League Fight Today! Banners around the flower garden read, as a camera crew waits ready to film the festivites. No doubt Ken Masters has just paid for a plethora of new computers for Seijyun High and perhaps a few christmas bonuses for the staff next year, by negotiating this as the arena for the next NEO LEAGUE Battle.
And who should be the first contender in this, a momentus battle of skill and wits? Dan Hibiki, this time sporting his Citrus Orange Gi and blue wristguards, with every intent to show the gathered student body who have come for this special exhibition match just how powerful Saikyo Ryuu really is. Already he's gladhanding people and passing out autographs, waiting to see who his opponent is, and gathering his strength for the gripping match ahead.
Saikyo is in the house, Babeh.
When a fighter loses to a guy like Benimaru, he goes to a very special hell. At least, that's Adel's first impression here. The flowers are nice, sure... but the Saikyo Master in the (metaphorically) painfully bright gi is another matter. /This/ is the guy he's supposed to fight? The young Bernstein looks to take the fight a lot more seriously than Dan, just by virtue of attire. Adel's dressed in basic black, from sleeveless shirt to loose military-style pants, and of course... heavy, steel-toed boots. Let's hear it for teenage evil empire-heir angst. Perhaps the power of Saikyo is to disorient with clashing colour schemes. The blonde simply... eyes Hibiki as he strides calmly up the central path, into the area cordoned off for their fight, "You're Dan Hibiki?"
... despite Dan's amazing fame, Adelheid had never heard of, nor seen this guy. The disbelief in his inquiry likely conveys that well enough. Still.... "Anyone willing to walk down the street in /that/ must not be afraid of anything." Adelheid muses softly to himself as he turns away and walks to the edge of the 'arena', drawing a deep breath before turning back to Dan, "Let's see what you can do." Make the best of it, right?

Dan grins and says, "Dan Hibiki is the na--whoa, buddy where'd you come from ROTC? It seems like you should be off fighting wars, and not wasting your time in tournaments. I've seen every kind of fighter, but a Military man entering a podunk league like this? C'mon, sponsored by Ken Masters? It can't be that great. That guy's all style and no substance. Not like SAIKYO.... Style, Substance, and your ass kicked. If you lose, consider it your first lesson, and I'll give you a discount at the Dojo in Southtown. Twenty percent off and you can fight just like me. Dan Hibiki!"
After that display of self-assured confidence, Dan tucks into a ball and rolls into the arena, before popping into his mockery of the Ansatsuken stance.%b%bOne hand comes up to lick a thumb, and slick back his eyebrows, while the other moves forward, palm up, before those deft fingers pull backwards and Dan calls to Adelheid, "C'mon! C'mon! Let's get it started!"
Clearly Dan has confidence enough to give Adelheid the first whack at things.

"It's not the league I'm interested in." Adelheid admits, the slightly immature tenor still sounding with a casual sort of confidence, "Just the fighters in it." The challenge of the thing. Who cares what points Ken Masters puts on the TV screen when it's all done with? Well, he was going to invite Dan to start it off, but... there seems to be no limit to the Saikyo master's exhuberant overconfidence. Fine, "Just focus on beating me first!" The young Bernstein exclaims, suddenly launching himself forward in a surprisingly quick sprint as the fight begins. Hibiki wants to get it started?
Adelheid jumps forward, coming in at Dan with his right palm outstretched, seeking to simply clamp that hand over his crazy-gi'ed opponent's face. Should that lock hold, well... it's not the shove Dan needs to worry about, so much as the torrent of silvery chi that erupts in an explosive lance from the 'R' heir's hand.

Dan Hibiki throws his hands in front of his face, and plays slap-tag with Adelheid, while his body propels him away from the 'R' heir's attack. His wristguards blazing as the potential energy chars them from their blue color to a deep and hearty black. This causes Dan to give Adelheid some slight regard, before he shrugs, "Eh. Parlor tricks. I've seen them all. I made them all. I'm the root of all fighting, and that's today's lesson. Prepare yourself for an assault that you'll never remember to forget!"
What?
Twisting backwards on his hip, before launching himself forward, Dan Hibiki snaps out three very easy to spot, but very powerful looking roundhouses, punctuating two with his name, in a simple rhtyhm.

"KICK!"
Oh yeah, Dan. Do it and do it right.

The problem with weaving away from a powerful kick is timing it just right. Just now... Adelheid doesn't. Dazzled by the neon orange missile, the young Bernstein gets battered back by the trio of kicks, lurching away and into a crouch at the finale. Ugh, "Not bad." He admits. This crazy-looking guy packs some punch, at least. But then, Adel has some punches of his own. Two of them announce his renewed commitment to the fight, as he shoves forward and launches a underhand left in for Hibiki's ribs, punctuated by a potent right uppercut, meant to carry Adel right back to a ready defense. None the worse for wear, right? The bruises he can feel rising already beg to differ, "But it'll take a lot more than that!"
... hey, Dan doesn't have trademark on /all/ the world's arrogance.

The mixed up Hibiki suddenly feels like his ribs are on fire, and that's probably because he just got punched solidly in them. "OGOOOUUFRHGH," he cries out, having attempted to steel his defenses to Adelheid's assault and just missing out on doing it. To add insult to injury, his muscles tightening right after he got punched, serves to make the pain blaze around him further.
As he goes reeling back, his eyes focus on the other fighter and says, "Hey, that's nice. You know, for a little girl you're an excellent fighter. I guess that uniform of yours is just for show though, eh? GET READY! HERE I COME!"
Dan hops forward into range when he feels confident again, and lets loose one of his pathetic little fireballs. It's like a slug tied to a snail, tied to a turtle, and none of these animals are eating their wheaties. But who knows? He's got fists of god, right?
"GADOUKEN!"

Adelheid stands his ground, tightening one thin black leather glove on his fist and eyeing Dan's recovery. Ah, now this is more interesting... if a bit disappointing. The surge of chi is met with a thrust of the young Bernstein's palm, his own chi erupting from his hand, swirling forth into a silver disc in the blink of an eye, the swirling wall of wind-chi crackling with grey energy as Dan's paft of energy collides dead center with the opposing barrier.
The Dark Barrier crackles, it pulses, as Dan's miniscule but formidable attack punches into it.... and then coursing silver light implodes around the Gadouken, whipping winds assimilating it as the barrier dissipates and the power erupts right back in at Dan. Let's hear it for dodgeball.

Dan blinks as he sees his fireball coming right back at him, and puts his index finger up, "Wh--," litterally stunned speechless by Adelheid's display for just a bit longer than a second, "--at the hell?!?"
Bringing his index finger down, he reaches into the left side of his Gi, and pulls out one of his photographs, holding it up in front of his face and hiding behind it.
It doesn't do much to stop the flow of AWESOME SAIKYO POWER from colliding with him like nobody's business. But it does burn off a little bif ot the excess energy, causing it to hurt a lot less than it would've otherwise.
In Dan Hibiki's mind. This is a victory!
It's Adelheid's turn, "What the hell?" The young fighter mutters as Hibiki's answer to the returned volley of chi is to... hold his picture up and eat it. Alright. Adel will just keep playing it his way, though...
Rushing in on Dan, Adel seeks to simply grab the front of that orange fashion atrocity and snap a potent kick to the side of Hibiki's knee. The blonde's follow-up to that would be simple, but forceful, Adel seeking to simply spin the off-balance Dan around, and shove the BURNING SAIKYO MASTER face-first into a flowerbed, "You'll need more than your ego for this fight!" ... He doesn't know Dan, does he?

Dan indeed eats dirt. Delicious, flower enriched dirt. Probably no doubt full of earthworms, and possibly ladybugs. It's a taste he's familiar with, but not in love with. From this position, with his face in 'dirtland' Dan pushes himself up and looks at Adelheid, "Hey, man! What kind of cheap techniques are you using? Take this for real! It's a serious fight. Not variety hour."
During all this shouting, Dan launches himself into the air, bringing his fist up by his face and screaming out, "YAHOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Before trying to connect his knee to any part of Adelheid's body by way of association.
Painful Association.

"Variety makes for more effective fighting ability." Adelheid answers, all too seriously. It is a militaristic attitude, apparently well-ingrained in the youthful warrior. His answer to Dan's aerial assault is far more direct, however, Adel simply dropping into a crouch... and then launching himself in at Dan. Sure, Hibiki's knee hurts with the collision...
But likely not as badly as it hurts as Adelheid drives both his bootheels up before him, inverting himself into the trainwreck for the sole purpose of crashing both his feet into the flying Dan's chest, to send him right back the way he came. Mmm, flowerbed, "Hence, catching on to that trick." The young Bernstein observes a bit smugly as he touches down.
Dan looks up from the flowerbed and grumbles briefly, before getting to a seated position, "You know? That kind of hurt. I take it back, you're not fighting like a little girl, you're fighting like a grandma. You're kind of bony. Really, you should think about putting on some weight, maybe not be so bony? Besides, Saikyo hasn't even begun to fight."
With that Dan's tucked into a ball again, rolling towards the son of Rugal like he's on a mission. Because he is on a mission.
When he gets close enough, he pops out of the roll, into a corkscrewed crouch before all of a sudden his fighter's spirit is released in Adelheid's generalized direction. A violent uppercut the likes of which probably everyone has seen before. Surely not one that was copied off of anyone. Totally one-hundred percent original. The corkscrew dragon fist of the east...
"KOURYUKEN!"
COMBATSYS: Adelheid dodges Dan's Kouryuken.

As Dan rolls in, rolls out, and unloads in that powerful uppercut, Adelheid twists away, leaping a few steps away from the ascending Hibiki, "Please. You must have techniques more interesting than that..." he notes, and taunts, wanting to see something truly noteworthy from Dan... aside from the attitude. Maybe there's something there, but it's not what the young Bernstein is looking to learn, "/Show/ me something." As if Dan hadn't been trying to do just that, right?
Adelheid simply raises his fists, narrowed eyes observing Dan rather intently, focused on taking in... and then taking apart his opponent's style.

Dan turns around to look at his whiffed attack and frowns deeply, "Huh. You're pretty good. You sure could learn a lot, but I have to admit you're not as bad as I originally thought. Corkscrewing down again, Dan stands a brief distance away from Adelheid, and launches himself forward at a slight angle, his uppercut coming out again in a fury of his spirit. Whether or not this first uppercut hits? It doesn't much matter, because he launches out a second one almost instantly. What words describe what's going on here?
KOURYUU REKKAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"

Ah, this one comes out a fair bit quicker, and a whole lot harder. Exactly what Adelheid was looking for, even if that's small comfort as Dan catches the backpedalling Bernstein with his fist, twice over even! His head cracking back, Adelheid is subsequently launched up and back, landing in a rather painful skid which doesn't stop until his head cracks up against the opposite planter, "Good." Adel murmurs, spitting some blood off to his side as he pushes to his feet, "MY TURN!!!" And then he's in motion, running full-tilt in at Dan.
At the last moment, Adelheid launches himself skyward, his right boot arcing up and around in one mighty, rising roundhouse, the swath of that kick cutting in for Dan's chest and face, a brilliant wave of silver chi coursing to life along the entire path of his boot, his foot enveloped in the focused power, which reaves a near-perfect blade behind Adel's roundhousing ascent.

Dan is caught under Adelheid's boot and all the energy that accompanies it, sent across the ground by the sheer strength of the assault. For a moment he sits staring up at the sky and murmuring in gargled tongues, and the crazed gibberings of a lunatic. Okay, the crazed gibberings of a lunatic who isn't Dan Hibiki. A doomsayer on the street.
And after that, his eyes blink. Is this the last of Dan Hibiki? Can he even stand up? Will he be able to continue the fight?!?

Well now. Dan getting cut by the force of his kick was expected... that Hibiki would be picking himself up afterwards was not. Adelheid touches down lightly, despite his booted feet... and as Dan begins to recover, well, Adel shows him no mercy, "Resilient. But we're done here." Charging the Saikyo master once more, the young Bernstein simply seeks to haul him up, and heft him off the ground with one arm to Dan's gi. That suspension would last only a moment, however...
Because the real point here is to drive an elbow, and then a straight fist, into Dan's ribs, sending him back to the ground.

The beaten body of Dan Hibiki is a work of art indeed. His face bleeds in a couple places, and it looks like his eyes can't really open up that much, but he continues to stare Adelheid down in a show of defiance. His knees shake tremulously, and his whole body seems to shiver, but he still acts like he's the man. "COME RIGHT ON, GRANDMA!"
After that shout of exuberance, he's punched in the rib, Adelheid's energy exploding inside of him.
As he lands on the ground he tucks into a very tight roll, towards Adelheid, and once again his signature corkscrew shows up, the beaten hibiki mustering every iota of strength he has in his body together, and thrusting upwards into the air. Another dual uppercut that he hopes will take the wind out of Adelheid's sails.
If it doesn't? Dan's pretty much boned. But just look at that fighting spirit? That's what Saikyo is all about!

Dan's /still/ standing? Well, that's enough surprise to make Adelheid's attempt at counteracting the second trip on the fist rollercoaster rather null and void. He takes each uppercut full-on, reeling backwards a bit more dramatically, this time. After all, he was feeling pretty decent before the first, but going for this spin... he's already a lot more battered. And the spray of blood as he flies away after the final strike is testament to that, the young Bernstein falling in a heap a short distance away.
He's really not that bad off... he's taken a lot worse, and pulled himself up, but Adelheid is down just long enough for Hibiki to come out of this the victor. Adel does manage to stand afterwards, albeit shakily, "You've got strength." He admits, apparently willing to give Dan some measure of grudging respect... even if his opinion on Hibiki's style hasn't changed much.
Dan looks at Adelheid with a lot of respect and he nods, "Hey, free lesson. Like I said, you want some schooling in Saikyo, the Dojo is in southtown. You've got a twenty-percent discount on every lesson you can think about. It'll be good for you. Build some character, right? That's all there is to it. I like your style. You fight well. Don't take it so bad that you lost. No one can withstand the might of a Saikyo Master."
"Because Saikyo fights for truth, justice, and the all powerful father in us all! Y'SHAAAAAA!"
