Description: Kensou and Kyosuke do mighty battle under the Metro Bridge! It's kind of like a bumfight, but with officials, less shivs and more psychic deathblasts. Also no Terry. (Winner: Kensou)
It wasn't exactly one of the places an upstanding member of the Morals Committee should be found. The atmosphere carried a dank forboding air and the aroma of the river polluted with the refuse from the many industries pleasantly lingered with each breath. The trash from what could have been landfill rejects certainly was an added touch, positioned almost at random across the dirty ground. What his ivory clothing would have scorned to be seated upon, characters of a decidedly sketchy nature had positioned themselves to watch the focus of the cameras...Not everyday an official League fight was scheduled in these parts, and whilst fights weren't exactly unorthadox here-- it was a treat to heckle and harass.
Kyosuke's expression wasn't the most cheerful of things, infact, he looked downright stern. It wasn't once or twice that his gaze settled darkly on some in the trickling audiance as if he may have picked up on something that unsettled his private perceptions. Still, they were only there as spectators, his opponent had his own reputation and one that was respectable in its own right.
Still, it's a Neo League match, and that provides a certain veneer of respectability, right? With the cameras and officials and stuff like that. So it can't be all bad, no matter how dingy and grody the seedy underbelly of Metro City might be. But of course, Kyosuke isn't the only fighter here! He's not scheduled to punch /himself/, after all. Instead, he's scheduled to punch... Some other dude.
The 'other dude' in question would be one Sie Kensou, onetime King of Fighters tournament participant and (moderately) famed figure on the fighting circuit. The Chinese teenager, feeling the need to ensure his skills are properly honed, has gone out of his way to make for a full weekend of violence upon other people; today, a League match with some giy he's never met before. Tomorrow, Saturday Night Fight! But his mind is focused somewhere else as he makes his way under the bridge to the scheduled fighting area... He's worried about Thailand. Still, if he just runs off there as he is now...
"All right," Kensou says, cracking his knuckles as he walks closer to the stern-faced Kyosuke. "I'm gonna come at ya seriously," the Psycho Soldier adds, slipping into a stance with his feet spaced shoulder-width apart, his left arm held loosely in front of him and his right at his hip, both hands in loose 'grasping' positions. It doesn't seem like he's intending on any pre-fight pleasantries, as he tenses lightly and motes of blue light appear around him, circling about in a whirlwind of light and energy about the young psychic, as he draws on his reserves of Psycho Power...

Kensou may be more at a disadvantage when it came to having an easy history on his opponent...Kyosuke wasn't exactly an individual who outside of his own town, had that much of a fan following or well, reputation the likes of Athena. It may work to his favour sometimes, but it's not something he banked on truely. If his foe was skilled, whether he had knowledge or not about his Imawano style would not matter. The two teenagers however were in this Neo League fight for the same reasons, honing their skills and garnering experience.
From the moment Sie had stepped into the area, seen or unseen the younger Imawano twin had been studying him. Nuances, attitude, holding them up to the television screen. There was a subtle difference to some of those fights he'd witnessed, perhaps it was a hint of distraction, or maybe...It was the added tension that immeadiately siphoned itself into the atmosphere with his first uttered words. Kyosuke arched his brows in silently voiced suprise, and then his mouth offered up a faint smile. If that was how it suited him, he had no complaints.
"As you wish, I'll be sure to do the same." Slowly, his fingers made its way to the frame of his glasses, and he lightly adjusted them once the other's aura coalesced to the cheers of the onlookers. He hadn't personally had much experience with those who used such a power...but his brother had recently become very intimate with it. Intentions however were declared, so Kyosuke would followsuit.
He stepped foward once, then another, bolting foward towards the centered Kensou, channelling his own version of crackling blue-white energy. This one a peeling torrent that mimed the motion of his sweeping left hand, his voice echoing its charge through the suddenly heated air.

Kyosuke 0/-------/------=|======-\-------\0 Kensou
Normally, Kensou would probably be clowning around more; but not today. There's a war on, you know! But you know, Kyosuke doesn't seem to be the type to be anything BUT serious, were one to ask the rather less dour teenager. At the moment, though, he's got more important things to think about than the relative personality of people he's fighting; for once, he's concentrating on gathering power. For another, Kyosuke is trying to hit him WITH LIGHTNING?! But Kensou is unbowed by the attack, swinging his arms up in the way of the crackling energy. His own power focuses at that point, deflecting the lightning, absorbing the brunt of the damage... And leaving Kensou open to strike back.
The Psycho Soldier's hands thrust forward suddenly, as he reaches to try and grab Kyosuke and pull him forward, yanking him off balance; if he can manage that, Kensou launches into a brief flurry of attacks, spinning on his heel to deliver first one swinging backhand and then a similar overhand punch with his free hand, before thrusting his palms out at the Taiyo High student's sternum to throw him away. "Yaa-!!"
COMBATSYS: Kyosuke fails to interrupt Ryuu Renda from Kensou with Shadow Breaker.

Kyosuke 0/-------/-----==|=======\-------\0 Kensou
It's true, Kyosuke didn't necessarily give the first impression that he was the swinging person of the party...when it came to serious matters, the young Imawano was precisely that. He had come to learn that it was possible to mix matters, but even then some old habits were difficult to break, and he had an image to uphold as the chairman of the committee. Slacking off from class without valid reasons and acting insolently or foolishly just for the hell of it just wasn't part of his personality. Batsu and Hinata could more than make up for any of his stricter tendancies which is why they were naturally such good friends.
Any disappointment is swiftly cast aside once his attack didn't land as intended, it merely meant that his opponent would be worth his time. And as he'd learn less than a couple seconds later as he barreled on in to follow through with another charged assault, he may have to reconsider his brasher tactics when it came to the nimble-fingered Kensou. "Huuah--" The hiss of energy fluttered away as he lost his balance, yanked foward his concentration was abolished by, well. Heel...then fist...and, you get the picture.
A discarded piece of wooden furniture shattered on impact where Kyosuke fell and rolled, his clothing irrevocably soiled by the oil-stained dirt. Some joked that he must have an entire closetful of them, truth was. At the rate his fights went? He sure did.
Whew! Looks like Kensou dodged a potentially big bullet on that one, doesn't it? The Chinese psion feels the satisfying impact of his hands hitting the Japanese student, before knocking Kyosuke away... And it seems like something in there was going to pretty badly for Kensou if the other fighter had his way. As Kyosuke crashes into the junk and dirt, Kensou slips back into his fighting stance, showing at least enough of a sense of fair play to let the other young man get back up before doing anything else.
And once it looks like ol' Kyosuke is ready? Then Kensou rushes forward at him, crossing the distance he put between the two of them in order to put some pressure back on the Taiyo student again, leaping off the ground and twisting to thrust his right heel out in a pretty straightforward jumpkick. Nothing fancy... THIS TIME. "Hyaaa-!!"

Maybe Kyosuke would have the oppourtunity later in the night to successfully illustrate the kind of hurt he may have been in for if his advantageous throw hadn't ruined his flow! The bespectacled young man didn't remain long wallowing in the splintered chair, he'd rolled right back onto his feet...and once given the remotest change for recovery, dusted off some sizable chunks of debris. And the chewing gum wrapper that was more irksome that the rest since it still...had the bubblegum /in/ it.
Instead of immeadiately burying himself into a strong defensive mindset, he still played it safe, guaging the other's speed sure enough to side-step the flying kick. Except it wasn't really a sidestep, but a foward motion that enabled the other's foot to streak on by his head. As for the rest of the body, Kyosuke leapt, snapping his hands out from infront of him sending a glowing crescent right smack for the other's chest.

Advantageous? No way, that was pure unmitigated AWESOME is what that was. Kensou totally had Kyosuke's number on that one... But apparently not this time, as he sails through the air with the greatest of ease, right past the Taiyo High student. Landing in a skid, the Psycho Soldier turns to see that wave of energy headed his way, and he does what any sensible person would, and tries to avoid it, but he's not fast enough; he dodges to one side, but the blast hits him in the lower torso instead of the chest, knocking him off of his footing...
"Not good enough yet!" Kensou grits out, steadying himself as best he can as he throws himself towards Kyosuke. He pulls his right fist back for what is sure to be the punch to end all punches, some kind of titanic strike fit to split mountains in half and ruin cities, shouting as he runs. "Rraaaaaaaaah--!!" But when he gets close enough he suddenly changes up, his weight shifting subtly as he thrusts out his left hand, palm out, aiming the heel of his palm at Kyosuke's chin. "Psyche!!"

Kyosuke 0/-------/----===|=======\=------\1 Kensou
There leaves something to be said about over exagerration being an artform. Kensou really had the act down pat, such that Kyosuke truely did believe that he was going for a brutal punch-- not metropolis reaming, Kyosuke was if anything, realistic at times. And so he'd set himself up to take advantage of what would have been a harsh blow-- and instead got literally smacked upside the chin for it. Kyosuke staggered back a step with the hit, his glasses teetering on the bridge of his nose with the force-- stinging more than truely debilitating.
"Quite suprising," he uttered lowly, snapping his hands foward as if to grab onto that arm of Kensou's before it was retracted fully, "you're making this interesting." A quirk of his mouth, his last hadn't been precisely that. He was pleased, he could get his face kicked in, but so long as it taught him new things...Kyosuke was okay with that. Okay enough, there would come a time when he put everything he learnt to use, and he would want to win. And win.
If successful, Kyosuke would attempt to pull the other in towards him, then literally hook an arm about his chest like some parody of a dance-- before literally flinging him towards the floor.
COMBATSYS: Kensou interrupts Quick Throw from Kyosuke with Sunda.

Kyosuke 0/-------/-======|=======\===----\1 Kensou
Of course, it wasn't intended to be some brutal, devastating hit; it was mostly just meant to be annoying. To screw up Kyosuke's game! But Kensou seems to have underestimated the taller teenager's ability to remain cool and composed under such circumstances, which could prove to be to his long-term detriment... Especially as his arm gets grabbed. "Well, if it ain't interestin', what's the point, right?" Kensou wonders, clearly a bit more amused by his response than he ought to be; then he gets yanked into a weird circle by the other fighter...
But rather than just let things go the way Kyosuke wanted them to, Kensou's other hand thrusts out between them, tapping ever so lightly against the taller youth's sternum, before a blast of blue-tinged white Psycho Power is fired off, unleashing a tremendous amount of force and imparting plenty of momentum onto Kyosuke, blasting the two apart somewhat painfully for Kensou... Who staggers back a few steps, before rubbing his previously-grabbed wrist. Owww. "Too slow there!"
At the rate this was going, Kyosuke should reconsider ever getting in close quarters with Kensou. The Psycho Soldier was able to twist such encounters more to his own benefit than he had his own, as most recently illustrated with the unexpected blast of not chi, but a power that Kyosuke truely had very little experience with. It was different in more ways than one, and it hurt...hurt a lot. The Imawano had curled about his chest where the psi energy had impacted, its lingering burn causing his lungs to protest every breath he took as the injury ebbed far too slowly for his tastes. Perhaps in a very outward display of emotions, Kyosuke grimaced.
"Too slow? You'll have to excuse me for not laughing." Lightly tapping his fingers on the dark shirt he wore, he allowed his hand to fall, "It'd be a little more uncomfortable than I'd like right now." Bitching? No, there was a hint of good humour to his tone, one that welcomed further forrays from Kensou like the one before. He wasn't shirking heavier attacks. The more he saw afterall...
A fair bit of distance now seperated them, the blast having knocked him skidding backwards a few yards. He'd refrain from moving closely too soon, he hadn't beeing lieing earlier. That last one hurt, a lot. Instead he set his foot foward as he exhaled, if Kensou were becoming familiar with the ebb and flow of chi, he'd realise that something else was headed his way.
Kyosuke virtually announced it-- his sissoring arms hurling foward paired arrowheads of the now familiar energy, slipping across the divide in their helical flight right for Kensou. Crosscutter. Hyo sliced through objects with a blade, his brother had a different method.
COMBATSYS: Kensou blocks Kyosuke's Cross Cutter.

Kyosuke 0/-------/=======|=======\====---\1 Kensou
Different is right; a lot of people get surprised by Psycho Power, it seems, and Kensou once had the reason explained to him by his sifu, Chin Gentsai... But he wasn't paying attention. The point is, though, that people don't like it, because it's awesome. And that's enough for Kensou to know. He recovers from blasting Kyosuke away in time to see the Cross Cutter headed his way, and it looks like a bad thing to get hit with, which would be why his arms come up to intercept the blasts of chi, deflecting the brunt of the damage away from his tender bodymeats... But it still stings something fierce.
"Fuuu..." Kensou exhales slowly, shaking his head. "Not bad, I guess," he taunts. But... If he just charged forward, he could be getting himself in over his head, into all sorts of trouble. Instead, the Chinese psion waits, settling back into his stance, and trying to cool his head. Think about what you're going to do next, Kensou. Don't just haul off at the guy! "What else ya got, huh?"
COMBATSYS: Kensou focuses on his next action.
[ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ < > ////////////////// ]
Kyosuke 0/-------/=======|=======\====---\1 Kensou
Taunts? Kensou should have realised by now that Kyosuke was nigh unflappable with what verbal jabs he was utilising. It wasn't that he was immune, by no means, simply that the other didn't know exactly what buttons to press. Indeed, there'd leave no doubt as to which they were aswell. Even then he'd never ever been a raging mass that failed to think through his actions to some degree-- the risks might be acknowledged and realised, but ignored. No, Kensou was far from that train of thought that would piss...Kyosuke off. Billy Kane had known on the other hand. Not difficult to guess however were his background understood. Atleast one strong reason.
Given the chance, Kyosuke takes this moment to press an index finger on the bridge of his glasses, securing them inplace where they'd earlier gotten unsettled. His gaze remained the cool assessing one, privately finding some kind of wry humour in the other's prodding. He supposed he could be accomodating and so as he 'asked', but then that played him exactly where he was wanted. And Kyosuke wasn't so sure he wanted to throw himself right on into what Kensou would offer up so soon.
The smirk was back on his face, and he secured a hand on the edge of his belt, canting his head as he continued to regard the 'Soldier. "Not bad? From the way it sounds...you have something better in mind that I should be demonstrating." Lowering his chin, he added, "Are you holding out on me?"
This standstill isn't what the crowd was necessarily pleased about, and some restless mutterings started up, some a hollared jeer to get things moving again. The cameramen dutifully continued filming, their lights casting shadows across the littered field.
COMBATSYS: Kyosuke focuses on his next action.

Kyosuke 0/-------/=======|=======\====---\1 Kensou
Oh man, Kyosuke was supposed to come charging in willy-nilly! That's how the plan went in Kensou's head! He's not supposed to hang back all calculatingly, like the psion himself did. That wasn't part of the deal! But with the taller boy smirking and watching him carefully, Kensou huffs out an irritated breath, tugging his fingerless gloves tighter. "I told ya, didn't I? I'm gonna come at ya seriously. So here I come." Waiting just a second longer, for just the right moment... Kensou suddenly dashes forward at Kyosuke, ignoring the jeers in the background.
As Kensou gets closer, some of the junk and debris underfoot in the area immediately around them rattles a bit...
...And when he gets right up close, Kensou braces himself slightly, thrusting both hands forward at Kyosuke, palms open, and if he gets close enough? A massive spherical explosion of Psycho Power fills the air in front of him, centered directly on where Kyosuke is SUPPOSED to be standing, a hellish blast of blue-tinged white energy... "EAT THIS!!"
COMBATSYS: Kensou successfully hits Kyosuke with Senki Hakkei.

Kyosuke 1/----===/=======|===----\-------\0 Kensou
It's true, Kyosuke delighted in behaving contrary to what another may have desired to anticipate...but in this fight tonight, he wasn't having the best of luck in making the most of it. Kensou was proving more than difficult to handle, a true challenge than merely being outnumbered. He supposed he really couldn't complain, the other'd made his intentions known from the start and he'd acknowledged as much. Still, it didn't make it any easier when he'd miscalculated his abillity to stem the amount of energy behind the explosive blast of Psycho Power. Which is to say...none at all.
Kyosuke was supposed to be standing infront of Kensou, instead he'd been thrown roughly onto the ground in what hadn't been his first unplanned arial flight for the night. The difference was this time, Kyosuke didn't immeadiately make to roll back onto his feet with all the enthusiasm of a newly begun fight. Instead the teenager literally had to drag himself onto his side, coughing harshly in what most certainly would have caused further pain, as his lips stained with red. The coppery tang on his tongue was all he needed to know that the internal injury had gone beyond his earlier injuries.
...His brother was going to scold him again for this. As if this wasn't lesson enough!
Kyosuke on the other hand, wasn't entirely out of the fight, though by the pleased reactions of the watching spectators, blood finally and all, he may have well been. He wiped the blood away with the back of his sleeve, carefully getting back up to his feet-- ensuring that the way he held himself served to lessen his chances of further injury. Atleast when he wasn't moving in to attack.
"I did ask for that, didn't I." A self-deprecating remark, seems Kyosuke wasn't about to get fired up all into a tizzy over literally being laid flat out. That didn't mean he was going to call it though, "I suppose I should follow through on my own claims." He continued conversationally, moving foward towards Kensou. He didn't have anything ominous like the earth trembling beneath his feet on his approach, but the air did take on that tell-tale static field, the kind that raised the hair on the arms and back of the neck as he closed in. A familiar stance, Kensou'd blocked it before, but this time the tide of chill-blue white chi was a rampaging pillar that erupted out of the ground with a vengence. A sinuous peal that almost mirrored that of the other's in appearances.
COMBATSYS: Kensou endures Kyosuke's Super Lightning Uppercut.

Kyosuke 0/-------/------=|=======\-------\1 Kensou
As the Senki Hakkei collapses, Kensou is pushed back a few steps by the residual force, catching himself as best he can... Before shaking out his hands, the palms of which appear to be smoking faintly. "Heh... Show me what'cha got, then," the Psycho Soldier says confidently in response to Kyosuke's declaration. And then Kyosuke does exactly that! The thundering, lightning chi strikes Kensou full on, but strangely he doesn't even seem to resist it at all... He doesn't even try to move out of the way, letting it hit him fully. And boy howdy, does it hurt!
Knocked back by the blast, Kensou flips over in the air, managing to land on his feet rather than somewhere worse, a bit of a confident smirk crossing his face. "You're wide open!" the Chinese martial artist announces, launching himself forward at Kyosuke, intending to hit before the other fighter can fully recover from that crazy lightning attack, thrusting his right hand forward in a grasping motion; energy crackles over his hand, and a point of bluish-white light is held in the midst of the cage made by his fingers, a streak of it following behind him as he thrusts it forward at Kyosuke, aiming to strike with his full weight and the brunt of his psionic ability. "Uryaa-!!"
COMBATSYS: Kensou successfully hits Kyosuke with Ryuu Sougeki.

Kyosuke 0/-------/---====|=======\===----\1 Kensou
It isn't exactly one of the responses Kyosuke expected from Kensou when it came to tackling one of his more...devestating of Imawano-ryu manifestations. He'd have liked to examine it closer, but as things stood, Kyosuke was pushing himself to his limits what with that last one. The source of the lightning uppercut still thrummed through his body, never having had a chance to fully soothe the impatient chi before Kensou'd sweep right on in again. Wide open? With uncanny accuracy Kensou struck the precise point where Kyosuke had been attempting to further shield from injury, and with his Psycho Power to boot.
Kyosuke faltered as the hail of cries surged, the end of the fight coming to the fore now. "How about, one last before we finish this?" He spoke lowly, his tone serving to steel away the clear discomfort be must be feeling. He looked up, and none of the fight had left his eyes. Infact, he even smiled, genuinely. Perhaps Kensou managed to come away from this with something that'd help him in his travels to Thailand. In a leap that was unexpectedly spry this late in and with his injury, Kyosuke closed his fingers into a fist, and drove it down towards Kensou with a focusing yell. Ghostly spheres trailed after his arm as he did so, and land, fail, or otherwise...Kyosuke had nothing left in him to continue.

Skidding to a stop after his attack, Kensou is left, well... Breathing quite heavily. Truth of the matter is, aside from looking like hell from the hits he's taken, the Psycho Soldier is clearly running out of steam. He's been burning the candle at both ends, to his potential detriment... But it might have paid off, given Kyosuke's condition. As the Taiyo High student rushes at him with punch and crazy spheres of energy, Kensou once more throws his arms up in an x-shape to block the hit, feeling the energy batter against him painfully... But not painfully enough.
"Wh... Whew," Kensou says, staggering back from the attack as Kyosuke presumably falls, or whatver he's going to do after his final attack is so sublimely deflected by the genius of Sie Kensou... At which point he realises that, holy crap, he just /won/. "Yeah!!" he exclaims, managing despite his tiredness and injuries to do a standing backflip. "I did it!" He sure did, as the League officials confirm him as the winner... And then he notices the hole that was ripped in the seat of his shorts when he did that flip.
"Aw, dammit."
