Sydney, Australia. A city of many people. People who have jobs and do things and probably have a lot of culture and stuff. ... Okay, so Hinata knows jack all about Australia aside from guys with boomerangs and kangaroos and stuff, but you can't blame her really. She'd never even been outside Japan up until a couple of months ago!
She's so getting her tourist on before the Neo League match today, though. Guidebook in one hand and camera in the other, she snaps another picture of the inside of the great Sydney Opera House. "What a funny looking building. It's all weird on the outside, but inside it's just any other theater!" And so it is, with rows of tiered seats upholstered in a dark, plush fabric all facing a broad stage in front of a velvety purple curtain. The house lights are on low, giving the stage a proper air of importance for what's about to happen on it.
It's where Hinata gets to have a league fight today! She quickly stows her camera and guidebook into her standard issue Taiyo backpack, skipping up onto the stage in one gigantic leap. Ah yes. In the spotlight. Where she ought to be? ... Maybe. If she wasn't so camera shy. The Sunshine Girl straightens her bow self-consciously when she sees the Neo League crew setting up cameras. No lighting technicians necessary this time. They've got tons of lights just hanging up there!
But such is the globetrotting lifestyle of a professional fighter! Much like a big tournament, the Neo League is a great opportunity to travel to exciting new places, and meet new people. Also to punch said new people in the face! Admittedly, Sie Kensou hasn't been to Australia much either, and it's almost a surprise that he's having another League match at /all/, given the slump he's been in lately. Yes, it's definitely been a slump... But no longer! No, he's determined, he's confide--Okay, well, he's /determined/. Especially after the talk he had with that fortune teller lady the other day. This is no time to get overwhelmed with self-doubt!
It's not long after Hinata arrives and leaps up onto the stage that her opponent does too. The Chinese martial artist, who is running late - again - comes barrelling down the aisle at top speed, mentally kicking himself for making such a bad start of his, well, fresh start. Still, he has to admit that they've got some pretty good restaurants here in Sydney! The Psycho Soldier makes it all the way to the stage, before he too leaps up for a dramatic entrance, doing a forward flip before landing on his feet on the stage.
Or, that's how Kensou /planned/ it. What actually happens is that his Keds get terrible, terrible traction on the stage, and he ends up in an uncontrolled skid that eventually turns into a tumble, ending when he hits the curtain at the back of the stage, the purple fabric rippling from where the psychic teen ran into it. Ooops.
"..." Hinata could have sworn something just went past her, made a loud thwack onto the hardwood stage, then made a sort of flump noise against the curtain behind her. She turns slowly, an uneasy look on her face and a sweatdrop on the side of her head. "..." she says again, somehow putting a little more feeling into it.
*poke* The Wakaba girl experimentally pokes Kensou in the side of the head to make sure he's not, like, dead or something. Crouching down next to him with her chin in one palm, she does it again. *pooooooke* "Hey. Heeeeeey. Are you alive still?" Her head cocks to one side, frowning a little. Well this is a great start, isn't it? The fight hasn't even started yet, and somebody's already hurt themselves. At least he just looks like one of the stagehands or something. He's just so... average.
...Someone is poking Kensou in the head. More than once! "Nnn... Jus' five more minutes," he says, rather woozily, having clearly totally forgotten where he was and what he was doing. "I was just havin' this great dream 'bout Athena, an' she was--" Waaaaaaait a minute. Kensou cracks open an eye, looking over to see Hinata, and then he remembers what's up, lifting his head to look around. "...I'm okay!" he calls out, leaping to his feet so fast it hardly seems like he bothered with the intervening space, dusting off his gloved hands and laughing a little too loud. "Just a l'il tumble, but I'm okay, an' ready to fight!!" Oh yeah, that was embarassing.
"..." Hinata says with resignation. Why does this guy remind her of someone? Kinda Batsu-ish, in a way. "Mooou.." The Sunshine Girl stands up and stretches her arms over her head. So he's here for a fight too? Either it's some wild coincidence or.. he's her opponent for today!
"Alright then! If you're sure you're okay!" she pipes happily, giving Kensou a hearty slap on the back like they were old friends. "I'm Hinata Wakaba! Nice to meet you!" An index finger rests lightly against her cheek and she strikes her absolute most perfect and well-practiced 'cute Taiyo girl' pose! She made sure it was perfect in the mirror at home! Being genki is hard work, y'know.
The hearty slap on the back makes Kensou stagger a little, with a surprised rush of air out of his lungs. He turns to see the 'cute Taiyo girl' pose, and honestly... He looks a little bewildered, but that might be him catching his breath. "S'nice t'meetcha, Hinata," he says after a moment, his expression changing to a grin. "I'm Sie Kensou, an' I think I'm your opponent for today." Since there doesn't seem to be any other possibilities there, no. "So... Guess I'd better wish ya good luck, huh?" he suggests, backing up a bit to give the Sunshine Girl some room.
"A pleasure!" Hinata beams a thousand-watt smile back at Kensou. She would've offered a handshake, but instead just gives a little bow from the waist. She smooths out her Taiyo skirt and refixes her headband just so. Everything is in readiness! "Good luck to you too, and don't go easy on me, 'kay?" An energetic thumbs-up gets shot in Kensou's direction.
The fight coordinators look back and forth between the two fighters on stage, nodding to the technicians to perform one final equipment check. It'd be disastrous to lose even one of these fights, since they can all go on the DVD box set which is currently up to volume 10! At last, he gives a nod and takes a comfortable seat in the audience. The house lights dim and several spotlights snap on suddenly.
"What the-?!" Hinata squawks, shielding her eyes as the theater goes dark except for some very bright lights focused on her and Kensou. And is that... a drum roll? What the heck is going on here? Oh, like that's not gonna be distracting or nothing.
Talk about feeling on the spot now. A bead of sweat starts the slow journey down the side of Hinata's face already. "Umm.. g-give me your best, okay?" she calls, sounding a little less certain than she did only seconds ago.

When Hinata gives her thumbs-up, Kensou slips into his usual sidelong fighting stance, wide-legged and leading with his left fist, that hand turned palm upwards while his right fist is pulled closer to his body. "I never go easy on anybody!" he informs the Taiyo schoolgirl, and then the lights dim and the spotlights are on them, and dang that's bright. With the fight officially begun, though, Kensou - surprisingly - does not immediately go on the offensive, as he usually tends to. Instead, he's keeping an eye on Hinata, sizing the schoolgirl up... Which is probably a good measure of how his confidence is doing lately.

Hinata grins even wider. She tightens the belts on her orange sock armwarmers and bops her fists together once, hopping back and forth in her own energetic stance with her fists just under her chin. Yooush! "That's just what I wanted to hear. Ready? 'Cause here I come!"
She skips lightly toward Kensou, making a bold opener of closing the distance to an opponent who's obviously waiting for her. It's tricky to make the first move, but it'll work out for Hinata! She knows it will because once she gets started she won't give up no matter what! "Hut!" The Taiyo girl's left fist jabs out quickly to test Kensou's guard. Caution? What's that?

On the other hand, Kensou keeps playing it somewhat conservative, at least for the moment; Hinata's jab impacts the psychic teen's forearm as his guard goes up, and he takes a quick step back, before then hurling himself /at/ Hinata, flipping in midair to tap a hand against the hard wood of the stage and using that hand to spin himself around, then pushing off the ground again! His motion becomes a whirling, kicking combination with both legs extended, trying to batter Hinata with a succession of strikes from either foot. "Yaa--!!"

The Sunshine Girl isn't surprised her leading punch got blocked. It was mostly to see how Kensou would react. But when he hops backwards and leaps up in the air, she's the one backing away. Lowering a knee down to the wood of the stage, she braced both arms above her head to absorb the kicks one after the other. She gets battered alright, but not as badly as it could have been.
"Good!" she beams happily, letting Kensou land and right himself before following up. It's an interesting style, to be sure. This is going to be fun! "See how you like this one, though!" Hinata hopskips forward, straight at Kensou and executes a 180 turn as she does so, apparently intent on bumping her back into his stomach. But then she reaches over her head to try to grab him by the collar. She might be smaller than him, but she can still use her shoulder like a lever to give him a good toss!

Oh, Kensou lands all right... But he doesn't quite recover himself in time after that attack to properly deal with the next attack, as he gets thrown right over Hinata's shoulder like that, hitting the stage back-first, which kinda hurts! Breath leaves his lungs in a rush, but he doesn't stay down long, rolling over onto his stomach and then springing back up to his feet, twisting around on one heel to swing his other foot right at Hinata's head. So apparently he didn't like that, no. How surprising! "Hua-!"

And here the Sunshine Girl was starting to feel like she'd built up some good momentum thus far, but she just wasn't expecting Kensou to be able to get to his feet quite *that* quickly. "Wh-" is all she manages before getting a nice Keds imprint on the side of her head and sending her sliding on her back into and under the heavy velvet curtain at the back of the stage. The fabric ripples for a moment more after the Taiyo schoolgirl missile passes through it. From backstage a loud "Oooooow!" echoes out. "That hurt!"
Okay, so maybe she can't play around quite as much. Not that she really was playing around before but... you get the idea. "Kikoooouuu..." From around the edges of the curtain, a bright light starts to glow backstage. But, they don't usually put theater lights backstage, do they?
"Shoutei..." A gust of air parts the two halves of the curtain, showing Hinata behind it, kneeled and holding a large yellow ball of energy in both palms. Oddest of all, it's got a greenish tint where it meets her palms and large fanning 'petals'. It's a big freakin' sunflower! "HA!" It looks like a sunflower, but it sure travels like a Hadouken, between the curtains and straight at Kensou!

"...Geez, she's the one who told me not to hold back," Kensou mutters, at the statement that his kick hurt. And then... Uh oh, that's probably not very good. The Psycho Soldier gives a start when the curtains part after that light, and there's a crazy-looking energy blast headed his way... Only one thing for it! Kensou brings his hands up in front of his face, gathering Psycho Power as quickly as he can, concentrating on what he has to do... And then he sweeps his hands out with a cry of 'Choukyuudan!', causing a crackling, beachball-sized sphere of blue-tinged white Psycho Power to form in the air, careening right into the heart of Hinata's attack, the two forces cancelling each other out in the middle of the stage, with a mighty impressive lightshow!
This gives Hinata a moment of pause, if just to raise her eyebrows and go "Wow, that was pretty." Which she does. Wait.. this isn't the time to be admiring the pyrotechnics! This is a time for fightin'!
Rising from her crouch, she sniffs and wipes at her nose with the back of her right hand. "Okay, here I come again!" Nice of her to give some advance warning, isn't it? Clunky cross-trainers pound on the hardwood of the stage as the Wakaba girl barrels forward, parting the curtain with both hands to give herself a clear charing space. Barely halfway to Kensou, she leaps into the air. It's a mighty long jump, but she manages to make it while whipping her right foot around toward the left side of Kensou's head, shoe trailing bright sputters of orange-red energy. "Ichi!" Whirling in midair, she brings her left foot around the circle to strike again. "Ni!" Finally the right foot *again*, three full spinning kicks in midair from a running start. "San!"

No, it's hardly time to stare at the pretty lights at all! Kensou slips back into his stance as quickly as he can after the big energy explosion, and he's recovered just in time to see Hinata come a-runnin'. Time to think quickly, Sie! For a moment, he considers trying to get out of the way of the attack, by throwing himself to one side, but... Sometimes, you've just got to stand your ground. So stand his ground Kensou does, tensing slightly... And then Hinata's first kick lands, and pretty successfully too, the hit knocking Kensou off of his feet! He falls to the side, catching himself with one hand, and then that arm suddenly tenses, holding his weight up as he kicks pretty much straight /up/ at Hinata with one leg, following it with a kick from his other leg in a quick, pistoning one-two succession. "Yo! Yaa-!!"
Oof! Whee! Had Hinata scheduled a flight this early, she might not be so surprised to recieve a quick one-two kick to the hinder like that. But vulnerable as she is, the first kick lands heavily and knocks her out of the rest of her spinning kick and throwing her off balance to take the second kick sharply in the small of the back. She's really pretty light, so the force of the kick carries her straight up and into the air. Really way, way high into the air. And how's she supposed to explain to her mom how she got a footprint on the back of her underwear, huh? You're so inconsiderate, Kensou.

Whoa, scandalous! Kensou wasn't /intending/ to kick Hinata in the tush, honest. He's gotten back to his feet after the kick, looking up to try and see where his opponent got to, when he sees her flying back down at him, eyes widening both at the surprising choice of attack, and the, uh, well. Couldn't she have worn bike shorts underneath, or something?! Kensou lets out a bit of a strangled noise, and remembers that getting kicked is /bad/, throwing himself to one side to roll out of the way of Hinata's attack. Hopefully she doesn't hurt herself in the landing! Meanwhile, Kensou slips into his stance once he's rolled away, facing Hinata and turning his focus inwards, drawing on his reserves of Psycho Power...

CRASH! The Taiyo girl lands heavily on the wooden stage. The wood splinters and cracks under the sheer force of it, which is really neat and impressive. Except Hinata doesn't fully slow down. She really doesn't even stop. There is another more impressive sounding CRASH and the Sunshine Girl's leg pokes a clean hole through the wood and leaves her looking surprised with one leg sunken up to the hip in the stage. "Aww crap!"
"Wait.. no.. don't help me. I've got it." She waves off the fight assistants, who had actually made no move to help her. They know better than to get close during one of these fights. It can crazy and they don't get paid enough for hazardous duty. "Alright.. okay.. I've got it." She tugs at her leg, then tries bracing her palms against the stage and pushing herself up. "I don't got it.. gimme a sec, okay?"

Wait, a crash? Uh oh. Kensou gives a dramatic wince at that, seeing Hinata stuck with one leg in the stage. Oh /man/, somebody's gonna have to /pay/ for that. He should probably go over there and help her get out of the stage, but that wouldn't be very proper in the middle of a fight, now would it? So instead, he just keeps his eyes on Hinata, and keeps on doing what he was already doing, his clothes and hair stirring faintly despite the lack of any breeze inside the opera house. "Y' sure you can handle it yourself?" he calls to Hinata, at least.

Hinata has dropped a connection.
"I got it!" Hinata strains, pushing against the stage until at last the girl's leg pops out of the hole with a sound like a cork from a bottle. *POP!* "There! Finally!" She brushes some wood splinters off her skirt and sock, then beams a sheepish smile at Kensou. "Thanks for waiting."
Fists raised and bouncing lightly again, it seems Hinata's none the worse for wear, even though the stage might be considered 'slightly used' now. She throws her fists back and rushes toward Kensou, intent on repaying his kindness for waiting for her by showing him her ultimate coolest move ever! A half-step in front of the Psycho powered fight, Hinata turns to the side, crouches, and leaps with her right fist upraised. "Orrrrya!" A spinning uppercut punch surrounding by long trails of bright orange energy like a Chinese dragon. Isn't it the coolest?!

And everyone feels better once Hinata's gotten herself free of the stage! Even Kensou, though he's supposed to be fighting her. Then, of course, the schoolgirl is coming right for him, obviously getting ready to do something potentially rather painful, and he briefly considers using the opening to attack...! Instead, though, he throws his arms up to take the brunt of the energy-charged spinning uppercut punch, gritting his teeth. "Not bad!" he says, and then he thrusts his right hand forward, palm open, tapping his left hand against his right shoulder, waiting for Hinata to come back down from her jump...

"Woooohoooo!" the girl yells ecstatically as the Shouyouken carries her into the air. Was he impressed? Did he see how cool it was and she came up with it almost all by herself! Well, obviously it was inspired by a certain other fighting style but she took the time to refine it a lot!
Uh-oh, looks like Kensou's got something up his sleeve and being up in the air like this is pretty much when Hina-chan's most vulnerable! ... or is she? The spiralling motion of the Faux-ryuken suddenly ceases and the energy spiral dissipates as well, revealing Hinata Wakaba in midair doing the splits and palming the top of Kensou's head with her right hand. "Tag!"
The Sunshine Girl vaults over the Psycho Soldier's head and lands lightly behind him, but wastes no time at all. Her entire body rocks forward as she lashes her right foot out behind her and plants a palm on the stage to keep her balance. Again with the short skirt and the high kicks. A bright flash of energy surrounds her heel as she mule-kicks towards the small of Kensou's back to send him off on a little journey! "You're it!"

"What the-?!" Kensou's attack fizzles as Hinata vaults over his head, sending him staggering forward. As for what happens next, he tries to use his momentum to get the heck out of the way, and then he gets kicked right in the back, /really hard/. That sends him careening away, hitting the stage and rolling, ending up in a seated position with his back to Hinata... And then he falls onto his back. /Ow/. After a moment, he hops to his feet, turning to face the schoolgirl, reaching behind his back. "That's it, then! I'm gonna havta show ya... My SUPER SECRET CERTAIN DEATH ULTIMATE TECHNIQUE!" And he produces... A piping-hot meat bun, posing dramatically! And then he eats it.
"Yeah!" Hinata spins in place and poses as well, giving a gigantic grin and a thumbs up while sticking her rear out. It looks alarmingly like a... Dan Hibiki pose. There's even a glint off her teeth. *ting!* How do they do that on command?
Then highly trained high school girl senses detect something in the air. Yes, honed to perfection by competing with other equally tenacious Taiyo High students in the cafeteria to get the choicest morsels before they run out. Is that.. no, it can't be. It couldn't be. It IS! A meat bun! Hinata's jaw drops, looking crestfallen at the tantalizing smell of it. And it's still steaming, even! "Awwww..." Her mouth waters.
"No fair! No fair! You brought snacks!" The Sunshine Girl stamps a foot on the stage at the injustice of it all! A real meat bun! Beef... no wait. *sniff sniff* Pork! Definitely a pork bun! "Anybody ever tell you to share?!" Breaking into a full run, Hinata runs toward Kensou full tilt. Meat buuuuuun! If she can just get him away from it, maybe she'll at least get a single bite! She makes a wild grab for his collar to separate him from the poor snack. Don't worry! Hinata Wakaba is here to save you, pork bun!

That's... What?! Kensou sees Hinata running at him, and he tries to get out of the way before she can grab him, but... No such luck this time! Instead, he loses his bun, after getting a little throttled by that throw, staggering back. "HEY!! That's totally not fa--" Oh, dammit. He just reaches behind his back, and grabs a second bun, which he immediately pops into his mouth, looking like he really expects Hinata to try and steal that from him, too. Anyway, the bun makes Kensou's condition improve visibly - and deliciously - and then he takes a crazy wild swing at Hinata, and if the first one hits, he follows it up with a likewise crazy wild combination, ending it off with a powerful shoulder check! "Uryaa--!!"

Buuuuuun! The piping hot pork bun lands in Hinata's waiting palms with a hearty *plop*. Oh, she'll be kind to you, pork bun! Know that you've always got a friend in Hinata Wakaba! She inhales the sweet scent of it, tendrils of steam into her nose and takes a tender loving bite. *chuu*
Momentarily distracted by her stomach, Hinata wide-eyes at the furious return assault from Kensou. Pork bun still clamped tightly in her mouth, she bobs and weaves, dancing the limbo with her mouth stuff. "Mmmf! Shtop it! I'm eating!" WHAM! A wild blow catches her in the shoulder and throws off her balance, setting herself up perfect for the bullrush shoulder hit. The pork bun goes flying into the air. It knocks her backwards stumbling towards the edge of the stage, pinwheeling her arms to keep herself from falling. "Mmmmmmmmf!!"
Slow motion. A pork bun falling toward the stage. Hinata's eyes dilate to tiny pinpricks. Nooo! Not after she went to so much trouble to save it! Finding a sudden surge of strength, she wrenches forward to rush straight back at Kensou, lashing her left arm out quickly and catching the bun in her right. Two quick jabs and she tosses the bun lightly into the air and throws her entire body behind a hard right cross, fist burning with a bright rainbow light and catching the bun in her left hand. "HAA!"

Whoa, she's gone crazy! Kensou can't do much but duck and weave out of the way of Hinata's attacks, managing to avoid the whole thing... /Somehow/. "Hey, you food thief!!" he says, indignantly, taking a half-step towards Hinata and throwing himself in a spinning motion again. He tries to land a pair of spinning backfist attacks, before stopping the spin and then lashing out with a straight punch towards Hinata's midsection. "Give that back!" What sort of terrible, awful person steals someone else's food?! XIANGFEI, that's what sort!

Hinata 0/-------/--=====|==-----\-------\0 Kensou
Hinata raises her free right arm to slap open-palmed strikes at each of Kensou's spinning backhanded punches, meeting force with force to stop the attacks before they can hit something more vulnerable. Just as quickly, she raises her right leg, knee to her chest to absorb the gut punch against the much tougher muscles of her thigh. All while holding a pork bun in her left hand.
Meeting Kensou's eyes across the strike and block stalemate, she shakes her head vehemently. "Nuh-uh!" Then Hinata opens her mouth as wide as it will go and shoves the entire bun into her mouth at once. Try getting it back now, Kensou! Little bits of bread crumb and pork filling ring her lips, but she chews happily nonetheless. One pork bun down! And was it delicious.
Hinata wipes her mouth with the back of one hand. "It was delicious." She returns the favor by quickly popping her raised leg out for a simple snap kick to Kensou's knee.

How... How /could/ she?! That's such a horrible thing to do! Kensou is so appalled at Hinata's act of food thievery that he doesn't even manage to get out of the way of that kick properly, and so he gets kicked in the knee. Ow! He winces, but he doesn't have the time to go and be in pain at all... He's got to try and take Hinata /down/! Which his next attempt to do involve reaching to try and grab the girl and fling her over the leg she just kicked, with a pretty simple toss.

Never get between a Taiyo student and their lunch. You're likely to lose a limb that way. Despite being a large and fairly well-funded school, it still suffers from the lunchroom rush, so students have to literally fight each other for meals on a daily basis. And Hinata *loves* pork buns.
Kensou grabs a hold of Hinata by the bow on the front of her uniform and gives her a toss, but the Sunshine Girl has a plan! In mid-throw, she grabs Kensou's wrist and refuses to let go, being swung in a large arc and wrapping right around him. She winds up standing right behind him, holding his wrist with his arm bent across his chest and under his own armpit. "Surprise!"
Hinata releases one hand from holding Kensou and wraps it around his chest on the other side, wrenching powerfully to try to lift him off his feet and execute a German suplex to land Kensou right on the back of his neck!

That's... Unexpected. Kensou is so surprised that he can't even /try/ to avoid Hinata's suplex, ending up landing pretty hard. He flops to the side after the German suplex is released, and... Ow. Ow, ow, ow. But Kensou isn't the sort of person who's about to just lie down, quickly getting to his feet to strike at Hinata before she can fully recover from her attack, feinting with his right fist before snapping out a punch with his left. "Haa-!"

Hinata foolishly follows the feinted right and raised her arms to guard in that direction, but gets off lucky as the surprise right glances off her block anyway. Phew! Getting sloppy, Wakaba! Thankfully she's not rattled by it and remains intent on hitting Kensou back as quickly as possible! As a retaliatory strike, her own right fist lances upwards while she and Kensou are in close combat. A telltale flare of bright orange chi 'flames' surround the fist as she pushes off with both legs as powerfully as she can, hoping to catch him off guard with nowhere to run. "Hyaaaa!"

Looks like Hinata's having a good day, today! Kensou tries - and fails - to get his arms up in the way of the Shouyouken, but it looks like he misjudged the timing on this one, the powerful rising punch ploughing into him, lifting him off the ground and tossing him away, painfully. Ow. He doesn't stay on the ground too long, curling up and then springing back onto his feet, rushing right at Hinata in one last, desperate attack, throwing his right hand forward palm-open again, and putting his left hand against his right shoulder, trying to catch Hinata in a gigantic spherical blast of almost pure white Psycho Power! "HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA--!!"

"Waaaah! Wait! I didn't mean it! I'll buy you another pork bun I sweeaaa-AAGH!" Hinata scrambles backwards, clawing at the stage to get some kind of traction to outrun the GINORMOUS sphere of energy headed straight at her. The blast catches her fully in the back, first silhouetting the Taiyo girl against the light then swallowing her completely. There is an explosion, and a singed Hinata Wakaba rockets out of the ball of pure psycho energy and into the opera house seats with a loud thump, slumped forward over the back of one of the chairs and still sizzling slightly.
The Neo League crew is stunned into silence for a long moment, one of the assistants first leaning over Kensou while another pokes at Hinata gingerly with the official Neo League poking stick. The Wakaba girl doesn't get up, her eyes moving in lazy spirals. "Oooow...."
"Double knockout!" the judge finally proclaims, raising a white flag and signalling the end of the fight for now.
