Match of the Millennium

Description: With the protests worsening, Yuri has been labeled a pariah across the schools, held as a symbol of the corruption that runs deep within the institution. Her father, concerned for her safety, has demanded her daughter stay home at the Kyokugen Dojo, where he can keep a watchful eye on her. Naturally, while Yuri is mostly a good girl, so is Sean, who has returned from the King Of Fighters tournament to a school at war with itself. He has to reach Yuri to understand the chaos that is unfolding at his school. But will Yuri see a potential friend? Or will she see just another enraged student ready to attack her?

[SEAN]
The sound of a basketball leads the way as the King of Fighters tournament competitor, Sean Matsuda, makes his way towards the Kyokugen Dojo. He's been back for a long enough while to realize that things are so crazily different than when he flew out to kick some butt with his KoF Team. And by different we definitely mean something more serious to the point of his school building being completely insane and overrun with psychotic students and even worse drinking fountains.

Things are just not right.

So! Sean has taken it upon himself to try and get some answers. It's not like he's going to be able to actually get any homework done or anything considering the complete madness that's going on at the school. He picks up the pace with his dribbling, spinning around invisible defenders and crosses over another invisible basketball warrior. His backpack bounces on his back as he pulls up short at the entrance and spins the ball on his finger.

"Hey! Somebody better get out here and answer some questions!" He doesn't look as angry as he looks concerned and the basketball gets dribbled against the wall of the dojo for a moment as a 'knock'. "I ain't leavin' 'til I get some either! I got alllll day!"

[YURI]
How bitterly ironic. Yuri, one of the people fighting to reveal the corruption of what's going on in the schools, has now been labelled as an outcast and is being accused of being part of the whole corruption thing. When she leaves the dojo, she must make sure to avoid protest sites and possible protesters who aren't protesting, since if they see her, there's going to be trouble.

In another ironic twist, though, it's usually the protester who ends up in the most trouble after being flattened by a few well timed strikes from the Kyokugen Princess herself. While she's got a lot to learn in the ring, most protesters are amateurs who, at most, are barroom brawlers.

Nevertheless, Yuri has been instructed by her father to remain in the dojo so she'll be safe. Usually, Yuri would be protesting this decision by her father, but given what's been happening as well as how she's been labelled by the society, Yuri is more than happy to follow her father's orders.

To pass the time, Yuri has been training as much as she can within the dojo and going for runs in the nearby forest when it's safe to do so. For now, she is in the dojo practicing her techniques when there's a knock, and Yuri gasps. "Who could be coming at this time?"

Then she hears the strange voice about someone asking for answers. Yuri seems a little puzzled, but a little angry too as she suspects there might be something going on here. Slowly, Yuri creeps to the door then opens it slowly. Upon seeing this person who she doesn't recognize, Yuri goes wide-eyed then narrows her eyes and says, "Who are you? What do you want?"

[SEAN]
"You!"

There would be the sound of a record scratching at this moment if this were like a sitcom or something. Sean snatches his basketball out of whatever move he was about to practice again and tucks it under an arm. "You're the one!" Sean doesn't go into details because he's pretty sure if she's the one causing all of this that she already knows what she's doing so he just kind of hops back a step. He wasn't really sure anybody was even going to answer the door.

"Check this out. I'm Sean. I was out of town, kickin' some major butt at King of Fighters, right?" Sean flashes a quick grin because there's nothing wrong with a little bragging. "I just got back a couple days ago and my whole school is trippin'. Hard." Sean raises an eyebrow and stares at Yuri. "The Word on the Tweet is that this place, and you, know what's up. So that's why I'm here. To find out." Sean pauses. "... to find out what's up." is added on, just in case he wasn't clear enough with his words. Sometimes things get lost in urban translation.

"Cuz let me tell you right now, I need my school back the way it was. It was chill. Now it's not." Sean almost looks at Yuri with pleading eyes. "... make it chill again."

[YURI]
Yuri relaxes a little, realizing that Sean isn't here to accuse her of being behind this whole thing at all. But she knows it could easily be a ploy to lure her into a trap as well. So Yuri remains cautious, hands on her hips as she stares at Sean for a moment, taking in what he's said. The way he's talking is kind of unusual to Yuri, but she doesn't let that bother her too much.

"As a matter of a fact, I do know what's up with all of this," Yuri says, folding her arms as she slips on her Chuck Taylor sneakers and starts to step out of the dojo itself. "There's some kind of bizarre experiment that's been happening behind the scenes. I've been trying to expose what's going on, but in the end, I was attacked by one of their supporters."

Yuri scowls and grits her teeth, clenching her fists as she continues. "One of my own schoolmates, Batsu Ichimonji, was a supporter of this whole thing, and when he found out, he pretty much came after me like I was the scum of the earth!" Yuri stomps her foot and grits her teeth. "He's usually a good kid, but now that this whole thing has started, he's become something else!"

A pause as Yuri makes a sound of frustration before looking to Sean again, still scowling. "After that, he started a wave of lies that I'm responsible for this whole thing, and now I can't show my face at my school or any others. Not to mention, the protesters are calling for me to be brought to justice!" She clenches a fist.

"This is why I've been against this whole thing since the beginning! It's changing people for the worse in more ways than one! It has to be stopped!" With that, Yuri stops to catch her breath before looking up at Sean.

"Is that what you wanted to know? Because that's all I can tell you." She still scowls, but there's a slightly pleading look in her face as well.

[SEAN]
Sean nods along with the words that are being said in the moment. In fact, he even looks like he's actually listening to the words coming out of Yuri's mouth. Although, there's this weird look in his eye that may show that he's not fully believing everything that's being said.

"I thought you'd say that."

Huh?

Sean takes another step back, almost as if he's giving himself some room or something. But what could he possibly need room for if he's just here for some answers. "You sure know a lot about what's going on to not be a part of what's going on, huh?" Sean narrows his eyes and starts bouncing that basketball again. This time it seems to be an almost predatory bouncing. Like he's waiting for her to make a wrong move or something. He's almost itching for it. "I mean, take me for instance, I didn't know any of what you just said. But you... you know everything that's going on and yet, here you are, hiding out in this raggedy ass dojo instead of out here, with the rest of us, trying to fix things. That don't look too good."

Sean cracks just a small half-smile though to show he's not making any threats. "So how 'bout we do this. You come with me, peacefully, and we'll go see if we can't get this whole thing cleared up, huh?" That basketball continues its predatory bounce. "Or, y'know, we can do this the hard way." Sean's half-smile disappears into seriousness.

"Your choice."

"Raggedy dojo? How dare you?" Yuri scowls a little at that comment. "I'll have you know that the Kyokugen style is one of the greatest in the world! We're just trying to fix things up a bit, that's all!" She hmmphs a little. "And of course I know a lot, because I was trying to expose the situation there! But that doesn't mean I'm on THEIR side!" Yuri's voice is a mixture of angry and pleading. "I'm one of the victims here!"

Gritting her teeth and clenching her fists, Yuri breathes rapidly as she continues to speak. "You want me to show you what's going on behind the scenes? Don't you know if I get caught there, they might wipe the floor with me?" She continues to breathe rapidly, but slows down a little as she realizes Sean might have a point. "I... I admit I have been hiding... but it's my dad's decision, not mine!"

Yuri now looks to Sean and says, "Look, I know I came off the wrong way here, I admit it. But I am gonna tell you this, if you want me to show you what's happening, you're gonna have to believe me when I say that." A pause. "Do it the hard way? Hey I'm trying to make an offer here! Let's not get too violent just yet, OK? I mean, there's seriously something wrong for both of us and we need to fix it!"

[SEAN]
Sean raises an eyebrow at about the same time that he stops the dribbling of the basketball. In fact, he lets it fall to the ground and just rests a foot on top of it. That eyebrow stays raised as he keeps a close eye on Yuri during her explanation. He's listening but only just. He doesn't know her well enough to trust her at her word.

"For the record, Ansatsuken is the best. Let's just keep that in the back of our minds, hm?" Sean's not shy about representing for his fighting style. "And maybe if you knew /that/, you wouldn't be worried about these alleged 'behind the scenes' people wiping the floor with you. Just sayin'."

Sean adjusts the sparring gloves that he seems to be wearing for no other reason than he might've been headed to or coming from practice. He's certainly not adjusting them for any other reasons that mey end up becoming clear or something. "Hidin' ain't helpin'. And I think if you really wanted to help, you'd forget about whatever Daddy Dearest wants and help your friends. So I'm callin' bullshit."

Sean cracks his knuckles. Randomly? "Last chance. How do I stop it?"

[YURI]
Yuri goes wide-eyed as she watches Sean accuse her of lying. "For the last time, I'm telling you I don't know how to stop it! All I've seen is what I've experienced. If I knew how to stop it, I would've done it by now." She pauses for air again. "But even then, I could never do it alone, I'd need to enlist the help of others!" But now it seems Sean is adjusting his sparring gloves, and Yuri starts to scowl a little. "OK, I don't know what your problem is, but there's no need to be accusing me of lying or trying to start a fight here, OK?"

Yuri takes a step back as if to emphasize her last statement. "If you want to work with me on this, I'd be more than willing to accept the help. The only fighting I want to do is against those who are responsible for this!" Her facial expression is a mixture of anger and despair. "Seriously, I only know what I've seen!"

[SEAN]
Sean narrows his eyes once again as if he weren't actually listening to anything she had been saying this entire time. In fact, there's a good chance that this was an extended ploy to try and make sure that she was all up out of her comfort zone and away from any back up that might be in that dojo. In fact, he seems to have been gearing up for some sort of action since he showed up here.

He /did/ show up in full fight gear. So weird.

"You took the words right outta' my mouth."

Sean says this with a bit of a smirk and an ire that seems to have been bubbling up from within him ever since the dojo's door was answered. He moves quickly, stepping back and sending his foot into that basketball; a swift kick to send it sailing past Yuri's head as if it signify exactly what he's here for.

"Time to get some real answers!"

Almost immediately, the ball comes at Yuri, and she snaps her neck to the side to avoid being hit by a flying basketball. The basketball misses and bounces off a nearby wall, leaving Yuri unharmed, but pretty peeved that Sean is still believing that she's in on this whole thing. No more pleading or angst, Yuri is really mad now!

"All right, you idiot!" Yuri snaps, clenching her fists tightly as she assumes her fighting stance while bouncing on her heels like she usually does. "I gave you plenty of chances to listen to me, but instead you had to ignore me and take the easy way out, didn't you?!" Yuri hmmphs then shakes her head. "If it's what you wanna do, then I'm gonna have to teach you a lesson the hard way!"

Yuri steps towards Sean quickly as she yells out, "Don't count on any referees to save you here! There are no fouls or anything like that in Kyokugen Karate!" She stops suddenly, then throws a forwards snap kick at Sean's stomach.

Sean has been gearing up for this since he showed up here in the first place. He got her talking and that was all part of the plan. He actually /was/ hoping he could get her to come along without having to fight her but things just seem to go that way whenever people LIE! And since that's what Sean thinks she's doing... he's ready when she comes at him.

Sean almost grins with that snap kick comes in his direction. He actually steps into it, bringing his hands up and leaning to the side as his palms push against that Chuck Taylor of hers. He quips quickly, "Swing and a miss!"

Sean pushes off that snap kick and rolls in towards her, reaching out to grab her and flip her over his shoulder and slam her into the ground.

The moment Yuri's kick is effortlessly stopped by Sean, she can only pull back a little and sigh. "Ugh, I can't BELIEVE I messed up like that!" She says with a sour expression but getting back into her fighting stance almost immediately. "But don't count yourself as too lucky! I'm just getting started I'll have you know!"

Yuri taps her fists together a few times, taking a deep breath to try to keep her mind focused on the fight. "You know, we could've easily avoided this if you had just listened to me the first place!"

The next thing Yuri knows, Sean's rolling in towards her and getting a hold on her. "Hey! Let go of me!" Yuri yelps, attempting to break free from his grasp, but it's no use. Sean lifts her up and attempts to slam her into the ground. The key word here is 'attempt.'

Yuri somehow recovers at the last minute and plants her feet first on the ground, reducing the impact from the throw, then she breaks free from Sean's grasp. "Not bad, I suppose!" Yuri says with a lot of sarcasm.

"But don't forget, I'm just warming up! What else do you have up your sleeve? Because I've got quite a few things up mine!" Yuri places her left hand on her right sleeve as if pretending to lift it up, but in reality, it's the beginning of the motion for her throwing a small fireball directly at Sean. "Try this one!"

Sean manages to recover from his failed attempt at taking this girl down. In fact, he's even a little bit smug as he hops backwards and gets into a stance of bouncing on heels all his own. Then the trash talking comes so he can't do anything but send some choice words right back at her. "Girl, please. Anything you can do, I've already done better!"

Except, to prove that point, he's not even paying attention. He's too busy being a bit of a cocky son-of-a to be ready for that fireball that comes sailing at him. He catches sight of it almost too late and the moment he brings those arms together in an X to block it... the power blows right through, knocks his arms apart and the fireball hits him dead in his chest. His gi gets singed and he's knocked backwards, skidding agains the ground for a bit but he doesn't go down.

"Gah..." He follows that up with a wince and a grab of his chest. "That's your only freebie." Sean tries to save face before he leaps into the air, somersaults towards Yuri and tries to catch her with a jump kick to the chest!

This time, Yuri successfully connects with her fireball and she raises her fist in front of her as if to say, "I did it!" But there's no more celebrating after that, as she saw that the fireball hit, and sometimes it hits rather hard, meaning Sean might try to retaliate in a hard manner as well. It doesn't matter, though, since Yuri's still watching him like a hawk and doesn't intend to let him get the best of her.

"Freebie? Bah! That was pure skill!" Yuri says with a chuckle, but the chuckle stops when she sees Sean coming back at her, and he's intent on hitting her hard. Namely right in the chest with a jumping kick! That's no way to treat a young lady, is it? Wait, is Yuri even a lady? Who knows?

The moment Sean makes contact with Yuri, though, she's ready for him, because just as he hits her, Yuri twists to the side and grabs Sean as he comes to the ground. With a firm grip on Sean, Yuri falls onto her back and throws HIM into the air away from her.

Getting up via a kippup, Yuri rubs her chest a little before shaking her head. "So, still think that was just a freebie?"

[SEAN]
Sean's in the air and actually flailing about for a small moment before he hits the ground. The collision is a quick one and he rolls with the impact for a bit and then rolls up to his feet. He has to take a quick moment to shake his head clear but otherwise he still looks like he's ready to rock and roll. Even if he has to try and save face. Again. "Okay. Two Freebies. But that's it!"

Sean pumps his sparring gloves together and takes off in a quick dash towards Yuri. He doesn't even slow down when he spins though, gaining momentum and leaping into the air into a tumbling styled wheel kick that aims to send one heel after another all up in Yuri's personal space.

The quips are quiet for the moment, although, Sean's wearing a big grin on his face. Or is that a fight grin? Probably both.

Unfortunately, it seems that Yuri has been caught off guard this time. Before she can react, Sean gets her with those tumbling kicks, knocking her for a loop and sending her staggering before she falls on her rear. Hard.

"Owww!" Yuri yells as she hits the cement with little to no protection. "Hey, that hurt!" Gritting her teeth, Yuri forces herself back up onto her feet. "Freebies schmeebies!" Yuri snaps. "I just made a mistake there, so don't go feeling all like you're a big shot or something!" She starts towards Sean in a deliberate manner.

"I'm all warmed up now, meaning that the fight is really gonna get underway! See this fist?" Yuri holds up her fist to emphasize this point. "You're gonna get a nice close-up of it in a few seconds!" The steps become faster and faster. "So you better watch out!"

A few more steps and then Yuri's running at Sean, coming in close before ducking down then jumping into the air with a rising uppercut!

Sean keeps his hands up the moment he's back to his stance after laying those kicks down on Yuri. He backs up to keep the space open and he watches her closely while she revs up her words. He doesn't want to get caught by another one of those fireballs. They freaking sting!

"Yeah, yeah." seems to be his response to her when she starts running off at the mouth about her fist. Although, her words give him an idea of what's coming so he's already moving to spin out of the way as she ducks down to deliver that uppercut. "Word of advice..." He keeps spinning to get himself clear but trash talks the entire time. "... don't telegram your punches. That was like a whole dang speech!"

Sean doesn't go too far away, though. In fact, the moment his back is turned to Yuri, he's leaping into the air and a back spin-kick to see if he can't catch her in the air from that uppercut attempt!

Yuri winds up hitting nothing but air, putting a pout and a scowl on her face. "Aww, I did it again! I can't believe it!" As she comes down towards the ground, she's cursing herself audibly when Sean comes at her. "Oh no, you don't!" Yuri exclaims as she goes into action almost immediately.

One arm comes down to deflect that leg away, meaning that Yuri's arm absorbs most of the pain, which isn't much thankfully. "OK, I admit I got carried away there, but I won't make THAT mistake again!" Yuri imagines her father chewing her out before making her do one-hundred knuckle push-ups on the cement barehanded as punishment for that.

Shaking the pain out of her arm, Yuri waits for Sean to come down before a smile forms on her face. "That was a nice kick, but it didn't do much good it seems." She shakes her head and tsks. "Too bad!" Just then, Yuri leaps into the air and begins spinning around with her leg outstretched. All the while, she's flying in an arc directly towards Sean!

COMBATSYS: Sean dodges Yuri's Chou Mawashi Geri.

Sean knows the moves of outstretched legs and spinning through the air very well. He's done it himself and he's also been kicked by such things on a regular basis. Which is why he's dropping to the ground and rolling underneath the moment Yuri starts that aerial assault.

Sean pops up on the other side with a grin and takes the time to brush the dirt off the shoulder of his gi. "Told ya' you only get two." He's bringing up those freebies again to just throw a dig at her before he's dashing towards her with another quip, "Let me show you how it's done!"

Sean leaps into the air and goes into his own spin-series, sending one leg out and following it up with the other one. A more stylishly alternated kicks version of a move that many karate practitioners have in their arsenal. Including Yuri!

Again Yuri misses, and again she's cursing sourly. Once she hits the ground she turns to face Sean and is about to strike him when he starts to spin around in the air. And that human tornado does not look like something Yuri wants any part of. Which is why Yuri quickly falls backwards and does a backwards somersault on the ground away from Sean's tornado. "No you don't!" Yuri exclaims as she gets back up and sees that it worked.

"What do you think this is? The Wizard of Oz?" Yuri asks before sticking out her tongue while giving an eyeball at Sean. "You wanna show ME how it's done? I'll show YOU how it's done!" Yuri brings her hands behind her back, gathering her energy into them, then shoots forth a rather large fireball at Sean. He'd better think fast!

"Hey! That movie is awesome! Don't hate!"

Sean manages to catch himself before he goes into a rant about the Wizard of Oz. Granted, he also liked The Wiz but he's not going to get into that right now. Not while this girl is gathering up chi like crazy. He remembers how that other fireball felt and he's already leaping to the side when that large fireball passes through where he just was. He even does an extra cartwheel to make sure that he's out of the way.

"Show me what now?" Sean grins and stands up straight again, doing a little shadowboxing to see if he can't get Yuri to focus on his hands for the moment. Since he's picking something up with his feet, kicking it a couple times and then soccer kicks it right off in the direction of her face!

Oh, what is it? His Basketball.

"Think fast!"

Basketball? Yuri's not in the mood for playing hoops!

Unfortunately, Sean isn't just playing hoops. He's playing for keeps! That basketball is coming at Yuri fast, but Yuri grins and says, "Oh no you don't!" She raises her hands and attempts to deflect the basketball away from her using a field of chi.

Unfortunately, Yuri's a little too low, as the ball goes high and smacks her in the face. Hard.

"UNNGH!" Yuri cries out, stumbling backwards and holding her face in pain. When her hand comes away, she finds it's stained with blood. "You JERK!" Yuri yells, trying to catch her breath. "I'll make you pay for that!"

[SEAN]
Sean is already on the move when that basketball connects because he's ready to go for the follow up. He's managed to get himself into the upper-hand of this here battle and so he's dashing for her with the quickness that should put him close enough to her for his next attempt at putting her lights out.

So that he can get the answers he needs.

He drops into a duck the moment he's close enough and then attempts to take to the skies, both of his sparring gloved fists raised over head and body twisting, as he aims this double-fisted uppercut right at Yuri!

"Put it on my tab!"

A double-fisted uppercut? That's a new one on Yuri.

Not to mention one that hits real hard. Yuri is knocked upwards and into the air. She lands flat on her face, hard. When she gets up, she's got blood streaming from her nose even more than before. Then again, landing on cement will do that to you.

"Unngh... ooh..." Yuri staggers around, trying to keep herself steady. "Answers... answers... I dunno..." She looks up at Sean and babbles, "I tell... you... I know... nothing..."

Suddenly, Yuri lights up for a moment as she brings both of her hands behind her back again, and this time throws forth not one, not two, but THREE large fireballs at Sean!

Whether or not they hit is irrelevant, because once they're thrown, Yuri falls flat on her face... for real.

COMBATSYS: Yuri can no longer fight.

Sean lands with a pep in his step after smacking Yuri with those fists. He ends up bending over to scoop up his basketball, since he's just oh so sure that the Dragon Smash has taken her out of this fight. Except, she's still talking? What?

Sean wheels back up and around to see what she's babbling about when there are three massive fireballs headed in his direction. He holds the basketball up and tries to sidestep but the first one smashes into his body, which rocks him right into the path of the second one which damn near takes him off his feet and the third finishes the job, by sending him sailing backwards and crashing into the wall of the dojo. There's pain, anguish and the crunching of bone that happens when Sean smacks into the dojo.

It takes him a moment to get back to his feet and he even has to use the basketball to help steady himself. His gi has been burnt to most of a crisp and he's stumbling as he takes himself over to where Yuri is. Blood drips of his own mouth because fireballs cause internal bleeding, dammit. "Ugh. Let's... let's get you inside." He reaches down to see if he can't get Yuri up and onto his shoulder.

"We're gonna' get to the bottom of this." Another wince. "... when you wake up."

COMBATSYS: Sean takes no action.
