Aislinn - Ais vs. Jaeger

Description: Jaeger, a new 'old' NESTS technological marvel, takes on Aislinn, the Silent Assassin, in an all-NESTS revue (and review).

Training: Aislinn

After the recent string of victories, most fighters would want to rest and reflect on their recent wins, and perhaps analyze what they've done, or maybe just set up bragging rights. Jaeger's last few opponents were definitely more powerful than he was, and yet something has carried him through. However, he doesn't have the time to dwell on his victories as much as he does the skills he used to bring them about. The honing of those powers is important, and for Jaeger, all that's left is to train for the next battle.

The fight. It's what he lives for. What drives him to wage war. Everythign is a target. Nothing is sacred. Each pitiful, mewling human, animal, plant, bacterium... if it lives? It can die. And Jaeger's entire life is dedicated to shuffling everything he sees off this mortal coil.

Not that he'd share that with many. After all, some would consider his hobby to be the sign of a much greater issues of psychosis. Nevertheless, it's easily hidden behind the pleasant sound of his voice and polite demeanor that he provides to the people around him. As he strides into the training area, he strikes it as odd. It's interesting to be seeing it from the other end. Before, he was the computer running this area, checking data, analyzing battle conditions. This time? He's here to 'use himself', and the new AI isn't half as effective as he was.

Not that it matters to him.

Heavy steps announce his presence as he's here to face off against Aislinn, the girl billed as 'The Silent Assassin'. It should be interesting, since Jaeger is anything but silent. The percussive, destructive machine destroys everything and anything in his path with a torrent of gunfire and explosives.

And so he stands like a statue, calmly awaiting his opponent.

For Aislinn, see, it's the same, and yet different. It is perhaps true that she would come the closest to understand Jaeger's point of view, his thoughts and philosophies. She, too, lives for the fight, because, like Jaeger, it's what she was born to do--in the most literal meaning possible.

Although she certainly has begun to explore other hobbies--games, 'making friends', and the like, fighting is still her primary purpose, and will always be her primary purpose. A secondary purpose of her existence, it seems, is to act as test subject for NESTS, in order to measure new agents' potential. Truly, Jaeger has already proved himself, but NESTS are scientists at heart and so they always want 'more data'.

Slipping into the testing room--its walls carefully and fully reinforced, the glass indicating the control and observation room tougher than bulletproof, Aislinn gives Jaeger the once-over, as she is certain he is giving her.

"Jaeger," she says, her voice soft, deceptively quiet, and mild. "I am sure you understand the nature of this arrangement." She continues to walk until she is about ten yards away from the other NESTS agent, and without any preliminaries, she raises her hands to combat guard, leading with her left, and her right leg slides back slightly, giving him a profile.

"So let's go."

COMBATSYS: Aislinn has started a fight here.

The response is immediate.

Jaeger doesn't need to extend any pleasantries to this vat-grown abomination. Clones, enhanced humans... revolting things. Chemistry projects gone awry, without the steady predictability of metal and motors. There's a certain strength and finality in steel and bullets as opposed to meat and chi, but it's an opinion he keeps to himself within the walls of NESTS.

A hand whips forward, and panels slide open to reveal the ugly .50 caliber revolver he keeps within his massive metal frame. The brushed chrome on the barrel indicates the meticulous care he keeps the weapon in.

The booming report of the shells echoing throughout the room indicate the strength of the gunshots as a targeting computer narrows it's focus. Normally, he goes for the most vital areas. This time, however, all six shots go towards the girl's arms and legs. Not because of any sense of keeping Aislinn alive, but because he has studied her, and beleives none of his shots will strike home if he aims for her other vitals.

COMBATSYS: Jaeger has joined the fight here.

Would Aislinn be disappointed to find out that Jaeger considers her an abomination? Perhaps not... she never particularly cared what people--or robots--thought of her, save for certain special people... ah, but the fight's on, is it? The shots--all six--strike home, and suddenly Aislinn is just not standing where she was--she is flung onto the floor, and her arms and legs are punctured and bleeding. However...

... if Jaeger expects a proclamation of pain, or anything of the such, he's to be woefully disappointed; Aislinn does not even leave a gasp for her lips as she rises again. There -is- something to be said about the finality of steel and bullets, but it's not to be said yet. Aislinn almost is... dusting herself off... and then she's leaping forward, despite the distance, twisting in midair to rake a booted foot across Jaeger's face before she lands and attempts to sweep his feet from underneath him. Both strikes are empowered, red-white electrical chi sheathing her limbs, crackling with implicit potency.

Electric eyes watch Aislinn's approach with distinct clarity. The energy again. Jaeger's fast growing accustomed to such things, and although a normal person wouldn't necessarily be able to reduce the incoming damage even if he's prepared to take it, Jaeger is capable of tossing up a shock absorber, the energy disappating through his metal form before it ever strikes his primary systems. Neverthless, the droid is hit in the head, and then swept off his feet by the considerable blow.

However, the fall turns into a roll as Jaeger's able to piston out one large hand to steady himself after the fall, and easily push himself back up again. A quick recovery time for such a massive individual.

Then comes the retaliation. Instead of making an approach, the machine raises a hand. With a puff of compressed air, he's firing a barbed dart at her, the steel tipped implement of war trailing behind it a thin length of razor wire. Should it strik her, the tip will burrow itself into her skin, and Jaeger will yank her towards him with a powerful pull. Upon her approach, he'll belt her a powerful punch to the face, meant to sprawl her accorss the floor.

And it all goes according to plan--basically. Aislinn does not try to defend against the razor wire, or the barbed dart; it finds purchase in her shoulder and she's pulled forward, seemingly off her feet, in order to be punched in the face. But she doesn't sprawl out on the floor; planting her feet the moment she reaches Jaeger, the punch hits but she bends with it, able to right herself almost immediately.

And then she's spinning, unnaturally fast, her arms snapping outwards, held stiff, used as little more than bludgeons in an attempt to blender-beat Jaeger in the head several times. She'll survive, no matter the pain and injury Jaeger brings, and sometimes sacrifices must be made...

And Jaeger is summarily bashed across the face, chest, and lower torso by the rapidly spinning girl. The fists crack his heavy armored shell, sending bits of his ceramic plating into the air and floor. Quite a powerful hit, despite being heavily armored for such assaults. Reeling from the blow, Jaeger takes a moment to compensate for the nasty attack. It would seem that she has more power to bear that he expected her to.

The response, however, comes quickly.

Both hands are raised now, and twin puffs of air announce the dual shot of two small darts, the bars glinting in the flourescent lights above as they whip through the air like bullets to peirce the young clone, burrowing into flesh should they find purpose.

If they hit their mark, jaeger will spin rapidly, his massive form hovering up over the ground a few inches while powerful minijets roar to life along his back and shoulders, spinning him rapidly. The world for Aislinn will become a horrifying blur before he disengaged the barbs at the end of the cables, and lets her fly, crashing against the bulletproof glass.

Again, she makes no attempt to avoid the darts; she feels, perhaps correctly or incorrectly, that to attempt so would be a 'bad idea'. Instead, she concentrates on what to do after. The world -does- become a blur, yes, but when she impacts on the glass, she isn't smashed into it quite in the same way as Jaeger might expect; she impacts on her feet and hands. To be sure, the impact is still tremendous, however, she doesn't, again, show any signs of the pain getting to her.

And then she's pushing off the glass, throwing herself into a tight tumble, spinning almost like Athena performing a 'Phoenix Arrow'... and, ill-advised or not, attempting to bury both lightning-sheathed boots into Jaeger's torso. This has been, to date, a most 'interesting' fight... Jaeger is certainly very, very powerful, and Aislinn is not sure she would want to fight him in an unrestricted sort of fight...

Aislinn          0/-------/=======|=------\-------\0           Jaeger

Jaeger is a soldier, not a fighter. Every battle the machine enters is an exercise in kill or be killed. Nevertheless, he's preset blocks in his programming that keeps him from annihilating people that would be of interest to NESTS.

The key word is that /he/ put them there. Not NESTS. The programmed block is there to make sure that, despite the demands of his tactical systems, he does not inadverdantly snuff out anyone that NESTS might find fascinating in the future, and thus far has kept more than a few people alive. Standard innocents and bystanders, however, are not exempt from the rule. So in a sense, Aislinn isn't being met with lethal force not because she's a NESTS agent, but because she has value to NESTS. Differences are slight, but are significant.

The girl is attacking again, the powerful hit crashing against the droid's body. His left arm is brought up, and the leg smashes firmly into the extended riot sheild he manages to open just before impact, the energy feild sparkling over him as the lighting cascades over his form. So far, the two are blow for blow, and it's time to put the hammer down, so to speak.

Hunkering down, the droid whiips backward, the keening of his jets filling the air again as he retreats to a considerable distance... and then begins to spin again. As he does so, his body rapidly deploys those razor wires again, the slicing edges seeking to shred Aislinn into hash as they whip about wildly, attempting to crash through her considerable defenses.

Fighter, soldier.. the words mean the same thing to her. She is a fighter, she is a soldier. She does not seek to kill unless ordered to; she isn't interested in wanton destruction. NESTS has a purpose and Aislinn has a role within that purpose, just as Jaeger does. Her role does not call for such acts and so she does not engage in them.

Now, then, as for the razor wires. Aislinn simply lunges forward, again; the wires whip against her, but the leather of her uniform and her movements minimize the disabling manner of the damages. Blood flies in a fine mist, and Aislinn ignores it, in favor of seeking to bury her right fist into Jaeger's solar plexus, as she closes the distance.

Kill or be killed... Aislinn has not yet had a fight of that nature, not truly. But she knows, with absolute zero-cold certainty, that she would would kill a 'fellow fighter', if she had to.

Aislinn          1/------=/=======|=====--\-------\0           Jaeger

Jaeger seeks to kill unless told to do otherwise. Perhaps this is why his capacity exeeds what the numbers would otherwise indicate. On paper, Jaeger should never be able to vanquish foes more powerful than he... but without an ounce of humanity to his name, and the lack of an immortal soul, Jaeger's always prepared to make someone die screaming, thrashing, or crying.

He's learned to love that, and like anything that's ever tasted blood, it becomes easier, if not preferrable, each time he does it.

The fist rams into his chest, damaging internal systems. Energy he can shrug off, but being punched has a physical finality to it. The fish never reaches the internal substrate where is vitals are kept, however, and Jaeger is able to continue by roughly shoving Aislinn to the side. When he does so, he responds by whipping around and pointing a 9mm automatic pistol into her face Normally, such a weapon has a short range and does little damage to a target at any considerable distance.

At this range? Any hit would be devestating as the bullets try to chew the girl to peices.

COMBATSYS: Aislinn dodges Jaeger's Power Shot.

Aislinn, if anyone, knows that 'paper' all too often never tells as much as it should. Jaeger may be a robot; he may be fully robotic. But even so--even with the very best combat AI, the very best tactical subroutines, the very best response calculation algorithms... combat is, at its heart, simply unpredictable. The cold hard truth is that nothing can be 100% calculated for.

So, she gets her punch--and then she ducks backwards and is tumbling just after Jaeger unloads. She might survive such a hit but she really wouldn't -want- to. She does -feel- pain, she just doesn't respond with the same cues and same reactions. Rolling backwards, she tumbles, then rises to her feet... and stays there. Energy is fully internalized, at this point, but still one might get the sense of a power surge, invisible, running through Aislinn's battered body...

COMBATSYS: Aislinn gathers her will.

As Aislinn charges up, Jaeger pulls back. And back. And back. As he does so, his left arm undergoes a transformation, becoming longer, thinner. The limb narrows and arranges itself into a long, tube-like gun, and Jaeger slams to a knee, steadying himself.

In Iran, this form was used to great extent, wreaking havoc with the terrorists there as Jaeger was employed to cause massive collateral damage to the forces holding hostages. It's use in battle, however, is highly impractical... unless the target is stationary.

Levelling the recoilless rifle at the young girl, Jaeger knows that the device very well may end up killing Aislinn, but he's betting that it won't, and this will remain well within the justifications that his tactical programming is giving his 'kill' block. De weapon, made primarily for blowing up armored vehicles in a single shot from considerable range, belches up a powerful armor peircing slug, which races for Aislinn to simply blow her a new orfice.

It is not -quite- successful. Aislinn, despite her immobile position, is acutely aware of Jaeger drawing back as far as he can and firing a large-caliber, armor-piercing slug. At the very last moment, she shifts; the weapon blows part of her side off, leaving a dripping hole in her. And yet she still doesn't wince.

However, nor does she race forward. Instead, she remains right where she is, waiting... or is she? Really, she's waiting for her nanotechnology to kick in--autorepair nanites doing what they can which, at this point, probably isn't -much-... but perhaps enough to help out.

As Aislinn uses her nanobots to fix a gaping hole in her body, Jaeger's not letting up. The pause between initial blast and her recovery is more than enough for him to launch yet another assault.

This time, Jaeger shoots forward like a shot, using his entire body as a 'projectile' as his jets allow him to race across the combat area mere inches off the ground. As he approaches, he begins to gain altitude slowly, and he stretches out a hand.

Should he manage to grab ahold of the girl, he'll raise her high up into the sky, flying a good twenty or thirty feet over the ground. When he reaches the apex of his attack run, he'll rear back his free hand, and simply punch the girl back down to the ground with a hydraulics assisted slam.

Despite Jaeger's jet-assisted speed, Aislinn is more than prepared to take care of the robot's assault. When his hand reaches out? He finds that he does not find his mark. Rather, Aislinn finds hers; the hand is batted aside and her hands find purchase on Jaeger's neck. She completely ignores the jets, bracing her feet, and she drags Jaeger down.

Then her head shoots forward--once, twice, three times, slamming the crown of her forehead against Jaeger's face each time. Normally she might complete the combination as she normally would... but instead she simply releases him and lets him jet past, perhaps a bit out of control.

The attack is indeed devestating. Not expecting such a forward maneuver due to the speed of his assault, Jaeger is caught off guard, and caroms away, slamming to a halt against one of the walls. It's time to initiate his own self repair systems.

Unlike Aislinn, the machine has no nanobots. All his self repair systems consist of rerouting redundant systems through other channels, re-establishing connections and seing new signals through different pathways. Unfortunately, in order to make these repairs and place things back to where they belong, Jaeger is forced to stands tock still, leaving himself open to counterattack.

The outcome is -always- in doubt. Allowing for the success of her counterattack, Aislinn wheels around--and when she sees Jaeger standing there, stock-still, she, like Jaeger, knows no mercy. How can she? She is NESTS, just as Jaeger is. The assault she chooses should, all things equal, not do any permanent damage (what -is- permanent damage to those such as Jaeger and Aislinn?) but it should, if successful, 'finish' the fight...

A most glorious fight indeed, win or lose. The Silent Assassin points at Jaeger--then raises her hand. Can he react in time? Jaeger will have to; a man-sized, dual-edged blade of electric chi rises up out of the flooring right underneath Jaeger, seeking to split him in half--spiritually.

Unfortunately, all the blade manages to do is physical damage.

Jaeger has no spirit to break, and any assaults to it are simply without effect. Unable to be demoralized, cajoled, or ditracted from his goals for the most part, Jaeger raises a hand, only to have it lopped off by the blade. How unfortunate.

Nevertheless, Jaeger feels that an appropriate response is necessary. He lifts his reamining hand, and once again, a small dart shoots forth, attempting to spear Aislinn square in the chest, the steel barb seeing to burrow deeper this time into her internal organs, where escape will be impossible. Instead of reeling her in, however, he'll hurl her straigh tinto the air, and then land a powerful rocket assisted uppercut. Than another. Then another. The repeated blows are meant to utterly annihilate the young girl... just short of her tolerance of termination.

However, she isn't -just- being tossed up and uppercutted several times; the first uppercut strikes true, and that barb is deeply embedded. But she -can- still move, and she's busy deflecting the rest of the uppercuts away from her.

The defense means she's able to land on her feet--and again, she just ignores the bar, the razorwire, and just lunges forward, clasping her hands into a doubled-up fist... and seeking to bury it into his chest, perhaps as far as her elbows.

No such luck, unfortunately. Aislinn's assault, while swift, is not enough to circumvent the mecahnical monstrocity's deflection blow. The handless arm bats the fists away with all alacrity as he backs up, seeking to get some room between himself and the ballistic little girl. While he's not low on energy stores, the warning klaxons in his head tell him he doesn't have long before he's forced to shut down for repairs...

So he starts on them now.

As before, the droid grinds to a halt a few meters away from Aislinn, slowing his systems down considerably so they can find purchase in new circuit pathways. He has many, but they're not inexhaustive.

Jaeger is slowing, she can sense it. But--so is she. Lunging forward, she pursues, for what may be the final strike. Her movements are lagged, naturally, as her own meat betrays her with its natural tendency to achieve fatigue... but she is relentless and she -wants to win-. It isn't pride at stake, exactly, though it certainly seems like it...

Her lunge takes her forward, headlong, and then her feet plant hard, transferring momentum from her feet through her body. Her upper body whips forward, her right cocked back, and then there's one more momentum transfer, her right fist arcing forward, flaring with electrical energy as she again seeks to plunge her fist into Jaeger's chest.

Despite this, however, Jaeger still has the desire to continue to battle. In order to make sure that the next attack hits, however, he's going to have to pull something drastic out of nowhere.

Sensing Aislinn's aggressive posture, he prepares for a final attack, shifting himself into a defensive position, and readying himself for the final pass.

She knows he's prepared... she will be prepared as well, simply choosing to prepare in a different way.

No nanobots, this time; simply the calming of stressed muscle, the clearing of her meat-bound mind. Preparing. This is it, the crux of the fight...

It's about this time that Jaeger is off like a shot. Allowed to make another move instead of attacked as he assumed he would be, Jaeger bursts forth, his remeaning armor plates shearing away at the sudden acceleration. Fully charged, albeit heavily damaged, he zooms towards his target at breakneck speeds. His lighter-armored form is slimmer, gaunt, and much, much swifter.

As he approaches, the droid seems to blink out of existance.

Nothing shows where he might have gone, if indeed he's gone anywhere at all. There's a silence for a spit second...

And then Jaeger is on the other side of Aislinn, rematerializing out of thin air. If Aislinn is fast enough, she'll notice that she has a limpet mine attached to her forehead. She may be able to discard it in time. Otherwise? The concussive force from the blast should be enough to knock her off her feet.

Well, that is... interesting. Few humans can achieve speed like that--certainly, Aislinn isn't, normally, capable of that kind of speed. She can achieve bursts of speed, when necessary, but to have her reflexes tuned that high all the time...? She isn't sure what it would do to her.

Undeniably, however, she cannot avoid the fact that she has a mine attached to her forehead. Her reaction is instant, and instantaneous; she rips the mine off and tosses it straight up, her arm flashing upwards, the mine flying up to the ceiling to concuss it. Workcrews will fix that--now, Aislinn lunges forward, drawing her right hand into her hip, bracing it at the wrist with her left.

With a sizzling sound, akin to the famous 'lightsaber ignition' from Star Wars, a triangular blade materializes from that right hand, extending forward two feet, and though it isn't a physical weapon, there's no doubting the way Aislinn attempts to plunge it straight through Jaeger's torso.

It looks like Aislinn has a little more wherewithall than Jaeger suspected!

As the concussion bomb goes off without destroying the target, Jaeger's forced to make another pass. Swiveling around on one leg as he explodes forward again, a shoulder mounted laungher engages. The parrot mount weapon whirls, and lobs several high spheres into the air, which arc to land behind the young girl.

If they manage to detonate, they'll throw Aislinn high into the sky, where Jaeger will meet her.

Using the torque from a sudden stop, he'll twist through the air to land a powerful spinning dropkick on her, hurling her across the room.

Land behind her? Not... exactly. Aislinn goes into motion as those spheres are launched--she -does- go into the air, but before the spheres are launched, and as they fly through the air... she's working quickly, far more quickly than she probably should be able to.

One sphere is grabbed, then another, and they're thrown with unerring accuracy at the others; the concussion grenades explode, buffeting the room, but leaving Aislinn free to drop to the ground firmly, not where Jaeger was expecting her to be for the drop kick--which means, she assumes, that he didn't jump after her...

Let's try this one last time.

Jaeger swoops by again, launching the grenades into the sky. One after another, the spheres are now time locked to explode slightly earlier to ctach the young girl off her guard. The grenades hurtle through the air, bright silver flashes to the corner of the eyes. He didn't get to follow up with his kick, but that's fine, because now he's going in for a low shoulder tackle, presenting a much more powerful profile with which to strike.

He's running low on power now... if he can't hit soon, Aislinn will no doubt counterattack with much more power than he can take.

She won't make the tactical error that she made the last time. Returning the grenades is out of the question; fighting a delaying action like that can only lead to Aislinn losing. So she takes the offensive, once more. The concussion grenades fling Aislinn into the air, but she is not going up flailing and out of control. She's crouched, and when Jaeger comes in for his shoulder tackle...

Well it looks odd. Aislinn spins hard, once again battering Jaeger with several blows from her arms, using her Whirlwind Lariat technique to, she thinks, end the fight. But she knows that all warriors have a last gasp...

One last gasp...

Or a flurry of micro-missiles. The swarm of rockes burst forth from Jaeger's frame, flying every which way. Due tot he damage inflicted on him, the machine is unable to get a decent lock on his target, so while he's able to form his hand weapon with the remaining parts he has left still attached to his frame, he's unable to accurately land the hit.

Granted, perhaps with the sheer amount of destructive force he generates, the attack will be enough.

Following the assault, the machine skids into the wall, and goes silent, runing lights dimming and sparks dying down. NESTS will need to issue some repairs.

COMBATSYS: Jaeger can no longer fight.

COMBATSYS: Aislinn takes no action.

COMBATSYS: Aislinn can no longer fight.

That final assault is enough; not as many of the micromissiles will find Aislinn as Jaeger might want, but enough will strike to bring her down to her knees. She's still conscious--barely. But she, like Jaeger, will need repairs, as her nearly-ruined body also skids to a halt, on her knees. Who knows what the scientists will make of this epic battle?
