Tenma - School Spirit

Description: Former Gedo attendee Aislinn Doyle shows up on campus to beat up students and vandalise the dojo; you know, the usual. Unfortunately for her, she runs afoul of Tenma Kiryuu, who demonstrates unexpected school pride and forces a surprising conclusion on the Silent Assassin...

Gedo High--bastion of academic quality and pride of Southtown. In some mirror universe, maybe. Really, Gedo isn't -that- bad... but it -is- a school known for roughhousing and a school known for violence. The kind of school that teachers fear, unless they're a special breed.

And no, Aislinn -isn't- a teacher. But students probably recognize her--their memories are not so short, after all, and it wasn't all that long ago that the girl attended Gedo--both defending it and insulting it, sometimes even on the same day, or even alternating school periods.

She did far more bad than good here, so Tenma, wherever he may be, might be hearing the sounds of a particularly pitched battle--a battle punctuated by cries of pain and shouts of words that do not favor young women of good breeding.

Now, Tenma's never really seen what the big deal was about Gedo's reputation... As far as he's concerned, it teaches much more vital skills than square roots and how to intepret poetry. Being rather new to the school himself, he never attended it before the reign of Daigo Kazama, so his entire experience at Gedo High has involved the virtues and goals instilled in the student body by their boss, a big scary dude if ever there was one. But a good guy none the less.

As such, Kiryuu actually has a sense of school pride, being here. It's not like the schools he attended back home, all the same as every other school, with nothing to make it stand out at all. He actually /likes/ being here, and the people. He's just not very good at showing it, as per usual; his school spirit isn't even enough to make him wear the actual uniform, which let's face it, is pretty damn ugly. So when he hears the sounds of violence on campus, the leader of the Guardian Kings is naturally drawn to the source thereof, which would be how he ends up sitting on the edge of the roof of the dojo, one leg dangling off casually, his wrapped bokken slanted over his shoulder.

"Jeez..." Tenma wonders aloud, as he sees... Whatever it is the 'Silent Assassin' is doing. "Th' hell is goin' on here?"

Well, what she is doing currently... is burying her right foot into a student's gut. Said student has the temerity to throw up rather messily over her leg--which, while her expression doesn't -change- persay, is pretty gross. She makes her dislike of this pretty clear with the way her leg whips over to hurl the vomiting boy over to a tree. Yuck.

One of the less-beaten members of the Gedo kids brightens when he sees Tenma. "K-Kiryuu!" he cries, sharply, limping over. "That--that's Aislinn Doyle. She usedta go here... really pissed a lot of people off while she was here. Dunno why she left... or why she came back!" Two more people rush her, while Limpy is talking, and they get beaten for their trouble, Aislinn employing elbow and knee to beat them down.

"Y--you gotta help...!" Funny enough, also visible, propped up against a tree, is a big wooden sign, and (if read vertically) it reads "Saikyo-ryuu Dojo" on it.

"I think she's gonna try and put that sign on the dojo..!" Ah, Limpy...

Expression flat, Tenma's dark blue eyes study the scene below, watching the way Aislinn moves with a rather canny gaze. "Aislinn Doyle, huh?" he repeats, slowly undoing the tie on the cloth sheath of his bokken. "Guess she's pretty strong," the tall youth mutters, half to himself. But, like Limpy says, he's got to help, right? He can't just sit around and watch his schoolmates get beat up and some crazy chick insult the pride of Gedo High. So, as the cloth sheath falls to the rooftop, Tenma half-falls off of it, managing nevertheless to land on his feet, the impact kicking up dust around him.

"Feelin' pretty big, beatin' up on a buncha smallfries, huh?" Tenma wonders of Aislinn, apparently putting his fellows out of his mind entirely. "Gonna feed you that sign," he adds, with a big shit-eating grin, before he... Bites his thumb, hard. Crimson flows from the wound he gives himself, down that digit and into his mouth, and then he draws his thumb down the wooden blade of his bokken, painting a stripe of red along it; the wooden sword is swept through the air once, activating the chi link, enveloping the blade in a crimson aura of bloody chi. And then, without a further warning, he lunges right at the mystery girl, hoping to gain her full attention by smacking her in the face with the tip of his bokken.

Kick, punch, punch. And then... it's not as if she could miss the landing of Mr. Kiryuu... she slowly turns, as he makes his entrance, oh so dramatic with the falling cloth, the streaks of blood flaring into chi energy, and by the time he's actually jabbing at her with that weapon, she's turned and is facing him.

'Feelin' big' he says... she's actually rather small, and the strike cracks across her cheek, forcing her head to turn--but only a degree, before she turns it back.

"No," she replies, as her head turns back to face Tenma's wrath, and she seems unconcerned by the strike she just took.

"Destroying them was only a means to further my objective," she continues, as she exhibits some of her own speed, suddenly lunging forward with a jabbing strike of her own--perhaps intent on simply returning the favor. But what -is- her objective...?

As she strikes, she murmurs, "Tenma Kiryuu... new Gedo student... I've already defeated Ashima... I suppose you are next..."

Ain't that always the way though? Getting punched in the face. Tenma is almost caught offguard by Aislinn's speed, already in the process of pulling his bokken back as she lashes out with her fist. But the Gedo swordsman just smirks confidently, and stands there and takes it. It's possible there wasn't even any room for him to do anything else. His feet skid back a few inches, as it's a surprisingly powerful strike given the speed behind it, but he's already lashing out again mere heartbeats after the punch strikes him.

That bokken sweeps through the air in a wide arc, but it's not close enough to hit Aislinn by any means; instead, in the wake of the slash, a crescent of red launches itself at the girl. It's blood, roiling and fluid, aiming to crash into Aislinn rather painfully... Plus it'll probably put some bloodstains in her shirt. "Guess we'll see what you can do then, huh?!"

COMBATSYS: Aislinn blocks Tenma's Dharmapala.

Guess we'll see. But Aislinn's goal isn't really to put the sign up... though if she beats Tenma then she'll certainly do that. Rather, she'd heard about some--pardon the pun--new blood, at Gedo, and she found herself curious. Other than Acacia and Edge, she hasn't really gone up against anyone of note at Gedo... Daigo was always busy and she didn't want to challenge that massive man anyways... but regardless.

The crescent of blood splashes not into Aislinn's body, but against her arms, and while the impact forces her back, she doesn't seem particularly disturbed by it... blood washes out, and she's been trained not to react to the sight of it. It is most curious, though; she can't help but swipe a fingertip through it and take a taste, before setting herself and beckoning at Tenma in the traditional 'come-hither' motion...

COMBATSYS: Aislinn focuses on her next action.

It is, in fact, Type O.

Tenma might even be a little disappointed that Aislinn doesn't immediately come after him, but instead stands there and beckons him onward... Being rather more cunning than the average Gedo student, he gets the impression that something might be up. Besides, the simple fact that she didn't get weirded out by his rather unusual mode of attack is kind of unusual too; usually people go on about how gross it is or, in some cases, call him an 'emo'. He still doesn't know what that is.

"What, really? You're just gonna stand there like a dope? Tch... An' that punch earlier was just for show, too. How'd you beat Ashima, showin' him your ta-tas?" Kiryuu is... Really a nice boy. "I guess he wouldn't be bothered by anythin' that flat, anyway." As he talks, a seemingly unending diatribe of trash, his free hand slides down to his pants pocket, index finger hooking onto something. "Stop standin' around... An' fight!!" His hand whips up from his pocket with blinding speed, releasing /something/ towards the Silent Assassin.

It's a kunai. He stole a bunch from Seishirou in Thailand.

COMBATSYS: Tenma successfully hits Aislinn with Thrown Object.

Kunai. Aislinn has seen them before... and really, she's moving forward even before the kunai's released. Which means, of course, she should be able to dodge around it--except she isn't. The hit staggers her a step, but she's already committed--taking three long steps, lunging, and leaping forward, attempting to reach Tenma with a flying knee, rather like a Tiger Crush at that... or perhaps a better template would be the Tiger Knee that Joe employs.

The reasoning behind that? Aislinn knee is flaring with electrical energy, red-white and carrying quite the snap behind it... -if- it lands. Aislinn knows its dicey. And she never reveals her secrets.

COMBATSYS: Tenma interrupts Medium Kick from Aislinn with Initial Breaker.

Aislinn          0/-------/--=====|===----\-------\0            Tenma

With Aislinn moving forward already, Tenma too changes positions immediately after releasing the kunai; the blue-eyed Gedo gang member seems quite content to face down the strange girl's charge, pulling his swordhand all the way back and levelling the weapon horizontally across his body, pointed at the oncoming freight train that is Aislinn Doyle. His free hand is held near the tip of the blade, unaffected by the red aura around the weapon, almost bracing it...

And he's actually seen people hitting with lightning before, too. It reminds him of Alan. Stupid, stupid Alan.

Tenma's teeth show in a confident grin, but his attention is quite solidly focused. Waiting for the exact moment, the exact spot... And then he lunges forward, stabbing with his bokken in a speedy strike, thrusting /past/ her knee, which grazes against him rather than hitting full on due to his movement, while he stabs the Silent Assassin right in the solar plexus. The weapon doesn't pierce flesh, but the blunt force of the bokken is focused on a single small point, along with that raging blood-chi...

Tenma clearly watches too many samurai movies. "You're WIDE OPEN!!"

Again, interesting. Aislinn feels she's on the 'losing end'... but unlike most fighters, that just isn't the point. She lands, and stumbles back... but her lips are actually curved into a small smile. Maybe it's the cheesy dialogue (god, get a writer), maybe it's something else... but Aislinn does enjoy the battle, in its pure form. Still, there's something to be said for give -and- take, and Aislinn wants to do more giving than taking.

Though it isn't entirely up to her, of course; she lunges forward again, throwing herself into a low sweeping kick--only, perhaps it's a -feint-? If so, it may come very close to hitting, but it clearly won't, because the real focus of the attack is when Aislinn raises her hands--and summons a blade of lightning up from out of the ground right underneath Tenma, a blazing energy that seeks to split him in two.

COMBATSYS: Tenma endures Aislinn's Shining Edge.

Aislinn          0/-------/--=====|======-\-------\0            Tenma

For Tenma, much of his formative experience involved illicitly watching too many action movies and anime and the like while his rather staid and ascetic parents weren't paying attention; so, he has some skewed ideas about what you 'should' do in the middle of a fight. Mostly, it involves talking a /lot/ of trash. He braces himself against the feinted kick, apparently falling for it, because he then promptly gets hit with the lightning blade from the ground, his entire form tensing from the electricity rocketing through his system. "GAAAAAAAAAAAA-!!" It kind of hurts!

But it doesn't hurt /enough/.

Still electrified, Tenma lunges out of the fading blade of lightning, continuing to bellow loudly, reaching to strike out at the Silent Assassin while she's still low to the ground, his bokken swinging in a wide, vicious arc right about neck-height on her... A decapitating strike, if he were using a live blade. Or if Aislinn weren't of the caliber she is. "...AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-!!!"

COMBATSYS: Tenma successfully hits Aislinn with Fierce Strike.

Aislinn          1/-------/=======|=======\-------\0            Tenma

And Tenma's strike is---right on target--! Aislinn is dropped like a rock, and... and is that -it- for her? No... no, clearly not. Despite the fact that her face looks like a goddamn mask of blood, and that her neck should be separated in two, or at least broken... once floored... she rises again.

"You hit harder than Ashima," she remarks, offhandedly... but wait, what's that in her hand? Or--hands, actually--as she picks up one of the unconscious Gedo students and simply spins once, before shotputting him -right for- Tenma! A crude, Vega-like tactic, but one that can be useful at times... of course Gedo students being Gedo students, compassion may not enter into it.

COMBATSYS: Tenma dodges Aislinn's Large Thrown Object.

Yeah, that's the ol' pepper. Tenma straightens up after knocking Aislinn down, standing in a deceptively casual stance with his bokken slanted against his shoulder, his left hand tucked in the pocket of his uniform slacks, the red prayer beads there glinting faintly in the light. "'course I hit harder than him," he says, confident smirk back in place. His conviction that he's pretty much the best thing to ever walk the Earth seems to radiate from every pore, and he draws his strength as much from that as his strange blood-chi. It's a delicate balance, you know.

When the othe Gedite is kicked his way, that smirk turns into a frown of distaste, but Kiryuu just leans out of the way. The guy's already out cold, it's not like he's gonna feel it, right? And besides, Gedo High isn't a place for mollycoddling.

"Too bad for you, I'm actually feelin' in a righteous mood today," Tenma says to Aislinn, suddenly rushing forward. He throws his sword arm out, extending it fully, slashing twice, horizontally, from the elbow at the Silent Assassin, hoping to force her back as much as, you know, hit her in the headmeats. "So I'm gonna havta kick your ass right off campus!!"

COMBATSYS: Aislinn fails to counter Medium Strike from Tenma with Brutal Hammer.

Aislinn          1/-----==/=======|=======\-------\1            Tenma

Struck twice. This is definitely not going well--Aislinn tracks the slashes of the bokken but--is unable to find it in time to avoid getting struck twice. She reels back, bleeding--or is she, it's too hard to tell with Tenma's blood-chi all over her. Yeah, Ashima was definitely an easier fight... or maybe today just isn't her day. Whatever it is.

But, she remains stoic to the last, and once she's done reeling, she raises her arms again.

"If you can," she agrees, her voice juuuust this side of pleasant to neutral. She bears no ill will to a fighter in combat--Tenma hasn't yet done anything -extremely- stupid or rude...

Skidding to a halt after his forward lunge, Tenma seems awfully pleased with himself here, but then he usually does. It's not, however, /entirely/ unfounded... And there's definitely a reason why he's the leader of the Guardian Kings - aside from the part where he's the one who founded the team. "Guess I'll just havta show you what everybody else knows, then," he says, positively oozing self-confidence. He flicks his wrist, changing his grip on the bokken entirely, holding it backhanded... And then he puts his other hand on the hilt, holding it up over his head, pointed downwards. What could he be up to?

Driving the blade down, the red aura around it flaring as he does so, Tenma falls to one knee and buries the bokken into the hard-packed earth underfoot, the practice sword penetrating as though it were soft, flavourful butter. The crimson aura around his bokken seems to flow downwards, into the earth, and for a long second, nothing at all happens.

Suddenly, cracks begin to spread out from the point where the blade is driven into the earth; as the cracks widen, gouts of blood start to spurt out of them... And they widen further, elongating, as more and more blood pours out of them, turning into a series of linear flows of crimson, all winding their way towards Aislinn, running along the ground, serpentine, formed like dragons. And Tenma bellows again: "GO TO HELL!!"

COMBATSYS: Tenma successfully hits Aislinn with Hell of Blood.

Gouts of blood, it seems, are hard to defend against. The wavecrest crashes over Aislinn, knocking her back... but what the hell--she got what she came for, really. Not too coincidentally, she hits the tree where the replacement sign was--and it falls over, but is already forgotten. Aislinn--for all the damage, and she -is- quite damaged--again seems unperturbed, perhaps almost unnaturally so...

She merely inclines her head to Tenma, silent concession; he's not anywhere near the point where she could win against him with even a final attack. Of course, that doesn't mean she isn't going to try. Dropping to one knee--as if she were injured (don't tell her she's not faking it)... she gives off one last surge of energy, power flaring up invisibly... then tension snaps, like a string, and a blade of energy hurls itself up out of the ground.

In fact... it isn't just one blade--it's a series of them, rippling up almost like those gouts of blood, each one bursting forward, then falling lik e a domino--but the starting point is just in front of Tenma, rather than in front of Aislinn. Hit or miss, by the time he can get around it or survive it, Aislinn will be... gone.

COMBATSYS: Aislinn can no longer fight.

And in the aftermath of his attack, Tenma is still crouched on the ground, grasping his bokken which is still impaled into the earth underfoot. The cracks will get better sooner or later, he'll get the guys who got beat up to fill them in. Losers don't get to complain, you know? But his blue eyes widen as he /feels/ that invisible surge of energy, palpable as it streaks towards him, but he can't really tell what it is, or where it's going to go, which makes him wait a second too long... When he sees the blade of eenrgy, he just grits his teeth, and sits there and /takes it/.

The fact that it's more than one blade of energy is kind of an unpleasant surprise, but...

By the time the attack is done, Tenma is just as bloodied as Aislinn - or nearly so, at least - breathing heavily as he tries to recover from the damage done, blue eyes scanning around for the Silent Assassin... But she's gone. "Tch..." he mutters, standing up somewhat shakily, and yanking the bokken from the earth, the red glow around it dissipating with a sound like an slow exhalation, the red line painted on the blade since disappeared.

"All right, the rest of you saps!" he calls, looking around at any other nearby students still conscious. "Let's get this mess cleaned up." But by 'let us', he really means them. Like hell he's doing manual labour after that! They're the ones that got beat up.

COMBATSYS: Tenma has ended the fight here.
