China China China!
Here's a little history for you, China is more populated with chinese more than any other ethnicity. It's true, look it up! Though todays league fight is set up in a rather.. Interesting locale, one that Xiangfei didn't even know existed over in one of the darker parts of china. It's a large, dark, abandoned shrine, 3 stories tall and looks exceptionally old, which is built somewhere in the middle of some forest.
The yard is made mostly of stone with broken statues near the stairwell that leads inside, which is where the fight is to take place.
Another cob-web ridden, semi-clear area, the floor made of creaky wood, and stairwells at either side of the room that both lead upstairs to the balcony. There are more broken statues and alters up front, urns, tables and what have you scattered and sort of cleaned up.
To the left of this proclaimed fighting area is the Heavenly Hip-Hop Honey Li Xiangfei, dressed in red pants and matching chinese blouse, hair drawn back in twin pigtails. She'd been waiting patiently for some time to get her hands on her opponent; though she's actually a bit unsettled with the chosen area, it's no secret that rumors say this shrine was abandoned because it's haunted by two lovers who were killed in here. Zoiks Scoob!
World-traveling is one of the things Hinata most enjoyed about her more recent Neo League battles. She's been to Greece, Mexico, and... well, that's about it. Turns out the league doesn't shell out for a lot of travel expenses for competitors lower on the rungs than star attractions, but she's starting to get some notice! This is her third fight outside of Southtown!
Pity it's such a dump. The house, that is, not China. China is neat from what she's gotten to see of it! The airport, the inside of the taxi, the long stretches of empty road all the way up to the spooky old shrine. Truth be told, that's about all she's gotten to see. But a haunted house? That's just a weird place to stage a fight if you asked her, but nobody ever did.
The Neo League crew had let her out of the car a short way down the road from the old shrine, then drove off without another word. Where were the camera crews, the judge, the ... everything? Jeez, just dropping off a high school girl in the middle of nowhere in China to a haunted house after dark? You'd think they were toying with her. Which they probably were.
"You'll need this," was all one of them had said, and had handed Hinata a flashlight. The path to the house was unlit. With a frown, the Taiyo girl switched on the flashlight and shined it up the footworn path to the abandoned shrine.
Far from scaring her, it was exhilirating. Was she supposed to fight a vampire or something? 'Cause that would totally rock. She'd always wanted to be the tough, smart (and perhaps slightly taller) heroine of a survival horror game!
"... Hello?" she calls out unsteadily toward the dark structure. Okay, enough's enough. It *is* a little creepy. The wind kicks up suddenly and does nothing to carry her voice over the remaining distance, blurring it into an unintelligible noise.

Xiangfei blinkblinks.. The area was actually rather well lit by candles once one got in far enough, and when the chinese girl hears Hinatas calling, there's a pause, a good long pause, and she covers her mouth, snickering as she tip-toes her way up the stairs, quickly undoing her pigtails and brushes her messy hair over her face; and peers over the balcony. She could get some revenge a little early, lucky her!
And so after a bit of patience, when she sees the flashlight shining into the main room, she steps on the balcony ledge, then leaps off, and with a quick motion of her hand, her chi blazes to life, a pillar of golden chi roaring around her small frame, as she crashes to the ground in front of her opponent, hands extended like claws, "WABAAAAGHLABAABAAAAAAAH!!!!!" she roars. Suprise! Tactical advantage!

Hinata makes a similar noise, though if it's possible, even less articulate. "UWAAAAAAAAAAAA!" She screams and drops the flashlight which switches itself off. Fear grips her heart for a split second before something entirely else overtakes it, forcing her into the first action her body can recognizably identify as being 'good for the current situation'.
She decks the ghost.
Not just a limp-wristed feeble 'get away from me' slap. An entire full body uppercut with as much strength as she can manage.

Ahhh.. Yes, the scream of a young schoolgirl is so exhilirating! Well, that's not the right word, it's more along the lines of 'really freaking funny', and the dropped flashlight was just the icing on the cake! Xiang gives a rather goofy expression, snorts, and then bursts out into laughter, "AHAHAHHAHA- OW!!" her arms luckily were out to take the brunt of the blow which actually breaks through enough to still smack her right in the forehead, her eyes crossing a bit. She staggers back a couple of steps, "What kind of girl actually -punches- an evil spirit??" she demands to know, the blaze having long since fizzled, and Xiangfei strikes back, hopping forward to try and strike Hinata across the chest, which is followed by a quick spin and a kick with her left foot, "Wataaaah!"

Xiangfei, however, doesn't stop there, for she completes the combination with a full body double-palm thrust right into Hinatas sternum, ftw!
Not enough fanservice, Hinata... Not enough fanservice...
Hinata is still standing there, one hand covering her face to ward off evil soul-sucking demons from the blackest pits of Hell itself, the other arrow straight from having just socked Xiangfei in the forehead.
"Don't *DO* that!" she shrieks, at last opening her eyes and letting them adjust to the dim candlelit interior of the haunted shrine. She blinks then stares at Xiangfei. "... YOU!" It's not a happy tone of voice, either. Of all the people to have a league match with it had to be *her*!
Hinata stamps a foot angrily. "If I'd known it was you and not some poor old ghost, I would've hit you harder!" But exchanging pleasantries apparently isn't on the menu. In the darkened interior, the Wakaba girl can barely make out what Xiangfei is doing after the bright pillar of chi fades away. So the first blow that glances off her cheek is a surprise, and the leg into her stomach is further surprising. The novelty wears off though, and the double-palm thrust to her chest is almost expected, but it still hurts a great deal. She staggers, hands to her stomach and doubled over.
"Cheap shot..." she wheezes, but that's about all she can manage. The room is starting to look brighter now, her eyes adjusting. She won't get caught off guard again.

Woah now hold on thar just a darn minute.. What's this talk about hitting her harder if she -wasn't- a ghost? That actually makes the chinese fighter frown a bit, rubbing the back of her head and shrugs with her opposite arm, "Whatever, hater," she replies, "Kids these days can't even take a joke," and that said, she's back on the offensive, the chinese girl furrowing her brows a bit, and then takes a step back, slipping a hand into her pocket- Hinata probably knows what's going to happen next, "So here's how it's gonna be, I'm going to take -you- down, and then Hotaru is next," her hands draw back as if about to throw a fireball, but she doesn't even throw her palms out, the coin just rockets from her hand with a little *tink*, spinning like a little bullet toward Hinatas headband if she's lucky, "Lets see how good a fighter you are against my chinese martial arts!"

"What was I supposed to do? You scared the crap outta me!" Hinata growls. Something about Xiangfei just gets under her skin, y'know? "And *you're* the one who's always 'hatin'. Picking on Mimiru, then you and that witch lady trying to beat up Hotaru when she was going grocery shopping? What's your problem, anyway?!"
Hinata's eyes flick open a little at the *tink* noise. She knows that sound. That's a 10 yen coin! Call it a gift, but Hinata knows the sound of money when she hears it. "So all I'm saying is, don't start nothing," She turns to the side and pulls both hands behind her, a twinkle of yellow light sparking to life between her palms. "Won't BE nothing!" The Sunshine Girl rocks her entire body forward and thrusts her palms out, the spark growing to a blazing light that casts the inside of the abandoned shrine with harsh shadows. Then the fireball happens, leaving her palms and intercepting the coin in mid-flight. It's hard to say what happened to it exactly, but when the Kikou Shoutei ball passes through it, the coin doesn't hit Hinata. It doesn't even land. Maybe it.. evaporated?

"What's -my- problem, more like what's -your- damage!" Xiangfei retorts, a bit too annoyed herself to actually be heartbroken about her money being suddenly the victim of.. You know, oblivion. That sucks though! "You're just sticking your nose where it doesn't belong, and now look where its gotten you!" Xiangfei hops backward, grabbing oe of the discarded urns and sweeps it forward at the last moment; it isn't enough to take it out completely, but.. I could have been worse, right?
The chinese girl rubs at her chest with a light grunt, "Anyway, this is between us and them, and not -you-, unless what, you've joined Mimirus gang now?"
"I haven't joined anything! But it looks to me like you're the one who's going around causing all the trouble." Hinata is just riling herself up, and she sees that now. The more she gets frustrated, the more Xiangfei does too. She keeps talking, but doesn't relax from her fighting stance, fists raised to just below chin level.
"Look, I really don't have a problem with you, alright? This isn't personal, so don't make it that way. I don't know how these team things work, but if it means attacking people when they're just out minding their own business, I don't want any part of it." She exhales gratefully, having talked for long enough to catch her breath back from the first few painful strikes she received.

Xiangfei settles back a little bit, eyes half-lidding as she keeps her own open-palm stance, and she rolls her eyes, "Don't make it personal you say, after you've already got a tarnished record, good going, slick," Xiangfei mutters back, "Of -course- I'm going to look like the one causing trouble, they're your friends for gods sake! Why would you think it's your -friends- that would be starting trouble! Come on!" Xiangfei sprints forward again, this time though, she tumbles along the wooden floor and springs off her feet to try and slam her shoulder into Hinata now, with a powerful, "KYAH!" and hit or miss, "Like I said, you're NOSEY, you have no idea what's going on, and you get involved anyway! 'Not want any part of it' my butt!"

"Oof!" Hinata wails, knocked clear off her feet and onto the dusty, creaky wooden floor by Xiangfei's flying shoulder tackle. She is shaken, but not down! The girl kicks both feet in the air and flips backwards to get to her feet. Dang, that really is a short skirt, y'know?
An orange armwarmer wipes gently at her nose. "You're not making any friends behaving like that. But what d'you expect me to do, huh? You just show up and start messing with my friends, of course I'm gonna give you grief! I'd do the same if you messed with any of my friends! Batsu, Kyosuke, Mimiru, Sakura.. so maybe if you're so intent on fighting with these stupid teams, you wouldn't do it when other people are around to interfere!"
The Sunshine Girl crouches, balling her right fist at her side. It suddenly erupts in orange chi flames that spiral around her forearm. "EAT THIS!" She launches diagonally upwards to catch Xiangfei in the chin. This is, after all, a League match.

Xiangfei smirks a little, seeming rather impressed with herself as she manages to hit Hinata pretty hard again.. Though she doesn't get too cocky, particularly when one name in particular hits her ears, "Huh? What?" though that's to the comment of making friends; she didn't exactly expect that, as she had always considered herself extremely easy to make friends with. It's just with the right buttons she's just as easy to make an enemy with, "Whatever, I'm not going to back down from my business just because someone I don't know is standing there as well," she replies, though afterward she's not too successful in defending Hinatas sudden uppercut; ow! She staggers back, looking rather suprised again at the rather familiar blow, ".. Wait.. You're friends with Sakura?" she then asks, though she does retaliate, sweeping low and then bursts upward, a ring of smoke billowing from beneath her feet, hoping to catch Hinata with her shoulder rather than with an uppercut, "WatAAAH!"

The smoke is a nice trick, but Hinata's not having any of the shoulder tackling anymore. Bracing her left arm firmly, she puts her hand forward and actually catches Xiangfei's leading shoulder in her palm. The impact is still strong enough to drive her feet skidding back almost a foot, and she really does feel it in the bones of that arm. But it's a more attractive option that taking it in the face or anything.
Holding the fight to a momentary standstill, Hinata locks eyes with her opponent. "Yeah, I am. What of it? We've been friends since middle school. You gonna make fun of me for that too?" It has never escaped Hinata's notice that she and Sakura are similar. Nor has it escaped her attention that she sometimes gets stopped in the street by people who mistake her for her friend and want an autograph from THE Sakura Kasugano, either. It just happens, and she's pretty used to it by now.
Not to say it doesn't still bug her just a little bit, though.
Still holding Xiangfei by one shoulder, Hinata cocks her other arm back to strike. Her fist faintly glows. But instead of just clocking Xiangfei one, Hinata grabs her by the ornate collar of her shirt and whips the two of them around in a circle before finally letting go and transferring all the momentum to Xiangfei and letting go in a perfect hammer throw. Li Xiangfei, meet ceiling.

Xiangfei can't really explain the smoke. It just seems wherever she fights there's dust to kick up. The chinese fighter actually needs a moment to think, not so much about Hinatas technique which she can't quite break free from, and she slams up into the ceiling, which makes some of the rock crumbles or fall from above, collapsing with a loud crash to the ground, "Oof!!" Xiangfei drops, holding her back for a moment, ".. Maybe I judged you a little too harshly," she replies, which is sort of kind of an answer to the girls question.. Kind of. However inexplicably, another cloud of dust bursts behind her upon plummeting, the force sending the waitress flying at Hinata with her foot extended, looking to hit her alarmingly hard in the shoulder and landing in a crouch. Should that connect, she spins around and slams her palms into the girls side, "Hyah! HAH!" and the combo is finalized with a quick spin as she attempts to hit the girl with once more, you guessed it, a powerful shoulder rush! "HiiiiiYAH!"

In response to Xiangfei, Hinata has very little to say at the moment. She's really more busy getting smacked around quite a lot. The first hit catches her in the shoulder and the whole thing goes downhill from there. Xiangfei's fast and her ability to string together multiple hits is, frankly, pretty damn admirable.
With the final shoulder strike, the lightweight Wakaba girl takes off like a cork from a champagne bottle, firmly backwards and straight through a decorative carved wooden partition which grudgingly gives way with lots of splintering and cracking noises that don't sound very pleasant at all.
Except for little bits of the partition deciding they've had enough and falling off, things are pretty quiet from the darkened room Hinata's been forcefully thrown into. There are no candles in there and the settling dust makes it even harder to see in. Nothing seems to move in the darkness for a long moment. Then a heavy footstep, a quiet 'hut!' and something comes flying out of the open hole in the wall.
It's a tennis shoe.

Though little does Hinata know, in that dark room is all sorts of ghosts, ready to totally curse and possess Hinata, OHNOES!
Actually that's not true at all, and Xiangfei has to kind of respect the girls tactic from there; how can she defend what she can't see? But kung-fu eyes actually spot the shoe just in time for her to reach into her pocket and whip her hand out again, and attached to it? her beloved N-Gage system, protected in a silver color plate that slams into the shoe with expert precision and it bounces off to the side, "HAH!" a quick spin, and it goes back into her pocket, good as new, ".. That's a new one," she murmurs, starting to walk then toward the side room. Did she totally beat the girl?
From the darkened cavern newly made in the abandoned shrine, nothing much seems to happen for yet another long moment. Wait for it...
"Hiyaaaaaaaah!" Hinata yells, springing forth from the darkness, arms extended to pounce like some giant pouncing predator thing. Which she is not, but she'll give a go nonetheless.
She makes a grab for Xiangfei's collar to flip herself up and over the other fighter, then firmly plant her socked foot right in the soft spot at the top of the neck. A good kick should be enough to drive Li Xiangfei's face into the other friend Hinata wants her to meet, since she's already been nicely introduced to the ceiling. "Kiss the floor!"

Another familiar technique! Though obviously all of them have their own little spin on it, so.. Xiangfei can't really say if this is shotokan style or not. However poor Hinata had no idea that she had left a huge opening in her overhead attack, and as soon as Hinatas technique completes (and it actually does,) Xiangfei crashes onto the ground, but as soon as she does -another- huge cloud of dust blows out below here that sends her ricochetting back twice as fast as she was driven downward! with the fastest flying shoulder-rush in the business. The result?
She knocks the schoolgirl clear out the sky, "NO U!"
Taiyo High is famous for one thing. Well, a number of things, but this is the one thing Hinata holds most dear. Spirit. A burning spirit that never gives up. Ever.
So when her attack goes very very painfully wrong, is she beat? Is she going to collapse on the floor and call the fight? Is she going to throw in the towel just because she just got totally beat down by Xiangfei? If you answered 'yes' to any of the above questions, you are not Hinata Wakaba.
Tumbling painfully across the wooden floor and stirring up a cloud of dust, the Sunshine Girl takes most of the scrapes to the right side of her face and shoulder. But amazingly, or perhaps not, she gets back up. Shakily at first, but not letting anything get her down. Oh, there's her other shoe. She slips it back on calmly.
Huffing a breath, Hinata blows a few hairs out of her face and reseats her headband firmly. "You're pretty good," she offers truthfully. No point in put-downs now. Xiangfei *is* good. The back of a hand dabs at her right cheeks with the bright orange armwarmer Hinata always wears. Hmm, blood. That's not good. "But I'm not down just yet."
Like that super cool moment right at the end of every kung fu movie, Hinata lifts her fists and smiles. Just a quick smile to show that everything is alright. She doesn't bear a grudge, but she'll be damned if she just falls down and faints. Canting forward, she slaps a hand on the dusty wood floor, sending a wave of dust outward from her. And then it keeps going, because there's this really really neat flaring aura of chi all around her. It's *totally* sweet.
"ORYAAAA!" With a creak of protest from the floorboards, Hinata launches herself forward and into the air. Short skirts are made for some things, but awesome helicopter kicks that glow with rainbow chi is not one of them. She doesn't mind, though. Alternating strikes with her right and left foot as long as she can keep herself in the air, Hinata twirls toward Xiangfei not so much like a dancer, but more like a perky but destructive force of nature. "Rasen Enbukyakuuuuuuuu!

Her energy finally spent, Hinata actually can't even force herself to stand afterwards. No matter how much she mentally tries to will it, they just won't respond. She falls to her knees with a clunk, then onto her face.
Xiangfei, on the other hand, tries not to hold grudges- It's kind of difficult for her to accomplish with the way her wacky brain works. But when Hinata gets up after her powerful blow, she looks astonished! And that brings a small smile of her own on her face, "Hah, so that's how it is, show me what you have!" and Hinata does, it's a lot of energy, and a whole lot of fan service; which doesn't have much effect on the chinese fighter, she taking on the first two kicks with skilled deflections of her palm.. But that hurts too much, she just leaping back once the sting hits too hard, "Hnn!"
Xiangfei pants lightly, and Hinata is finally down- And well... The girl isn't feeling too bitter after that really, so she just flumps onto the ground, sitting cross-legged as she lets out a small huff of air, "Whew.." she'll stick around at least until Hinata wakes up, then she's on her own!

Hinata's voice is slightly muffled, face in the floorboards and all. She can't even muster the energy to get back up or turn her head to one side. "... Did I win?" she asks shakily. No, totally not moving. Once you get used to it, old floorboards in a haunted shrine in the middle of nowhere in China can be quite comfortable.
Xiangfei glances to Hinata once she starts to stir, and the girl herself? Oh she can sleep on floors, she can sleep anywhere she wants if she puts her mind to it! To the girls question though, the Hip-Hop Honey sweatdrops and shakes her head, ".. um.. Not exactly," she replies with a weak chuckle, "But it was close, Hinata, you've got real spirit, just like my teamates." she hops up to her feet then, and points to the girl, "Our ride should be coming back in a bit, if we go togeather we can split the fare to the airport.. But after that you're on your own, ok?" she guesses Hina'd pass out as soon as they got to the vehicle anyway, she kneeling to help support the girl up.
Putting her arm around Xiangfei's shoulder, Hinata struggles back to her feet. It's not like she weighs much anyway, so it's pretty easy to help her along. "Oh well.. I tried my best. You're really strong, Xiangfei. Sorry about before." Though with help, she'll make it back to the taxi just fine. "I think... you're pretty cool."
Maybe she'll get around eventually to asking why Xiangfei was so surprised when Hinata said she was friends with Sakura. But not now, at least. Things are... hurty. Maybe in the taxi. Yeah, that'd be okay.
The taxi is indeed waiting for the pair of them, a little ways down the path from the shrine. Hinata reflects, quietly, that while it may have looked kinda spooky, it was alright. She wasn't too scared, really.
And in the second story window, a pale figure peers out silently, but before it can be seen clearly, it's gone again. Hinata shakes her head and turns back to the waiting taxi. She must've gotten knocked in the head pretty good. Thought she saw somebody up there.
