A more quiet locale for a fight, this Neo League event is to take place in the somewhat tranquil shopping district of Southtown Village. An exhibition fight and an advertising extravaganza all combined into one. The two fighters are given a raised, wooden stage to fight on while banners a plenty hang overhead or all around the base of the stage. Along the back of the stage and even on the ground around it are a variety of wares, such as appliances, furniture, clothing racks, and snack stands.
It creates quite the bustling crowd around the event, as those gathered into the area are looking forward to watching the scheduled fight while also seeking to take advantage of the great bargain prices available at all of the displays! Hotaru is rather used to these kinds of things. While she prefers matches not surrounded by so many distractions, what can you do? Accepting the Neo League challenge when it came, she showed up on time, ready to fight.
The thought of challenging the enigmatic Gabrial Kai is an intriguing one. It's always interesting having to deal with another Kenpo artist. Though her own techniques have started to vary slightly under the instruction of the Sakazaki's, so Gabriel might find some variations in her own moves from the last time they sparred.
Dressed in her traditional Chinese styled fighting outfit, the girl clasps her hands behind her back, waiting for her opponent to prepare herself. "It's good to see you again," she speaks up, though her expression looks vaguely uncertain. "You've, um, made interesting appearances in the news as of late..." Isn't she supposed to be locked up over in America somewhere?
When the time comes for the fight to start, Hotaru wastes no time, leading off with an aggressive charge toward the taller girl, attempting to snag a hold of her arms and twist them in order to give her leverage to allow her to kick-stomp her way right up the front of her before backflipping into the air to land back down in the center of the stage. "Ya, ya, ya!"

When it comes to Gabriel, in turn, she dresses in much the same fashion as always, black silken jacket with pretty embroidery of red dragons. She was probably no where near the favorite, because the lot of the people here saw her as rather weird often, but she didn't have anything against Hotaru. She does her traditional prayer and keeps her attention on her pendant for a moment.
"News? I do vaguely have recollection of trouble with the Americas, however the cretin whom engaged in this activity merely framed me with false pretences utilizing military connections. These claims were disgraceful and false."
hotaru comes with her attack and Gabriel does her best to guard against it, trying to roll with the throw, but it is with little success as she finds herself pretty massively nailed from the hit. Though when she picks herself up, it is to dust herself off instead of attacking.
"Hotaru-san, you have been training hard?"

The backflip puts Hotaru back down in the middle of the stage where she lands lightly, preparing for the kind of retaliation that typically comes when she take a risk to leap away after such a bold starting attack.
"Framed?" she echoes, blinking with some surprise. But she doesn't sound like she doubts Gabriel, merely that she's undecided. On one hand she's certainly seen the girl engage in activities that could be construed as... well, attempts at causing panic or terror before depending on one's perspective. On the other hand, she's more inclined to believe the Japanese girl in front of her than some American in a far off place.
"That's unfortunate," she replies neutrally, "It might be best to avoid activities that could be seen in that light though, ne?" Standing up straight as no attack comes, she smiles a little, "I've been training nearly every day in fact. And I have great new teachers at the Kyokugen Dojo. They've been teaching me how to hit harder and endure longer. Their techniques aren't the Kenpo I was raised with, but I've been able to integrate some of the lessons..."
And with that, she charges back at the other girl, this time taking to the air in a lateral jump kick, her right leg snapping out in front of her in an attempt to strike the other girl on the shoulder. Should she connect, her left leg will swing forward for the purposes of allowing her to kick back off from the other girl into another backflip through the air. Her opponents tend to get used to her hit and run techniques after a while. "HA!"

This one drills Gabriel too, so that she has to step back with sort of a stagger, sort of a clatter and put a great deal of effort into getting herself right again. Well this was turning out to be a very fast little match. But it happened to the best of them sometimes.
"It shows, hotaru-san." Gabriel replies, after composing herself. She's more than happy to stop talking about the whole affair everything to do with Ameraica, it was not to her liking, what happened, but what are you gonna do?
"Now.. " she states and rears back before launching an attack back at her opponent.
Gabriel winds herself up like a top just then, trying to get close enough to sort of get Hotaru with a twisting and sort of head smacking attack. Okay, it's a silly attack, but Hotaru should recognize it.

Fortunately, the backflip off of Gabriel gave Hotaru the room she needed when she landed in order to prepare for her next reaction. One that happens to be very familiar to her indeed. The last time they sparred, she actually got repeatedly struck by this very move and this time she's apparently ready to avoid a repeat of that incident. "Thanks," she comments with regards to the compliment, but she does her best to keep it from going to her head. She needs to concentrate, after all.
Leaning back then slipping down into a crouch with her feet spread far apart, she is able to avoid being struck dead on by the strong hitting attack that would have bowled her over easily. But she also knows that with a rising slam like that, Gabriel might leave a small opening before being able to recover.
Rising back into a standing position to the side of the attacking girl, Hotaru reaches out to attempt to snag one of her limbs while she's spinning in order to pull her right back down to the stage with a twirl.

Gabriel gets grabbed and put into a twirl of sorts, but she manages to get out of it, she uses the twirl, though the limb twisting hurts, for her to do a sort of unwinding back hand, using yet another move that Hotaru should recognize rather well. no matter though.
"You should recognize this technique, perhaps you would be willing to instruct, I think our style maybe similar." The Crusader finds a sort of ready position with opened palms. She likes to do opened palmed strikes, it was more her thing to do.
The attack catches her hard in the stomach, punishing her for her attempt at twisting Gabriel to the stage. Staggering back a little, Hotaru's hand comes up to rest against her stomach as she grins weakly, "Yeah... I'm not sure you need any instruction from me. You already seem to have it down," she states with a bit of a shrug. After all, wouldn't a teacher need to have something new to teach a student?
But then again, maybe the pig-tailed fighter does have a couple of tricks that might be of use to the blond haired girl. Such at when she flips forward into the air in order to come down at Gabriel with a diving knee attack aimed for Gabriel's shoulder. If she connects, she'll swing her other foot forward in order to strike her lightly in the side of her head with her soft-shoe clad foot before backflipping away a second time.

"If this fight is any indicator then I do believe you would be able to teach me a great deal," The crusader of light replies, while having to dig in to avoid getting really hurt by that attack. She takes it some what and shrugs some of it off. Ultimately, yeah, it sucked.
"However if you feel this way, perhaps I will simply pursue lessons at the same school which you've attended, they appear to have done a fine job." She is speaking and not attacking? then it starts to look like just maybe she was going to be doing something clever, like taking a breather.
"We could be students at the same school."

The third backflip through the air brings Hotaru down on the edge of the stage, landing lightly again as she ponders the strange girl's words thoughtfully. "Well... the only teaching I've done is the basic self-defense course at the YFCC... I'm not sure if I would be able to instruct someone in more advanced techniques." There's a tinge of doubt in her own abilities, as if she isn't sure she could really provide someone with any useful insight beyond the very basics.
She braces herself, expecting another attack perhaps, only to find Gabriel decides to hang back for a moment to catch her breath. Deciding to let the other girl control the pacing for a bit, Hotaru simply nods at the idea, "Well, more students are always welcome at the Kyokugen Dojo. Master Takuma is very eager to share what they know with as many people as possible." she beams.
But she really needs to keep her head on the fight. While she has maintained a strong edge against Gabriel thus far, she can tell the other girl is perfectly capable of making strong hits as well after that last one to her stomach. Taking her lightly is not a good idea.

"I see." replies Gabriel as she takes a very stoic stance, seemingly done with the breath catching and now on to the attention paying. She focuses straight on Hotaru, trying to keep her every move under wraps. She narrows her eyes and steadies her breathing, her shoulders rising and falling with every breath.
Green eyes peer peer as she doesn't reply, not now, now she needed to get serious. Hotaru might of chipped away a good half of her strength in the opening moments, but Gabriel was always one of the belief that a fight wasn't over. . No attack. One hand held at her waist, the other up over her head, both palms opened, her shoulders rising and falling, almost a glare.

An invitation to attack again, it seems, and Hotaru smiles, nodding her head as the other girl appears prepared again. Her next attack is a lot more simple - a charge forward before sliding into a crouch, jutting her foot out to try and knock hard into Gabriel's shin as she slides past. At best, it'll knock the other girl over on a clean hit, but it might just end up bumping her foot a bit too. "Ha!"

As the kick comes in, Gabriel knocks the incoming foot out of the way with her own and then quickly uses the momentum to pivot her body in a sort of swinging motion to bring her hand toward Hotaru. Palm flaring up, the so called crusader puts her thrust toward the nose of little miss loli, her palm flaring with purple energy as it crackles toward her opponent, Gabriel meanwhile steps back and falls into her ready position once again. One hand held defensively at her waist while the other in the air in the ready.
Her breath comes deeply and she has to struggle somewhat to keep her straight backed posture, just short of gasping as she tries to keep Hotaru in her sights.
Smacked in the face again with an accompanying energy blast, Hotaru is knocked clean off her feet, having already been caught in an awkward position with her foot knocked so carefully to the side. Landing on her back in the middle of the stage she rolls over onto her side and gets back up, hand lifting to rub her nose a little.
That's the second attack of hers that has been so rebuffed. It seems Gabriel is content to just let her keep attacking her in order to keep knocking her around. The smaller fighter is still looking like she's doing pretty well, strenght and energy-wise, however, in spite the two intercepting blows from Gabriel.
"I'm not sure about what you said earlier. You seem to be handling yourself just fine," the girl states with a blink as she lowers her hand from her nose. Face blows seem to be a weakness of hers. Everyone always likes knocking her face around!
She hesitates for a moment to make sure no counter attack is coming before she launches herself forward again, leaping into the air in an attempt to land her feet on Gabriel's shoulders while also reaching down to snag hold of her arms. If she can manage, she'll end up pulling the other girl's arms up behind her back while she kicks off with her feet in an attempt to wrench her shoulders a bit and also knock her down to the ground. An acrobatic, risky trick, but she is kind of a squirrelly fighter.

If she had the chance to comment, then Gabriel might of insisted that Hotaru's attack was very well executed. The air assault makes defense rather difficult for the girl and the nature in which she is landed on puts her off balance. The ensuing stagger is short lived as Hotaru wastes no time in completing the attack and throwing her. In the end though, Gabriel does comment, but her comment is rather easy to miss, it is aa, 'Ahh'. Okay, it is more like a shriek of pain rather then a comment, but Gabriel might insist it was a clear sign that she was impressed by the attack.
Needless to say it would take some time to regain her composure. Speaking of composure. . it seems to be what the Crusader has in mind to do for a second time in a row. She draws deep and shaky breaths to get those shudders out of her system and to wipe a spot from her chin. It is important to look good when you're fighting, even if you're losing. The attack, once again, does not come. At least, not yet.

Her tricky attack ends up paying off in the end, it seems, but then Gabrial goes back on the defensive, not ready to keep attacking. Hotaru pauses when she lands, hands clasping behind her back now as she leans her head to the side slightly. She's willing to let the other girl take this at her pace. If she needs to catch her breath then Hotaru is going to let her take a moment.

Well, that wasn't what was expected, a big huge attack of utter pain and unpleasantness was what she expected. Tt didn't come, instead Hotaru decided to continue to lay off. Granted the look she was giving made Gabriel think that this wasn't entirely to her benefit. She knew well and good that something nasty could be coming her way in no time flat, but what was important was taking things seriously but not getting personal. Everyone knows the Goddess doth decree that emotions only get in the way.
A hand goes into her pocket. She pulls out an aquafina bottle and hurls it at Hotaru's head. While she more or less respected Hotaru almost as much as she respected anyone, the thing was no one could be too pure. Not even Hotaru. As the bottle flies with enough spin to hurt, the crusader of light simply takes a defensive posture. Staring.

Unclasping her hands from behind her back, Hotaru attempts to lean her head to the side to avoid the incoming water bottle, but it ends up bonking her solily, thrown with such expert aim on the part of Gabriel.
It sort of earns the other girl a weird look at this point as Hotaru brings her hand up to rub her forehead a bit. "It feels to me that you are not too interested in this match..." She exhales a little. Maybe she should just go back on the offense and get it over with, but she can't really tell with how the other girl is acting. Then again, Gabriel has always been kind of strange.

This took Gabriel off guard, as much as anything did. I mean seriously, an attack was more or less what you did in a fight. Even a well aimed surprise attack was less of a shock than what Hotaru just said. It was so surprising that Gabriel has to stare for a moment and even drops her guard. This was clearly something that required a response.
"That is incorrect Hotaru-san, I was just thinking to myself that I am blessed to be a part of this battle, I have enjoyed it so much that I am doing everything in my power to do my best. I do admit the pace is slower than usual, but I have had to slow the pace down because you have been so effective, however if you feel I am not enjoying myself and therefore going easy on me and you still manage to lose, it would still be a loss."
Oh, and she throws a jab palm thrust toward Hotaru's nosey.

Hotaru shrugs a little, only half smiling now, looking a bit uncertain. "That is true," she states. It would be a loss. Just one of many in her career. Hardly anything to stop someone like her for long. It just means having to get back up and try again sometime. But she should keep her head in the game more. When Gabriels palm strikes out toward her nose, she ends up striking the girl spot on again, causing Hotaru to stagger back a little, cheeks flushing a little from the pain.
Blinking away the watering in her eyes, she focuses harder on Gabriel now. She really seems to have a think for bonking her in the head this fight. When she charges forward again, she tries to grab hold of the other girl's arms and hold her in place long enough to deliver a sequence of painful strikes to her shin, knee, stomach, and chest, before flipping her over her knee to the ground.

The most Gabriel could hope to do with this attack was try and deflect blows, which she sort of does. Here there they come, this way, that way, up way, down way, the attacks are all over the place and therefore hard to defend. Even as she does defend the blows, they are merely deflected and still strike her all over the place. It hurts a ton, really aches. Really aches. Eventually she is knocked back enough that the attack seems to stop, but her curiosity does not.
"You are the one whom is not enjoying yourself, Hotaru-san?" Asks Gabriel inquisitively.
She honestly was not sure what to think while throwing her next attack, a low kick toward Hotaru's shin. She was also still waiting for something huge to come, huge and unpleasant.

The shin kick is avoided as Hotaru literally hops backward, putting distance between her and Gabriel, an uncertain look on her face at the quesiton the pale blond girl had posed. Normally one who enjoys the heat of a competative fight, she can't help but feel like the other girl is toying with her. Bonking her with water bottles and the like.
"I should be," she replies, squinting her eyes and shaking her head as if to get the whatever is bugging her out of her mind. "It's been a rough weekend, I think," she adds after a moment, blue eyes coming to focus on the other girl now. "But that shouldn't come between us. I'm sorry."
And now that she's started on the offense, she's determined to not let up, charging toward the other girl after having had her say and twisting her leg out into a snap kick aimed for Gabriel's chin. "Ya!"

The kick seems to come low and then continues high whilst Gabriel leaps into the air, trying to avoid something lower. While it doesn't end up being a shin kick, it does go high enough to hit the crusader in mid air, mid attack. Her arms swinging around as she spins on the way up and possibly jamming her head into Hotaru.
"Aaaaaaiie-!" cries Gabriel as she goes, working her self through the jump to land easily enough. Her breathing meanwhile is ragged and strained because this was becoming very very difficult fight. A familiar technique, but this time, unlike the last, it hits home. The Crusader of light takes a ready look, her hands opened.
Knocked clean off her feat again, Hotaru lands on her back with a gasp, rolling onto her side quickly in order to push herself back up to standing. Panting now herself, a trace of a smile on her face at Gabriel's execution of the Tenshin Shou. "That was spot on," she remarks, sounding a bit more enthusiastic at the other girl fighting back now.
She can't really keep going like this for too much longer, though. For all the endurance training she's engaged in, she's starting to wear out. Perspiration causes her hair to cling to the sides of her face while her breathing seems a bit aggrivated.
Still, she can keep going for a little bit, provided Gabriel doesn't get any more hits like that last one in. Rolling her arm behind her, bathing it in a blue aura, before swinging it forward and discharging a small, shimmering projectile back toward Gabrial. "YA!"

Okay, so this was going to be a little hard to describe, but I'll try. So Hotaru sends a projectile at Gabriel and Gabriel is all like what? And Hotaru is like what, and Gabriel is like What? What! So then Gabriel seems to tense, her muscles rippling with anticipation... But then. . she decides best to just avoid the attack all together and gets the hell out of the way. As cool as it might of looked to have let that energy wash over her, or not. Waste of tense muscles though.
Then it's her turn, time to hit back, so she er.. does.
"Hmph!" comes her grunt of effort as she jumps into the air and tries to stomp on Hotaru's head like hop scotch. It should be noted that most people think of this attack as being stolen from Chun-li, but in actuality it was stolen from Hotaru also, making Hotaru the most robbed character of all of MOTM by Gabriel.

Her projectile goes flying off stage, striking against a large fridge on display there, putting a dent into it. Hotaru winces a little but knows that she's not responsible for damages caused by a Neo League battle, so too bad for that vender!
But then Gabriel is coming at her again, taking to the air this time to come down at her with a heel kick. By now the girl is starting to wonder if Gabriel spends all of her spare time studying her own matches, because the move overlap has become quite uncanny.
Stepping to the side, she manages to avoid the attack, leaving Gabriel to land on the ground perhaps. "Sometimes I wonder if you learned from my father," the girl murmurs thoughtfully. Though that would have been impossible, considering how the man never trained anyone besides his two children.
Once Gabriel lands, Hotaru goes on the aggressive again, this time leaping forward into a whirl through the air to build up momentum as she windmills her arms toward Gabriel in order to get her to defend high. She switches to striking rapidly after she lands in order to try and pry her way through the other girl's defenses if possible. If she manages to at all, she'll finish with a Tenshin Shou of her own followed by an aerial spin-kick at the end to try and seal the deal. "Tenrenge!"

This was an attack Gabriel knew, she knew it hurt, she knew this was the painful attack she had spent literally the entire fight trying to avoid, but she had failed. She had been hit by it when she didn't expect it before. It was fast. Very fast. Pounded into the ground, as Gabriel was, you wouldn't then expect her to get up and draw from under her jacket her sword. Today there was something different with her sword though, today it was made out of wood. Even Gabriel could do a fight in a fair manner, a friendly manner.
"Avenging Angel!" she cries and rushes forward in a rave of slashes with that sword, at Hotaru and tries to pass her by.
However what maybe truly amazing . . is that this fight is apparently not over yet.

When she sunk that final jump kick into Gabriel, she felt like that woudl be enough to finish the fight for good. Landing on her two feet again, feeling thoroughly exahusted, the girl blinks with some surprise as her opponent manages to get back up to her feet after all.
And out comes a sword... fortunately a wooden one. Though Hotaru has been pretty horribly clobbered by those as of late too. When the charge comes, the girl begins weaving from side to side to avoid the first few slashes, before giving up on trying to play it risky and finally jumps back out of range, putting a little distance between her and Gabriel.
Well, she really can't stop now, even if her body is getting worn down by being kept on her toes so much. Gabriel is one tenacious opponent, that's for certain. Smiling a little, Hotaru clenches her fists, running forward again to jump into a kick aimed to let her step against the other girl's shoulder, hoping to get there before she can recover from that charge of hers, then flipping forward to land back on her feet on the other side if she can pull it off.

Hotaru's foot and Gabriel's shoulder were possibly lovers in a past life and now like then - would not be united. The crusader stumbles forward unfortunately and ends up just out of reach. She also starts to fall on her face, but tries her best to put this to her advantage and tries to do a round house kick to Hotaru. No point in being coy. She needed to hit or hit hard. She was going to go for broke. Sweat dripped in undignified drops all over from her face and her forehead. It was a waterfall of disgrace, but she was not done fighting through it. Not by a longshot.

Not quite a clean hit, but it's close. Hotaru attempts to duck beneath Gabriel's kick, only to have the foot ding her in the top of her head, knocking her sideways a little into a bit of a stagger. It's clear that she's barely hanging in there at this point herself, unable to do anything besides simply kick out a second time, this time from a less than stable posture, making it somewhat an unsteady, desperate attack.

Staggering and dragging herself as she is, Gabriel hardly has time to get out of the way with this again. Getting drilled by this kick hurt. But Gabriel was already in a better place. She starts to fall and tries for one last serious try. Wooden sword to da head. It's a slow attack and probably more than easy enough to get out of the way of, but she has to try. After that though. . Probably no conversation to speak of out of her.

Gabriel's durablity is already far more than Hotaru took her for. That she's still hanging in there after all this is just really pushing her to the limits harder than any fight she can remember recently. Usually she just gets overwhelmingly crushed or is able to handle her opponents with a certain amount of practiced ease. But Gabriel Kai seems to be a really close match for the Kenpo artist. No doubt a lot of that comes from her really knowing how the girl's technique works better than probably just about anyone.
The clumsy kick ends up striking home though, bearing all of Hotaru's strength behind it even if it wasn't delivered with precision. That it hit at all is probably an indication of how worn out Gabriel is finally getting at this point than any particular accuracy on the pig-tailed fighter's part.
"Whew," she gasps as she gets her balance back, only to realize that the sword is bearing down on her a second time. Too weary to move, all Hotaru can do is raise her arms to intersect the wooden weapon, whisper a quiet prayer of thanks that it is NOT a real sword, and block it, even though the strength of the attack causes her to stagger backward, her arms knocked aside.
In the end though, she stays standing, if just barely. Making her the winner of this bout. "Whew..."
