Description: Sada is inducted into the DSC more or less by Kurow in an official meeting held in.. A dorm room. Make good with what you have, right? Yurika is finding she doesn't like Sada, but what can you do?
It would appear that it is time again for a family get-togeather, plus one. It probably shouldn't be any suprise that Gabriel isn't anywhere to be seen, but she likely isn't completely essential to the meeting at hand, considering. It's ten at night at the Seijyun dormitory, the sun long since down and curfew having been extended to 11 tonight for some reason or another.
It's a very good time, then, to hold a meeting with people all over the place rather than storming around in just the dormitories! And for once, Yurika Kirishima isn't dreading said meetings, because it's likely something very interesting will come up now that the school year is coming to a finish.
Now, Sada has likely been contacted by Yurika, telling that she would be dropping in at this time, and whether Sada knows Kurow will be coming along is likely completely up to the younger Kirishima. In all honesty, Yurika doesn't like the idea of Kurow going into another girls room, but it couldn't be helped for some reason or another. Clad in her usual attire and likely Kurow by her side, the musician raps lightly on the door.
Kurow doesn't tend to drop in unannounced on someone unless he's going to do something like ambush them and cut them the hell up; with his subordinates, he's usually reasonably good about advance warning. He has no reason to sneak up on an /ally/, after all -- and besides, it's not good business.
Kurow does not seem, when he comes in, too disappointed at the lack of Gabriel at the appointed place at the appointed time, and may indeed have done so intentionally. This is more of an initiation, anyway -- it's really best just to have the core members and the entering party at one of those. Arriving at the same time as Yurika, he gives his sister a quick wave, and a relatively warm, "Hello, Yurika," before taking his position in front of the door to Sada's dorm.
There is a rattle as Sada undoes the traditional small chain lock - just to keep the freshmen out, of course - and opens the door.
She is wearing the dress and blouse but has taken the jacket off, since it's her ROOM and she can DO THAT KIND OF THING. The mandatory small desk is currently occupied by a few loose papers, while two of those familiar-looking instrument cases sit in a corner. The desk chair has been turned out, and she has also brought in one of the spares from the hallway. The walls have a reproduction scroll of a misty mountain, and a lacquered wooden square with the Asai mon on it.
"Oh," she says, before smiling and stepping in, gesturing inwards. "Please, come in. Sit wherever you like."
Yurika was a bit distracted, so she doesn't notice until she sees a shadow that her brother is here. She's in a mildly sour mood, as to be expected really, but when he greets her and even does so with a smile, her dark eyes seem to soften and she smiles back, with a small curtsey. "Good evening, br- Kurow." she replies, trying not to seem completely ecstatic. In just one move, Yurika may have very well been secured a much more peacful experience this evening!
Now that the door has opened however, Sada is greeted with a more mysterious little smile, "Good evening, Miss Asai. Thank you for having us." it'd probably be the first time she'd seen the two togeather, actually. She'll go right ahead and help herself to a chair, her eyes scoping about for the briefest of moments, "Did you have your Saturday Night match already?"
Indeed, it does probably help Yurika not to sound /enormously/ happy that her brother is here -- after all, the youth has always been a little frustrated with the babying Yurika tends to do in situations like these. It becomes /doubly/ frustrating, of course, now that there's the question of 'girls'.
Walking in a little ahead of Yurika, Kurow says, once Yurika's done speaking, "Hello, Sada. I'm sorry I couldn't be at your Saturday Night Fight personally -- I had something else to attend to... I did see it recorded, however. You did quite well." As Yurika takes a chair, Kurow looks around briefly and decides to sit on the bed (oh no, Yurika!!), evidently leaving something actually designed for sitting to Sada. "And, yes, thank you for having us."
"Oh! Yeah, I did," Sada says, waving a hand in front of her. "It was in Britain, anyway, so I understand if you couldn't make it." Southtown gets its share of SNFs, but less than might be thought.
She smiles again after the brother and sister team step inside and make themselves comfortable; she shuts the door, after that, and locks it with perhaps slightly more ceremony than is neccessary.
After that, she steps over and sits down. She thinks: I should offer them tea or crackers or something. Then she thinks: But I only have two protein bars and some dried squid in the back of that drawer. Augh! Prepare more, next time.
Yurika saw it. She didn't approve. But she would have to let it go. Her attention is then drawn toward Sada, and of course deducts points for her not having anything prepared.
"Oh, I'd love to go to Britain sometime, myself.. But I'm afraid Saturday Night Fights just do not.. Really tickle my fancy."
Yurika's smile is a little weaker at that point, she giving a small shrug, and then turns her attention to Kurow. He probably has a couple of things to bring up before she adds in her two cents on current matters.
Kurow, meanwhile, expects a little imperfection -- after all, nothing /starts/ perfect. You have to buff that out with tons and tons of horrible brainwashing! "I see it as an opportunity to study others' styles," Kurow says, on the topic of SNF not tickling Yurika's fancy. "In any event... Sada, I'd like -- do you remember what we talked about, before we went on the plane?" This seems like a good starting point.
He seems relatively cool and collected -- not too invested in the situation, but at the same time not completely disinterested. "My sister is... involved, as well. You two have met before, I understand."
Sada is also not used to hosting parties where the entertainment involves refreshments /in her dorm room/. She's a single child; lay off :(
"We have," Sada confirms to Kurow, having more or less tuned out Yurika's offhanded remark. She also nods, once, perhaps to answer the earlier question.
She looks over at Yurika, then, and blinks twice. Then her eyes widen, and she asks with honest surprise, "Is that why you joined the glee club?" She was being watched all this time! the 'inner schoolgirl' part of her mind practically squeals. It's like joining a conspiracy to replace the shogun!
Yurika sets her hands on her lap, and also nods in agreement. But when her and Sada's eyes meet to the second question, Yurika is actually slightly hesitant on how to answer that. So instead she unknowingly pulls a page out of her brothers book, and nods her head, "Not exactly, but close enough. You should know of all things that my love for music is genuine." And she'll go ahead and leave it at that. She's got her own worries, though, because she honestly has no idea what plans Kurow has for Sada. But whether she likes the girl or not, the fact of the matter is strength is in numbers, and even she can appreciate a larger group.
Smooth, Yurika. Too smooth. Even Kurow can appreciate a line like that -- he, of course, /does/ have the 'bird's-eye view' of the situation necessary to understand how that was handled. His sister is /learning/, if nothing else. "... excellent. In any event... I suppose our primary order of 'business' here is to give you a somewhat greater understanding of the situation."
The boy takes a deep breath; explaining this is always a little cumbersome, but he always manages. Somehow. "I suppose what would be best to start with is a more... formal introduction to our organization. For several generations, we have stood guard against the decadence of Japanese society. It has been a hard battle, and thanks to Geese Howard and the traitors Hyo and Raizo Imawano, our numbers are small -- waning." He looks to Yurika, then to Sada again, saying, "We are the Darkside Student Congress, the last remnants of the Darkside Society Organization -- the few who are capable of dealing with the 'dark side' of Japan." Pretty words -- and true... just not, necessarily, of Kurow's own leadership.
The youth nods, once, firmly. "If you'd like to ask any questions, either of myself or Yurika, you may ask. And Yurika, if you have anything to add..."
Sada gives Yurika a look but not a hostile one. She then leans forwards slightly as Kurow begins speaking. She doesn't get too mooney-eyed, or lean forwards, or sigh theatrically, but the widening of her eyes and that faint lack of tension in the lips might give Yurika reason to grump and gallumph in her black and lacy little heart.
"O-oh," she says after Kurow speaks. She leans back in her chair, shoulders sagging a little. When Kurow mentions Yurika, Sada glances at her, but then goes back to Kurow. "I'm." She mentally kicks herself to formulate a coherent statement. "Why did they betray...?"
Yurika can imagine that it's difficult for Kurow to word things without making people freak out. But hey, NESTS seems to be able to do that pretty well, right? Her expression doesn't shift at all during the speech, and for the time being, she doesn't have anything to add on his behalf, however, "Miss Asai, do not take things too harshly, as you can understand it's a very sensitive topic, things that I cannot share so readily. And now we're here, at this point."
Why they were betrayed? Yurika lightly nibbles her lower lip, and that's about it.
Yurika takes a very delicate approach to the topic; Kurow needs to have more answers, being the leader, and as such speaks up a little more forcefully. "Raizo Imawano became too soft -- he started to accept some of the evil that was being perpetrated, started to soften up on the darkness, and left us. Hyo... Hyo was different."
Kurow takes a breath. "Hyo Imawano, on the other hand, became too forceful. He stopped understanding the value of subtlety. He tried to take Japan by force." He shakes his head. "He's a good pawn at times, but he lack his father's understanding of what needs to be done."
Sada settles back in her chair again. She looks a little pale. Her fingers curl against the fabric of her skirt, but she presses it down and away. This is probably pushing buttons in her head, even if they are not rational or sensible ones.
This may be the plan.
"So, it's just - the two of you now?" she asks, sounding awed (and a little surprised).
It may be a bit much for Sada to take in at once. Yurika is studying Sada's expression very carefully, as well as her actions and reactions. She honestly doesn't know what to expect from Sada once the shock would begin to fade, though she does take a chance to slip in an answer of her own, "For a while, yes. But our numbers are increasing little by little. I'm afraid we couldn't all show up for this particular gathering.." her voice trailing off then.
"Yurika's correct... You may know some of the other recent members -- Momo Karuizawa, from Taiyo High. Gabriel Kai, from Justice. There are also several lower-level operatives... you met one, from Pacific, the night we met." Kurow may as well go all-out here, if Sada really is going to be working with them. He keeps his cool every step of the way, though -- this is Kurow in 'leadership mode'.
Taking a breath, he says, "Now... I will say that things often get -- difficult. You may have to do things that seem cruel or hurtful, in the name of ensuring Japan's future." With a little smile, though, he delineates the 'upside' of this arrangement. "However, you'll receive training, and your life will be as comforable as we can make it when you're not 'on the clock.'"
Yurika says, "Gasp!!!"
Sada listens. She nods, slowly, as Kurow speaks; she does not hear, perhaps, all the details about comfort. Perhaps she has that peculiarly ascetic lifestyle some rich people feign; perhaps, however, she is only listening to the romantic parts of the dreams. She doesn't ask about Gabriel Kai, and has, fortunately for her, no experience with the Tennis Lolita.
She straightens up in her chair. "I understand," she says, before something nags at the back of her mind. Her lips purse, and she looks down at her knees as she tries to cudgel it back out, through the faint sore fogginess that being whacked on the head by Preston's oar put into her mind. Then it leaks back in.
She looks back up. "-- This must be what that crazy woman was talking about! She wanted me to find out, ahh, what was up with the weird things in the schools... that must be what you guys are fighting against." She snaps her fingers. "Ahh.. Elle, you know, the big dark American woman?" She looks to Yurika: "She was hanging around the front gate, picking on the judo club a couple of weeks ago."

The musician actually blinks a little in suprise there. She was aware of Elle herself of course, but she had no idea the american had sent Sada to do some sort of job. But she was left wondering was the job related to what the elder Kirishima was doing? That couldn't be, she kept things very tightly under wraps! A confused glance was given to Kurow, and then back to her schoolmate with a small frown. It looked like she agian would have to leave Kurow to answer this one, because she wasn't aware at all of what kind of confusion was going on. The musician would need more details herself.
"... well, well, this /is/ a surprise," Kurow says, as Sada talks about Elle looking into the 'weird things in the schools.' He doesn't know what exactly the woman was looking for information on -- it /could/ be him, but it could just as well be Hyo or even something else entirely. He doesn't like unknowns; they make things much, much harder to plan for.
"Well," he says, "what exactly did she tell you to look into?" He may as well start there -- if he knows what the leads are, he can probably start tracing them back. At the very worst, he'll know that they're something unknown.
Sada raises a hand to wave it in front of her - she has not yet realized that this may make her look like the world's worst spy, but then, would she have brought it up? - as she says, "She didn't say, just that she was asking about it. She talked like she was some kind of," quotey fingers, "information broker" end quoty fingers, "and she wanted to find out about the strange things, like Zaki's gang."
Which is really pretty self-explanatory if you think about it.
She pauses for a moment, fingers curling in the hem of her dress. "She was really /weird/. I had to get this plane into California, for the SNF that didn't end up happening, and she just came at me in the middle of the food court at one in the morning."
".. Ooooooh," Yurika then replies with a mild sigh of relief. It most definatly makes sense to Yurika, because really.. What is a gang doing in the middle of a school that's all about proper and elegance? At this point, Yurika is wishing she had some tea, but alas.
"I understand now. It is a little unusual, isn't it? I rather like it. I'd be careful looking into such a thing too deeply though because Zaki-san simply doesn't like nosey people. I've met Elle myself, she's unusual, but her sources seem to be 'legit'. I'd like to know where she was from myself, she happened to know not what the Darkside Student Congress is, but what it's aims are. In fact," she looks to Kurow then, "She had asked me as well to help her and I suppose some sort of army fight against a 'Rugal Bernstein'. She said if I were to help her, she would return that favor. I know she's a stranger and such, but if I can understand anyone, it's musicians. I do not think she'd lie to me."
"I don't find the Ladies' Gang too worrisome," Kurow admits, with a small shrug. "As for this 'information broker'... it's a little curious that a mere 'information broker' would be gathering troops to kill Rugal Bernstein, don't you think?" Of course, this is purely a selfish move on Kurow's part -- after all, he /has/ been talking with Rugal. This may put him in a conflict of interest.
He pauses, very briefly, as he processes something Yurika's said. "She knew what our aims were? Did she know you were one of us?" This is, roughly, when the paranoia starts to kick in; he does not like this situation one bit.
"You mean about restoring Japan?" Sada asks, looking at Yurika and blinking owlishly. Ha ha, she thinks, I handled it way better than she did!
Another part says, be nice, she's not bad, even if she is sort of weird and a goth-loli.
Yurika shakes her head to Kurow, "No, I don't believe her intent is to kill him, I wouldn't involve myself in something like that. I don't understand what her motive is at all, especially since her aim appears to be gaining strength in numbers rather than people she trusts.. It'd be a good opportunity for me to learn a few things myself, anyway, I think. Anyway I don't fully understand how much she knows. She just seems to understand that I want to become a high figure in Seijyun."
Another glance is given to Sada, "Not likely. And.. Ah, well, I suppose that follows more under my own aims, rather than 'our's.." she confesses a bit sheepishly.
"Then evidently she's not someone we need to worry about; after all, people who would trade trustworthy allies for raw numbers." Even if Kurow's own definition of 'trustworthy' is a little -- or indeed /significantly/ -- warped, he at least has that one down. "Pay attention to her, and tell me how your various interactions with her go; we may need to keep tabs on her."
"Right!" Sada says, with a tone of voice which is dutiful. She does not, of course, raise her hand in a salute -- that would be silly. She does, however, consider offering the dried squid to the two of them...
No, she thinks, we're still talking. "Other than that," she continues, "nothing that strange has gone on. She said I'm all detached and distant because I use a weapon, like Billy Kane or something. She's probably too smart for her own good."
Yurika nods her head in agreement to Kurow, "Very well, I will do that as well.. And I agree with you, Sada, she is.. There's something about her that really bugs me, yet I feel it'd be a waste for her to end up on anyone elses side. I will do what I can.."
It's then that the clock chimes at the half-hour, Yurika glancing upward a moment, and then slowly stands up, "Well I think we've said about enough for today.. And I'm sure Miss Asai has plenty enough to think about for the evening. Perhaps now'd be a good point for us to adjourn?
"Yes... I think that's enough for now," Kurow says, with a firm nod. "Thank you -- both of you -- for bringing this to my attention. I'm placing my trust in you two on this matter -- do not disappoint me," he says, still very much in 'business' mode... at least, until he stands up.
He walks toward the door, with a somewhat pensive expression on his face; turning to Yurika, he says, "Sister, go on ahead. There's one last thing I'd like to tell Sada -- privately." This is, perhaps, a calculated move to get his sister even more motivated to perform adequately. "Thank you for coming."
"Thank you for coming, I'll make sure to have refreshments next time," Sada says, ooching over to make room for Yurika to get out of the room. She then looks towards Kurow...
It's actually a vaguely puzzled look, but it COULD be a cover for lascivious desires, couldn't it, Yurika?!
Yurika is going to kill both of you bi--
".. Of course.." Yurika replies, though the sudden narrow of her eyes is more than a clue to show Kurow that she does not like that idea in the least. Not in any way shape or form. But what could she do about it?
Nothing, that's what, and without anouther word, or at least little more than a pouty huff, the silver-haired girl makes her way down the hall and straight to her room. And she's much too elegant to slam the door shut.
"Thank you," Kurow says to Yurika, though he does note that it would be best to make this at least /relatively/ quick; after all, if he spends too much extra time here, Yurika's imagination is liable to run wild.
Once Yurika is good and gone, Kurow steps in toward Sada, promptly sweeping her into a tight embrace, looking down toward her. "... thank you," he says, with a smile. "I'm glad you're willing to help. I expect great things from you." He leans down slowly, carefully -- and if Sada doesn't resist, she's liable to get a reasonably technically competent kiss... albeit one that's a little lacking in intensity of passion. You can't fake everything!
Sada turns her head back from a glance towards Yurika leaving - to be swept up?! She isn't terribly soft, but her eyes go wide. "I," she manages to say, before her eyes half-close, and she gets kissed soundly.
There is no strong reaction from Sada beyond a half-gasp muffled by lips against hers. This may well be the ceremonial occasion known in legend as the 'first kiss' - at least for Sada.
The door remains treacherously open. In fact, a breeze blows it open a little further, just in time for Yurika to turn a corner and look back?!
Yurika unfortunatly is nowhere near the premesis. :(
Well if she did she'd be annoyed.
Kurow holds the kiss for a fair while, keeping his eyes on Sada's the whole time. When he finally breaks it, he runs a hand gently through Sada's hair. He doesn't say anything immediately, just holding the girl close, giving her his best and most apparently-genuine smile. Evidently, he's waiting for her.
"O, oh," Sada finally breathes, her face flushing scarlet around the cheeks; the rest pinkens as well. "I, ah - I -"
She then turns her head away, moving to step out of Kurow's embrace if he does not try to restrain her. "We shouldn't - I mean, ah, they're going to have a room check soon, probably..."
Getting out of Kurow's embrace is not particularly problematic; he seems to be a /little/ reluctant to let go, but does so in the end. "... you're right," Kurow says, nodding, as she mentions the room check. "It's a pity, but in that case, I should probably be on my way... it was very good to see you. Perhaps we could do something later in the week?"
He starts to move toward the open door, very slowly.
"Oh!" Sada says, eyes going wide. "Yes, of course!" she says, before continuing in something which may be approaching a babble, "You have my number and everything, don't you, in case you need to send me a message?" Text messaging, of course, is the hot new thing.
She stands up as Kurow moves off to the side, folding her hands behind her back as she watches him. She steps after, probably to be able to close the door behind him.
"Yes -- I got it when we went to the boardwalk," Kurow says, with a firm nod. "And I believe you have mine, so -- yes, let's talk more about it later." It is a bit of a rush, he thinks, to have someone give him such complete control of her emotions. It's an excellent feeling. "Thank you again for letting us meet here tonight... but I wouldn't want you to get in trouble, so, until next time -- farewell." With that, he starts to head for the door more quickly.
