Tessa - Out for a Strol(l)

Description: Aislinn baits the House into sending someone out to tell her to get off their lawn. Tessa is actually pretty nice about it, but the Silent Assassin still leaves limping.

Strolheim--a place famous for its martial arts--especially when one has access to the kind of information that Aislinn does. It is a legendary place, and it is filled with legendary people. But--it's also -quiet-. Though it is obvious that Krauser, like NESTS, prefers to work behind the scenes, some might say the Strolheim folks have been -too- dormant--of course, Eiji's been running around, but rumors say he was always his own man anyways.

Still, Strolheim may be a threat to NESTS, should NESTS's plans be outed. And thusly, NESTS should get an idea of Strolheim's relative strength. There are any number of ways to do this... but the best is to show up and leave subtle hints about who one is and that there is an interest in the castle. Which Aislinn has been doing; spying, but in a very obvious manner. Almost like she -wants- to be found out...

Eiji has arrived.

Well, that's sort of how Strolheim is supposed to work. They're all about becoming stronger, and the only time they feel it necessary to intervene in most cases is when one starts to make a move that interferes with this. Such as killing off a lot of decent fighters whom they might have one day scouted. Has NESTS been up to anything like that lately? If they have, Tessa has yet to hear of it, and that would be why she hasn't been making her presence all that known to them. Her interest is more with the Syndicate, anyway...
However, as long as she's here at the castle, she has certain duties to perform, and those include being one of the first lines of defense. The cannon fodder, as it were. And so she's been sent out by the other security officers to see just what this spy is doing being so blatant in her attempts. It's not like she's being forced, though. She always jumps at the chance to prove herself to the rest of the House, and Eiji especially.
"Well? Come on out. I'm sure you were expecting me." the Roman calls, unholstering her shield and holding it down at her side.

COMBATSYS: Tessa has started a fight here.

Ah, 'caught'. Aislinn sidles out from her 'hiding place'--which wasn't much of one, really--just off the grounds. The Strolheim Castle will make a beautiful backdrop for this exchange of violence, will it not?

"You are a bit tardy," she notes; the Silent Assassin had been expecting a response sooner. Ah well; perhaps they just don't consider her a threat. In the long view, she isn't, after all; just one cyborg. Noting the shield, Aislinn quirks an eyebrow. It is possibly the most unusual thing she's seen, after all, in her fighting, even taking Mimiru into account. (She hasn't yet seen Naerose fight.)

Aislinn's movement is swift and smooth; she is barely out and facing Tessa before she's attacking, taking several steps forward before hopping off her front leg and putting her momentum into a twisting side kick aimed to hopefully get past that shield.

COMBATSYS: Tessa dodges Aislinn's Medium Kick.

"Well, my apologies. Spying from this far out isn't seen as some great offense where we're concerned. Was there some more pressing matter you came to attend to, expecting an immediate audience? Most people waltz right up and knock when such is the case. I did."
Yes, if anything she talks a lot, which probably seems like quite a boon to someone gathering information the way Aislinn is. Just keep in mind, that's part of Tessa's job as well, and she's well aware of the things she is and isn't supposed to divulge. Not that... Strolheim has a whole lot to hide. They're not a criminal organization, like most factions are.
"Ah, that's good form!" the woman remarks as she hops aside of the kick that's thrown her way. The shield doesn't really come into it as she raises it up high for a moment and only sets it back into a guarding position after she's off to Aislinn's flank and ready to strike back. Which, she seems to feel like doing with what looks like a simple charge. It's not quite so predictable as it looks, though, as she's aiming to check the lavender-haired girl in the side rather than slam into her head on with the silvery disc.

COMBATSYS: Tessa successfully hits Aislinn with Sideswipe.

Nngh. The damage isn't too bad--but the impact was certainly solid. Aislinn hisses as she's shield-checked, slammed off her feet and sent flying a good number of yards; however, she plants her feet a little bit after and rubs her side. That hurt, despite the fact that it didn't do -that- much damage; not something Aislinn wants to feel again. This could get messy.

Sadly, Aislinn isn't much given to talking while she fights, in general; though she's been loosening up about this, it's still pretty much true.

"Had I just walked up to the door I would have looked silly," she comments, as she sets herself, before springing forward, both fists clasped together and thrust forward in a double-fisted straight punch. Aislinn is practically flying at ground effect, the punch only coming as she nears Tessa; rather like the famous Burn Knuckle, or at least a variant of such.

COMBATSYS: Tessa blocks Aislinn's Sniper Thrust.

Aislinn          0/-------/----===|==-----\-------\0            Tessa

Tessa still has her shield up, so she's in prime position for defending at this point, not even having to turn because it's all part of her form to end an attack facing the enemy. She's not the cocky sort that would stand there and gloat over a downed opponent, and this early it's not like they'd stay down for more than a few seconds anyway.
"That may be somewhat true, but I should think it's better than standing out here waiting all night. You're lucky I came out to play." *tink*
Whatever the shield is made of, it's pretty solid stuff, as Aislinn can see when her fists slam into it. However, it does vibrate somewhat, and this carries through to the Strolheim woman's arm enough that she wants to shake it out a bit afterward. Though while it's out there, she also decides to try and grab the front of the NESTS fighter's outfit and pull her into a short over-the-shoulder throw.

COMBATSYS: Aislinn dodges Tessa's Quick Throw.

[     \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\  < >  ///////////////////////////   ]
Aislinn          0/-------/----===|==-----\-------\0            Tessa

The evasion is pretty simple; Aislinn simply leans back and lets the grab whiff. That -is- a pretty solid shield; Aislinn isn't terribly liking her chances at 'pure' hand to hand. But... eh. That's why she doesn't do just hand to hand. As Tessa's grab whiffs, suddenly Aislinn is reaching for those grabbing hands, herself... while she's no pro at throwing she can do it, too. And she would like to see Tessa on her back.

If she makes contact, she'll pull forward and fall to her back, while planting her right leg in Tessa's stomach and heaving her overhead. And that foot flares with red-white electrical energy that, on contact, would surge through Tessa.

"I don't mind the cold," she replies, somewhat belatedly, and matter of factly.

COMBATSYS: Tessa stops Quick Throw from Aislinn with Starry Gleam.

[     \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\  < >  //////////////////////////    ]
Aislinn          0/-------/----===|==-----\-------\0            Tessa

Having overextended herself a bit to try for that grab at Aislinn's collar, Tessa's left pretty open and almost gets herself thrown. Almost.
Her hands are grabbed and she's pulled forward, but by the point Aislinn is down on her back the tattooed Italian can see what's coming and wrenches her shield-arm enough to jam the rounded thing down between herself and the would-be spy enough to stop the foot from coming up. And there's some silvery-white energy that flares up and begins to shimmer off of the disc as well, but, it's canceled out by the red-and-white of Aislinn's just before Tessa goes rolling off to one side and breaking free.
"The cold? I just figured you were bored out here, calling me late and everything."

So far, Tessa has denied her attacks spectacularly. This doesn't really bother Aislinn too much... the fight's still early. Aislinn rolls to her left and rises to her feet once more, brushing a bit of dirt off her clothing; this is a crafty one. She hadn't expected Tessa to stop her attack like that.

This bears thinking about--which is why Aislinn stops to consider Tessa, looking her over more closely.

"I don't get bored," she replies... a little ironically. She doesn't get bored because she already -is- bored... it's a confusing thing to be sure. The pause is lengthened, Aislinn settling into her stance, clearing her mind...

COMBATSYS: Aislinn focuses on her next action.

The shieldmaiden gives an almost skeptical look then, appraising that apathetic look the NESTS girl has about her and finally giving a little shrug. "If you say so. I'm not really trying to figure you out, I just still don't quite get why it matters how quick I came out to meet you. You're a strange one. And I suppose you don't want to tell me just who you're out here spying *for*?"
She didn't really have any guesses, yet. Again, NESTS isn't an organization she thinks an awful lot about. The rest of Strolheim security might know who Aislinn is, but Tess sure doesn't.
In any case, though, when Aislinn takes that long pause after speaking Tessa begins to get a bit antsy, herself, and decides to see just how fast Aislinn can react to a blazing-fast point of light sent out from the contact one of her chrome bracers makes hitting under the edge of her shield.

COMBATSYS: Tessa successfully hits Aislinn with Shinespark.

... the answer is, not very well. But the point of light... even though it hits dead-center, Aislinn seems unmoved by it. In fact she almost seems surprised by it. It's enough to give her pause for a moment. And her expression remains mild, though her voice carries a small, dangerous edge.

"... was that some sort of joke?" she asks, softly. She doesn't take well to people trying to play her for a fool. Once again she advances on Tessa--she is, generally, a very straight-line fighter, and the closest point between A (her) and B (Tessa) is still a straight line. As she closes, she turns her left side towards Tessa, then plants her left foot; using it as a fulcrum she throws all her weight and momentum into an arcing overhead smash punch with her right, the air practically whistling with the built-up power.

COMBATSYS: Tessa dodges Aislinn's Fierce Punch.

Tessa shakes her head a bit. "Not at all. It's just banter and it should be taken as such. But if you want to make something more of it that's your choice. Interesting seeing you show a little more liveliness though!"
There's not time to say much else before Aislinn advances and starts to swing that fist down, prompting the Roman to leap to one side of it and out of its path. She's not quite as much for the straight lines, and in this case she'd actually rather circle around back and try to chop at the younger girl's neck with the edge of her shield.

COMBATSYS: Aislinn counters Weapon Jab from Tessa with Brutal Hammer.

[        \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\  < >  ////////////////////          ]
Aislinn          0/-------/-======|======-\-------\0            Tessa

Though it may seem that Aislinn's punch is a big-windup, big-recovery attack... the moment she misses, Aislinn is sliding her right foot forward, absorbing and stopping momentum, and reversing herself as Tessa wheels around. As the Roman steps in with the chop at her neck... she'll suddenly find that Aislinn's moved forward, cutting off the range of motion.

And in the same instant she's cleared the attack, she cradles Tessa at the back of her head--and pulls forward, smashing her forehead into Tessa's face at the same time, thrusting her head forward with the followup, then dancing back a couple of steps.

"I see. I will not try to keep up with your banter," she says, softly, in reply--admission that she just isn't the right type to be witty.

Tessa looks surprised from the very start, so it's not like the sudden headbutt to the face is what puts that wide-eyed expression her face. It was more the unexpected turn that led to her being cut off in the middle of trying to strafe around to Aislinn's rear.
There's a brief grunt, and the Roman is left looking dazed a moment after being dropped by the attack. She doesn't end up entirely on her back, however. She only falls on her rump and ends up holding the bridge of her nose. "Oookay. So does that mean I'm gonna be talking to myself now? You're not even going to bother paying attention? Kinda rude."

COMBATSYS: Tessa gains composure.

Aislinn          0/-------/-======|=====--\-------\0            Tessa

Aislinn raises an eyebrow. "I told you I'm not much for small talk," she replies, and that should be that. It isn't rudeness--just that Aislinn isn't very good at it. However, even with Tessa on her rump, Aislinn is not about to let Tessa have another chance. It isn't what she normally does, but she does rumble forward.. then lunges.

Her goal, in this case, is to wrap Tessa up in her arms--preferably around the neck--and squeeze, hard, a few times, before letting go. Not something she does normally, of course... but something she'll try.

COMBATSYS: Tessa blocks Aislinn's Medium Throw.

Tessa is more than ready to pop herself back up to her feet, though, and she brings her shield with her, to put in in the way of both Aislinn's grabby hands. However, part of her arm is still exposed while she's got the disc itself up, and there's nothing stopping the girl from grabbing that. It just, doesn't hurt that much, is all.
"Right, I got that. But I like to talk, and I'd like to think you're still going to respond even if I'm not saying something altogether profound. But whatever, I guess we can just move along for now."
She's not particularly tired just yet, but she is starting to see this as pretty slow-going. Things are too even and someone is going to have to take a gamble for it to have to go anywhere. And so, the Roman decides it may as well be her. She throws her shield, from close range, which she is not quite as used to doing. There's no time to put a spin on it to ensure that it will even come back to her. "Hngh!"

COMBATSYS: Tessa successfully hits Aislinn with Large Thrown Object.

It may come back; it impacts solidly and sends Aislinn reeling. She'd tried to avoid it but it was just too close-range for her. The fight isn't -dragging-... but it is taking a while. Perhaps these two are just too analytical; surely Shenwoo and M. Bison fight at a much faster pace just by being totally crazy.

Aislinn staggers back, wiping at a trickle of blood from her mouth... apparently she got caught by the edge somehow.

Heedless of the fact that she just got blown back, she's on the attack, again, seeking to close the distance with a leaping, flying side-kick much like a karateka might throw; her kicking leg is almost parallel to the ground, aimed for Tessa's face.

COMBATSYS: Tessa blocks Aislinn's Medium Kick.

Aislinn          1/------=/=======|=======\-------\0            Tessa

From that close-in, it's not that much trouble to catch the shield again after it bounces off of Aislinn, true. It's just a little awkward because by all rights it felt to Tessa like she was pretty much throwing it away for the rest of the match. She's always afraid someone is going to end up knocking it out of her hands and then stonewall her from making her way back to it.
With it safely in hand again, though, the Roman again deflects another kick from Aislinn and then lowers it to just below her eyes so that she can peer out over the rim. "Hmm... "

COMBATSYS: Tessa focuses on her next action.

Once again she finds herself rebounding off that shield. It is quite an annoyance, though Aislinn can't say that it's been the deciding factor so far... still. Aislinn crouches, sweeping up a few rounded stones from the ground; as she rises she draws her left arm back, then sweeps it forward, back, and forward again.

Each sweep of the arm flings a stone; one for Tessa's head, one for her legs, and one to rebound off the ground and hopefully come in at an angle that is worrisome enough to force Tessa into some hard defensive choices.

Aislinn's eyes speak what her voice won't; they're sharpening, as she pays more attention to the fight.

COMBATSYS: Tessa full-parries Aislinn's Thrown Object!

[           \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\  < >  ////////////////////          ]
Aislinn          1/------=/=======|=======\=------\1            Tessa

There is just one other thing that Aislinn might find pretty annoying beyond the shield itself, and it kind of makes the way that Tessa clings to her shield seem a little silly as well. It's those metal bracelets that she wears on either wrist. Up until now she's only used one to spark off a small projectile, but the moment those stones are thrown her way she uses them to do something quite a bit more impressive. Something very... Wonder Woman.
The decorated silver disc is placed between her thighs for a moment, and she deals with each seperate rock with a swipe of her tensed forearms, making them ricochet right off of the metal bangles like tiny little bullets. "Okay I... I feel better now. That always makes my night."
Rolling her shoulders back then, the tall Roman lady picks her shield up once more and turns back at the waist with it like a discus thrower at the Olympics before hurling it at Aislinn, this time complete with the spin and the whole nine yards. "You're enjoying this too, right? I mean, you said you never get bored!"

Struck once again. Aislinn is taking the bad end of this fight all over, and well--no, she's not enjoying it, thank you for asking. Her expression remains as flat as ever, her emotions fuelling her completely internally. Once again, she acts as if there were no distance between Tessa and herself; she simply gets right to it, running across the intervening distance and coming up with a big forward kick from her right leg, her toe actually dragging across the ground for a moment before she snaps it forward with all the power she can muster.

Of course she tries to add a little extra to it as well, in the form of her chi, blazing into a crackling aura around her kicking foot.

Aislinn          2/<<<<<<</<<<<<<<|=====--\-------\0            Tessa

Tessa actually starts falling back *before Aislinn snaps that kick out to try and drop her, so that while she is struck pretty squarely, she's able to roll with it and carry herself into a cartwheel. True, she's at first going completely the wrong way, but she turns that around and comes right back with a couple of backflips and finally a high somersault which carries her up over the Silent Assassin's head, whereupon she brings first the heels of her nice Italian shoes down on her and then follows with the front of her shield. How she's able to keep from looking dizzy after so many revolutions is really anyone's guess, but she's able to land afterward without so much as a wobble and take her shield-forward stance once again without any trouble.
"Got quite a lot of chi, don't you? I still felt that." Now, what she *wants* to ask here, is 'Ready to talk yet?' but she's holding her tongue at least on that point.

To put it mildly, Aislinn is -hurting-. She's pounded into the dirt in a convincing manner and well... well, it was definitely some serious pain. There's a little snarl, as the Silent Assassin picks herself up off the ground... she can't no-sell this, her body is broken in a couple places. Not so bad it can't be fixed but she is not operating at her peak. There is a small hiss from her lips, her eyes burning brighter than they have throughout the entire fight. And then energy is flaring around her, her anger taking physical form as she subsumes it, red-white energy flickering over her body in crackles of lightning.

Yes, she has 'a little chi'... enough that she can overflow with it, at times like this. She's trying, very desperately, not to show how pained she is.

COMBATSYS: Aislinn gathers her will.

Aislinn          2/<<<<<<</<<<<<<<|=====--\-------\0            Tessa

Tessa is no stranger to chi, herself. She has quite a lot of it and she just chooses to put it to uses other than straight offense. It's always running through her body, and surrounding her as an invisible (to most) aura. But even if she did use it more in the way Aislinn does, there'd still not be much contest. That's a huge amount of energy, and it makes even the shieldmaiden want to back up a bit and think before rushing in to try and interrupt the younger girl's little power-up.
Yeah, she'll send a spark in instead and hope it breaks Aislinn's concentration.

... once again, that little spark impacts Aislinn... and even though she's not terribly damaged by it, it isn't going to take much to finish her off. But she's going to make Tessa work for it as much as possible. Again, she ignores the distance; she is knocked back a couple of steps and that puts her in range of a convieniently-placed table--an old, rotten one that people put out to throw away. Aislinn will throw it away for them--right at Tessa. Of course she got owned by the last time she did something like this, but practice makes perfect, right? Even though she's heaving-hoing with a big old table.. she still doesn't make a sound. Creepy.

Tessa only ever uses that attack as a distraction, as she knows the damage is negligible. But again, with her chi already being used for other purposes, diverting it elsewhere takes quite a bit out of her, and using anymore than she just did is pretty much out of the question.
In fact, the Roman is actually getting pretty tired by this point, and in contrast to Aislinn is panting somewhat noticeably. In addition, while it would have been way more advantageous for her to dodge that, she took the more reliable option just to be on the safe side, and also to give her a little more time to make ready. One doesn't simply charge up with that much chi and then use it to throw a table. "I'm not stupid, you know. Why don't you just blast me already? Like I'd just walk up to you and let you shoot me point blank... "

... fine. So Tessa wants to just end it, does she? Then Aislinn will give her that chance. The glow surrounding Aislinn suddenly shuts off. No, it doesn't shut off. It is subsumed back into her body. All the chi making her glow is brought in internally, and there is a long, interminable moment where Aislinn's cybernetics are storing, processing, and altering the flow of her chi. Her eyes even close. And then... then she opens them.

She opens her eyes... and then she's lunging forward, far faster than she had moved at all in this fight, blurring forward as she rushes for Tessa, her hands grasping for the girl's throat.

When Aislinn's hands grasp Tessa's throat she doesn't crush, or squeeze. She lifts Tessa off the ground and keeps going until she pounds Tessa's back into a nearby wall. But she isn't done there. Quick as a flash, Aislinn's hands drop, her feet spread a bit wider, and she takes up a boxing stance. Then she begins to fire rapid body blows into Tessa's stomach, hammering her again and again, alternating fists, for a good ten to fifteen seconds. Finally she lands her last body blow and uses the momentum to drift back a few feet--only to set her feet as she touches down and lunge forward with a dashing double-fist punch like the one that bounced off of Tessa's shield earlier.

And despite her generally unwillingness to talk, in the aftermath her voice -can- be heard.

"Are you at least enjoying this?"

More or less, yeah. As earlier stated, Tessa had had her fun already. She wasn't in any great hurry, but seeing as her boss happens to be a ninja, he'd probably complain every bit as much if she took *too* long out here as he would if she just straight up lost. And by that reasoning, she could have just rushed in recklessly and got hit with the Ban Hammer, but you know, she's more confident in her ability to block than to attack anyway.
A fat lot of good it does her here, but at least she tried. Aislinn is faster than her shield, and as she's forced back against a wall from some house in the nearby village, she even loses her hold on her shield just before getting pummeled. No, the only thing that saved her here for even a moment longer is her overall constitution. She's healthy and athletic, and she's just strong enough to drag herself back out of the crater she made in the wall and bring her own fists up to try and return some of those punches. Not nearly as *many*, of course, but they're her heaviest, and they're charged with probably the last of her sterling silver chi. "Oh yeah! I was hoping for a challenge and you provided an excellent one. I wasn't sure if you could even it up for a moment there but... here we are." She calls back, bloodied and bruised at least as much as Aislinn, but somehow still hanging on and springing forward into six different kinds of Hapkido hand-strikes, which are mostly straight punches and overheads, one or two being chops.

... this is... THE END...!

...at least for Aislinn. She's left with no choice but to try and counter Tessa's attack; it's too fast to get around, particularly with the combined strikes, and where Aislinn would normally just tank the attack, she's far too weak for that. But that self-same speed that keeps Ais from dodging also makes her too slow on the counter; she gets her arms in the way but they're battered aside and Aislinn is struck each time.

She staggers back and gasps, finally, the last burst of pain too much to be stoic about. And ... she drops her arms.

Tessa gets a long, long look.

"It's too bad," Aislinn murmurs, softly, before turning to limp away.

"Thank you for the showing."

Tessa gives a little salute, and makes no move to stop the NESTS agent when she turns to leave, with no fight left in her. After all, Tessa still has no idea who she is or what her affiliations are.
"...hn? What is?" she asks, looking a bit confused, but in the end just shrugging it off and nodding once. "No problem. Have a good night." she says before scooping up her fallen shield and attaching it to her back before turning back for the castle.
