IHST - Inter-High School Tournament: Hitomi vs Kensou

Description: It's the second round of the INTER-HIGH TOURNAMENT!! Taiyo High school plays host to a matchup between Taiyo Schools own Hitomi and Sie Kensou of Justice High! The rooftop arena plays host to a time excusive match available and broadcast in real time across the Taiyo campus (As the venue is inaccessible for spectators.) WINNER : (Kensou)

Kensou had made it.

The wide rooftop of Taiyo High sits amongst the apartments of neighboring buildings rising high above them. This was the site of the next tournament fight within the Inter-High Tournament, a fight between Justice High and Taiyo High; Sie Kensou and Hitomi. The roof was essentially clear, not even with the students being able to watch it directly. Fortunately, a judge and cameraman stood by; with the camera being a live feed to the televisions throughout the school.

And Kensou stood by, ready.

He didn't understand why this was a big deal. But he knew it was. It was the biggest deal, winning this tournament for Justice High. More important than showing off to Athena. The young teenager was dressed in his jean jacket and shorts, standing by with a focused stare in his eyes. His fight with Kyosuke was close; it was clear that Taiyo High students were talented martial artists. And if Hitomi had progressed further into the Tournament like he had...

Then she would be even more tough than Kyosuke.

The girl sharing the rooftop in question is seated on edge of the rooftop with legs dangling freely over the edge; Serenely observing with eyes roving all over the cityscape and then coming back to the activity going on in the grounds. Below, students were gathering around some of the monitors and impromptu displays set up by the AV clubs, nexus points of students ceasing what they were doing to come watch. It seemed everyone was getting into the spirit of having the tournament happening right here on campus.

The schools recent transfer from parts foreign was however was finding it draw on any school spirit. The students and faculty here were nice but she hadn't been here long enough to really become invested in these school rivalries.

She raises a hand to catch her hair against a sudden gust of wind but continues seemingly lost in her reverie. Just how are you supposed to fight and show spirit when you didn't really feel it, was it okay for people to think you were fighting for them instead of yourself?

Wearing a long sleeved shirt and a puffy cotton filled jacket she isn't feeling the chill up here, still bandaged arms concealed and protected from the cold while she sits lost in her own thoughts. An ever so slight frown she just keeps reflecting on how she feels about fighting for a cause so many people are invested in.

Kensou rubs his arm.

He was still feeling the pangs of injury from his incident with Krizalid. His memory of the fight was hazy, like a dream. Just flashes of pain, and anger. It was not a good feeling. It was one he had hoped to forget. It was fighting to protect Athena. To defend her honor. It should be something to be proud of. And yet.

It brought shame to Justice High.

The teenager was getting impatient. His opponent was standing by the edge of the roof, staring at unimportant things. They had to be unimportant; they were in the way of the fight. "Hey! HEY!" The Psycho Soldier yells out at the girl. "ORA ORA! Come on, snap out of it! We have a fight here!" Kensou's blunt words were a bit uncharacteristic, at least in this case. Already, he was walking towards the girl, striding towards her furiously. Kensou wanted to start this fight as soon as possible. He had to prove that Justice High was the greatest.

Because Justice High was the greatest.

There's no response at first from the Taiyo entrant; the calls of 'Hey' though loud don't seem to get through to her. As Kensou walks closers still speaking loudly and gaining in volume and pitch with proximity Hitomi jolts as if surprised; slowly twisting her neck to look back and then craning up to stare at him with a slightly bewildered look. That's right! The broadcasts were probably even starting across the school and here she was still sitting here.

Taking one last look back down at the campus as a further armoured vehicle rolls in the front gate and rolls sedately toward the pavilion cutting across the lawns already scored by heavy tire marks. It was an odd sight to be sure, it most definitely looked out of place but then again perhaps it wasn't so far outside the norm for Japan.

Frowning and starting down at the spectacle below with one last glance she instead half bows to Kensou due to the limited room and potentially perilous location.

"I'm sorry, I was just.. thinking."

The girl swings her legs back up onto the roof and climbs back to her feet, Dressed in jeans and a warm looking thick ribbed orange jacket with hood the girl looks to be bundled up against the cool weather. She has managed to wipe away the frown and is smiling rather pleasantly, despite the Japanese features, the light brown hair and bright blue eyes mark her as a haafu Japanese, which becomes clearly evident when she extends a gloved hand in an offer of a western style handshake.

"I'm Hitomi, It's a pleasure to meet you!"

She was sorry?

"Uh, um." Was the sputter from Kensou as the girl remains sweet. As she extends her hand forward for a handshake, he looks around nervously, his eyes darting around. "Uuuuuuh." Kensou tries very hard to figure out what to do next, when the admitably cute Hitomi was being very perky. Finally, he extends his hand forward nervously, touching her's lightly.

"Uh... Hello!"

He jerks his arm, in the shape and function of a hand shake. "I am Sie Kensou, of Justice High! It is uh, nice to meet you too." Kensou withdraws his hand, and becomes quiet. He looks around awkwardly, peeking behind her for a glimpse of what was happening below. He remains quiet for a few seconds more, rubbing his hands a bit. "So, uh... Huh."

"Are you... ready to fight?"

Shaking hands Hitomi feels better about the match. A theoretical duel for the honour of schools wasn't something she was -the words knife clean through her just as she was trying to rectify her thoughts on fighting the young man in front of her rather than an inter-school rivaly. Sie Kensou Of-Justice-High. Hmm, Looks like he was fighting for his own school as well. Out of pride maybe the way he had said it.

Her lips twitch awkwardly in response to bringing the school rivalry up, and she waives it off with both hands raised between them, open palms and finger splayed she waves her empty hands between both teens while apologizing profusely for her laxness.

"No, -no-no It's my fault! I should have been ready and waiting for you. It's no problem. I'm ready!"

She hastily turns her back and starts walking back toward the central area of the rooftop. Twisting her waist and performing a couple of quick side bends, reaching overhead to quickly stretch-out any kinks. Hitomi retains her coat but does not to the Judge and blinks at the sudden intrusion of the cameraman leaning around the judge to get a shot of her face on. Everyone was watching weren't they, she half-waves to the camera and almost a half second later eruptions of 'Taiyo!' And cheers from the schoolyard and building under their feet.

Auuhh! Inter-School tournament, it was right there in the name, no real cause for complaint suddenly finding it turning out like this. She just hasn't thought it would be this intense a clash based on schools. She's on her mark, the fight can begin anytime.

Man, Kensou almost felt bad.

She was just so sweet. Fighting would almost be like fighting Athena! But in a bad way. Kensou suddenly freezes up for a moment. What if Athena AND Kensou had to fight? What if it came down to both of them to win the top prize? Or worse? Just make it to the finals? They wouldn't be so cruel to pit Justice High against Justice High, would they?

Oh no, they would.

He could imagine himself now, having defeated Athena, her broken form on the ground. The brief moment of joy, at his own strength, would suddenly fade as Athena's soft sobs seep out. 'I am sorry Athena, I did not-' Kensou could hear himself say. And yet, as he reaches out for her arm, she jerks it out from his grip. And then, -he- shows up. The K Dash loser, riding up on his motorcycle. He would come off, and go down to Athena. "Are you hurt babe?' he would say, as Athena instinctively would go to his arms.

Kensou suddenly brings an arm over his eyes, hiding the tears.

"I-I-I'm ready too!" The teenager stammers, giving a great sniffle. Wiping the tears away, he falls back into his fighting stance. "Yes! I am ready! Are... Are you ready Mr-" THe judge drops his hands, showing the fight had begun. Kensou nods firmly.

"Okay! Here I go!"

And he takes his pounce. Leaping through the air, he hurls himself straight at Hitomi. Kensou was already exploding fast, beginning with his favored opening strategy; overwhelm his opponent, before they even knew what was going on. In this case, Kensou was leading with a three-strike aerial combo: A flying elbow chained to a flying knee, before finally finishing into a flying kick. He was going to test this girl's defense.

Before really getting serious with her.

At first Hitomi isn't quite sure what to make of her opponent, was he.. crying over there? She doesn't have a handkerchief or any tissues and this fight is starting to feel -really- awkward. Even the Judge seems a little conflicted whilst the cameraman showing absolutely no class is tightly focused on the display of Kensou's passion (And perhaps delusion) from the moment he covered his eyes. As the judge signals the event can begin Hitomi makes no move to advance on kensou but manages to time her response.

"Please d-"

Cut off mid-sentence she fends off his sudden leaping advance as best she can. The wound across the back of her arms screeches in protest as she uses it to try and ward against the flying elbow, the knee meets both of her arms combined though no lessening of the pain when it's distributed across both arms, she is pushed backward and slaps both arms against the side of the leg attempting the flying kick and guides her torso out of danger, shifting his trajectory just a little and speeding her sway before the blow quite reaches her. There is no question her arms were hurting after that beating, taking all those blows head on waouln't do anyone any good.

The pained looking girl reels aside and seems to draw back in on herself, but the way her legs and braced and locked, she isn't cowering in pain, and she is coiling back; winding up into something!

"SeeYAH!"

The windup takes some time, it's slow. But when she explodes out of stance toward Kensou it's by shifting her weight forward and up like she was stepping toward him with a CLUMP of as her boot clamps down; the whole time the fist is accelerating toward his upper chest. Her teeth are gritted with effort, all that windup for one huge spurt of effort and power.

Oh no.

The windup was slow, but the cooldown was long. As the assault of kicks comes flying out, Kensou lands right in front of the german lass. Regaining his footing, the boy watches the girl as she winds up. "Hah, nice try!" He states, as he deftly dodges to the left for- no it didn't come out. Well okay he can just DODGE TO THE RIGHT-

Hang on.

Kensou backflips, attempting the third dodge, before stepping forward. "Are... are you okay? I know you are preparing for an attack! So if you are going to attack me, you might as-"

Kensou is interrupted by being punched in the chest.

"OH NO!" Was the cry as he takes the hit hard. Staggering back, the teenager a gasps for air, grabbing his chest feebly as he struggles to breath. The wind, flat out, was knocked out of him. Gagging and gasping, he moans in pain for a moment.

Before leaping at the girl once again.

"You jerk!" THe teenager cries as he takes to the air. Kensou hurls himself forward once again, this time not using a delicate combo. IN its place, psionic energy flowed over his elbow as he just tries to smash that joint right in her chest. A fast, powerful move.

But Hitomi was used to blows like that.

"J-Jerk!?"

Taking the blow head on Hitomi struggles though the pain as her body take an unwilling step backwards, contra to her wishes to quickly strike back and with face contorted by pain, one eye screwed shut and both arms hugging her chest and covering her breasts; The blow felt like it had cored right through her. There is an 'unghk' as she recoils though she seems to recover enough to shout right back at him.

"This is a fight! W-we don't call each other jerks!"

If she was struggling with the pain still or just getting angry or embrassed she was flushed pink as she yells, it wasn't fair calling her a jerk just for hitting him. She steps back in toward him trying to deliver a one armed shove to Kensou's upper torso leading into the follow-up rising knee and step in for a Fujin punch trying to knock him away.

The blow struck by Kensou had obviously been effective and painful, the way Hitomi wavered and was pushed back sets the students all over the school to yelling encouragement at the displays. In the Av room however they freeze the recorded action on another monitor and run back through the frames like a slideshow, did he just? Yes, yes he did.

The blow had been softly cushioned against Kensou's elbow strike. The Taiyo girl had obviously felt the full impact of the blow, but for Kensou.. it had been marshmallowy soft - odd for a crushing elbow strike to the.. Chest.

A perfect chest blow!

"All is fair in a fight for our schools! Justice High above all else!" Was the response from Kensou. Hurling an elbow right into her chest, there was something... wrong. Kensou dimly registers that when you hit someone like Athena, or Chin in the chest, it did not feel like this. It should be hard, and boney. This was soft, and bouncy. Also like driving an elbow right into a big smooth teddy bear. Kensou tries and understand what would make the difference. On why-

Kensou glances down to where his elbow had struck.

Kensou immediately pops a blood vessel in his nose.

"HUURK!" Was the sound before the boy is shoved off. He tries to swing his hand down to catch the rising knee, and manages to catch it at the flat of his palms. But as the punch riots forth, he takes the hit cleanly, knocking him away into a tumble. A trail of blood leads to the boy, who perks up, holding his nose. "Uh, uh, that was- I mean, uh. Uh. Hang on, where is it." He pats around his jacket, reaching inside it. "WHERE IS IT?!" He blurts out, patting his top with both hands now. Finally, he holds up a finger. "Oh, I remember!"

And he reaches into his shorts.

Promptly, he pulls out a meatbun. Licking his lips, he holds it up briefly... before narrowing his eyes. He casts a glance towards Hitomi, and then back to the meatbun. He lowers it slightly, moving it where it compared to Hitomi. To the girl. Back to the meatbun. He suddenly turns bright red in the face, as another blood vessel in his nose breaks. Covering his eyes with one head, he turns away, nibbling the meatbun slightly...

Before just stuffing it down his throat.

Cocks her head questioningly as Kensou exclaims loudly, had he lost something important to him? He had tumbled kind of far - She shrieks and claps both hands over her eyes as he starts rummaging around in his shorts.

"W-wh-wh-wha-WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING!"

What kind of a fight was this? This was so awkward and embarrassing; she just felt - like Daniel must have felt fighting her during their SNF. This was hardly looking like a proper and honourable fight! She couldn't even look at her opponent right now. Opening a gap in her fingers she peeks back at him and lowers her hands in shock as she seeks him holding a meat bun at her and apparently squinting or sighting down the product at her, w-was this going to devolve into a food fight now?

As he nibbles and then stuffs the meat bun into his mouth her jaw drops open and she can't help but stare.

"You're.. eating that!? Ah, I mean -- S-snacking in the middle of a fight?"

She's not sure of what to be more upset about at this point! ... He just! - He had! - The meat bun! - BOYS!! She smashes her fist into an open palm, while her thoughts sizzle and whirl around in her head. There's just something right here that offended her nature and demanded she become even more serious. She had already fought one immensely powerful and honourable opponent, knocking Makoto out of the tournament for this fight!?

The viewing audience is surprisingly torn on the prospect of mid-fight snacking, but almost exclusively those in favour of it are young males who are intrigued by such revolutionary ideas.

COMBATSYS: Hitomi gathers her will.

Kensou smacks his lips, finishing off the last of the meatbun.

Strength fills his body, as he flexes his arms to each side. Snorting hard, he gives a hard wipe on his face, clearing away the copious amounts of blood. The meatbun had almost a magical effect in reviving the teenager, as he no longer seems to be tired. Closing his eyes, he takes in a deep breath.

And feels the frustration pour out of Hitomi.

Kensou squints his eyes hard, a frown spreading on his face. She was growing... angry with him. He could feel it. Kensou had been... he had been pretty mean. He certainly wouldn't have whipped out his meatbun right in front of Athena like that. Maybe he should be more considerate of Hitomi. Kensou nods firmly, opening his eyes. "I am sorry, Hitomi! I should have given you a heads up before I downed that meat bun!" The young student sweeps his arms around in semi-circles, rotating in opposite circles.

"But don't forget that we both are in it to win it!"

Psycho energy flows to his fingertips as he cycles his arms again. Taking several massive steps, he bounds towards Hitomi, surging towards her to close the distance as she flows with energy. Arms sweeping, the energy builds brighter and brighter, condensing into a blue orb as big as Kensou's head. Taking a depe breath in, he suddenly exhales with a cry. The orb doubles in size, so bright that it is nearly blinding. With a sweep of his hands, he finally releases it straight into Hitomi, point blank at her chest.

Dammit Kensou stop aiming for the chest.

The rooftop is enveloped in snow, fluffy white specks that fill the air and motes of white fluttering down around everyone present. But it wasn't that cold, the weather hadn't predicted any snowfall else the match would likely have been scheduled indoors. Four meters away, lying flat on her back Hitomi is surrounded by ragged orange tatters and small heaped wads of cotton; the ribbed orange jacket shredded and ejecting more cotton fluff to add to that being carried around by the winds up here on the rooftop. She struggles to sit back up, eyes wide with shock but suddenly flinching while experiencing the pain brought on by moving. She had totally underestimated him, this Kensou was a weird guy but that didn't mean he wasn't really strong, the goofball act could even be part of his style maybe? Chiding herself for it the whole time, she pushes through the pain to climb back to her feet promptly if a little unsteadily.

"I'm here to fight against a bunch of new and interesting people!r
For which Kensou most suitable qualified, though not maybe in a way she actually liked she had to admit that to herself. She is being completely honest, the campus all around her privy to her thoughts of how selfish she was in not properly fighting to represent Taiyo in the Inter-High. All over the school people fall silent or murmur amongst themselves in their groups, one of their representatives wasn't fighting for the school itself or the students cheering them on.

"The scholarship would be nice so that my parents didn't have to pay for college, the reasons I wanted to fight are my own! ...I'm sorry Taiyo."

The camera lingering on her the moment she started to respond to Kensou but addressed to the whole school. She grins energetically with that load off her mind and raises her first

"Here I come!"

Streaking at Kensou while still trailing endless plumes and speckled clouds of white cotton form her damaged jacket she rushes down upon him and aims a strike right into his midline with a single sharp punch and all her weight behind it.

Taiyo is quiet.

This wasn't right.

As the blast of energy leaves an aftermath of down, Kensou actually smirks. Not a kind smirk. But a rather mean-spirited one. It just rises to the surface, a glimmer of shadow that was lurking under his personality. He hardly notices it. But someone looking from the television screens, who knew Kensou well, might notice it.

And they might notice what comes next.

Kensou approaches her, as she approaches him. Her words, about she needing the scholarship more, does graze Kensou's soul. The smirk goes away, as a look of empathy comes over him. Concern for her well-being, sympathy for her plight, does take its affect on him. As she streaks at Kensou, the single punch rockets forth. Kensou ducks low, bringing both of his hands up to catch the blow in the crook of his arms. He groans, his feet sliding along the ground a good foot from the impact. A dynamic block, but one that hurt both of his limbs. As she says sorry for Taiyo, he even thinks about Kyosuke; how he was treating Taiyo.

But the thing was.

Kensou had to do everything for Justice High.

"I don't care about your school! I only care about Justice High! And if you are too weak to stand for your school like Kyosuke... then maybe Taiyo is a school for the weak!" The words seem to flow from Kensou like a disease, a foul miasma that was pouring from his mouth. It was cruel, it was mean. Kensou was many things. But this single-minded meanness... that wasn't like him. "It looks like I didn't try hard enough!" Kensou seeths, sweeping his arms around again as he shoves her fist back. Psionic energy blazing through him once more as he builds up ANOTHER ball of Psycho energy. The orb begins as big as the one before... until he surges another wave of energy into it, doubling it in size. "Taiyo is no match for Justice High! Kyosuke proved this! And you!" Sweat pours from his face, as his arms shudder. Another surge of energy boils into the ball, as he taps to his extremes of power. It doubles in size again, the indigo ball of energy now bigger than Kensou. And there, rotating his arms, one clockwise, the other counterclockwise, he just takes a bounding step straight into Hitomi, hurling the energy point blank again. Kensou, a Psycho Soldier, trained by Chin...

Was spamming the same projectile move back to back.

The remark has a marked effect; Hitomi pales and can feel the shame knifing her in the gut, it's a blow she is ill prepared for she can't even answer back. But she had a place here, this tournament was just an outlet to let her.. No, it wasn't. These other people were fighting for their schools, Places like Gedo and Justice full of their respective school spirit and fighting for their comrades. And she was here---why? She hadn't even made friends with any of the people here. Just.. selfishly thought she could fight in thier tournament. It might be fun she had thought.

Even still, she had resolve enough to fight even if she was shaken, having pushed back against his block she tries to distance herself as he starts to summon yet another gathering of sphere of energy. How -- how do you fight against this? If she could sidestep it or dodge under it, but it just keeps getting bigger and more severe looking, she had already had a taste of how much this power hurt, she doesn't want to experience how much THIS particular attack would feel.

Poised on her toes and ready to try dynamically leaping out of the way he lunges instead right into her face, her face already illuminated by the indigo-blue light he is thusting toward her, she still steps aside as best she can. Never giving up in her attempt to escape!

The Sphere smashes into her body, drilling into her repeatedly before launching her backward, streaking across the arena inerrantly, right at and into the cameraman with force enough he is sent sprawling at the same time the camera lens itself smashes into the back of her head. The cameras bounces; the pictures across the school turns to near indecipherable garbage with just a view of the raised tiled lip around the rooftop.

Hitomi is still standing, No longer has a jacket to speak of, the bandages handing around her arms fall in loops to the ground and even the shirt is in part immolated, a significant portion over her abdomen completely gone, though her bare skin beneath appears unharmed.

The blow against the cameraman alters the direction she staggers, two further steps and she is right at the lip of the roof; her heel striking against the lip with some force and bringing her to a swaying halt.

The judge raises a hand and calls for her to be careful and come away from there; despite the warning a split-second later she slumps backwards as all her strength bleeds away, and that's a two story drop!

With a close up view of her falling spectators the school over scream and yell in fright as a fellow student falls starts to fall, some yell for her to recover, while others cover their mouth or eyes as she pitches over the edge.

COMBATSYS: Hitomi takes no action.

Kensou stands there, the aftermath of the energy crackling across his arms.

There is no light on his face. An arrogant smirk, a cast of shadow over his eyes. He had won for Justice High. He had earned his victory. With a sweep of his hands, his stance fades. And there, he just bounds silently towards the edge of the building. Of course the judge just called it for him. Nothing less would do for Justice High. Right now this wasn't to win, though. This was to savior his victory. To drive it home to all of those from Taiyo High that was watching.

That Justice High was the superior school.

He looks down at Hitomi, as she falls, and lashes out an hand to grab her arm. He falls on his belly, holding on to her for her life. He had saved her... right? That was the impression the people down below might get. But Hitomi, should she revive, would get a first-hand look at what was Kensou's expression.

Nothing on Kensou's body shows he is here to help.

He lays there, looking at Hitomi as she holds there to dear life. That same, terrible smirk was on his face, as he just playfully swings her from side to side. "I would never put anything above Justice High. I would die for it, if need be." He tilts his head to the side, that strange, terrible look still across his face. "I wonder if you would be willing to do the same..." Kensou, for a brief moment, considers letting her fall. After all, she lost. She was not worthy. She...

Kensou suddenly has a vision pass over him.

It was a rooftop like this, and a drop like this... but much, much deeper, beyond 2 stories into an abyss. He looks down, at his hands, to the person he was holding. It isn't Hitomi. It is Athena. Looking up at him. 'Please, Kensou' she says, looking at Kensou in the eye. 'Help me. Please...' Were the words coming from her mouth. But Kensou just stares at her, a strange... liberating feeling coming over him. 'Why should I help you?' Is what the dream-like Kensou says, as Athena begins to slip. 'How could you have failed Justice High like that? And after how you treated me... this is what you deserve, Athena. After all..." And Kensou just lets go, sending the girl falling.

"I always wanted you to fall for me."

"NO!" Was the scream on Kensou's lips as the vision fades. Light comes over his face, followed by fear. The shadow was gone, and reality was all around him. "NO! NO! NOOO!" Was the cry as Kensou suddenly struggles to pull her back. Hands stretched, he scrambles his legs, trying to wriggle backwards... before sliding hard foward. It was not Athena. He had let go. It was the girl he had fought, that he had blasted away. Gripping her by the arm, he grunts as he pulls, trying to hard to heave her back up. "Please! One of you!" He cries out to the cameraman, to the judge. "Help me! I don't know if I can..."

Kensou suddenly slides hard, the weight dragging his torso over the edge.

COMBATSYS: Kensou has ended the fight here.

Danging freely and limply from Kensous grip the girl just swings back and forth under the momentum imparted to her, she's momentarily unconscious though shows signs of life or responding when Kensou begins to speaks to her. She haltingly lifts her head to look at her, still dazed and absent she stares up at him blankly. The boy who had been hefting the camera up until now throws himself right down alongside Kensou and reaches down for her yelling something indistinct and distant she can't make out, she does focus on an insistently waved hand towards her while there is a curious yet fierce pain in her wrist, an odd feeling of weightlessness.

She gradually lifts her arm slowly to take his hand and likewise it starts to ache but he sizes hold of it and starts pulling her up. Appearing over the lip an inch at a time the girls is levered up between the strength of the both young men. The judge watching appears just flustered at being useless in this situation and students are talking about it all over the school. That Kensou guy was pretty good. Not only did he defeat his opponent but he also saved her!

Dragged up and into the arms of the fellow Taiyo students Hitomi continues to drape over him rather powerlessly she sits up more under power of him sitting up with her leaning heavily against him than under her own power.

As she turns to face Kensou the dazed look abruptly vanishes as she buries her head in the chest of her fellow student, scary! -- So scary. She's so terrified she can't stop trembling, but rather than thanking the boy who saved her she cowers in the arms of a fellow student.

Well, that's kind of understandable! Kensou wasn't to blame but he did nearly blow her off a rooftop. After all, there's applause for his actions saving Hitomi. Massive Relief in everyone on the rooftop but for two persons most involved.

The fight -- it had hurt, she was in a great deal of pain. But that face, had he been going to kill her, deliberately cast her down? Was he just.. Wanting to see the look on her face? It wasn't good, her returning faculties dig her deeper and deeper into the pit of horrors and a petrified state. It froze her soul to be looked down on like that; even in her weakened and addled state she intuitively recognized the darkness there.

It terrified her beyond belief.

That was a dark place to be.

Kensou struggles, holding Hitomi in place now, as he holds her body weight by using his legs on the edge. His stalemate with gravity would not hold. But Kensou was fighting so hard now, to keep her from falling.

He would do the same for Athena.

He would, is what he tells himself. He buries the good feelings. He would explore them later. But right now, he had to save her. As the other students come to help, he finally gets heaved up alongside her. He would have talked to her. He would have comforted her. But the emotions, the waves of emotions that pour off her even stun Kensou. He knew that emotion. As she huddles in the arms of her students, Kensou's face drops, his eyes turning glassy as he backs up.

He could sense her fear.

Kensou walks away, his back turned on the Taiyo High students. He ignores the cheers, the thanks. If his body wasn't burning from pain, he would have run. But he had to get away. Her fear was consuming him now, overwhelming him. He had to leave all of this for now. He had won this all for Justice High, that much was certain. He should be proud, as he was just moments ago. But Kensou couldn't, because of Hitomi. He could feel her fear. It was enveloping him. And at his core, he knew why she was afraid. Because she could see something that Kensou couldn't.

And whatever she saw, scared Kensou too.
