Aislinn - The Tryout

Description: An impromptu fight in Howard's Arena serves as a tryout for Elle, for work with NESTS.

Howard Arena: Where the Great Ones Writhe.

That's what it says on the commercials anyhow. Elle couldn't be bothered to care one way or another, because Howard Arena is 'where she gets her ass kicked'. Her last few fights here have been complete disasters. Between Mimiru stopping her ultimate attack with her puny little hands, Candy shoving tonfas up her nose, and Hugo throwing her away like a used kleenex, Elle has reason to cast an askance eye to this arena for sure. Nevertheless, here she is again at the request of her new 'clients' which came in an email she almost threw away like a penis-enhancement advertisement.

At any rate, Elle hangs out around the arena like she's wont to do, looking entirely too bored with the situation. It just doesn't do to look fresh faced and excited about new work, after all. That means you're too eager. It also doesn't fit with the entire 'disaffected rocker chick' look either. Instead, she ponders on deeper things, like why it's absolutely impossible to get a decent Hostess snack cack in this country. Because there's no better way to kill an evening than watching Razor Ramon hard Gay hump innocent bystanders than on the couch with a box of Ho-hos.

She tunes her guitar halfheartedly while lost in these deep thoughts. Also, she has a new outfit: An impossibly short leather skirt and fishnet stockings compliment a pair of patent leather jackboots. She wears a white t-shirt with the 'Van Halen' logo on it, and a designer jacket tossed over her shoulders. It's a little too nice to go with the outfit, but she did have to mug a guy for it, so it's not like she's going to be losing it any time soon.

Why -is- she here? Aislinn is not entirely sure. Oh sure, there's the whole 'televised fight' bit. But why was -she- requested? For whatever reasons, it was to be her. Aislinn was not privy to the Elle-NESTS connection, if any, but since she was requested... here she is. Or rather, here she comes.

Aislinn hasn't fought in the Howard Arena much, but even if she did, she wouldn't have particularly fond or unfond memories of the place; to her it's just another battlefield, a place in which to fight. Perhaps less tactically interesting than, say, Masters Stadium's Red Arena, but... a place to fight.

If Elle's been tangling with dolled up schoolgirls like Mimiru and mutant behemoths like Hugo... well, Aislinn may not be any more comforting. She sure looks young, at least, as she walks up onto the stage, but her demeanor is ice-cold; she looks at least as bored as Elle, if not more so. Perhaps bored isn't the word--it's more a lack of caring.

"I'm here," she says, looking over Elle, with perhaps a touch of disdain for the outfit. At least she's not schoolgirled up, wearing her classic leather NESTS-brand outfit.

Oh goody. Another little kid. Japan seems ultimately infested with the miserable little miscreants, and Elle's overall experience with kids has been abysmal. Despite that, she's willing to give children as a whole another chance, after teaming up with Sada a few days ago. Elle swings her guitar around lazily before whirling it into the harness she wears on her back to hold it ready for combat situations.

"Looks like, Elle replies. As she steps onto the surface of the arena, she's already marshalling her energy. She's done underestimating people. Elle's not one to hold back much, and at this juncture in her career, she'd open fire with her nastiest attacks on an asthmatic, deaf-mute and blind quadrapeligic strapped to a broken down skateboard.

"Let's do this, then," she replies, her taller frame sparking with electrical energy as the power seems from the cracks in the floor to shoot across her legs and across her torso before snapping like living whips across her hair. She's not one to get really chatty with other peons. Some say that makes her anti-social, but with Elle's personality? I t just keeps her from having to engage in lots of pointless squabbles and infighting.

COMBATSYS: Elle has started a fight here.

Aislinn isn't much like other schoolgirls, though. Her lavender eyes rake Elle's form briefly, as if considering... she will wait to say anything about Elle's combat prowess, assumed or real, until after she's seen something of it, though. The guitar almost gets a double-take, but people fight with some strange weapons... Ais just recently fought someone who used a for-real shield, after all.

"Very well," she replies, her voice quiet, but not soft. It wouldn't do to underestimate her opponent, either. With Elle taking the initiative in the fight--building that energy--Aislinn decides to take the attacking initiative. Does she go for a testing strike? Sort of; she lunges forward, exploding from a still, standing pose to a forward dash to close the distance with Elle.

She stops short, however, of making a full-on tackle; rather she converts her momentum to a straight up jump and with that she throws her right leg straight up in a classic Tae Kwon Do front kick, her heel intended to strike Elle in the chin.

COMBATSYS: Elle endures Aislinn's Medium Kick.

The attack isn't precisiely swift. Elle watches it come in with a careful eye. At the incoming rate of speed, she could set up a defense and mitigate the attack, or with some effort, sidestep the blow. Instead, Elle begins her focused approach and ends up taking the kick straight to the gut. She doubles over for a second as she eats the pain, the attack's sharp bite evaporating as fast as the shock to her system comes.

She staggers, but doesn't fall, despite the severity of the blow. "Ouch, that smarts," she hisses, drawing a sharp breath. Despite her declaration, she seems to be in decent shape still as she raises both her arms. An electrostatic charge immediately snaps into existance, running across both of them in a startling blue display. Again, not one to mince words, she directs the whole setup into a blue lightning bolt, the jagged snake of energy ripping towards Aislinn as the sharp scent of ozone fills the room. "Looks like you don't fool around," she says idly, more to herself than anyone else.

COMBATSYS: Elle successfully hits Aislinn with Depeche Mode.

The electricity is... very fast, and Aislinn is still landing; not a good thing. It strikes and Aislinn writhes helplessly for a moment as the energy crackles over her body; though she uses energy that is, in and of itself, very similar to this, that doesn't mean she's immune to the effects of others. Aislinn clenches her fists, willing her muscles still...

... and she waits. As she stands there, her feet slide out, her left forward, right back; her arms come up, left leading, in a modified boxing stance; the elbows aren't in tight, but the fists form a peek-a-boo defense over which Aislinn watches her opponent. No, she doesn't fool around...

COMBATSYS: Aislinn focuses on her next action.

Elle             0/-------/-------|===----\-------\0          Aislinn

Well, if Aislinn is going to turtle, Elle is going to go on the offensive. While the NESTS fighter is a thinking opponent, Elle tends to use instinct a little more. Not that she doesn't consider the variable, but sometimes going for just what seems right is the key to the game. At least, every time she's tried to overthink her attack style, she's managed to screw up.

Luckily for Elle, she doesn't have any shortage of the brilliant blue lightning that she tosses about like a NERF football. Even after her primary blast fizzles, she's already charging up another volley of crackling blue electricity. This time, the blast only omes from one of her hands, lancing forward in a display that would make any Star Wars fan clap with glee. As if her scandalous outfit wouldn't do that already.

And still Elle advances, attempting to close the gap between her and her opponent, dead focused on continuing to press forward until Aislinn can't deal with the constant pounding. Persistance thy name is Elle.

COMBATSYS: Aislinn dodges Elle's Pure Energy.

Not this time; Aislinn tasted the electricity once and she's not terribly eager to do so again. She reacts quicker than may be expected, perhaps, leaping to one side even as the burst-and-crackle of power passes through where she used to be.

And then, she's lunging forward, no longer a turtle but a lion, making a full on charge towards Elle. Practically flying across the ground, Aislinn clasps her hands together and shoots them forward, a two-fisted imitation of Terry Bogard's Burn Knuckle, minus the burning.

COMBATSYS: Aislinn successfully hits Elle with Sniper Thrust.

Quick enough to thread the needle and slam through Elle's hesitant defenses. Aislinn is yet another opponent whose combayt style defies description. It's not quite foundationless brawling, but it's not a structured sequence of moves, like with most regular combatants. While Elle's trying to get a bead on this weird incoming blow, she's tagged and has the stuffing knocked out of her for her troubles.

Still, the attack seems tolerable at the very least, and she staggers backward, retaliating with a quick feint and jab maneuver. The attack is fairly swift and focused on keeping Aislinn at bay while she tries to evaluate precisely how to handle this little hooligan.

COMBATSYS: Elle successfully hits Aislinn with Medium Strike.

Elle             0/-------/---====|======-\-------\0          Aislinn

The feint is what does the trick; Aislinn reacts to it and a moment later, is cursing herself for it. Still... the damage isn't too bad. And Aislinn would like to keep the offensive going; Elle thinks her style is not structured, but it -can- be... as Aislinn soon proves.

Her stance shifts; suddenly her hands are high, arms up, her back straightening, and she looks like a Muay Thai fighter. Kicks like one, too, shuffling forward and attacking Elle's shins with a series of quick, snapping low kicks, meant more for harassment than any real damage-dealing.

COMBATSYS: Elle blocks Aislinn's Light Kick.

Elle has enough wherewithall to block the attack this time. The short kicks slam against her upraised arms, and while they cause the othe woman to grunt, don't do much else. The total amount of damage heaped on Elle thus far is enough to put her on the slight defensive though, halting her constant forward progression and even causing her to step backward a little with each kick.

This time, Elle's reaching in for some moves that she's experience firsthand. Raiden threw her about like a rag doll, and managed to thrash her in a few stunning hits that were less than pleasant. It would only behoove the woman to pick up thos eattacks and attempt to emulate them herself. Her hand is already reaching out to Aislinn, attempting to get her into a chokeslam and toss her facefirst into the ground.

COMBATSYS: Aislinn fails to counter Quick Throw from Elle with Brutal Hammer.

Aislinn doesn't like being tossed about. So when Elle reaches for her, Ais is already trying to counter-attack. Unfortunately, she's not quite fast enough for it; the punk-rocker woman's hand gets its grasp and Aislinn is chokeslammed, slamming hard onto the stone flooring of the Arena. She's quick to roll away, however, rising to her feet; her neck bears a red imprint of Elle's hand, but she doesn't seem -terribly- troubled... just yet. That may of course change, should this fight go truly pear-shaped.

Well, it works for Hugo and Raiden, right? Elle watches with mild satisfaction as Aislinn smashes into the ground. Wrestlers must have this sense of contentment all day long, if their primary mode of attack is to slam people about like a bear with fish. Elle doesn't take the time to sit about and wax philosophic over the entire situation though. Instead, she's already coming in for another attack. Reaching into her jacket pocket, she's lunging forward as she tries to pin Aislinn' smotions down with a grim look on her face.

Her hand withdraws, and in them she holds an ugly looking stretch of guitar string. The metal coil is easily accessible to even one with the most meager of means, and makes a swell impromptu garrote. It's a wonder more people don't use it as such like Elle does. She tries to dart around Aislinn, and strangle the poor girl with it all the while channeling her electrical aura through it to add extra injury to the insult.

COMBATSYS: Elle successfully hits Aislinn with Live Wire.

Elle             0/-------/--=====|=======\===----\1          Aislinn

Nnh. Aislinn is NOT liking this; not seeing much of a chance to get around Elle's attack, she tries to defend it, but her hands are a touch too slow and she ends up getting choked the hell out -and- zapped for her trouble. Eventually she struggles out of the choke, very much not liking it; she tumbles forward, to get some distance.

Her offense has been blunted, rather effectively; she needs a breath to get her muscles back into working form again, to wipe away some of the pain. Her lavender eyes are starting to light up; she is, once again, starting to feel the concept of 'I want to win'. But wanting isn't enough, is it?

COMBATSYS: Aislinn gains composure.

Elle             0/-------/--=====|=======\==-----\1          Aislinn

While Elle wouldn't ever say it, she has a begrudging respect for Aislinn in some fashion. She doesn't talk much. Nothing's more annoying than some braindead chatterbox attempting to get you angry during a fight. It doesn't throw off Elle's concentration much, but holding witty banter only goes so far. After that it degenerates into name calling. When you fight with teenagers at the level Elle is forced to, the same five versions of 'poopyhead' get a little tired, no matter how Japanese it sounds.

Elle cracks her knuckles. Switching to an offensive mode has clearly put a dent in Aislinn's rushing-down strategy, but as she stops to take a breather, Elle's a little short on what to do next. As the NESTS fighter goes to lick her wounds, she begins to rip power from the ground once more, starting her steady forward approach again, the power shooting through tile cracks and across her body.

COMBATSYS: Elle gathers her will.

Elle             1/-----==/=======|=======\==-----\1          Aislinn

Time to try something big... or at least to try and punish Elle for trying to charge up. Aislinn bursts forward again, her stance more formless now; as she nears Elle, heedless of that flaring energy, Aislinn reaches way back and rips her right leg forward in a power front kick, the toe of her boot aimed to embed itself right in Elle's stomach.

As an added bonus, Aislinn's kicking foot is surrounded in her own chi, a red nimbus of electrical power that clashes spectacularly in color with Elle's.

COMBATSYS: Elle blocks Aislinn's Strong Kick.

Elle             1/--=====/=======|=======\==-----\1          Aislinn

Elle brings up a defense quickly, the powerful attack crashing across her side as she presents a narrower profile to the incoming blow. She shudders from the initial shock of the hit, but her body manages to defray most of the damage by shunting a good bit of force away from her center. It does, however, give her cause to stagger backward if only for a moment. That distance set between them is gone in an instant as Elle tries to close the gap.

She swoops around, attempting to get the girl into another choke hold. However, this time, if she succeeds, she'll slam the woman into the floor, and then heave her into the air in a high arc before pulling out the steel plated guitar strapped to her back and clubbing the poor girl across the stadium.

COMBATSYS: Aislinn fails to interrupt Guns N' Roses from Elle with Momentum Overdrive.

Elle             0/-------/---====|===----\-------\0          Aislinn

Again? Aislinn groans, internally; she hasn't been able to adjust to Elle's own unique fighting style and it's becoming something of a bother. This, however, is considerably more; despite Aislinn's best efforts, she is caught, tossed, and -slammed-... all the way across the arena, where she comes to a halt. It is actually almost ten seconds before she rises again, her body bent where she can no longer ignore injury... and yet the desire to fight is still burning somewhere within her slight frame.

She lacks finesse in a manner that defies description. Gen would probably vomit just to watch the way Elle does battle. But what she lacks in overall style she makes up for in a relatively swift attacks and sheer brutality. The woman peers across the arena and again starts to stride over with the even gait that she prefers. It's not haugty per se, but does evince someone that's just very solid with herself. At least on the outside at any rate. Aislinn's rather unbecoming appearance would indicate that she's on the ropes.

If anything, Elle should capitalize on this situation. However, rather than taking a straight effect, she's already trying to make sure her next outgoing attack is her last. Once again, the rocker is drawing in power from her surroundings, the hairs on her neck rising as the static charge indicates she's about ready to launch another titanic volley of electrical death.

COMBATSYS: Elle gathers her will.

Elle             1/-------/=======|===----\-------\0          Aislinn

Once again, it's up to Aislinn to try and end this; rising to her feet, she ignores her pain and charges forward once again. Desperation? Perhaps--perhaps not. She has performed poorly, and she knows it--but who can say what she's truly seeking? Once again, as she nears, she draws back her right leg... and once again she's throwing it forward, with all the strength she can muster. No charge this time, on it; a simple boot, as strong as she can make it, and damn the consequences.

COMBATSYS: Elle blocks Aislinn's Strong Kick.

Again, Elle presents a narrower target for Aislinn to strike, and seems a little disappointed in the retaliation that she recieved. Not quite what she had in mind. No worries, however. Elle's hand is reaching for the younger woman's throat again, the fingertips calloused from years of guitar playing. Rather than incur the wrath of hubris with a witty saying as she hopes to move in for the kill, she holds her tongue as she attempts to pick up the woman and hurl her to the ground again.

Instead of flinging Aislinn into the air, she feels the impetus to switch it up. If she connects, she'll proceed to just smash the girl with her guitar as she lay on the ground repeatedly, as if trying to re-enact LAPD's greatest hits. The girl did live in Oakland for quite some time, after all.

COMBATSYS: Aislinn fails to counter Guns N' Roses from Elle with Brutal Hammer.

COMBATSYS: Aislinn can no longer fight.

Aislinn is going to need some time in the tank after this one. Once again she tries to counter... and once again she fails. She manages to bring her arms up to protect her face and head, but otherwise... otherwise she's just pummeled straight into unconsciousness. It isn't a pretty sight and well... Aislinn's going to remember this, that's for sure... that's for damn sure.

The pummeling of the guitar to Aislinn's body doesn't stop until the girl ceases to move. Elle's kind of rotten that way. Still, once it's clear that she's the victor, she stops, and slams the weapon back into it's holset for a bit of a system's check. Overall, Elle's not too damaged. Aside from a few nasty punches, the woman appears to be in a generally good state, and she wipes her sweaty palms on her skirt. Ugh. She rolls her neck lazily and reaches down to hoist Aislinn up and sit her in a chair. After all, she doesn't have anything personal against the girl. She hangs out for as long as it takes for the paramedics to come.

When they do, however, she trots off, her boots cracking against the tiles in a sharp sound. "Well, that's that," she mutters under her breath. Time to attend to all the other things she's been neglecting. It's pretty much all left to Zero or whomever now to see if she did well enough to be hired by NESTS.

COMBATSYS: Elle has ended the fight here.
