KOF 2016 - Broken Hearts: the 3 souls

Description: The angy Yuri storms off across town. But she meets a familiar face, and a new one. Will her hopes be fulfilled? Together, they may mend a broken heart.

Times are rough down in Southtown. Namely for Yuri, because while the King of Fighters tournament is coming up soon, Ryo and Robert have their own issues to attend to, so neither of them are able to join Yuri and form a team of their own. And Yuri can't even THINK of asking her father to help her out, since he needs to look after the Kyokugen Dojo. Feeling extra frustrated, Yuri has stormed out of the Kyokugen Dojo and is trying to find a place to blow off steam. Because when Yuri gets mad, she really gets mad, and you don't want to mess with her at all.

Unfortunately, with it being such a nice day out, Yuri finds that there are too many places that are populated with people. The more she wanders, the more angry she becomes. She would knock over a garbage can in an alleyway or something, but doesn't want to draw attention to herself. And there could be alley cats in them too, who knows? Nevertheless, Yuri's still boiling mad as she walks into the North Outskirts area of Southtown.

"Stupid brother, and Robert too!" Yuri snaps. "How could they betray me like this? They'd rather deal with their own things than go to the King of Fighters tournament! How stupid can they get? I thought they were true fighters!" Yuri clenches her fists and stomps her feet as she continues walking through the area.

As Yuri storms around, she more than likely hear the gentle sounds of an Irish whistle being played somewhere nearby. In one of the side alleys, sitting in a small decorative 'window' shaped in bricks, sits Munin, playing a soft tune and seemingly attempting to do the very same thing: avoid most everyone else. Judging by her positioning, if she wasn't playing the instrument, few would ever think to look up where she's positioned herself.

She peers down, stopping her playing as she overhears "You live and work in and around a dojo. There aren't students that would be interested, and competant, enough to form a team with you?".

In the wonderful weather did little to improve the sights in the shady outskirts. Miguel was walking around in a slump do to not knowing how to follow up on his lead. Then he hears the loud yells of a young girl.

He rushes in an instinctive urge to protect who ever she was from the less savory denizens of the area. He then hears on old Irish whistle. He gazes to see a scene of a teenaged girl having a fit, and a most bizarre women.

Slightly startled and confused, Miguel asks. "Um, are you alright?". "I heard your yells, and I came over here because I was worried something had happened..."

Yuri doesn't care about the Irish whistles at first. She's too angry to care about anything but the fact she's missed out on going to the King of Fighters tournament and doesn't want to talk to anyone. Which is why when Munin talks to her, Yuri turns to face her with a scowl. "Yeah, I do, but there's several problems. First, only the top students from the Kyokugen Dojo would be allowed to participate in the King of Fighters tournament. That's one of the guidelines my father wrote, being the arrogant fool he is. And even then, there's the issue of actually being ABLE to go to the tournament!

She turns and looks away, folding her arms and closing her eyes a little. "Because my father is the worst manager possible, and in order to keep his reputation up, he's insisted that no students go to the tournament because he, 'needs them to help keep the school running strong.'" She turns to face Munin again. "There are several students, but my father won't allow them to participate!"

And then Miguel makes his appearance. Yuri turns to look at him and says, "I doubt you'd understand. It's about a tournament known as King of Fighters. But I don't think you'd know anything about that, would you?"

"Jell-O Lazer" Munin emit In response Munin shakes her head "Bah. They should quite and go anyway..... just to spite such an egotistical rule. They won't get better if they don't push themselves.....". She looks to Miguel as he asks his question "Sa'll good. No ones being harmed here. Just venting rage, it seems."

King of Fighters, this was it, something that could get him a lead. Now in a more normal voice, Miguel responses to Yuri. “I am glad you are both alright.” “Now I do know of this King of Fighters tournament. What is it to you?”

Miguel did simply ignore the bizarre woman’s response. He was unfocused on getting in that tournament.

Yuri rolls her neck around and sighs a little, starting to calm down. "Unfortunately, my father is the master of manipulation and things like that. Because once you join the school, he expects you to devote 110% of yourself to it... whatever THAT means! Truth be told, his ego is the biggest issue within the Kyokugen dojo, which is why some students leave and don't come back." Now looking a little calmer for some reason, Yuri goes over to a nearby vendor and purchases a bottle of sports drink. Uncapping it and sipping it, she looks to Munin and then adds, "He expects you to do things like help work on construction within the dojo, advertising, things like that." Another sigh.

Then she looks to Miguel and says, "Oh, so you DO know about King of Fighters, hm?" She lightens up and scratches the back of her head nervously. "My apologies, when I'm angry I tend to assume the worst. But yeah, I've always been about getting into the King of Fighters tournament to prove myself as a Kyokugen Karate fighter. I mean I've never actually won, but it's about doing the best I can I believe. But my father refuses to let any of our students join, and both my brother and my friend Robert are unable to make it, so I have no team!" She doesn't refer to Robert as a boyfriend, because while she has a crush on him, she's not about to admit that she's in love.

Munin raises an eyebrow as a crazy thought comes to mind. She's heard of the tourney in question. After all, what fighter HASN'T after a certain point in their lives? Never considered herself quite good enough.... but now.....

Why not?

"Get a third.... i'll go with you. Could be interesting". She's had matches with Yuri before, and her dojo is known, so Munin knows already Yuri IS a competant fighter....

... If a bit childish sometimes.

Miguel was excited, not only did she know how to get in, but she had and invite as well. In a most chivalrous voice Miguel proposes an option to Yuri. "You have this boy refuse to help you! I will gladly join you in the tournament."

"Now I am Miguel Caballero Rojo. Now with this lady up by the window, that will be three." "Together we shall show that boy by crushing the tournament and showing how much he lost by not joining you."

"Oh, and may I ask you your name senorita?"

Yuri looks to Munin, then does a double-take as she recognizes her from before. "M-Munin?" She asks, raising an eyeberow. "I didn't know it was you at first I..." She trails off as Munin makes her suggestion, and now Yuri's really surprised. "W-wait, you want to join up with me? I... I don't believe it!" She thinks she's dreaming, but apparently Munin wants to join her. "Well, if that's the case, I don't mind. But, where are we gonna find someone else?"

How coincidental that Miguel is now offering to join them as well. Yuri now spins and smirks and says, "All right, it's settled, the three of us shall beome a team!" Grinning, she jumps for joy like a cheerleader and yipees happily. Then she looks to Miguel and says, "Oh yeah, my name! It's Yuri Sakazaki, nice to meetcha Miguel!" This is a true change from what Yuri was like a few minutes ago. Apparently, all you need are the right words and right plans and Yuri can change in a heartbeat!

The sound of a quick motion is heard, and looking up at Munins perch, she is no longer there!

Then, from a shadowy corner behind the pair "As Yuri stated, I'm Munin Arshe". Her glowing eyes lock onto Miguel intensely. She knows Yuri, both from battle, reputation, affiliations, and so on. She does NOT recognize Miguel or recall seeing him anywhere, and this makes her very suspicious by nature. Whatever is going through her mind is not spoken, and she gives him an acknowledging nod. "At worst, valuable experience. At best? We walk away the winners. Seems win-win to me"

Miguel had an air of gallantry, like he had beaten down a whole bar. With that he speaks. "Si senorita. That is the spirit."

Miguel was joyful. He was one step closer to vengeance, once step closer to justice. "Now, we need a name? Si?"

"any ideas?"

"Yeah, that's the spirit. But names?" She bites her lower lip. "Uh... I can't think of anything off the top of my head." She grins nervously, before looking to Munin. "You got any ideas? I wanna leave this open to you guys as well. We're all in this together you know!"

Munin shrugs, shaking her head "No idea. i might come up with something eventually, but nada off the top of my head. Sorry". She looks to Miguel, who seems more like Yuri in being emotion-driven so far "Anything?"

With the shrug Miguel has few suggestions. “um, maybe Broken Hearts? The Defiant? I only got a few ideas on the top of my head”

"Broken Hearts sounds good," Yuri replies with a smirk. "I dunno why, I just like the ring to it." She looks to Miguel and Munin. "Well, then I guess we are known as the Broken Hearts! Although hopefully we shouldn't be too broken after the tournament, right?" She gives a thumbs up and a wink.
