Neo League 126 - Exhibition: Clark vs Kim

Description: Kim and Clark have an exhibition league match. Clark learns that Kim's kicks hurt, and Kim learns that Clark can take a good deal of punishment. In the end, they both realize they can kick a lot of ass, and have joined together as brothers in arms of justice. Or something. (Winner: Kim)

This is one of those odd matches. Odd in two ways, that is. First, the location was a warehouse in the harbor district that some kind (and possibly foolish) owner had decided to lend out for a league match. This particular warehouse was not much different from any other. Three stories, a catwalk around the third story with a small office up there as well. The ground floor is cement, with boxes stacked in neat order, though for today they've been positioned so as to form a 'ring' for the fighters to fight in, the boxes offering a bit of protection to the crowd of sailors and perhaps even some criminals to watch the match. The second bit of oddity for this match, however, was the participants. It was an exhibition match with one of the fighters ranked lowest in the league, versus the highest ranked fighter in the league. One of those 'mixed up' matches, but you never knew in these styles of fights! And that's what made it interesting.
Cameras and lights are set up so as to capture the fights, the small but energetic crowd already gathered as the fight gets closer to Go Time. Clark's sort of feeling the energy, too, looking for all the world... like a statue. But he was -feeling- energetic, and that's what mattered, even if he didn't really show it. Hands in his pockets, Clark waits on one end of the ring, pushing up his shades a bit on the bridge of his nose as he glances around at the crowds. Rougher sorts, but not that he minded. The league official moves to the center of the 'ring' as the appointed time draws near, urging a renewed rush of chattering from the crowd. The official begins to pump things up.
"Ladies and gentlemen! Tonight we have a match for your pure entertainment, a match between the underdog Clark Steel of the Ikari Warriors, and the current league champion, Kim Kaphwan! We've chosen a unique location as well for tonight, as there is no 'boundry' other than the warehouse's walls - that is to say, the fight could move on to any part of the warehouse, so the crowd is urged to keep a bit aware, should the fight get lively! Boxes of heavy materials are piled high, offering obsticles as well as weapons to the fighters, and who knows what might happen should it be taken to the third story? We'll find out!"

Kim Kaphwan was done with his League Fights for this week. After fighting that horrible secretary Mature once more, and then battling the apprentice of one Terry Bogard, Rock Howard. The fights had both been invigorating in their own ways, though Kim would certainly /not/ want to fight Mature ever again -- at least not for some time. The evil secretary has a way of getting under his skin, and in a very bad way. But -- even though his points had been settled for this week, there was nothing wrong with fighting for fun! Kim did it on a regular basis, so when the offer of a simple (haha, simple) exhibition match came around, the legendary Koreaqn could hardly turn it down! After all, fighting new people is always exciting, and who knows what would happen today? And so he came. Except...
His entrance is a bit more dramatic than Clark's.
"HYAAA!!"
The voice BOOMS from the third story of the warehouse, and should anyone look up? There is Kim Kaphwan, dressed in his standard white gi, /leaping/ into the air... and jutting out a single foot, as if entering and starting the fight /right off the bat/! But fortunately for Clark, he does not. Instead, he just SLAMS foot-first into the ground in something of a crouch, head jerking up to meet the Ikari warrior's face with a wide grin and a thumbs up. Great!! Everyone's here! And he is /completely/... ready to fight with everything he's got!
The mention of 'Ikari Warriors' catches Kim's ear as he stands. He peers at Clark a bit, tilting his head to the side. "... so you're a friend of Ralf's?" It's a simple question, even as he offers a pleasant smile and drops into a combat-ready position. "Well then, that means this is going to be a lot of fun, I think!! Pleased to meet you -- I'm Kim Kaphwan! Let's give it our all today, okay?!" He's certainly /energetic/, at least!

Clark doesn't react much to the dramatic entrance. He does blink, which is the most outward expression of his surprise, and even that's hidden mostly by his glasses. He then slowly looks up, whereas most others in the crowd start and then jerk their gazes towards the fighter's yell, and then look startled as the man leaps from the catwalk, foot first, at... Clark?! No, at the ground. A gasp of shock goes through the crowd, and then a few 'woo!'s, as well. That certainly was impressive. Not so much the jump kick, but the fact the guy was still walking normally after the fall. Clark himself doesn't actually move from his position, hands still in his pockets, eyes and head following the motion of his opponent. The question catches him a bit off guard, though. But only a moment. "Ah... yeah, that's right." Ralf hadn't told him of anyone... quite like this, but hey, no problem. He then slides into his own combat ready stance, and then gives a simple nod. "Let's," he answers, and then... waits. Waits for it... waaaiii-
"Fight!"
Clark edges forward a bit, not exactly rushing, but moving forward slow enough so as not to invite any openings a full out rush might make. The gap is still closed pretty quickly though, and once he reaches the Korean, he... begins his analysis. A much different fighter than Ralf, for certain, for now, he just begins to probe at Kim. A light punch, followed by a feint, then a slight pause, before he feints once more, then punches again, seeking to test his opponent's guard. Make no mistake, though, this isn't him playing around - he's quite adament on his testing.

Well -- Ralf and Kim only really had a prolonged meeting a few days back, in which Ralf intentionally tried to tick off Kim and the two ended up beating the crap out of each other. But that's neither here nor there at the moment! Kim has to keep his attention on Clark, which he does -- save when the announcer launches off the fight, it seems Kim is not /entirely/ prepared. Clark's punch is quick, that much is certain. Fast enough that Kim isn't /quite/ able to raise up a guard in fast enough time. The two blows knock into him, but only send him staggering back a little bit before he nods. "Great!" Playing around? Kim doubts it! Besides -- he's got tricks of his own too.
As soon as he staggers back, Kim raises a single leg into the air. And in one, swift motion, he SLAMS it into the ground with such impressive strength that the ground all around them begins to shake as if in a miniaturized earthquake, the shockwaves meant to knock Clark right off his feet. "HUAH!!!"

Noted. What was it that was noted? Various things. Kim's reaction speed, how he would attempt to block, or even dodge, his movements... all that good stuff. Clark was indeed very different than Ralf. But Kim himself was pretty different, too, yeah? As exampled by the kick. Well... kick attack anyway. As Kim gets knocked back, Clark shifts his stance a little and shuffles back a short distance himself. He doesn't try to press the attack, but rather letting the other man recover. And when the foot is raised...? Clark's pretty sure that's meant to come down on his shoulder. Which is why the big man raises his arms up above himself in a cross. Only, then the foot comes slamming down on the ground and actually -makes shockwaves-, which impact against his legs and stomach, sending him flying a short distance. Wow, that was different! But that just made things more interesting. Pushing his legs upwards as he slides, he kips himself up into a backwards roll, boots making a squealing noise against the cement floor from being dug in to stop his momentum. Then, the Ikari raises up and briefly is positioned as one would expect a track runner to look, and then he's running back in, this time in a rush. He moves in low, hoping to slam his shoulder straight into Kim's stomach, then wrap his arms around the man's middle, lift up, invert him, and then slam him, head first, into the ground.

Well, there we are. Kim grins a little bit to himself as he smashes the ground, and Clark makes the mistake of thinking the kick was meant for /him/. It happens a lot. Not many people expect a small earthquake to occur when Kim slams his foot into the ground, but it happens all the same! Except, Clark is up and ready to fight again, and though Kim darts to the side, it seems as if he's not /quite/ fast enough. Rather -- Clark gets a rather solid hold on Kim, and then /thrusts/ him head first into the ground as intended -- and probably harder than he might have thought. Still. Kim isn't down and out yet, and with a strong push he moves /away/ from Clark, flipping through the air and landing on his feet a short distance away from the man. That hurt, but it's hardly going to stop him from /charging/ forward again, snapping out a single leg intent on smacking into the side of Clark's head not once, but three times. "KYAAA!!"

It seemed like that hurt! But no, not enough to put Kim Kaphwan out just yet. That was good. Clark actually lets go of the Korean as soon as his head makes contact with the ground, shuffling back and away from those feet, arms brought up once again in defense, watching the other man as he gets back up surprisingly fast after such an attack. So fast, that the man is inclined to give a nod of his head to his opponent. He wasn't much for words, but the gesture no doubt means 'You're pretty good!'. Besides, there wasn't too much time for words, as those feet once again fly. The mercenary doesn't make the mistake of blocking where he -thinks- it's coming this time, and instead keeps his eyes open, watching for - yeah, they're coming for him. Arms come up to deflect the first kick, but then the second and third slam home. Against his arms, but damn those kicks are still powerful! They force Clark to buckle to the side a bit, his balance giving way for a moment, so he stumbles to the side. Once he regains his balance, he gives a shake of his head. Whew! Then, he adopts his fighting stance again. Okay, the probing was over... time to do the real analysis...

COMBATSYS: Clark focuses on his next action.

Hum. The kicks are blocked, but it really doesn't bother Kim /too/ terribly much. As it stands, the man is more concerned with ensuring that he continues to attack and press the assault. He's really expecting a counter attack from Clark by the time the other man has recovered from Kim's kicks, but it seems that's not the case -- in fact, Clark just stands there and seems to be taking a closer look at Kim. Hrm! Kim pauses for a moment, landing on the ground feet first, before he gives a relatively easy shrug and a smile before he charges off once more. This time, he just bull rushes Clark. It's pretty straightforward, really -- he charges /headfirst/ at Clark, as if intent to ram the man with his skull, but as soon as he's close enough... he leaps into the air, intent on slamming a single foot into Clark's chin. If it's successful, well, he'll follow up with a quick thrust of his palm against Clark's chest, to send him staggering back a little. "UUUUURRRYAAAA!!!"

It's a bit of a feint... and Clark should know better by now, but he's always watching a bit too closely when he does things like this! And so, when the bullrush comes, he's expecting just that. Instead, there's a kick snapped up, which catches the bigger man by surprise, the foot crashing against his chin with a loud grunt issued from him, already unbalanced by the hit. Then the palm strike comes, and he issues another grunt, though this time it's punctuated by the man stumbling backwards into a series of boxes, a few people from the crowd pushing forward to offer the Ikari a bit of support. With a muttered 'thanks', Clark regains his feet a bit faster than he would've normally, and tries to take advantage of this by stepping forward and suddenly punching at Kim. This isn't an ordinary punch, though. It's rather fast, and stiff, and most surprising of all is the aura of blue surrounding his fist as he seeks to punch his opponent square in the chest.

Ah, this punch. Kim has felt something like this before, and it hurt. A lot. He attempts to get out of the way, but it seems that he's just not fast enough to this time around. Instead, he takes the punch /right/ in the chest, the explosion of chi to accompany it sending the Korean flying through the air. It hurts a lot. Kim winces a bit in pain as he goes flying, but the thing is -- he still recovers in mid-air, feet pressing against a wall that he would have slammed into full-body if he weren't fast enough. Instead, he manages to push right off of it, and go /flying/ for Clark, brown eyes filled with an intense sort of determination. "HUUUAAH!!" And as soon as he's close enough, Kim is going to release a series of vicious bicycle kicks in mid-air at Clark, intent to hit him in the face, shoulders and chest with a series of rapid-fire motions until he finally kicks off the man, landing some distance away.

It takes a moment to actually recover from the attack, the big man extending himself a bit far with that one. He makes it back to his normal fighting stance just as the Korean launches towards him, and it's all Clark can do to try and keep from bowling over from the punishing kicks. They were serious, you know. He attempts to sort of roll with them, but the very first kick just knocks all sense away from him, so rather than trying to put up a tough front, he just... gets kicked a lot. Each kick brings out a loud grunt, though no real yelps. As the last kick and pushoff is made, he stumbles back a bit, looking a bit worse for the wear, shaking his head again to clear his vision. Damn, this guy was good! But it was his turn, now. Rushing forward, he moves as if to aim a punch straight for Kim's stomach... however, the punch seems to be a feint, as it comes in at an angle, intending to strike just past the man's hip, into the open air. Hoping to cause an attempt to dodge, he then would crouch and bit, then step in, wrapping his arms around his opponent's middle, and then up and over he'd go, in a strong suplex, reintroducing the man's head to the cement floor.

Clark's turn indeed! Which is why, when the large man rushes at him, Kim is ready. Legs planted into the ground, brown eyes narrowed, he's seen around the other man's attempts at feinting and -- this time around -- he is very prepared for it! Kim does not dodge as Clark punches the air beside him -- instead, he does quite the opposite. He stands there, even as he's grasped -- whether he's simply not quick enough, or because he intended for it to happen is up for debate. Still, Clark suplexes... but he might find a bit more resistance than he originally intended. Both Kim's arms have struck the ground instead of his head, absorbing the brunt of the damage. Taking this moment to flip away, Kim gains some distance between both himself and Clark, before he rushes forward once again. This time, he's fairly straightforward -- slamming a knee right into Clark's stomach, before twisting in the air and thrusting his foot down on top of the big man's head. "KYAAAAAAAA!!"

Crap. That's the reaction Clark gives to feeling the resistance. For as painful as suplexes can be, they're a bitch to get out of. For a moment, he's on his hands and feet, back facing the ground, and he gives himself a push upwards to try and get upright. Kim, however, is a bit faster to get to his feet, and while Clark's shifting frame gives a pretty clear indication of his intent to dodge... he's not fast enough. The knee slams home, causing the big Ikari to lose his air a moment, doubling over at the waist. Then the heel of the foot crashes onto the back of his head, and he's down on the floor. Or... wait. Is he? Though he's clearly dazed, the big man isn't down and out just yet. Catching himself on a knee and his hands, he suddenly surges upwards, still mildly dazed, though hoping to take advantage of knowing where Kim is anyway. If all goes well, Kim'll be lifted into the air by Clark's shoulders, and then his hands will come up and launch the Korean into the air...

Clark attempts to take advantage of Kim's attempt at recovery, but it doesn't go as well as the Ikari Warrior might have planned. Eyes alight as the larger man seems to be trying something, Kim does indeed launch into the air -- but only because he has pushed OFF of Clark and launched himself straight vertically into the air with those powerful legs, well out of the way of Mr. Steel as he grasps with those large hands. Still in the air, Kim ascends to the very top of the warehouse before /rapidly/ descending on Clark, twisting through the air. What's odd is -- both of his legs jut out to either side of him, in a splits formation as he seems to be rather intent on /slamming/ them into Clark without any bit of hesitation, flipping through the air so that one foot smashes against the back of his head... and then the other. "OOOORYAAAA!!" If it falls through correctly, Kim will be landing on the ground in splits, with a wide grin.

A grunt of vague annoyance is sent up as the Korean pushes himself into the air, rather than being thrown, as Clark would've had it. More at himself, mind, rather than the prowess of his opponent. But could he help not being on top of his game just now, seeing how powerful Kim's kicks were? Clark looks straight up as the man begins to come back down, and there's few options left to him at this point. But whatever he was going to try... it's all sent away as the foot impacts on the back of his head, the attack much stronger than he'd anticipated. It sends him stumbling, and the second foot manages to hit, as well, but this one sends the big man -flying- into a row of boxes, knocking them over and making Clark land in a heap. It takes him a moment to work back to his hands and knees, panting a little, and then he slowly rises to his feet. "Oh, man..." he manages to say. That's probably one of the better compliments he's given in a match, simply because he doesn't talk much. For now, though, Clark's gonna focus. Focus on what? Making sure that Kim didn't all of a sudden duplicate himself. Or was that triplicate? He couldn't tell. Vision was blurry...

As Clark goes flying, there's a blink and a wince on the park of Kim. Well, uh... ow, man. That looks as if it hurt an awful lot. For a moment, Kim looks concerned, rubbing the back of his head. Looks like he's stronger than even he knows! But... Clark's still getting up. He can still fight, it seems, which is really impressive. Kim whistles, and nods his head approvingly, even as he settles in to a more combat-ready position. "Alright..." He begins, feet sliding across the ground as he watches Clark carefully. "I'm going to go all out now, okay?!" He gives this warning, because it seems like the big man is still trying to recover. And then? And then Kim LEAPS at Clark, flying at him with /incredible/ speeds, his form becoming a blurr. But what Clark /might/ notice, as Kim speeds towards the other man...
Is that he's flying towards Clark UPSIDE DOWN.

That single kick knocks Clark towards the ground, but that's not the end of it. Oh, no. Not at all. In fact, it's only the beginning. Clark doesn't get to meet the ground; instead, he gets to meet the air. Kim launches off a straight vertical kick that smashes into the other man's chin, sending him straight up into the air. One after another after another, Kim keeps up those vertical jump kicks, launching Clark higher and higher until he nearly touches the roof. And then, when it's all said and done? Kim spins through the air, right next to Clark, slamming two spinning kicks into his side, to send him straight into the ground.

Well, he got his focus back. Though there is a moment's pause when he realizes Kim is coming at him -upside down-. But that wasn't really the part he should've concerned himself with, was it? No, it was the part that's now slamming into him, sending him to the ground. Or rather, would've, if the Korean hadn't followed up with another kick. And then another. And another. And... so on and so forth, a punishing series of kicks that, really, most men would have trouble even considering the possibility of getting back up from. But you know what? No sooner than Clark has hit the ground, than he's back up again. At first it's a sudden lifting of his upper torso, like the dead sitting up. He's panting heavily, obviously hurt pretty bad. His motions are a tad jerky, but he -still gets to his feet-. "My turn," he says as he happens to his feet, and then, he begins to charge towards Kim, arm outstretched, seeking to grab Kim by his face as he charges past...

Despite himself, he thought for sure that this would be Clark's final gung-ho. As it were. Or something. But Clark still charges onward, valiantly, and comes /fast/ too. Kim's eyes are widened even further at the sudden speed. But in that moment... they narrow. They narrow... with the determination of Justice's #1 Defender, with the determination of KOREAN'S EVERYWHERE. That hand seeks to grab Kim by the face asy Clark runs by, but Kim grabs /it/ with both hands. He holds with such force that it stops Clark DEAD in his tracks, using the momentum and his grip on Clark's arm to swing closer to him, as if his forearm were a monkeybar, and then? "KYAAAAAAAAAAAA!!" He's going to slam his feet into Clark, over, and over and over and over again in a series of /upwards/ bicycle kicks, using that one arm as an attempt to keep Clark /firmly/ in place as the onslaught continues before, finally, releasing with one last kick.

Clark's attack is so... effortlessly stopped. Whoa. Now that, like the earlier shockwaves, was something new. Clark's eyes widen behind his dark shades, and before he knows it, Kim's in motion again, this time swinging up and then attempting to slam more of those kicks into his head. Well, the Ikari wasn't going to take much more of those... both in the sense of being fed up with them, and also that he'd probably get knocked out before too much longer, if they kept up. So as the first kick slams into the back of his head, Clark ducks down, and then suddenly swings around, grabbing his opponent by the waist while he's going for another bicycle kick. Then? Kim is thrown into the air, this time successfully, and Clark gives a mighty roar of: "BOOYEAH!" as the Korean comes back down... on the big man's shoulders. Kim's literally grabbed out of the air, and then he's bent over Clark's shoulders, at an angle that should not feel very comfortable. Then, he's let go, possibly falling to the ground, as the mercenary turns back around to face him.

Well -- holy crap, ow. Kim is thrown upwards, blinking and eyes wide before Clark /slams/ him down across his shoulders in a manner that is incredibly painful and not fun in the slightest. Ow, ow ow. Kim did not see that coming, to be completely and totally honest. He's tossed aside, but still -- when Kim lands, he lands quite solidly on his feet. His eyes narrow, his resolve showing clear as his legs spread out. This guy is really good -- just like his partner. Kim nods once to the man, before he rushes forward once more, this time not as fast as previously... but fast enough. He rushes forward, intent on striking Clark solidly in the face with an open palm strike. And, following that up, the man twists in the air to slam a roudhouse kick into his side, filled with Korean JUSTICE. "HUUUUUUUUAAAAAAH!!!"

Clark's sentiments are much the same as Kim's. This guy was good. And the fight had been fun, despite the punishing feeling of the Korean's kicks. But then, he'd been told his suplexes and backbreakers weren't anything to sneeze at, either, so perhaps it was just a bit of his own medicine. Turning, Clark tries to adopt his fighting stance once more so he can be at the ready. He's on his last legs, but... he's still got a bit more fight in him. Of course, those last legs are swept out of him, at least mostly, when the palm strike comes, and slams into his lower face, lips mashing against his teeth painfully. His head snaps back, and then there's the leg crashing against his side... yeah, it hurts. But Clark's got at least one more trick up his sleeve, it seems, as before Kim can pull his leg away, Clark's already trying to wrap his arms around it and hold it to his side, his big frame beginning to move... what's he planning?

The blows each connect successfully, and this time, Kim is /positive/ the other man has seen his last fight. But... it seems that Clark can still try to pull off one last attempt at hurting Kim. He knows those arms coming for him are not a good sign. It probably means pain, lots and lots of throwing pain. So, before Clark can actually get a hold of his leg, Kim SNAPS it back rather quickly, thrusting it back to his side before he leaps far away from Clark, still in a combat-ready position in case the man comes after him. He's breathing a little heavily, but it's pretty clear -- he's still ready and able to continue fighting, and he's got more than abit of energy left to him.
