Neo League 226 - #229: Takuma vs Guy

Description: League Fight! Kyokugenryuu vs. Bushin-Ryuu Ninjutsu in front of the BIGGEST BALL OF TWINE in MINNESOTA. Yeeaaaah, dat's RIGHT! (Winner: Takuma)

The ninja stands alone. Well, sort of alone. Not really alone at all, actually, as there's a camera crew, random spectators, and what have you here at the Biggest Ball of Twine in Minnesota. But Guy stands as dramatically as if he were alone, expression stoic, arms crossed, wondering what the hell kind of a place this is to have a fight. Whoever's in charge of picking locations has clearly lost it.

Takuma, on the other hand... he loves it. The biggest ball of twine in Minnesota? Who knew America had such amazing things? Takuma's been observing the twine for a good ten minutes, admiring the size, the tightness of weave... the subtle hairiness of the twine. Ha ha... yes, it is awesome.
Perhaps if he wins this fight, he'll take the twine home. Just roll it across the country and onto a boat. Speaking of the fight... he turns to look at Guy and just... well, he shakes his head a little. The guy looks so stern, so stoic... almost like Saishu on those rare five-second occasions.
"Youngster! Are you ready for this?" cries the Kyokugen master as he finally enters the 'ring' and then finds his starting spot.

Is this guy for real? Guy stares at Takuma admiring the standing monument to the mankind's ability to persevere and create things of such immense worthlessness.

However, one thing is for certain. If Guy knew of Takuma's sinister plot to take the twine ball for himself, the ninja would practically be honor-bound to prevent it. It may be stupid, but it's AMERICAN stupid. Go go ninja patriotism. So sneaky, it can exist in hypothetical circumstances!

In a more concrete sense, Guy's expression doesn't change upon Takuma's entrance. He just nods, unfolds his arms, and pauses for a moment. Just a moment, and then he's off, dashing head on at Takuma. Turning when close, he pushes out with one besneakered foot straight from the hip, driving it toward Takuma's midsection.

COMBATSYS: Guy has started a fight here.

Takuma probably won't really take the twine ball. But if Guy can't stop him... WHO CAN?!? Certainly not mall security; even though Guy's kick is more swift than strong, Takuma's 200% certain that he kicks harder than those rent-a-cops.
But that swift kick means nothing to Takuma; he parries the kick away with a forearm, and a grunt, a long, low kiai; and then he's 'stepping up', so to speak--stepping into Guy's charge, thrusting out a left straight punch, a classic karate reverse punch aimed for the ninja's chest.

COMBATSYS: Guy dodges Takuma's Medium Punch.

Takuma           0/-------/-------|-------\-------\0              Guy

Of course he won't. For even should Takuma try to abscond the Twine Ball, the Twine Ball has ways of protecting itself. Like being huge, and quite a ways away from either coast. And maybe a dark sentience, biding its time until it may rise up and destroy its human oppressors.

Ahem.

Though somewhat dismayed at seeing Takuma deal with his kick so easily, Guy isn't overly worried. In fact, it was more a probing attack than anything else, an effort to ascertain his opponent start to wear down his guard.

And it served that first purpose very, very well. That one deflection told Guy one thing: Takuma's really good at this whole fighting thing. Be careful. So when Takuma's retaliatory punch comes, Guy is already bending backward, throwing his weight away from his opponent so that he can backflip to a safe range. The punch ruffles his midsection.

A few yards away, the ninja once again comes to his feet, recovered from his evasion. He wastes no time with words: there is only action. Specifically, the action of him dashing forward again and driving his elbow in toward Takuma's midsection.

COMBATSYS: Takuma counters Medium Punch from Guy with Mouko Burai Gan.

Takuma           0/-------/-----==|===----\-------\0              Guy

Takuma would be positively glowy-hearted at Guy's assessment of his combat abilities... and the fight's just begun! Takuma has a similar observation, +1 -- Guy is fast. Of course, he could tell that, but the way he dodges the punch seals it. Does that piss Takuma off? Hell no.
This ought to be FUN. And the guy's not out to -literally- hear his head off, like Grant was... but that elbow.
Oh, that elbow. What it meets is not Takuma's midsection... it meets Takuma, crouched, with a forearm up to parry that elbow away, to open up Guy's midsection, and from there?
From there it's a simple push up and forward with the legs and feet, a twist and a lunge, and Takuma gets to plant his other arm into Guy's chest, for reals.

If Guy even needed a confirmation that he's in for a tough time, that was it right there. His strike, knocked away so effortlessly, and then the punch that comes in before he even has a chance to react...in a word, ow. As he gets knocked back, Guy's face barely changes, except to frown just a little bit more severely.

Twisting about in the air to land on his feet, however, Guy's not ready to give an inch to something like that. Immediately he dashes forward, leaping into the air and twisting about to bring his heel crashing down in the general vicinity of Takuma's head and shoulders.

COMBATSYS: Takuma blocks Guy's Hayagake.

Head and Shoulders? Hey, Takuma uses that, it keeps his hair silky clean and dandruff free. What happens is like an advertisement for the shampoo, too, as the kick comes slamming in... against Takuma's forearm, once again, the impact shaking that silky smooth hair... and dislodging nary a white speck. Because they -don't exist-. Takuma pushes the kick away again and chuckles, springing back a little bit, landing in a low crouch.
"You've got potential, kid..." he says, meaning to be complimentary, though it may not sound like it. From the low crouch he brings up his arms, crossed at the wrists, and utters a low, undulating kiai as golden energy springs up in a writhing circle around his feet.

COMBATSYS: Takuma gathers his will.

With his kick stopped, Guy makes the most of things and pushes off, flipping backward away from the non-existant threat of dandruff. At least if Guy wants to put Takuma into a headlock or something, he won't have to worry about getting any on him.

"Hmph." Guy's response to Takuma upon landing may involve him being called 'kid', or it might just be general frustration regards to the strong defense put up by Takuma so far. He'll keep trying, however. Stepping in, Guy reaches out for one of Takuma's upraised arms, seeking to twist and pull it over his shoulder. From there, it's all a matter of keeping momentum going, using it as a point to lever Takuma up and over and then over there, perhaps into the Ball of Twine.

COMBATSYS: Guy successfully hits Takuma with Seoi Nage.

Not the TWINE! Takuma's not... surprised, exactly, that Guy keeps on rushing in, but maybe the speed shows a little more than he expected, as he gets flung over the shoulder... but he hit the twine ball, just barely avoiding it, but taking the fall worse than he expected. Still, he gets up again, and just grins.
"That's it. That's the mustard! Give me more, kid!" he cries, gesturing at Guy to beckon him onwards. Okay, first he takes a few steps away from the twine ball. Wouldn't want to harm the... Minnesotan monument.

COMBATSYS: Takuma focuses on his next action.

Look at the ball of twine. Look at it. Having a dude thrown into it isn't going to hurt it. It's massive, and tightly-wrapped, and...twiney. If anything, the person getting thrown at it better beware!

Still, Guy's in no hurry to go rushing in again at this point. Takuma wants Guy to come to him, that's plain. Therefore, Guy will do no such thing. He takes a careful step back, closely observing Takuma, waiting for the man to make his move.

COMBATSYS: Guy focuses on his next action.

Takuma           1/-------/=======|====---\-------\0              Guy

It's heartening to Takuma to see that Guy isn't just a foolhardy young buck. Too often, younger fighters get their blood up and lose sight of what's in front of them, and that is one of the biggest ways to lose a fight...
Of course, not acting can be just as fatal, and now that Takuma's prepared himself, he's going to act. Grabbing one of the Tensabarrier poles that -isn't- connected to a velvet rope, Takuma grins fiercely and shouts, "Hey, kid!"
"Catch." And then he slings the whole assembly at Guy.

COMBATSYS: Takuma successfully hits Guy with Large Thrown Object.

Takuma           1/------=/=======|=======\=------\1              Guy

There he goes, calling Guy 'kid' again. If Guy weren't already scowling, you can bet that would drive him into it. He knows he's supposed to respect his elders and all, but damn. It's not easy when it seems like every old person he comes across is crazy.

See, like that, right there. He's throwing one of those little pole things? Crazy. So crazy that it works. Guy's caught more or less totally off-guard, and the pole crashes into him directly in the chest, sending him stumbling backward. NOW his scowl deepens. He's not happy about that at all, but for now, it's his best option to stay back for a minute and try to recover from that impact.

COMBATSYS: Guy gains composure.

Takuma           1/------=/=======|=======\-------\0              Guy

He's got Guy on the defensive now? That's interesting... Takuma hadn't expected that. But staying back... not an option, oh no. Takuma lunges forward, pursuing the ninjaman, pressing the attack... snapping his hands out to try and grab the ninja by the shoulders as he closes in... for a massive, worldrocking headbutt. If he gets the grab. If he doesn't, he might look a little silly.

COMBATSYS: Guy fails to interrupt Strong Throw from Takuma with Bushin Gourai Kyaku EX.

Takuma           1/-----==/=======|====---\-------\0              Guy

For a moment, as Takuma comes in, there is a moment of incharacteristic indecision. Guy starts to move in to punch, then changes his mind at the last second to kick, instead. Suffice to say, at that point it's far too late. Takuma's headbutt slams home, sending Guy reeling backward, clutching at the side of his head with one hand.

Takuma promises a longer, better-composed pose this time, that last one was pathetic. The headbutt connects solidly, and that ringing sound -isn't- in Takuma's head... some jerk little kid is hitting a gong in front of the 'Chinese Novelties' store, despite the admonishments of his parents and all. Kids these days, havin' kids. But it doesn't distract Takuma. Were he of a softer, more sympathetic type, he might advise Guy not to second-guess himself... and he might yet after the fight... but first, there's a fight to win, and how. Takuma steps in after the headbutt, snapping out a quick front kick aimed for Guy's stomach, accompanied with a loud "HYAH!"

COMBATSYS: Takuma successfully hits Guy with Light Kick.

At this point, Guy's lost any semblance of concentration that he had. Takuma's headbutt hit /hard/, after all. He's still dizzy. So dizzy, in fact, that the ninja isn't even able to start to put up a defense against Takuma's kick. It sends him stumbling backward again, whereupon Guy falls on his butt roughly, clutching his stomach.

Then, sitting there...Guy doesn't do anything. He just sits there, like a log.

COMBATSYS: Guy drops his guard to recover.

A sign of weakness?!? Or... is it something else? Is Takuma right to be wary? Guy probably has something up his sleeve... but can it possibly be good enough to overcome the Power of Kyokugenryuu?!? The power of... TENGU?!? (tm)
In the ancient words of the Tootsie Roll Owl... let's... find out. How? Well, it's simple, see. The plan is, you see, the plan is... Takuma's gonna head over to Guy's sitting form. He's gonna look real apologetic, and he's going to look kind of sheepish.
And then he's going to try and pick Guy up, by the shoulders, haul the ninja up... and then just repeatedly knee him a lot in the stomach before jump-kicking the ninja like a flimsy soft pin board.
That's the plan, anyways.

COMBATSYS: Takuma successfully hits Guy with Shouran Kyaku.

Takuma approaches. Guy sits there. Takuma picks Guy up. Guy makes no attempt to resist. Takuma knees the crap out of Guy. Guy ends up flying back, landing in a heap. Blood trickles out of the corner of his mouth, and it's sheer force of will that keeps him from coughing on the blood.

Slowly pushing himself up, Guy shakes his head, sending little red flecks to either side, steadying himself on a pole similar to the one that got thrown at him by Takuma earlier. He then proceeds to take it and dash forward clumsily at Takuma, swinging it around in a wide arc, stumbling and partially falling to one side even as he does so.

COMBATSYS: Guy can no longer fight.

Were Takuma SO INCLINED, he might see a flashback image of Cody swinging an impromptu assembly of pipe and concrete much in the same way as Guy did, and might make the connection between the convict and the ninja (marriage? Or just live-in lovers?) But he's too busy catching the pole between side and arm, making a show of bravado by catching the pole and not budging a single goddamned American inch. A stunning show from the contender, surely, and Takuma would be the first to tell you that the fight may have looked one-sided, it wasn't really that he had an easy time of it. The pole barrier is dropped, and caught, and even as the Neo League announcer is shouting about the victory, Takuma's only got one thing on his mind... that twine ball. Turning to the League announcer, he snatches the microphone and asks just one question.
He sweeps a hand at the ball and says, "I'd like to buy this." And that, my friends... is that.
