Neo League 376 - #376: Yang vs Ingrid

Description: Yang faces his second magical girl in a row as he squares off against Ingrid in Metro City. She keeps things hot, but the Twin Dragon prevails again! (Winner: Yang)

A location completely unlike one Ingrid had been in earlier this week, there is a Neo League match set to occur in an old abandoned skyscraper in Metro City. Some of the lower levels are just plain trashed, but the level they're on is about halfway up the building, and in much better condition. Simply dusty and dirty with cobwebs here and there. It may not be an ideal location, but it's about the best place the skyscraper has. The roof may provide more room, but a fall from such a height could easily prove deadly.

Ingrid is here early, as is somewhat usual for her in these circumstance, and has been speaking with the camera and sound techs as they finalized setting things up. One of the best parts about fighting in place like this; there's no need to repair it if it gets trashed. Not that Ingrid is an especially destructive fighter, but it's still nice to know that there's no reason to hold back due to location. She's informed that the scheduled time for the match is quickly approaching, and she walks over to the center of the room, where the cameras have the best angles, and waits for her opponent to show up.

Another day, another high-rise fight. Yang huffs and and he puffs a little, but he does make it up the creaky and totally unsafe stairs to make it to the assigned floor. "Next time, I'm fighting in a basement," he sighs to himself with a quick wipe of sweat from his brow. Gotta look calm and ready for the cameras, yo.
Of course, another day, another fancy-dressed young lady as his opponent. There's a surprised uptick to the Lee brother's brow once he spies Ingrid, and he takes a quick look around the area to make sure the only other people are the film crew. "I already fought Yurika, is it OK if I fight another young girl?" He cautiously asks nobody in particular, perhaps in case Ken Masters himself is hiding in the shadows like a red gi-clad Alan Funt.

COMBATSYS: Yang has started a fight here on the left meter side.

It's highly unlikely that Ken is going to jump out and attack, especially since it would be an equal surprise to Ingrid. She looks Yang over quickly and then smiles, "Good afternoon." A pause, "You say you fought Yurika? I have as well, only a few days ago, it was a lovely match." Yurika, unfortunately, did well in the opening blows but couldn't recover after being struck. "We'll all have fought one another, interesting, don't you think?" She moves closer to him, stopping at a decent distance to begin the match at. "I'm ready to begin, if you are." She drops into an easy stance, arms held at her sides with her body swaying lightly.

"Ah, so you beat her too," Yang answers with an understanding nod. Mental Note: Check cable listings and see if its not too late to TiVO that match. "Yes, very interesting," he adds as he calmly slides his fingers through his spiky locks. A quick slide into his ready crouch later, and the Twin Dragon starts swaying his own balance from one foot to the other.
Only for a moment though, as Yang swiftly steps forward towards the young girl with his arms raised, and he intones a quiet "If you don't mind" before punching his fingers forward in a serpent strike. Or what would be called a five-fingered poke if you're more accustomed to Stooge-Fu, nyuknyuk.

COMBATSYS: Yang successfully hits Ingrid with Quick Punch.

As she normally does, Ingrid attempts to get out of the way of the attack that Yang sends her way. His sliding stance and maneuvers are too quick for her, though, and the fingered punch hits her cleanly, sending her stumbling back a short ways. "Impressive." She then nods her head, continuing the conversation, "Yes, I did beat her. It looked like I might lose at the beginning, but I managed to pull through." It may seem odd that she's just going to stand around and talk, but that's just how she fights. She's attentive, and would much rather get a handle on her opponent than rush in and strike right away, as Yang just did.

COMBATSYS: Ingrid focuses on her next action.

Yang's attentive and contemplative and quiet too, which he shows by not taking the opportunity to strike again. Yurika nearly abused him enough for a draw, he's not ready to take too many risks again this time around. "Yeah, she's a tough opponent," he notes as he bounces from one sneaker to the other. "I didn't even know you could do half the things she did with a violin." Like make energy-blast musical notes. What the heck.

Ingrid nods her head, "If I hadn't seen her do it before, I would have become rather confused when I fought her. She's a very capable violinist; it's rather exceptional of her to be able use her musical talent and turn it into fighting prowess." She reaches up and brushes her hair back behind her ear. Ingrid wouldn't gain anything by simply standing around again, so she makes her move. But rather than do something like send a punch or kick at Yang, she swings her arm in an underhand motion, a sparkling trail following her hand, and lobs a large ball of golden energy at him, shining with power. It floats up in an arc and then down in the same manner, coming at him from above.

COMBATSYS: Yang interrupts Sun Shot from Ingrid with Zenpou Tenshin.

The problem with waiting and watching is that you're exposing yourself to giving the other side the advantage. "True, I can only do so much with my own ha- ack." There's a moment of shock at the sun bomb, but that passes quickly as a counter-plan forms in his head. "I can't do that either," he grunts as he dashes through the falling shot. The hit is tanked with another grunt, but he just keeps moving, grabbing Ingrid by the shoulders and flipping himself over her to finish with a kick to the small of her back. "But I have my own ways."

Ingrid hasn't had anyone do something quite like that before; bull right through her Sun Shot and then smack her before she can begin to recover. She's at his mercy, and he leaps over and then she's kicked. There's a gasp of pain from her as she is hit, falling to the ground, but once she impacts she rolls backwards and away from him and picks herself up quickly. She seems to be trying to go about this fight very strategically. "I can see that. I'm definitely impressed with what I've seen so far." Rather than attacking, she again holds back, this time to gather a bit of strength after being hit. A war of attrition? Perhaps.

COMBATSYS: Ingrid gains composure.

Hey, it worked! Yang doesn't celebrate, though, as the Zenpou Tenshin is handy for countering the next strike... Which never comes. Huh. "Thank you," the boy bows appreciatively once he sees the coast is clear. Another pause is considered, then quickly dismissed. He might be calm and quiet, but this student of Gen isn't one to pass up open shots or opportunities to retake the initiative! A flash, a spin on his heel, and a quick strike to the shoulder are on the menu. No hits to the head, he'd rather not give her a black eye.

Ingrid had hung back for a reason, of course. Not only is she recuperating herself, she's also forcing him to take the initiative, if he will. It seems that he's going to and so she mentally prepares herself. When he spins on his heel she quickly bends forward and points. A disk of swirling energy forms in front of her, but the kick comes in before it can completely form, what would normally be solid energy being completely passable, the kick landing on her shoulder and sending her stumbling, and finally falling, backwards. She picks herself up and lets out a little laugh. "Oops. I seem to have miscalculated a little there."

"It... happens." Yang's enough of a gentleman not to chuckle or take advantage of the stumble, though he's wary enough not to help her up either. Sorry! He'll just take this time to step back and take a quick breath while she gets up. If its a war of attrition she wants, well, she picked the right Twin Dragon for it! Yang's not even thinking of the fight's ratings tanking while they pause...

COMBATSYS: Yang gains composure.

Ingrid nods her head slightly. "Oh, I understand. I took a risk and it happened to be at a poor moment. Don't worry, I'm sure I'll manage to recover, somehow." But now with Yang being the one taking the momentary breather, she's going to be forced onto the offensive. She quickly rushes at him jumping up into the air and trying to land behind him, and then quickly whirls about and tries to grab him by his arms, trying to get them both behind him before twisting around and swinging her arms to the side in an attempt to throw him to the ground.

COMBATSYS: Ingrid successfully hits Yang with Quick Throw.

She surprised him. Yang had totally prepared himself for yet another energy attack, and the nice young lady tosses him around like a sack of potatoes. "Whoa!" Very nice! But not enough to keep this Twin Dragon down as he rolls back upright and lashes out at Ingrid's feet with a long leg sweep. Now they're building a rhythm...

If a rhythm is being built of trading blows, Ingrid completely shatters it with her reaction to the leg sweep. The moment he begins the attack, a flash of energy surrounds her. She then leans forward and points as she did before, a small triangle of energy forming, and then in front of it a large disk of energy easily as large as Ingrid is herself forms around Yang. It holds him solidly in place, freezing him in his current position, and then lifts him up into the air, searing at him as he rises. While he does, Ingrid leans backwards and gives him a two fingered salute, a little joke of hers. Of course he can only rise as high as the ceiling in the building, so he's held there for a while being torn at by the psychic energy, and then he's dropped. Ingrid raises her hands up and gathers another burst of energy, and then quickly holds her arms out, palms towards him as he falls. A huge symbol of the Eternal Goddess forms in the air with her energy, assaulting him one more time before he's allowed to drop to the ground.

In a word: "Ow."

Its at this point as Yang drags himself up off the natty office-standard carpet that he starts to think he just /might/ be in over his head here. Just what in the name of Fei Long was all that? Lee didn't raise no quitter, though, and as soon as all the little winged Ingrids stop floating around his head, he's back on his feet and ready for more! Hitting that is, not getting pan-fried. "That... just... ow." And as a show of his own focused chi power, there's a glow in the Twin Dragon's hand as he chops a slash across her midsection, leaving a glowing trail in its wake.

Ingrid smiles lightly; it's of the consolatory sort. One moment he had her in a pickle, and the next she'd unleashed her most powerful attack and completely turned the tables on him. She's had that sort of thing happen to her before, and it's not the most pleasant feeling. She stays where she is, waiting for him to come in and attack, figuring that he'll be trying to turn the tables on her right back again. Except, she's ready for it. The moment he begins to move, so does she, rushing in closer to him rather than away. The chop comes at her, and she neatly grabs him by the wrist, applying just enough pressure to send it past her. She then, in the same motion, raises her hands above her head and pushes them down and forward, unleashing a large stream of glittering energy at him, enough to completely immerse him if he's not careful.

COMBATSYS: Yang blocks Ingrid's Sunbeam EX.

With the situation going from bad to worse, Yang finds himself relying on the basics: Once he finds himself targetted again, he crosses arms and shields himself behind his golden armguards. Its not terribly effective, but its just enough to keep him from falling over just yet. Any sense of levity is gone, the Twin Dragon's frown is deep as he knows he's getting schooled in just his second big match. "Not good." He still has plenty of strength, enough so that he can suitably leap high enough to nearly crash through the ceiling, then suddenly switch momentum so that the resulting diving kick goes straight for Ingrid. Hello there!

So far Ingrid's tried to get out of the way of attacks and reverse them, so this time she raises her arms up sideways in front of her and tries to catch the leg on them as he comes down. Which is, to say the least, exactly the wrong thing to do. The foot simply slides between her arms and smashes into her chest, sending her flinging back with incredible force. She hits some old furniture, and then just seems to keep going, hitting the ground once more and rolling away from Yang. She winces in pain, and then reaches down in front of herself, pushing on the ground and slowly picking herself up off of it. She inhales deeply and then rights herself. "That was an impressive technique."

She's got to keep her wits about herself. Allowing him to simply take the initiative isn't a wise choice, but she doesn't want to rush right in either. She compromises, reaching over and picking up a shattered piece of desk and flinging it at him.

"I was taught by the best," Yang acknowledges with a respectful bow. Ingrid's attempt to interrupt his reverence for Lee and Gen is duly ignored with the ching of formica bouncing off of metal. He lowers his armguards as desk parts go flying out a window, and fires off an honorable and emotionless "Thank you" just as he closes the distance in a quick dash. He's waited and built-up his momentum long enough, now its time to unleash the powah! The Twin Dragon's hand raises and - almost disappears. The flurry of spears and serpent throats fly for the girl's throat nearly faster than the naked eye. Even if he doesn't crush it she'll still be needing cough drops for a week if they land!

Ingrid realizes that she's in a bit of trouble as Yang comes rushing in at her. The odds are that she isn't going to be able to dodge or even block such an attack, so she decides it's best to go for everything and try a reversal maneuver. She crouches down low, and then reaches out in front of her and points once more, another little disk of energy forming in front of her. This time, however, it's not going to prove effective, even though this is what the maneuver was created for. The blows begin even before the disk starts to form, though it still does behind the action. All the attacks land perfectly, exactly as they're supposed to, smacking into her throat sending her flying back again. This time, however, she doesn't look like she's going to be getting up and fighting again. She sits up slowly and smiles weakly at Yang. "Very well done."

Its over? Again? Yang blinks, stupefied, as he's still in his crouch. It takes a moment for the situation to sink in, and slowly he stands up and clasps his hands together. "Thank you again," he bows deeply, like any good fighter would. Yang 2, Girls 0. He'll probably draw Vega or Balrog next, now that he's getting some notoriety. And since the fight is over, he can now do the gentlemanly thing and offer a hand to help Ingrid back to her feet with a timid grin. "Your powers are really amazing."

Not being one to hold a grudge, Ingrid accepts the hand gratefully and allows herself to be helped to her feet, wiping a bit of dust off of herself that she got while laying on the floor. "Thank you as well, it was a thrilling fight." She then smiles warmly, "I'm glad you think so. I've worked very hard to develop them to the point they're at now. It's taken a lot of hard work and effort, but I feel I'm better for it."

"Yeah, me 'n Yun have trained hard on our own styles, but.... it isn't nearly as impressive as that." Sure Yang can pull off the occasional chi blast, but their style is mostly physical - as demonstrated. "Magic's over our heads." Now time for a long awkward pause as Yang the kempo master makes way for Yang the socially uncomfortable. "Er..."

Ingrid nods her head a little. "It's impressive in it's own way. If might not be as flashy, but it's clearly just as effective. I'd say the most important part of a style is making it your own, however. If you can do that than I'm sure you're going to succeed, in the end." She then laughs a little, "And it's not exactly magic, though what I use is a fair bit different from what you do, you may have noticed."

Yang's still searching for something to say when he's saved by one of the production crew. "We really need to wrap it up like right now before the floor collapses or Mad Gear arrives or Mad Gear arrives and the floor collapses." Indeed, the TV production crew is already packed up and booking for the staircase. The young Twin Dragon frowns uncomfortably then shrugs with a sigh, "I guess it can't be helped." He does, however, help Ingrid down the stairs if she needs the assistance - even if he's still out of words.
