Neo League 301 - #320: Roberto vs Adelheid

Description: A three hour tour o/~ A three hour tour o/~ (Winner: Adelheid)

This Neo League fight is unusual in that it will be taking place on a cruise liner as opposed to the normal land based battle. The world's elite are in attendence in what seems to be another attempt to promote the World Warrior tournament. The fight was announced to be a black tie affair.
When Roberto found out about the venue he cringed a bit but he figured that since his next match in the tournament will probably be the end of the line for him, he might as well get all the practice he can get before his upcoming match. However with a realization that he could lose his soccer balls out to sea, and the fact that there's not really much of a barrier between himself and the spectators he steps out wearing a goalie shirt with with a pseudo tuxedo design on the front and his red goalie gloves and came without the mesh bag of soccer balls. And while he has familiarity with his current opponent he's at a bigger disadvantage than he would be under normal circumstances. Let's see if the soccer genius can rise to the occasion.

Soccer genius indeed. Adelheid didn't quite buy Roberto at first glance, but after seeing the Taiyo goalie in action...
Well, Roberto is definitely a fighter to be reckoned with, in his own right. Not that Adelheid seems any more concerned than his usual stoicism as he paces out onto the open area of deck, eyeing the soccer fighter evenly, "It's been awhile kid." Isn't the Bernstein heir himself rather young, too? Not much older than Roberto, that's for sure... but there's an entirely too mature air to how he holds himself, and an all too deadly grace to every precise moment.
The young Bernstein is dressed in a dress 'uniform' of sorts, a double-breasted jacket clipping in silver on his left shoulder, various similar metallic accents drawn throughout the matching suit. His feet, of course, remain bootclad: polished black. To him, this is an opportune 'warm up'... and perhaps a bit of a challenge as well, "Let's see what you can do, goalie!" His fingers draw the classic 'come on' motion through the air.

Actually Adelheid is a bit younger than him. While it would normally be off putting to be called a kid by someone younger than him he still acknowledges that in many ways he still is a kid. But that is neither here nor there. What is important is that not having the soccer balls around has taken a large chunk of strategy out and so while normally he'd open with his signature move, it no longer becomes an option and so he goes into a run and slides towards Adeheid's legs in the classic slide tackle.
The big band which up to now was silent begins to play an upbeat tune as the fight starts out.

A fine, effectively executed slide tackle, indeed. There's no force or function lacking in Roberto's opening kick, but Adelheid takes it and turns it into one of his own.
Rushing Roberto as he drops, Adelheid actually kicks -off- the top of that kicking leg as he passes abruptly overtop of the Taiyo goalie...
Abruptly, and with the snapping, low swing of his other boot, seeking to literally stomp him out of his slide and swing the other heel around into the soccer warrior's skull as he hits the ground, Adelheid landing in a firm, but agile twist.

COMBATSYS: Adelheid successfully hits Roberto with Double Tomahawk EX.
- Power hit! -

And while it wasn't his best slide tackle, he realizes that all slide tackles has one huge vulnerability. One that the Bernstein takes advantage of with grace and ease. Slide tackles do travel fairly quickly with ideal execution, all slide tackles regardless of how well they're executed have a horrible recovery time and so while the goalie does try to bring up his hands to intercept them, he's pretty much nothing he can do but take the shots to the face.
After feeling those painful pairs of attacks, Roberto attempts to spin to his feet and in that spin swings his glowing foot high up at Adelheid with a hard kick hopefully sending him into the air.

COMBATSYS: Adelheid reflects Thrust Kick from Roberto with Dark Barrier.

Turning to follow Roberto's crash-landing out of his initial assault, Adelheid pauses only a moment, dark crimson gaze considering his opponent. The surge of chi stirs the young Bernstein's instincts, and one of the family's preeminant techniques shines to the fore...
The Taiyo goalie's gleaming foot hurtles in, only to spin and crack off a reverberating shield of coursing, grey-silver force, the disc conjured at the end of a defending, open palm. The swirling mass of oppositional wind chi holds true against the strike, and rather than letting Roberto bounce off of his own accord...
The chi within the shield undergoes a sort of repolarization, Roberto's energy and its own couring outwards and back the way the kick came, showering the goalie with a shrapnel of dissipating chi, "Not bad." The calm platinum blonde observes. But it'll take more than that.

When his foot collides with the barrier, he feels a feedback of energy that sends him flying backwards and into crumpled heap. He slowly gets up to one knee and then fully standing before he bounces on his toes left to right as he watches Adelheid. Perhaps a change in tactics will be in order.

COMBATSYS: Roberto focuses on his next action.

"Don't hesitate." Adelheid encourages, after a fashion.
... it's not great encouragement because this fight is just getting ramped up, and the Bernstein heir isn't ready to give up his offensive yet. A renewed gout of that silvery wind-chi is shorn forth from the ground itself as the black-booted Bernstein kicks around, a sharp rise of his foot sending a cleaving lance of energy along the ground, surging in at Roberto full-bore, the waist high wave threatening to wash him right off his feet.

COMBATSYS: Roberto reflects Reppukyaku from Adelheid with Shining Clutch.

What do goalies do when an object comes full bore in their general direction? They move their hands in the way to stop it. And while it isn't at the ideal height for him, the soccer goalie manages to adapt by reaching down and sort of slapping it back at Adelheid with a glowing hand. After all, turn about is fair play, right? "Thank goodness soccer balls usually don't travel that fast!"

COMBATSYS: Adelheid negates Reflected Reppukyaku from Roberto with Large Thrown Object.

Alright. The idea of sending a ginormous wave of chi screaming out... is not to have it come screaming back in. But turnabout is fair play, isn't it? Adelheid looks visibly surprised at the goalie's clenched hands, but by the time the Reppukyaku is -blasting- at a rather remarkable speed back towards its creator and new target, Adelheid /leaps/ backwards, flipping one elegant backflip in landing, a booted foot kicking a vacant table across the deck. Umbrella and chairs go flying, and the table itself all but explodes as it crashes end over end into the wave...
.. but in the end the silvery gout of chi sputters out, and Adelheid still stands well enough behind it, eyeing Roberto with renewed consideration.

Roberto nods when he sees the the vacant table go, 'Kaboom' acknowledging it as a creative response to his response. And while he has put on an incredible performance, he has yet to do any damage to him. The soccer star seeks to change that. With a cautious approach, he steps around the debris and then when he gets near, he performs a quick punch not really a damager but rather a punch that is designed to deflect soccer balls away or in this case, move Adelheid around a bit and unbalance him slightly.

COMBATSYS: Roberto successfully hits Adelheid with Quick Punch.

Adelheid weaves aside, but the quick rush still catches him painfully, a bruising impact glancing off his chest as he twists, sharply, his left glove reaching out for the front of Roberto's 'tux'. If he found his grip, Adelheid would look to punish the goalie for his proximity..
... by hauling Roberto rather abruptly up in that one, deceptively powerful fist, and twist his upper body around sharply, seeking to crack his right fist harshly into the goalie's ribs, with a focused, wry smile.

COMBATSYS: Roberto blocks Adelheid's Scorpion Blow.

Adelheid wasn't as unbalanced as the Taiyo soccer star could've hoped for but even still it was just enough to allow him to defend against the punch to rib cage by performing a deflecting punch towards the fist and keeping it from completely injuring him.
Roberto then quickly breaks from the grip and performs a goalie style diving save that would ideally catch the other teenager in its path. If it does, he'll take him down hard to the ground and then upon getting up will kick the still grounded Adelheid in the ribs.

COMBATSYS: Roberto successfully hits Adelheid with Mundane Save.

Whunf! Roberto is not only more prepared for retaliation than Adelheid had anticipated, but suddenly the Taiyo goalie is dive-tackling him to the deck. Adelheid hits the ship hard, and before he can right himself, the kick lands squarely on his ribs... but the densely tensed muscle absorbs some measure of the blow, and it doesn't seem to slow the young Bernstein's sudden rise to his feet, lunging around to put his weight (and substantial chi-fueled strength) behind a jaw-jarring uppercut, "This is more /like/ it!"

COMBATSYS: Roberto blocks Adelheid's Strong Punch.

Adelheid         0/-------/----===|=======\==-----\1          Roberto

Roberto was almost as stunned by Adelheid's quick rise to his feet after the kick but one good thing about both the fight circuit and being a soccer goalie is that they both develop good reflexes and that's what he uses to intercept the truly heavy punch on his arm. A slight grunt is given and then Roberto Miura is back on the offensive with another goalie deflection styled punch. This time it's with both hands and has a lot more 'Umph!' than the previous punch.

COMBATSYS: Roberto successfully hits Adelheid with Strong Punch.

The all-out uppercut cracks true... against Miura's powerful arm. The goalie save buys him time to slam Adelheid squarely in the chest, sending him staggering a moment before his footing self-corrects almost intuitively. He paces backwards a graceful stride, then two, then cracks a bit of a smile. This is more interesting... but he's definitely been hit a lot harder. (He is Rugal's son).
Rushing forward himself, Adelheid seeks to hook a foot behind Roberto's ankle, and in sudden, surprising order, shove him over it to fall to the deck. Such a bully.

COMBATSYS: Roberto endures Adelheid's Quick Throw.

The leg hooks true, and the push is fairly easy. Perhaps too easy because while the impact is hard on Roberto's back he still manages to roll with it quickly enough that there's still enough time to take advantage of overextension from his going too easily with the attack.
Roberto darts at Adelheid and just as suddenly kicks at him, hard. If that initial kick is successful he'll be darting left and right kicking him as if he was working the give and go with himself and using Adelheid as the soccer ball before giving one final kick to launch him into the debris of the remnants of that exploded table.

COMBATSYS: Roberto successfully hits Adelheid with Pass and Shoot.

The point of shoving someone over: to keep them on the ground a moment. Of course, when they rebound like the damned soccer balls they love, that can be trickier. The flurry of kicks blasts Adelheid back, staggering him left and right under pummeling force courtesy of Miura's rather talented footwork. It's enough to launch the Bernstein heir down, into the splintered remains of the furniture...
It's not enough to -keep- him down, however, and with alarming resilience Adelheid lunges out of the unwelcoming seat, one hand lurching forward, seeking to clasp over Roberto's face. A sharp clench of fingers would follow, then a harsh jerk off his feet, and an /explosion/ of silver-white chi, released from his palm, into Miura's held face at point blank range. Assuming that first grapple is successful, at least.

COMBATSYS: Roberto fails to reflect Scorpion Deathlock from Adelheid with Shining Clutch.

Well now... Roberto, in his previous match against Adelheid, had seen this move before. It seems simple enough move hands in the way and shove the chi back into his hand. Problem is that Roberto's hand wasn't fast enough and in the process of lunging in to deflect it, he ends up right where Adelheid probably wanted him and collapses into a motionless heap when he's finally blasted away. He's counted out and only then he's able to sit up again."Ugh... Could someone get the license plate number of the 18 wheeler that just hit me?"

Fwoom! The tremeandous windshear that's released into Roberto's face is certainly enough to blast the Taiyo goalie free of the 'R' heir's grasp, and to the deck of the ship once more. At first, Adelheid adapts a ready stance, eyeing Roberto for any forthcoming further assault. But it seems the goalie is having trouble just righting himself, and as the match is called, the young Bernstein offers a simple nod to his opponent, "Nice try." It seems genuine enough, rather than mocking, as Adel turns to head back to other portions of the ship.... party cruising isn't his thing, but he can definitely appreciate sea travel. He may have won out... but Roberto certainly got a few good licks. He'll be relaxing the rest of today, at least.

For Roberto's part he's going to be spending the rest of the day relaxing after the hard fought battle. After a few moments to take his breath he finally rises to his feet and heads to his room. Big band music playing as the two fighters leave the arena in different directions. After the wrecked table is cleaned up, there will be dancing. And I doubt Roberto is in any condition for that.

COMBATSYS: Adelheid has ended the fight here.
