Description: Katelynn and Domino have at it in the ancient Mayan ruins of Central America. One is a traditional Shotokan Karate fighter, while the other is a pro wrestler using his own style. Which will prevail? (Winner: Katelynn)
THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT CENTRAL AMERICA:
1: It's freaking hot almost constantly.
2: They had some funky cool early natives, like the Mayans.
3: It's.. uh.. below North America.
All of these are important factors for today's challenge!
First of all, the sky is completely clear with a bright yellow sun glaring down from the 'bove. There is no breeze today. No wind. There is only HEAT. For anyone further north, this would feel quite a bit like Summer. For Central Americans? It's so-so.
Secondly, the fighting venue for today is an ancient Mayan temple. Several stories of flat steps lead up to a huge flat basin of sand-colored stones, riddled with vines coursing this way and that. At the top of the temple, spectators are gathered around the perimeter to watch. Not -many- spectators, but more than a few, and quite a few of them fans of Domino and his fast-rising career. They're blocked off from the central basin by simple wooden posts roped with hemp for their safety.
Third, well... erm... it -is- below North America still.
Domino is the first to make his way to the fighting zone, robe tied securely about himself. When he treks up the steps, he hops cleanly over the ropes to enter the ring. Once inside, he turns about to face the audience in a slow circle, fists lifted in victory. After a couple seconds of this, he turns another quicker circle and removes his robe, casting it out to the cheering crowd. He then makes his way to the center of the fighting area, waiting for his challenger... and occassionally waving to some fans.
When you're in Central America, make like the Mayans do... or something like that. Wait, wrong country! Well, you get the general idea, right? Right!
Nonetheless, it's a great day for a fight here in Central America, outside of a Mayan temple, and there's all sorts of neat and unusual stuff for a backdrop as the fight preparations get underway. Katie Molina (better known on the fighting circuit as Katelynn) is sitting outside of the ring, dressed a little more conservatively for the summer heat as she loosens up a little before the match. After she's finished, she puts her sandals on, apparently not wanting to fight barefooted, and takes a drink of Gatorade before stepping into the arena.
As soon as she sets foot inside the arena, she bows towards her competitor and says, "I look forward to taking you on in battle!" And then gets into her fighting stance.

It's Hotaru, world traveler. It isn't a slight against the two fighters today, but the Kenpo artist hadn't flown all the way out here to just to watch this match. Central America was just the next of many spots she was visiting in her on-going search for a sensei or mentor from which to learn. But she had no better luck here than many of the other serious dojos she has been trying. Too small, too weak, too young, lacking the proper brutal disposition, and so forth are the usual reasons she's turned down.
And so... it was to be back to Japan. Until she became aware of a Neo League match to be filmed not too far from where she was visiting. That in and of itself wasn't enough to keep her from wanting to go home, but when she saw who was participating... Well, count her among those here to see Domino fight. While she's not enamored with the fighting model as some of his more enthusiastic female fans might be, she still has enjoyed following his progress thus far and the chance to see him fight in person rather than just watching the videos was something she couldn't pass up. Sighing at the miserable heat, Hotaru idly realizes she's glad she won't be taking up classes here. As the match gets ready to get started, she forgets about the weather though, focusing intently on the fight at hand.
Domino spies his female challenger and inclines his head slightly with a small smile. "Hey, there. So do I."
And from there, Domino settles into a shallow backstance, left foot forward. His right hand hovers at chest level, fingers splayed at the ready to grapple. His left arm rests at a downwards angle before his body, hand flat.
And the announcer calls to fight.
Domino dashes in towards the as-of-yet unknown female, expression turning more stoic and devoid of humor. The moment he closes in, he skips into the air and twists in a quick spin, lashing his right hand out in a reverse knifehand strike aimed for her cheek.

The fight is underway, and already Katelynn's got her fighting spirit going for her, as her arm comes up to deflect the strike aimed at her cheek. It's not that much effort for her, and even then blocking it doesn't hurt very much. In fact, it probably wouldn't have hurt too much if it hit her cheek to begin with. But nonetheless, that's just the first of many.
Once Katelynn's knocked the hand away, she quickly goes towards Domino's stomach with a swift forward thrust kick.

Domino strikes a forearm and, surprise-surprise, the stoic look breaks to allow a slight grin. The follow-up kick is responded to with a clean, swift sideways spin to evade it completely. "Not bad," he compliments.
But as soon as this has been said, he attempts to slip in behind her back. His arms go to hook beneath her arms, and his hands attempt to lock together behind her neck. The arms pull back while the hands push forward, in an attempt to steadily stretch and apply pressure to her neck in a sleeper hold.

There's no sense in attempting to avoid a grapple that you know is going to get you no matter what, so Katelynn simply braces herself for the sleeper hold. As soon as Domino gets her in it, she waits for the opportune moment, albeit taking a little damage in the process but that's part of her plan, and then she breaks free from the hold.
Without any further hesitation, Katelynn spins around and quickly goes down to throw a foot sweep at her opponent. But just before her foot hits, she quickly pivots on the extended foot and comes towards Domino with the other foot!

Domino loses his grip on the girl, and he blinks his eyes once. This leads him straight to getting struck. He starts to fall, then gets hit again, sent tumbling back. He lands in a composed crouch however, amethyst eyes narrowing. The model professional wrestler remains in that position, sizing the female up intently, searching for any obvious weaknesses in form.

Katelynn gets back onto both feet from her signature attack, and notices that Domino is apparently taking a moment to check her out. A wise decision on her opponent's behalf if she says so herself. Katelynn, however, doesn't like to copycat other people. Instead, she takes a moment to focus on increasing her chi, closing her eyes and breathing deep as the light blue aura flows into her.

That moment of concentration is what Domino was looking for. A faint smile creases his lips, and in a sudden flash, the wrestler is dashing in towards her again. Not to attack, however. Oh, no. Instead, when he gets into range, his right foot sets to her knee, kicking himself upwards. His left foot sets to her shoulder, launching him into the air. While airborne, he twists about in a clean stationary backflip, and he pulls his body taut. He aims to smash his body down across hers, abs-first in a moonsault.

Katelynn comes out of her charging phase just as Domino comes right at her. Seeing no way of getting out of the way in time, she simply braces herself for the attack once again, and lets herself go with the throw. As soon as she's able to, she rolls onto her feet again and takes advantage of her increased inner power to utilize one of her more favorite attacks.
Focusing on her fist, a bluish aura appears and is then thrust from her fist in the shape of a large ball, aimed right at Domino!

Domino lands with the moonsault splash over the girl, and immediately backrolls away. Once on his feet, he's immediately assumed his stance again. The energy is taken into account, and his stance deepens a little - almost immeasurably. The moment the attack comes close, he suddenly weaves low and twists underneath it, coming in close to Katelynn's side.
As the model raises to his full height, he attempts to hoist the girl up across his shoulders. Left hand holding her by the neck, right hand holding her leg. If caught in this position, both hands pull downwards, arching her spine across his shoulders and stretching her abdominal area in a torture rack submission hold.

Dodging her attack, huh? Well, two can play at that game. In fact, Katelynn swiftly steps out of the way of the grasp of Domino, leaving him to grab onto nothing but air. And since you can't hold onto air, that leaves him vulnerable for a follow up attack.
Swiftly, Katelynn throws a punch aimed right at Domino's side.

Domino comes up with nothing, alas. And for his trouble, he gets hit on the side. It pushes him a little, and his eyes set keenly back onto the female. He begins to circle her slowly, keeping a close eye on her movements. Nothing is said, and there is no change in his expression.
The attack did its job, leaving Domino in a bit of a vulnerable position at the moment, and that means that Katelynn has the opportunity to go at him again. It's almost like when your opponent loses a turn in a big board game battle. Except this is about knocking them out and not just winning!
Katelynn rushes up and grabs Domino by the shoulders while wrapping her right leg around Domino's left so that the leg wraps around from the right side and her ankle is in front of his. If this works, she's going to trip him off his foot while using the holds on his shoulders to push him away from her at the same time.

Domino is very much familiar with this throw. It's not a part of Tae Kwan Do or Jujitsu, but it's used so very frequently, he'd be disappointed in himself if he were to be caught in it. Her hands set to his shoulders, but instead of taking the fall, he nimbly slips around her body to get behind her again. Except this time, his arms go to loop around her stomach. If caught, he bridges back suddenly in a German suplex, aiming to drive her head and shoulders against the ground.

Katelynn's effort to move out of the way of the suplex fails, and she finds herself being sent, headfirst, into the canvas, which, despite being a soft surface, hurts nonetheless. She lays there for a moment, bloodied and dazed, and the referee rushes over to check on her situation. Fortunately, she manages to get back onto her feet, and after the referee checks to make sure she's OK, he steps back and waves for continuation of the match.
When she turns to look at Domino again, her eyes close again, and her breathing begins to go soft and smooth, like she's focusing on something. Her eyes open again, and this time there is that familiar glow of chi around her as she stares at him. Without warning, she rushes towards him, attempting to administer a swift series of punches and kicks in the traditional style of a Shotokan Karate kata. The only difference is that this is a lot faster than your standard kata!

Domino rolls over to his feet and looks.. a bit concerned. He was pretty sure she could handle that hit. Did he overdo it?
When she raises back up, the wrestler gives a nod and he takes his stance again. Or starts to. Before he can even react, he's struck repeatedly and knocked off his feet. He lets out a quiet growl and backrolls to a crouched position again.
And again, the amethyst eyes narrow on the female.
In a sudden burst of movement, he dashes towards her, attempting to grab ahold of her shoulders...

A valiant effort on behalf of Domino, and that looked like it could've had potential for a lot of damage as well as a show for the audience. That is, if the attack had successfully been made. However, there's always that chance that an attack can be dodged, or even countered.
And that's what happens when Katelynn sees her chance. Just before Domino can grab her by the shoulders, she thrusts her left palm, glowing with chi, at his stomach, which not only stops the attack, but also gives her a bit of breathing room!
Domino very nearly grabs ahold of her when.. he's struck. He wasn't expecting -that- at all. Blasted back, he tumbles over and lands in a crouch again. Huh. That's a pain. His teeth grit and he figures he wasn't giving the girl as much credit as he should have. He raises to his feet a little more slowly and nods towards her. He assumes his stance again, quietly studying her.

Again with the focus, and again Katelynn isn't going to copycat him. She's intending on staying in this fight as long as she can. So she decides to utilize the time to take a breather.

Domino continues to study her.. and a small smirk takes to his face. His arms shift languidly, only to reset into their standard positions. The motion seems to have more to do with focusing on concentrating out pain than anything else, though. He exhales a soft, slow sigh, starting to regulate his breathing again. Other than that, he seems to be waiting on her.

OK, enough downtime. It's time to finish this match once and for all. Katelynn regains her stance and focuses intently on her opponent. It appears he's taking a moment to charge up as well, so let's hope that he'll be ready to defend against Katelynn's incoming jump kick!

Domino's eyes narrow on the female as she seems to take on the offense. Just as he'd hoped she would. Defending isn't quite so much the idea as transferring momentum in his favor. The wrestler slips aside from the oncoming foot, and one arm lifts to hook between her legs. His other arm lifts to catch her around the neck. And still with the speed and momentum of her jumpkick, he twists around and drops down with her, slamming her back squarely upon the ground and smashing his abdomen across hers in a hard powerslam.
From there, Domino pushes forward into a handspring, landing cleanly on his feet again. He turns to face the female, taking his stance again. But by now, his breathing has accelerated and grown more heavy. This fight has lasted longer than he expected...
The fight has lasted a long time, but that doesn't mean it's going to be going on for much longer. At least if Katelynn has something to say about it. Of course, it doesn't help that she just received a severe thrashing from her opponent while trying to strike him down. With little else to go on, Katelynn propels herself through the air off her forward foot, extending her rear foot towards her opponent, flying at him rather quickly like a missile!

Domino prepares to just catch her out of the air again. It looks pretty easy, really. Simple, in fact. But fortune seems to be on her side. He moves a fraction too late, and finds himself struck and bored to the ground. And again, he backrolls and ends in a crouched, readied position... all scornful over himself. Stupid, stupid, stupid mistake. Stupid, stupid, stupid...
A foolish move on behalf of poor Domino. Katelynn simply ends up striking him before he can even get his counter to work on her, and that leaves him in a less than stellar position for fighting. Tsking, she walks over to him casually and then, in one swoop, attempts to utilize a quick throw on him that will grab his shoulders and throw him across the ring.

Oh, and now? Now she's going to try and embarrass him? That'll go over really well. For some reason though, Domino is far too fatigued to do anything about it. He gets flung, landing on his back in a roll.
This doesn't keep him down, though.
The model wrestler raises again, looking very much off balance and annoyed. He rushes at the girl, and launches himself at her ferociously, aiming a full-body tackle. Or known in wrestling as a spear technique.

Katelynn simply steps out of the way of Domino's last effort to take her down. It was a valiant effort, but it just wasn't enough. The referee quickly rushes over to check on the status of Domino, kneeling down and looking at him carefully, before waving his hands to signal that the match is officially over.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the winner of this match by knockout is Katelynn!" The announcer says over the intercom, and the crowd begins cheering for her. Katelynn simply bows politely and then looks towards Domino, who is apparently all right, since there are medical staff on hand. At that, she then begins to realize that she herself is also a bit injured, and limps back towards her corner, where medical staff tend to her to make sure she's OK and hasn't broken anything.

Is Domino okay? Why, certainly, physically. He'll be fine. But ego-wise?
IN NO WAY.
In his mind, he had this fight completely under control. He pushes himself to a knee and turns to shoot Katelynn a dirty look. He likewise points a finger her way, just so she knows who he's addressing. "This isn't over! We're gonna have a rematch real soon! You got lucky this time, and luck's like lightning - it won't be hitting you twice." He then waves away the medics with a dirty look and slowly gets to his feet.
Hey, pro wrestler, remember? They do these things. Could be entirely for theatric purposes, could be honest. Who knows?
