Aislinn - Sweet Potato Pie

Description: ... is not what this log is about. In fact, it's all about Kenji and Aislinn beating each other silly.

Like most days for teachers and students alike at Southtown's Gedo High, the day has been somewhat long. Students cutting class, students jumping out windows, teachers that could crush the weaker ones that step too far out of line-- and then, somehow, a student council exsists within the ranks of the gangs and teams that seem to rule the school, the grounds, and the few blocks around the campus.

And at day's end, one of the members of that student council is out walking alone, a backpack slung over one shoulder and walking along the occasionally twisty, quieter roads on the way back to his home.

Kenji Ashima, member of the Guardian Kings, student council secretary, and Saturday Night Fight Junior League Champion has a healthy, steady pace to his stride. The occasional public transit vehicle drives by and cars still pass up and down the streets at this evening hour, but it doesn't do much to draw his lacking attention. One of the few students that wears the uniform to the school, he unbuttons his jacket and allows it to flow free while untucking his t-shirt, making him look a little more unkempt than his usual daily appearance. And in one of those rare occasions, he seems to be ... completely unaccosted.

Aislinn Doyle, the Silent Assassin, sometime NESTS agent and Seijyun High School student... former Gedo High student. Her 'legend', such as it is, might even be known to Kenji; while no more violent than the rest of the Gedo students, and perhaps even more restrained than some, she earned instant notoriety for the crushing of a student's throat, on her first day at the school, and for her willingness to instantly turn to violence--a willingness and a suddenness that would match even one like Gedo's own Edge.

Truth be told, she almost misses the old school--it was, two on two bouts with Hotaru and Fio notwithstanding--more exciting, to be sure, and rather less on the soft subjects like etiquette and tea ceremony. Plus, Yurika wasn't always after her to try and get her wearing that damn EGL style...

She, like Kenji, is out walking. And while she -is- paying attention to where she's going... she isn't raelly trying to avoid people. So it is that random folks are run into--and even run down--by the slight figure of yon Assassin of Silence--in particular, an old man with a bag of sweet potatoes that gets shoulderbashed and sprawls--right at Kenji's feet.

Though his mind seems to be elsewhere, he isn't completely unawares-- for instance, looking up as the old man and his bag of delicious potatoes are collectively spilled all over the sidewalk. Stopping short and nearly pitching over the elderly, he looks back over his shoulder at the -- girl?! -- that just plowed the man over. "Hey! Watch where you're going!" he calls out, turning his attention back to the old man.

Dropping down to one knee, the student sets his backpack aside and holds out his hand. "Here, c'mon." And once he's back on his feet, the student will turn his attention to the 'taters on the sidewalk. Shaking his head and gathering a few up in hand, he speaks-- completely ignoring the fact that the person responsible for all this bumping and shoving may still be -right there-. "Man, I can't -believe- people sometimes..."

Yeah, a girl. Never seen one of THOSE before huh? Unless you look in the mirror! Yeah, that's right. Aislinn stops, still facing away from Kenji and his potato-lovin' face... then turns. Whether Kenji's looking at her or at the taters (mash 'em up, boil 'em, put 'em in a stew), -her- gaze is on Ashima. She recognizes him--of course she does. She keeps up with the news, and even if she personally thinks this 'Junior League Championship' thing is a farce... well, the guy who won it has to have somethin'.

"Why?" she asks, bluntly, as she watches Kenji scooping up the potatoes. "Perhaps he should have watched where he was going instead." If pressed, she'll openly admit into running into the guy, but she doesn't see that she's to blame for it at all. A faint almost-smirk crosses her lips.

"The Gedo uniform," she notes, clinically, "never looks good on anyone."

Goodness, he's seen plenty! All shapes and sizes, and most recently they've wanted to punch his face into a crater. That isn't to say his luck has been -entirely- horrible-- the mixed blessing of noterity from his televised adventures and apparently jumping headfirst into a Pacific-Gedo rivalry's put his name out there a little more than he'd like...

Once the potatoes are all gathered, returned to the bag, and the bag returned to the old man, Kenji turns himself around and picks up his backpack by the top-set handle, slinging it over his back with a steady *thwumph* that carries enough force to make his lean frame wobble a little. "Yeah, well, you should show the elderly a little more respect, huh?" As for his uniform, the young brawler lowers his head and sighs.

"I hear the same thing almost every single day. I think I'm one of the -four- people that wear it." Lifting his gaze to the mysterious girl's, he presents his hand and waves it to one side. "No more not paying attention where you're goin' though, alright?"

Be careful what you wish for. Aislinn might want the same thing. She rolls her head in a slow circle, eliciting some truly liberating popping sounds from her neck joints, then fixes her gaze on Kenji again. It is... well, not exactly a lively gaze. In fact it seems a bit too dead. She doesn't even blink.

"I show everyone as much respect as they show me," she replies, softly. And it's true. That old man wasn't looking where he was going and Aislinn didn't care enough to try and go around him. As for Kenji, well... that lavender gaze just bores in on his eyes, as if she were trying to read him. (She isn't, but eye contact makes people nervous sometimes).

"'Junior League Champion'," she murmurs, half to herself. "You don't look like a champion," she remarks, more directly.

And then she lets him in on a secret. "I saw him. I simply didn't care enough to go around him. He is of no consequence to myself."

For a moment, he's unnerved. It shows in his stance, his body tensing from top to bottom and his eyebrows furrowed up. His left hand remains occupied, though the right slides lightly into the pocket of his uniform pants, rustling fabric and his right leg shifting a little. The last time someone remarked on how his scrappy self looked and how it related to the championship belt, well...

Yeah.

"It doesn't matter. You went out of your way to hit him, and that's not right. Okay? So quit it. I don't wanna have to say it again, Creepy." His instincts tell him to walk away-- but if he does that, he'd be turning his back-- tantamount to suicide. Leaning forward a little, one eyebrow cocks up. "You hear?"

Aislinn -actually smiles-. It isn't a pleasant smile, though. It's more of a feral baring of teeth. The kind of thing a dog does to let you know it can still bite.

"... even if I were still a Gedo student... you know what you'd have to do to back that up..." The words are quiet, almost reflective. Taking her bookbag in her right hand, she suddenly twists towards her right, winding up, then snaps back to forward, whipping the bag unerringly at the old man, hitting him right in the tatersack. Needless to say, they spill again.

"Hold that," she says, past Kenji's face, knowing it's likely to anger him more. And then she returns her gaze to Kenji's, almost placidly. As she raises her arms, and slides her left foot back, she says to the Gedo student, "Respect must be earned."

"Wh--" Turning his head as the bag whips through the air and strikes the potato sack, Kenji's attitude takes a hard slant downward. How could she do that again? What was it that was so important that she had to act like this for? Was it his school? His title? Or was she just some sociopathic freak looking for more people to mess around with? No matter what the reasons, the result is the same. "That isn't respect, that's ..."

Dropping his backpack and pulling off his jacket, he casts it to the side in a bit more of an organized heap. And to complete the routine? Sliding off the ring on his thumb, he crams it into the pocket of his loose pants and raises his arm to point. "Kuh... I haven't felt this way in a long time..." the Osakan says as his expression becomes downright furious.

"... But you just pissed me off."

"Of course," remarks Aislinn, as she slides a half-step back. Getting some breathing room, really--one might think she looked a little scared by the way she slid back, but nothing could be further from the truth. She worries that she's going soft, living and schooling at Seijyun... this is a welcome opportunity.

"Did I not say that I don't respect him?" Offhandedly, she murmurs, "Clearly, I don't respect you either." Again, that almost-smirk settles on her lips, as she studies that angry Osakan face--well, furious, really. It's quite a sight.

"If you are 'pissed off'," she says, "then perhaps you should try and force me to apologize."

He might regret this later-- he might regret blowing his top. But the excellent student Kenji Ashima has gone to the wayside, his mood more shifted back to the days of when the moniker 'Missile Fist Ashima' came to be. The right arm lingering at his side wavers and quakes as his expression becomes more angered, furious-- and then--!!

The girl-stranger gets to the point of saying 'try and force me' when he charges-- his voice releasing a gutteral, "HYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-!!" and his fist low to the ground, a burst of light blue energy appearing at the back of his hand and across his knuckles, wisping wildly in the wind. His arm arcs upward to grab the girl by the throat and -- if he can get a grip-- transmit that force into her. It will launcher up into the air, higher and higher... and, well, the landing is all up to her. "SHUT UP!!"

He might. But he might not. A fight doesn't have to be won to be educational, and... despite her provoking (and she -was- provoking), Aislinn is quite interested, in a clinical and personal manner, in Kenji's fighting style. Her expression doesn't change, as she sees Kenji start the fight off with a blaze of energy and a low-starting lunge, but she instinctively feels that, were Kenji to connect with that, it would not go well for her.

But he's moving a little slow, perhaps, or Aislinn senses--calculates--the path of the energy and the hand. Stepping to her left, she plants her left foot and spins towards her left--just barely passing Kenji by, as he lunges. And, as she finishes out the spin, it's only naturaly that the back of her right hand find itself lashing out at the back of Kenji's head. Indeed, it should almost be -expected-...

Naerose heads south to Chinatown.

Aranha heads south to Chinatown.

In a moment's notice, the mysterious student has stepped clear of his punch-- and spun about in order to counter. Still, Kenji isn't completely without his own defenses, twisting hard to his own left and slinging up his own forearm to stop the motion in it's tracks-- though his arm jerks a little in the process.

Reaching out wildly, Kenji's fingers go to spool around Aislinn's collar in whichever way he can find-- clothes, a grip on the shoulders, whatever-- and issue a swift kick at her ankles, trying to get the potato-disrespecting girl knocked right off her feet!

COMBATSYS: Aislinn fails to counter Quick Throw from Kenji with Brutal Hammer.

Aislinn reaches out at almost the same time-- but Kenji's foot is just faster. She finds herself abruptly falling, and only barely manages to pull her arms in and protect her face from damage, at the sacrifice of her body. Landing hard, she rolls away, quickly, assessing the damage--bad, but not too bad, just yet. But the technique shows her some of Kenji's strengths... she shall have to adjust accordingly.

She rises to her feet, once more, and makes a point of dusting herself off, before raising her arms once more. First points to Kenji... but the game is far from over yet.

Some-- but not all. The expression on the young man's face has hardly changed, though bared teeth show as his swift grasp and the toe-hooked kick proves to be the quicker of the two dangerous strikes. But the young man stands relentless by this point-- walking a slow, steady gait as the lavender-haired girl finds her footing and takes the time to dust herself off.

His right hand fans out wide, the bones from wrist to the tips of his fingers popping and snapping as they all crack in a symphonic manner, his hand closing once more into a fist. And with a firm forward-leading step, his right arm vaults forward for a very simple, very hard, very -fast- punch, one meant to slam right into Aislinn's face.

And find her face it does; she had her arms positioned, or so she thought, but the quick fist makes its way through and just pounds into her. Ungh. She stumbles backwards several steps, and now, she finds, her nose is bloody. Reaching up, she wipes the blood away, ignoring the continuing stream of it. Instead, she centers herself. Her stance shifts--from a generalized combat stance to a boxing stance.

And then she's lunging forward. Her attack isn't nearly as fast as the Missile Fist--not even hardly--but if it hits, it may be just as painful. For you see, despite the boxing stance, the attack is a punt kick, and it's aimed for right between Kenji's legs. Aislinn has no compunctions about striking an area like that.

A kick to the nads?! Why did it always come down to that, anyway? For the last few fights, people keep going for the nads, and it's so easy to block! It just requires a twist of the leg at the right--

*GONG*

Kenji's body shudders violently, pain raidating through his hips and into his spine. His lungs seize, his stomach tightens, his throat closes, and his eyes widen. His hands claw out and grab the ground to hold him steady on his hands and knees.

God. Damn. It.

With a little spit dripping from his slackened jaw, his hands curl into tight fists on the sidewalk. And... "URRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH-- HYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-!!"

That same intense blue energy explodes onto his right fist once again, burning and radiating upward-- from his fist to his forearm, up all the way to his shoulder. The light itself is disgustingly bright, comperable to trying to stare at an arc welder at work or burning magnesium. Reeling from all fours to his knees and back up to his feet, the young man's chest heaves over and over as he tries to suppress the urge to vomit, resist the urge to let his legs give way, and most of all, resist the urge to faint.

COMBATSYS: Kenji gathers his will.

A most amusing reaction. Really, Aislinn doesn't make attacks like that very often. Usually she tried to kick Sean in the nads. He always blocked. So it's somewhat satisfying to feel the steel toes of her boots contact soft, soft flesh... and then she's retracting her leg. Setting it down, she waits a moment, while Kenji's chi flares up, bright as the sun... she isn't sure whether he's fire-tuned, or what, but it seems reasonable to assume something of the sort.

However, she's not done yet. Shifting her feet, she takes up a stance very much like the famous Kusanagi-ryuu Kobujutsu stance, and as she clenches her fists together, her own chi flares into existence--a bright red, white-cored lightning that crackles up and down her arms briefly. Then she's skipping forward a long step, to close with Kenji--swinging her right arm alone through a power-punching combo, that electrical aura focused around her punching arm.

The first punch is a low uppercut, momentum transferred from planted feet, aimed for the Ashima boy's gut; the rebound from that is absorbed and redirected into another uppercut, this one slashing upwards for his chin. Throughout the attack she is silent--not even a centering kiai.

The blaze of bright light that burns up the length of his arm starts to die down just as quickly as it had formed, almost as if the act was like catching his second wind. And anyone can tell that he's ready to continue after that, though his shoulders heave and shift with each breath. Turning with a new spring in his step, the Gedo student stops Miss Doyle's attacks-- no blazing chi follows his strikes, only with firm, powerful fists. His left hand whips downward to connect heel of the hand-to-knuckles and neutralizes the force. His hand fans open before the second uppercut, catching the strike and completely stopping it dead in his grasp.

"You have to hit me harder than that."

And to punctuate this, his right arm swings up for a furious right-cross, one meant to stun Aislinn for what's only to come... should he be successful...

*WHAM*

And one forceful punch later, Kenji is suddenly stomping down on Aislinn's foot-- and that's when it happens. His arms become a blur of motion, almost as if he's throwing three punches at once... with one swing of one arm. Focused on her torso, his strikes continue at a brutal, rapid pace for what seems like a few seconds-- and then his arm windmills around to slug her once in the forehead. And-- then a stern forward lunge, his shoulder turned down to slam into the mysterious student with the intent to send her flying.

"GO TO HELL!!"

And it happens. It all happens, just as Aislinn meant for it to. The crunching, crushing step on her foot that holds her in place. The barrage of punches that batters her body left and right, so similar to one of her own techniques. It almost makes her smile. The impacts are painful, sure, each and everyone--the punch to the forehead makes her head ring. But when he expects the lunging shoulder to send her flying? That's where it things go differently.

Instead of flying back, Aislinn thrusts her right foot back and -absorbs- the impact. She bends backwards, slipping her center of gravity so that she is driven mostly downwards, at a pace she can control. And then she's pushing to her feet, using the stored kinetic energies to spring upright right in front of Kenji, where he may not expect it.

As she rises, her arms snap out to the sides, held stiffly... and then she's spinning forward, like a top, suddenly going into a blurring twist as she attempts to batter Kenji's head and chest with her outstretched arms. All in all, it looks like a miniature, high-speed version of Zangief's Spinning Lariat.

When things seem to slow down and come back to a normal pace, Kenji feels the pressure of a foot against his shoulder, directing his momentum and causing him to trip up over his own feet-- even as Aislinn spins hard and lifts up. His head jerks back with a swift snap to the left, staggering a few steps and back arched a bit before he straightens back up with a much calmer expression-- even with the trickle of blood at the corner of his mouth.

Dragging his t-shirt's sleeve across the smattering of red, the brawler steps back in and suddenly leans back a little bit-- "HYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-!!" and now his -foot- explodes into that glaringly bright light. Directing a powerful stomp, the student council secretary is poised to introduce Aislinn's solar plexus to a whole new world of pain-- one that also adds an explosive burst of energy on contact!

The glare of energy surrounding Kenji's leg is bright--arc-welder bright. Those lucky enough on the street to be watching this impromptu throwdown may have to turn their heads, to shield their eyes.

Aislinn does no such thing. She faces the glaring piston of energy and leg head on. She thinks. She prepares. And when the stomp comes in... she's -ready-. That powerful attack is caught between her hands--the energy explodes around her, but her cybernetics, working overtime, absorb the harmful energies, at least, the ones that would hurt her.

A viciously roiling cloud of dust is blown up from the ground... and when it clears, Aislinn is seen in the last stages of dropping Kenji's foot. Even as she's dropping it, though, she's looking to hammer an electrically-powered fist into Kenji's thigh--disabling him might be the best answer she has!

Shi-- H-How the hell did she manage that one?! In all honesty, the surprise nearly overwrites the chance he has to defend himself from the coming attack. But at the last moment, his leg lifts to take the strike across the knee rather than the thigh-- an awkward jumping motion and a means to halt the attack all in one.

And in turn, the punch is enough to drive his leg back down and send the Guardian King stumbling backwards in a series of awkward hops that puts a fair amount of distance between himself and his assailant. Kenji leans forward and pants hard, working his leg back and forth, folded and unfolded until his kneecap issues a solid *PAK* noise. He winces at first, but the relief is more apparent... "I still got a whole lot more to give, lady."

COMBATSYS: Kenji gains composure.

As does Aislinn; she presses her advantage forward, her style shifting yet -again-, to a kicking-based style, apparently. Her arms pull in tight to her body, apparently meant to be used for defense, and she takes two steps forward, pursuing Kenji even as he tries to pop his knee back into place. He has a lot left to give? Well, so does Aislinn. Giving is what she's all about.

She throws a couple of feinting attacks--half-followed through kicks, meant to distract--she even feints a high left jab--but then the real attack comes. A short hop brings Aislinn in and she thrusts her right knee up for Kenji's chest, fully intent on following through by extending her leg through the arc it will have to take to kick Kenji in the chin.

If giving is truly what she's all about, then why did she only give that old man a hassle and the Gedo student a -- ... oh. -That- kind of giving. But the Gedo brawler isn't about to let things play out her way. The teenage scrapper jerks back once, twice, ducks the jab-- and then stomps his foot down quickly and half-squats as though he were assuming a sumo's stance and swings his head down-- and headbutts Aislinn's knee.

And stops it cold.

"HAH!" he calls out-- though the cry is far from something like a taunt or laugh. No... in this instance, it punctuates the sudden shift in the lean teen's body, his hips rolling as his right leg suddenly whips around in a speedy, crushing kick meant to crack Aislinn across the left side of the face with the top of his foot-- one so swift that even with a complete miss, he'll resume facing her at the end of his harsh spin.

Kenji's kick hits true, sure; it's a swift kick and Aislinn doesn't really have the time to get out of the way. But... it may not have the desired effect, as instead of sending her flying, or sending her to the floor...

Her head just tilts a bit. Sure the impact hurt, but she is able to adjust her balance, to compensate for the impact, and then... well, then she's suddenly kicking off, while Kenji still has his back turned. Will she reach him before then? It's hard to say--there are too many variables. But she is certainly doing her damnedest to try...

... contact. Aislinn is right in Kenji's face just as he turns around and she's grabbing his shoulders. The momentum of her lunge is enough to carry him -and- her straight across until Kenji's back hits a retaining wall. And then? Then it's time for -payback-.

Aislinn bounces away about six inches after the impact, landing on her feet--and with Kenji's stomach wide open, she starts just--just pummeling his stomach and his chest with body blows. Her arms and fists are a blur of motion, with maybe 30 impacts in 3 seconds.

The last punch, from the left hand, Aislinn uses to push herself back about three yards... drifting back, almost lazily. But when she touches down she lunges forward again and delivers the final blow, her hands clasped together into a doubled-up fist, sent smashing into Kenji's sternum hard enough to bounce Aislinn back five yards after wards.

The Gedo student's eyes go wide as suddenly he's being driven back-- and slamming into a wall behind him. There isn't much to show or for him to say in the midsts of the attack, the muscles between the bottom of the chest and the top of his hips feeling so much like beaten paste. Starting to slump, his battered form recieves one last visit in the form of a rib-crunching slam-- one that sends Aislinn flying back and Kenji's body dropping to his knees and landing flat on his face.

The dust settles and chunks of the retaining wall fall down around his still form. And after a few moments, the Gedo student's body ... twitches. His arms push off and he shuffles to his feet much like a zombie-- and even coughs out a gout of blood for his efforts. Once his throat is clear and blood drips from his lip, the student council secretary ... screams. "HYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA--"

And lunging ahead in a manner that seems more like muscle memory than actual conscious action, the Junior League champion-- as beaten as he is, as wounded as he is-- reels back his arm and flings it forward as hard as he can possibly manage-- a single blow, a single punch... and aimed square to hit her in the face so -hard- it'll rattle her brain.

And then, more than likely, he can go back to being laid out.

Aislinn's body almost twitches; a half-formed impulse to duck out of the way of the flying punch. One that is aborted even before it can begin to execute. Instead, Aislinn, recognizing this as an evolution of the fist that struck Aislinn in the face and damn near broke her nose... decides to guard more carefully. Setting herself, she brings her hands up, catching Kenji's fist in her hands. The impact is incredible; her hands will sting for several hours at -least-. But she is able to foil Kenji and keep him from smashing her face in.

After all the momentum is spent, Aislinn drops the hand, and... damn. Didn't mean to knock him -all- the way out. Turning towards the old man, she gives him a Look(tm) and he freezes.. and she leaves him there while she picks up the sweet potatoes. Exchanging the potatoes for her bookbag, she pulls out a piece of paper, and writes a note on it.

"You need some work," is what it reads, and it's only signed "Former Gedo Student." A clue for the young Ashima to find, once he wakes.

COMBATSYS: Aislinn has ended the fight here.
