Description: Girl, Interrupting. (Winner: Frei)
Though Aislinn joined the league, partially at the behest of Krizalid, she really hasn't done much with it; one match, against that blonde rich-b**ch Karin, and that's it. Of course, her life has been full of other things, as well, and there's been no shortage of interesting fights in her short life as of yet. Each fight has hammered in one obvious fact to Aislinn--she needs to get stronger. Of course, that's what everyone wants, really, but it has become her most important goal... for many reasons.
Having some free time after school--no NESTS scientists to poke and prod at her, Gedo kids largely leaving her alone for now--and her wounds from her fight with Edge having healed up, Aislinn saw no reason to refuse a Neo League invitation, and so here she is... not quite in the middle of the Dome Arena, but closer to the stands that are filled with spectators, Taiyo and non-school affiliated alike. Whether there are any NESTS representers in the crowd, Aislinn doesn't know... but it shouldn't matter either way.
Win or lose, Aislinn's goal is to continue to analyze her fighting style... to correct her mistakes, and tighten up her abilities. And that is why she's here.
So, on the great checklist of life, Frei has learned that people with excellent hair tend to be really good fighters. If they have excellent hair *and* it's some neat color like pink you're lucky to make it out of there alive. True story.
However, the monk has, of late, been busy on his own, working through his failures. They don't bother him, really... each of his last fights has been with a clearly superior opponent and each one has taught him something unique. Adelheid taught him that you can surprise people with a whale costume. Acacia taught him that Acacia is a nutcase. And Megumi taught him that... well, you already heard the hair lesson. But the Neo League has been a place for him to learn, and as long as the monk's showmanship pulls in viewers, they're gonna keep asking him back.
Thus we find him today sitting on the edge of the Arena's lowest wall, between the first row and the field, sitting cross-legged on top of it and eating cotton candy, giving the occasional wave to people he recognizes and waiting for his opponent to arrive. When he sees Aislinn take the field, he grins and hops down, finishing off the candy and pitching the tube into a trash bin before sauntering out to meet her. "Hi there!" Beeeeam. ^______^

The first lesson that Ai learned.. well... one of the first... was to never underestimate someone. The next lesson was to not trust anyone. So it is with an expression that holds mild curiosity that Aislinn watches Frei come from the stands onto the field. So... this monk is to be her opponent. It may be an interesting match. It may go one way or the other. Aislinn meets the sunny grin and beaming smile with... a flat look. Because you would never catch her doing anything of the sort. It is undignified and... silly.
Aislinn starts tuning out the crowd, the cheering and yelling; she tunes out most of the field with its rich green and rust-red earth... she almost tunes out the officials, and in a moment, will tune them out completely. But when the referee shouts "FIGHT!" she's off like a rocket, taking the steps necessary to close in on Frei and snap out a textbook 'front kick', the toe of her booted foot aimed for Frei's stomach. This was the third lesson--never hesitate. He who hesitates... has lost.
COMBATSYS: Frei dodges Aislinn's Medium Kick.

Hmm... purple hair. It's not looking good.
Considering that Frei could get lost in a *grocery store*, it's not a shock that he is the type who hesitates at the start of a fight, though he tends to call it "weighing the options". Aislinn apparently doesn't need to weight the options, and thus he is taken entirely by surprise by Aislinn's rather abrupt start to the battle. "My name's FreWHOA!" Working purely on instinct the monk drops the ground in a very low crouch, practically like hitting the deck to avoid a bullet, Aislinn's kick whizzing mere centimeters over the top of his head.
Of course, if Frei hesitates it's only at the *start* of a fight. The rest is a bit like shaking a magic 8-ball. Rising from his crouch abruptly, the monk does a nicely acrobatic front flip, looking to cut the air between himself and Aislinn with a scything kick that bursts into crimson flame. "Okay then!"
COMBATSYS: Frei successfully hits Aislinn with Kouen no Tsurugi.

It isn't hesitation that gets Aislinn hit; she sees the kick coming, analyzes her chances, and decides to try to take the hit and get Frei while he's recovering. But the kick pushes her a little too far off balance and she spends an instant longer than she would like, recovering.
However, now it's time for her own special abilities to come into play; she steps forward, spinning around an invisible, vertical axis, red lightning snapping into life on her hands; that lightning turns into a pair of thin crescents as she slashes outwards, the short-ranged wave of chi looking to catch Frei while he's still descending.
COMBATSYS: Frei blocks Aislinn's Burst Rondo.
[ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ < > ///////////////////////// ]
Frei 0/-------/-----==|==-----\-------\0 Aislinn
The kick was a little experimental on Frei's part, but lucky for him it works out fairly well... or at least well enough so that when he lands he's not doing pirouettes in the grass trying to remain standing. It's balance he's going to need, too, because Aislinn lets loose with a pair of really devastating energy bursts. Without any time to get out of the way, he instead lets a shimmering haze of silver light wash over his arm as he slightly twists, blocking the lightning burst with his forearm and wincing as it connects. Moments later, though, he's all smiles, clearly impressed. "Hey, that's a neat trick!" he gushes.
Trying hard to implement what he's learned so far, the monk takes a step back, hands going to pockets. Okay. If anything, it's his unpredictability that's given him the edge in fighting people better than he is... so he might as well exploit it. "I'm trying out a few things this fight. I hope you don't mind," he says carefully, withdrawing... a yo-yo from his pocket. "Plus I've never been any good with these." He even tries a few tricks. Wag the dog! Around the world! Smack Aislinn in the tummy by suddenly flicking out his wrist and sending the yo-yo right at her!
COMBATSYS: Aislinn fails to interrupt Random Weapon from Frei with Whirlwind Lariat.

Aislinn frowns... or would, really, were she inclined to. Though her face is expressionless, it's clear she's up against yet another stronger opponent... but when he whips out that yo-yo, Aislinn's moving forward, seeking to cut the use of it short.
Alas, she's caught by the yo-yo, throwing her off-balance as she attempts to blow through it--and she's left flailing for just a moment.
Whoa, it worked! "Whoa, it worked!" Yeah, thanks for the replay, fool. The narrator covered that already. Unfortunately, trying to look cool and shock that your stupid tactic worked in any way whatsoever do not go hand in hand; trying to reel the yo-yo back in, Frei pulls too hard, loses the grip on it on his finger, and can only stare straight ahead helplessly as it flies over his shoulder and into the stands, smacking with some force into a passing hot dog vendor's head and knocking him unconscious in a shower of beef franks.
There's a pause, before the monk just... draws a breath. "...yeah." Deciding that maybe now's a decent enough time to let Aislinn catch her breath, he hangs back, staying in stance and watching her carefully. "Sorry about that. Well, I mean, sorry about the weirdness. Some people have this thing about the weirdness."
COMBATSYS: Frei focuses on his next action.

Frei 0/-------/----===|===----\-------\0 Aislinn
Aislinn... is not a terribly happy camper at this point. Then again, is she ever? Even with the yo-yo lost, Aislinn just... gazes at Frei. It isn't a stare--she's not looking through him. It isn't a glare, either; she doesn't look angry. She looks nothing if calculating... but calculating what? Frei gets nothing from her eyes; she tenses her arms, lightning continuing to play up and down them, perhaps indicative of further power draw; her weight settles a little, her stance drawing in a little more strongly.
Unfortunately for Frei, as Edge learned a little while ago, Ai simply does -not- talk during a fight...
COMBATSYS: Aislinn gathers her will.
[ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ < > ////////////////////// ]
Frei 0/-------/----===|=======\-------\0 Aislinn
That... yeah. Frei actually withers a bit. His wacky is usually founded on a bit of give and take; he likes fighting, say, Sakura because she talks smack, or Alma because he's a pompous dork but he's an attractive pompous dork, or Jiro because admit it, the stoic thing IS kinda sexy. In any event, Frei's clearly at his best when there's some exchange of personality going on.
Fighting Aislinn is like fighting a test pattern.
"Oh... okay. So yeah, maybe that was a bit much," he monk says idly, fidgeting a little. "Alright. I'll make it up to you. Martial arts, straight up, for the rest of the fight. Swear to god." And he means it! Kinda. Dashing forward, the monk makes a grab for Aislinn's shirt or jacket, and if he can get one, drags her close in and then past him, driving a fist into the small of her back.
COMBATSYS: Frei successfully hits Aislinn with Combo Throw.

Frei 0/-------/---====|=======\==-----\1 Aislinn
Despite her best efforts--rather than attempting to avoid the technique, she seeks to defend against it with a block--Frei's grab and elbow prove effective, and she stumbles forward, the elbow driving a small gasp from the girl as she's forced to expel air. She continues her stumble into an all out run, to get some distance.
There's a definite frowny air around her as she is forced to, once again, reanalyze her situation... the fight has not, to say the least, been going well.
COMBATSYS: Aislinn gains composure.
[ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ < > ///////////////////// ]
Frei 0/-------/---====|=======\-------\1 Aislinn
Hmm. The fight *has* been going well for Frei, but he actually doens't look all that happy as he turns around to face Aislinn again, sizing her up. There's something Acacia-like about her demeanor, the same stoic, calm, inscrutable expression, the same precision. But if people like Alma fight by finding the fight's "rhythm", Frei fights by "singing the harmony line". To him, it's a point-counterpoint situation... and he's got to do his best to draw out Aislinn. SOMETHING'S gotta work.
"Okay... come on. Show me what you got!" he says cheerily, throwing his arms down to the sides and gathering his inner force, trying to make it nice and flashy... and it is, the grass around him blown back as the wind resonates with his chi, the long tails of his headband flapping out behind him. "The red lightning was really cool, I've never seen that before!"
COMBATSYS: Frei gathers his will.
[ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ < > ///////////////////// ]
Frei 1/-------/=======|=======\-------\1 Aislinn
Aislinn is going to be 99% impossible to draw out. Even those she's actually close to--Candy, for example--would have a less than 10% chance of getting her to show anything. Maybe it's because Aislinn doesn't think about this 'harmony' thing, or whatnot--she doesn't have any sort of philosophy about fighting, persay--but she's been something of an incredible failure recently. And, deep down, where no one can see.. it worries her a lot. So there's an urgency to her actions, one that wasn't there before; once again she advances on the monk, attempting, this time, to close in and snap a knee upwards into his chest--her right knee. That is immediately followed by a snapping side kick from the same leg, with no interval inbetween.
COMBATSYS: Frei blocks Aislinn's Knee Lance.
[ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ < > /////////////////// ]
Frei 1/------=/=======|=======\-------\0 Aislinn
Blinking, Frei watches Aislinn's rather quick advance with a raised eyebrow. Thankfully, the chi-gathering stance he frequently uses tends to put him in good position to defend himself, and luckily that's the case here, as he throws out a hand to push Aislinn's knee back and absorb some of the blow... and her side kick catches him totally unawares, making his block of that considerably more ragged and less fluid than it could be. Wincing, he backs off. "Wow. This is a tough room."
Okay. Wacky stunts: Failure. One-liners: Failure. Frei looks nervous as he steps back to give himself some room. He's running out of options. "I didn't want to do this..." he wanrs, furrowing his brow and holding his hands in front of him. "But you leave me no choice!" Blue-white chi gathers in his palms, tiny snowflakes arcing out of the gathering energy. It's all very big and dramatic!
Right up to the point that it stops, leaving nothing but a pie-shaped object made of ice and snow in Frei's hands. That's right, folks: he's resorted to Vaudeville. "CATCH!"
COMBATSYS: Aislinn negates Thrown Object from Frei with Thrown Object.

Frei 1/------=/=======|=======\-------\0 Aislinn
Yes, Frei. Conversation with Aislinn, particularly if you are trying to be silly, is going to FAIL. This should be patently obvious by now; as obvious as the eventual outcome of this fight. However, that outcome is not to be just yet.
Despite the big chi buildup, Aislinn remains looking less than impressed; as the snow and ice pie thing flies at her, she calmly kneels down, scooping up a rock off the ground... and throwing the rock right into the pie thing, with just enough force to disintegrate it.
To Frei's credit, he was not expecting a pie to the face to work. But it did make *him* chuckle, and as he is coming to sense, that might be good enough. It also was, at best, a feint, giving him time to run in after the attack, charging a glittery sphere of golden energy with his hands cupped to his side. "Welp, I gave it my best shot. Now it's time to do things my way!" Coming just short of Ai, the monk throws his hands forward and detonates the sphere of shiny yang chi, exploding a nice colorful firework right in the Gedo student's face if she doesn't get out of the way. "Rise and shine, sweetness!"
COMBATSYS: Aislinn blocks Frei's Hizashi.

Frei 1/-----==/=======|=======\-------\0 Aislinn
She doesn't move. Why should she? She's not afraid of Frei. Sure, he's had the extreme upper hand in this fight. But she's not afraid of -anything-. Except failing Krizalid to the point where he dismisses her. But that hasn't happened yet, Krizalid being a bit more forgiving, perhaps... or just recognizing her infancy. Aislinn's arms come up, and she simply brings up her aura, absorbing the 'firework' with a combination of her own aura and her forearms.
Then... well, she might as well try. She skips back a step, then leaps up, high in the air, her body bowing back like a reversed C--anyone who's seen Sakura perform the Sakura Otoshi knows what this looks like. But Ai isn't attempting to bring her hands down on Frei's head. As she clasps her hands together, sizzling energy leaps out from the join, taking the form of a large, indistinct blade of red-white lightning chi that Ai intends to use to cut right through Frei.
COMBATSYS: Frei blocks Aislinn's Lightning Blade.
[ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ < > ///////////////// ]
Frei 1/----===/=======|=======\-------\0 Aislinn
...now that's a neat trick. Fortunately for Frei that maneuver happens to be one of his favorites, and it passes quickly, giving him time to mount a defense better against anything that follows up. Which is good, because that is not a happy-looking attack coming his way. Still, if anything, he looks... happy about it, grinning wildly as a silvery glow starts to flicker around his hands. "See, that's the pepper! Now just add some witty dialogue and you're all set!"
Reaching up, the monk tries something very dangerous: he *grabs* the blade. The resulting effect is VERY shiny, visually: silver and red light spill around the monk's palms like sparks from a welding torch as his chi and Aislinn's do battle. It seems to last an eternity despite only taking a few seconds, but by the time Aislinn's blade cleaves through Frei's impromptu sword catch, it's much lessened in damage, instead sending him stumbling back a step or two. "VERY nice!"
Hopping on the balls of his feet, the monk looks at Aislinn carefully. "Tell me something," he asks, before dashing in -- and leaving no time for reply. He just natters on as he runs to. "How do you get it red like that? I mean, mine..." And here Frei makes the attempt to plant his foot in Aislinn's thigh, then her tummy, then leaping off in a spiral, a purple bolt of lightning arcing out of the sky to hopefully add some sizzle to that steak. "...is violet."
COMBATSYS: Aislinn blocks Frei's Tenrai Enbu.
[ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ < > ////////////// ]
Frei 1/---====/=======|=======\=------\1 Aislinn
Aislinn cannot prevent the foot-plants---or the leaping. But whatever it is that Frei has in mind as a finisher, the previous part of the attack doesn't throw her off enough to force her to not just throw up her arms and absorb the violet lightning. That she -can- do, and even if her arms are now smoking with energy overcharge.
Of course, there's no answer. Ai wouldn't even have had one, were she in a talkative mood; she doesn't know what makes her chi red-white. It just is. Rather Zen of her, really... she uses the stumble that Frei puts into her step to back up once more, taking another moment to catch her breath...
COMBATSYS: Aislinn gains composure.

Frei 1/---====/=======|=======\-------\0 Aislinn
Hmm. No answer. Getting up and turning back around, the monk regards Aislinn curiously. She is an enigma. And he is going to SOLVE HER. Somehow. Deciding that if she's going to take a break now's the time to do something silly, he walks up to her, cautiously. And then just... stands there. And provided she doesn't smack him right then and there, he furrows his brow, tilts his head, and then just... puts up his fists like a boxer, and bops her one in the nose. Very lightly. He even adds, for the heck of it, "Paaaaanchi!"
COMBATSYS: Aislinn fails to interrupt Quick Punch from Frei with Light Kick.

Frei 1/---====/=======|=======\-------\1 Aislinn
Seeing Frei approach, Aislinn seems determined to do -something-. Unfortunately... that something is just getting hit, again. Now she's hoping no one from NESTS is in the crowd, because if this debacle gets reported, Ai may be headed for project termination. /dev/null is not a good place to be, and even Ai admits to wanting to live. Her head reels back from the blow, but she does keep her feet.
"Awright!" Frei beams, hopping backa step and bouncing on the soles of his feet, a little hyper ball of energy. He's not much taller than Aislinn, after all, so to the audience this probably looks like a pair of schoolkids fighting... and Frei acting considerably younger than his age doesn't help either. "Okay. I can do this. Gotta get back in the rhythm. Come on! Show me what you got!" he encourages Aislinn, and appears to really mean it. If nothing else, he's going to prove that he really does want to see what she's capable of.
COMBATSYS: Frei gathers his will.

Frei 2/<<<<<<</<<<<<<<|=======\-------\1 Aislinn
Aislinn is bleeding from the nose... a trickle that drops down, along her lips, and off her chin. But she doesn't seem to care. She watches Frei hop back, and -still- the hyper little ball of monk just gets no response. There is no play in this audience. If she didn't move and get hit and stuff you could assume she was a mannequin. Oh, and the breathing, that too.
Aislin watches Frei, and, noting the increase in power, does the same--though it isn't as visible, tensing of muscles and arms as a wash of energy clears some of her fatigue and is translated into power... power for what purpose, however?
On Ai's thoughts right now: At the least, she wants to finish this fight out with dignity.
COMBATSYS: Aislinn gathers her will.
[ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ < > //////////////// ]
Frei 2/<<<<<<</<<<<<<<|=======\====---\1 Aislinn
Frei wasn't expecting a response. Not really, anyway. But at this point it's more about the effort than the results. He glances at Ai carefully, and then nods once, flexing his fingers and cupping his hands in front of him, palms inward, where a bright prismatic glow starts to build between his hands. "I've been fighting Alma too often," he says sheepishly over the wind that kicks up around him. "But... you look really unhappy. Fighting should be fun! I mean... a girl your age, you should be enjoying yourself. I wanna push myself as hard as I can this fight... for you as much as for me." As the glow reaches its peak, Frei brings his hands down, his right still glowing brightly, and gives Ai a warm smile. "That's all I had to say. Sorry for pontificating."
The motion that follows is really very simple: the monk thrusts his hand out, palm forward, to get near Aislinn's tummy... and the glow disappears to be replaced by a hellacious chi shockwave of indeterminate elemental origin, enough to blast the astroturf back. It's the best Frei has.
COMBATSYS: Aislinn interrupts Fukami Reikai from Frei with Shining Rondo.

Frei 1/-------/=======|===----\-------\0 Aislinn
Sometimes, there's weathering the storm, whether you're defending against a technique, or simply taking the hit in order to press on. Sometimes, the best defense is an offense. In the seconds between Frei's starting of his best and the explosion of chi that makes the turf ripple, Aislinn is busy calculating. Calculating odds, calculating priorities, percentages. Playing out potential courses of action within her mind, aided by the programming of NESTS.
It all boils down to one conclusion: Risks must be taken if one is to be able to be effective in battle. Aislinn steps back a half-step just before the explosion of chi occurs; her own energy gathering into her hands, making them glow just a moment, white-hot with her own chi... and then she's stepping forward. Frei's seen this before, kind of--she cuts into the wall of chi, deflecting a great deal of it, her own energies slicing out into the still-close Frei... but she doesn't stop there.
She continues to spin-step forward, her hands lashing out, each time stopping just short of Frei, letting the razor-thin circular wave of electric chi cut into Frei. Five times total she goes around, and on the last spin she plants her foot and stops, both hands gesturing upwards, almost like a conductor calling for the finale...
And she is, too, as another blade of chi, this one more distinctly shaped, rises up out of the ground to lance through Frei.
And no, there is no vocalization. Only the snapping, crackling sound of chi and the sounds of impacts.
The monk *senses* that before it actually happens, but it is WAAAY too late to do anything about it. Aislinn may get the satisfaction (provided she even has emotions, which Frei is doubting at this point) of seeing his eyes widen before the continual and elegant slash-slash-slash(-slash-slash) of Aislinn's chi blades tears into quite nicely, the final big blast sending him hurtling across the field and landing in a heap. It's... a good few moments before he gets up, wobbling, and squints his eyes shut tight a moment. "...ow!"
But just as soon he is up again and grinning at Aislinn, giving her a thumbs up. "You've got a really interesting flow of energy," he comments idly, as if he were complimenting her shoes. And just as casually, he starts gathering a glittery ball of golden chi, as before, while he talks. "It's so... precise. Usually people with wind energy tend to be that way, but there's something different about you... maybe. It might just be my imagination."
The sphere completed, the monk grins at Ai, holding it in both hands. "I can tell you, though, that I haven't had a good chi on chi battle in a long time! So thanks for the challenge!" Without further aod he just... chucks the sphere at his opponent, and it wobbles lazily through the air in her direction until it gets close... and then the fireworks really begin, significantly wider and brighter than before.
COMBATSYS: Aislinn blocks Frei's Hizashi Ronde.

Frei 0/-------/-------|====---\-------\0 Aislinn
Like before... There is weathering the storm and there is busting right through. In this case... Aislinn covers up, arms positioned to absorb as much of the force as possible, along with a surge in her aura... she absorbs some of the attack directly, the rest of it deflected or coming through... but she's still standing. And though she would love to press the attack, she knows it wouldn't be wise.
Her head comes up, and her eyes seek Frei's... and now... there's something there. A sense of respect that wasn't there before. Goofy or not, Frei is the real deal.
COMBATSYS: Aislinn gains composure.
[ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ < > /////////// ]
Frei 0/-------/-------|===----\-------\0 Aislinn
Now that earns Frei's respect. Well, 'earns' makes it sound as if he didn't have any for Aislinn before, which is patently false. But she's certainly durable, and the monk -- whose watchword is 'tenacity' in this sort of situation -- certainly can understand where she's coming from. So, in honor of that, he doesn't slow up a bit, gathering another sphere of icy blue-white chi... but this time there's no stupid pratfall behind it. Instead, the monk hurls it at Ai with a manic grin, the sphere flickering through the air and then bursting when it gets near its target, intending to pelt the young Gedo student with countless shards of ice. "Don't take a break now! We're just getting warmed up!"
COMBATSYS: Aislinn slows Hyoushou Rengeki EX from Frei with Needle Shot.
[ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ < > /////// ]
Frei 0/-------/-------|====---\-------\0 Aislinn
Aislinn doesn't really care whether she's earning Frei's respect... for her it's really one-sided; while she assesses people like anyone else, there are only a select few who she really cares about and who she wants to like her, respect her, feed her grapes... whatever.
Aislinn's right hand snaps up, the girl loosing a bolt of energy at the ice grenade--electric energy, of course, a thin beam-like projectile. It shaves off some of the ice grenade, but it isn't enough to defeat it completely, and the remains smack into Aislinn, sending her reeling back.
Frei has no grapes. What he does have is... well, actually at this point he has nothing. Taking a deep breath, he pauses to collect himself, doing a few tai chi hand pushes in a way more placid-looking display than he's had to date... and looking distinctly out of character to boot. Still, Aislinn can probably sense that behind the seemingly stupid-looking soft katas there IS a growing strength there, and it's behind the monk's bright green eyes when he opens them again, fixing them on Aislinn with a grin. "Okay. Round 3. Let's go!"
COMBATSYS: Frei gathers his will.
[ \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ < > /////// ]
Frei 0/-------/---====|====---\-------\0 Aislinn
Once again... this fight is going longer than Aislinn thought it would, but there is no real respite; while Frei is powering up, however, Aislinn is actually using energy, hoping to stem injuries and damp fatigue. It leaves her open for another assault, but she is no berserker, to be mindlessly attacking... thought and consideration go into her actions, and reactions--success or failure, win or lose, she doesn't rush headlong without thinking about it.
COMBATSYS: Aislinn gains composure.

Frei 0/-------/---====|===----\-------\0 Aislinn
Well... he'd expected Aislinn to come back at him when he went on the defensive, but hey... Frei knows how the defensive game goes. He's not so bad at it himself. "You're pretty cautious. I bet you do really well in school," he adds as an afterthought, though those things have... a tenuous relationship at best. Deciding to play it safe, he sets his right foot back, then runs at Aislinn, attempting to drive her down to the ground with a running grab, then flip forward and drive both feet into her tummy and use the young Gedo student as a launching pad. A tricky maneuver, but if it works the payoff could be nice!
COMBATSYS: Aislinn interrupts Strong Throw from Frei with Shining Edge.

Frei 0/-------/=======|=====--\-------\0 Aislinn
By now, Aislinn is tired. It's pure, physical fact; and nothing she has can make her ignore that. She could attempt to avoid Frei and his attack, but she doesn't have confidence in that. So instead... while Frei gets his kick-off, Aislinn's set herself so that it doesn't stagger her as badly as it could, and that also softens the blow.
Then she turns, to face the airborne Frei, and--
Yes, it's the upraised arms, the blade of redwhite chi, slicing upwards to catch Frei in midair.
But ow that hurt. Very, very badly.
Once again, Aislinn is rewarded with a brief look of surprise on Frei's face just as the blades of chi slash through the air, sending him... impressively skywards. Perhaps it bears mentioning that he's pretty light, so it doesn't take much. However, this time it's *his* turn to give Aislinn a little shock (maybe). At the apex of the blast that sent him up and away, the monk suddenly tucks and rolls, doing a mid-air somersault that puts him face-front toward the groundbound Aislinn. Spreading both arms wide, he lashes out with a blazingly quick scythe of energy, a dark purple crescent surrounded by an orbiting silver spark that leaps out at his opponent with some due speed, leaving the monk free to hopefully land in a handstand and roll to his feet. "HYA!"
COMBATSYS: Aislinn dodges Frei's Tsukikage.

Frei 1/-------/=======|=====--\-------\0 Aislinn
There's a brief thought... that Aislinn could block the attack. Or simply... endure. But neither thought is palatable to the young woman. She knows, in her condition, that there is likely 0% chance that she would survive and be able to do anything meaningful. So instead she crouches, summoning her physical strength, and leaps backwards, the energy splashing down where she was... and then she lands... and energy crackles around her body, weak but growing somewhat stronger, as Aislinn stands tall once more. She may go down... but she'll go down trying.
COMBATSYS: Aislinn gathers her will.

Now that IS a surprise. Frei doesn't use that attack very often... mainly because it's exhausting and almost entirely speed with no power. Raising an eyebrow curiously, he decides... two can play at the defensive game, and decides to take a deep breath and center himself, gathering his power for another strike. "I can do this all day if you can!" he singsongs, wind once again resonating with his chi as he summons his inner force.
COMBATSYS: Frei gathers his will.

Frei 1/---====/=======|=======\=------\1 Aislinn
Can he? It's quite likely; while Aislinn is quite tough and resilient, and able to go in a fight much longer than some of her physical age might, full humans are, by and large, just as resilient--and with a wellspring of emotions to draw from, even more tenacious than Ai can be. Still... she actually reacts to the singsong, with just a little nod... and a continued drawing of power. She can do it 'all day' as well... at least for now.
COMBATSYS: Aislinn gathers her will.

Well, she can't be taunted -- not that Frei was trying all that hard -- but she's not really DOING anything either. "The fans are gonna start throwing veggies soon, you know," he adds conversationally, thinking about how to go about this. Finally, he just shrugs. Yeah, she's probably saving for some scary super mega ultra blast to blow him to smithereens, but Aislinn's taken a lot of risks in this fight... so Frei's not above a few of his own. Dashing forward, he makes a short leap and snag for Aislinn's shoulder. If that works? She'll find herself swung in a full aerial 360 before being faceslammed right into the ground, a burst of earthy chi in the form of spectral leaves adding to the impact precipitously.
COMBATSYS: Aislinn endures Frei's Daichi Kudaki EX.

Frei 0/-------/--=====|>>>>>>>\>>>>>>>\2 Aislinn
Grabbed. Swung. Slammed. It all hurts, chi or not; Aislinn once again gasps, and once again it's involuntary, a product of pure pain and physical reaction. She bounces off the ground... and just has enough sense of mind to attempt one last thing... one last attack. One last attempt to redeem some of her credit. Touching down, she pushes off with both feet, lunging at Frei, leading with a left fist aimed for the Frei-person's gut. Is she slow? Unsteady? Sure... but she might hit anyways. Who knows?
COMBATSYS: Aislinn can no longer fight.

Frei 1/-----==/=======|
... Contact. It's a last-ditch burst of strength that powers Aislinn through this last technique; were she a robot one would hear gears grinding, joints protesting in shrill, metallic voices. But her body is meat, and the protests are silenced through force of will.
On contact, Aislinn digs her feet in, and transfers all her momentum to her arms... which begin pounding into Frei's stomach repeatedly, swift, hard blows, like a boxer slamming in repeated body blows against an opponent... only sped up to about 32x speed. Her arms blur, the rapid-fire blows almost lifting Frei up off the ground--and then there's a moment's pause, as Ai draws her hands back...
And then she slams Frei with both hands, a twin-palm attack right to the chest. Whether it knocks him away, or he falls over.. Aislinn is dropping to one knee, exhausted, sweaty, panting as quietly as she can.
Not what he was expecting, for sure.
Frei had presumed that the last ditch effort would finally put Aislinn down for the count... and while he had assumed that she would have some sort of last offering, he didn't think it would be quite so FAST. He doesn't have time to do a lot of Batman "OOF!" "BIFF!" "POW!"ing; instead he just sucks up the punches and goes flying, righting himself in midair with EXTREME effort and landing in a crouch, skidding across the grass and leaving a nice visible trail. Finally he stands up straight and brushes off his shirt. "...wow. Nice."
Walking over toward Aislinn, he reaches where she is and takes a few deep breaths -- he's up and fine, but that still stung like all hell -- before kneeling down a bit and offering her a hand. "Well? Did you have fun?"
COMBATSYS: Frei takes no action.

COMBATSYS: Frei has ended the fight here.
Ai's vision clears... in time to see Frei offering her a hand. If he only knew... the hand is obviously refused, as Ai pushes herself to a standing position. There are very few people that can lay hands on Aislinn -without- her going into a combat mindset... and Frei isn't one of them. She actually takes a half-step away from Frei... then turns to look at him.
"It was educational," is what she offers, dusting her clothing off, turning to walk away... Neo League officials and fans are closing in and she'd rather have nothing to do with them. Yes, it was another loss... but even losses, she knows, can be educational. And she'll be spending another long night in the medlab... alone with her thoughts and her ability to review the fight and see what she can do to get better.
Frei's hand is withdrawn without incident; he knows how fighter's pride works, even if that's not what this really is, and instead he folds his hands behind him, swaying his linked arms back and forth as he watches Aislinn troop off. Giving a little wave to the crowd, he keeps his focus on the retreating Gedo student. "You didn't answer the question," he mumbles, knitting his brow before starting to walk off. He needs a hot bath. "...what a weird kid."
