Yurika - Kirishima Rumble

Description: Yurika and Kurow go at it per a sisters desperate request. As in they do more epic battling rather than sibling bonding.

Kurow's birthday hasn't come up yet. That's right this is a BACK SCENE. Thus far Yurika had been very busy working out her Seijyun duties, and finally her overall plan is rolling into action. The biggest step was to come not long after Kurow's birthday.
In the past, Yurika dreaded such a thing. But these days, she's become quite excited about it, she had never had such an important position in the past after all, and it's for something she's actually interested in.

This isn't to say she isn't interested in fighting, however. No, in fact if she's going to continue along her path, Yurika has found it imperitive that not only she become stronger, but to advance with her ninjitsu techniques as well. This, of course, is where Kurow comes in.
The winds becoming more brisk, and the sun lowering at dusk, the orange skies make the dark and dreary forest section a strange combination of frightening and beautiful. And deep within the forest, settled on a particularly large rock is Yurika Kirishima, adorn in a replica of Kurow's fishnet-wear, with her hair drawn back into a large, single braid. As always, she's looking forward to a little family time, even if it does tend to be physically painful in the end.

The usual place, at the appointed time -- isn't that always the way it seems to go? There's something to be said for routine, though, and Kurow Kirishima lets the routine take him here gladly. After all, it's rare that Yurika initiates as far as training's concerned, and that's something to be praised -- it might be a sign that she's actually starting to take responsibility for herself in this wide, impersonal world. It'd certainly be a change of pace.

The young lady's outfit comes as a bit of a surprise to the youth; he was expecting that ridiculous nonsense from before, or at least her usual uniform. Still, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery -- and perhaps, who knows, this might be the sign of the same adaptive spark in Yurika that Kurow bears. Giving Yurika a (still forced -- this /is/ Kurow) smile as he finally finds her in the forest, he looks the girl over for some time before saying anything at all.

He settles on, "Well well. Is there a reason you've taken such an interest in your... studies? This wouldn't have anything to do with Seijyun's little social power struggle...?" Which, in truth, Kurow hasn't been paying nearly enough attention to. But then, he's working on his own skills -- right now, 'mass marketing' ranks high on the list. It's one thing to influence a person; it's another to influence a fanbase, and a world.

"Good day, Kurow.." Yurika replies, slipping off of the stone. She actually is a bit embarassed with getting looked over, of course Kurow would know that Yurika simply is not a big fan of wearing such a form-fitting ensamble. But some things are just.. Necessary. She smiles a little in return as she opens her violin case and draws out her beloved violin Charlotte, along with its bow.
"No reason in particular, I just have been feeling more inspired than usual.." And it's the half-truth. Yurika has no plans to muscle her way through her situations at Seijyun. Perhaps she could look at it as taking a page from Geese Howard's book. "I have always wanted to improve, but I've realized that I need to approach this more seriously as well. It's a lengthy story, really.. Shall we?"

Yurika feels a little silly brandishing a camoflauged weapon in this ensamble. Perhaps she should look into purchasing a katana.

COMBATSYS: Yurika has started a fight here.

Geese Howard's book is a dangerous one to take pages from where Kurow Kirishima can see it -- even if he grudgingly respects the man's skill, that's about all of the man that he respects. Fortunately, such things go unnoticed. After all, now is a time for more important things, like training -- since Yurika seems so intent on it, even going so far as to wear something suited to combat.

"I suppose we shall," Kirishima says with a small smile... but perhaps that feeling of inspiration is what prompts Kurow to avoid even bothering to take his claws from his pockets. He slips immediately into an unfamiliar stance, and says, "By this point, there is little else you can learn of Imawano-ryu, in the direct sense; there are certain things, but now is not the time for them. Instead, we're going to focus on refinement in changing circumstances." Taking a breath, he continues, "Simply put, I want you to treat this less like a battle and more like a series of individual exchanges. Show me how you think you'd best respond to anything I do -- and if you want to impress me, tell me who you might see doing what I do."

COMBATSYS: Kurow has joined the fight here.

Well this is interesting.. Yurika already was looking foward to this, but this is a step in training that she had never even seen a hint of before. This must certainly be a 'next step'. Though she keeps in the back of her mind, then, that she at this point just needs to continue to focus on what she knows when she is training by herself in the future. It's good in a way that she doesn't need to learn any new techniques.

The musician takes a small breath, releases it, and then gives another nod, "I understand. All right, I will do my best." It's likely going to be tough, this is going to put more than one skill to the test. On the other hand, it almost seems like a test that should be right up her alley. Hopefully her body will be able to keep up. For a moment, she closes her eyes and murmurs something under her breath, shifting the chi within her body about to particular places.

In truth, it's more of a shift in Kurow's teaching style -- prompted by the man who's presently teaching /him/. It took a little adapting to learning a single art, as the original form was 'identify the technique, who I may have learned it by observing, and then repeat it,' but it's still obviously drawn from that original idea.

As Yurika gets herself ready, Kurow just waits -- at first. He's seen Yurika do this before -- and decides not to hesitate, coming in right from the get-go. He's intentionally making everything a little easier to spot, for Yurika's sake -- no point in overwhelming her, after all -- but he's certainly not pulling his punches /too/ far. His first approach is something simple and direct; once he nears Yurika, he crouches down, then explodes up and forward in a forceful yet telegraphed flipping kick. This one shouldn't be too hard to pick out, if the elder Kirishima's watched what her little brother's gotten up to in the televised matches recently.

Uh oh.. There's just one problem there.. Yurika's knowledge of fighters is very very low. The girl simply just doesn't put SNF high on her priorities list, unless she's feeling suspicious like being in a match with say.. Akira and Sada!

It doesn't fully click in until her eyes open and she sees Kurow coming toward her with the technique, her lips draw into a small frown. Lucky for her, however, she's had a league fight with Shingo before and recognizes the technique.

Yurika steps to the side, but crosses her legs to twirl in a circle and place herself mostly behind Kurow, "... They still have you fighting that klutz?" she asks in disapproval. And she doesn't waste her time striking back, the tip of her needle-point bow slashes forward, slashing toward Kurow horizontally and then strikes with the wood at the knees to knock him of his feet should the first hit connect.

COMBATSYS: Yurika successfully hits Kurow with Tragic Hesitation.

Kurow            0/-------/------=|=------\-------\0           Yurika

When Kirishima sees Yurika try to come in for a couple of slashes, he immediately starts to whirl to meet them; however, he meets them too well, and has to launch into a quick roll to avoid taking damage from the fall as well as the slashes. "'That klutz?'" he asks, with a small smirk. "Your eye is still untrained. While that technique bears a few similarities to the Shingo Kick, it's a United States Special Forces technique. Still, your instincts are sound -- sweep the legs while they're still getting their footing back." But then, he can't fault Yurika for the guess -- after all, Kurow trying such an American technique is hardly expected behavior.

This time, he decides to go for a slightly more vicious technique, one he's seen in dozens of matches, and even remembers from Mugen Imawano himself. In a move Yurika may have a slightly easier time dealing with, Kirishima finishes his turn toward Yurika, trying to put her in a facelock and -- if he can catch her -- just letting himself drop to the ground, rattling her jaw on his that grabbing arm. This is a fairly widespread skill, and there are tons of possible answers for the 'bonus' question -- the large Canadian man Kurow fought recently, the Imawano family, and countless more.

Kurow            0/-------/----===|====---\-------\0           Yurika

Ah, it's a good start, Yurika wasn't entirely sure she'd be able to catch Kurow even with the speed behind it.. Perhaps she got lucky, but she won't admit that to herself so readily! "I- I see.."
There did seem to be some sort of odd rivalry between Kurow and Guile, but she never really 'got' it. Actually she still doesn't. She shakes the thought off for the moment, and before she knows it, Kurow has managed to rush in and capture the girl in a facelock, her instrument ending up in an extremely awkward position. Why she chose not to slip away is more or less a test for herself, as the slender girl manages to put up resistance to keep Kurow from dropping his full weight. Her bow toting arm slips about Kurows waist, and straining herself so much she actually ends up hurting herself in the process she stands up, hoisting her younger brother into the air and the both of them come crashing back down onto the hard ground, Yurika rolls to the side and gets up to one knee, favoring at her lower back.
All right note to self, never do that the hard way again. ".. Imawano, in a sense. Though I see it's just as effective with smaller grapplers."

Whatever Kurow was expecting, it wasn't that -- Yurika catches him and actually slams him into the ground backward, in a vicious counter to the technique Mugen borrowed from whatever fighting style along the line. "It's true -- Mugen actually taught me a lot about it, since he shared the technique with Raizo and was built more like myself," he explains as he starts to get up, gritting his teeth. Perhaps he didn't give Yurika enough credit.

"It's a good move -- it relies as much on the opponent's weight as your own," he explains, even as he starts to gear up for his next strike already. What to force Yurika to handle this time -- ah, yes, the bane of almost all fighters who haven't mastered such techniques. Kirishima grins as he sweeps a hand upward in a tall arc, sending a wave of whirling wind across the ground at Yurika. If we want to get into 'weird rivalries Kurow has,' this would be an excellent time.

"I see.. Unfortunatly I don't think it will do me much good. But I'll remember it." Somewhere along the line, recalling what techniques Kurow favors could prove useful. Such as a case in which Momo and herself might end up in some sort of weird trivia game. Heh heh, that would certainly teach her!
Now for the gust of whirling wind? It's evident in her eyes that it's not really something she's seen before, it looks almost like Ninon's technique but executed differently. And it isn't overly exaggerated so it probably isn't Joe either. Well first her bow is up to her violin, and standing on the toes of her left foot, the girl kicks and twirls around, the music, instead of flashing brightly into existance, only reveals its outlines, within it the air blurrs. The blurry wave circles about her body like a gymnasts ribbon, Kurow's energy slamming hard into it, trying to burst through the wall, and eventually that energy gives out, for the moment leaving Yurika the victor. Her bow arm the sweeps outward, sending the upside-down tornado of sound whirling onward toward Kurow, "I don't know.." she admits sheepishly.

What techniques Kurow favors now may change within a month -- a week -- a day. The youth is expanding his mind to the endless realm of possibility his skill with mimicry and disguise offers him, and who knows where /that/ may take him. Perhaps, in thirty years, he'll be a completely different type of fighter.

When Yurika's wave of sound comes at him, he's around and out of the way in an instant, sidestepping hard and firm; they're not the light, ready movements he usually makes, but they certainly seem to do the job. "Rock Howard," he says, with a smirk; he doesn't chastize Yurika in the least for this one -- because he's already putting himself on the offensive. This time, he tries for an exceptionally direct approach, and one that may leave Yurika a little frustrated -- he launches forward, in a forceful uppercut. ... and also, perhaps, a slightly feminine uppercut, with something of a whirling flourish to it.

While Yurika's eye may need a little more work, there are some motion characteristics that she simply does not miss. She was embarassed at first as she's given the answer, someone who had been on the news quite a bit, and not very long ago. Luckily she isn't chided.

Not so luckily she is immedietly visably annoyed. If she hadn't been so shocked by the very very different move, she may have instinctivly tried smashing through it, but instead, the blow meets her violin bow, and is gently directed upward but away from herself. She doesn't make any effort to hide her annoyance, ".. Kasugano?" she asks, in a mildly annoyed tone.
Yurika then steps forward, twirls around, and aims a back-kick to Kurow's side. If she could put more 'umph' into it, she certainly would!

Kurow            0/-------/--=====|=======\===----\1           Yurika

Up until now, Kurow's been treating this as a back-and-forth sort of thing, taking his words to their most literal endpoint -- but now, he feels the need to show Yurika something else that might happen, and see how she gauges /that/ reaction. As Yurika's kick comes at him, he shoulders forward and flips up, whirling his entire body like a tornado as he does so. First, Kirishima's foot impacts Yurika's chin; as if that weren't enough, his whirling arms strike Yurika over and over, before he flips his body back feet-down and lands cleanly.

"You sound bitter," Kirishima says, with a little smile. "Remember -- no matter how much you may hate a tool, if it's at your disposal, you should put it to use. You're doing spectacularly so far for the most part, by the way."

Knock knock.
Who's there?
RISING TACKLE??
Yurika lets out a yelp during the very unexpected counter-attack, her head snaps back and the blows that follow is almost comparable to getting battered by a jackhammer. It doesn't look like much.. Until you're the one being hit by it, ouch. And so the student is carried up and then knocked away to crash back onto the ground once more quite hard onto her back- Yet she never lets her weapons go. And when she sits up, she's trying hard to keep calm, even as blood trickles down the side of her mouth and her ribs feel like a battered xylophone. "... I.. I understand.."

In fact, those very words make Yurika seriously consider asking Sada to partake in her plans. As much as she can't stand the girl she's.. Useful. Admitting that makes her blanch just slightly, which hardly shifts when she's complimented. She's quite glad, yes. But having a sudden epiphany does that! And so she steels herself and presses foward again, this time taking a very big risk. She tries to get in close and then swing her bow upward to slam the wood under Kurow's chin. Should she do that and knock him upward, she leaps up after and swings her sword-arm rapidly but fluidly, a flurry of slashes directed toward Kurow, then at the end of the combination, overhead swings to smash her younger brother back toward the ground!

Kurow            0/-------/--=====|=======\-------\1           Yurika

While the obvious (if apparently painful) lightbulb in Yurika's head makes Kurow smile, seeing that he may yet mold something useful out of this otherwise useless base material, he realizes that he can't lighten up on her any more than he already has just for that. After all, the fundamental, driving principle of Imawano-ryu is nothing more complex than utter domination. A true Imawano-ryu practicioner is ruthless, aggressive, and always in control.

Even when he's knocked up into the air by a length of wood, feeling his jaw crack.

His reaction is almost instantaneous; as Yurika jumps up after him, he's already whirling around... and when she finally reaches him, his entire body whirls forward in a hard mid-air split kick, typical of Korean martial arts, right as Yurika leaps up to meet him. All that momentum goes somewhere -- and that somewhere, in this instance, is straight from Yurika's head to Kurow's forward-swinging heel.

"I had to... 'dig very deep' for that," he concedes, as he begins to descend. "A less experienced fighter would've been torn apart. You did very well." He lands on the ground, stuck in that split-kick position for a moment; perhaps this is Yurika's opportunity!?

Yurika doesn't know much.. Or rather she knows very very little about Rugal, but she has seen a little bit of Adelheid, so while she doesn't expect, nor can she really do anything about the very painful but amazingly executed kick, she does recognize it- Moments before she blacks out for roughly two seconds. She flies upside down and smashes into a close tree, which brings her back to the present-

Somehow on her decent she manages to turn upright, and there is a sudden burst of energy from her. It's not completely visable, it's the wave of blurry sound again as she hits the ground and kicks up a guyser of dirt and grass.

Kurow may or may not have seen her land in a crouch, the dirtied musician settles her bow onto her violin and comes bursting out of the wall of dirt. She doesn't really know where the determination comes from; perhaps its all the compliments she's being given, this is the first time Kurow's seemed truly pleased with her and it's like a drug, she has to have more! What's odd, however, is despite her playing, there's no sound heard until she twirls around and attempts to slam her bow into Kurows chest as she passes him. And then when she comes to a screeching halt, the blurr as well as the sound rushes toward Kurow, resulting in a musical battering if he isn't quick enough!

COMBATSYS: Yurika successfully hits Kurow with Fatal Nocturne.

Kurow slowly spreads out his arms to either side as Yurika comes in for her own version of the Kyoujuu Reppa... only to have her come in slightly faster than expected, bowling him over and setting him up to get whipped through by that wave of sonic chi. He's up in a flash, of course -- Kurow's let a lot by tonight that he wouldn't in a 'real' fight, and it shows, but then, so do his mounting wounds. While the younger Kirishima is playing softball, Yurika's hardball is about as good as Kurow's softball. Considering how brutal Kurow is, that's quite a feat.

Cracking a wide grin, Kurow says, "All right, then -- your last test. What do you do..." He doesn't come in. He doesn't do anything save scrutinize Yurika's every move as he stands, stock still. "... when your opponent does nothing at all?" The youth's wide grin may, perhaps, give away his plans.

The black-clad Yurika slouches forward a bit, panting heavily. She put perhaps too much into her assault, leaving her slightly weary- Yurika will certainly need to work on her pacing, that's for sure. But it's difficult to do that much against an opponent of vast superiority..

Even though somehow she always manages to get them a little beaten up as well. Gift or curse?? But the final question makes her cringe just slightly, if only because she knows it's a trick one. Within the entire match Kurow had yet to do anything completely and utterly overwhelming and probably has that card on stand-by. If she were to rush in, she'd likely get steamrolled by it. But if she waits she's only delaying the inevitable. The only option, then, is to try to give herself as big an advantage as possible. Yurika reaches up to her violin shoulder, twists her wrist, and when she flings her arm outward, two five inch long tuning forks are whipped toward Kurow, prongs first.
They're extremely quick, but Kurow can probably see that the prongs are vibrating which would mean that while they may not cause a lot of pain upon contact, the bit of chi she's added to it would jumble his nervous system briefly, slowing him down.

When Kurow sees those tuning forks coming in at him, he knows he's miscalculated -- he was going to plow through Yurika's attack the second it came, and catch her while she was still off-guard ... and it's too late to back out now. As the tuning forks fly, he bursts right through them, putting all of his body's speed to use on the offense even if it means momentarily stumbling thanks to Yurika's little trick with the vibrations. He has to respect someone who'll use a weapon to its full advantage

However, he's committed to his plan, and it's too late to back out now. "... Excellent strategy," he says, even as he lunges out to take a firm hold on his older sister's extended throwing arm, pulling on it to send Yurika flying up into the air, and then --!?

Yurika was always walking drama. But for a big portion of the match, she has been fighting drama! It seems that at least for today, she is a true fighting machine. Of course to say that her reaction is skill entirely, would be a gross exaggeration. She didn't expect Kurow to blow through her attack like that, and with a light gasp she takes a small step back and.. She only has one chance.
The chi focuses on her legs as she slides back in slow motion, and then her arm is grabbed, and with a gasp the young musician is flung upward into the air? Not exactly..

For while she sails upward as a person, her form loses color, and she rains back to the ground as a flurry of musical notes and rests. Substitution, a ninjitsu staple that may or may not stun Kurow long enough to realize that the musician is actually BEHIND him, one eye closed and doing her best to keep her panting unaudible, her bow whips across the strings of her instrument and a buzzsaw of blurring, sonic energy is sent screaming toward, and perhaps into, her younger brothers spine. A bit brutal, yes, but she is practically running on autopilot to keep from collapsing!

If Yurika expects to mask the sounds of her body to another Kirishima, she has another thing coming. After all -- when someone isn't immediately obvious, it's only natural to expect them to be behind you, and an acute sense of hearing can confirm that. Kirishima sidesteps firmly, once again out of the way of the serenade... and smiling?

"Truly remarkable," he says, grinning. It's as if he's /pleased/ that his attempt at the Super Argentine Backbreaker was stopped cold. "Rare indeed -- but now, we end this." Stepping in, Kirishima goes for a quick series of light, tapping kicks around Yurika's entire chest with his right hand, again moving to the traditional kickboxing styles of Korea. More praise. Num num. It's perhaps the only thing that's really keeping her going, Yurika's been in exhausting fights before, and in those times she'd usually been extremely annoyed or frustrated. But right now, she's just very happy.

Hurting completely all over, but happy. Who knows what was in store for the would-be kunoichi, but it's in the past now. It hurts to talk, so she can really only give a small smile in return. She doesn't think she's done though, not just yet.

She had no idea that her brothers arsenal of maneuvers was so wide, she's suprised herself that she's managing to adapt so well. In fact it makes her believe that perhaps she's fit for the fighting world after all. Granted, she's still not going to become some sort of fight-freak, but she'll definatly be more open minded about what opponents to face. Imawano-ryu is clearly versitile enough to handle even the most uncouth of styles. The kicks just flat out miss her, she drops into a crouch and slips under the first kick, placing her on the opposite side of Kurow.

Now its HER turn to steal someone elses move. It's not flashy. It's not a trademark at all, really, but she'd seen Ninon do it. Bow tightly held in her hand she swings and tries to slug Kurow in the face with a boxer's hook punch. It's apparently chinese.

The punch catches Kurow completely off-guard, as he draws his foot back in from the kicks. He can't even attempt to react to it -- it just sends him sprawling, and even though Yurika's got him on the ropes, he still gets back up again -- perhaps in the future, he tells himself, it would be wise to treat Yurika, even in training, as any other opponent.

He can start now, after all. The heart of Imawano-ryu is utter domination -- and while it is fine, and indeed laudable, to let a student get in a few punches, it is unacceptable to let them think they've surpassed you.

Clutching his cheek with one hand, the younger Kirishima seems to speed up in spite of his fatigue, no longer keeping himself in check for Yurika -- his weariness will do that for him. In what may well be more conventional tactics for the youth, he lunges forward, going for a hard swipe with his claws that comes remarkably suddenly -- mitigated though it is by the lack of real, true claws.

Well Kurow knows Yurika, she does not like to punch, or touch her opponents with her hands at all, even /with/ her gloves on! It's actually a little disturbing that it works so darn well this time around and yet... Well, she'll probably never do it again. .. Unless Ninon bugs her by trying that crap again. So total domination, is it? It's not something that completely works for Yurika in some ways because.. Well, this time she just goes for the complete extreme. She's convinced she can't defeat Kurow, only drag him down with her.. and so?

It's kind of like a weird game of baseball. Yurika doesn't have claws. What she does have is her violin, in which she abandons her bow to grasp the end with both hands. Kurow's swipe comes in one direction.

Yurika's swing comes from the other.

Unfortunatly not only is Kurow faster, it's stronger, she's swiped right out of her technique which sends her twirling into the air and hitting the ground a final time with a heavy, lead-like *thump*, and then a brief slide. "... Nngh." That wasn't quite the blaze of glory she was looking for. In fact, that was downright embarassing. She'll stick with what she knows from now on.

Embarassing, but no less gutsy. Kurow mostly looks upon the ill-thought tactic with disdain, but there's a small part of him that's impressed that Yurika would have the fortitude to try such a thing; both sides, in the end, get dismissed in favor of more pragmatic concerns, like picking Yurika up off the ground; pulling her up by the arm, he seems ready to try for the backbreaker again -- but mercifully, he doesn't.

Instead, he starts to lead Yurika out of the forest, saying, "That was a spectacular showing. We can work on new techniques and refinement but your mastery of what you have is undeniable." Ah, more praise -- a rare thing, from Kurow, but hey. Even if he may have his irrational, human frustrations with Yurika, results are results. And Yurika certainly brought home those today.
