Kyo - Charity Begins at Home

Description: Shingo Yabuki shanghais the World Warrior champion into a charity match against an odd collection of fighters. Things quickly go downhill from there.

Taiyo High. THE largest school in Southtown, funded in part by Howard Enterprises. The very same Howard Enterprises that has brought the world such wonderful things as the Saturday Night Fight fighting tournaments, countless goods, products, and other assorted things that make life worth living.

One of many things that holds Taiyo High above many other 'smaller' schools, is that the students of Taiyo High, for the most part, are incredibly proud of the school, and are willing to physically fight for their way of life. The faculty is very aware of this, and having many 'high profile' fighters within the student body, constantly run events to showcase these students in an effort to demonstrate to other schools and the world what true Taiyo High might actually is.

Kyo Kusanagi happens to be the student that has been chosen to be 'showcased' this month, especially with him having recently come away with a championship win in this year's World Warrior tournament.

The 'showcase' arrangements were simple. Kyo, and a randomly chosen teammate that he's worked with befores, would go up against two randomly selected Taiyo High students, as well as random internet advertisements which would randomly select yet another two COMPLETELY random worldwide fighters in an effort to have a grandiose battle worthy of Taiyo High on Taiyo High's front lawn. Of course, all this random selection could backfire, but that's hardly a concern from a faculty perspective.

Unfortunately for Kyo and 'teammate' (who just so happened to be his one and only student Shingo Yabuki), the pair were given little to no warning about the event, and have literally been pulled from class (which oddly enough Kyo decided to attend for a change) to be ushered over to the front lawn of Taiyo High, where a simple makeshift arena has been erected, and where a crowd of students and general observers of fights have already gathered, awaiting the Taiyo High MATCH OF THE .... MONTH!

Shoma is one of the afore mentioned Taiyo students. He has been making something of a name for himself in recent months, through his... 'involvement' in Thailand, the Saturday Night Fights, and driving off that crazy vampire chick who broke into the school.

Like Kyo, he was pulled away from what he was doing. Unlike the Kusanagi, he was pulled from baseball practice. There will be heck to pay...

There's a piercing yodel, and a man with a mask and a gymnast's build flips through the crowd, before landing in the fighting area. Known as Balrog by Saturday Night Fight enthusaists (and a number of law enforcement agencies), the masked Spaniard waves to his 'loving' fans and tosses them a rose from his hand. "Ahh, my public! Hello, Taiyo High, and all you beautiful little teenage girls!" Balrog lifts his mask and locks eyes with one particularly good looking girl, giving her a wink. She nearly faints, and he puts the mask back on, turning around to face his foes.

One moment he's loafing in class, ignoring some terrible unimportant-sounding lecture about the Mongols while his feet are kicked up on seat in front of him. The next moment Kyo Kusanagi is being (almost) literally dragged out onto the main lawn of his high school by a mixture of classmates and teachers. The former of whom are probably hoping that he gets smacked around a little today, to each him a lesson for all those tardies and did-not-attends he's racked up throughout the years. You should see Kyo's file in the principle's office; he has an entire drawer to himself.

"Shingo, I don't exactly remember agreeing to this..." the World Warrior champion grumbles to his enthusiastic student. The spectacle created by this special "school assembly" doesn't seem to phase Kyo, who merely looks around with a slightly bored, mostly irritated look on his face. "Did they at least get somebody strong this time?" He asks, looking over his shoulder at Shingo again, "If they're just going to burn down to ashes immediately, I think I'll just leave this one to you, OK?"

School pride. It's something Sergio's never had a hand in. Of course the school he went to wasn't near as grandiose as Taiyo, but instead rather run down and haggard. If the students and faculty have pride in the facility, he's not going to fault them. High school may only last four or so years, or more if you happen to be Kyo, but there's no reason not to get yourself worked up about it while you're there.
The Italian man arrives in a fairly unspectacular way: via public transportation. A bus pulls up and stops on the road outside of Taiyo, and then drives off leaving a thick cloud of diesel smoke in it's wake. Sergio walks slowly up to the makeshift arena and takes a look around. "So I'm gonna be beatin' up kids... Guess it'll be for a good cause. Haha!"

As for the other lucky Taiyo student who'll have to face down Kyo 'I deck people who look at me funny' Kusanagi? Why, it's none other than everybody's favorite Momo, Momo! Having been out of the fighting spotlight for a while in favor of focusing on her tennis skills, she must say she's a little surprised that she's been chosen to stare down the local truant in vicious racquet-to-face combat. The organizers probably thought it would be funny to have her paired with Shoma.

Approaching sneakily from behind, the pinkest Taiyo student suddenly leaps to the baseball player's side with a sudden, "Heeeey, Shoma!" The baseball player is given a saccharine-sweet smile. "Looks like it's you and me today, huh?" And a couple of foreigners, but it's more fun to focus on this than that.

Shoma about jumps out of his skin when he hears Momo's voice. He looks down at Momo with a surprised look on his face. He should have seen this coming, WHY HAVE THEY TEAMED HIM WITH THE DEVIL GIRL AND THESE OTHER TWO GUYS?

Shoma then glances at Kyo and Shingo, trying very very hard not to pay any attention to Momo, or these other two. They are both kind of creepy.

"Believe you me, Kusanagi-san, I don't think I agreed to this either. Maybe we signed something at the beginning of the year. I could check my notebook, but, I suppose at this point it doesn't matter, does it?" Shingo Yabuki does his best to not smile as much as he normally does when he says this, but, he finds it difficult, what with him usually being in an enthusiastic jovially good mood. Still, one moment, taking down notes on the Mongols, the next, being unceremoniously dragged out to the front lawn.

At least unlike last time, he's not being dragged alone, nor is he being ganged up on by a bunch of ugly looking students.

Either way, Shingo stays close to Kyo, and does his best to smile large and wave at everyone he can. While the Taiyo High student may have little idea of what's going on, he might as well be friendly to the crowd.

Kyo's final words elate Shingo even further, his fighting spirit escalating at the chance to be able to take care of Kyo leftovers! Nodding emphatically to his mentor, Shingo grins as he almost singsongs a response. "If you must Kusanagi-san, although up against you, I'm not sure who they could've found who would be strong enough."

Sergio may be new to the fighting scene, but he's been watching fighting matches for a pretty long time, like almost anyone you talk to. Because of this when his opponents show up, and one of them happens to be Kyo Kusanagi, he realizes this may be a harder fight than he thought. "Hey, it's that flaming guy..." Probably not how Kyo would like to be known. "Guess I'm not going to hold back after all." This brings a grin to his face. He doesn't recognize anyone else, but if they're going to be in a ring with Kyo, either on his side or against him, they're probably going to be real fighters and not just whoever they could drag out of class.
And then he sees Momo. "...you've gotta be freakin' kidding me." He shakes his head a bit and pushes it out of his mind. He hasn't had any encounters with overpowered teenage girls yet, so to him it looks like she's just a decoration put in the middle of the /real/ fighters. He can't help but grin at Balrogs entrance. Maybe that'll be him, once he gets to be better known. Women swooning from a single wink? Now /that's/ power.

Balrog looks to Daigo, then to Kyo. Kyo's going to be trouble. He turns to his team, to give them a 'pep talk'. "Listen up, schmucks," he says, putting his left hand on his hip. "Those two are going to tear us apart if you guys don't listen to me. This is how we do it. Weird girl, idiot guy, you take the happy one. Other weird guy, you and me are on Kusanagi. I'm the only guy out of you three pathetic losers that can even /consider/ beating Kyo Kusanagi, you read?" He turns about without offering them another word, and drops down into a fighting position.

Kyo slowly, reluctantly climbs into the makeshift ring while stretching the trademark black and gold fingerless gloves tight against his hands. Once inside, he finally takes a good look at his four opponents: two midgets wielding sporting equipments and two tall, swarthy-looking types, one with a mask and claws. Kyo looks somewhat incredulous; "If I knew I this was going to be a freakshow instead of a real fight..."

Upon closer inspection, he recognizes the baseball player from the Taiyo student newspaper, and the guy with the mask is one of Vega's men.

"HEY!" He says, yelling at Balrog, interrupting the Spaniard's sage advice to his teammates, "You with the ugly mask on, quit sharpening your claws over there and come get your face beaten in!"

Aww, it's so cute how Shoma fears for his life whenever Momo is involved~! The tennis player gives him a cheerful laugh, without a hint of malice in it whatsoever-- which probably makes it even worse.

And then the faintest traces of derision floats across the wind, and Momo's eye twitches ever so slightly. She stands up straight and turns to Sergio, waving exhuberantly with both arms. "Hiiiii there! Are you one of the fighters today? I hope we do really well together!" Smile~ And then, to Balrog--

...nothing, since he cuts into her greetings with the battle plan. "Momo isn't weird! Momo is cute!" Her cheeks puff up indignantly, but she doesn't object to the strategy-- after how well she fared against Rugal before, even with a couple of heavy psi users on her side, she doesn't feel like getting anywhere near the World Warrior unless someone else has softened him up a bit.

Shoma does not pay any attention to Balrog's... rant. He simply levels his bat at Team ESAKA, and grins a bit.

"I'm ready when you two are!" He circles the tip of the bat before slinging it over his back. The Slugger then picks up a slight boxer's juke as he keeps a wary eye on both the World Warrior and his student.

Shingo merely follows Kyo's moves, climbing into the makeshift ring and stretching his own gloves, identical to Kyo except blue instead of black, against his own hands. Stretching for a moment, Shingo smiles widely as he recognizes both Shoma, and Momo to a degree, and waves excitedly over at them. "Hello there Shoma and Momo! Fancy seeing you two here! Well, this'll be an interesting fight to say the least! Oh! And hello two strange men that I don't quite know, but you look somewhat familiar in a way, so hello to you too! My name is Shingo Yabuki, Kyo Kusanagi's #1 student, and I'm pleased to meet you!"

Shingo's smile quickly turns to a full on grin as he falls into a fighting stance that mimics Kyo's down to even the breathing. Unlike his mentor however, he doesn't 'trashtalk' any of his so-called opponents, and merely keeps in his stance a few feet behind Kyo. Every few moments, the youth stops his stance, pulls his notebook out from his school jacket, takes a few notes, and puts it back within his jacket to reassume his stance - but for the most part, Shingo does his best to keep his eyes on the four fighters at the other end of the ring.

Balrog leaps into the ring with a graceful dive, landing in a crouch. "You asked for it, Kusanagi. Let's see if your magic holds up against the power of SHADALOO!" Ha, Shadaloo. He's still living in the glory days. He dashes across the arena at Kusanagi, seeming to be ready to charge straight into him as he lets out an ear-piercing yodel. As soon as he's within hitting distance, he leaps up into the air and flips over Kyo, attempting to grab him from behind and slam him to the arena floor with a pounding suplex. "OLE!"

"Wait a minute- what the hell! Look bud, you may be strong and good with the ladies, but I'm no pushover, you hear?" With that straightened out Sergio moves into his own fighting stance, one that's very reminiscent of a brawler. There's little specific form or function like you'd find from specific martial arts, but it does its job.
Balrog rushes up to Kyo, and Sergio is right behind him, simply assuming he was the one asked to combat the main threat. "Kyo Kusanagi, the scion of flame. Lets see how well you do when you're all wet!" If Balrog is going to try and smash Kyo with a suplex, then Sergio better fight in a complimenting manner. It'll go differently depending on how Balrog's attack goes. If he fails, Sergio will attempt to grab Kyo by the shoulders, turn him around and then put him into a headlock. With that accomplished he'll press a hand against the small of his back and release a powerful blast of watery chi to knock him away. If Balrog succeeds? He'll attempt pretty much the same, but only after dropping to the ground.

Entering the ring with all of the others, Momo draws her tennis racquet and glares down Shingo and Kyo... well, gives them a stare of concentration that looks like a ten year old trying to figure out long division, anyway. Her game face isn't really that imposing at all.

And speaking of things that aren't imposing, neither is Shingo stopping to take notes. "...hey! What do you think you're doing?" the girl demands, marching over to the Kyo fanboy even as the other fighters begin to actually... y'know, fight. In one swift movement, the tennis player tries to take Shingo's notebook out of his hands-- while he's writing, no less! --and bonk him over the head with it. "You're supposed to be fighting, not doing your homework!"

Moments before Momo makes her walk over to Shingo, Shingo deftly switches to his ultra secret blank notebook, and quickly jots together a decent doodle of Momo, that he flashes at her mere seconds before she grabs the notebook, and successfully bops him on the head with it. If Shingo were anyone else, he may seem not so amused by her actions, and might retaliate...but, alas, Shingo is Shingo. With a big grin and a genuine laugh, Shingo nods at Momo as he snatches the notebook back from her hands and tosses it in her general direction. "You're completely right Momo...but I wasn't doing homework. Taking notes on fighters and their movements is always handy for later. Either way, you can keep that notebook with the doodle. A Shingo Yabuki original! It might be worth something some day."

Rubbing his head softly, perhaps in mockery of Momo's hitting him in the head, or perhaps to get any potential scraps of paper out, Shingo resumes his stance while making side-glances at Kyo's situation...prepared to act when the time is right if need be, but knowing full well Kyo can 'hold his own'.

Kyo assumes his ready stance just moments before Sergio and Balrog's attacks reach him, a confident smirk already plastered all over his face as he calls out to them, "Ikuze!"

Balrog is dealt with first: Though the Spaniard manages to leap over the World Warrior champion, temporarily getting into his blind-spot, Kyo turns just before the ninja is able to grab him. A quick redirection of momentum sends Balrog tumbling away, having basically face-planted into the floor of the arena.

Sergio doesn't allow Kyo much breathing room; his attack comes immediately afterwards, and he manages to lock onto the younger fighter's head. Caught in a stranglehold, the scion of the flame manages to keep his wits about him, and is able to deduce the real threat, which isn't Sergio choking the life out him, but rather the palm placed covertly on the small of his back. Kyo manages to twist his body out of the way in time, such that the blast of water-chi shoots past him, towards Momo!

Shoma was ready and willing for a good, somewhat clean, and hopefully /friendly/ fight.

Balrog's declaration of alleigance to a certain would-be big-jawed dictator changes this fast, quick, and in a hurry. Shoma's shoulders shake as he reaches for the small of his back, pulling a baseball out. He considers for a moment, and then he hurls a ninty mile an hour fastball...

...right at the Spanish Ninja's back, "YOU'RE GOING DOWN!"

Shadloo is not a name you mention casually around Shoma. Not after Thailand.

Balrog is slammed to the ground by Kyo, blinking. That was fast. He'll have to reconsider this foe. His hand suddenly snaps out, and catches the ball. "Thanks, baseball guy!" he shouts, not having realized that his team mate has betrayed him. He spins about and attempts to slam Kyo in the side of the head with the ball in his hand, to stun him, before leaping up and attempting to lock his ankles around Kyo's head. Then, it's a simple spinning, to send Kyo flying.

Well that's quite the turn of events. Sergio manages to grab hold, but deal absolutely no significant damage? What the heck! That sort of thing just doesn't happen, right? (Wrong) Okay, so grabbing onto Kyo doesn't assure damage. Lesson learned. Lets try bludgeoning him, shall we? Balrog attempts to smash him in the side of the head with a baseball that to Sergio comes out of nowhere, so this will at least be keeping in the theme of keeping attacks synched. He jumps forward at Kyo, after releasing him of course, and kicks at him hard, an attempt to make him stagger back before he can land and deliver three hard punches across his body before finishing off with a palmstrike. Except that the palmstrike stops before actually making contact, and a potent blast of water shooting forth. "Haah!"

Momo looks down at the notebook in her hands, and the rushed, though decent, drawing of her within it.

"..."

The notebook is raised above her head, and brought down repeatedly upon Shingo's head. "Oooh! Take this seriously! We're supposed to be fighting for charity, not drawing goofy pictures of each other!" She'd probably continue whacking him until he actually fought back, but she suddenly finds herself subject to a veritable geyser of water chi. "Eeek!" cries the tennis player as she's blasted several yards down the arena, without pain but most certainly without dignity, either.

Crossing his arms, and tapping his foot, Shingo Yabuki merely blinks and stares at Momo as she takes the notebook he tossed her and repeatedly hits him in the head with it. Oh sure, he's smiling the entire time, and reflexively blinking upon each strike, but really...this is starting to get ridiculously silly. Even more ridiculously silly than some of the things he's pulled off during fights.

Thankfully the dreadfully lame notebook hitting his head routine by Momo is cut short by the water blast, and Shingo merely shakes his head from side to side to shake off the 'bad vibes'. Resuming his fighting stance for yet the third time, Yabuki internally resolves himself to stop letting Momo smack him, and to actually fight back should she try anything again...because otherwise this entire encounter'll be far too silly, even for him.

He only needs a moment to free himself from Sergio's headlock, but the Italian releases Kusanagi before that becomes necessary. Kyo almost forgot how enjoyable fighting with uneven odds is, but he's quickly remembering thanks Balrog and Sergio's furiously-paced tag-team attack. There's no break between techniques, and he hardly even has a moment to breathe... just the way he likes it!

The scion of the flames ducks under Balrog's baseball-wielding swipe and backpedals into the center of the makeshift ring, with Sergio hot on his heels delivering a series of hard strikes. Kyo mostly uses his forearms to deflect the first four attacks, shunting the kick and three punches away from his body harmlessly. The palm strike finisher, however, he allows to get through his defense... only for him to lift his arm up and let the attack zoom past him, just barely grazing his ribs. This leaves Sergio in a rather compromised position, arm extended past Kyo, body totally wide open. The Italian is close enough to the World Warrior to hear the younger boy faintly laugh, "Heh heh..."

"ORIYA!" Kyo leaps straight up off the ground, arms raised up above his head in a sort of jumping lariat maneuver, hopefully taking Sergio up off the ground with him. The legendary crimson flames finally make their appearance in this battle, twisting around Kyo's body like twin serpents.

Shoma growls as he witnesses what he thinks is the most passe thing ever: Someone barehanding one of his pitches.

This does not deter the Taiyo ace one bit as he charges Balrog. He reaches for the bat even as he skids to a stop. "Shadaloo has darkened Taiyo's doors for the last time!" Sawamura yells as as sweeps the bat in a grey blur at waist level, aiming to send Balrog into a handy wall,or maybe off of the school grounds altogether. It's nice to have a dream.

Sergio may be caught out of position, but Kyo's little laugh gives him just enough time to rip that arm back and cross it with his other, the twisting lariat with flame catching the arms rather than his neck as was probably intended. He manages as perfect a defense as he can, and yet. "Ouch! Jesus!" It hurts about as taking a hit head on normally does! What is up with this guy?! Well, he is the World Warrior, for starters. "God you're tough!" He then gives Kyo a grin. "Good, that'll make this fun."
He suddenly drops into a power stance, and pulls his arm back, a rumbling sound coming from the ground. He then thrusts the hand forward powerfully, and the floor of the makeshift arena rends, a massive flood of onrushing water tearing through it and bringing parts of it along for the ride, all heading right for Kyo. "Hyah!" And the fight with Shingo and Momo, and now Balrog and Shoma? Yea, he's a bit busy trying not to get barbecued to notice any of that.

Getting to her feet thoroughly soaking wet, for the third time in as many days, Momo growls ever-so-cutely and begins to wring out her hair, great torrents of water splashing to the ground with each squeeze-- those immense pigtails sop up a lot. That done, the girl pulls out her tennis racket once again and stalks up to Shingo. "Ooh, don't smile at me like that, you big mean dummy!" she says, more than a little annoyed that her opponent is content to just sit there doing nothing and let her get caught up in the collateral damage of her teammates. She draws back her leg and, with as much force as she can muster, tries to kick Shingo right in his big meanie shins!

...it would appear that she can't muster much in the way of force.

And as Momo draws her leg back, Shingo smirks at her and raises a solitary finger that he wags from side to side. "I don't think so...Momo..." with that being said, Shingo brings one of his elbows skyward, and then brings it down as quickly as he can towards Momo's attacking leg, his smirk remaining on his face the entire time. Mind you, it's not the same sort of cocky smirk Kyo has when fighting, but, it's getting there.

When the elbow connects, wherever it connects, Shingo hops back a few feet, runs a hand through his hair, and tightens his gloves before resuming his stance - although this time, he cocks one of his arms back as if readying it for a punch. "Listen Momo, don't think just because we're fellow Taiyo High students, and because you're a girl, albeit an adorable and cute girl, that I'm going to hold back in this fight. I always give it my all, be warned."

COMBATSYS: Kyo dodges Sergio's Whitewater.

Kyo lands lightly on his feet, his white school uniform boots tapping the wooden planks of the student-made arena ring. "Tch..." Looks like he wasn't able to burn Sergio as much as he hoped, and that has allowed the older fighter to prepare an impressive technique. When the ring start to shake, Kyo assumes a more defensive position, as he has no idea what to expect. However, when the gush of water and debris errupts from the ground any look of worry vanishes from his face. He charges straight into the the wave of chi-powered water.

Kyo jumps at the last moment, the toes of his feet skirting the edge of the rapids as he tucks his legs up close to his body. It looks as if he's trying to clear the projectile in one leap, and furthermore it also looks like he's not going to make it... until he touches down onto a plank of wood that the wave broke off on it's trail of destruction. He uses said plank to surf down the backside of the Whitewater technique, riding it all the way back to the man who fired it in attempt to hit Sergio in the face with the makeshift surfboard!

Balrog growls as he stands above his defeated enemy, turning around to face Kyo. He begins stalking over, his pace slowly gaining speed, before he jukes to the side and dashes in at Kusanagi's flank, aiming to sink his claw into his right shoulder and make combat more difficult for the holder of the sacred flames.

COMBATSYS: Kyo successfully hits Sergio with Strong Kick.

Sergio's seen some pretty fancy things happen on Television, but having someone surf a blast of water chi upstream has to take the cake. A normal person would realize that they were horribly outclassed and being toyed with. A cocky, confident and egocentric person, such as Sergio, thinks that it's a combination of luck and style with an 'equal' opponent. Therefore what he does next is going to look pretty stupid.
"What! That isn't going to work agains-"

*THWACK*

The board comes up and smashes right into his face, leveling him solidly and sending him bashed against the ground. He expected the board to sort of break on his face or something similar, but instead he just manages to get pummeled, and damn hard. Dazed, he picks himself up off the ground, a bit of blood running out of his nose. He lets out a short laugh, one that sounds only half amused. "Okay, done messing around. Time to kick some ass." He quickly drops down low and lowers his right fist, and then surges back into the air throwing out a hard uppercut with energy surrounding his fist. It's blatantly stolen, yea. "Water Dragon Punch!"

Gwah!? Momo finds her own shin struck as Shingo slams her with his elbow. She withdraws it with a yelp of pain, clutching her leg close to her chest and hopping in a small circle. The rotation complete, she shakes her leg to try and shoo out the pain, then glares adoribly at Shingo. "Ooh, now you're going to get it, Shingo!" Drawing back her racquet, the girl focuses what little chi she can manifest into the head as she swings it forward as hard as it can... far too distant to actually hit her opponent.

Instead, the force of the swing sends her into a spin, and the whirling dervish that is Momo curves across the ground like a top, aiming to smash the taller boy in the side with her racquet at ludicrous speed. Whether or not she actually succeeds in bowling him over, the girl continues for a few more yards before coming out of her spin, staggering a little. "Oog, queasy..."

COMBATSYS: Shingo dodges Momo's Spin Smash.

Unfortunately ludicrous speed isn't enough for Momo to actually connect her racquet with Shingo. Had she aimed for plaid speed instead, she may have stood a chance! Shingo watches every little movement Momo makes, and as soon as she even starts her swing, he's already hopped back a few times, creating a bit of distance between himself and Momo, as well as putting his back to the edge of the arena. His smirk growing wider, Shingo wordlessly begins dashing towards Momo, and uses his dashing for momentum to leap high into the air!

Anyone who knows Shingo, or has ever seen him fight knows what's coming next. It's inevitable. It's predictable. It's the....

"SHINGOOOOOO KICKUUUUUUU!!!" the youth cries out at the top of his lungs as he raises one of his legs to the sky, and upon his descent brings it down in a rapid arc, aiming directly for Momo - in this case, hoping to hit either her shoulder or collarbone, and doing his darndest to not hit the young girl in the head...since that would be bad. Should it connect, Shingo will hop back, reassume his stance, and prepare for a follow-up move. Should he not connect...well, he'll merely hop around, and try to make the best of a bad situation.

COMBATSYS: Kyo dodges Sergio's Strong Kick.

Kyo can't help but grin. That was pretty improvised, even for him. After bashing his 'surfboard' into Sergio's face Kyo lands on the ground near his opponent. To his credit, Sergio quickly recovers from the heavy blow and is back on his feet in no time. Unfortunately the powerful technique he attempts is not nearly so fast; the scion of the flames can see it coming a mile away and merely tilts his head to the side. Sergio's Water Dragon Punch whiffs past Kyo's ear.

Kyo gives Sergio a quizzical look. With Balrog and Shoma's personal grudge match having spilled over onto the street, taking them out of the fight, the odds have been evened out and things don't look terrific for team Sergio/Momo. "Hoi hoi... are sure you want to keep doing this?" Kyo inquires, taking a couple steps back from Sergio, "-It'd be dumb for a person of your level of skill risking their life for a charity match, right?"

COMBATSYS: Kyo takes no action.

So Kyo managed to avoid his attack, and all his others, that just means he's highly adept at dodging, nothing else! Clearly it's not a sign that he's simply far, far more powerful! "Risking my life? Hah! I'm in no risk, kid, trust me. I'll admit that you got skill and power, but you're not /that/ good!"
He's really not living in some alternate universe, really. His ego is just that big. It might even look somewhat impressive if Kyo was only a level or two above him, rather than the gap of skill being about as large as is possible between two competitive fighters. "Just watch, pretty soon you're luck's gonna run out, and I'll be there with a fist in your face." He gives Kyo a grin. Once he's done talking he drops down into an improvised Kung Fu power stance, pulling his right hand back and then shoving it forward hard towards Kyo's gut, a rush of water blasting from his shoulder to meet the point of contact at the same moment if it strikes true. ...course there's not much chance of that!

COMBATSYS: Momo fails to interrupt Shingo Kick from Shingo with Racket Return.

Jeez, Shingo, if you're going to announce what you're attack is... Momo is quite familiar with the notorious SHINGO KICK, and a smile plays across her lips as she takes a step back and draws back her racquet. This one is going for the stands!

...or not! The girl misjudges Shingo's angle of attack, and by the time she realizes her mistake, it's far too late to correct it. "Oh, sho--" she gets out before the WRATH OF SHINGO descends upon her, knocking her back with the cutest squeal of pain you've ever heard, tumbling across the arena for several yards before stopping face-down, butt in the air.

The audience may or may not notice that today is white with peaches.

"Owwie owwie," the littlest tennis player moans, rolling onto her back and hugging her chest. That kick packs a punch!

'Pretty soon' turns into 'right now' as Sergio's water-chi-enhanced punch lands right in the fleshy part of Kyo Kusanagi's gut, causing the younger fighter to double over. The Italian's finally managed to land a blow on the scion of the flames; Kyo even has a hand on Sergio's shoulder as he slumps against the fist, presumably for support, to keep himself upright? No such luck. Kyo's head snaps back up to look at Sergio with a lopsided grin, and the hand on the Italian's shoulder suddenly bolts to his neck and grabs it in a chokehold. He lifts Sergio up off his feet, and the hand holding him aloft starts to become very, very warm.

Boom, Sergio's entire body is engulfed in a massive explosion of crimson flame.

Thankfully for Shingo, he's not at an angle to actually see what Momo has under her skirt - nor does he want to see. Instead, the very moment she goes flying back, he gives chase! Unfortunately, when he finally closes the gap, all he's left with is Momo on her back, moaning about the pain.

Shingo may be a fighter, but he's also a nice guy...so as much as he'd love to kick someone while they're down, it's just not in him to do so. Kneeling down next to Momo, Shingo extends a hand towards her in a hopefully clear gesture that he's willing to help her up. If it's not that clear, he follows it up with a kind smile and soothing words. "Hey there Momo. Sorry about that...but I did warn you. Here, take my hand, and I'll help you up. Even if this is for charity, no need for any of us to go about hurting ourselves too--" Shingo stops mid-sentence as he hears something vaguely resembling an explosion, and turning his head for a moment looks over at Kyo's latest handiwork before resuming his attentions on Momo.

COMBATSYS: Shingo takes no action.

"Haha, goooooaAAAAAGH!" Whatever was going to be said isn't, the red-hot flames scorching Sergio and blasting him away from Kyo, causing him to fall in a bit of a heap further away. "Oh god..." That's the most painful thing he's felt in a long, long time. He's not so cocky when he gets back up, scorch marks showing on patches of his skin, his clothes having a nice crispy effect to them now. "I think I might have underestimated you..." His teeth are clenched, and his breathing is labored, "But I'm gonna do this thing to the end, one way or another!" His grin has turned into a grim one, now having finally realized he's beat. If he's beat, however, he's going to go down fighting.
Which means it's time to pull out the biggest gun he's got. He reaches deep within himself and begins drawing upon the energy found within, a massive spike of energy noticeable to anyone who can sense that sort of thing. It builds quickly and then is suddenly released, two massive waves of water forming. One is behind Sergio, sweeping him up inside of it and moving him fast in Kusanagi's direction. The other is behind Kyo, seeking him to pull him off the ground and take him to Sergio, where the only result can be collision.

COMBATSYS: Sergio successfully hits Kyo with Unrealized Potential.

Momo takes Shingo's hand as it's offered-- even if he is silly and kicked her across the stadium, Momo is cute and forgiving! You can practically here the 'Awww' from the audience.

Kyo's explosion nets gains a glance from the tennis player as well as she gets up. Once on her feet, Sergio deluges Kyo, and the little girl whistles. "I wish /I/ could do that," she says, tapping her racquet against her shoulder as she watches with Shingo.

It connects! The massive wave of water crashes into the scion of flame and picks him right off the ground. The two waves bear down on each other and then collide. At the moment of impact Sergio reaches out with both of his fists and slams them into Kyo's stomach with all the force he can manage, the energy around them creating massive eddying from the impacting waves and tearing at Kyo with their power, Sergio remaining completely unharmed within the maelstrom.

Crushed between the forces of two powerful waves crashing together, Sergio's double-gut-punches only add to the agony. It wasn't enough to take Kyo out in one shot, though. He's still standing after the assault, arms held up to guard his face from the buffeting tides. His school uniform jacket lazily washes up on Shingo's foot, blown off Kyo's body by the intense water pressure.

The waters have created a sort of small tide pool in the middle of the ring that slowly drains into the gouge in the wooden plank floor Sergio created earlier.

"Man, your techniques are really irritating..." Kyo mutters, spitting some water out of the side of his mouth. After all, he's positively soaked to the bone now!

"You really wanna see this through, neh? Alright then... I WON'T HOLD ANYTHING BACK THIS TIME!" He charges straight at Sergio, kicking up plumes of water with each step, and at the last second cocks a fist behind his head that becomes shrouded by crimson flame right before impact.

"KURAE!!" Kyo releases one of his famous flaming hook punches, striking Sergio in the chin, staggering the Italian. This sets up for a punishing series of flame-imbued punches that back Sergio all the way up to the edge of ring, whereupon Kyo knocks his opponent into the air with a leaping shoulder charge. The finisher of this five-hit combo is a mid-air version of the Oniyaki spinning lariat technique.

Sergio figures he only has one chance of surviving the attack as it comes, and that's to knock him off his groove before he can make his hits count. Kyo comes straight at him at full force, and he thrusts his right hand into the air, the technique intending to send a geyser of water up near the base of his feet to knock whoever's attacking him away. Kyo is simply too fast for this to work, however. The technique is overwhelmingly fast, and powerful to boot. If Sergio had succeeded it would have been little more than a fluke.
But as it is, he's hit solidly, with perfect execution. Shingo should be taking notes on this one. He's smashed in the face with a flaming punch and then beat backwards, punched skyward and then scorched once more. He falls down to the ground finally, collapsing into a moaning heap of burned flesh.

Shingo merely watches Kyo work in awe, almost instinctively taking notes as he does so. Without even looking away from the fighting, not only does he continue taking notes, but the very instant Kyo's jacket touches Shingo's foot, the Taiyo youth kneels down to pick it up, and, putting away his notebook, shakes the jacket dry. For a moment he considers wrapping the somewhat soaked Momo with the jacket, but figuring that Kyo's jacket is Kyo's jacket, folds the jacket up, and rests it on his arm to hand to Kyo later. Instead, he removes his own jacket, and casually places it on Momo with the intent of putting some dry garment on her so that she doesn't catch a cold. Still, he remains silent, and in total deep admiration of his idol.

Kyo lands with a small splash, then swipes his fist through the air, shaking the remaining flames covering his gloved hand loose. A cursory glance is paid to Sergio's prone body. Guess that did it. Kusanagi shrugs, shoves his hands into his damp pant pockets, and trudges over to Shingo. He extends a hand for his jacket, "He had spirit, at least. How did everything go on your end, Shingo?" He asks. Casually, as if he didn't think there was even a chance that his student would run in to trouble. And why would he, with the amazing teaching skills of Kyo Kusanagi behind him!

COMBATSYS: Kyo has left the fight here.
