Description: Fei Long, the legendary movie star. Fei Long, the action hero. And the guy who's doing a charity event in Chinatown, showing off his moves to an adoring public. Not that everyone in the crowd is adoring, though. Certainly not Remy, who seems to take this little display as a personal affront...
A small charity event has been scheduled today outside of a local herbal market. Feilong the Movie Star from Hong Kong has arranged for a Martial Arts event to be held right outside of this establishment. For what reason? Charity events tend to have a charity! This one just happens to be for relief for Thai refugees suffering from the war. What's the event? Feilong is showing off his fantastic moves to an adoring and donating audience!
An adoring audience.
Right.
Well, the description is true enough. For the most part. The people thronging the Chinatown street are certainly all abuzz at the big star's presence. There's shouts, cheers, enthusiastic waving, screams. The cascading flash of cameras going off. A sheer mass of humanity pressed into the street outside the market. The noise is like a living thing.
He's Feilong, after all.
But not everyone's impressed. Not everyone in that crowd is enamoured with the star. Not everyone.
Certainly not the tall figure now pushing his way to the front, shouldering people aside. A lean man, dressed in a leather jacket, red pants, and heavy brown boots. A distinctive individual, the man called Remy. A scowl on his face, tension in his movements. Remy shoves his way to the front of the little circle of humanity, to the edge of the crowd standing round Feilong as he launches into another acrobatic series of movements.
And Remy just stands there, his eyes boring into the star.
He hisses something, soft and low.
The visual boring that Remy offers Feilong goes unnoticed. The Chinese ActioN Star is performing for his fans and admirers. By the time Remy gets to the front of the throng, Feilong will be launching into a series of circular side-kicks. With each side-kick he hops slightly to the side and holds his leg out in the air for longer than one might suspect after such a strike. He does this until he goes a complete three hundred-sixty degrees. Feilong shouts, "WAAAIEEEEEE!" As he spins around and gets into a fighting stance. He then places a fist into an opened palm and bows to the crowd, "Thank you for coming today! Another demonstration will be in a few minutes..."
It's then that Remy speaks.
He raises his voice, equal to Feilong's volume. His tone a vague approximation of the star's own - or at least a cruel caricature of his voice and mannerisms.
"...wherein," Remy says, his lip twisted in a sneer, "I will once more debase myself like a performing animal.../for your pleasure/."
Feilong will turn around as he walks away from where he was performing. A few members of Feilong's entourage keep the fans from getting to close to the movie star. Feilong reaches for a bottle of water and turns his attention towards the source of the statement. Feilong uncaps the bottle and raises an eyebrow, "I enjoy performing for my fans." He comments to Remy, "There is nothing wrong with being a performer." Feilong raises the bottle of water and drains some of its contents into his mouth.
"Really," Remy replies. He draws out the syllable, his sarcasm clear. It drips from the word, a thick and living thing.
He stays where he is, standing at the edge of the crowd. Making no move to approach. A few members of the audience - and Feilong's security detail - give the Frenchman nasty looks. But he ignores them. His eyes remain on Feilong, staring across the space at the star.
"So you enjoy making a spectacle out of yourself...basking in the witless adoration of your public?"
The Movie Star furrows his brow as he raises the bottle bakc to his lips. He cuts his eyes to look at Remy as he takes a long swig from the bottle. When he lowers it he swallows. Upon swallowing he will comment, "My fans are far from witless. And again, there is nothing wrong with performing." He starts off slowly towards Remy, "Is there something wrong? If you don't like the show, you do not have to remain."
By now, there's a distinct undercurrent of unhappiness in the crowd. The folks around Remy are rather less than amused at the man's harrassment of their idol. Even the people who aren't actually Feilong fans... well, everyone knows there's certain polite standards of conduct that should be maintained in society. Unwritten rules. Which all clearly state that you're not supposed to start making a /scene/ like this.
But...
...apparently Remy didn't get the memo.
Or maybe he just doesn't care.
He smiles, lips curling back.
He stares directly at Feilong, eyes unwavering.
"Don't I?"
He raises a hand, gesturing at the mass of humanity filling the street, the space in front of the Chinatown market.
"You've filled this place, /movie star/. It's rather hard to /avoid/."
Feilong tosses the water bottle he was sipping from over his shoulder. It hits the ground and rolls back and away from the Movie Star. Feilong rests his hands on the draw-string belt of his workout pants. He rests on the heels of his feet as he looks at the lanky individual, "Eh, I'm a draw. What can I say?" An almost smug smirk appears on his face, "This is all for a good cause. You can't possibly have a problem with that." It's not a question, it's a statement.
"Can't I?"
Remy steps over the barrier.
There's an immediate surge of activity as the young Frenchman quite literally crosses the line. The crowd flowing behind him. Angry reactions from security personnel. But Remy seems rather oblivious to all that. He pays them little heed. No, far as he's concerned, the only person of note here is one Feilong. He continues moving forward. One step, two.
"A good deed...for selfish reasons...still isn't right. You think you're an -altruist-, movie star?"
Remy's face twists into a sneer.
The Action Star will keep that alreadya ngular eyebrow cocked upwards at the comments and the tone they are made in. Feilong doesn't move back as Remy 'crosses the line'. No, Feilong stands there with his hands on his draw-string belt. The short man looks up to Remy and states matter of factly, "Whatever money is donated to see me perform will be matched by me personally. It will all be donated to appropriate relief funds."
Remy cocks his head, hair swaying round the side of his face.
"Yes," he says, mockingly, "money."
He holds his hands up, palms turned outward, pointing towards the sky.
"I'm sure the depth of your wallet...speaks /volumes/ as to your moral character."
He snorts, disparagingly.
"You think that's what matters, /movie star/?"
Feilong's eyes narrow now at the continued tone and hostility from this individual. He bobs his head in a nod, "Helping those in need is what matters, yes. I can help others with my skills. Resources can be gathered by showing off my skills and those resources can be allocated to help the needy." The Action Star then grunts, "And I am not just a Movie Star."
"No," Remy chuckles, a dry and disparaging sound, "you're just someone who throws money at things...and hopes that makes it better."
Then he gives another derogatory laugh, shaking his head.
"Oh, no. Maybe that's unfair. Maybe it just makes /you/ feel better."
He smiles, a thin-lipped and narrow expression. Not a nice smile at all.
By now, he's standing close to Feilong, coming dangerously close to infringing on the other man's personal space. Much to the consternation of the crowd and his security staff.
Feilong is not shaken from his position. As Remy begins to encroach on his space, Feilong just stares up at him. The Movie Star seems to have an aura of confidence about him. Feilong states, "It makes me feel good, yes, that I am capable of helping those that need help. I join a wide variety of individuals who have donated to such funds. Do you hassle all of those individuals as well?"
"No," Remy replies, "just the selfish and self-righteous. Do you think your /donations/ make you a /better person/, movie star?"
While the actor's got his own unshakable air, Remy too has a sense of purpose about him. A sense of implacable calm. He isn't bothered by the hostility radiating from the crowd - for he is quite clearly the interloper here. No. His attention is entirely upon the other party in this little confrontation. His eyes are locked upon Feilong. Remy matches the other man's gaze.
"You think a few dollars make a /difference/?"
The stare continues and the unyielding posture of the Movie Star remains. Feilong is tempted to not reply... tempted to just turn around and leave to prepare for the next performance. But there's something about this guy that's hitting a nerve within the usually amiable fighter. Feilong raises a hand from his belt and points to Remy, "More of a differance than your obvious hostility towards me. Are you trying to prove something? If so, get to it."

Remy smirks.
Something flashes behind his eyes.
He says one word:
"Fine."
And then he moves, an explosive action with no further warning. Lunging forward, his leather-clad sleeve accelerating, arm lashing out. Reaching past Feilong's outstretched hand, on a straight-line path towards the other man's face.

Feilong is a speedy little fighter. If his movies are any indication, he can be quick as lightning and amazingly agile. When Remy suddenly lashes out at him, Feilong's well toned body reacts in a split second. He bends backwards at the waist and twists to the side to avoid being struck. As he twists to the side, he takes a step back and to the side to gain a few feet of distance between Remy and himself. The Movie Star gets into a fighting stance and shouts, "YAAAAIIIEEEEE!" as glares towards this individual... studying him. The roar of the crowd is almost deafening... as a street fight seems to unfold before them.
COMBATSYS: Feilong focuses on his next action.

"Hmph."
That's all the sound Remy makes. No battle cry, no shout of intimidation. Just a small hiss of breath, a faint growl of the throat, all but inaudible beneath the noise of the riled-up crowd. There were a good number of people packed onto the Chinatown street. Now, their combined voices form a solid wall of sound. But Remy pays that no heed. It doesn't bother him. He's been ignoring Feilong's fans for a good long while now. They don't matter.
He regards the movie star for a heartbeat.
And then...Remy moves. Again. Forward, twisting on the ball of one foot. The heel of the other pistoning towards the smaller man.
COMBATSYS: Feilong endures Remy's Light Kick.

The other person's heel slams into the Action Star's well muscled chest. The frabric of the outfit that Feilong is wearing absorbs the blow well enough, but the force concusses against Feilong's muscles. Surprisingly Feilong isn't shoved back! The Movie Star took the strike and seemed to almost roll to the side of Remy's foot after being struck... using the momentum of the strike against him to fuel his twisting. He twists right into a series of two kicks. One foot snaps upwards threatening to hit Remy in the head or upper torso when Feilong twists around. When the leg hasn't even touched back down against the ground, Feilong whips up his other leg to catch Remy towards the side or the midsection. It's a swift double-kick.

One hit.
Two.
An involuntary gasp escapes Remy's lungs. His chest and ribs groan in protest from the twin kicks, delivered in quick succession.
This Feilong...whatever else he might be, he's fast. That much can't be denied.
Gritting his teeth, the Frenchman forces the pain away, driving it to the back of his mind. His eyes remain clear, focused on Feilong.
"So," he says, "you're more than a poseur."
While he's injured, Remy doesn't fall. At least not completely. He's driven down, to his knees. But his legs are flexed in a controlled fashion, his boots digging into the earth. In an instant, he explodes from his crouch, a solid impact that kicks up a blast of dust round the street and cobblestones. His body flashes round, spinning into a flying kick of his own, foot thrust towards Feilong's torso.
"Good."

The Movie Star raises his arm up and as the foot comes down, he thrusts a forearm forward. As he thrusts forward, he shouts, "WAAAIIIIEEE!" The kick impacts against his arm, but not against anything else. Sure that'll sting and bruise later... but it's better than a strike to the chest or head. Feilong hops backwards after blocking the blow... letting the person get his footing before he rushes towards him. Why? Feilong wants to grasp him and not knock him off his feet prematurely. If he grabs a hold of Remy, he will push forward and attempt to slam his heel into the side of his knee to collapse him. It's kind of a painful shoving takedown.
COMBATSYS: Remy blocks Feilong's Quick Throw.

Painful, yes. Takedown, no. Because the Frenchman refuses to fall. The kick slams home. But as it does, Remy shifts his stance, changes his footing - the soles of his boots sliding over the paved surface of the Chinatown street. Not by much, but just enough. The blow glances off Remy's knee, stressing the joint. But it doesn't buckle, doesn't give way - not in the fashion Feilong intended.
Remy meets Feilong's eyes.
And then, before the other fighter can disengage, while they're both in close proximity...Remy whips an arm up, driving a sharp blow with his palm. Aimed at the other man's throat.

It is not the throat that Remy strikes. It is Feilong's chin and cheek that get struck by the palm strike. Feilong moves his head at the last moment and takes the blow there rather than in the softer region that was the intended target. Feilong ducks and steps backwards to avoid further follow ups. He raises his arms up in front of him... moving them at odd angles and finally shouting, "HAAAAAIEEEEEE" when he gets into his perfect stance. He leaps up into the air suddenly, his powerful legs sending him forward and skyward. He comes crashing down with an attempt at his own palm strike. He attempts to catch Remy as he comes down. When he lands, and all goes as plan, he will strike to follow that up by driving a forearm towards the other fighter's chest. Knock the wind out of him perhaps?

He's still standing.
Barely.
He's hunched over, driven back by that last attack. Head down. His ribcage aches, his chest abused by the massive blow delivered a moment earlier. Remy sways, eyes momentarily closed. He coughs, a violent motion, flecks of saliva and phlegm splattering against the street.
Then he straightens, locking eyes with Feilong.
"Not bad," he admits, in a quiet voice.
He flicks his head, briefly surveying the people standing around the street, watching the clash of fighters. His lip curls slightly, forming a humourless smile. "Better than Alma Towazu, at least."
A green-blue glow suffuses his right hand, hanging by his side. Then he whips it up and around, slashing his arm through the air. Parting space with a crescent flash of spirit-forged energies, lashing out at Feilong.

Those spirit-forged energies do a good lashing on Feilong. The crescent flash of energy collides with the Movie Star, who makes a valiant attempt to avoid the thrown energy. The spirit-forged barrage cascades against the movie star and batter him... forcing him to hit the ground and hit it hard. He rolls along the ground and is quick to hop back up to his feet. His current stance is a kneeling one several yards from the other fighter. The mention of Alma's name forces the slightest of eyebrow quirks to form on Feilong's brow. Suddenly Feilong is a blur of motion again! His legs allow him to spring up into the air. He covers the distance between he and Remy with this leap. When he comes crashing down, it will be while also performing a rather swift axe-kick. He intends for the heel of his shoe to slam hard into the head or shoulder of his opponent.

And there's the difference between Feilong and Remy. Because the Frenchman's response to the acrobatic assault... isn't flashy at all. He doesn't leap, he doesn't twist, he doesn't fly.
He just gets out of the way.
A small movement. A shifting of weight, a leather boot scraping across the cobblestones. A body angling aside, just enough, just -barely- enough. Feilong's heel flies past Remy. It comes close to hitting him - so close it brushes the leather of the Frenchman's jacket, stirs the hair on his head. But it doesn't touch him. Not fully. Not in any meaningful way.
It's not a elegant evasion. It's not even a dramatic one.
But it's enough.
"Yes," Remy says, calmly, "better."
He lifts his own leg. Launches his own kick.
"But still..."
If it can be called a kick. Because all Remy does is...drive his knee towards Feilong's side.
Hard. Brutal.
"...the same flashy moves."

Feilong shifts his weight to one side upon landing from the strike... hopefully choosing the same side Remy uses as his dominant side. He then moves an arm and raises it just in time to block and deflect the incoming knee from hitting the Movie Star's torso or face. The Action Star is quick to move following the block. He lifts a leg in front of him and at point blank range kicks upwards, trying to slam the heel of his foot against the other fighter's chin. He hopes to drive him up and backwards.

Or just up.
The kick hits with the sound of a gunshot, a bitter bone-jarring CRACK that echoes across the street. Remy's head snaps back, his spine arching beneath the strain. He's driven into the air... before gravity takes hold, sending him plummeting back earthward. He smashes down into the asphalt of the road, nearly crashing into a knot of onlookers. Would have, had they not leaped aside a second before impact.
That kind of landing would have killed an ordinary man. But then, so would that blow to the jaw - it'd have destroyed the face of any lesser individual, tore skull and vertabrae apart. Remy, it seems, is made of sterner stuff. Because he's, even now, getting to his feet. Rubbing the side of his head with one hand.
"So," he murmurs.
His eyes narrow.
He moves. Forward, rushing forward. Extending an arm, aiming to simply grab his opponent. Grab him and slam him earthward, digging his face into the ground.

The kick rang true for Feilong. It was text-book, but it was effective. However it was not effective enough. Remy is up on his feet once again and coming for Feilong. He shouts, "HAAAAIIIIEEEE!" As the other fighter rushes for him. His leg shifts at his side, slowly sliding further behind him. Feilong is waiting... waiting... biding his time. When Remy grasps him... it is a firm grasp. However as he's getting shoved backwards... it's a grasp that gets broken. Feilong shakes off Remy and raises the outstretched leg. He starts to perform a round-house kick. After the first kick the offending leg erupts into flames and Feilong shouts, "YAAAAIEEEEEE!" And continues to spin with that slaming leg. He catches Remy with the ascending and flaming 720 degree kick. Feilong lands in a crouch... breathing hard. The crowd watching? Oh they're freaking out about what they just saw.
As is Feilong's crew.
Not because they're stunned by the move. They work for Feilong, after all. They've seen their employer do that many times before.
No, they're more distraught about the flaming man that's currently lying in the side of their parked van. Until now, it was safely out of harm's way, sitting quietly on all four wheels in the Chinatown street. Now, it's wobbling dangerously, and there's a massive indentation in the vehicle - perhaps punching through the hull, at that. Residual chi-fire and wisps of smoke rising from the impact crater.
Presently, with a groan of metal and breaking glass, something moves from inside.
Smoking leather boots hit the street.
Remy stands.
He looks somewhat...worse for wear, rents and tears in his heavy pants, soot on his jacket. A thin line of blood running down the side of his face. One of his eyes is shut. The other remains open, narrowed into a baleful slit.
He stares at Feilong.
Behind him, the van's alarm starts to shriek - as do the alarms of every parked car on the block.
He flexes his fingers.
And then he thrusts both his arms forward.
A massive wave of energy blasts from his hands. Feilong's seen this before - when Remy sent a doubled crescent of blue-green power at him, a spinning disc of light. Now, Remy does it again. But it isn't one blast this time. Or two. Or three. Or four. Or even five.
No. More.
A torrent of projectiles that engulfs the street.

Feilong has had time to prepare himself upon landing from his ascending and flaming kick. The Movie Star shifts his feet beneath him... sliding one behind him as before. His hands move about in odd shapes in front of him as he slowly draws out a shout, "HAAAAAaaaaaaaAAAIIIEEEEEeee!" Before closing his hands into fists and just waiting for Remy to remove himself from his crew's now protesting van. Then come the blue-green crescents careening through the air towards him. Some how... some way... Feilong dodges every single one of them. He deftly ducks under, leaps over or ducks to one side or another to avoid getting struck by the powerful energy bursts. Feilong shifts his arms so that they are held at his sides, fists pointed forward and adjacent to his hips. He starts to shake, "WAAAHHAAAAAIII!" as he channels Chi energy and focuses on his opponent.

"I was," Remy says, in a deceptively calm voice, "going to say you were better than Towazu..."
The Frenchman takes a step forward, then another. If he's surprised at how the other man dodged his assault, he doesn't show it. He just regards Feilong coldly.
Another step.
"...but," he continues, "at least Alma didn't scream like a constipated monkey."
With that, he breaks into a run. Accelerating towards Feilong. The faces of the crowd blur around him as he lunges, leading with an outstretched arm. A rigid knife hand, jabbing at the actor's midsection.

The knife-hand jab slams into the midsection of the short Movie Star. Feilong doubles-over after the blow to his mid-section. He almost drops to one knee after the blow... but through force of will the Movie Star remains on his feet. Feilong grits his teeth and smiles at Remy, "Don't resort to verbal blows when you can barely land a physical one." After that is said, Feilong stands up strait and dashes for Remy, "WAI!" He says as he lashes out with a hooking punch towards Remy's midsection, "HAAI!" shouts the man as he quickly follows that up with an uppercut blow to the chin, "YAAAAIEEEE!" is shouted while he performs the third and final swift blow; A close fisted backhanded blow towards the other fighter's cheek. Each attack is done swiftly and with lightning reflexes.

Remy arches an eyebrow.
The other man's knuckles slam into his midsection. But the second blow, to the chin, is deflected - Remy's arm intercepts Feilong's in a crash of bone, knocking the upward punch out of line. That same arm is twisted, putting it in the way of the Hong Kong actor's backhand.
A tiny smile crosses Remy's face. There's not much humour in it, merely a simple acknowledgement of a point.
"Perhaps."
He retaliates, then. The Frenchman stands on one leg, a single foot pressed to the ground. The other blasts upwards, heel blurring towards Feilong's chin. Almost straight up, a vertical movement with almost no chambering, nearly zero pause.
"But you're still screaming."

The heel that blasts up to the Action Star's chin? Oh it hits it real good. Feilong gets cracked across the chin and the blow forces the short man around and backwards. The force of the blow makes Feilong stagger backwards after twisting his whole body around to compensate for the force of the kick. He drops to one knee... placing a palm on the ground to steady himself. He spits out some blood off to the side before turning around to look at Remy, "The shouts are part of my technique. It helps me to focus. Please refrain from insulting my technique." Feilong shifts his weight onto the palm on the ground. He kicks his feet up from underneath him and sends both his legs towards Remy. One leg is careening towards Remy's knee while the other leg comes in to sweep at Remy's heel... trying to trip him up after the initial blow to the knee.

"It's a showy technique," Remy observes, clinically.
He pronounces this from a few feet away. Having leapt, -twisted-, and landed in the wake of Feilong's assault. The Hong Kong star's kicks went wide. Remy touches down, legs flexing to absorb the shock. He gives Feilong a hard look.
"That's all I'm saying."
He doesn't elaborate, but the implication - at least to Remy - is clear. And the condemnation. Sure, the shouts help him to focus. That's not something Remy's going to dispute. But they /also/ draw the attention of the crowd. They /also/ impact soundly upon an opponent's awareness. They're distracting. And to Remy, quite excessive.
All that...doesn't need to be said, though.
The moment for words has past.
Now...
...action.
He swings a hand. Not one of his open-palm blows, or one of his rigid knife hands. This is a closed fist, fingers clenched, skin taught across the knuckles. Remy propels a punch at Feilong, rocketing it on a straight line towards the other man's head.

He utters before falling backwards and landing on his rear-end. He sits there... trying to recover. He continues after spitting some blood, "That is the theme of my personalized technique. For a moment, it looks like he's about to continue, about to press the attack. To quite literally kick the other man while he's down. But... only for a moment. Remy reins himself in, drawing a breath. A shudder runs through the Frenchman's lean frame as he pulls himself back from the abyss. He stands over the fallen actor, giving a small shake of his head.
"You actually -admit- it...no. You're /proud/ of it."
Remy makes a sound of disbelief.
"You believe that. You really do."
COMBATSYS: Remy has ended the fight here.
Feilong is slow to get up. He casts a glance towards Remy, "I am unsure as to what your problem is." He says as he starts limping towards the busted van of his entourage, "However I do not see the problem here. I have a technique that I use. You have your own. Get over your bias." Feilong waves to the fans, "Thank you for coming out." He calls out to them, "Your donations will help some needy people. You should be proud." He turns to look at Remy but speaks to the audience, "And thank you for my mystery opponent. He provided a wonderful fight to entertain these people with. Surely the fight brought in even more donations." He looks away from Remy and raises a hand to wave over his shoulder. Apparently the event has ended.
Remy shakes his head. He opens his mouth, about to protest...
...but for once, he thinks better of it. He shuts his jaw, grits his teeth. His fists clench, fingernails digging into his palm. But he remains silent. He eyes the crowd with one baleful eye... before turning, and shouldering his way down the street. Shoving aside anyone who tries to get in his way.
This isn't over.
