Neo League 426 - #437: Himeko vs Tran

Description: Hurricane Hime vs Dr. Tran in: The Rumble Fish! In the Southown Aquarium, Tran finds out HE HAS A FAN. It's crazy, just like the fight itself! But does Tran blow it? And might his schoolgirl curse lifted? (Winner: Tran)

Southtown Aquarium: after hours. The hallways running between the various tanks of strange, freakish fish are dark most of the way through the building. The place where one Dr. Tran, Real Doctor of American Science, stands is a notable exception due to an unusual concentration of what are known in the scientific community at large as 'cool-looking glowy fish and crap'. They bathe the area in an eerie glow, and the Neo League camera crew is making sure to get plenty of sweet panning shots.

At the moment, Tran is standing silhouetted against one such fishtank, a white bass guitar slung over his shoulder, waiting for his opponent for tonight to arrive. Or maybe just waiting to notice her, these fish are pretty awesome.

Ah, it looks like it's that time again, the time for Neo League fighting, which means it's not only time to put some fighting skills to the test, but another chance for a certain girl to promote the importance of literacy!

Hurricane Hime isn't a doctor by any stretch of the imagination, she'd probably say that she was a Real Superheroine of Literacy.
Now, this girl is completely capable of identifying most, if not all the fish in that tank, but she has a much bigger 'fish to fry', as it were. There's the sound of creaking from afar and then the doors are suddenly kicked open with a loud WHAM!! A girl, about 4 feet tall, looks about fifteen years of age otherwise comes storming in clad in a dark-pink costume and a matching oversized scarf about her neck, "ORYAAAH!!" she cries, with a black book in hand and makes a mad dash toward the camera crew.
She could be very angry.. She could be looking to make sure this fight starts the moment she's in cameras view.. Or.. "TRAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!"

Hime comes screeching to a halt, dusky skin lightly sheened in sweat and looks slightly wiped from running such a long distance. But there are stars in her eyes and she holds the book open as she hops lightly on her feet, "Dr. Tran, I've been waiting forever for a chance to fight you! Can I please have your autograph? Please please, I'm a big fan!"

Yes. He has a fan.

Instantly, upon hearing his name shouted in such a fashion, Tran turns, face full of fury, fist held up to the sky, "ALMAAAAAAAAA-wait, what?" He pauses, blinking for a moment, and then slowly lowers his fist, staring at H.H. herself. Slowly, the doctor's mouth sags open, a look of more or less complete amazement on his face.

After staying silent long enough for this to sink in, Tran shuts his mouth and forces a grin, still uncertain in this strange, new territory he's found himself in. Is this...is this the price to be paid for joining the Glory Hounds? Cursed to Alma's fate of screaming teenage fangirls? Squaring his jaw, Tran reaches into his coat, one hand going to each side, and pulls out two things: the first is a pen, and the second is his lucky pair of sunglasses.

Slipping the glasses on, Tran forces a grin on his face, and then holds the pen out, ready to sign at a moment's notice. "What...who should I make it out to?" By god, he's going to manage this if it kills him!

The little Hurricane doesn't seem to be changing her mind anytime soon, no. She would have bust out laughing in response to Trans very first instinctive response, but thinks the better of it for now. But she's shining like a little lamp post, her lips curled inward once he draws out his glasses and pen. It's to no suprise that he'd be prepared for such a situation; the minute or two pause there was just for suspense, enough time for her to bask before his might.

The book held out still, she makes it quite clear, "Hurricane Hime, your opponent!" though she does have to pause a moment after that, her left brow quirking, and then lowers again, "Well actually, it probably would be better not to add 'your opponent'. And can you draw a tiny little heart over the 'i's instead of dots, that'd be really cool."

Nodding, Tran leans forward ever so slightly and signs his name.

'To Hurricane Hime, my biggest fan.'
-Dr. 'Tornado' Tran

Of note is the word biggest, which looks like it started out with 'on' before Tran changed his mind and did his best to change it, and the dots above the 'i's, which are, in fact hearts. Hearts surrounded by explosions, hell yeah!

It might be a little much, all told, but it's not a bad first try. Tran clicks his pen, and slides it back into his coat, before stepping back and crossing his arms.

"Alright, Hurricane Hime! I'm ready whenever you are!" It's really bravado - she's that age, after all. Dr. Tran's inexplicable secret fighting weakpoint - the Japanese Schoolgirl.

Awww! Well it isn't an error that Himeko immedietly catches, despite how obvious it might be in someone elses eyes, she figures it was the start of some joke that met a horrible, cut-short death. She turns the autograph book right-side up, and the admiration in her expression is unmistakable.

Though Tran does have to deal with a fangirlish shriek once she notices the 'Tornado' in there. Obviously the explosions are a plus. Obviously it puts her in an extremely positive mood, one so positive that she might very well possibly fight harder than she's ever fought before in her life.

And so when he declares the match as started, she goes right on ahead and starts it; which might be seen by some as jumping the gun, others might see it as the quickest reflexes on earth. Either way, Tran has a brightly beaming girl holding the now closed book over her head with both hands, leaps into the air and attempts to slam the thing right into his face. "Thank you very much!!"

Aw. She's so...excited! And only a little completely insane! Tran can practically feel his cold, hateful heart melting away in his chest, leaving only a gooey mass where a functioning, life-giving organ would be.

Luckily for him, that's not actually possible. Still, heaven forbid, but the doctor actually kind of likes this kid. Sure, she's trying to beat him up - but she has a reason, at least, and she hasn't jumped him in a dark alley somewhere to do it! That's extra points in Tran's book, any day of the week.

Still, he can't help but be a little put off as she tries to whack him with the book his autograph is in. That's like the first one he's given out, it's going to be worth millions someday, a total collector's item! Raising his hands, Tran softens its impact, wincing only slightly at the pain it causes as it crashes down on his palms. "Hey, hey, careful, don't spend it all in one place!" Wait, what? Well, whatever.

Mustering his will, Tran twists his body and tries to plant his foot squarely into Himeko's torso, pushing her away roughly. "Still! Show me your best!" Tran really can't believe he just said that. He really can't.

COMBATSYS: Tran successfully hits Himeko with Light Kick.

The element of suprise didn't quite work there, no, but of course Hime wouldn't be so careless as to risk getting the darn book destroyed or bent in some way with the way she swings the darn thing. Though it doesn't look like she'll be trying again, because the autograph book is then places within her oversize scarf, and replaced with a manilla covered paperback book, about the size of a math textbook.

She had intention from the very beginning to show her best, but even still she chirps back with a, "Yes, sir!"

His foot meets its mark, there was an obvious effort of the smaller opponent to slip out of the way there, but hitting her torso is definatly a 'go' plan, enough to knock her back and send her crashing onto her back as well. But she kip-ups to her feet, "I'm ok!"

Himeko dashes back at Tran and gets nice and close, in which she then bursts forward with a flying knee attack. Staying suspended in the air, this is followed by a kick with the opposite leg, and then a third kick after that, "Hryah hyah hyah!!"

COMBATSYS: Tran dodges Himeko's Xou da Xuxa.

Well, Hime certainly is /surprising/, just perhaps not in such a way as to bring Tran off-guard long enough for her to solidly nail him but good. He is a little relieved when she puts her autograph book away, at least.

"Alright!" It's a sort of random exclamation, and yet Tran can't think of anything better to say - really, he just feels like he should say something. Anything, really, he doesn't know, he's a doctor, not a linguist, damn it. He does back up his word by leaping backward, narrowly avoiding Hime's initial knee. When her follow-ups strike out, he sways to one side, just out of reach, and then twirls back the other way with a flourish of Coat.

"Aha!" Ducking in to try to take advantage of Hime before she recovers, Dr. Tran reaches for the neck of his guitar, sliding it off his shoulder. It scrapes against the floor as he brings it around, finally tearing it upward in a vicious arc toward Hime's entire Hime!

Hmn now this was unexpected! An unexpected turn of events as it were!
Hurricane Hime is currently not prone to be swinging about random weapons, it might fit into her gimmick well, but that's not something she had considered. Not long ago she had fought Elle, so seeing the guitar isn't as suprising as it potentially could have been.

Hime snickers a little though, to Trans outburst, but the guitar itself is not laughing matter. It comes swinging forward with dangerous intent, but the little Hurricane has plans of her own! At the exact moment the guitar swings in, is when she leaps up and drop kicks Tran right in the mush, "ORYAAAAAA-OOOOWW!" This doesn't save her from the swing, however. The weapon hitting dead-on still, though with less impact, she's swatted into the air like a badminton birdie! But she does twirl in the air, and land in a neat little crouch, her scarf whipping behind her as she declares proudly, "And /that/ is why they call me Hurricane Hime!!" And then she holds her arm, cringing in pain.

With a grunt of surprise, Dr. Tran gets smacked full on in the face by Hime's double-nasty drop kick! It sends him staggering back a few steps, and he even wipes his mouth off. There's a little bit of blood there from the fierce impact!

"Not bad!" Tran grins despite himself. There's just something about that little bit of bragadaccio that he finds endearing. It's like she's a tiny, female him! "But can you handle...this!?" Slipping his guitar back onto his shoulder, Tran takes a couple of quick steps forward and then spins, like the tornado which he has only so recently taken as part of his own legendary naming scheme! The doctor revolves once, lifting his leg up, and then flinging it outward at the teenage dynamo of literary power in a mighty tornado reverse roundhouse kick!

It's only to be expected from a fan, isn't it? However she's still a beginner, and still doesn't quite fully understand what it means to be a complete and total badass... Which is a title she hope to gain one day... one day.. However, she'll have to get the fundementals down before anything else!

For a moment it looks like Hime is in trouble, but she has a very important weapon... A PAPERBACK BOOK! She holds it with both hands, and uses it as a shield of sorts against the first kick that hits with a resounding thud, and the second kick- Oh there is no second kick. It's worth noting upon impact, the book didn't even bend an inch. Space-age paper, perhaps?

"Ha ha!!" Hurricane outbursts in a very Saishu-like manner. "A little too easy, Doctor, I hope you aren't holding back! Hey have you ever been to Honalulu? Try this, then!!" She leaps up and over Tran in a little crouch, however in mid-flip she reaches into her sidepack to grip a small handfull of index cards. When she lands, she whips the cards out like a rope, the link of paper wrapping about Trans neck three time, and finally she leaps and hands upside-down from the choke, bouncing like a bungee cord, "Huaaaah!" Though after the third bounce, presuming the hold happened in the first place, the chain breaks, leaving her crashing onto the floor.

Well, maybe Tran's not a /complete/ and total badass. Let's say around 99 percent though, at least. Just to be safe, you understand.

In any case, the one kick is usually enough - for Hime to stop it so well is no small feat in itself! That kick is like an earthquake in a can, cooked out on the open plains by a group of hard-working cowpokes, tired after a long day's cattle rustlin'. It's what gives those cowboys the energy they need to go on, so they can see their little missus' again after a long trip home.

Er, which is to say, the book is strong and Tran's impressed. Confused, too, although he's rolling with it. "Honalulu? I think I might've been there once, when I had to solve the mystery of the beautiful and deadly voodoo volcano goddess, before tHURK" Effectively strangled, Tran tries to stand against Hime's bungee jumping antics, which really only makes it worse on him. At least he gets sweet relief when her paper chain breaks.

Dr. Tran's voice is a little raspy when he exclaims, "A clever trick! But take this, then!" Dashing a step forward, Tran moves to put Hime in a headlock...and apply medical noogies, the worst kind of noogies there are.

COMBATSYS: Himeko interrupts Quick Throw from Tran with Medium Throw.

Himeko actually was paying attention to the story, if she knew he was actually going to be telling a campfire tale, she probably wouldn't have made an effort to choke him senseless. On the other hand, she probably wasn't expecting a response in the first place, so for a moment she feels kind of bad.

But only for a moment. Because if there's one thing she doesn't like, and that's noogies. Now, it's all in good fun, but it truely is the worst. For a moment, she's stuck in that noogie, though her arms are perfectly free, taking a small page from Himeko's book she cups the back of his neck and with a sharp twist, snaps him right over her shoulder and onto his butt. But that isn't all, of course, what is to follow is anything nearly as plesent; there's another ribbon of paper within her hands that she holds with both hands, snaps it around the front of his throat, and with both feet pressed against his back, pulls and pulls a little more, "Hrrrgh!"

*snap* goes the links again, sending her tumbling back, but on her feet once more, "No more noogies! You just don't touch a girls hair!"

Whoops! It seems a lesson is learned, but the damage is irreversible. Dr. Tran gets flipped like a flapjack, ending up flat on his back with a loud 'whooof' sort of noise. That's the worst part, but Hime's paper-thin follow-up doesn't help at all.

Still, it doesn't last long, and that gives Tran a fine opportunity to recover himself, rolling forward up onto his feet! He's already forgotten about story time - all he knows now is that it's time...to Get Serious. "Alright, no noogies, but remember! You asked for it!" His sunglasses shimmer in the light glow of the aquarium, and then he charges at a diagonal to Hime. He leaps up, feet planting on the glass pane for a moment, freaking out the fish inside, and then leaps off, on a direct collision course for Hime! And, rest assured, if he manages to tackle her to the ground, he's going to punch and punch and punch with steamy force! "Hyaaaaaaah!"

There is always time for stories another day, yes.. Because Hurricane has plenty of her own to tell; well actually maybe only two or three. But she doesn't shy away at all when Tran switches gears, the pink-clad heroine brimming with confidence.

"I hope I don't regret it, let's do it!" Hime replies, reaching into her scarf to redraw her paperback and is apparently ready to take on her opponent! it's half-true, it's going to take more than a book to really fend off Trans tackle that sends her smack on the ground, but the punches that follow are defended, his fists slamming into a brick wall, or rather her unusual little weapon over and over; it even seems to be absorbing his trademark steam on top of all that!

Clearly this is 100 percent recycled paper he's dealing with. She finally manages to shove him off after the fourth blow or so, so she can roll to her feet and lash back! "You're so mean!" she cries, tearing out three sheets of paper then from her book, "Making me wait all that time to see that steam! It looks way cooler then on television, but here's -my- trademark!" Within the hold of her knuckles, the papers straighten out, and then she whips them like frisbees toward Tran- High, Center, and Low. They fly toward Tran like darts, and if they hit him, he'll see he's not dealing with just any Premium Sign attack, their impact is as hard as a fist!

Ha ha! That's the ticket! Even though Himeko manages to squirm out of the way, and avoid the majority of Tran's STEAMY POWER, he's still grinning. "You should know, you can't just bring these things out at the start!" He comes to his feet, taking a prepared stance, watching her closely.

"You have to work up to it, until it turns into an all-out race to the finish! An explosive end for everybody watching!" As he's talking, Tran builds up chi in his right hand, forming it into a badical (bad + radical) disc, getting ready to interpose it. He thrusts it out when Hime flings her paper at him, except...well, to be honest, he wasn't expecting three of them.

It's enough to throw him off, so that when he goes for one, he ends up missing all three, which slam into chest with a thud. He staggers backward, releasing his chi, but is still grinning. "Ha! You'll have to do better than that, come on!"

Dr. Tran, a man with such charisma, ego, and toughness, Himeko isn't suprised in the least that Tran would brave her unusual projectile and brush it off as if it were nothing. It makes Hime's jaw drop, actually, seeming genuinely impressed, "A.. Ahh.. It wasn't good enough?" she cries, almost seeming dejected then.

But it's clear to her that she is going to have to earn it, EARN the climactic middle of the clash of the titan and mini-titan! But what if.. What if her technique ends up being a little /too/ good, what if it'll prove too much for Tran? The little Hurricane is indecisive at first, but then finally she decides to clap her book between her palms and drop to one knee, her thumbs crosses so it looks like she's holding out a giant gun, "Well.. When in doubt..."

Her shoulders jerk back and then her scarf goes whipping backward, a page from the book blasting outward, and then it's followed with a flurry of pages afterward, the book acting like it were a machinegun. In just seconds, Tran's going to be faced with a barrage of at least twenty pages of good reading into his chest again if he doesn't do something! "Just whip it out!!"

For a moment, Dr. Tran is afraid he's being too hard on little Hime. For a moment. Then she goes ahead and proves that his concern is completely misplaced. When she whips out the book, he knows something paper-related is going to come his way. It's not hard to figure out. As it turns out, stopping it is a considerably more difficult proposition.

Suddenly, it's papercuts everywhere. Tran raises his arms to try to defend against this hurricane of Hime's, but it's too much. There's too many, and they're all over the place. He gets pummeled all over, driven back bit by bit by the brutal barrage. When it ends, he's still standing, but breathing hard. Gathering himself, he whips a finger forward, pointing at Hime. "Well said!"

Exhaling hard, Tran reaches under his shirt, and starts to go over his various book-related injuries with his hot hands. "Really well said, hoo boy. This is gonna take a minute, damn...is this what being old feels like?"

Hurricane Hime can certainly be a terror when she wants to be, though it's more difficult for her to do so when she's not in a library.

Though it doesn't look like she's doing too badly right now, does it? But for the little Hurricane, she thinks she totally awesome not because she's rocking out, but because she knows that every moment thus far she has been looking tremendously cool, just as Dan had taught her! Though she still has to cringe a bit after that assault. Now then, what's this?

What Tran's up to can't escape the little fangirls eyes or knowledge, and while it may be a bit exciting to see the results, she may have no choice but to close in and wail on the Doctor anyway. Though maybe in mid-strike she can try to see how he does it so she can mimic it one day. All she has to do is learn how to make steam chi, right? Easy peasy! Now if Tran doens't look out, he's going to find himself dealing with a very unusual attack, the girl gaining speed in her steps and then with a leap and a tuck in of her knees, performs a rather clumsy immitation of a certain 'lectric beasts Rolling attack! Though she's steadilly faling downward, so if she manages to strike, it may be the equivilent of a bowling ball hitting a pin. But who knows! "Aroooo!!!"

Hm. These are strange results, indeed. Hime seemed a little weird at first, to be honest, but was comparatively normal. Now that she's been exposed to Tran for even longer, she's acting a bit strange...and now, after Tran completes his sexiest 'attack', she's gone completely nuts, tumbling into him and shouting like an animal. Could it be...something about him? Some strange pheremone that drives underage ladies completely insane? It's a sobering thought, even as Tran raises his arms to form a makeshift shield, with which to bounce Hime away.

"Alright!" Tran pumps a fist, and then points at Hime. "Here we go! I'll finish this now!" Rushing in, Tran drops to his knees and slides forward, planting his hands and stopping his forward momentum only when he's under, or really even somewhere near, Hime. And then...

"Doctor Tranado!" Steam gushes up in pillars around him, corkscrewing around him in a circle, hopefully catching the young girl with explosive force!

Wait.. Finish it now? So soon? She wasn't even prepared to take Tran on a special journey! She practically bounces off of Tran after his well-timed block, and un-balls herself to crash onto her rear again, seeming mildly dizzy. She's going to have to work on that one, yep.

Hurricane Hime gets her act togeather soon enough though, pushing herself to her feet and raises her fists up like a boxer would, grinning like a maniac on top of it.

Which slips into starry eyes as she squeals in fangirlish glee, "Eeeeeeeeeeeee~!" Tranado! She sees what he did their, comic genius! But back to being finished, she wasn't ready to be done just yet. The pillars don't seem to give her any choice though, her book is thrust outward, but not quite the help she needed. Pulled into that corkscrew motion, and then spat right back out with a steamy explosion indeed! "Aurgh!!"

Another thump as she hits the floor and slides across it, but her gloved hands claw and the ground and she dashes forward one last time, moving completely on adrenaline now as she extends her fist, "Hold on! I'm Hurricane Hime!" she declares, her fist pulled back and suggests a punch; but instead she starts of her combination with a backflip kick, followed by a combination of high and low kicks at an incredibly fast pace! "OraoraoraORAORAORAORAA!!"
It's finalized with a crouch as she holds her book below her, now sporting a kite-like tail and she bursts straight upward in which could only be described as a 'book-ryu-ken' to the chin. And if the spine hits said chin, the tails snap up like a slinky back into the book, tagging in just a few more blows into the combo! But then after that, she is surely done, dropping into a very cool pose with her back to Tran and an intense wind whips her scarf to the side, "Oh yeaaaaaaaaaah!!"

Wobble. And she drops to her knee, ".. Oh no." and flop onto her belly.

Yes, the finish! The time is right, everything's ready for the big finale! And what a finale it is, with Tran's blast...well, blasting all over the place, catching Hime in its radius. When the steam dissipates, Tran is there, sort of soaked, but in what is definately a very cool pose. He holds it while Himeko gets ready for her FINAL ATTACK, as though he believes this battle...is already over.

And honestly, it's not far from the truth. When Himeko comes at him again, Tran's sunglasses glint mysteriously. It is as though he turns into a ninja. A ninja who is also a doctor, ducking, weaving, and generally being incredibly elusive through the storm of Hime's attacks. When her final Shobyooken comes rising up, Tran is ready to meet it with a disc of chi, smashing it downward against the book, holding it there for long moments through sheer force of will with a shout.

When it's over, he's unharmed, but breathing hard. He turns away, looking at Hime out of the corner of his eye, and then taps his temple with a finger, resuming his Cool Pose. "And I'm...Doctor Tran!" With a grin, he turns the rest of the way and starts to stride off. "Until next time, Hurricane Hime!"

COMBATSYS: Tran has ended the fight here.

Himeko isn't as worn down as she looks, but you know.. It just looks a lot more dramatic laying before one of her heroes of the fighting league. But she can't really think of any really good farewell speech, so she'll just do good raising her head, and then her hand toward the victorious Doctor, "T.. Tran.. You're so... Cool."

Is that a tear trickling down her cheek? It very well could be, but her face flops back down again, for dramatique purposes. Inside, she's perhaps the giddiest girl in the aquarium.
