Description: What better way to enrich the lives of impressionable youth than with a CAREER DAY EXPO. Playing host to this wonderful event is world-famous Taiyo High, who has contracted Saturday Night Fight to make this the most EXCELLENT career day EVER. What does this mean for students AND fighting fans across the world? Why, it means they get to see Commander Heidern face off against ex-Interpol vigilante Chun-Li at the center of this city-wide event. And, playing MC to this SPECTACULAR meeting of CAREER FORCES is none other than the Burning Phys-Ed teacher of Taiyo himself, Hayato Nekketsu, who will not only host the event, but make things difficult for the Ikari and Chun-Li. (Winner: Heidern)
Career Day. An excellent opportunity for the youth to get a brief glimpse of what their life might be once they enter the workforce. Of course, many of the students at Taiyo still have years to go before that day, but it still presents an opportunity for them to learn, and perhaps to decide on just what they want to focus on in their future studies. And there are many different possibilities to choose from, as the Taiyo Dome is large enough to play host to a huge number of booths, even taking into account the roped off area in the center of the dome.
High school and college students from all about the area swarm the arena, along with reporters, teachers, and the occasional parent. But as time goes on the booths seem to be drawing less and less interest, as people start trying to get good positions along the edge of the roped off section. There'll be more to do afterwards, of course, but for now nobody wants to miss out on the Saturday Night Fight scheduled to take place here.
And, humming quietly to himself, a red clad gym teacher begins casually making his way through the crowd, tapping a shinai against his shoulder in time with the tune. A murmur spreads out through the crowd as he passes through, providing confirmation that it will soon be time for the festivities to begin.
Meanwhile:
"No," Commander Heidern of the Ikari Warriors firmly states to a group of young men around him.
"We're not recruiting. I've told you this ten times now."
"But this is a career fair!" one young man counters, his expression annoyed as he stares the old Ikari down. "Doesn't that mean that like, people here are hiring or something? I want to enlist with the Ikari!"
Lifting a gloved hand to his forehead, Heidern gingerly pinches the bridge of his nose, a long breath drawn in before he simply holds it. A moment after, Heidern slowly and patiently exhales. The gaggle of young men glare on, one tapping his foot and complaining about glaciers responding faster.
"Look just go away," is ultimately the Ikari CO's response, "I'm not here to discuss this shit with children."
"But we're grown men! We want to join the Ikari and shoot guns and--!"
Seconds before he can finish his thoughts, the young man finds himself flying through the air--and into a Wal-Mart career fair booth set up. Heidern simply dusts his hands and begins to walk away, toward the general area set aside for the SNF match with a surly expression on his weathered face.
Career Day!
SOME TIME AGO
"Chun-Li, I need you to do something for me," Guile says, casually lifting a couple paint cans in each hand, following a stern rhythm as his biceps flex and make the American flags inked on them ripple.
Chun-Li tilts her head gently. "Of course, Guile," she replies, her tone polite and deferential. "What do you need?"
Guile grunts as he drops the paint cans. They fall over and clatter, and one spills to reveal it was actually full of good old fashioned American chocolate milk. "I need you to go to the Taiyo High Career Day for me -- man the U.S. Air Force recruitment booth."
Chun-Li frowns, but only vaguely: "But -- I have a fight that night--"
Guile gives his comrade a piercing look as he steps forward. "Chun-Li, it's important that these young people get all the opportunities they can to work toward a better life for themselves."
Chun-Li seems unconvinced, adopting a confused expression, "But -- aren't... they all Japanese? How could they even be recruited--?"
Guile puts on his Top Gun aviators and says, "It means a lot to me, Chun-Li. Besides, who bought you that hot dog?"
Chun-Li glances down at the hot dog, half-eaten, in her hand. "--d-don't get me wrong, Guile, I'm certainly grateful! There's nowhere to keep a wallet in this..."
Guile stares at Chun-Li through the sunglasses, his frown a thin line. The silence continues for several long seconds.
Chun-Li suddenly sputters, "I'm not keeping it /there/!"
NOW
Chun-Li looks tired. Manning the Air Force booth took a lot out of her, mostly because she was there with her laptop and satellite aircard looking on Bing for answers to the questions kids were asking, most frequently 'how is this even legal in Japan?' She also used Bing to find a blouse on decent markdown during some downtime. It's not a search engine. It's a decision engine.
Walking toward the fighting zone, Chun-Li stretches her arms, feeling less than limber after spending most of the day on a metal folding chair. "Ah! Heidern!" she says, offering a cheerful wave and then a respectful bow. "I hope this fight is both entertaining to the children -- and informative, of the discipline and work ethic that martial arts can bring to any career!"
The military and law enforcement are both career paths that Hayato approves of, so he's got no objections there. Of course, both Heidern and Chun-Li have lives that it would probably best for kids not to try to emulate. Ah well, call it a draw. Hayato hops over the rope to the center area of the arena, and waves to one of the SNF staffers who then tosses him a microphone. He holds it up to his mouth, and there's a horrible squeal of feedback. He then holds it a little further from his mouth and tries again. "Hello everyone! I hope you are all enjoying our career day here. Planning for future employment is an important part of growing up, and I'm happy to see so many students taking it seriously. Both of our guests tonight know the value of hard work, and have put a great deal of effort into reaching the heights they're at today, so let's give them all a big round of applause."
Hayato pauses for a moment for the applause, then continues, "But remember... youth is also a time to be enjoyed. So sit back for a bit and have fun watching this fight!" And then he tosses the microphone over his shoulder, causing the SNF staffer to scramble in an attempt to grab it before it can smack into the ground.
Standing just at the outside of the roped off area for the SNF match, Heidern's one, blue eye just surveys the gathering people with a look that's best described as 'impassive.' Scowling faintly, the old soldier just bides his time, pausing only to watch as Hayato ambles forward with a mic in hand. It's safe to presume, then, that they will be starting soon.
A cheerful voice catches the man's attention, and turning his head he regards Chun-Li with a vague smile on his lips. Rather than bow, the Ikari CO offers a stiff salute to the woman before he exhales. "We can only hope," he offers, his blue eye shifting toward the crowds once more. "I get the feeling though they're only here for the entertainment, rather than the educational value or worth."
Shrugging, the man regards Chun-Li with another faint grin as he offers, "Good luck, young lady." Only then does the solider slide into a stiff-looking idle stance.
"Perhaps," Chun-Li says, responding to the point about the kids' motives, "but I can only hope that through my example, these children are inspired to do something positive with their time."
SOME TIME AGO, AGAIN
Chun-Li walks out of the bodega -- what one is doing in Tokyo, no one's really sure -- with a paper bag full of groceries. Her car (a rental) has 'GEDO RULES' and some swear words spray-painted on it. She drops the grocery bag in shock. Fruit and vegetables spill onto the sidewalk.
NOW
Shaking her head gently to ward off a sudden frown at some memory or another, Chun-Li instead turns her attention to Hayato. "Thank you, Mr. Nekketsu!" she calls to him, offering another gracious bow. And then, to Heidern: "And good luck to you as well! I feel it's important to instill within these youths respect for their elders -- so come at me with your best shot, Heidern! I want to see what you can do!"
The World's Strongest Woman shifts her body into a defensive stance -- but one ready for combat nonetheless.

Hayato thrusts his shinai skywards, by way of giving a signal to start. "Okay you two, let's give these folks a good show. And remember that this is an educational, family event." He glances briefly at Heidern. Yes, Hayato has seen some of Heidern's fights. He has the impression that the Ikari leader isn't a bad guy, but perhaps actually /impaling/ people on a hand isn't appropriate for this venue. "And remember to watch your backs." The teacher grins, letting his shinai rest against his shoulder again as he settles back to watch the fight... and wait.
"Affirmative," is Heidern's response to the master of ceremonies present, his one good eye falling briefly upon Hayato as he settles in and otherwise plays passive--for now. He's their striker, which means when and if needed, he'll be called upon. Really, part of that doesn't set well with the old Ikari. But these are SNF rules...
Looking to the Chinese woman, he offers her a slight nod. "Very well. I expect you to come at me with the best you've got as well. If not, I will be sorely disappointed, young lady." If it's some kind of friendly joke or chiding or not, it's difficult to discern, what with the bland expression that hangs upon the soldier's face.
Chun-Li eases into stance. Discreetly, Heidern's brows lift upon his forehead. He knows that she's not the World's Strongest Woman for no reason whatsoever, which means he should play it safe. A thin line draws over his face, as his one eye narrows.
And then he moves! Lunging forward with speed that likely belies his outward age, the Ikari zeroes in on Chun-Li and, with a sudden thrust of his leg, attempts to drive his booted heel into her stomach.

"Hah!" Chun-Li cries, sharply vocalizing the quick thrust of her movement. As Heidern's heel comes up, Chun-Li's hands snap down, reflexively moving to ward off the blow in case she's not quick enough to evade it. As it turns out, she is -- the Chinese fighter spins, gracefully putting herself out of harm's way.
"Impressive!" Chun-Li says, mid-twirl. "I could feel the breeze coming off of it!" It's notable that there's, like, barely any air flow in here.
Just because she's chatty doesn't mean Chun-Li is moving slowly, though. Far from it. As her spin to safety ends and she orients herself toward the cycloptic Ikari, Chun-Li leans her upper body back -- to thrust it forward, a single palm heading for Heidern's kidney. Hopefully he does not only have one of those as well. "CHO!"

She's strong--and fast, too.
With a spin the young woman eases out of harm's way, avoiding the strike before she calls out to the Ikari. Discreet is the furrow of his aged brow, dry lips pulling into a line before he simply exhales through his nostrils. "Thanks, young lady," he replies flatly, observing as she comes to a stop. Seconds later, she's flinging her palm right for his kidney.
Dropping his arm, the old Ikari intercepts the blow with his forearm.
"Is it true," the solider wonders briefly, withdrawing his arm. "That you were manning a booth for the United States Air Force here?" Drawing both arms back behind him, he summarily whips them forwards, crossing them midflight in an x-shape--and launches a similarly shaped swatch of pale blue chi sailing for Chun-Li.
"How does that even work?"

It's not really clear what hits Chun-Li harder -- Heidern asking about the Air Force gig, or Heidern Cross-Cuttering her ass-over-elbows. Both are really parts of a whole, though: Chun-Li's fluid motion comes to an abrupt halt when Heidern asks, and she's about to stammer a response when Heidern's blue bolt blasts her right in the chest. She flies off of her feet, landing on her back with a loud 'THOCK' that just sounds painful any way it's sliced.
Tumbling over her shoulder onto one knee, Chun-Li straightens one of the brocades covering her oxhorns. Her eyes turn up toward Heidern as she remains kneeling. "Long story," she says, with a little bit of a shrug, and a sweet, understated smile.
While Chun-Li says this, she moves her other leg up, so she's in a squatting position -- and then, the phenomenal strength of her legs is bared to the world, when she pushes off of the ground. Chun-Li's leap is a thing to behold, enough to make Olympic weightlifters weep, and it takes her clear /over/ Heidern's head. She spins in mid-air, and both feet soar out toward Heidern's skull, aiming to kick off of it and flip to the ground.
Mid-kick, Chun-Li calls: "Mr. Nekketsu--?" And that's his cue, it would seem.
It looks like Hayato is just casually watching the fight, but a more careful observation would show that he is in fact ready to spring into motion at any time. Like right now. As Chun-Li calls out Hayato lunges forth, not actually taking time to /think/ about what he's going to do. When he realizes that Chun-Li is going to go over Heidern he's got to think quickly about what to do so that she won't just land on top of him. And so he ducks low but continues running, aiming to crash into the base of Heidern's spine with a stiffly held arm, adding even more force in the same direction as Chun-Li's kick to the back of his skull.

Perhaps, locked far beneath that icy and seemingly impassive exterior with which the Ikari Warrior holds himself, he feels a little sorry for sending the woman falling back with a painful thud. Slowly, his one good eye shifts to the crowds around them, lips pulled into a thin line. A few people look mildly offended that he'd do such a thing to the noble and gentle Chun-Li. What a /jerk/.
Glancing back to Chun-Li as she gets up and replies, he offers a faint smirk. "Very well," is his reply.
Poised to spring while, in tandem, calling out to the appointed striker for the match, Heidern realizes that, pretty soon, he'll have to deal with multiple opponents. Hooding his blue eye, the Ikari keeps watch on the movements of Chun-Li before he turns his eye over his shoulder.
When both close in, the Ikari reacts in a sudden lurch of movement. Side-stepping Hayato and then stepping back, he keeps himself in line with the World's Strongest Woman. Ducking low, he shoots up with one arm, swinging it in a fierce, circular motion even as her booted feet crash into his face, the cutting motion laced with bluish-white energies that could very well sever a lesser being. Chun-Li is, however, made of far more tougher stuff.
Either way, once he makes his move a hand reaches up, pressing against his now-bleeding and busted up nose with a gloved hand.
Chun-Li was not particularly counting on being launched /further/ into the air, but that's hubris for you. Heidern's titanic slash of energy vaults her back up like a volleyball, sending her past the designated fighting zone and into a job-fair booth advertising a career selling one's blood.
After a long moment, Chun-Li picks herself up and dusts herself off -- a few scratches and a worrying run in her tights, not to mention the feeling of just having been dropped from a great height -- she'll live, and so she fights on. First, though, she glances at the sign telling kids they can make money selling blood, and frowns deeply. "Is there... even a screening process here...?" she asks herself quietly, before turning to face Heidern.
"You came at me with your best, like I asked, Heidern," Chun-Li calls as she walks back toward the arena area, bowing again before setting foot within. "And now I'll do the same -- I owe you no less!" She leaps into the air again, toward Heidern -- and suddenly flips upside down, her muscular legs whipping into a perfect split as she spins herself like a human tornado -- the famous Spinning Bird Kick!

Giving his nose a cautious push, Heidern surmises that it may very well be broken, but it's nothing a little shove and pinch can't fix. Which is precisely what the old Ikari does with a quiet but wet snap, even as Chun-Li gracefully soars...and lands into a career booth. Heidern, meanwhile, tries to clean up what blood remains while trying not to shed tears of /pain/. (Ikari have an image to maintain, after all.)
When the woman speaks, Heidern's cycloptic gaze falls back upon her as she approaches. Quietly he observes, offering no response--because seconds after she speaks she leaps and inverts, legs kicking about like some kind of humanoid helicopter right at him. His response? To keep from getting hit by those god-awfully strong legs.
Snapping his arms up and folding them, those powerful legs whip into the man's forearms, the blow absorbed for the most part before he leaps back several feet. When he lands, his numb arms drop to his sides.
"As gravity-defying as ever," he observes as a booted foot slides back, his stance spreading. "Impressive as always, too. You hit as hard as your reputation leads me to believe." Around him, an odd red haze begins to crawl along his lanky body, energies swelling and pooling.
"Nekketsu," he practically orders, sparing a glance toward the Taiyo Phys-Ed teacher.

Hayato 2|<<<<<<<|<<<<<<<
Well, it wouldn't be the first time Hayato has been given orders by a military man. And Heidern almost certainly outranks him, so it's no big deal. Hitting Chun-Li, on the other hand, might be. She's known to be fast on her feet. But after missing with his charge against Heidern, Hayato has been circling the other two fighters, trying his best to flank them both at the same time. This... is somewhat difficult, but it does mean he's close by. And he doesn't wait for Heidern's glance, he was already moving at the first few syllables of his name.
And Hayato's line of thinking is thus: Chun-Li is quite fast on her feet. If she gets the chance, she'll probably be able to dance around him, even if he goes for the quickest strikes he possibly can. So wouldn't it be better to just try to blindside her with a full power blow? Of course! There's no way that could fail! And so Hayato brings his arm around in a full body swing as he closes in on Chun-Li, aiming to drive his shinai up under the base of her ribcage from the side.

"Excuse me!" Chun-Li chirps as she lunges out to grab at Hayato's shoulder -- by the time his swing is complete, she's vaulted herself up and over, rolling down his back like water off of a duck's. She lands in a crouch behind him, and can't help but chuckle good-naturedly. "I appreciate that you're taking this seriously, though -- that one would've really hurt!"
On to the more important matter at hand: Heidern. Observing the strange phenomenon that he seems to be surrounding himself with, Chun-Li makes a slight face. She doesn't comment, but she does stay sharp -- one never knows what sort of strange witchery one may face in the course of fighting 'round the world. "Thank you for your kind words, Heidern! Two fighters, respecting each other's skills while not holding back -- would that the kids of the world could see more fights like this one, if I may sound a bit arrogant!"
Chun-Li's arrogance is then converted into pure chi, that it may be expelled and put to better use than bragging. A blue sphere blooms between her palms, and she stamps one foot forward, the sound of impact also marking the launch of the projectile: "KIKOUKEN!"

While his weathered face does not show it, there's a bit of surprise when Chun-Li uses the Phys-Ed teacher as a means of vaulting her body over and out of harm's way. His brows furrow slightly, the odd hazy red aura around the man swelling a bit. He doesn't expect the woman to stand idly by and simply passive off against him.
"Perhaps," is his simple response, his expression unchanging. Truthfully, he doesn't think this fight will make much of a difference in the majority of kids watching them, but then again, Chun-Li is a notoriously maternal optimist. It's a fact.
Surprised when she suddenly lobs a sphere of pure chi from her palms, Heidern replies by snapping a hand forward, his long, lanky arm sheathed in that odd red energy. The sphere, in turn, severs in half, energies dispersed by the energy he utilizes in the sharp motion. "It's good that there's someone as influential as you compassionate for the youth of the world," Heidern idly compliments.
Dashing into action, Heidern closes in on the Chinese woman, drawing a leg up high, clearing her height altogether, before he sharply drops his knee down upon her skull, followed by the top of his booted foot.

Chun-Li's skull is especially thick -- or so Heidern may notice as he brutalizes it. Perhaps it's that certain density that allows her to so doggedly pursue her goals. Perhaps it just makes her harder to concuss. Or maybe it's just a coincidence. Either way, Chun-Li eats knee and foot in short order, her head spiked toward the ground like a football that's just made it into the endzone. Her face /WHACKS/ off the ground loudly, and it's perhaps to Chun-Li's credit that she manages to turn her head, to avoid cartilage being launched into her brain like a bullet -- as it is, the purple bruise of a budding black eye is already forming.
Pushing herself back to her feet, Chun-Li cracks her kneck and rolls her shoulders. "Thank you," she says, a little blood running from one side of her mouth as she speaks -- she bit the inside of her cheek on impact. The moment of gratitude is fleeting, and quickly erupts into violence -- as Chun-Li's arms soar out, attempting to reach up and grab Heidern by the neck that her powerful leg may send its knee directly into his sternum, followed by a brutal and swift kick to the face.

Withdrawing as soon as the woman is struck and hits the ground, Heidern paces back with a distantly cautious eye, long arms raised from his sides defensively. While she has taken her share of blows, the Ikari presumes that it's only just that much more encouragement to push herself that much more and try to overcome his defenses.
Frowning vaguely as she rises to her feet, the man tips his head as she offers her thanks. "None necessary, young lady," Heidern replies, sounding vaguely sincere about it. Really; she doesn't need to say thanks. It's the truth, isn't it?
And then violence.
When Chun-Li draws in and grabs at his throat, Heidern's arm snaps up and shoves it away while, at the same time, drawing his arm back. Though her knee strikes his sternum HARD he doesn't budge, instead gasping in pain. Even when her kick slams into his face and draws blood from his lips, the Ikari holds his ground like a stubborn goat--because he has a plan.
And that plan is to swing his arm up and send a cascade of pure bluish-white energy roaring into the Chinese woman like a runaway freight train, pillars of pure energy seven feet tall rushing at her, exploding from the ground one after another with blinding speed.
The columns of light crash into Chun-Li like an interstate pileup, although the results are noticeably uglier. "Wh--" is all she's able to get out before zero moment, the force of Heidern's colossal strike enough to knock her into the air once more -- then again, and again, battering the World's Strongest Woman without mercy.
World's Strongest or no, Chun-Li hits the ground like a ragdoll, limbs flailing, qipao hissing as it actually /smokes/ from contact with the energy. "Mister... Nekketsu..." she groans from the ground, trying to pick up the pieces of herself and assess whether or not she'll walk again.

Carefully observing the woman's plight in the aftermath of his vicious counterstrike, Heidern admittedly feels a touch guilty about it. She looks like she's endured a lot more pain than necessary, despite him actually attempting to hold back on going all-out against a woman in the middle of a school career fair. At least he hasn't stabbed her with HIS HAND yet.
Soon enough she struggles to get back onto her feet while calling to Hayato to assist. Frowning slightly, his attentions shift entirely from the woman to Hayato as he charges and leaps, shinai raised. When it snaps down, Heidern snaps his arms up and takes the blow on his arms, rather than being pegged into the ground and beaten repeatedly. Afterwards the man withdraws, giving his arms a ginger shaking out.
But the fight isn't over. Wordlessly the Ikari moves, dashing forward with a grim expression. He'll zero in and, turning on his heel and taking a half-turned stance, snap his arm out and attempt to slam the back of a knifehand into her abdomen.

Heidern may not have stabbed Chun-Li with his hand yet, but he's certainly slashed her with it -- as she stands, attempting to use the fluidity of tai chi to flow with the tide of his attack, it suddenly occurs to her that everything feels like it's moving in slow motion and her blood appears to have been replaced by particularly settled molasses. It's right as Chun-Li realizes she must have a concussion that Heidern hits, and the blow is savage enough to rip open the stomach of her qipao, slashing her belt in half outright. She blinks, and looks down at the textile injury -- and only then does she realize how much it hurt, crumpling back to the ground with a cry.
"Feel... dizzy," Chun-Li says as EMTs begin to try and advance on her without daring to get in Heidern's way. "We... "And there you have it, folks! Our winner!" Hayato gestures to Heidern with his shinai, and the response is the roaring cheers of the crowd. Not that Hayato's words have much to do with it, since he forgot to get a microphone. Of course, most of them don't care all that much who won, as long as they got to see a fight. But there are a few dedicated fans of both fighters scattered about, expressing their thoughts on the results of the match.
And all the while, Heidern looks on with that same, stern and emotionless look.
Only when the woman literally crumples from the pain does the man stir, silently striding to the fallen woman's side. Quietly he looks her over, determining whether or not he may have very well and somehow KILLED her. Her words of a rematch, however, draw a sigh from the man, an actual grin edging its way softly over his sharp features.
"Focus on recovering, first," Heidern orders of the Chinese fighter. "Then we'll have one."
When the EMTs show up, Heidern steps back and gives them room to work. As Chun-Li is tended to and ultimately carted off, the man turns his attentions onto Hayato before giving the Taiyo teacher a slight nod. "Thank you for your participation," is Heidern's thanks to him before he makes his way toward the SNF official to retrieve his coat and prepare to leave before kids come to harass him about joining the Ikari Warriors again--or beating up on Chun-Li. The very thought makes his expression sour.
