Description: There's a festival in sunny Rio de Janeiro, and two fighters have been brought in to please the crowds, an American Ninja and an Italian nobody. (Winner: Maki)
Welcome to Rio de Janeiro, one of the biggest cities in Brazil! Home to many sights and sounds, as well as natural marvels such as the Amazon River, Rio is definitely a place to be if you're looking for a unique cultural enrichment. Whether you're on the Amazon seeing piranha in the water and boa constrictors(!) slithering around, or you're in the city enjoying the friendliness of the locals, it's always a great place to be.
In the heart of Rio, where a festival is taking place, the Neo League has set up a ring in the center of it all for the entertainment of the attendees. Two fighters will have at it in the ring, but only one will leave victorious. Who it will be is anyone's guess.
"Ladies and gentlemen," The ringside announcer says over his microphone, "Welcome to today's Neo League Match. Introducing first, from Metro City, the official ninja of Metro City, Maki Genryusai!" At that, Maki stands up in her corner and waves to the audience as they cheer for her. She awaits her opponent eagerly, while she continues to warm up a little all the same.
Sergio is so close to being late that it isn't funny. The wilderness around Rio is pretty neat, but the festival that's going in is simply too much of a temptation for him. Long hours before the fight is scheduled to start he's there enjoying the festivities. If he didn't have a vague memory of something important he was supposed to do he'd likely have ended up at the fight drunk, or not at all. But luckily he did, and cut himself off an hour before the match was set to begin.
But then he got so involved in the festival again that he completely forgot the fight. He ended up following a particular group of people, who just so happened to be going to see a fight! He nearly chokes when he realizes that the ring he's now looking it as the one -he- is supposed to be fighting in. RIGHT NOW.
So just as the announcer is speaking up, "And second, a mysterious drifter from Italy, Sergioooo!" he's climbing over the barricade, raising his hand and accepting the cheer of the crowd, who are so excited from the festivities they'd probably cheer if it'd have been a llama instead.
As Sergio gets into the ring, Maki turns to face him and nods to him with a smirk. He may be a drifter, but if he can get into the ring with her, then he's definitely got something to prove. Whatever it is, she can't wait to see it. For now, she just stands in her ready stance, awaiting the start of the match.
Sergio stops waving to the crowd and turns to look at his opponent. Several things go through his mind. The first is that Maki is hot, and actually not a teenager. The other thing overpowers that one, though just barely. That's the smirk. Seeing Maki smirk brings about the business side of Sergio, whose own face suddenly includes a big cocky grin. "Normally I'd buy you a drink, but looks like something else is on the menu today. You ready?"
Though there's no loud shout of an announcer, there is a ringing bell to signal the beginning of the fight. Sergio takes this as his cue, running forward at Maki at an unimpressive speed and leaping up into the air, extending one foot to try and kick her in the stomach. If it lands he'll land himself and send three hard punches across her body before sending a palmstrike at her chest. Luckily it stops short of contact, but a sudden blast of chi in the form of a powerful stream of water shoots from his hand. "Hyah!"

Trying to get Maki's feet wet, are we? Well, that's not a bad idea, except Maki prefers to have her shoes and socks off when she does something like that. As it is, she doesn't see the need for something like that. So when the attack comes at her, she drops onto the tip of her tonfa and spins around rapidly.
The result is while she's hit, it doesn't hurt as badly as it could have, and it also gives her some breathing room as her opponent is knocked back.
Augh! That's exactly the sort of thing that ends up getting Sergio's ass kicked. He ends up diving right into an ambush, Maki's spinning throwing him right to the ropes of the ring he just entered into and causing him to fall to the ground. He picks himself up quickly and grits his teeth. "You sure pack a nasty punch for bein' so small." Possibly offensive, but one must admit that the 5'4" Maki must look tiny next to foot taller Italian man.
"Hmph. Well, lets see how you deal with this!" He reaches into his shirt and out of nowhere pulls a six foot length of rope and flings it at Maki, a vortex of water forming around it and swirling about. The rope spins at head height, the idea being to choke her and blast her with water energy.

Seeing the whirlpool coming at her, Maki swiftly dodges to the side, and she's left high and dry, or something in that vein. The opponent she's got is rather interesting to say the least, but Maki considers it just warming up. She hopes he'll have more to prove as the fight continues.
Wasting no time in planning her next attack, Maki spins around and brings her left foot up, aiming it for Sergio's stomach!

Uh oh. She's one of them quick types isn't she? That really doesn't bode well for Sergio, who deals in slow, hard hitting attacks. However, there is one advantage to this. While Maki spins around to kick him, Sergio lifts up his arms and crosses them, and takes the hit solidly on the forearms. He then blinks. "Hah! You must weigh nothin' girl!" He completely, utterly shrugs the kick off like it didn't even happen, and then retaliates with one of his own, a ridiculous, powerful axe kick that has him jumping into the air and using his height advantage to bring a heel down upon her right shoulder, the surprising part perhaps being the stream of water that trails along with his foot. "HAAH!"

Bracing herself for the impact, Maki positions herself so the blow will hit her on the edge of her shoulder, meaning that she still takes some damage, but ends up getting a boost of adrenaline in return. She waits for her opponent to land before turning to face him.
"Not bad, but you need to do better," Maki says before attempting to jab Sergio in the chest with her tonfa.

Sergio readies himself for something nasty when Maki simply takes the hit and looks to take advantage of her position. However, the quick tonfa jab catches him off guard. Is she...making light of him? When the tonfa comes he quickly flings his right arm in a powerful hook towards the side of her head, but the jab ends up knocking his aim off enough so that it just whiffs over the top of her. ...he's going to have to aim lower. "Tch! Underestimate me and you're gonna end up laid out on the ground." He drops back into his fighting stance; a simple but effective brawling stance, right fist up, left hand down, ready to block or fling a fist at a moments notice.
"Good attempt, if I say so myself. You know, you've got a bit of potential, I'll give you that," Maki says with a smirk. She then looks at Sergio intently, but doesn't move. It's as if she's sizing up the situation, trying to figure out what to do next.

Sergio has to fight the urge to cross his arms. She was definitely making light of him. "Potential, huh? Yep, you're underestimating me. Last time someone did that..." Pause. "Well, I ended up getting hit by a truck, but that's not the point!" He grits his teeth and then suddenly grins. "You think you're better then me? Fine. Prove it." Looks like he's getting ready for the long haul.

"Fighting skills," Maki says while crossing her arms, "Are not something you brag about. They take years of patience, training, and discipline to master. I don't just fight for entertainment. I fight for my own reasons. Such as to prove my worth as a Bushin ninja!"
Maki then uncrosses her arms. "But enough talk. Storytime is officially over," She says as she brings her tonfa toward Sergio in a downward strike. A rather strong strike at that.

Sergio actually rolls his eyes at Maki while she says this. Not something you brag about? Who's she kidding? To him it seems like she's bragging merely by her actions, never mind the words that come out of her mouth. When she comes to smack him with her Tonfa, Sergio raises and crosses his arms as he did before. ...wait, isn't she way shorter than he is? Yep. Oops. With his arms up in the air, it gives her the perfect trajectory to smash him right in the top of the head.
He goes stumbling backwards, backing into the ropes and barely managing to keep on his feet while his head swims. And then, well, in his stupor he just makes a wild kick in Maki's general direction, water energy again surrounding his limb.

The kick comes at Maki and it hits her forearms, which she uses to deflect the attack, but not without a little pain on the side. Still it's just a minor bruise, but it's still noticeable to Maki. Not that it matters to her really.
Instead, her next plan of attack is to deliver a four-attack combination that consists of three tonfa strikes, first a swift one, then a moderate one, and then a hard one, and finish it off with a swift kick.

Sergio realizes he's in a somewhat awkward position when he's kick is deflected. It throws him off balance enough that the quick strikes that come soon afterward would probably knock him over if it struck him directly. Luckily, he has an out in this situation. His hand quickly thrusts up into the air as his foot comes down, and directly in front of him a geyser of water shoots up from the ground, blasting Maki up into the sky so that only the first two strikes are able to land, the last one knocking the side of Sergio's head as she goes up. "Warned you!"
Well, Maki can't say she wasn't warned indeed. The geyser sends her high but not sky high. Nonetheless, the impact on landing hurts her a bit, meaning she has to use the ropes to get back onto her feet. When she does get back on her feet, though, she does a backwards flip onto the ropes, and then rebounds off of them while flying directly at Sergio with a fast flying kick!

Flying kick! Well that'll be easy to stop! After all, she can't weigh much, right? Sergio gets himself ready for impact, begins to raise his arms- and is bowled over the very moment he does. "Shit!" It just came too fast for him. He rolls backwards after the strike, allowing himself to fall backwards in order to lessen the pain from hitting the ground. He picks himself up slowly and sort of frowns at Maki. "Now I'm the one underestimating you!" A grin. "Guess I'd better do something about that." Looks like he's up to something.

Maki turns to look at her opponent and sees that he's got a plan going on. Well, two can play at that game. Except unlike Sergio, Maki's attempting to increase her inner power a little, by focusing deep within.

Sergio looks at Maki. Then he grins. "Ohhhh, you just did it! You made a really big mistake just now. I see what you're doing!" Sergio's trained himself really well to be able to see when people are drawing on inner or outer power, and there's perhaps just a twinge of ability to sense chi in it. He has a very specific method of dealing with people with this otherwise problematic tendancy.
He drops down into a low power stance, recognizable as a makeshift horse stance if Maki knows much of karate, and draws his hand back far. The ground beneath them trembles, and he thrusts his hand forward. "HAAAH!"
The ground in front of him rends, a massive surge of water tearing up from it like a diverted river. Huge chunks of the ground come with it, the entire mess careening towards Maki. An incredibly telegraphed maneuver, but one that fits perfectly against people who make themselves immobile.

Somehow, Maki avoids the incoming attack, but in doing so she loses her focus on her chi, meaning she gave up a real big advantage there. Hence the reason that once she finishes dodging, she attempts jump over Sergio, grab him by the shoulders, invert herself, and then throw him to the mat!

Even if he missed, he definitely succeeded in forcing her to lose that which she had gathered. And then, when she comes to jump over him, he pulls out another surprise! This one is a huge long rope, about 20 feet all told, which he begins throwing at Maki, water energy flowing up around it. The maneuver is a pretty stupid one, if one were to analyze the footage, as Maki is almost on him before the rope is even all the way out, but that's just how Sergio fights. Big risks, and hopefully big rewards. But there are no rewards here, and he's picked up, the rope whipped out of his hand, and slammed into the mat. "Oof!"
Maki lands from her attack and turns to see that her opponent is getting back to his feet. She'd waste no time in attacking him again, but unfortunately, that somersault she did has left her a tad bit on the dizzied side. So rather than attempt to make a foolish attack on him, she takes a moment to steady her senses.

Sergio picks himself up out of the dirt, and turns himself to face Maki. He's in a pretty bad spot right now. As much as he hates to do it, he'll fall back on one of his simpler moves. While huge devastating smashes are what he prefers, he does have one thing that might be able to hit an agile ninja. ...okay probably not. In any case, he rushes in towards Maki and attempts to palmstrike her, only his palm stops short and a blast of water flies from his hand. "Hah!"

Even in her fatigued and woozy state, Maki still manages to avoid the blast of water that comes at her. It's not that big of a deal to her, though, since the fight is still going on. And if she gets cocky, it's over. Which is why she's decided to keep it simple and attempt a simple shoulder through on Sergio.

With Maki going for an attack like that, something slow and cumbersome, Sergio decides to match it with equal sloth. He drops down into his horse stance again and pulls back his hand, intending to blow her away as she tries to grab him by the shoulders and toss him away. There's some scary rumbling for a long moment as his hand pulls back, but just as he's shoving his hand forward Maki rips him up off of the ground and throws him over her shoulder.
He hits the ground hard, trying to pick himself up, and then collapses back to the ground. "C-crap..."
Maki watches Sergio drop to the ground, and she would help him up and compliment him on fighting well, but the medics are already swarming over him like white on rice. The announcer states that Maki is the winner, and the crowd begins to cheer. But to Maki, victory is not what she was after here. It was merely an attempt to improve her skills as a Bushin ninja. The concept of the Neo League doesn't attract her to these types of fights. It's interesting, but it's not what Maki fights for...
