Match of the Millennium

Description: The allies of Colonel Umberto Domenico are in full force as well. Most infamous is the dreaded Lotus, the crazed knife-wielding fiend. But not all creatures of the dark serve said darkness. Lei Lei, the strange jiangshi, or hopping vampire, may seem like just another soldier in the darkstalker army. But the young lady shows much more than her mundane brethren; Lei Lei and her sister Lin Lin are joined by mystic ritual, dedicated to hunting down vicious monsters like Lotus. And should she drive away the crazed killing Darkstalker, she can move on lend her unique talents to the front lines of this war.

This is what Lotus lives for!

When word reached her of Colonel Umberto needing to fall back a bit, and for her to run interferance on the flank, she was eager to get started! Since then, she has wasted no time in performing this task! Moving in a blur through the trees, Lotus is hunting! Any who have passed through the forest have fallen to her thirst for violence so far, so far none having been seen again dead OR alive. Whatever their fate, the flank so far has still held as the UN/Darkstalker forces continue the battle unimpeded!

Her yellow slitted eyes alert for other trespassers, she continues to maintain her vigil over this approach!

[LEI LEI]
Lei Lei (and Lin Lin) have had a task.

They haven't really joined the general assault by the rest of the Darkstalkers because that's not what they want to do. Lei Lei does not enjoy killing, really, and has not been going out of their way to engage in it. But there are ... threats in Japan as well as anywhere else. Mystic or otherwise, they need to be dealt with.

And Lotus is, by now, infamous. She's killed enough to draw the attention of the strange Darkstalker mystic. But Lei Lei is not very experienced at going up against strange mystic threats, really, and Lin Lin isn't any better.

Which is probably why she just... walks into the forest. The way people have been being ambushed going into it, she figures she'll get found and that will save her the difficulty of hunting whatever mad murderer is about their business in there. She figures, what are they going to do, kill her? She's already a hopping vampire!

Silence fills the forest. Anyone that is a routine hunter or nature lover would know this is a baaaaaaad sign.

Forests should never be dead silent. No birds.... no insects..... no rustle of animals..... something is off enough that even they have wisely stayed in their dens or hideaways.

Lei Lei is unaccosted as she enters. Several minutes pass, and still nothing. Her presence, however, HAS been noticed! Those yellow cat-like eyes burn intensly as they stare down at her from the leafy canopy above. Suddenly, a branch snaps, likely drawing Lei Leis attention to the left and behind

This is the only warning Lei Lei might have before Lotus makes her move, attacking from the opposite side in a leaping stab attack! She literally attempts to LEAP onto Lei Lei from above, plunging a dagger into the hopping vampire and using it to hold on to her prey to commence further attacks! No words are spoken by Lotus, she merely grins with the normal madness associated with her when in a fight!

Lei Lei has spent enough time in the woods to know that when the woods are this quiet, it's not a good sign. She's alert too, even if she looks like an ordinary girl out for a walk. An ordinary, blu-ish girl with gigantic metal claws and a long charm hanging off her hat -

Okay, maybe scratch the 'ordinary' part.

Lotus does manage to get the drop on her, but it's not complete surprise. Lei Lei had been paying attention, and not just with her physical senses; when Lotus drops on her, the hopping vampire spins, completely violating the legend that she can only move at right angles as she... well, hops out of the way, neatly avoiding an upraised tree root.

"So you're the threat...? You're not exactly what I expected to see," Lei Lei admits, as she pulls one of her gigantic hands into her sleeve, then tosses something in a low arc at Lotus. It appears to be...

...did she just throw a two-foot statue? WHY did Lei Lei have that up her sleeve??

With a blur of motion, Lotus' bats the statue away. Her arm has GOT to hurt after that, but the speed of the motion is suffecient to knock the object off course, as a large bruise appears on her forearm. She doesn't seem to care, eyes locked on LeiLei "Oooohhhh.... you actually dodged me. You're gonna be fun! Are you REALLY a blueblood though, i wonder?". She giggles, which becomes a cackle, at her own joke, as she hops forwards, then spins in low on landing to attack from the side with one of her daggers!

The statue - maybe it's more of a statuette? Lei Lei isn't an art critic - thumps into a tree and stops moving.

Lei Lei, too, stops moving. She catches the slashes with her gigantic clawed hands, trying to hold Lotus' wild strikes away from her. She's mostly successful, though Lotus does manage to scratch her arm. Not that you'd notice; she doesn't bleed at all.

"Are you crazy?" she yelps. She suddenly reaches out for Lotus, trying to grab her with those hands of her - but rather than slash her up, she simply tosses Lotus high into the air if she manages it. Lotus might be unlucky and hit a tree, though - there's enough of those around. "What kind of person are you?"

%Lotus just smirks as her attack is block "Crazy is a matter of opinion!". She is grabbed and flung, but it doesn't work out as Leilei likely expected!

Realigning herself in midair, Lotus plants her feet on a tree as she hits the top of the arc, and then pushes off and down, adding momentum to the attack! She lashes out at Leileis back with her clawed fingertips as she lands next her "I'm a NICE person! Couldn't you tell?"

"Not really!"

Lei Lei is not having second thoughts about wanting to do this, but she /is/ having second thoughts about the method by which she's going about it. She can't seem to get ahold of Lotus. Maybe the claws would work better...? Or something else - that gives her an idea.

Lei Lei avoids being slashed by moving forward, fast enough that the big ol' bow on her outfit billows in the speed of her passage. When she turns this time, she's pulled in one of her claws and stuck out a ball and chain, which she swings in wide sweeping arcs to try to connect with Lotus at least a little bit. "You're a danger to everyone, the way you are!"

Lotus brings up her daggers and moves forwards, her arms absorbing the shock of the impact as they connect with the chain just past the spiked ball, and then promptly ducks underneath said chain as said spiked ball swings over her head due to the shift in momentum the block brings!

Coming up fast as she leaps to the side, Lotus throws a smaller knife, needle sharp and pointy, at Leilei "So says the one with spiked balls and chains up her sleeves! That must get complicated fast..... teeeeeeeheeheehee!".

Lei Lei pulls the ball, chain and all, back into her sleeve as soon as she's done swinging it. It vanishes without a trace. Her sleeves are places of magic and mystery.

Busy with swapping her weapons around, Lei Lei does /not/ manage to do what she'd intended to do when she had a knife thrown at her. This one hits her and sticks right in her shoulder, causing her to stagger back for a moment. She reaches up to pull it out, which is a rather tricky thing to do with claws like the ones she's got - maybe she has real hands under there, but if so they're not visible.

"Oh, you want to see what's up my sleeves?" Lei Lei lunges to clear the distance between her and Lotus. Despite her words, nothing comes out of her sleeve; she drives her clawtips toward Lei Lei in a quick stab, then backs away again. "I'll show you a thing or two if you really want!"

A visible wince crosses Lotus' face as Leileis sudden forward rush catches her off guard as well as in mid-stop! 6 decent cuts line her chest, 3 on each side, bleeding freely. Lotus doesn't seem to stop to pay attention to them however, and they visibly stop bleeding within seconds.... and even seem to slooooowly be closing before Leileis very eyes!

With a loud and sudden "HA!" Lotus leaps in and out herself, sending 4 quick stabs of her own at Leilei in much the same manner! "You got more up your sleeves than a magician! Wonder WHO might be in there, too!".

"Nothing up my sleeves but me!" For someone fighting a crazed killer, Lei Lei is still (somehow) in a decent mood. It must be a super power. But she's not lying; Lin Lin isn't up her sleeves...

Lei Lei spots the regeneration, of course, but she doesn't comment. She can't, really, it's not like she's any more natural. But it does reinforce her decision that it was a good idea to stop Lotus from going on her murder spree. She hunkers down, holding one arm across her body defensively, the other claw-out to try to stop the assault.

And then, suddenly, Lei Lei acts. "Surprise!"

Lei Lei swings her sleeve-but-no-claw arm forward, and a giant weight falls out of her sleeve, slamming into the ground with enough force to make a small tremor. It's followed up by a faint rumbling noise and then a whole shower of spiked balls cascading out of Lei-Lei's outstretched sleeve. They ricochet despite their size, bouncing and skipping every which way and just generally making a huge mess of things.

Grazing Hit

When Leilei says 'suprise!', it catches Lotus just thusly. She has moments to look up before a large weight comes falling from that enormous sleeve, along with spiked balls aplenty!

In a blur, Lotus zips between them, dodging this way and that, dodging them all effortlessly!

At least, ALMOST all!

She mistimes one step, and gets grazed by two of the balls, one knocking her into the path of the other. They leave gashes on each side of her torso, but these, like the stabs, bleed only briefly before they appear to begin to slooooowly close again.

In an attempt to take advantage of the situation, Lotus rushes in on Leilei once agian, in an attempt to take advantage of any momentary hesitation or recovery the vampire gal has!

As she passes, she swings both daggers low, across the abdoman, right where the intestines usually are found in a normal human!

The balls keep on rolling. Most of them are out of sight pretty quickly.

Lei Lei pulls the weight back in though because she might need it again later. She was really hoping that that would smash Lotus, or at least slow her down for a moment, but she seems as fast as ever. Lei Lei looks like an easy target, wrestling with that gigantic weight (is that a face on it, now that you get a better look?)

She's not. Lei Lei backs up so fast she almost leaves her hat behind; her gigantic claw pinches it almost delicately and pulls it after her, putting it back on her head and adjusting the paper charm on it just so. Once she's got it back in place, she strikes back at Lotus.

Crouching low to prevent another gut shot, Lei Lei plants her claws in front of her and almost 'walks' on them, pulling her seated body behind like it was no big thing. It's easier to see the mechanical jointing near the base of the claws as they scrabble and pull her forward, grinding over Lotus too if she doesn't get out of the way!

Lotus sees this coming a mile away, and easily leaps in the air in an effort to dodge, as well as to meet Leilei in midair!

Her grinning face, eyes full of bloodlust, quickly closes on her target, and she attempts to plunge both daggers into Leileis chest, simply and effectively!

COMBATSYS: Lei Lei interrupts Deep Strike from Lotus with Edoga.

Lei Lei rises after she's claw-walked about two meters, hopping (ha) back to her feet with a roll of her neck. This means that Lotus hits rather before she'd intended to; the daggers scrape down Lei Lei's side rather than dig in properly, though the wounds are not insignificant, and if she wasn't already dead she might have been pretty poorly off.

Fortunately (?) she /is/ dead, and so instead she's managed to pop out a long, narrow saw, like the kind you might cut down a tree with, and rake it across the descending Lotus; this spoils her aim even more than it already was from the mistimed landing.

She's going to have to stop Lotus pretty soon. She can't handle much more of this.

[LOTUS]
The saw skims across the side of one Lotus' left leg, taking off the top later of skin in a patch, though damage to the muscle beneath is minor. It clots quickly, but is still an open wound that hurts quite badly. Nonetheless, Lotus seems capable of still walking despite the amount of hurt it generates.

As Leilei can likely guess, she is VERY used to pain!

It's delicious!

She doesn't stand still longer than she needs to make sure the limb will still support her before she closes the small gap, sending a flurry of stabs and slashes with her daggers at Leilei as she says "So..... when are ya gonna try stoppin me?". Lotus DOES have a decent collection of injuries from this so far, and her words seem less due to brovado and being unharmed and more due to a sheer lack of regard for her own status!

Lei Lei's saw reaches past Lotus as Lotus gets in close, and Lei Lei takes advantage of this to roll something else out of her sleeve behind Lotus' back. It is not immediately clear what this is because it's mostly out of Lotus' sight. Another spiked ball? It's about that size... but she's trying very hard to keep it out of Lotus' view, casually.

The object, as it turns out, is a bomb. It has a face on it. It looks angry.

Having Lotus in close is not good. Lotus flurries, and Lei Lei holds her off, more or less, but she's being pushed to her limit. She has no real experience fighting someone as... determined, let's say, as Lotus is. All she can do are tricks and traps and stunts.

Like the one she's already done. "How about right now?" Lei Lei says, and then hops backwards, flattening herself against the ground. She covers her head with her giant claws.

Behind Lotus, the bomb Lei Lei dropped counts down to zero, the face on it looking kind of panicked for the split second before it detonates in a thunderous explosion!

BOOM! The bomb goes off, enveloping Lotus in the firey conflagration! Surely this is the end for the crazed stab-happy darkstalker?

NOPE! That would be too easy! A shadow slowly grows larger on the ground, as Lotus, having lept into the air and over the blast, descends upon the tricksy trappy Leilei! "LIIIIIER!" she calls with a cackle as she blurs, taking another series of swipes at Leilei, this time faster and with more serious intent, aiming to cause as many cuts or stabs as possible and make the poor gal bleeeeeeed!

Afterwords she stop and tries to take a hop back to admire her handiwork on Leilei as it currently is "If you bleed green, can i call you greensleeves and put you on a christmas card?". This is followed by crazed laughter at her own (not really that funny) joke.

still doesn't bleed, so Lotus is out of luck on that front. Dead people usually don't.

Unfortunately, not bleeding doesn't mean not hurting. The cuts hurt! And they're really starting to slow Lei Lei down; she's still moving around, but she's not as fast as she used to be, and the injuries are really starting to add up. "Do I look like a Christmas card?" she asks, not really expecting a sensible response.

Lei Lei crouches, then leaps into the air over Lotus - it's one of the first times she's done so. Somehow, improbably, she manages to kick off nothing at all and alter her angle of approach to almost horizontal; she passes over Lotus, reaching down to grab the other woman, spin once, and then slam her to the ground with Lei Lei falling on top!

Lotus watches Leilei leap, estimating her trajectory carefully. She's about to move to dodge when Leilei abruptly changes angle in mid-air, and with a quick leap to the side she narrowly evades the grab, the claws leaving furrows in her skin and tearing her clothes, but not inflicting any real damage or finding purchase!

Leaping up to meet Leilei, Lotus grabs at her enormous sleeve, and as she drops back to the ground, tries to pull, using gravity to slam the vampire into the ground!

Hit or miss, Lotus can't help but comment "No, but your adorable enough to be!

Lei Lei is indeed thrown down at the ground. Good work, Lotus!

Unfortunately, she catches herself with her hands, or at least her claws. Pressing hard against the forested ground, Lei Lei swings her lower body upward in an improbable movement, digging her claws into the ground so that she can kick upward like a jackhammer with surprising force. Her hat stays on somehow too, even though it's at an angle that it really should have just fallen off. Such is life.

"I can't decide if you're hitting on me or just hitting me!" Lei Lei seems slightly unnerved by this. "Can we maybe /not/ talk about this right now??"

Glancing Blow

Lotus quickly leans to the side in an attempt to dodge, but is juuuust a bit too slow! While the majority of the attack zips past, the edge of the outside of one of her feet partially connects with the side of Lotus' head, which snaps back with the impact, making her take a step back!

She seems to fumble around, almost as if shes going to fall over, as if her balance is juuuuuuust out of reach, when she abruptly stops and leans fowards, exhaling a large cloud of poisonous gas from her mouth towards Leilei!

She puts a hand to her mouth afterwords, grinning "Well excuuuuuuuuse me princess! That was very rude of me!". She giggles again, eyes unfocusing a bit as she regains her senses after the partial hit. It was enough to throw her inner ear off a bit, in reality.

Lei Lei pushes herself up, up, over - she lands on her feet, facing away from Lotus, and then turns to face her.

But she's on her last legs... or whatever. She's not breathing hard (actually, is she breathing at all?) but there's pain on her face, and the tattered condition of her outfit - and her limbs - is a testament to how much Lotus has managed to slash, cut, and stab her.

Still, it's not in Lei Lei's nature to give up. When Lotus exhales the cloud, Lei Lei flips a gong out of her sleeve and a mallet into her other hand. She slams the gong with the mallet, radiating a visible wave of force along with the booming sound.

The wave actually catches the cloud... somehow... and drags it along with it, making a horrible greenish shockwave aimed right at Lotus. "It was! But at least you said excuse me - still, I think everything you've done needs a little more than that to make it right!"

As Leilei replaces the gong wence it came, and looks back, Lotus is almost right in her face from the left! Seems the stab-happy loon rushed in the moment the gong came up, blocking line of sight, and stayed well to the side of the center of the gongs surface, suspecting it would do something like that. Attempting to grab Leilei, Lotus leans in and tries to bite the vampire on the neck, injecting a very potent toxin from her fangs should she succeed!

COMBATSYS: Lei Lei endures Lotus' Deadly Kiss EX!

You should not bite vampires. Vampires are what bite you. Except not Lei Lei, she's civilized and also the wrong kind of vampire.

Lei Lei is surprised by Lotus getting in so close. She yeeps as the gong is pulled back up into her sleeve, but she doesn't manage to pull away from Lotus. Actually, she doesn't try hard, because she sees in it an opportunity to disable the killer and stop her from killing any more - today, anyway.

While Lotus is occupied with hanging on, Lei Lei slams her claws' 'palms' against the forest floor. A gigantic spike of a sword extends upwards from the ground, and Lei Lei pushes Lotus forward, trying to get her hooked to it by the back of her shirt (and, ideally, disabled by the mystic weapon, but definitely pulled away from the hopping vampire).

Unfortunately for Lei Lei, Lotus' bite is rather more potent than she expected, and whether or not she's managed that, she staggers, falling to one knee. She can /feel/ the poison even if she doesn't have a heartbeat to move it around, and it burns.

It takes only a moment to inject the poison! As Lotus is pushed, she also lets go, and as the first sword comes up, she backflips away! The second comes up, and the third.... Lotus becomes a backflipping blur as she juuuuuust barely stays ahead of the sharp edges coming up from the ground in a line, putting lots of space between the two!

When at last she reaches the edge of the attacks range, or has reached about 30 or 40 feet away, Lotus leaps to the side, rolling to her feet and eyeing Leilei with that mad grin "You don't look so well. Feeling a bit.... sickly?". She slowly begins walking towards Leilei, enjoying the sight of her venomous attack rather cruelly.

[LEI LEI]
"Feeling fine," Lei Lei lies. "I'm not really interested in a talk, though..." How is /Lotus/? She thought she did better than that. She can stand, probably, if she really tries. She probably cannot fight - she personally wouldn't trust it.

But what she can do is drop another bomb. This one has a rather different face (it looks confused instead of angry) and she drops it about two feet in front of her, exactly where it would hurt her if it exploded. The fuse sizzles down surprisingly quickly, and then -

No explosion.

Instead, a huge gout of smoke erupts, and when it starts to fade (or if Lotus sticks her head in), Lei Lei is gone. There is a scrap of paper left behind - not the charm off her hat. This one has only one word on it.

'Bye!'

[LOTUS]
Continuing to walk casually, Lotus approaches the spot Leilei stood. She stands there looking at the sign. She giggles, which slowly grows into a laugh "Bravo! Hope to stab- SEE you again sometime! Maybe we can do lunch! HAAAAAHAHAHA!".

Laughing again at her (also not really that funny) joke, she leaps back into the trees, branch by branch and with much more pause. Leilei did a decent number on her, but the wounds are closing fast. Keeping her vigil, Lotus remains in the woods to wreck havoc on any intruders yet to enter!
