Neo League 376 - #394: Drake vs Katelynn

Description: When fate and luck goes against skill, fate and luck apparently comes out on top in this rematched fight. (Winner: Katelynn)

Metro Square, a major part of the city known as Metro City. Whenever you're in the square, there's always something going on, no matter what time of day it is. And there's always something to do in the city as well, which is why it's such a major tourist attraction. Almost like another New York City, if you will. In the center of the square is what has been designated as the fighting area for when fighters choose to battle here. A large ring has been set up, and cameras are ready to roll, with a scoreboard being displayed at an angle that anyone can see from whereever they're spectating from.

Already having arrived in the city is none other than the Shotokan expert herself Kate Molina, better known by her fighting circuit name of Katelynn. She steps into the ring and begins warming up a little, preparing herself for the fight that should be starting very shortly. Meanwhile, the announcer can be heard saying, "Ladies and gentlemen, the first fighter from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Katelynn!"

Drake is not wearing any typical show-fight garb today. His expression is set stoically, already having donned his dark side persona. His left arm is crooked, linked together with one of his teammates; Arika Fade. His right arm is extended out to the side, slapping hands on his way to a corner of the ring. Once he reaches it, he releases Arika's arm and climbs inside.
From there, Drake - or Domino, to be proper now - proceeds to the center of the fighting area, hands lifting to call for the audience to quieten down. He speaks up, voice clear and tone even over the square. Someone's had practice speaking over large audiences before. "Miss Katelynn, last week you beat me." Pause. "...But you beat me because you got lucky, and I got careless. I acknowledge skill and talent - not simple fortune. So today, I'm here to take back the points you stole from me unjustly." He points across the ring to the female, eyes narrowing a bit. "Bring it on. Prove me wrong, and -maybe- you'll get my respect. But if you even slightly believe what I'm saying, you'd best back down and surrender those points back to me, or else you're about to get humiliated!" A smirk sets to the model's face, and he backs a bit to await the announcement to begin.

"Fortune, you say? There is no such thing as fortune in martial arts. What you call fortune is merely fate. And fate is only governed by the skills of a fighter and how well they use it," Katelynn replies before bowing respectfully to her opponent and then getting into her fighting stance.

"All right, the fighters are ready to go! So let's get this thing started!" The announcer says. With a signal from the referee, the bell clangs, signalling the beginning of the match. And since Katelynn is intent on proving her point, she waits for Domino to make the first move.

Before getting -too- far from Drake, Arika leans over and presses a flirty little kiss to his cheek, and then moves to stand right at the front of the crowd. No matter the outcome, she's here to watch the fight. The punk rock princess takes her eyes off of Domino just long enough to sign an autograph for an adorable little fanboy, but then she resets her focus on the man she walked into the area with. The words 'Good Luck' are mouthed to him while he speaks over the audience, but there's not a chance in Hell that she's going to interrupt him at this point by whistling or calling out his name. He's here to fight, and she doesn't want to blow his concentration.

Domino turns to face the crowd as Katelynn speaks about fate and fortune, twiddling his index finger in the air with a roll of his eyes. "She believes more in luck than skill, ladies and gents," he reiterates. "Truly the mark of a warrior." He then turns to start towards the center of the ring, amethyst eyes narrowing on the female.
The martial wrestler takes up his stance, shifting his left foot forward into a shallow backstance. His right hand chambers at chest level, fingers splayed at the ready. His left arm angles downwards before himself, hand flat. Other than that, he simply observes the female.

Katelynn doesn't believe in luck, to be honest, she's just saying that what many believe to be luck is merely dictated by how you handle things when they come up. It's all about how you make it to be. You're the one who determines whether you make it or break it, especially in the ring. And that's a point she intends to prove in today's rematch.

Katelynn is, however, not impressed by how Domino is trying to prove his point about luck once again. Things like that don't help you win battles. If he wants to beat Katelynn, he's going to have to utilize his skills, starting now with a quick punch aimed at his face.

Domino's expression is set in stone, his gaze steely. The moment she closes in to throw her punch, his left hand shoots up to swiftly grab her by the wrist to halt the attack. His right arm thrusts downwards to swiftly hook between her legs to hoist her off her feet. He turns quickly to slam the girl on her back, landing his torso crossways upon hers in a powerslam.
The moment the hit is delivered, he pushes forward to handspring off of her and back to his feet.
From there, he simply turns to face the female again. No break in Domino's expression.

At the turn of attacks, the crowd cheers, whistling and throwing their fists up in the air to spur the model wrestler on.

The cheers come wildly for the wrestler, while everyone doesn't give a damn for this karate fighter right now. No problem to Katelynn, since right now it's more important that she get back up after that counterattack hit her good. Fortunately, no ribs or anything were broken yet, as it's far too early in the match for something like that.

"Pretty good for a first counter," Katelynn says as she casts an unfazed look at Domino. "But, I'm just getting started." And with that, she propels herself off of her front foot, flying at Domino with her back foot extended in her Missile Kick!

COMBATSYS: Katelynn successfully hits Drake with Missile Kick.

Struck! Domino's face jerks aside from the hit, though he spins into it readily in favor of manuevering behind the girl's back. His hands lift quickly to grab ahold of her head, and he turns a quick spin to propel the female soundly to the ground. Nothing fancy - just pure power to force the female down again head fist.

COMBATSYS: Drake successfully hits Katelynn with Strong Throw.

Moving out of the way to avoid being grabbed, Katelynn is just a little off on her timing, and she finds herself being grabbed and tossed onto the canvas head first. Despite the fact she rolls as soon as she hits, the impact still leaves her a little frazzled and a little dazed, but she quickly shakes that off. Still more cheering from the crowd for the wrestler. Fine with her, since she simply plans to return the favor herself, this time with a quick throw.

COMBATSYS: Drake dodges Katelynn's Quick Throw.

Domino weaves low when the girl attempts to come back at him, and he twists aside from the attack. The clean, crisp movements bring the agile fighter around behind his opponent, and his right arm lashes out to loop around her throat. His left arm lifts to lock his right hand on his left forearm, cinching the chokehold tightly. Unless she wriggles free, of course.

COMBATSYS: Katelynn endures Drake's Quick Throw!

Instead of wriggling free, Katelynn simply decides to use one of her more favorite tactics, which is to simply go along with the throw and prepare to counter when the time is right. As soon as she's grabbed, she calculates which direction she'll be going in, and when she is thrown, she braces for impact, rolling as soon as she can.

As soon as she gets back to her feet, Katelynn launches a beachball sized bluish ball of chi at Domino, deciding it's time to use some of her more flashy moves this time.

COMBATSYS: Katelynn successfully hits Drake with Energy Fist.
-* CRITICAL HIT! *-

Domino is struck by the fist and knocked back off his feet. He tumbles head over heels, but catches himself cleanly in a crouch again. His expression still does not shift, nor does it even flinch. He simply remains in that crouched position, amethyst eyes narrowing on the female again.

COMBATSYS: Drake focuses on his next action.

Drake            1/-------/=======|=======\-------\1         Katelynn

After a big attack, it's always a good idea to focus on what you should do next, since you don't know if your opponent has a counterattack coming or if they've got something else up their sleeve. But Katelynn does neither of these. Instead, she simply takes a moment to catch her breath. Seems strange, but it's worth it.

COMBATSYS: Katelynn gains composure.

Drake            1/-------/=======|======-\-------\0         Katelynn

Domino's expression faults at that. It turns somehow more bland. Unamused, perhaps, is the better term. The wrestler dashes in quickly, hands lashing out to grab ahold of her by the leg. If caught, he simply yanks it out from under her and twists her over onto her front. His foot then sets to her back, and he yanks the leg backwards in a standing boston crab hold.

COMBATSYS: Katelynn fails to counter Strong Throw from Drake with Palm Blaster.

Another throw, huh? Maybe a well time Palm Blaster will--

OOOF!

Instead of countering her opponent, Katelynn finds herself getting thrown once again, and this time she's a bit dazed and confused, meaning that there's nothing coming from her right now, which leaves her pretty vulnerable. Talk about bad luck, except Katelynn doesn't believe in that, remember?

So with the female caught in the submission hold, Domino simply wrenches it harder for a few seconds. But with that out of the way, he reaches down to grab her by the hair and haul her back up to her feet. And if he manages to get her standing, he shifts back onto one foot, hands chambering at his sides. He drops into a deep forward stance along with the thrust of a double palmheel strike aimed for her torso. And the moment his arms are fully extended, a bright white flash of energy flares from his hands.

COMBATSYS: Drake successfully hits Katelynn with Whiteout.

OK, one bad move is bad enough, but dodging at this time was even worse. Not only did Katelynn fail miserably, but she also found herself in one doozy of an attack, that left her pretty badly hurt. At least this time, she's still got the energy for another attack ready. And this one is a real doozy in itself.

"You talk about luck and fortune like it's your mantra... Well, win or lose, this was merely my fate," Katelynn says as she focuses on her legs, which glow blue for a moment, and then she launches a more powerful Missile Kick!

COMBATSYS: Drake fails to counter Super Missile Kick from Katelynn with Lunar Eclipse.

Domino rolls his eyes and shakes his head. He then readies himself for the next attack.. and he leaps into the air to meet it. Unfortunately for him, it takes over his intended strike, and he's powered back over and he rolls to a crouch again. Domino's eyes narrow once more, and he raises back into his full height.

Well, this time the attack worked, and both Katelynn and her opponent are on the ropes. But now it's not just about luck, but about choosing the right technique and knowing how to properly execute it. One small mistake here could easily spell the end of the match for either fighter. This is why Katelynn is carefully choosing what to do next, all while looking rather battered and bruised.

Finally, she decides to utilize her signature attack, where she drops down and attempts to perform a foot sweep, only to pause and then spin around on her front foot and use her back foot to sweep in her Feint Sweep technique!

COMBATSYS: Drake fails to counter Feint Sweep from Katelynn with Solar Eclipse.

Domino situates himself to counter the attack. And it looks to be completely perfect in design. Though the foot feints, and that's that. Domino hits his back, and his head smacks against the ground. Whack. He lets out a quiet groan, then lifts his hands to cover his face for a few seconds. "Fine. You win," he mutters. "Guess you've earned it. But you didn't earn my respect. Screw fate."

"I'm not looking for respect. That is not what martial arts are entirely about. There is a lot more to the fighting arts than that, but that is my personal philosophy. I give you credit, though, for you did fight well," Katelynn replies. At that time, the referee checks on Domino before signalling for the bell to be rung. The announcer then comes on and says, "The winner by knockout is Katelynn!"

At that, a mixture of cheering and booing can be heard as the referee gestures towards the victor of the match. Katelynn simply bows in her traditional style and walks out of the ring, leaving the medical personnel to attend to Domino. It was a rematch he wanted, and a rematch he got. He fought well, but he ended up losing. Such is the world of fighting, where one will not always win, no matter how great or weak their skills are.

COMBATSYS: Katelynn has ended the fight here.

Drake rolls his eyes. "Save it. You take your fate babble and my points, and you cherish it while it lasts." He then rolls over and shoves the medical crew away from himself. His arms fold over his chest, glaring after the female. He then waves to the audience, smirking. He lost, but he'll rile the fans anyway.
