A fight inside Japan, is the best kind of fight! Well, arguably. It's the easiest for Southtown fans to check out, at the very least. Todays fight takes us to Downtown southtown, arguably the busiest place around on a Sunday afternoon, and as usual it's cold as dickens out. So it's a good thing that this fight is also being held in a fitness club! It seems Ballys is looking for some publicity and they're getting it today. It's a large mostly cleared out area with all kinds of gym equipment and mats and stuff laying around at the sides, and a group of folks'es stand at the sidelines at the middle area is quickly swept up. And once that's clear? Xiangfei swings the entrance doors open and cries, "I am -here-!" she's pretty happy about todays match, she hadn't faced off against her teamate in some time after all. She knew it'd be a good match! She waves to the fans as she hops to the middle of the gym, and raises her hand in the air, "Where forth be mine opponent!" she declares.
A bit less impressive in her entrance is Shinobu... but, of course, that was five minutes algo. Right now, she's sitting crosslegged as she waits, playing her little portable game in front of the crowd. She looks up towards Xiangfei as she enters, and gets up slowly, rubbing her neck. She stretches her neck to either side, then brushes down her skirt and then starts to walk over. Raising her hand, she makes some popping sounds as she 'adjusts' her knuckles with an open hand... and then drops her hand to her side.
Looking a little confused for a moment, Shinobu then grins widely. "This should be good!", she says, and then thrusts her fist out in a clumsy block. "... at least until you fall down."
.. Woah! Xiangfei actually didn't know Shinobu had a hand-held, it shouldn't be suprising of course, but she just.. Didn't know! And it probably doesn't hold a candle to her N-Gage either. Funny that. Xiangfei herself is in her usual chinese fighting ensamble, white pants and red top, bells and all, and she punches her open palm, giving her teamate a bow before settling into her open-palm stance, "I agree, though you know me, I don't tend to fall down for very long, hah!"

Lunging forward, Shinobu comes in with her side facing Xiangfei... as if she's going for a shoulder ram. But then, she suddenly sways like a reed as she gets near, wobbling backwards momentarily. Gathering up a traditional blue bubble in her palms... she then suddenly spreads them wide to the sides, trying to catch Xiangfei in a /big/ bubble. "Yah!" It's not a move she often uses. But against a teammate, she needs surprises like this!

And quite a suprise it is! Xiangfei had .. Well as far as she can remember, had never seen that attack before, it's usually just one... Or the other.. But both? Without much time to make a counter-attack, she turns to the side to meet the ram, but instead finds herself trapped in Shinobus bubble? The confusion is evident on her face, but with the assistance of her chi, she bursts free with what looks like a quick jab, "Interesting! How about this!" her opposite hand sweeps forward, attempting to slap onto Shinobus gut. And should she make that tag, her fingertips curl inward, and an unseen force of power slams into the girl, likely knocking her flat on the ground, "HAH!"

The slap hits, but Shinobu shifts back suddenly, changing the distance and only getting a flick as opposed to a smack. She slides back, and smirks, raising a fist. "You've gotten a little better...", she concedes. Taking two steps back forward, she throws out a powerful straight punch aimed at Xiangfei's chest. It may not seem like much, but it's fired off like a bullet, with a lot of power behind it. Doesn't look like Shinobu's holding back in the slightest!

Xiangfei blinks, and looks rather suprised with how deftly Shinobu defends against her 'invisible' technique. It makes the girl smirk a little right back, and she replies, "Thanks, I think, but this is just the beginning," her arms loosen up a bit, and Shinobus punch is met with a deflection, her hands crossing at her wrists and thrown up to knock the punch upward, "Hai!" she's faced the terror of Shinobus punch before.. it wasn't fun! Xiangfei immedietly strikes back, right hand zipping up to flick Shinobu between the eyes, "Ook!" and it's followed by a crouch, three backhands fired off in succession at Shinobus tummy sternum, leaning more toward speed than strength it'd seem, "Ha-ta-ta!!"

The blows strike true, forcing Shinobu back... but immediately after here there's a cry of "Yayayayayaya!", as Shinobu tries to barrage Xiangfei with a blurred series of punches before she can retract that last punch. The swarm of strikes just flows out of her without hesitation, as sne tries to turn her her teammate's good fortune over to the other side of the coin!

Xiangfei, to her own suprise, can't do much to Shinobus attack, the chinese girls teeth grit lightly, and makes a move that seems to move with each punch- They're too quick though, she maybe evades one before eating the rest of them, and it knocks her flat on her back. The tide turned? Perhaps not yet, she tucks in her knees and kip-ups to her feet, "I never did like getting hit by that," she grumbles, and lashes at Shinobu with a quick and simple combination, attempting to chop diagonally at Shinobu, followed up by a palm-thrust with her other hand, "Hup! Hah!"

"Your style is strong..." Moving forward, Shinobu swings her arm out, turning each blow to the side. "... but I don't need any!" With that, she takes both the blocking arms and slams them out in a all-or-nothing double punch, aiming to keep Xiangfei on the retreat. Sakura was right - she's better when she doesn't get too fancy. And against Xiangfei... well, we'll see if Shinobu's brain has worked out the weakness of kung fu!

And Xiangfei seems.. Rather pleased about Shinobus asessment of her style, she always thought it was strong herself, though it always had room for improvement, not just yet perfected. She, so far, hasn't noticed anything different in Shinobus fighting 'behaviour', the double-punch smacks loudly into Xiangfeis palms, sliding back a tiny bit, and then is on the offensive once more with a longer string of attacks, snapping a kick at Shinobus side, then the other with her opposite, a double-palm strike to the gut, then takes a step back and lashes forward again with the final palm, yelling just like she usualy does!

Shinobu gets blown off her feet finally, landing hard on the ground. Slowly, she gets up, her eye twitching with pain. Then, she quickly shimmies, shaking off her funk, and ponders. If she continues pounding away at Xiangfei just like before, she might have an even chance of winning. Instead... she needs an edge. Narrowing her eyes, she takes in a breath, and then drops to a low stance... one leg far out back, while the other bent underneath her. It's Xiangfei's earlier words that might give her the key...

Xiangfei has to keep her cool somehow, despite that excitement she feels from landing her assault, but she's starting to notice now- Shinobu is actually a lot less manic than usual; it's almost like the girl is becoming more calculating; is the schoolgirl trying to read her moves?
Xiang believes she's forced to throw a wild-card then, leaping to the side and slides on the floor, spinning around to kick a large medicine ball at her opponent. A bit risky, but..

Shinobu dashes forward, hopping onto the ball and then off it, sending it spinning towards a weight machine, where it gets snared up in the wires with a clanking din. Bringing an arm back as she 'crouches' in midair, Shinobu then dives at Xiangfei, adding her own weight to the force of the punch. Subtle as a truck bomb.

Xiangfei curses lightly to herself, she didn't expect Shinobu to move so quickly, it's quite probable that her plan was ruined right then and there. But Shinobus attack, while fast, isn't overwhelming, Xiang has time to dive under the schoolgirl, tumble, and then get to one knee, muttering under her breath as she claps her hands togeather, and makes quick movements with her hands. Looks like she's making a slight change in tactics herself!

Shinobu's fist comes out, cracking the floor, and she rises with a wince, wringing her hand. Then, she closes it again despite the pain, causing some bits of debris to fall off... and then chases after Xiangfei, following up her earlier attack with a "Yayayayaya!", as she unleashes another burst of left-handed punches. Apparently, her brilliant plan is 'get close to Xiangfei. Hit her.'

Xiangfei... really didn't like that move. It's been said already, a technique in itself that's quite impressive, but a struggle to defend against. So she just goes with it, while she can't flat out dodge it, she -can- moves with the blows to keep herself from getting knocked away. And in turn? She leans in and delivers a stunning palm strike at Shinobus gut. there's a dangerous fire in her eyes as she then slouches to deliver a double-palm, hops up into a knee strike, and then is finished with a twirling kick that should send Shinobu reeling if things go her way. And it happens so fast, possibly faster than Shinobu may remember!

Getting caught dead to rights, Shinobu stumbles back with each blow, getting hit with each and every strike. But as the final kick lands, she flies back... and lands on her feet. Remarkably, she looks hurt... but not hurt enough. Then, she rushes at Xiangfei. Time for the fierce reply to that last attack!
"Yayayayayaya!" Shinobu's flurry of punches should be familiar to Xiangfei... but that's not the end! She then switches to her other arm, continuing her rapid-fire kiais along the away as she tries to batter Xiangfei into a corner. Then, finally, she shouts, "YAYAYAYAYAYAYA!", as she lets loose with /both/ arms, throwing punches every which way, even off to the sides, but the sheer quantity makes up for the inaccuracy of her flailing!

It doesn't need to be said. Xiangfei knew it was going to happen eventually, but she believed she was completely prepared for what was to come.
Or so she thought; "What in blazes?" Xiangfei asks, she raises a hand, looking to fend off the assualt, and again is just compltely overwhelmed and then some! Every single one of the hits from that point on meet their mark, as inaccurate as they may be, and Xiangfei drops to one knee, holding her stomach, "Urgh.. Nn.. Not just yet," it's a long-shot, but she sucks it up and gives one more attack, a ring of dust blowing from beneath her feet that sends her rocketing upward, and hopfully catching Shinobu with her with her rising shoulder tackle, "Haaaahh!" hit or miss, she backflips and crashes to the floor again in a crouch, trembling a bit, and looking like that may be the last of it.

No.. Not quite, she can still keep going! Her posture straightening a bit, she turns around and motions for her to 'come', "I can still fight!!"
Shinobu raises both her forearms, taking the blow hard... but still standing. As Xiangfei lands in a crouch, Shinobu isn't taking any chances. With a hop forth, she then leans in towards Xiangfei, throwing out an over-extended punch that leaves her on only one foot! It's a risk, but it's one she'll have to take. She's worn out and tired, but her resolve has yet to be shaken!

Xiangfei, on the other hand takes the chance, seeing what she believes is quite an opening; noticing the girl put so much into that strike, she doesn't have much choice but to take advantage, the blow lands clean across, but her hands move so quickly that she's able to flip over Shinobu when she grabs the schoolgirls arm, and fling her to the ground, "Hah!" and then she raises her foot and stomps hard, a stomp which she thinks should be the finishing blow.. But she knows her teamate a bit better than that.. Never hurts to try though, "KYAH!"
Getting stomped, Shinobu goes into reflexive mode. She reaches out, trying to yank Xiangfei's foot from under her. It's not much, but desperation is desperation. She's gotta take Xiangfei down to the ground where she is, or she might not be able to get even off the ground. "Ha-shah!", she cries with the wild attack, hoping that it's not her last hurrah.

Xiangfei, unfortunatly, is completely on the ball, she's still on fire after having gotten back up to her feet and put some chips on the table that worked things in her favor. Shinobu makes the sweep, but she isn't tired enough to be unable to land flat on her back, throwing out her arms to kip-up to her feet once more with a, "Hah!"
She notices then that her opponent may not be able to continue, and she hangs back for just a second, "... Shino?"
Shinobu gets up on one knee, and then collapses. "Ahhh, training has me too tired... stupid Shingo...", she mumbles, looking up at the ceiling. She tries to get up on her arms, straining, but then slumps back again. "Man, this is annoying. Ahhhhh!", she says, trying to struggle, but she starts to fade out nonetheless.
Xiangfei blinks, and then grumbles herself as she crosses her arms, "Shingo, huh.. Grr." she always was frustrated with her teamate choosing the chipper Yabuki as her 'sensei', but she wasn't in any liberty to do much about it right now.
With the winner declared, there's cheering, and a round of applause for the two fighters, the waitress kneeling beside Shinobu and grins a bit, reaching into her pocket and draws out.. A candy bar! "This should fix you up, right? I noticed you're using a bit of a different style. Bone up on it and you can fight me again next week, deal?"
Shinobu snatches it up, narrowing her eyes... before dropping it right on her stomach as her hand slumps down. "...." She hasn't had her spurts of adrenaline that kept her going in the past.. but it's not like her determination has wavered. Maybe her change in style is to blame? "I am going to punch you so hard...", she says, before smiling toothily.
