If Ryu was the sort of person who..you know..groaned, he might have done as much when he received the match-up for his next Neo League Fight! But since he is Ryu, he shall not. No, instead he would nod resolutely and train vigorously in preparation of the upcoming battle, knowing his decided opponent shall do the same! Yes, he shall look..uh..forward to seeing how has improved since last they met! Perhaps he will have abandoned his vengeful quest at last and seen that martial arts is not a means to the end of revenge, but a journey towards continual physical and spiritual self-improvement that he no true end! Arriving with his infamous punctuality, the ansatsuken practitioney may be beheld performing his standard stretches prior to the fight's beginning.
Dan didn't take that kind of approach. Training? Hah. There's no need for training against one of these Gouken dinks from Ansatsucken. He knows that much and even says that much on the back of his GI in Yellow street tape. Yep. Taped right on the back of his Gi is 'You don't need to train against Ansatsucken dinks!'
He looks around for his fans and gives them a big thumbs up as he steps into the ring, "YEAH, THAT'S RIGHT GUYS! DAN IS BACK ON TOP BABY! TOP OF THE WORLD! THROW FLOWERS, THROW MONEY, YOUR BOY IS GOING TO THE TOP! STRAIGHT TO THE TOP! THIS PAINTRAIN HASN'T BRAKES! Y'SHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
Well, at least he's enthusiastic about the upcoming fight, right?

Yes...enthusiasm, sure. Fortunately, Ryu has never been the sort to be swayed by whatever baseless taunts and jeers Dan can come up with! Should there be any onlookers, the vagabond pays them no mind, even those who relentlessly shout out his name. No distracts may be allowed for after all, he must place all his attention on the fight. No matter who his opponent was, all ought be approached with the same focus and determination! "Dan Hibiki.." The wanderer will speak, pausing a bit in search of the right words, "It is...good to see that you are well after all this time." What, is Ryu saying Dan would dead in a gutter or ditch somewhere by now? Of course not! Such petty thoughts were surely beneath the Herald of Hadou. Never one for verbal exchange of cours, he'll get right down to the point, "Shall we begin..?" He'll query, adopting his traditional ansatsuken fighting stance.
Dan looks at Ryu for a few moments before he shrugs and says, "Whatever palsie. It's your funeral. I mean..." He looks to his fans and begins to grin "After all. I got my FANBASE WITH ME! Hey can we give it up for Dan Hibiki?"
"Yeah! Dan! C'mon you can do it! YEAH MAN! Dan is the MAN! WOOO! Do it to it Hibiki! Yay yay yay yay yay!"
Dan's grin gets broader and he gives a huge thumbs up, "That's what I like to call HELLS YEAH! You Saikyo People in the place to be, let me hear you say, 'FIRE IT UP!'"
"FIRE IT UP!"
What the hell. Is Dan 'rappin' with the crowd? Dan, you're like 35 or something. You're not hip! Stop it right now mister!

...Right. "I see that your...fighting spirit remains unchanged, Dan." Yes, lets go with that, "But what about your fighting skills? I shall put them to the test!" Over the cries of Hibiki's apparent fans, Ryu shall dash forward with legendary speed, launching into a short jump several feet short of the Saikyo-ryuu fighter, aiming to land quite nearly in front of him. As he descends a menacing hooked fist shall swing out and down, aiming squarely for Dan's brow. Lets see if we can't finally knock some sense into that noggin!

Dan is punched right in the face while he's mugging for the crowd. And stumbles backwards in the subway for a moment, before gaining his balance and looking right at the other fighter, "Hah. My skills? You want to see my skills? You'll see more than that! You'll see me kicking you right in the face. Watch now. You might miss it."
He leaps into the air with a spinning forward kick that brings his hand together over the tip of his toe like some kind of dumb ballerina.
Oh Dan. You should maybe take this more seriously.

With a such a brazenly broadcasted and arrogant move, it should be a simple matter for Ryu, the man who has traveled all across the world in search of the next challenge, to effortlessly spin clear of the hit so that Hibiki shall find his foot slicing acrss naught but air! Right? Of course! Except he doesn't! Know, it seems Ryu is actually hit by the attack, and even staggers a bit! What in the world? He must have simply allowed that hit to take place, in order to gauge Hibiki's strength! Yes, that's what all the Ryu fans will tell themselves before they sleep at night, the true answer surely lost to the annals of time, what with vagabond being as modest as he is. "Your strength is respectable, Dan!" He shall say in his recover, going with momentum of kick and twisting aside and around the pink gi fighter, "If only you would channel it into a more proper use!" Not lacking in the same momentum, his left foot shall lift up and around and down a quick rounhouse, aimed in a glancing blow across his opponent's back.
COMBATSYS: Dan dodges Ryu's Light Kick.

Dan sidesteps the incoming kick with a scoff. "Huh, What you start going on a world journey and you forget how to kick there, kiddo. Let me tell you something about kicking pal. I've been kicking a long long time and I've learned quite a bit from all the kicking I've done.. and I've learned that the best kick is..."
After that preamble Dan spins back quickly, before vaulting forward and launching himself in a kick that will most decidedly hurt should it connect, after all it is his bread and butter. His money maker. His triple spinning aerial roundhouses that are in no way related to Tetsumakiwhateverthehellitisthatolddudesaidonthefirstday. Oh yes it is:

Ah yes, that move. Good thing Ryu has no idea what the word 'lawsuit' means, right?! And it's not like he has any money to pay for a lawyer in the first place! But nevermind that, he'll see the move coming and cross his arms out before his face in a sloid block, absorbing each successive kick with relatively little damage. Light bruises maybe, but that would be all. "An interesting technique.." The vagabond will cant a raised brow in the Saikyo-Ryuu fighter's direction, "But I think I like it better when it was called.." He'll leap in the air, countering with his own whirldwind of furious spinning kicks, "TATSUMAKI SENPUU KYAKU!"
COMBATSYS: Dan interrupts Tatsumaki Senpuu Kyaku from Ryu with Chouhatsu Densetsu.

As Ryu goes airborne, Dan goes groundborne, curling into a ball and rolling under the other fighter. He doesn't entirely come out unscathed however, as the tip of Ryu's bottom left smacks into his head a couple of times and also rubs up against his nose.
Coming out of the roll, Dan speaks, "WOOOOOOOOF! Man, what the hell you ever wash those feet. They smell like... travel! I mean I know my own tootsies don't smell like roses all the time, but I do make some effort. I thought your duffelbag had some kind of ointment for that. You're an unprepared fighter! Go learn something!"
Well, it seem his reactions had gotten better, if nothing else! Although Ryu's attack hits, it does not nearly as fully as that vagabond had expected it to, and for that Hibiki shall garner some silent praise. Comments about his personal hygeine inside (monks never take baths either, you know!) he shall relentlessly move right on to his next move as soon as he touch back down upon the the ground, reaching out for his opponent's arm. If successful, he'll yank him forth some impressive strength and throw Dan up and over his back, twisting as he does the make the landing particularley unceremonious!

Dan is hurled like a frisbee around the fighting arena, flailing his arms wildly as he soars through the air. With a frown on his face he crashes into a trashcan, and sits in it, looking up at the ceiling. It's during this time that he breathes deeply. And looks straight at Ryu. His grin creeps back onto his face, and one hand comes up, its palm towards the sky. Then the Index fingers move back towards Dan's face, "ORA, ORA!"
Dan is callin' a Ryu out.
COMBATSYS: Dan focuses on his next action.

Oh Dan, is this really the game you want to play? Really? Very well then, Ryu shall administer to you...THE TEST! Yes, that's right, the yardstick by which every fighter is measured! Everyone reacts differently! Some block it, some counter with a move of their own, some just jump over it (OVER AND OVER AGAIN ARGH) and then are those who just hit by it! Still, silence is all Hibiki shall find in reply to his incessant eggings on of the ansatasuken. Except of course, for the words "HADOUUUKEN!" He'll shout as he quickly cups his hands and thrust them forth, firing a streaking sphere of trademark blue chi towards the pink gi'd fighter.

Dan thrusts himself forward as he hears that word. Wobbling on his feet with the trascan still firmly attached to his ass. In this awkward position he dashes right up to the incoming fireball before he turns his head back towards the crowd, winks once, and cries out, "SHINKUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU"
"GAAAADOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!"
And with that, Ryu's fireball is eaten by the cyan blob of energy sliding from Dan's hand and making its way towards Ryu at a moderate but steady pace. Looks like Dan has a plan.

Ah, so the Hadouken is swallowed up by Dan's own retaliatory attack! Impressive indeed, but Ryu himself is not out of tricks just yet! Could he have been goading the Saikyou-Ryuu into that attack with his initial hadouken, secretly charging one of the more powerful version to see how Shinkuu Gadouken stood up to that? Who knows! But it happens nonetheless as the vagabond's palms surge with the crackle of energy, another more concentrated form of hadouken growing between them and being launche just as Dan's projectile is scant seconds way. "DENJIN HADOUUUUKEN!" He'll shout as the attack blast a clean hole through the approaching chi, absorbing whatever remains into itself and firing right back art Dan. Fireball wars commence!

Commence? Yeah Dan'll bite. In fact he'll really bite, because his addition to this battle of the great strengths and wills of semi-pseudo ansatsuken fighting is to pull out a picture of himself and hold it up in front of the blast radius of Ryu's massive fireball.
In hindsight, this may have not been the best strategy in the world, as the Denjin Hadouken burns the photo like fire burning paper. An apt metaphor, whoever says it isn't should get their license revoked. Unfortunately, that being Dan's only shield from the raging inferno that is Ryu's fighting spirit, is caught between a trashcan and an asskicking. The asskicking wins out and he's thrust so deep into the Trashcan from the force of the blow that he feels like Oscar.
Yes, that one. The grouch. I'm sure somewhere down there he's got a banana peel hanging on his head. Oh Dan. Will you never learn?
Oh, that one hard to hurt. Surely the crowd will ripple with more than a comple of winces as the other fighter is pounded firmly into said trashcan. As for Ryu, he'll let out what seems to be...well no one really knows what it was. Could it have been a sigh? Mere indigestion? Who knows! Nonetheless, he'll bow towards his fallen opponent even in his..uh, unfortunate position. "Farewell for now, Dan Hibiki. Should we meet again I...well, let just cross that bridge when we come to it, no?" The world warrior shall then set his way toward the exit of the urban arena, once more rejoining the path towards next challenge...and what curious meanders may lie along the way.
