KOF 2017 - Act 3: Mission 20) Take a Number

[Toggle Names]

Description: Bypassing the Mad Gear security team, Guy has made his decision to eliminate the ambassador in his office outside the United Nations. Sadly, the ambassador is out. As Guy stumbles on the true intentions of the Illuminati and the United Nations, fortunately, Urien's secretary Kolin is standing by to take a message. Having made a counter-proposal before in the past successfully, Kolin is given yet another opportunity to woo another potential ally to her boss's side. And if he refuses? Well, there are plenty of plots of land to bury fools around Metro City.

[GUY]
The Shadow of Bushin makes his way through stalking through the halls of the building. He's not sure if Abigail had taken his advice in warning the other Mad Gears to stay out of his way when he came, but he wasn't obstructed by any of their ilk. Maybe the giant came through for him. Maybe it was simple luck. Regardless, Guy now stalks the halls of the office building, a crimson shade, flitting from shadow to shadow on silent, sneaker clad feet.

The building seems mostly empty, allowing the Bushin warrior to easily glide through the hall, unobstructed, and easily able to evade any guards that may come by on patrol. At great length, he arrives at the ambassador's office, bypassing the door and coming in through the dropdown ceiling of the office. Landing nimbly on his feet, he's disappointed when the office is... empty. His target not present, the Sneakered Sneak uses the opportunity to gather evidence instead, rummaging through files and paperwork in search of the true intentions of the United Nations in their assault on Japan.

[KOLIN]
Of course the office is empty. The Illuminati protects its puppets... when they're still of use. And the Ambassador still has some use. However much so is left after all this happens, well... that's out of his control anyway. For now, the man is kept grateful and happy in a hidden safehouse. Guy is an expert ninja--a master of the arts of a clan few enough have even -heard- of, let alone encountered. It is popularly thought, amongst those in a position to know, that he is in fact the only such master. A very Sith sort of thing, in some ways.

Kolin knows this because the Illuminati knows this. Because information control--collection, storage, dissemination, collation--is their watchword. Because the roots of the Illuminati are so deep that there are few enough secrets that can be kept from them.

And so it is that the ambassdor was pulled before Guy could make his move. And so it is that, while Guy is in the middle of ransacking the ambassador's large office--very nicely appointed, spacious, not at all like the kinds of offices people tend to have in Metro City--the double doors open with a click of the lock, the well-oiled hinges whispering as the panels swing wide, revealing a woman.

A Russian woman, from all appearances, blonde-haired, blue-eyed, wearing the pillbox fur-lined cap in black, a heavy, fur-lined winter jacket, also in black, that reaches down not quite to mid-thigh, and black stockings and boots. There are few splashes of color--a red and blue symbol, on the hat and on the shoulders of her jacket, gold on the double-rowed buttons fastening the garment closed.

"I'm afraid to inform you that you are intruding upon things best left untouched, Master of the Bushin-Ryuu Clan," she says, in her rich voice. Her stance is ready but untensed, a coy smile playing across her lips.

[GUY]
Of course, Guy is not so surprised when he hears the click of the door handle, or the soft, barely noticeable squeak of metal on metal as the hinges swing. If the ambassador is gone, then that would indicate that somehow, the Illuminati had deduced the plan to strike at him, and had secreted him away somewhere. Do they not know that this is Metro City? This city belongs to him. There is no hiding from the eyes of Bushin.

"I apologize for my intrusion," Guy says, his voice rumbling and deep. So much time has been spent here in America that his Japanese accent only plays a slight lilt on his words, giving them an almost lyrical quality. "I am only seeking out the ambassador. If you tell me where he is, I will let you walk out of here on your own two legs."

He had been standing with his back to her. He's an imposing figure. Even if he is not particularly tall, he just seems to exude a presence that fills any given space he occupies. Tonight is no exception. Something in the way he holds himself. His shoulders seem broader than the double doors she entered through. His muscles seem to be chiseled from stone and wound with cord of steel under his flesh. When he looks over his shoulder at her, his eyes are narrow and sharp, like the eyes of a predator. Their gaze is intense and smoldering, and his brooding brows only serve to enhance this effect.

He turns around, slowly to face her. In one hand, he holds a manilla folder, which he now tucks in to his scarlet gi top. His footfalls are intentionally heavy as he stalks towards the Russian woman, his chin dipped, his spikey bangs half obscuring a face that would be almost boyishly handsome, were it not for the severe and grave expression that seems to define it. "The United Nations have been subverted by evil. Bushin-Ryuu destroys evil."

[KOLIN]
Kolin is, perhaps, much less imposing. But that's an air she cultivates; she doesn't want to look imposing all the time. It serves her purpose to be able to look disarming, even when she's dressed for a fight. Still... she can't hide that aspect of her completely. Guy will be able to tell at a glance--she's not a pushover. "I'm afraid I can't do that," she replies, "He still has some use for us. Killing him now would be.. inconvenient."

She lets pass the 'I'll let you leave' part. Engaging in that banter is useless. Words don't determine the winner of a fight. She had intended, perhaps, to try and win him over to the side of the Illuminati--but she can see already that that is a futile thing. The strength of the Master of the Bushin-Ryuu... he can't possibly know how deep he'll have to go to face the Illuminati. What kind of hell he'll have to descend through. Bold words will not be his savior--only skill.

"Yes... evil, is it? You destroy evil?" Something in her eyes tightens, _almost_ imperceptibly.

"You have failed in that mission," she says, her visage calming.

"And I cannot let you simply leave here," she adds, as if there were any chance of that. Even if the ambassador isn't here, he did have access to certain things--certain files--and leaving it to chance that Guy would not take the files or not understand them... that isn't happening.

[GUY]
When Kolin starts to talk to him about evil, Guy's lips curl up almost imperceptibly at one corner. Despite being cast in the shadows of his auburn bangs, his eyes seem to hold the light and refract it in a gleam that is reminescent of the glint of the sun on the edge of a blade. Has he failed in his mission? Perhaps. Perhaps his indecision about things at the start had caused him to fail. He is a champion for justice. The UN is supposed to represent that. So, he had thought to trust in them. This, of course, led to a rain of hellfire on Mt. Fuji, and another unspeakable tragedy to befall his homeland.

"Perhaps," he says, grimly. "I waited to long. Perhaps I have failed in that mission. Allow me now the chance to rectify that mistake!"

He draws one hand upward in a slow, sweeping motion, his fist clenched, until it nears his chin, where his fore and middle digits extend upward along the center of his face. His other fist tucks in near his hip, and he shifts on his feet, taking a stance that looks loose and unorthodox. His feet at a fourty-five degree angle, his leading leg bent slightly at the knee. He sweeps his hand down in a blurred motion, before letting his hands fall into a loose, relaxed, and yet defensive posture, one hovering near his face, and the other slightly extended before him.

"I gave you a chance to walk away from this. Don't say that I didn't warn you."

[KOLIN]
Kolin is, of course, speaking about something else. Something, really, that Guy would have had no power over. Something that changed her life and set it on this course, irrevocably. Destroy evil. There is only one way to 'destroy evil', and though Guy can't possibly understand it, that is why Kolin is where she is today, with who she is with. It is her reason for being.

"Your warnings... are unneeded," she informs him. So -arrogant-. All these 'heroes', projecting this confidence, this... this sense that they should be _feared_. Kolin doesn't fear. She's beyond that now.

He will never understand why Kolin holds that warning in such disdain. And he'll never have to. Her stance becomes... ready. Right leg back, body shifted to turn left-side on towards him, gloved fingers rippling in anticipation, hands up and open. A chance to walk away? Kolin gave Guy no such chance because she knew there were only two ways for him to walk away, and one was discarded immediately.

Guy might be the ninja, might be the expert in speed, but Kolin is no slouch either; she goes from standing to moving in the blink of an eye, transitioning smoothly and effortlessly as she closes in on Guy. Those gloved hands reach out, with a grip that Guy might find surprisingly strong, and if she grabs him by the shoulders she'll thrust her right knee up into his sternum and use that momentum to hurl him over her shoulder and into the expensive flooring.

COMBATSYS: Kolin successfully hits Guy with Sublimation.

[GUY]
As Kolin rushes in, Guy is, perhaps, a bit taken with the speed with which she moves. His own movements are fast and graceful, much like a stalking panther, but even he is unable to escape her clutch in time as he tries to leap back away from her. Her outstretched hand finds purchase on his gi top. He feels himself pulled in as the knee collides with his chest, though he's trained well to prevent the air from being forced from his lungs. He is pulled over, slammed into the floor, his arms extending out to his sides to disperse the impact as much as he can. He doesn't even hesitate, before he's rolling back and away from her, and sliding onto his feet.

His eyes narrow, and he lurches forward, as if he were going to sprint, but at the last moment, his body tucks in low, and he spins on the balls of his feet. As he comes out of the rotation, he surges forward, using the full might of his entire body pistoning forward to thrust his shoulder into her trunk, following through with an elbow enhanced by using his opposing arm to lend it more force.

COMBATSYS: Kolin blocks Guy's Hozanto.

[KOLIN]
Yes. Good. The Illuminati has records of Guy's techniques, of course, culled from public appearances and not so public appearances, but raw physical data will be very useful as well. Systema is a practical art, born for the realities of combat; Kolin is prepared, and catches that incoming elbow in her gloved palms. The impact is still enough to force her back a quarter-step, but it leaves no lasting impression. He'll have to do better than that to dissuade her. And up close--this in-close fighting style--that's where Systema -excels-.

Suddenly, Kolin's cryokinetic talents are shown, icy energy surrounding her hands as she thrusts them out in a widening pattern, jabbing stiffened fingers for Guy's torso, a rapid pattern meant to prevent easy avoidance--to set up for the finale, a double-spearhand thrust to the chest.

COMBATSYS: Kolin successfully hits Guy with Parabellum.

[GUY]
Kolin is full of surprises. Guy doesn't have the advantage of having info on her or her abilities. She clearly has. Which means that he's going to have to step up. He can't let her throw him off of his groove now. There really is too much at stake right now. He tries to play defensive, his hands swatting away her own, attempting to deflect and block, but ultimately, he wasn't prepared for that final icy thrust.

Guy is knocked back, landing on the floor and rubbing his chest, even as he rolls back away from her to increase the distance and nimbly rises onto his feet. He doesn't even take a second to catch a breather, before he's rushing back in again. His stance is aggressive, his feet practically pounding the expensive hardwood floor underfoot. At the last moment, he hops, twisting deftly through the air and sweeping around with a thundering aerial axe kick leveled at the top of that cute little hat she's wearing.

COMBATSYS: Kolin fails to counter Kubikari EX from Guy with Frost Reverse EX.

[KOLIN]
Kolin's intent is to catch that flying kick. To use it as a lever, to throw Guy into the flooring again. But despite his relative size, Guy... Guy has power. That kick crushes her attempt to catch him--and it catches her right in the juncture of shoulder and neck. She drops--and rolls backwards, just as Guy did. Painful... she definitely felt that, as she expected. The stories were not for nothing. But just as Guy, Kolin isn't so easily felled.

She inclines her head to him, acknowledging the strike--and resumes her stance. She's still, essentially, between him and the door. Even were he to dart around her... well, she would not let him just get past. He won't leave without defeating her. That much is plainly obvious.

[GUY]
Guy isn't going to let up on her, either. He's done with allowing her to control the tempo of the battle. From the look in his eyes, it's clear that Guy has no intention of leaving now that he's set into his groove. He's focused on her, and not escape. He's focused on destroying the evil that has caused so much ruin in Japan, and right now, the image of that evil is Kolin herself.

As she's reclaiming her stance, Guy leaps, though his trajectory is low arcing and swift, as he rolls at her like a cannonball. At the very last moment, his trunklike arms lash out with the speed and ferocity of a striking cobra, attempting to wrap her up in his arms from behind and use his flipping momentum to bring her up, head over heels, and then back down into a powerful suplex on the floor below.

COMBATSYS: Kolin blocks Guy's Bushin Izuna Drop.

Kolin            1/----===/=======|>>>>>>>\-------\0              Guy

[KOLIN]
An excellent plan. However... Kolin is ready. She doesn't resist when he perofrms that rolling leap and gets close, doesn't struggle as he leaps into the air to bring her down with that suplex. Instead, all her concentration is focused on the moment of impact. On mitigating it, subtly, twisting her body at the last moment, using a counter-force to rob the impact of its momentum, taking the hit not on her head but on the widest part of her shoulders, rolling it out. Guy considers himself an in-close fighter as well--interesting.

Kolin takes advantage of the close proximity--this is her range, too, as Guy ought to know--and throws a quick combination of punches. Really, it's little more than a one-two, but delivered with her right hand alone, as she leaves her left in place for defense--right jab, short right hook, a variation on a classic boxing combination. Systema, after all, pulls all its parts from other bodies of techniques to form a complete, coherent whole.

COMBATSYS: Guy dodges Kolin's Medium Punch.

[GUY]
Guy would be rather pleased with himself, as he slams the Russian girl into the ground. But, he sees her roll out of it, letting her body crumple and go with the force, rather than resist it and take the brunt of the impact. Clever girl. As she comes back up, rocking out with that one two combo, Guy is swift. The jab is dodge by simply shifting his head to the inside of it, letting her fist sweep past his ear. As that hook follows, his back arches, ducking his face just outside of the reach of her knuckle.

He uses this backwards momentum to his advantage, as well. Even as he ducking out of the way of her right hook in a manner that Steve Fox would appreciate, he's bringing one crimson sneaker up with the intention of kicking her in the gut with the flat of his sole, and using that to push off into a backflip that culminates with his other foot swiping upwards to try to catch her under the chin.

COMBATSYS: Kolin dodges Guy's Kamaitachi.

[         \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\  < >  ///////////////////           ]
Kolin            1/----===/=======|>>>>>>>\-------\1              Guy

[KOLIN]
Of course. Guy's style relies on speed; one could say, arguably, that he is a master of it. To be able to detect, and avoid, those punches is only natural. To be able to turn that evasion into a nearly simultaneous attack is a mark of skill. Kolin is impressed with Guy's agility, his ability to flow. His attempt to win back the momentum of the fight, to take the pace-maker away from Kolin. In truth, that ability to set the pace is between them, now, and Guy's flipkick is an attempt to take it.

Kolin, however, is disinclined to get kicked under her chin. Just as Guy swayed away from her punches, so she sways away from the flip kick, performing an extreme lean to let the feet pass her by. And then...

And then she disengages. Or at least, she appears to, performing a twirling backstep, one that covers far more distance than it looks like it should, from the motion. Just as quickly, though, she's converting that momentum, planting her feet to transfer it--and lunging forward, cocking her right hand back, icy energy forming visibly around it, like a dagger that she plunges straight for Guy's chest.

COMBATSYS: Guy dodges Kolin's Silver Edge.

[         \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\  < >  ///////////////////           ]
Kolin            1/-----==/=======|>>>>>>>\-------\1              Guy

[GUY]
It is truly a battle now of dominating the flow of combat. She's swift and cunning, and she is keeping Guy on his toes, to be certain. Even if he's in his groove, he can't slack off and expect to just maintain the flow. He has to struggle to keep control of the tempo. And so, with that in mind, as Guy deftly lands his aerial backflip, and sees Kolin backpedaling, he knows she's not disengaging. Besides, even if he were baited to believe such a thing, he wouldn't allow it. At this point, she is a target. Aku Soku Zan!

When she lunges, his eyes catch site of the almost luminous white mist as her ice dagger starts to form. Deadly. Again, the nimble fighter avoids the blow, this time by twisting his wonderously sculpted upper body to the side and dancing back a few steps. It looks like maybe Guy has drawn inspiration for his personalized Bushin from other styles as well. Adaptability, after all, is something that Bushin stresses.

Before she can regain her footing, after that lunge, Guy is moving in on her flank. His hope is to punish her for overdedicating herself to the potentially killing blow. He'll start off with his golden gauntlet swiping in a powerful backfist aimed at the side of her head, but in a blur of motion, follow through with a straight punch to her side, at her kidney. That, too, will be followed up by a uppercut palm strike, which should, if all goes well, throw her off balance enough to be caught by the spinning crescent kick that finishes off his combo.

COMBATSYS: Kolin counters Bushin Gokusaken from Guy with Frost Touch EX.

Kolin            0/-------/----===|=======\====---\1              Guy

[KOLIN]
There's a trick to the technique, one that Kolin didn't master for several months, almost a year, as she developed the technique, a variation on a standard knife thrust used in Systema. And the trick was -not- overextending into the attack, not committing all one's resources to it. The first time she tried--the first dozen times, the first several dozen times--she would overcommit. Even if she hit cleanly, she was always at a disadvantage. It took a long time for her to figure out how to overcome that--how to retain her balance.

So it is that when Guy thinks she's at her most vulnerable--she isn't. She stops her momentum and swivels. There's a brief, cold look in her eyes, as befits the ice queen, and that backfist is caught in an ice-cold hand. That would hurt enough, to be sure; her grip is like iron, far stronger than she looks, and she holds that limb in place long enough to expose Guy's body. Her other hand lashes out, a knifehand cutting across his chest, icy power infused into her hand, suffusing his body with that biting chill, and then she spins behind him, completing the technique by using that arm one last time--as a fulcrum, to slam him to the floor.

Still, she doesn't taunt. This is deadly serious--she will face it with as much dignity as it deserves.

[GUY]
He had miscalculated. As he lays on the ground, he plays it out in his mind's eye. It's something for him to remember. Something for him to use. His body aches. The wire mesh of his under armor is freezing, biting into his skin. He trembles, and he feels the burning in his lungs and in his muscles from overexertion. But, he can't give up. Not until it's over. And this isn't over just yet.

He kips back up to his feet, though rather than standing up, he immediately makes a diving jump, homerun sliding across the wooden floor in an attempt to bring her legs out from under her and send her toppling over.

COMBATSYS: Guy successfully hits Kolin with Fierce Kick.

[KOLIN]
Miscalculations... they happen, and happen. Kolin thought, perhaps, that Guy would be done. She underestimated his drive. His will to continue. And she pays for it. That low slide--it catches her right at the ankle. She flips picturesquely, then lands hard, on her shoulder. Not broken--but painful. Underneath all those layers, she'll be sporting a bruise for sure. Still. Still... there's a job to do. And she must admit... she's enjoying this. Testing herself against this man. She abhors the kind of violence that destroyed her country. But no longer is she the helpless. Now she is in the position to do something about that kind of violence.

And if eggs have to be broken... she'll smash the whole coop to get the results she so desperately wants. It isn't logical, but war rarely is. "Well," she says, finally speaking up. Neither are too much for mid-fight banter, it seems. Probably for the best.

"It seems we should be coming to an end..." The question is... how? Gesturing with a hand, she forms a chunk of ice in midair. It hovers, just for a moment, and then she snaps her hand closed, making the ice disappear. And then, that twirling backstep again. Guy's seen it before, backtwirl, then forward lunge--flying across the floor as if she were a speed skater.

Only this time, she lunges and lashes out low, cutting across for Guy's knees with a right horizontal ridgehand, smoothly transitioning into a rising backfist with the same hand, and then into a short series of icy stabs, a quick one-two-three and final spearhand thrust.

COMBATSYS: Kolin successfully hits Guy with Snow Grain.

[GUY]
After that rushing sweep, Guy stands on his feet again. He's winded, and it shows. His shoulders are slouched, his posture less straight and rigid. His chest heaves with the gasping breaths he sucks in through his open mouth. Sweat and blood run down his brow, but that look in his eyes? That look is as fierce as it was the moment she stepped into the office.

"Yes," Guy agrees, as she states the inevitable. He nods his head, clutching at his side with one hand. "It's time to end this."

As Kolin twirls back away from him, Guy reads the move as best he can. Still, he's slow. He's sluggish. He can barely mount any kind of defense against the assault as it comes. Her attack bites deep at his knees, causing him to cry out in pain. He catches the backfist with his face, and is set up for the blitz, culminating in him bent practically doubled over her impaling thrust attack. He chokes, and a mouthful of blood escapes his lips from somewhere inside. He slumps down and falls to the floor.

But still, he pushes on.

The world is blurry, fading in and out of focus, and feeling like its axis is now on a seesaw, tipping from side to side. The roar of his racing heart fills his ears with a roar like violent ocean waves in a storm. IT barely covers the ringing. The blood in his mouth is coppery and acidic, and the fire in his lungs only serves to actually comfort him when he inhales and feels cracked ribs trying to stretch. But he rises to his feet.

"Your strength is to be commended," he says, as he faces her once more. Slowly, he lifts his hands back up into place, taking on his stance. One side of his mouth twists upwards into a lopsided grin. His already keen eyes narrow further, into glistening slivers of pure intensity. "However, you do not fully appreciate the depth of the evil inherent in your deeds."

He draws one fist back, chambering it at his hip, while his other hand forms his trademark "ninja" gesture with his first two fingers. A burst of speed and Guy is suddenly on her, attempting to grab her by her coat with one hand, and sending his other fist into her stomach. Immediately, his body pivots on the ball of one sneaker, a graceful pirouette that makes every bone in his body ache. His foot lashes out in a spinning crescent kick, hoping to send her flying, not just across the room, but through the wall to the city outside.

Even his initial assault is successful, the Bushin Master will seem to flicker out of existence, reappearing behind the hurtling woman and greeting her with another kick to send her in the other direction. Again and again, a sweep, and a powerful axe kick that will send her back towards the building itself, though his swiftness is too great, and yet again, he'll intercept her.

A thrusting side kick collides against her back, ending that movement, and he begins and assault of punches, before he draws both hands down to the side, almost as if he were about to unleash the fabled Hadouken of Ansatsuken. Instead, he seems to become a crimson blur, passing through her with a series of attacks so swift that the human eye cannot follow them properly.

He hopes it will be enough. Please. Let it be enough.

[KOLIN]
The ultimate technique. An attack of such power that it could kill her. Kolin must be ready. She needs to have that... that clarity of life. The kind that comes in those moments when one's life is truly on the line, as it is, here. She believes, truly, that Guy will kill her if he has the chance. She is Illuminati--that was not hidden from the outset. He knows about them, at least enough to have declared them his enemy. And he is an implacable foe. The secretary-slash-operative has but a moment to prepare.

And that moment... is enough. To anyone watching--to the cameras recording the fight for the Illuminati, not because it's Kolin and Guy, but because the Illuminati just collects data--it will look as though Kolin is being suspended in mid-air by a balletic, graceful, destructive volley, by a man moving so fast he can almost not be seen.

But to Guy, he will know. He will understand that despite the appearance of things--he's not striking unprotected flesh, cracking bone, traumatizing internal organs. Kolin keeps her calm, keeps her focus... and in doing so, keeps her life. Every blow is met with steel defense, even that final kick that sends her back to the floor in a plume of dust--dust that, when it swirls away, reveals her crouching.

Which is not to say that damage wasn't done. Kicks like those, they aren't so easily brushed off. That is evident when she rises--her stance isn't anywhere close to perfect. That injured shoulder from earlier, she's favoring it, tilting towards it. She'll need some time after this.

But for now. For now she needs to take the man down... So she forces her battered body forward, once again, lunging forward with a spearhand thrust aimed for Guy's throat. She won't collapse it completely--she isn't interested in killing him. He could prove useful later... and in any case, those weren't her orders.

COMBATSYS: Guy blocks Kolin's Aggressive Strike.

[GUY]
As she stands back up, Guy rolls his shoulders, bolstering himself for what's to come. He takes on a defensive stance, readying himself for her assault when it comes, though still too taxed to mount an immediate follow up on his technique. His last ditch effort was in vain, but he wasn't going to go down without a fight.

She comes at him, with a spearhand attack. It's become almost predictable at this point. His arms come up before him in an X to block the attack, but it's sheer power and his own exhaustion have taken it's toll. When her thrust collides with his block, his broken and battered body still feels that force driving his own arms into his chest.

Knocked back, and skidding on his feet, Guy feels his consciousness slipping from him. One. He has to be swift. He has one last chance to take her down with him. He has to.

Guy throws his all behind his fists, coming in again with a combo, using more of his brute force than technique and speed. A punch aimed at her face. Another to her stomach. An uppercut, and then he tries to grab her and, using the leverage of his body, and his hip, throw her over his shoulder to slam her to the ground. Where he's headed next.

Guy won't quit. So Kolin... she has to take him down. All the way to the end, until he can't move. She knows--he's hurt. Not just battered, she's done some real damage to him. It's the nature of fighting, of her fighting style, of the conflict. But she is not a woman of pity and kindness to those who cross her. Like an ice storm, she is relentless, unending. "Enough," she says, as that first punch comes in. Were he not already weakened--were this battle not as protracted as it were--she couldn't do this with the apparent ease that she does.

She catches that punch, and redirects the energy. The momentum. She spins around, carrying Guy with her in that moment, almost graceful--and then she flings him into the desk of the ambassador he came to kill. The solid oak desk, one given to high-ranking U.N. officials. Sturdy, meant to last a lifetime. It may crack, it may reveal flaws in the perfect-looking wood.

But the desk is just a symbol--and in this case, a tool. A tool Kolin intends to use to complete the assignment given to her.

[GUY]
Guy is flung back against that wooden desk, slamming into it forcefully enough that it cracks and groans under the force, sliding back across the floor. His back arches over it, and his body slumps against it. His head rolls back, and it looks like he's buckling. Collapsing. Unconscious finally settling in and letting him take a breather, where his fighting spirit won't.

But his fighting spirit is too great. He groans, and lifts his head, looking at her with those furious eyes, despite the fact that he can't focus on her. The room is spinning and his body is taxed to it's max. He's running on nothing but pure grit and willpower. "I don't...."

He pushes himself up to a standing position once again, his body unstable and swaying on his feet. He brings his hands up, again, in his ready stance. "go down... so easily."

He lurches forward, a few unsteady steps, but then he picks it up and comes running at her full tilt. She might think he's coming with another of his sliding kicks. Or maybe with his powerfully crushing flying axe kick. But, instead he stops just in front of her.

He ducks, his body twisting as if he were a coiled spring.

"Bushin..."

He uncoils, his legs pushing him from the ground in a corkscrew, as he lashes out with a whirlwind kick, desperate to sweep her up in it. "Senpukyaku!"

"I said--ENOUGH." She'll stop that kick before it even starts, almost, even as she's amazed that Guy stood up from that. She'll grab that leg and she'll trap it, for a brief moment, pushing it high--Guy can, of course, kick high, as the saying goes; as a ninja he has almost undreamed of flexibility. But it gives her the opportunity to pass underneath the spin, and to use that momentum to throw herself into her own spinning attack, another slashing knifehand across Guy's back.

Maybe -this- will be enough to knock him down. He's proven... to be far more than a 'handful'--he's pushed her to her limits. If he rises again, she's not sure she'll have anything left to continue to fight him. Retreat might have to be the option... but that carries with it as much danger as staying. Perhaps more. Guy might show mercy--Urien will not.

[GUY]
His whirlwind kick interrupted, Guy is left defenseless and he's punshed for it. The knife hand cracks across his back, sending him crashing forward into the wall. He slumps against it for a moment, keeping the darkness at bay by butting his head against its surface, knocking the fog away, if only for a moment.

"It will be enough when you go down," Guy says, as he turns around, leaning against the wall and sighing heavily. Still, he cracks open his eyes, and settles his soul crushing stare on her once again. A huff that might have served as a chuckle escapes his bloodied lips, and he just lifts his hands again.

He pushes himself off of the wall, and then quickly spins, running up the wall itself and using it to launch himself at her through the air, coming at her almost like a nosedive, only to lash out with one bony, clenched fist.

COMBATSYS: Guy has reached third wind!

Stubborn. This is... getting tiresome. And worrisome. She's got the better end of things despite it all, but that can't hold forever. Some of that emotion is starting to show through. Actual emotion leaking into her gaze, the corners of her eyes. Damnable 'heroes'. Thinking they're 'saving the world'. Holding the status quo. Doing nothing of consequence. Standing by for grand gestures, disappearing when the real work needs to be done. The hard work. The dirty work.

Just massaging their egos... Kolin spins away from the ornate ninja punch, letting Guy have his acrobatic moment. She steps, she spins, and as she goes she just... well, she just attempts to kick him in the face. A steel-toed combat boot to the forehead. It's graceful--almost dance-like in its casual nature, as if she weren't really trying to hit him.

If her goal wasn't to hit him, she was doing a good job of it. He's down. He's out. He's pulling through by nothing but pure willpower and anger. But he's not a complete pushover, either. He ducks out of the way of that lackadaisical kick.

"Just... go down!"

Hist fist balls up, and even though he feels the bones are dislodged from repeated abuse for this prolonged match, he forces everything he has into his rising punch, in the desperate hope that simply uppercutting her will finally just take her down.

Slowly, the balance tilts. But it hasn't tilted all the way to neutral... not yet. Nor has it tipped towards Kolin entirely yet, either. Guy's resilience--almost unnatural--strains her ability to continue on. She is tough, solid, resilent--no one who grows up in her circumstances, in a tiny village in a land-locked, winter-frozen country, has the luxury of being soft--but Guy seems able to surpass his limits in a way that Kolin cannot.

But he's still tired, and tiring, and injured, and these factors come together. The uppercut is met with a gloved hand, and Kolin's eyes--they flash. In her other hand--just above it, actually, as she holds it out--forms a jagged semi-sphere of ice--a chunk of power turned into freezing cold. And it's this that she attempts to hurl into Guy's chest, even as she pushes the uppercut back, separating from him by a couple of steps as she does so.

Just go down? Take your own advice, 'hero'.

Guy is tired. His body is broken. He's fairly certain that some bones literally are. His fists feel like they're filled with lead. His lungs burn, and he almost feels like vomiting. He's tired? No. He's exhausted. But he endures. He endures because he has to. Even if he can't muster his speed and technique, and is going to an all or nothing brute strength, beat down approach, he isn't going to just give up the ghost. Not for the likes of her.

And so, his clumsy uppercut is slapped away. He does see the ice forming. He's trained himself now to be wary of that. And so, while she pushes aside his fist, he follows that momentum, carrying him out of the way of it, and letting him skipstep a few feet away. Coupled with her own distance gaining measures, this puts them far enough from each other that Guy will muster what he can to leap at her. He doesn't even tumble with his normal acrobatic style. He simply leaps, flying at her like an arcing missile to come descending on her with a fierce elbow aimed for the top of her skull.

Kolin's mouth is set. This is no longer amusing, or informative. She has plenty of data for the records... and now things are becoming far too close for comfort. She does not need to be here, whiling away the time with this fight. Were she not under orders, she'd probably just leave. But her loyalty to the Illuminati, to the utopia promised by Gill... that will have to hold her in good stead.

When Guy launches himself, she ducks, she shifts, she half-turns. She isn't where he he wants her to be when that elbow would make contact with her head. But she isn't far, not at all--certainly not. She's still close, close enough to grab for Guy's arm as he's landing--and attempt to kick his feet out from underneath him just as he touches down.

Kick his feet out from underneath him--and attempt to slam his face into the flooring. Vicious, direct... and perhaps not entirely dispassionate. She can't let him past. He'll cause trouble for Urien, and while she does not have any love for him, right now, he represents the Illuminati. Lord Gill wants him protected...

Guy's legs are swept out from underneath him, and he'd be slammed down face first, but he brings his arms down so that he takes the brunt of the impact on his forearms, rather than his already bruised and battered face and torso. He growls, and spits out another mouth full of blood onto the floor. They're both getting to the end of their line. He just has to keep holding out.

He doesn't have the energy to muster up any wonderful and brilliant attack. All he can do is work with what he's got, and right now, he's got a clear shot at tripping her up. He makes as if he's going to push himself up from the ground, but at the last moment, he collapses and instead spins around, in a breakdance like maneuver, both legs of his sweeping around as he braces himself on his hands, in an attempt to tangle up her legs and bring her down to his level.

This man. It's too bad that he'll likely never see the truth in the Illuminati's plans. The brilliance--the HOPE. He would be such an excellent soldier for the cause. Kolin -does- come down to his level, but not the way the Bushin-Ryuu master might want; she crouches low, shielding herself from that breakdancing kick with arm and leg, feeling the impact against her--and snapping her left hand out.

It's a whipcrack jab, thrown off-balance and with her off-hand, but it does manage to land solidly, right on her target--the middle of his forehead. Maybe not the best place for it, since he's proven to be extremely hard-headed, but Kolin doesn't have the wherewithal to aim more precisely. She is probably pretty lucky that it hit at all, much less cleanly.

[GUY]
The whipping fist finds purchase on Guy's forehead, knocking his head so that it bounces on his shoulders like a speed bag. His vision blurs and his ears ring. The darkness settles in around the edges of his field of vision. But, he bites down on his tongue. The fury fuels him. It keeps him going. He releases some sound that might have been a roar, if it weren't so hoarse from his sheer exhaustion and breathlessness.

With surprising ferocity, Guy launches himself into another last ditch effort. He leap up, rising with a fist. Another. Yet another. A flurry of them, aimed to blitz her and draw her up with him into the air, where he knows he has clear superiority. An aerial roundhouse kick, followed by another followed by a back flipping kick and if all of that succeeds? A finishing spinning heel kick with enough of his pure willpower and rage driven strength to send her flying across the room and into the wall.

Kolin almost can't believe it. What does it take to -put this man down-?? She'd consider calling in Illuminati troops--just shoot the bastard--but she isn't confident that he wouldn't be able to take them out without getting shot, and wasting Illuminati resources is something only the higher-ups, like Urien, are able to do with impunity. That burst of energy slams into Kolin in the form of a storm of fists, but she remains grounded, having to defend against the heavy blows before she can disengage. A close thing--her guard was almost blown open by the last one.

Her arms ache with pure fatigue and the dull pain of contusions and edema. She'll need some special, Illuminati-only treatments to be ready to fight at Urien's side again... if she makes it there. Nothing is certain, except for the strength of Gill's will, his intent.

With the last blow, she rolls backwards, going into a controlled tumble--and mid-tumble she kicks outwards with her right foot. A jagged icicle forms as if she were stepping on it, and with just a little more effort, she sends it hissing towards the man. But she's running out. Running out of time, running out of energy. What was a fight has become a test of endurance. She must summon up the toughness she gained from a life in the harsh winters of her youth.

COMBATSYS: Kolin successfully hits Guy with Icicle Stamp.

As soon as he sees her tumbling, he knows that she managed to avoid taking the full force of his attack. God dammit. How much longer can he push his body to go on? At this point, he's not even fighting to escape. He knows he won't. He's just a cornered animal determined to take her down with him.

"You don't have the spirit to defeat Bushinryu!"

The icy attack rushes forward, and Guy's simply to taxed to manage to evade it, despite his valiant attempt to do so. So instead, he just somes back into the fray. He bumrushes her, pushing off the fatigue and the pounding in his head, urging him to just fall and let the darkness of unconsciousness take over. But he persists. Running at a full tilt, he leaps forward again, descending at her with an elbow drop towards her skull, and at the moment of impact, vanishing in a puff of smoke only to reappear behind her and bring her up, head over heels, into a crushing suplex.

COMBATSYS: Guy can no longer fight.

He still has ninja tricks, even at death's door... so to speak. Just barely does Kolin manage to block the elbow--but she's too fatigued, to tired, to deal with him disappearing. His arms wrap around her torso, and she goes up and over. The crash is thunderous, and it seems, for a moment, as though Guy has indeed won out... in a sense.

And then, after a long moment, Kolin stirs, pushing up to a sitting position, shaking her head. "Chert," she mutters, as Illuminati forces swarm into the office... now that it's all over. Two of them go to help Kolin up; she holds up a hand. "Burn all the evidence," she orders, her voice thick with fatigue. "Leave nothing for him to find..." She pauses. "No, leave him this."

She pulls out a small photo of Urien.

"And leave him there. We need not kill him now." And with that, Kolin begins to move towards the doors. The crew will be quick, efficient, and thorough, leaving Guy nothing but a picture of Urien's smiling(? probably not) mug to contemplate.

COMBATSYS: Kolin has ended the fight here.
