Neo League 351 - #373: Yang vs Yurika

Description: Yang's first League fight finds him atop the CN Tower duelling the elegant Yurika. The quieter Lee brother weathers a musical storm, wins the fight, and makes a new friend. Aww. (Winner: Yang)

The whole Join The League And See The World was Yang's idea, so it makes sense that the smarter of the Lee brothers would also kick off their new fighting career. He'll show Yun just who the better fighter is, and he'll start off by squaring off against Yurika. Yang didn't have any problems with fighting a young woman, girls can be just as tough and vicious as boys, after all. That she fought in petticoats and with a violin... OK, that may be a little odd. Still, a fight's a fight and this dragon's willing to take whatever exposure he can get!
Yang's definitely in luck tonight, as he's starting from the top - the top level of the CN Tower, that is. Its enclosed, so there won't be any last steps being a doozie, but its still a nice exotic location for a fight night. The spikier-haired of the Lee brothers is already there, dressed in his usual sleeveless shirt and baggy trousers, with his hands held behind his back as he gazes thoughtfully out over the Canadian horizon. "I wonder if you really can see Montreal from here..."

Yurika isn't in the league for the reason of exposure, and not even for the love to fight. She'd found it as a useful little tool for her own personal gain so it's then that it wouldn't be any suprise to her friends that she's stuck with the League, despite not being overly fond of its rules.
And she's presented with a new opponent this week, it'd seem she's getting all the young ones- Which she certainly can't complain about, given her mission.
Yang is greeted by an unfamiliar voice, "Not likely, without the use of binoculars," Yurika answers, standing perhaps uncomfortably close to Yun's back, mysterious little smile on her features, "But then again, that may be the case if you wanted to at least see some detail rather than none. Good day, I am Yurika Kirishima." if she scared the pants off of Yang or not, the girl takes a step back, surely enough clad in her light-blue school uniform, a white mantle settled on her shoulders and of course violin in hand. A curtsie follows, "A pleasure to meet you, I will be your opponent. Unless, you have changed your mind." It's Yang's last chance to run away!

His pants do seem baggy enough that he could leap right out of them. However, he's been trained by Gen, so Yang knows enough of having people ninja right behind him that he takes it all in calm style. (A more perceptive observer may notice the slight twitch to his eyebrow though. Ninjas Bad.) "A pleasure indeed," he responds with a graceful bow in kind. "I'm Yang Lee. And no, I haven't, though I may regret it later." One way or another. Damn shame he has to chop someone this demure, and an even worse shame if she does the same to him. Ah well. "I guess the proper words would be 'Shall we dance?'"

COMBATSYS: Yang has started a fight here on the left meter side.

And as luck would have it, Yurika just so happens to be a 'more perceptive' observer. But she won't simply be observing for long. She also doesn' have a good enough eye to really tell much about her opponent other than he's chinese and probably uses kung-fu.
Though pretty much anyone could guess that.
But Yang can see that Yurika is impressed by Yang's mannerisms, if the, "Oh my," didn't give it away otherwise, the hand holding her bow raises to her instrument, plucking it a few times as she adjusts the instrument, "Those words will do quite well, I'll leave it to you to lead, then." though she does take one more step back- She doesn't want to give Yang toooo much of a starting edge!

COMBATSYS: Yurika has joined the fight here on the right meter side.

Hey, she's a nice and, dare we say it, 'fancy' young girl. Yang may not know about playing to a crowd, but he can at least play nice to his opponent! Even if he's almost positive that violin's lined with lead. He knows enough of the Howard Fine & Howard School of Martial Arts to believe that's totally not a Stradivarius she's holding there. In fact, to test that theory, just as soon as he bows again and bounces back into a light-footed stance, he thrusts forward with a lighting quick kick to the girl's chest. If she blocks with the instrument, he'll know for sure.

COMBATSYS: Yang successfully hits Yurika with Light Kick.

Yurika would be quite pleased to hear Yangs thoughts. But alas, she isn't a psychic of any sort. But her pleasent expression hasn't shifted a bit, even if in a way it's a little creepy. The light footed stance is noted, as her own isn't anything special at all, simply standing in place which doesn't seem to put her in a good position to defend the kick.
It's very quick, before she can even move her arm it meets it's mark causing her to stagger back with a small yelp of suprise. Which arm was she going to move? It's hard to say, but it's the gloved hand with the bow that strikes back, Yurika sweeping forward and attempts to slash across Yangs chest as if she were brandishing a fencing sword. Trailing the tip of her weapon is a blurr of musical notes and bars. The second strike is a swipe in the opposite direction, which instead of a slash is a smash right at the boys knee to hopefully sweep him right off of his feet, "Hah!"

COMBATSYS: Yurika successfully hits Yang with Tragic Hesitation.

Yang is a man of few words, alas, so most of his thoughts wind up kept to himself. He's also a man of quick moves and fast parries, though none of that helps when Yurika's quicker and faster on the draw. He does "Augh!" nicely while being dumped on his rear, however! It may take more than that to keep him down, as the muscular teenager bounces right back to his feet and notes, "I never knew music could be so painful."
Ah, if only he knew the Numa Numa song.
What he does know is crazy Fei Long stuff. Such as bolting forward in a giant leap and dropping the heel of his sneaker at his pretty pretty opponent. The funky chi stuff can wait for later, he's still warming up.

COMBATSYS: Yang successfully hits Yurika with Raigeki Shuu.

Yurika can't hide her amusement, she giggles lightly to Yang, bow-equipped hand to her lips as she nods her head to Yun, "Well, just because it's pleasent to ones ears doesn't mean it has to be elsewhere," she replies, swaying just slightly as she tries to get a good rythem of this match. It's still a little too soon for her to really get it though, Yang is a quick fellow. Again Yang meets his mark, it would seem the kick landed on her bow swinging arm, causing her to drop to her knee and she winces in pain.
She doesn't recognize the style. But that's old news, "You're good with kicks," she notes aloud, which may give away where she's going to target next. Since she's already crouched, she reaches her bow out to hook the heel of Yangs foot, and if she can, jerks back to make him fall to the floor again. And if that works? She stamps her MaryJane clad foot onto the boys knee.

COMBATSYS: Yang dodges Yurika's Quick Throw.

Stay quick, stay light, that's what he was taught. "Yeah, I guess you could say that," he answers as he deftly hops out of hooking range. He was right, that violin /is/ a dangerous weapon! Does she have a license for it? Hit now, ask questions later. Sensing some sort of rhythm to her moves, the spiky-haired teenager rolls in low to take a chop at the back of Yurika's knee - this time with the side of his hand. No dancing!

COMBATSYS: Yurika dodges Yang's Quick Punch.

Dangerous? Yang hasn't even seen the half of it! But it could be said that yes, that little wooden bow is certainly more dangerous than it looks. What other tricks, then, does the prissy student have in store?
Well first off, Yurika has to avoid getting her own leg damaged, easy enough as she leaps forward, and flips over the boy at the end of his own roll, placing herself behind him, at least for a moment. But she doesn't capitalize on the potential opening, the girl instead prances a couple of steps back and raises the slender weapon to her lips, smile only slightly fading from her lips, and the gaze in her eyes grow slightly more lifeless, "I.. Believe I have underestimated you," she murmurs, "I suppose I'll have to play my song of Regret for you sooner than I would have liked. It's one of my favorites."

COMBATSYS: Yurika focuses on her next action.

"Underestimate?" Yang pops back up into his ready stance, taking but a moment to glance down at himself. "Huh. Maybe being the quiet one does have its benefits." He'd shrug, but instead he opts for a bit of slackjaw as his opponent starts getting scary on him. And then he spies it: Opportunity. Yurika's concentrating on her concerto, leaving her presumably open. Should he:

1. Focus himself, as it could be a trap.
2. Go for another fast strike.
3. Take advantage and drop the Senkyuutai.
4. Put it in.

. . .

A moment of thought and a confident grin later, and Yang tumbles forward into a roll towards the young violinist, finishing on his back with both legs thrust upwards at the violin and/or Yurika's chin. Play music later, go flying now!

[OOC] Yurika sputters.

[OOC] Yang says, "#4 was Yun's idea, of course."

COMBATSYS: Yang successfully hits Yurika with Senkyuutai.

Yurika purses her lips lightly, her gaze not quite breaking from Yang, and gives a nod of her head in agreement. She could understand that line of thinking, having been told that many times herself. And so the young student eyes Yang, and his rather odd execution, then slips into a slightly more defensive stance, a slight smile on her lips.
Though that gets wiped off quickly, because she wasn't expecting his rising kick to actually hit her! "NNngh!" the girls head snaps back from the kick and yes she's definatly sent flying for a brief moment! The blow was certainly nothing pleasent, but somehow she doesn't go crashing off into some stray corner; her fingertips touch the floor, helping her slightly regain leverage in the air and lands on her feet..
And then dashes back toward Yang, her breathing slightly heavier. Bow raised to her violin, she's just a foot or so away before playing a suprisingly serene piece, twirling off of the floor to finalize her advance. The music takes physical form, the light blue and off-grey quarter notes and half-notes swirl about her body like a gymnast ribbon, and should Yang get caught up in the mini-tornado, he'll find his body unpleasently assaulted by sound, like repeated jabs to his body before he's flung up into the air, "Hyaaah!"

COMBATSYS: Yang fails to interrupt Tragic Lullaby from Yurika with Zenpou Tenshin.

"You're pretty light on the toes yourself," Yang notes appreciatively as he watches Yurika make a deft recovery of her own. "If you weren't so scary, I would be enjoying this mo- aughincoming!" His first instinct is to suspect an incoming El-Kabong, which is why he rushes right for her. Just vault over while she swings away, then drop a foot in the small of her back and that's that.
Only that wasn't that as instead he finds himself surrounded by music manifested physically. "What the- hey! Ow!" The beating goes on, all the magical notes pummeling the Chinese boy just before he's flung skyward and left wide open for a follow through strike.
Maybe he really should've chosen #4.

Yurika displays a technique of such grace that it would certainly leave Yang in awe.. If he weren't so busy getting blown away by it, at least. But she's consoled by the fact that it at least could be appreciated through pain, "I'm sorry," she murmurs, "I don't believe I heard what you said, but it likely isn't worth repeating," she lands on one foot, turning to face Yang and certainly looks to take advantage of the opening that appears to be.. Well. Existing!
The musician swiftly closes in on Yang once again, leaping up into the sky and raises her bow, playing a much shorter tune- The moment her bow sweeps from her violin strings, this time a ring of her musical energy is launched forward like a vertical frisbee threatening to slam into his gut, which if she's really lucky will just smack him right into the ceiling! Meanwhile after that motion, she's already backflipping in the air to decend to the ground.

COMBATSYS: Yang interrupts Tragic Serenade from Yurika with Tenshin Senkyuutai.

Ooh, dissed. "So cold," Yang gasps through choked breaths. Bit by bit, he truly is learning from Yun.
It takes less than a moment for the haze to wear away, and even less than that for the fighter to recover and flip back onto his feet in time for the next movement. If the violin isn't an El Kabong, then he'll have to... "That's right, keep an eye on the music!"
True enough, another tune begins, and this time Yang's ready for the flurry of notes. In a flash-step he disappears, only to reappear rapidly in mid-air, parting the sounds and ruining the melody much like the Beat Crusaders crashing a Shanghai Philharmonic cocnert. Each slash finishes with a "WATAH!" and a strike at the violinist herself, a sneaker upside her head here, upside her instrument there, and a strike at her knees for good measure. He finishes with a rolling landing that puts him in a three-point stance right next to the girl. "You were saying?"

"Cold? Hardly," Yurika murmurs in the moment she has, "But words that shouldn't be coming out of ones mouth, tends to bypass m-"
And that's about as far as she gets, Yang pulls out a trick she wasn't expecting at all! A combination of kicks bypassing her musical assault? That.. Seems to be growing increasingly popular these days.
She's not quite in a position to defend herself, so each of his blows land solidly and leave the girl hitting the floor gut first and flattened out, her weapons still tightly clutched, "I- Impossible," she mumbles to herself, somehow pushing herself off the floor with slightly frazzled hair, "U- Unacceptable, that was luck! Pure luck!" she cries, and as one might expect, while on her last legs, she has yet to present the end! And so she will, "I will not let you get away.. With making a mockery of my prized technique!" The girl plays once more,
And this time the sound isn't very pleasent, it is a rather uneasy, furious tune as the girl takes a slight step backward, and then glides across the floor, "This is my Grande Finale'.. For you!" the girl twist a little to the side so that as she glides she can swing her arm and deliver a backhand with her bow weilding hand, right toward Yangs nose. It should stun him long enough to make it too late to realize that he's surrounded by a much larger string of notes, the multi-colored energy beelining toward Yang from all sides to punish his body in the same manner as her previous techniques.
But that's all she has left after that, Yurika drops to a single knee, trying not to let her anger surface any further.

COMBATSYS: Yurika can no longer fight.

"Luck? Mockery?" Yang scratches his head uncomfortably, "I don't know about you, Miss Kirishima, but I really don't take my league fights /that/ seriously. I mean, its all for show, right?"
WRONG. For being too mouthy, the young fighter finds out first hand just what the back of the hand said to the face. Slap! Insult to injury comes with the last musical assault, and despite his best efforts to block the barrage with his armguards, he's left battered and heaving by the end.
Battered and heaving, but still standting. "Augh... ow... damn, that smarts... er..." Is that it? Yang studies the downed Yurika for a moment, then calmly elects on one final swift stroke of utter destruction...
He pokes her nose with a finger. "Beep."

Yurika breathes heavily, she needs a moment after exhuding that much power after all. The fury of a woman scorned.. Is truely power indeed. But yes, indeed Yurika takes the League quite seriously; it's difficult to ascertain why, but the musician certainly isn't hearing of Yang's confusion. He doesn't get it simply because despite understanding some of what involves being well mannered, ... Um.. Well something appropriate after that.
She looks up to Yang when he approaches, her smile long since gone, and stays knelt.. Her expression is completely flabbergasted when he beeps her nose, to the extent that she's may have very well turned into a mannican for a few moments.
Yurika is at a complete loss what to do at that point, but her face turns red, her dark eyes widening in mild fury, "........" The musician stands up slowly finally, and she hisses nastily, "How -dare- you. Sleep with one eye open, Mister Yang."
She flips back one of her big ol' locks, and turns around, storming right toward the elevator, muttering not-very-ladylike things under her breath.
Awww.. Yang's made himself a new friend.

It was a friendly beep! He didn't mean any harm! Yang steps back and watches Yurika leave with eyes wide in shock. No, not out of fear, but more of the words he knows Yun will say when he hears of this: "Dude, she's totally hot for you."

"Oh hell."

COMBATSYS: Yang has ended the fight here.
