Neo League 301 - #301: Ken vs Ingrid

Description: Ken might be too sure of the wisdom of fighting a little girl... but he's not so rude as to back down from a legitimate challenge! (Winner: Ken)

Ken is stretching his legs as he has them out in v-formation. He is able to lay his entire torso upon his leg, but for those that know Ken that is not at all surprising. After all, flexibility allows him to be agile and fast and his speed is what gives him an edge. He heard that someone wanted to challenge him to a League match, and that being the case he didn't refuse. After all, it was a too long since he had a match and needs to make sure that Geese doesn't catch up to him. After all, it seems like Geese has entered just to spite him or perhaps beat him, something Ken won't allow to him to do. No one beats him at his own game... No one.

Perhaps it was an odd thing for someone who had only recently gotten into the league to challenge the person who actually created it to battle, but one of Ingrid's main purposes for entering the fighting world when she did was to find her exact place in the fighting world, to know how powerful she was compared to others. While she had gotten a very recent beat down by everyone's favorite chinmonster, it would be good to know if he was simply a monstrously strong man, or if there were others who could stand up against his might. Such as Ken, organizer of the Neo League.
And so she makes her grand entrance, all of five feet tall and eighty five pounds, walking in through the doors that open up in the wall. Her stride is slow and casual, and there's a simple smile on her face as she looks around and examines the grand arena she's set to fight in. "So this is the White Arena of Masters Stadium." She sounds somewhat impressed and looks at Ken as she draws nearer, going so far as to offer him a curtsy. "Pleased to meet you, you're Ken Masters, correct? My name is Ingrid Holmann."

Blinking as she gives a curtsy, the blond warrior looks up to see Ingrid. This is the woman he heard about. The one with unique fighting ability. Of course, unique is not always the same as powerful, which is why Ken is wondering how the fight is going to be. "I'm Ken," the street fighter begins before he puts his legs together and flips to his feet with effortless grace. He throws a bow in as well, it all flowing as one continuous movement. "Good to meet you, Ingrid. Take it you are ready for your fight, or do you need to change into something else before we begin?" He looks over toward the ref for the fight, who gets up off the chair that he was seated in while waiting.

No, unique doesn't mean powerful. Sometimes it just means that it's so odd that it distracts your opponents for a few moments before they beat you down in a few blows. Luckily, with on her skill level, that isn't the case for Ingrid. She shakes her head slightly, "No, this is what I always fight in. If I had needed to change before this fight, I would have done so beforehand." She stretches out a little, nothing that seems to be on the level of the leg stretches Ken was doing earlier though, just something to get her blood moving a little faster. "I'm ready now, if you are."

Ken nods as he walks calmly to one side of the fighting area. He has a rather casual stance, yet there is an awareness about him that suggest that Ken's guard is up. "Whenever you are ready, give me your best shot," he announces. While he isn't too sure of the girl's ability, the fact that he hasn't heard of her makes it so Ken figures she isn't someone quite on his level. Though time will tell if that will be the case or not.

COMBATSYS: Ken has started a fight here.

Ingrid nods her head, and her arms drop to her sides, gently swaying as if she's calm and relaxed. And she is, too. It seems like a terribly open fighting stance, but her defensive techniques are mostly evasive, allowing her the luxury of such a stance. "My best shot?" Ingrid asks. A little nod is given, "Alright, then." She smiles, takes two steps forward, and then launches herself at Ken with a, "Ha!", elbows sticking out as she jumps towards him and laces her body with golden psycho power, spinning around in order to try and smack him multiple times before landing back on her feet. "Yosha!" The next step is a kickflip, her body whipping backwards and sending her legs up towards his chin, trying to knock him up into the air and bathe him in energy that streams from her feet at the same time. If nothing else, her style is flashy.

COMBATSYS: Ken dodges Ingrid's Sunrise.

Ken leaps toward Ingrid as she does her offensive, landing where she was standing at the beginning of the fight. Ken is a matrial arts master, so it's only natural that he makes something this seem second nature. The split second decision and the needed action, all of it made with rehearsed procedure.

He doesn't do anything for the time being, just giving Ingrid a tilt of the head. Maybe it was a fluke or something. Either way, he just watches and waits.

COMBATSYS: Ken takes no action.

Ingrid lands on her feet and turns towards Ken. A little smile plays out on her face, "I suppose I should be more careful, shouldn't I? I left myself rather open to you. Hopefully it won't happen again." It seems that rushing in gungho isn't Ingrid's style, and honestly it isn't she's more the type to carefully examine her opponent and learn how to proceed from there. She almost seems rather amused with herself, for some reason or another.

COMBATSYS: Ingrid focuses on her next action.

Ken merely slides into his famed stance, starting to bob and sway a little. He stays pretty relaxed still though. He's not giving it his all yet though. "I hope not," Ken offers with a good natured smile. "Let me know when you're ready."

COMBATSYS: Ken takes no action.

Ingrid nods her head, "I believe I'm ready now." She takes off after him again, this time rushing in on the ground. She moves in quickly, her groundspeed being fairly fast, and making it over to Ken quickly. She seems to throw a punch at him, but it's a simple feint, and she takes a step to the left. Then she plants hard, shifts right again and raises her arms, lowering them quickly and sending out a large steam of psychopower towards Ken, trying to engulf him in her energy.

COMBATSYS: Ingrid successfully hits Ken with Sunbeam.

Ken tries to leap back out of the way of the attack, but instead he gets nailed right in the chest and thrown back. He doesn't fall, putting a hand to where he was hit. It hurt. Good. "I thought it was just you needing to warm up!" Ken exclaims before racing for Ingrid, trying to grab the front of her shirt before pulling her to the side and giving her a powerful roundhouse kick. Seems like Ken is starting to get into the fight himself, but it is far from uncommon for Ken to take awhile to 'warm up' himself.

COMBATSYS: Ingrid fails to counter Tsukami Nage from Ken with Sun Lower.

Alright, now it's time to see if her special defense will work against him. He reaches for her shirt, and she leans forward and points her finger in the air. A swirling disk of energy forms, but it doesn't form fully in time, and the hand reaches right through, dragging her aside and cracking her on the neck with a really hard kick. Really, really hard, compared to what she's used to. She gets slammed to the ground and rolls a pretty good ways away from him. It's a short moment later that she picks herself up and gives her neck a little rub. "You're very fast, Mr. Masters. I wasn't sure if that was going to work or not, but I thought you'd have to slip past it rather than being able to strike before it formed."

Letting Ingrid rise to her feet and speak after her failed attempt, Ken gives a shrug and a smile. "Hey, you don't know your limits until you've reached them. That's why you always have to try your best, even if you are up against a tough person like myself." That said, Ken races forward, trying to give a simple but powerful gut punch to Ingrid. "...But you are trying hard, and in the end, that's what will make you a better fighter."

COMBATSYS: Ken successfully hits Ingrid with Fierce Punch.

This time, rather than attempting an unorthodox defense Ingrid tries a normal approach, getting the hell out of the way. The problem is, it doesn't work. Ken is still just plain too fast for her, the simplistic punch smashing her in the stomach and causing her to literally bend around it, as anyone might if they were sucker punched in the stomach. The problem is that it was plain and obvious, perhaps even a little slow for Ken. She peels herself back, her face having gone a little white from the pain, so that she doesn't lead herself to instant retaliation. "Yes, I could never know for sure how powerful you are unless I test you myself, could I?" She jumps up into the air once she regains full control of herself, and flies right over the top of him. Right before she lands, though, her momentum literally reverses, and she pops back into the air and twirls, one hand in the air and one arm and leg out as she spins, the energy that provided the shift in movement sparkling around her.

COMBATSYS: Ken blocks Ingrid's Sun Arch.

A well toned right arm rises up to meet the spinning limbs, the attack sinking into Ken's defence like it was water. He seemed ready the second she pulled herself from his fist. While Ken's fighting style is far from undefeatable, his speed covers a mutlitude of flaws. "I suppose so," Ken responds back, just trying to grab Ingrid on the way down by the front of her dress again, this time to pull her back. It seems like she is being pulled onto him if he gets her, but instead, he is merely taking her back, keeping her weight on his foot as he tries to toss her behind him.

COMBATSYS: Ingrid fails to counter Inazuma Kakato Wari from Ken with Sun Delta.

In a somewhat desperate situation, unable to take another hit from Ken Masters no matter what Ingrid goes for broke. Because he's somewhat gentler with her she's till able to react while she's traveling on his foot, and when she realizes she's not immediately thwarted there's a bright flash around her, a symbol exactly the same as those on her hairpieces forming in golden psi around her body. She holds her hand out to Ken and a planar triangle forms... and then she's thrown away from Ken, and flies like a ragdoll to the floor, rolling a few times. She winces a little, and tries to push herself up, and then lets out a small laugh. "I do believe you have me beat." She chooses to sit instead, for the moment.

Ken flips back to his feet, hrming to himself. Moving toward the seated girl, he offers his hand. "It's okay... I expected that might be a short fight. But that's okay, I know when I first started fighting, I had the same problem too. Got my ass beat PLENTY of times before I got to where I am. After all, if you always won, you would never push yourself harder. Either way, hope that in a few months, you'll be able to push yourself to the next level and show me how much you've improved."

The ref moves forward, holding a med kit in case Ingrid needs the help. After all, Ken's been known to accidently be a little TOO rough on people while fighting them.

Ingrid waves off the medic. She got thrashed pretty hard, but it's nothing she won't be able to recover from. After all, he was nice enough to toss her rather than slam his feet into her on the final attack, which would have been a lot more painful. Especially if he had accidentally hit her in the face! "I hope so as well. I think just being able to see someone as advanced as you in combat would help me learn to anticipate another's moves better than I can now." She risks getting onto her feet, and manages it, though it appears a bit painful. "I thank you for allowing me to fight in your Stadium, though, it was quite the honor."

Ken tries to avoid hits to the face. While he isn't as odd about such things as Balrog, he defintely would prefer not to give young ladies busted up chops. "I'm glad you were able to come out. Maybe sometime you can entertain me with another fight with an ally or two. After all, it seems like if you wait for the right time, you can get in a good strike or two. In team fights, sometimes something like that can really turn the tide."

A smile and a nod are given, "I'd like that very much, and I'm glad you think so. You're certainly above my level, but I've had fairly good success when paired up with others." The fight Ingrid had with Karin against Cammy was really something, the ex-Doll could hardly get any momentum going with the constant one two barrage of attacks the pair gave her. "I know my real training has only just begun, but it's good to know what to expect from the highest end of the fighting spectrum already."

"Well, let's just say there are fighters out there that can give ME a licking. So, when you train, train like you are fighting a god. That there is always going to be something faster and stronger out there, waiting to snatch victory fro him. So you train, but you do so with boldness, because you know if you keep training like that you WILL be powerful, you will be swift... So that in time, you can be a true martial artist," Ken points out before he dusts himself off a bit.

"So, is there anything else you need? If you want, can get you some food or the like. Always like to entertain guests when they visit, more so when they give me a nice bit of exercise."

Ingrid listens intently to what Ken has to say, "That sounds like an excellent work ethic to have. If you're going to do something, you might as well do it right, hmm?" She smiles at him and thinks for a few moments at his question. "That sounds like a wonderful idea, and I think I could use a little extra energy after that." She didn't use up a terribly high amount of her own energy, but she did get smacked around enough that she'll probably need some food to recover.

"Right," Ken says as he gives a nod. He makes a motion for the ref to throw him a phone, which he does. He calls on it, merely having a short conversation with someone. Looks like he is asking for a table for two, seem to be a nice place from the looks of it. Or at least a place that takes reservations. After a bit of talking, he hangs up the phone and tosses it back to the ref. "Okay, we need to get ready, have dinner in an hour. Hope you enjoy steak. Meet you out front in ten minutes? I figure someone as good a sport as you deserves a reward." Why does he say that? He beats up a lot of people, but not all of them take defeat as graciously as Ingrid did. Heck, some of them were rather bitter about it. Those are the people Ken was tempted to throw head first into trashcans, but thankfully he's a Good Guy <TM> so he fought the urges.

Ingrid waits politely while Ken makes his phone call, not minding a bit because what would might otherwise be waiting around is for her resting and relaxing. A good thing after a fight where you lost! "Steak sounds very nice, thank you." She smiles when she's called a 'good sport', "Let's just say that while I didn't come in expecting to lose, I wasn't going to take a man who started his own league for fighters lightly, either." She gives a bit of a playful wink, "Ten minutes? I should be ready by then." One thing about dressing the way Ingrid does is that she never has to worry about not meeting dress codes of restaurants.
