Aislinn - Youth Center Demonstration

Description: Aislinn, restless after her fight with Twelve, visits the YFCC and ends up in a sparring match with the ever-cheerful Momoko.

It's early afternoon in the Young Fighters' Community Center, and little Momoko is giving an impromptu lesson of sorts. With a dozen boys and girls huddled around her, the girl steps through a slowed-down sequence of capoeira moves, demonstrating the fluidity with which she can chain one move into another. Every so often, she'll pause, and explain.
Very few of the kids get what Momoko's saying, but the young capoeirista doesn't seem to mind: "It's something you just pick up by doing!" she chirps back to the boys and girls, flipping forward and then throwing her hands out. "Who wants to step up and try? Remember... there's no touching, so there's no getting hurt!"

Aislinn, feeling... restless. That never happens, at all. Except it has. Her loss to Twelve was disturbing--not so much the fight itself, although perhaps less the fight than the aftermath... she couldn't stay on Seijyun grounds. So she got out and wandered... and wandered... and found herself here, at the Young Fighters' Community Center.

It's her first time here--and so far she hasn't been too surprised... or impressed. Teaching little kids to fight? There are better ways of doing that. Still... Aislinn, who had been leaning against the wall, almost half-smirks and steps up. Yes, even though she isn't in the class. And then she goes through the same sequence--at full speed. It isn't perfect, but it's passable. Most wouldn't notice the differences... the imperfections.

Well... it probably =wouldn't= be perfect, no. It's taken Momoko quite a long time to get used to having her body move in those particular capoeira motions. And in all honesty, there are some things one can't slow down without changing on a fundamental level -- flips, most obviously.
But it is most decidedly a passable imitation of capoeira, just the same. Momoko's cheeks puff up a bit at Aislinn's performance: the girl is a gracious hostess, but still susceptible to acting her age every once in a while.
She does recover quickly though, setting her bruised pride aside as she clasps her hands together, bowing accordingly to Aislinn. "Well, maybe it's easier if we get a full demonstration! Then maybe I can show each of you one-on-one! Would you like that?"
Momoko smiles back to Aislinn. "Would you be okay with that?"

Aislinn comes up out of a handstand sweep kick, into a full handstand, then bends at the waist to put her feet down and rises to her feet. As she looks at the diminiuitive girl--not that Aislinn's Amazonian in size--then nods. Of course, usually its polite to speak, so, somehow, Aislinn finds her voice.

"Very well." It's the first time she's ever fought without some sort of purpose--usually she's out to beat someone for some reason, be it Neo League, SNF, or NESTS orders... or concerns. So, perhaps she can find some sort of joy in fighting 'just for the fight'...

Presuming the children clear the area, Aislinn takes a few steps back, finding her starting 'mark'--all the mats here are marked out as such, presumably.

The kids seem to =love= this. Momoko's wearing light-colored clothes, and Aislinn dark... Momoko small and cheerful, Aislinn a bit taller and... less so. It could make for an interesting show! "Go go go!" "Yaaay!"
Momoko herself seems to be enjoying herself, nodding in reply to Aislinn's maneuvers and her words. "Okay!" She backflips once, letting her upraised hands flutter to the ground like feathers. It's all a show, as far as she's concerned. And when those hands flutter down, Momoko's hips and feet start swaying into motion. It's time! "Okay, Miss Guest! You get to go first!" Stepping from one foot to the other, Momoko seems like she's ready for anything!

She's always the villain. Look, kids, black clothes don't mean evil! Just look at Return of the Jedi! Or Shaft! Or Men in Black! ... ah, whatever. Black just looks better, in Aislinn's opinion. Of course she is kind of evil, in a nebulous way, and her attitude isn't much good for heroic stuff either. So... whatever.

Some adultish person noticed the ongoing battle and made his way to the side of the mat--merely to start the fight off.

"Fighters ready? Then... FIGHT!" Yeah, it's unnecessary, but what're you gonna do? Aislinn bursts into action as the fight is called, testing Momoko's defenses--though she doesn't, for the moment, adopt the capoeira style. Rather, her stance is a more standard fighter's stance, leading left, trailing right. After her long, lunging step brings her close, she plants her left heel, pivoting around on it and snapping her right foot out for Momoko's shin, a simple, swift, defense-testing kick.

Momoko's defenses are proven adequate, as the girl's rapidly-moving feet are able to stop moving just a split-second before Aislinn's foot cracks into her ankle. Bracing herself with her other leg, she keeps the weight off the impacted shin, using it only as a buffer as she steps fluidly to the side. "See? You just react to your opponent, and..."
But while she speaks to the onlookers, Momoko's already falling over! ... Well, no, she's not buckling from the strike, she's sending herself hurtling into a twisting somersault, aiming to kick Aislinn one, two, three times in the upper torso before finally allowing herself to touch ground again. "... keep moving!~"

Aislinn nods; she expected the strike to be blocked, and she can get some measure of knowledge from even that sort of strike. But Momoko's no slouch; she's already moving even as Aislinn is retracting her right leg. She's momentarily off-balance...

But she's also able to return her balance in time to deal with the trio of kicks. Each one impacts her upraised left forearm--well, of course, she actually meets each kick with saidsame forearm, it isn't just some passive blocking stance. And then, perhaps, time for a change of pace.

Aislinn's form shifts--subtly--her arms both coming up, fists out, like a Muay Thai fighter, and she closes with Momoko as the girl drops, seeking to lock her up around the shoulders--the better to introduce a knee or two. Ais, were she so inclined, could potentially be quite the demonstrator of at least most modern martial arts, if not exactly an instructor...

COMBATSYS: Aislinn successfully hits Momoko with Medium Kick.

Muay Thai is a most powerful sport! But Momoko doesn't always like dealing with knee strikes -- so hard to tell when they're coming, after all! Momoko does try and step out of Aislinn's path, but the brutal blow comes a bit more quickly than she'd have liked, and cracks right into her sternum.
Momoko is small, so there's not much resistance to Aislinn's strike -- the girl, quite simply, goes flying! She lands on her hip, but actually backflips once, then twice before regaining control, landing on all fours like a surprised cat. Panting heavily, she flashes a winning smile at the children, some of which are quite horrified! "You have to be ready to take a hit!" she exclaims, her face red with the strain of that last strike. Oh, she's serious, alright!
Momoko doesn't wait long, though, before charging right back in at Aislinn. First a low, extended heel to crack against Aislinn's heels, then a flip into a handstand, aimed at cracking that same heel -- and her other -- against the NESTS agent's shoulderblades! "Haa-hyaaaaa!"

One failed dodge deserves another, I guess! Aislinn sets herself for just a moment, but she wasn't expecting the girl's leg to extend as far as it did; the heel sweeps her, keeping her off-balance for the other handstand kick that sends Aislinn staggering back. Nnf. It was a good hit, but not hard enough to make Aislinn see stars just yet...

Aislinn takes a moment to consider her retaliation, and then she has it. Once again she changes her stance... and now it looks a lot like Makoto's Rindoukan stance--she's even stalking forward with the same cross-leg movement, her right arm up, palm open.

But, just as she reaches Momoko, she drops low, cutting outward with a knifehand strike, aimed for Momoko's legs--disabling her main weapons would be the quickest way to win the fight.

The chopping strike is aided by a flare of red-white electrical chi that surrounds the chopping hand.

By this point, it seems Momoko's regained the momentum she lost earlier, at least! Still standing upon her hands, the young capoeirista scissors her feet to either side for balance, then snaps herself into a roll to the side.
It's just about then that Aislinn's closing in with a chop for her legs, to which Momoko responds with one more iteration of her cartwheeling maneuver, landing in what =seems= to be her derriere in a most ungraceful fall!
Only it's actually her hand, and the girl's snapping her heels at Aislinn in two whirling kicks, aimed at knocking those legs out from under her. First one heel, then a whirl about for the other, as she balances upon her palms. "Hii! Hiii-yaaaaah!"

Hm. Well, it was a slow attack; that it was adroitly dodged is of no surprise. It was seeking power, over speed, and often it's said that speed kills. Time for something flashy--time to excite the kids again. Aislinn remains low--sensing perhaps that Momoko is going for a series of low kicks... and she plants both hands on the mat.

Even as that first heel is contacting Aislinn's body, she's concentrating, and before Momoko can complete her attack, Aislinn counterattacks. The counterattack is a flashy one; a man-sized blade of that red-white electrical chi lancing up from the mat, right under Momoko, and right -through- her. Definitely flashy... and when it works, pretty damn effective.

Momoko has a lot of slow moves. That last pair of strikes was not one of them! But she's also not quite used to fighting people who can wield chi with equal or greater dexterity to her own kicks. She's not even fully used to her =own= energy-slinging abilities, in that regard. To say she didn't see the arc of chi lancing through her would be an understatement. Crying out with a sudden yelp of pain, Momoko flies backwards... though, still steadfast in her determination, she lands on her toes before collapsing to the mats, catching herself on her hand.
Gasping for breath, she nods back. "It's okay! This happens all the time! You've just got to bear with the pain for a little while longer!" Not much of a demonstration, perhaps, but Momoko tries her best just the same!
And that'd be why she cartwheels forward again, undeterred, aiming to kick Aislinn in the --- oh, no, wait, she aborts the flip, aiming now to ram her hip into Aislinn's torso. And if she manages to hit that time, she'd try, try again, making a total of three strikes. "Hup! Hup! HAAAAAA!"

Actually, Aislinn would consider the fight an -excellent- demonstration... and she doesn't even mean it sarcastically. Besides, the fight is still on and nothing is ever sure. Aislinn is sure her opponent will acquit herself well--there's more to fighting than just hitting and avoiding being hit, after all. Though Aislinn is not consciously aware of such things, she is somewhat aware of them subconsciously.

However, she now has a bouncing Momoko to deal with. She could just take the attack on her arms, but she decides, once again, to be a little flashy... so she watches her positioning and takes big steps back, timing them with each ramming lunge. And after the third, Aislinn reaches out to try and grab Momoko around the waist... and simply lift her up and over in a suplex or--whatever those wrestlers call it... she doesn't do much wrasslin'.

Aislinn          1/-------/=======|=======\===----\1           Momoko

Momoko has found that she's not a big fan of being grabbed, slung around, or tossed. Hinako showed her how that can really, =really= hurt. And besides, she's in a fairly compromising position, with her back to Aislinn. Who knows what could happen?!
But Aislinn also reminded the girl that she has abilities exceeding that of most capoeiristas: notably, Psycho Power! When Aislinn grabs onto the pink-clad girl, she might find that the girl's even more pink than usual -- indeed, she's =bathing= in the warm, pink light of positive emotions! Maybe that'll put a smile on Aislinn's face?
If not, well, Momoko's sudden lurch into a backflip might. She gets flung around by the elbows, sure, but the girl's much too slippery to hold onto for long -- especially when her Psycho Power is channeling her into a little ball, and indeed, with one single burst, =propelling= the capoeirista into Aislinn like a tightly-wound orb of kicking fury! "Phoenix-- ARROW!!" she shouts, the waves of psychic energy making a shimmering, water-like sound as they emanate from the tiny girl as she kicks away at Aislinn!
If the kids were quiet before, well, they're shouting and cheering now!

N--no, no Momoko, that won't put a smile on Aislinn's face. In fact it's actually a grimace of pain that crosses her face, as she's basically rolled into and kicked into the wall. Oh my god that hurt. Aislinn rises to her feet, looking unsteady for a moment... and then her expression settles. Getting more intense, it is... as if she's taking this more seriously now.

Aislinn cricks her neck, left, then right... and raises her hands again. This time she takes a complete boxer's stance, and uses a boxer's in-step to close the distance, almost looking like she's wave-dashing forward, a few long, loping steps making Aislinn's shoulders and body dip. As the last step--a right step--brings her into Momoko's personal space, suddenly she unleashes a furious boxing combination--right jab, right jab, both for Momoko's chin, then a half-step forward to lead left and a hammering left body blow. Hopefully some of the kids appreciate the demonstration she's giving of various fighting styles.

Capoeiristas don't use their arms for much, it's true, but certain attacks are defended much more easily with the arms than the legs. Momoko =could= raise her knee and block one of the strikes, but she'd be off-balance afterward, and she'd risk crippling her own offense.
Besides, her arms are closer anyway. The girl reflexively curls up at the attack, taking the strikes on her left arm. Only for the last does she raise her knee, absorbing the body blow with her bent leg. And, true to form, she's knocked back a good foot or so.
She's still glowing a bit pink, though, and she's still smiling as she backpedals, regaining what she can of her momentum. "Love and justice will pull through in the end, though!" she cries, her hands glowing a bright pink-white, accompanied by a pulsing, high-pitched sound. Smiling back at Aislinn, the cheerful girl extends her palms, that pink-white energy taking form in a gigantic lance of energy, which rockets out and threatens to run Aislinn through!
Luckily, Momoko's power won't do collateral damage, as it only targets the human psyche! "ES-PEEEEER!"

Esper? More like Lithium Lance. Aislinn's eyes widen briefly--even as a mostly-null, a 'flatscan' if you read old Marvel comics... she can't miss the glow or the buildup of power. It is met head-on, Aislinn's arms raised to absorb what energy they can. The impact still staggers her back against the wall again, and she... seems to be leaning against the wall, almost as if she were taking a breather.

Of course, she isn't really; her half-lidded eyes are trained fully on Momoko, wanting to see what the girl does... it's the first pause in this fight so far, the first time either has failed to come back with an attack...

COMBATSYS: Aislinn focuses on her next action.

Lithium Lance? What's that? Momoko only knows her own attacks, she doesn't bother studying potential opponents or anything like that. If it isn't learned through experience, it just isn't right!
But with Aislinn taking a moment to catch her breath, Momoko actually gives a bit of a sigh. It's normally her naptime, after all! But she's here to give a show for the kids, naptime can wait! "Okay, ready or not... here I come!" So polite of Momoko to announce her intentions here, as the girl tilts forward, planting her hands on the ground as she cartwheels. Capoeira instructors would call this the Au Cortado -- the girl twists as her feet fall, leading to three impacts: first an outboard kick with her right, then a heel kick with the left, then a heel kick with that right on the return trip! "Ya! Ya! Ya!"

The three swift kicks all land; apparently Aislinn -wasn't- ready... but that's alright. They didn't really impact all that hard, mostly due to Momoko being a small young thing. Aislinn staggers a little, but then lunges forward into a tumble--actually tumbling past Momoko, to get out of the corner. As she springs up she twists around and fires off her own sweeping kick, aiming to click Momoko's heels together.

Her flashy technique is somewhat dampened; she can feel the burn of fatigue setting in, and so that restricts her options, somewhat... she doesn't want to just run herself into the ground.

COMBATSYS: Momoko fails to interrupt Light Kick from Aislinn with Strong Kick.

Well... Momoko is pretty flush with the high from her last series of kicks, but a wee bit unsteady. Just a bit though -- it's rare that the tiny girl is ever =totally= off-balance, unless she's just been flung through the air.
But that moment of insecurity is enough for Aislinn to capitalize on, especially considering Momoko was just about to return Aislinn's kick with one of her own! In fact, if Aislinn hadn't dropped low, it might have landed -- but instead, Momoko's sole foot gets swept out from under her, and she collapses to the mats! Whump!
It's only a split-second before she springs back, and to a safe distance ,smiling brightly. "Which style are you using, actually? That's a bunch of different ones together, right? It is, right? Right?"

Style? Uh. Aislinn pauses a moment, considering, then shakes her head. "I employ all styles when I fight," she says, and that's about all she can say on the subject. Aislinn rises to her feet, and narrows her eyes a little as she considers; if she goes all-out on Momoko, she'll likely earn quite a bit of disfavor from the children... but... does she care? Not really.

Aislinn lunges forward again--as fast as she can--seeking to implant her left fist into Momoko's temple.

All styles? That's practically a style in itself. But Momoko seems confused by that, just the same. Stammering for a moment, she bobs to the side, weaving the evasion into her rhythmic stepping -- the same rhythm that she'd lost in the heat of battle. "I-Is it fun?" she finally asks with a smile, bobbing her head in agreement.
But that's when the girl decides to dash in again -- twisting to her side in a quick one-eighty, her back to Aislinn. But then her right hand drops as she launches into a backflip. Continuing her twisting in midair, she aims to bring both heels crashing down onto Aislinn's shoulders! "Macaco!"

Is it... 'fun'? Aislinn never really considered it before; she fights because it is what she knows how to do. "Is it 'fun'?" she echoes, sounding puzzled... and then she's backflip kicked. Except Momoko really needs to put on a few pounds; her impacts lack conviction. Aislinn is hardly rocked by the kick, and her reaction is instinctive.

She attempts to grab Momoko by the feet and use her feet as grips to swing her into the mat back-first. She isn't swinging hard--this isn't home-run, 'ding the bell' type stuff, but it might still hurt a little bit.

Well... gotta give Momoko credit for trying, really! She sees Aislinn reaching for her feet, and she really does =try= to whip her feet out of the way, leaning into a knee strike considering how well Aislinn had pulled that off earlier... but no, she gets caught in the snare, and slammed into the mats. Crying out for a moment, she nonetheless seems... pretty much alright, if a bit winded!

Yeah, Aislinn doesn't know much about throwing people around, and Momoko's light and flexible, which probably makes throwing her a dicey proposition to begin with. Ah well... this fight is nearing it's end, and Aislinn still hasn't run the gamut of fighting styles completely. Next up: Puroresu! Or, rather, more American Pro Wrestling, as she borrows a bit from that 'style' (if you can call it that). How?

Well, she crouches, then leaps up and forward... extending an elbow as she drops towards Momoko's midsection. It's not very wrestling-like, mainly due to the lack of yelling or oil-coated skin or bare chests but--well, you get the idea.

Elbows and knees! So brutal! So... difficult for Momoko to see coming! She's more focused on the fists and the feet to really pay attention to those dense joints in the center, after all, so while she =does= leap backward, arms and legs out to either side to keep from getting snagged by what =seems= to be a hook punch... well, Aislinn's a bit more direct than that, and nails her right in the torso. The young capoeirista jacknifes, skidding across the mat on the tips of her toes.
But she is pretty darn wobbly now! She thinks she'll fix this by hurling herself at the mat.
But she doesn't stop there -- with a sudden flare of Psycho Power, the girl tumbles forward into a series of kicks at Aislinn's feet! She probably won't land any... but she's got to put 110% into her fights! "Phoenix... ARROW!"

Akira leaves the community center.

Aislinn drops low, turning her right side towards Momoko, bracing with her left leg extended; the rolling series of kicks are thusly met by the young fighter, impacts thudding against her shoulder and side and thigh and forcing her back even braced. But then the storm is over and Aislinn rises to her feet. She doesn't really particularly look -satisfied- at her win... it was, after all, mostly a demonstration, and not anything serious, and she doesn't know Momoko--has seen her in SNF promos and such, but that's it--so she has no beef with her.

However, it was quite educational, an excellent display of capoeira prowess, not to mention Psycho Power. .... that said, she just did defeat the kiddies' mentor and so she looks around a bit uneasily, wondering how they'll react, while that adult from the beginning of the fight comes in to check Momoko for injury.

COMBATSYS: Aislinn has ended the fight here.

Momoko can't deal with direct impacts quite as well as most fighters, so... well, her head's still spinning a fair bit, even as she launches into her dizzying array of kicks! But once they're blocked, she pretty much loses her momentum, flopping her arms and legs out in exhaustion.
"Whee!" she sighs contentedly, closing her eyes and relaxing. "Winning or losing, it's all fine as long as you have fun, and keep facing challenging opponents!" She smiles, opening her eyes again as she looks up to Aislinn. "Thank you for the demonstration!" Did she ever give her name? N...no, not really...

"... you're welcome." Aislinn is kind of glad she didn't give her name--or go all out and just start smashing the poor girl. She might've felt bad, even if just for a second. And Aislinn? She didn't give her name either, but that's alright. Seeing that Momoko is alright, Aislinn simply turns and starts walking, unhurriedly, for the exit. Somehow... she feels better. Possibly, simply down to activity and exercise being good for one... even if she -does- ache from all the kicks and such.
