Match of the Millennium

Description: In the Rising Stars tournament, it's on between Kelly and Yuri. Will Kelly triumph once again? Or will the awesomeness of Kyokugen Karate come out on top? (WINNER: Yuri)

[YURI]
Rising Stars? Sounds like something for amateurs and wannabes in the opinion of Yuri Sakazaki.

"I'm no 'Rising Star," Yuri would tell those who interviewed her before her fight. "I just happened to qualify for this for some dang reason." With that, her scowl would turn into a grin as she adds, "I am Yuri Sakazaki, the Queen of the Awesome Style of Kyokugen Karate!" She gives a double peace sign briefly.

Once she's done showing off, Yuri looks around again before continuing. "My goal here is not to prove that I'm an up-and-coming star. My goal here is to show off the awesomeness of Kyokugen Karate! I will show everyone what it's truly about, while my opponent provides an opportunity for me to demonstrate!"

After she's done, Yuri is up and on her way into the training area where her fight is. She stops to wave to those who are stopped to watch and gives her trademark greeting about being the Queen of Kyokugen Karate, as is her standard style. Then she goes to her designated spot to warm up and prepare for her fight against her opponent.

"Whoever it is, they'd better be ready for a blast of awesomeness! Because that's what Kyokugen Karate's all about!" Yuri says as she taps her fists together.

[KELLY]
"You always go on and on about Kyokugen. Eeeevery single time. Yadda yadda yadda....." comes a voice from near the entrance. Kelly can be seen in the doorway, smirking at Yuri as she walks towards the arena.

Thems be FIGHTIN words!

"Seriously, i know you want to honor your style and school, but you REALLY need some hobbies to talk about". She laughs as she enters the ring "..... which is funny considering i'm the one saying that. Should take my own advice". She takes off her light jacket and moves to the center of the arena, giving Yuri a light bow and an smirk as her eyes begin to glow faintly "We're one for one. Lets see who breaks the tie, hhmm?".

[YURI]
"Hobbies? I have quite a few, thank you very much," Yuri says with a scowl as she folds her arms. "Softball happens to be one of those hobbies, as is hanging out at the video arcade sometimes..." She narrows her eyes. "But I'm just very passionate about my style. Namely because I'm going to become the first female master of my style, even if my dad and brother don't believe it!" With that, Yuri closes her eyes and hmmphs. "Typical misogynists."

But then Yuri focuses on Kelly again. "The fact remains, I have the right to promote my style if I want to, and NOBODY is gonna stop me!" She points at Kelly. "Especially the same person who defeated me the last time we met!" She slides her foot towards her opponent. "It's payback time!"

Of course, the issue of the referee letting her start is an issue as he briefly has to hold her back until the signal to begin is given. It's only when that signal is given that Yuri shoots forth one of her fireball-style projectiles at Kelly as if attempting to drive her point home.

Kelly grins as Yuri seems to take the bait. She knows the girl can be a bit hot-headed. The goad works, and when the attack comes, shes ready for it.

A simple forwards and sideways step, and the projectile of energy sails right past Kellys face close enough for the displacement of air to rustle her hair! "Third times the charm!". She reaches for Yuris outstretched arm from the attack, intent on grabbing the wrist before the opening is lost. If successful, shes pulls Yuri forwards into a knee strike, followed by a judo throw, and finished with an overhead axe kick with Kellys heel brought down on the downed Yuris stomach!

"Charm for who?" Yuri asks, scowling as her projectile misses, and then widening her eyes as she gets caught by Kelly. Upon realizing what she plans to do, Yuri immediately tightens her stomach as the knee comes at her. Painful as it is, deflecting an attack with tightened abs isn't as bad as actually being hit. Meaning that she is reeling a bit but not as bad as she could have. Nevertheless, she is not happy about things getting off to a bad start on her end.

"If you think you're coming out on top, let me just tell you that I was a bit off my game last time, but not this time!" She rubs her stomach briefly before stepping back a little. "I've learned from my mistakes and I plan to show you just how truly amazing I really am!" There's a deliberate deep breath as if she's sizing up Kelly, or maybe just trying to stay focused?

"Because even the simplest of techniques can be awesome!" Yuri says as she tries to go towards Kelly's ankles with a sweeping kick.

Kelly notices Yuris eyes flick for a moment down at her ankle mere milliseconds before the attack comes. In response, she shifts her weight and the angle of her foot, so instead of sweeping the leg, it strikes and slides up without interrupting her balance. It hurts, but it's worth it to potentially put Yuri in a bad spot.

"Good! Hope it's enough!" is Kellys only response as she begins to glow with psionic energy.... which then promptly BURSTS in a small explosion of said energy centered on herself, striking and knocking around anything close to her person!

"I can definitely assure you it's more than enough," Yuri says as she returns to her stance, watching Kelly carefully and intent on proving her point. "I've learned new abilities and tactics that you could only dream of with your non-Kyokugen style arts." As Kelly glows with her psionic energy, Yuri smiles a little. "Don't think you've got it made, because I've got other tricks up my sleeve as well. My Kyokugen arts are able to handle things such as--"

Being knocked down?

Yuri raises her hands and attempts to shoot up a shield of chi in hopes of knocking Kelly's attack away, but it's not fast enough, and she's sent spinning onto the ground. "Owwww!" Yuri yells as she rubs at her body, feeling a bit of pain racking it as she forces herself up back onto her feet. Now clearly packing a few bruises on her face, Yuri narrows her eyes and grits her teeth. "Such as dealing with cheap attacks like that! And don't go thinking you stopped me in my tracks, I simply zigged when I should have zagged! After all, even the best of the best make mistakes!"

[KELLY]
They're good points that Yuri makes.....

Too bad Kelly didn't stop to listen to them!

The moment Yuri had been knocked back and down, Kelly LEAPS into the air above her, trailing a shimmering black aura of energy behind her body as she moves through the air. She has an uncharacteristic, almost manic, grin and her foot trails darkness in it's arc as she drops down towards Yuri heel first in a flying axe kick, again aimed at her stomach where she had been kneed before!

Once Kelly goes airborne, Yuri scowls, thinking she's got some nerve to attack her while she's finishing up her speech. "Oh yeah?" Yuri asks, preparing to step back, but not quite in time as she's hit in the stomach and goes staggering to the ground again. This time, the girl is clenching her stomach and groaning as she tries to get up with a kippup, but once she does so, she holds her stomach yet again. The girl takes a few moments to catch her breath before looking up with an even deeper scowl.

"OK, that's it! No more Miss Nice Girl!" She takes a couple more deep breaths, teeth gritted with sweat forming on her forehead and a slight slump to her stance from the pain in her stomach. "I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt, but no more!" Yuri brings both hands behind her back and begins to summon all of her chi. "I figured I'd try to make this a simple enough fight, but it's obvious you aren't playing nicely. Well neither am I!" With that, Yuri brings forth a LARGE fireball, intent on proving her point to Kelly.

Kelly seems to stop for a moment after her attack. She blinks her eyes and shakes her head to clear..... something. "What was.....".

Unfortunately, she neither hears Yuris speech, nor has the time to react she normally would have. She goes for the first thing she can think of. Her palm glows with white psionic energy and she attempts to palm strike the projectile away and back at Yuri in a near-panic. This, sadly, fails, and it strikes her hard in the shoulder, spinning her around and knocking her prone with a burning pain in the impact point. Between that and recovering from some kind of momentary lapse, she is quite stunned for the moment....

[YURI]
"Nice try," Yuri says with a slight smile, even if she's still clearly in pain. "I have to hand it to you, that was a valiant effort on your part. It's not often that people try to deflect my Haoh Sho Ko Ken." She shakes her head. "But I don't recommend it unless you're trying to emulate the sensation of trying to stop a train with your bare hands." But then her smile disappears. "OK, maybe that's a bit extreme, but the fact still remains that you shouldn't try to stop that unless you... well... who cares?"

Yuri still maintains her fighting stance, bouncing on her heels, albeit with a slight grimace as she feels the pain in her abs not going away. "The point is that Kyokugen will come out on top, and that I will be one of those who does it! I've come back from a possible defeat many times, and I'm gonna do it again! Just you wait and see!" A step, and another, and then another...

And then Yuri comes running at Kelly, attempting to launch into her own personal variation of the Dragon Punch, which was developed by her father, but modified to her own style.

If your fighting someone, its never wise to give them time to recover.....

Which Yuri does marvelously with her lecture. By the time she reaches Kelly, said opponent has already stoop back up, and brings both her arms down to catch and stop the rising arm before it can do more than bruise her forearms "You need to admit you have a problem.....". She then uses her arm position from the block to try to grab Yuris arms, pull her forwards into a headbutt, and follow it up with a shoulder throw.

"I've got a problem?" Yuri says as she narrows her eyes. "You haven't BEGUN to see a problem!" She steps back a little and begins to glow a little as her chi flows through her body. "I'll give you a REAL problem in the form of what I'm truly capable of! I've been holding back until now!"

Then as soon as Kelly comes at Yuri, the Kyokugen prodigy proceeds to launch into a more powerful version of her previous attack, this one going up not once but TWICE! The first one sends Kelly airborne, then the second one hits her while she's still airborne.

Of course, Kelly did manage to grab Yuri first, but that made it more exciting in Yuri's opinion.

"That'll teach you to say something like that to me!" Yuri says as she proceeds to rub her stomach. "You never know when you might have to eat your own words!"

[KELLY]
Kelly lands hard, and rolls with the impact, before righting herself on a sliding knee. She smirks slowly, eyes glowing brightly with white light as she says four words to finish her earlier thought.

"..... you talk too much".

With that she practically EXPLODES with psionic energy! Not like before, where it went outwards in an attack. This is her entire body just becoming awash in bright bluish-white light and energy, so much she isn't even able to contain it all!

Suddenly, she's gone from where she had been kneeling, reappearing low and incoming at Yuri! She sends a palm strike from below, aimed at Yuris jaw to knock her into the air. Following this, she spins in an overhead arc with her foot, bringing the heel of her foot around towards Yuris temple!

"Excuse me? I do not talk too much!" Yuri says with a scowl. "But if you'd rather I shut up, then maybe I will... after I'm done with you!" The girl narrows her eyes. "Come on, show me what you got!"

Kelly's gone in a flash of light, and then she's coming at Yuri, attempting to catch her off-guard, and maybe it would work in some cases. In fact, if Yuri hadn't been on her A-game, she probably would've been down for the count and out of this round. But that's just one potential situation.

Instead, Yuri immediately deflects away the palm strike in literally the blink of an eye, before shifting aside to make sure Kelly hits nothing but air.

"I talk too much, perhaps, but at least I know when to strike and when to defend," Yuri says. "Let's see if you can do the same!" She adds before attempting to grab Kelly from behind and throw her onto the ground.

Kelly is too focused on her movements to answer. She ERKs as she's thrown, landing hard again and rolling again to a kneeling position..... before leaping HIGH up into the air and coming down at Yuri again, an expression of rage in her features! This time she leads with a descending chop that would strike down the front of Yuris body, trailing psionic energy in its wake, before crouching, reaiming, and launching an upwards kick with the heel at Yuris chin, potentially sending her airborn!

"This again?" Yuri says as she brings her hands up again and encircles them in her chi once again. "Come on, can't you do something more original?" The girl remains focused as always, but her tone is clearly sarcastic. And this time, her ruse works. The attack is stopped completely by her shield. Once that's taken care of, Yuri steps back a little and rubs her abdomen one last time. "This can go either way," Yuri says as she wipes her forehead. "It's still anyone's fight."

She smiles a little. "Although given how things have changed, I wouldn't be surprised if I walk out the winner!" She sticks out her tongue briefly before getting back into her fighting stance. "So come on, show me what you got! I'd love to show off my awesomeness still!"

[KELLY]
The wild enegy coursing through Kellys body begins to fade, and lethargy starts to set in. She has one good shot left in her.....

As Yuri sticks her tongue out, Kelly makes her move. She gloooooows brighter, eyes flaring, and throws her hands forwards, creating a large orb of intense psionic energy that, while short range, would hit like a hammer if it connected!

The attack delivered, before she has a moment to see the effect, Kellys brilliance fades, and she wobbles on her feet as the effort of channeling so much energy catches up with her.....

[YURI]
When you're on the ropes, you tend to do anything you can to keep going... But sometimes even your best is not enough. Because despite being beaten and battered, Yuri's still got it within her to avoid Kelly's incoming attack. She's not about to let herself be knocked out so easily.

"Come on, you can do better than that!" Yuri says as she steps back slowly, trying not to grimace more from the pain. "Here, catch this!" Yuri then says as she jumps into the air and throws a fireball down at Kelly.

It's all she can do to stay on her feet after the display of sheer power output Kelly just displayed moments ago..... When Yuris counterattack comes, her attempts to repel it akin to before are slow and clearly weakened. So much so that the psionic energy enshrouding Kellys hands to perform her deflection fail, and fade mid-motion. The projectile plows through and knocks Kelly on her back where she is still, passed out from exhaustion.

[YURI]
When Yuri lands and realizes that her attack landed... and knocked Kelly out, the match is signalled to stop and Yuri is declared the winner. Weak as she is, she raises her hands, then walks over to where Kelly is.

"Win or lose, that was still an awesome match I hope you know!" Yuri says with a huge smile on her face. "You'll do better next time! Thanks for being a great demonstration target for the awesomeness of Kyokugen!" She gives a thumbs up and a wink.

After that, Yuri walks back to the backstage area so she can be treated for her injuries and prepare for whatever comes next.
