SNF 2009.07 - A Good Cause! Kain vs Brian/Daniel/Jayden/Roland

Description: Brian, Daniel, Jayden and Roland all team up to take on Kain for the sake of charity. Fighting in Southtown Park, the two sides battle for money that SNF has promised to donate to the reconstruction efforts in Southtown. An effort bolstered by Kain's announcement of a matching donation. In the end, it's the people of Southtown who really win! (Winners: Brian/Daniel/Jayden/Roland)

The battle for Southtown will certainly go down in history as one of the greatest civil disorders in Japanese history. The battle over control of the metropolis cost billions in dollars in property damage and lost productivity, and the cost in human casualties is immeasurable. Well, not immeasurable, but it certainly was bad. The death toll, albeit minimal, was still heavier than acceptable standards and the number of severe injuries kept emergency personnel very, very busy. In fact, as the city has begun to settle down, many hospitals find themselves treating their own emergency room staff for various illnesses relating to malnutrition, exhaustion, prescription drug abuse, stress, physical strain and STDs (don't ask).

It might seem strange to some that those so heavily involved in the destruction of the city would be called upon to help the rebuilding efforts, but that is exactly what is happening here today. Nonstandard bleachers have been fashioned around the park using the building materials and equipment around the construction site in the outskirts of the metro's largest natural resource, Southtown Park. The ruins of a toppled low income housing project have been carted away, and a new set of high-end condos are being built in their stead. It must lift the spirits of all those displaced to know that high society will continue on, despite the hardships involved.

It might even bring a tear to one's eye.

But tonight, the cause is still just. To the rebuiling efforts of actual PUBLIC use, $200,000 is guaranteed, as $50,000 rests on the heads of the four lesser-known combatants who have been asked to face the star of this event. The star himself, Kain R. Heinlein, has a $250,000 bounty on his consciousness, should the four prevail. Is Mr. Heinlein's pride worth $50,000? Who knows. Well, maybe one man knows. Because, in the end, his pride is certainly worth that much, though maybe not tonight.

Normally, the Texan known as Brian Battler would tower over most everyone here. Standing lover even feet tall helps you look down on most people, and in a short country like Japan, he might as well stick a radio tower off his cowboy hat. Some people have taken to using him as a landmark or a range finder on crowded streets. But today isn't a normal day. No, today marks Mr. Battler's first appearance since the initial assaults on Southtown began, where he was acting exceptionally odd during an encounter with his former teammate Heavy D!. His portion of the battle ended rather abruptly, thanks to a flying black helicopter with the Shadaloo insignia dropping a massive chain with an equally massive hook on the end down and plunging it into his back at velocity. What little photographic and video documentation of the event has shown is that, by all accounts, Mr. Battler should be a corpse. But he is here, though he looks like it took a lot out of him. Maybe it's the walker, or maybe it's the private medical staff who are forcing the former linebacker to put on some of his former gear to protect his body from trauma around his rather significant injury. Or maybe it's that he's currently sitting in a wheelchair made for people around 5'5" while his staff fret over details.

In any case, Brian Battler is here, getting ready to fight while bulking up with additional padding. Like the obelisk of meat really needed to look larger.

Kain has been quite a busy man lately. After providing the evidence linking Geese to the Southtown Syndicate and participating in the raid on Geese Tower, he's been spending a great deal of time with the authorities, providing them with information that has proven quite useful in dismantling Syndicate operations and rooting out some of the corrupt officials that made everything work so smoothly. He's also been in the public eye praising the workers who are helping to rebuild Southtown, and offering logistical and financial assistance. It's quite a change for a man whose prior public appearances were largely limited to participation in fighting tournaments and SNF, and it certainly seems to be helping his popularity. People have been wondering when he'd make an appearance on the new SNF, and it seems the time has come.
When he arrives Kain waves off some reporters attempting to question him, but rather than heading toward the area set aside for the fight he makes his way to the field office for the SNF crew, then has a discussion of some sort with a few of the staffers there. The talk is brief, then a staffer nods and Kain walks over to their audio equipment and picks up a microphone. There's a buzz as the sound system turns on, and then Kain's voice calls out over the loudspeakers. "Hello SNF viewers, and especially the people of Southtown. We have all suffered here, but it is wonderful to see the strength of our community as we work to rebuild that which has been destroyed. And I'm personally very grateful to Ken Masters and his Saturday Night Fight program for the generous charitable contribution being made tonight. In fact, it's so moving that I resolve to match tonight's donations with my own funds, all for the betterment of the people of Southtown. Whether I win or lose here, it's the people of Southtown that will really win tonight. Thank you all, and enjoy the show."
The blond man flashes a smile, then hands the microphone over to one of the staff assistants. He then steps on a low wall, part of the length of which is currently being rebuilt, vaulting off of it to smoothly leap over the temporary barricades set up to cordon off an area for the fighters to do their thing. An area chosen for the fact that the rebuilding effort hasn't started yet, and most of what's in it is probably going to have to be taken down anyway. Like the half-demolished gazebo that sits forlornly in the center.

"What? Charity? What the hell. Listen, I beat up that 'Cross'... whatever she is, I don't care. I just better get some pay at the end of th' day. Okay? Or I'm gonna come back an' find you, 'cause -you- gon' owe me." Charity. The hell.

Jayden isn't looking forward to this. Even with four people, fighting Kain R. Heinlein, a fighter who is damned near legendary in his ability to burn people alive. Okay, so it's an exaggeration--but not by much. But, figures the ex-soldier, this is what happens when you sign up for an event like SNF--you don't know what you're getting into.

Brian's entrance--wheelchair and staff, fussing, padding--earns a raised eyebrow from the Cajun. Perhaps not as well-recognized but still a familiar name, though Jayden wasn't in Southtown at the time of Mr. Battler's supposed demise.

The city. It's still recovering... but Jayden thinks it'll do just fine, really, once all is said and done. Of course, he could just not be caring about how the city does, because it's just a place, as far as he's concerned. The fight, the work, that's what concerns him. Perhaps he's not so different from Brian in some respects... but he doesn't know that.

Instead, the jacket and jeans-clad man walks up, alongside Brian--and Brian is huge, even in that little wheelchair. Especially in that little wheelchair. He shakes his head, a myriad of words flying through his head--and he chooses none of the ones that could cause problems. No reason to, not yet.

"Be interestin', mm?" he says, finally, half to himself, unslouching and beginning to stretch his arms and legs, squeezing his hands into fists repeatedly. The area's still pretty blasted, but he's really just looking for opportunities--things to use and abuse.

All Roland wanted was some extra money. When he found out who he was going to fight against, the first thing he thought was how to get out of it. But when he saw the paycheck, his determination wavered. Just how many times would he have to be blown up by hellfire to cash it? Two times? Three? This is not the delusions of one afraid of the upper tiers, as this particular scallywag has survived pissing off Lord Vega himself. ...somewhat. Not particularly an occasion that bears repeating. In the end, the deciding factor was that Daniel is coming also. Seeing Daniel get murdered might be worth the risk alone. He'll laugh at the charred husk of his body.
He rather subtly arrives and settles himself opposite, trying to mingle and make himself seem someone lowly and unworthy of squashing. The normal competency he wears is lost, allowing fear to leech out to a rather disgusting level. A moment is taken to slither near Brian however, and then give a hard kick to the wheel of his chair. "Get the hell up! You've milked the injury act long enough!" is hissed. He was counting on Brian being a large target, and the fact he might be trying to battle for the betterment of the city...?! Does not parse!
Where the hell is Daniel anyway? He's not smart enough to skip out on a fight like this!

Like Roland was perceptive enough to recognize if Daniel Jack was charred.

The detective stood by the medical crew, eyeing the somewhat weak-looking Brian Battler. Daniel Jack sizzled a cigarette in his mouth, inhaling the refreshing toxins as he recalled the details of the match. He was going to fight the one Kain R. Heinlein with a four-man team of pure America. Jayden representing the south as a member of the Big Easy, Roland "Woody" Brown taking care of the west with his Vegas Strip credentials, Daniel Jack himself holding up the Midwest with his deep-rooted Nebraska heritage, and of course, ex-football star Brian Battler holding up Texas, which according to the NFL, is of course the East. All for charity. Oh, and a paycheck too. Daniel needed to restock his apartment, as well as his wardrobe.

Daniel Jack glanced, inspecting the former star with intense, judging eyes. Unlike the others, he seemed like he went native, turning Japanese in the non-traditional sense. Garbed in his Todoh-Ryuu uniform, he took one last drag off his cigarette, and tossed it to the ground. "Shut your trap, Woody. You are gabbing off to the best damned defense in the mainland United States. Now latch the match, slacker, and take your normal parting shots your ego needs, dig it?"

Without a further word, Daniel Jack stepped forward, shoving himself over the barricade and off towards the gazebo. Well, what was left of it. He remembered his last fight with Kain. He remember how fun it was being burned. It wasn't. But cowardice was a forgotten memory for the detective. With a hard-boiled grit, he was going to lead this full-on patriotic legacy right on to the Japanese master of chi. All for the greatest legacy of the United States, what each of the members represented.

Opportunity.

Slowly, steely and with dedicated precision only a man who has made 400+lb linemen shit their pants can manage, Brian turns his eyes to Roland. "Watch your mouth, son," he drawls, voice laboring through tight compression vestments, "or you may find the chief over there isn't the only one gunning for you." Shaking his head wearily, he leans forward with a grunt, grabbing the walker and using it to heft himself onto his feet. The wheelchair refuses to budge, the wheels bent inwards from the large man's mass. The walker itself seems to be a little worse for wear, having been used in a similar manner several dozen times already. It wasn't built for men the size of city buses. It was built for old women who weigh about as much as an iPod shuffle. Once on his feet, he nods to Jayden while Daniel speaks up.

Oho. Recognition.

"Despite all those years at Dallas, the Pro Bowls and the Defensive MVP award every year..." he pauses, slowly turning himself towards Daniel, "...I've yet to meet anyone in the fighting arena who knows who the hell I am outside of it. We'll talk later."

And with that, the Texan turns again, this time towards Kain. "Guess we should get this over with."

Slipping his left hand into his pocket, Kain holds out his right hand as he flexes his fingers and causes his knuckles to pop. He looks Brian over briefly, trying to judge just how badly injured the man is... it wouldn't do to hurt somebody too seriously at a match like this, and somebody who's already injured can be susceptible to getting even more injured. "Try to be more enthusiastic. It's for a good cause. But you're right, I believe everybody is waiting for us to begin."
As he finishes speaking Kain flashes Brian a brief smile, then suddenly charges in toward him, blurring across the ground. But then at the least moment he veers off to the side just a bit, and it seems that now his trajectory is taking him toward Jayden. The trick is all in the movement, not the blow itself. For that Kain simply surrounds his right fist in glowing blue chi as he attempts to ram a punch right into the dead center of Jayden's chest.

COMBATSYS: Jayden blocks Kain's Fierce Punch.

Roland's special. He can tell that already. Jayden's lips quirk into a little grin--appreciating Roland's boldness, or maybe just anticipating some fun because of his insensitivity. He'll enjoy either. For now, however, it seems like Brian's up and around, and everyone's assembled--time to get the show on the road.

Kain thinks so, too--he gives a little speech and that's just about the only warning Jayden gets before he's going to have to defend himself. Fortunately, it is just enough warning--Jayden spits out a word that gets bleeped out, thanks to the seven-second rule, and he flings his arms up, muscles tensed.

The impact is tremendous, and even with his forearms interposed, Jayden -still- gets bowled over, flipping around in midair as he's taken off his feet, landing in a skidding, low pose. "Look alive, boys," he grunts to his team, as he grimaces, facial muscles twitching with the need to yell in pain. But no. No, he isn't gonna. Finally, he straightens up, taking up a stance that those who've seen Guile fight would recognize.

His gait is rolling, as he walks himself right back over to Kain--well, moving faster than walking, but not quite outright running--and simply looks to tag Kain in the face with a vicious punch sequence, a right hook punch that transitions to a backfist in a single, smooth motion.

Special is rather an understatement where Roland is concerned, but he looks completely unintimidated by Brian. "If that AIN'T an act, then you should shut up. I'm not above kicking someone in the spine." A finger pokes at Brian, before he looks waaaaay up and decides better of it. A hurt giant can still smush someone, after all. Making his way out of backhanding range, Daniel is given a rather significant jeer. "You better make good cannon fodder, Jewels." seems the extent of his offer. Jayden alone is not insulted or otherwise mocked. He looks like he can take a punch, throw a punch, and more importantly is significantly imposing that Kain tries to flaming impact his head off. Good... good... he retreats to the very back of the pack, hunkering down and trying to look small. It's planning time. Now... you could hit Kain in his prodigal genitals... but stabbing him in the eyes might be better... of course, if his back is turned, a stab in the ass might distract him... he has a lot of fighting strategies to crunch right now.

COMBATSYS: Roland focuses on his next action.

Daniel forgot how fast Kain could be. The warriors simply blasts past him, leaving the detective to pivot, locking his gaze on the master fighter. His reactions are too slow, sadly, and Jayden gets one of the nastiest socks any man, woman, or child could bear. Not that Kain would hit a child, or even a true woman. Daniel Jack ignores Roland's parting shot, since he knows his ego needs it. Brian's, however, gets the full brunt of his attention. His gaze locked upon the famous linebacker, he gives a firm nod.

"My honor, scuzzy. My honor."

Picking up speed, Daniel Jack rushes across the field, trying to catch up to Jayden. As the Orleans Screwjob was going for a good old fashioned facial. With Roland playing it smart (for what it was worth, Roland was at least cunning), Daniel would have to round it out in straight-out teamwork. As Jayden hooks it high, the detective ducks it low. Crouching down, he attempts to catch Kain by the crook of his knee. If successful, he would lift up and push forward, knocking the man on his back. From there, he would swing his leg around, and land a powerful heel drop right into the chest of the fight.

And then start really jacking it up.

Brian is used to people running their mouths off before a game or even a fight; hell, he's usually doing it himself. But he knows when to turn it off and when to turn it to eleven. It seems Roland's going to need his jaw forcibly removed by someone's bare hands for him to get that lesson through his skull, given how he's mouthing off to his teammates.

Oh, how he hopes they both are standing after this. Brian's already looking forward to stomping a hole through this guy so large they'll be able to pass Florida through him.

But that's a digression. That may change. Time is mutable. So, apparently, is Jayden's defensive position, as Kain blitzes through the line... though Jayden does manage to block before he gets his chin sacked with flaming fist o' doom. Now, however, comes the sound and the fury as everyone except for Mr. Big Talk over there starts to drop the pain onto Kain. Well, it's not going to be good for him to just sit there. It looks bad on film.

So, Brian just shakes his head and wades into battle. Seeing as Jayden was relatively close prior to impact with Kain's fist, that puts the Texan well within range of Kain himself. One meaty fist swings down like a pendulum, probably aimed for Kain's spine, somewhere around the shoulderblades. It's not a fun place to be hit.

Kain comes to a halt after landing his punch on Jayden, having anticipated that his target would be sent crashing over. But it seems Jayden has exceeded his expectations. "Not bad." Of course, there's not much time for talking. Kain starts sliding backwards as Jayden approaches, but as the Cajun lashes out Kain suddenly senses Daniel coming up on him from behind. Kain quickly sweeps his leg forward to keep Daniel from hooking it, and attempts to follow it up by shifting his weight in a different direction to lean out of the way of Jayden's punch, but his balance just doesn't give him enough time for it. With only one foot firmly planted the force of the backhand is enough to spin Kain right around. But at least this leaves him facing Brian.
Heinlein continues to twist around, bending his arm and bracing his elbow so that his forearm stops the linebacker's fist dead in its tracks. But now even for Kain this situation isn't ideal. He's got fighters surrounding him on three sides, and it's almost certain that if he just stands here somebody is going to be able to find an opening and take advantage of it. But at least there's still one direction for an easy escape. Kain tenses his legs and then leaps into the air, flipping up and over his opponents and toward the one standing off by himself, with no other distracting targets around. As he comes back down Kain thrusts both hands out toward Roland, causing a ball of black flame several feet in diameter to shoot forth. The force is actually enough to change Kain's trajectory slightly, but he easily accounts for it and lands smoothly on his feet.

A good hit by his standards--but a man like Kain isn't going to be fazed by a pair of punches like that. The others come rushing in and it's more like a out and out gang-brawl than an organized fight--and Kain's proving that he's earned every inch of that legendary reputation. The man is amazing, quite simply put.

That said, Jay's still going to do everything he can to beat the unholy hell out of the man, 'cause that's what he was contracted to do--and it's what he loves to do. Jayden shows no overt joy at having landed his hit--it's just too soon in the fight to be ecstatic over anything, not that Jayden ever looks ecstatic about anything.

It's still valuable experience and he's appreciative of that--he might be an amoral, mercenary scumbag but he's a hard working amoral mercenary scumbag. By the time the ex-Forces has recovered, Kain's in the air, launching a terrible ball of force at Roland--Jayden clicks his tongue and shakes his head--then leaps up, attempting to catch Kain in midair with a flying knee straight out of Muay Thai--but he'll attempt to follow up by grabbing Kain by the arm and hurling him back down to the ground, if he gets a chance to.

COMBATSYS: Roland effortlessly blocks Kain's Schwarze Kanone.

Well, Roland has a secondary goal in this fight. To make Daniel look like rubbish in comparison. Jayden continues proving himself as the competent one in the group, although the swarm around Kain doesn't sufficiently distract him; there's suddenly a black ball of flame hurtling towards him, causing a proverbial ! to pop above his head. He splays his fingers, hunkering down as green chi, vaguely similar to fire, blossoms along his sleeves. Driving forward with a grunt, crossing them other each other. The blast of cerulean quakes and struggles, sending him skidding backwards. Although the battle only lasts a moment, where many would break he snarls and pushes forward, barreling through. Blue fire wisps away as he charges onwards, the shark SHINK SHINK of forearm blades heard. "That all?!" he huffhuffs, deciding to not mess around. He'll show Kain his STRONGEST TRUMP CARD.
He begins to spin heavily, lashing out with a few vicious chi-imbued strikes, that threaten to damage his aesthetics if unchecked. Then surging forward, crossing his forearms before himself, to cut him across whatever might be handy. Normally this move is what makes Roland go from laughable to threatening; whether that can hold true for someone beyond the greatest league he can achieve remains to be seen! "BEAT THAT, JEWELS!" is encouraged.

With a graceful sweep, Daniel Jack is denied showing off his BRAND NEW ATTACK. Yes, DANIEL 2009, now better balanced for a new generation. Though, the projectile/counter exploit was fixed, so many of his cheesier users may be jaded by the 'update.' That was moot, now, as the detective's cohorts were well compensating for his lack of connection. Jayden lands true, and Brian was bringing down the storm. And now, Kain was flying off from the three-man melee... to Roland.

"Keep it up, scuzzies, and keep on his flanks!" The student of Todoh snaps, stomping forward to an upright charge. His eyes were burning with a low flame, the spirit of Todoh yet to ignite in full. Still, his offense was not going to hold back. Jayden was showing initiative already with his own flying knee, enough to make Adon proud (I mean Sagat), and Roland was blazing in with his usual brand of loud-mouthed skill. Brian was still recovering a bit, but with the way he was, it might get ugly. With a quick case, the detective figured out a fair approach.

With Jayden and Roland coming in at tandem, Daniel Jack took a more steady approach. Dropping into the classic Todoh-Ryuu Defensive Stance (oddly the same as Aikido stance), he called out to the football star. "Brian! Show him some real defense, Texas style! Break him!" The detective slowed down as he came upon the point where Kain stood, letting Jayden and Roland play out. From there, he would unleash an intricate combination assault, trying to keep Kain occupied long enough for Brian to pile in. He begins with a palm strike with his right, into a hand chop with his right. Unleashing another jabbing palm with his right, he snaps out his leg in a simple straight kick, keeping his hands up and ready for the inevitable counter-attack from one of the most powerful men in the world.

It should come to no great surprise that Kain blocked his attack. It was, after all, halfhearted and lacked the usual "finesse" that Brian puts on things. Finesse being "I'm going to crush your skull". But he usually starts out slow, getting stronger towards the end. First halves are rarely counted, after all. Still, it's kind of a disappointment to not take out a vertebrae, y'know? He likes the feeling of bones twisting against the pressure of his fists. It's fun.

Alas. Turning like a tank Kain slips by, the Texan once again takes a bead just before he gets a little encouragement from this Daniel fellow. If Daniel keeps stroking his ego, Brian may just come to like him. But that's besides the point, eh? Brian has some hurt to try and lay on Kain. Taking a deep breath, gritting his teeth and balling his fists, Brian shivers as he leans forward and starts pumping his legs. At a full sprint in just moments, the giant seems to be in significant pain as he crosses his forearms in front of his face and tries, literally, to run Kain down like he was a damsel tied to the railroad tracks and Brian was the train.

Guess Daniel is the Snidely Whiplash character in this particular incarnation. He does lack the proper handlebar moustache, though. Where's Dudley when you need him?

The trajectory change from his attack against Roland serves Kain well, giving him enough of a push that he's able to twist aside and avoid Jayden as he comes flying in knee-first. And having missed with an attack like that it's going to take a moment before the Cajun can get back in the fight, leaving Kain with just the other three fighters to deal with. Simple, right? There's a flash of blue as Kain suddenly snaps his arm out, sticking it right into Roland's whirling attacking, the chi of the two fighters clashing with explosive force. A few cuts appear in the sleeve of Kain's jacket, but it doesn't appear that it was enough to draw blood.
It is, however, enough to give Daniel the opening he needs. Three quick blows hammer into his side before he can slip out of the way, leaving him vulnerable to the following kick, which manages to drive in just below the ribcage and momentarily stun the blond fighter. Only momentarily, but Brian is already on the move. And once Brian Battler works up some speed it becomes extremely difficult to stop him. Kain gets knocked right off his feet and ends up being taken along for a ride.
But it seems that the last part is intentional. Brian's stance makes for a very solid defense, but it doesn't allow him much control over what happens aside from slamming into someone. And it probably comes as a bit of a surprise when Kain plants his feet and begins slowing down Brian's charge, despite their vast difference in size. And then there's a sudden surge of blue chi running down Kain's body to his legs and he seems to become even harder to move. But that's less important then the fact that suddenly Kain isn't there anymore, having slipped around to approach Brian from behind. The football player has a height advantage to be sure, but it's not enough to keep Kain from being able to reach for his head with both hands. The intention being to grab hold and then yank back hard, followed by an explosion of black flame centered on Brian's skull.

The flying knee misses--but fortunately Jayden doesn't really pay a heavy price for it, as Kain is occupied by Daniel and Roland, and finally Brian. The big bruiser earns the brunt of Kain's focus for the moment and for that, Jay is thankful. "Christ, man hits like a truck loaded wit' nuclear bombs..." His arms still ache from that singular impact, and he knows that there's even more pain coming in the future.

But hey. He signed up for this... and he's gonna follow through with it. Turning, he takes off at a fast pace, boots pounding the still-wrecked ground. It isn't that he wants to get in close with Kain again, but he needs an angle, as he sees the suited blond slip around to Brian's back--he alters his trajectory, moving to circle around--and crossing his arms over himself.

With a guttural shout, he then rips his hands back across his body, unleashing a scything, whirling, flat projectile of green-tinged white chi, sending it spinning through the air for Kain. If it impacts, Kain will get a taste of reverberating energy, but a man with that much chi power to bear... he might not even feel it.

Whew. Roland's managing things rather well, although his flashy blocking has been overcome by the other Todoh student managing a full strike. Two can play at that game; he slithers backwards, keeping his forearms held up, assuming an actually proper defensive stance. This is not a fight to coast through beign lazy. This is probably a good thing for him all in all, although like hell he would ever admit it. He charges around, circling the superior combatant, coming in from behind. And once fully behind, yanks off his hat, twirling it around his finger before pulling a cord. Blades erupt from the brim, and he twists, throwing all his weight and spiral into it. Like some mad frisbee, it hurtles towards the spine of the Heinlein, trying to impact with lacerating force! He really shouldn't throw out all of his trump cards from the get-go, but it's questionable that he might live long enough to show them all otherwise... .oO( Please ignore me, please ignore me... )

Looks like the wheel of pain was going to drop on Daniel Jack. His delay pays off, allowing him to catch Kain in a trio of punches. The snap-kick manages to stop him short, stunning the fighter long enough for Brian to pile in. "Sharp! Real sharp, Brian!" Glancing over his peers, he realized that Kain wasn't diving for the detective, but instead was making an opportunitistic attack right on the football star. With Roland coming in with his trademark hat trick and Jayden piling in with a Sonic BOOM (slash), Daniel was left behind. Yet, there was something in the back of his mind telling him something.

That something was the BURNING SPIRIT of TODOH.

"DANIEL!" The ghostly figure of Todoh called out. "Kain is a FOOL! A stupid FOOL! His chi is NOTHING compared to the might of TODOH! You must SHOW HIM THE ERRORS of his WAYS!" The detective stared fiercely at the man as the trio drove in with the awesome might of America. Yes. It was time. With his eyes burning, Daniel Jack broke his hands into fierce, clawed grips. With a deep-throated growl, his body began to erupt in a burning orange light. The raw chi boiled over his form, far more than what a mere man like himself could handle. The depths of the detective's eyes simply broke through the energy, like icy beacons of light. As he continued to tensely tear forth his hands, he roared, the energy exploding in a flash. The detective's form was still smoking as he glared at the true chi master, and cocking his head back, he shoot a hand forward, enticing the master warrior to approach. "KAIN! YOU and ME! RIGHT HERE. RIGHT NOW."

"LETS JACK THIS UP A NOTCH!"

Choo choo! Here comes the pain train!

Wait, what? Brian's face, already contorted in hurt, twists into a combination of said pain and confusion as Kain digs in and slows his movement. Feet pump harder against the ground even as he quickly grinds to a near halt, before Kain slips around him and makes a grab for his head. But like a horse on reins that are suddenly cut, Brian starts to bolt off as his impediment gets out of the way. Kain's hands go grab the giant man, and do start to yank him back before blowing the holy hell out of the Texan in that blackened chi... but instead of the head, Kain grabs the padding which was holding the former linebacker together, and detonates that right on top of the injury.

The scent of charred cotton, polymer and blood festers in the air as Brian gurgles out a scream like something out of C'thulhian mythos, crumpling to the ground as his shirt starts to quickly soak with his own blood. Shuddering, Brian slowly starts to crawl back onto his hands and knees after a long moment, teeth gritted to the point of potential dental injury. Several members of his medical staff start to make their way towards the Texan, but a curt, pained wave ushers them away. He snorts, a red, misty vapor lingering in the air.

That looks like it might've stung.

It's not hard for Kain to sense the energy flare as Jayden's projectile is launched, and after he releases his hold on Brian he spins around to meet it, moving to just smack it out of the air with a backhand. His movement is just slightly too slow, however, and the whirling projectile strikes him in the chest. And... doesn't appear to do anything at first. Then a confused expression briefly crosses Kain's face before his usual calm demeanor returns. The impact seems to have done /something/, but it would be difficult for most observers to tell what. And it doesn't distract Kain long enough for Roland to make good on it, as Heinlein leans back and out of the way of the spinning hat. The bladed headwear spins off until it strikes the side of the gazebo, lodging in the woodwork.
Kain briefly glances at Brian as the football player gathers himself up. Now seems like it would be a good time to stomp him back down, keep him from getting up at all... but this is a charity event, and Kain is trying to work on his PR. And if he wants to appear 'sporting', well, he should probably answer Daniel's challenge. He strides toward the detective, moving deceptively fast for what seems like a casual gait. With his left hand Kain reaches out to grip Daniel's arm firmly, while his right hand comes in toward Daniel's stomach at an upward angle. The intent being to blast him right off his feet with an explosive punch, forcing him to pivot rather painfully around his arm before the limb is then used as a grip to toss him into the ground. Being sporting doesn't mean going /easy/ on people. Going /completely/ against his fighting reputation would seem rather odd in itself.

%'Sporting.' An interesting concept, and one that Jayden rarely subscribes to. No time to worry about whether Kain'll feel the sonic energy going through him--Kain has proved to be a dangerous opponent. Dangerous, but -not- infallible. Jay has to believe that if they can keep pressuring him they'll win. He's earning some valuable experience here, too. Beating Cross wasn't -all- that educational.

Brian takes a massive hit, but the man's still up and running for now--no one's been knocked out... -yet-... and it looks like Daniel's on track to become a flaming pile of mush. Can't say he's all that sad to see it--got nothin' 'gainst the black man, but he's just glad it ain't him.

Just wearing Kain down isn't going to work--each hit needs to count. With that in mind, Jayden takes another run, leaping up into the air and tucking into a ball briefly before hurling himself into a slow spin--intent on slamming a horizontally-travelling bootheel into the back of Kain's head with a kick almost like a rolling sabot, only fired at a higher height.

Goddamnit. Roland really needs his hat. And on top of it all, that's one of his fastest attacks. He knows that Kain is on the level of the Gods compared to him, but that doesn't make it wound his ego less when his prideful onslaughts are completely evaded. He does hold up his hand, and a glistening wire goes taut. Stopping dead, his spiraling hat falls to the ground. Weaving away so Heinlein is no longer intercepted, he rears back and sends it flying back towards him, catching it in a free hand. What now? He's only got one more good assault left... better use it, while he still can! Rushing towards the blond haired fighter, weaving through the chaos with the expert ease of one at home in such environments, he leaps forward, doubling and sending one extended leg scissoring overhead. The steel heel attempting to slam right atop Kain's head, while he's distracted murdering Daniel. "SHAZAM!!" is called out. It doesn't help... but it certainly can't hurt!

There is one point on all trained martial artists where you are expected to have some minor competency on defending. That point, of course, is the forearm. Located near the wrist, it is the prime point for any self-righteous walker of the streets to be accosted and manhandled. It was one of the first points where Daniel Jack learned to protect himself. Through the sacred art of Todoh-Ryuu Kobojutsu, he was quickly able to guard himself from most any sort of aggression. Of course, it took at lot of practice (read: failures) to get it right. But now, above all, it was a skill of great personal merit.

And thus, we enter Kain.

Daniel Jack managed to draw Kain away from Brian, who seemed extremely brutalized there. A few months ago, Daniel would probably be getting second thoughts about his decision to call Kain out. But not these days. No, as Kain glided in like a bat, the detective stared fiercely. The man snapped out his own hand, and latched on to Daniel's forearm.

There is a sharp snap as Daniel breaks the grip, shooting his opposing hand into the crook of Kain's arm. His snatched arm flips around, latching on the very hand that snagged him. Daniel stepped forward, pushing Kain's arm outwards as he slide in, allowing himself to turn away from the follow-up punch, and not get struck. It worked, as the follow-up strike went behind him. Daniel Jack placed his shoulder into Kain, now, and with a mighty heave, hurled the man over his back and into the ground. In most cases, that would have been it.

But Kain was getting the full Jack here.

Daniel Jack snapped the heel of his shoe down and around, pinning Kain down by the throat. Leaving pressure on, he flicked his fingers, snapping out a light cigarette. Drawing it up, he takes a long draw, and puffs out a cloud of smoke. With a great, exaggerated motion, he releases his foot, taking three short steps backwards as the rest of the American Team piles in, ready to take on the rest of Kain. But not before the detective gives a quick salute to the whole crowd, jaw clenched on a fresh cigarette.

"Now that is the Way of Todoh, scuzzies."

This is not fun. This is not happy. This is a pain in the ass... well, back, really. Brian knows stitches have been ruptured, and that nagging problem in his right lung has him asperating blood like a fog machine. Pink puffs of air curl around the red jets of breath that shoot forth from his nose at regular intervals. Like a wounded animal, he turns towards Kain on his hands and knees, almost limping with his arms as he does so. Pain shudders through his body as he tilts his head up to see Kain as he does battle with Daniel... and then he collapses as the twitching causes his foundations to crumble. Here, for a few seconds, he stays, a twitching heap of pain and blood.

Then, things change.

His right hand extends, slamming into the ground like a mechanical stabilizer. His left hand follows suit moments after. Right foot. Left foot. Like a robot, the enormous Texan raises himself to a fifty percent extension, head slowly raising to lock his gaze on the main attraction here. For a brief moment, Brian's eyes seem to crackle with Dallas silver and blue. He leans back, backside raising as he chambers himself to attack. Ready. Aim. FIRE.

Bursting out of the gate like a greyhound, Brian charges at Kain with the intensity of a man posessed. Before colliding with the millionaire, though, Brian's right arm and shoulder become sheathed in flickering blue and silver chi as he swings it up and under Heinlein, hoping to liberate his feet from his shoes should he send him airborne as planned. Four steps past Kain, however, Brian slides to a stop, reverses and takes another pass, crashing in towards his target a second, a third, a fourth time before his fifth pass... Which, should his quarry be taken in by, will involve the same pop-up maneuver, followed quickly by Brian himself taking to the air, slamming a fist into Kain to spike him to the ground... and then a 335lb Texan falling out of the sky and flattening the smaller blond with an elbow drop to the small of the back.

Animals tend to strike fiercest when injured. So do Texans.

Kain is flipped over and sent crashing down on his back, left staring up at the sky. But Daniel may find that his foot on Kain's throat doesn't feel like quite as much of a secure pin as it has in other instances. Normally the target's neck has some give under the force of a foot, but with Kain it's like standing on a rock. And when he gets off Kain smoothly starts getting back to his feet, apparently still in fine shape. Except he's got two men leaping at him with flying kicks. Well, that's not such a big deal, but- *CRACK*
That nose comes from Kain as Brian plows into him, carrying him right out from under Jayden and Roland, although Roland's heel does manage to just barely clip Kain's shoulder. That's not a very big concern at the moment. The blond is juggled by repeated impacts as Brian charges back and forth like a raging bull before he's finally slammed down into the ground with enough force to cause an indentation in an area several feet around him.
It takes several moments for Kain to extricate himself, and when he does manage to pull himself up he's looking more than a little bit bruised and battered, with a streak of blood over one eye. And his left arm is hanging at an angle that does not look at all natural. He frowns at it for a moment, then reaches over with his right hand to give the limb a quick yank and then slam it back into place. He then takes a moment to flex his left hand a few times, bending his arm as well to make sure it's still functioning properly. "That... was quite impressive."

"Sheeit. I'll say... dat' was -impressive-." Jayden got an up-close view of the initial hit, of course, as Brian took Kain right out from underneath him--that sweeping heel finding nothing but air. Jayden puts his legs down and lands as Kain's getting his world rocked right in half. The rumors of Mr. Battler's death are highly exaggerated, that's for sure.

"Bet Elle'd love to hire him," he mutters, but shakes his head. That's a different business agenda, and he'd have to talk to Elle -first- anwyays... watching Kain yank that dislocated arm back into socket just earns a small nod of respect from Jayden. Some fighters wouldn't do that, that's for sure.

Of course, he's sticking to his tactical guns--can't just let Kain recover. That's why Jayden puts on a burst of speed, dashing forwards and drawing his right hand back, curled into a fist--a fist that flares with the same sonic energy that he tossed before, as he closes with the blond and attempts to tag him with a body-level hook punch with that chi-imbued hand.

Unacceptable! Daniel seems to be acting... competent?! This is overshadowing the fact that Roland managed to not die. Not only managing that, but also turning around an attack, is rather more impressive. Brian is given little attention -- he just got owned to sucha degree he'll probably need to use that wheelchair legitimately now! His eyes narrow towards the display, and also the breathtaking tenacity of Brian hauling himself up to his feet anew. "..." Blowing away Kain, and he only glances?! And what the fuck is an Elle? No matter. He's grudgingly lost this exchange of badassness, although being the fourth in the performance isn't too pitiful. He managed to block that chi good!! Digging out a bottle of vodka, he tips it back and swallows a few mouthfuls. Then stamps one foot forward, rearing back his arm, and hurling it towards Kain; spiraling head over heels, aiming to impact and shatter with any part of his upper body, hopefully drenching him. However, the heavy glass has been reinforced in the neck and bottom, making it do a more significant amount of damage then one might think...! "You look like you could use a drink!"

COMBATSYS: Roland has ended the fight here.

Daniel's attack, while not super effective against Kain, certainly destroyed the entire combat system. Oh, it also provided enough of a delay for the rest of Team America to pile in. Most importantly, Football Super Star comes rocketing in to turn Kain into some Krepes. The detective FELT the magnitudes from that one. Daniel Jack would stoop to the level of the French to describe how much sadomazo Kain just went through.

Daniel Jack does give Brian a salute for the kings.

But now, Jayden and Roland were charging in to a man who was quite impressed. It looked like Daniel Jack was going to have his turn with the Kain. The detective slides in, cigarette still fuming in his maw. "You steady, Brian? You steady?" He shoots as he blazes over the football star, and right down on master of chi. As he charged it- the detective noticed something in the corner of his eye.

Roland was wasting booze.

"LOOK OUT!" The detective roared, attempting to shove Kain out of the way. The fight didn't matter. The risk of a counter attack didn't matter. No. Daniel Jack's eyes were locked on one thing, and one thing alone.

Saving that vodka.

It takes the mountain a bit longer than it it normally would to roll off his opponent and back to his feet. Luckily, Kain is making a show of putting himself back together as the steam wears off the pain train. Brian's back is now utterly soaked in red, the shirt matted to his body dripping with his own blood. Well, not entirely his blood. Looks like Kain's left a bit of his own amongst the mess. Well, the Texan sure unloaded on him... He gave everything he had to the new head of Howard's businesses, and, for once, he caught one of these fighting types in the full fury that put a number of NFL quarterbacks out of a career.

But even still, Kain stands there. His calm demeanor is almost like he's gloating. The fire still burns in Brian's back and it fuels his anger. He's going to wipe that nonexistant smug grin off of Kain's face. Oh, yeah. For charity.

Stepping forward and kneeling down, ignoring all the others around him (though hoping they will provide enough distraction that Kain will turn around), Brian's massive hands reach for Heinlein's ankles. Should they gain purchase, Kain should expect to be hefted into the air, over Brian's head, and then slammed into the ground like a sledgehammer breaking concrete. Which likely would hurt.

With three fighters and a bottle coming toward him Kain is in a bad spot. But he stands his ground, waiting for the last possible moment as they all begin to pile into him... and then he leaps. Somebody else may get hit by the bottle, but Kain hardly cares about that. He plants a hand on Brian's shoulder, using him as a vault for springing up and out of the way as Jayden and Daniel crash into the area Kain was standing in just a moment ago and Brian's hands close on empty air.
And then, as he sprins off of Brian, Kain snaps out with an explosive kick to the back of the footballer's head. It's a pretty vulnerable spot on most people if you can reach it, and since Brian's not wearing a helmet it makes it even less protected compared to the rest of his body. And if the kick should happen to knock Brian off balance, causing him to fall on top of Jayden or Daniel before they can get out of the way, well, that would be a pleasant bonus.

Well, damn. Jayden's left clutching air, kind of, and he's left unable to follow up his hook punch--even as he's recovering, Kain is flipping out of the air. That does leave the bottle, which flies right past Jayden's head, and the mercenary grunts. Almost hit him in the head... but not close enough, and that's alright. For now.

Twisting around, he sees Kain heading for Brian with a big, flaming kick. "Tch... big man gon' bite it fo' sure..." Oh well. Jayden charges in, aiming to follow Kain in--not to stop him, really, but just to try and grab him around the waist, to hurl him to the ground, a simple and basic throwing technique.

Hey, it worked for Brian, right? ... though Jayden isn't anywhere near the grappler that the big bruiser is.

It looks like Roland's plan is going to reach fruition. He'll manage to milk out a fight and get a paycheck while only being attacked once! Sure, his scorched forearms still throb from the impact, but he's had far worse. ...in a total fight, not a single deflection. More then anything, Kain has to be distracted and prevented from regaining any momentum. He might reach a rhythm where everyone is oneshot, one after another! Skulking around behind once more, he attempts to quickly rush from the man's blind spot. And then sweep out his foot, to nail the blonde haired fighter /right/ between the legs, throwing all his weight into it. "All the training in the world won't make your balls hard as steel!!" is claimed. But is it TRUE? Or will this be as horrific as if he had attacked Grant's nipples...?!

Daniel Jack skids to a stop, shuddering past the point as Kain just shoots up. Daniel Jack snaps around, grimacing. His hand lashed out, like a crab out for a coconut. The bottle spins through the air, past Jayden's and...

Right into Daniel's hand.

The detective throws back his head, bringing the bottle to his lips. With the raging skill of a true hard-boiled detective, Daniel just chugged the sweet liquid. The fluid burned down his throat, hissing and churning in the pit of his stomach as he just kept letting it down. It was physically taking him apart, but at the same time, the magical fluid strengthened. The camera locked on him, fixated for the whole time the detective was downing it. And with a bubble, the vodka is gone, demonstrating the girth of Daniel's throat. And then, as he tossed the bottle away, he let loose a message for the kids.

"*BRAP!*"

COMBATSYS: Daniel burns with the WAY OF TODOH!

Large hands grasp nothing but air. Crap. Instead, Brian feels Kain press down on his shoulder, likely getting a handful of blood in the process, as the Texan watches his teammates' attempts to snag the wily Heinlein also fall flat. Damn.

A second later, his vision flashes red as Kain's kick returns true. He stumbles forward, not quite falling over, but not quite staying on his feet, either. He drops onto his right knee, his left hand also crashing to the ground to prevent the former linebacker from planting his face into the turf.

The medical staff rush to Brian's side, trying to get him to lay down. One finds themselves thrown off to the side as the Texan slowly begins to stand again, acting more like a golem than a man. His eyes are closed, the force of the blow apparently enough that he really can't open them, but he forces one to slit enough to let him see his opponent. A trickle of blood seeps from one ear, his nose and both corners of his mouth. Yeah. Kain hit this man twice and turned him into a bloody mess. Sure, Brian hit him once and did the same, but, still, shitchrist. Look at this mess. You can hear the SNF organizers cringing as they start calculating the cost for the medical care they'll have to pay for. People don't get like this normally. Well, blame Brian's manager, who thought he was healthier than he was.

One of the emergency care workers runs off towards the ambulance as Brian starts to stalk forward, each step shaky as if balancing on eight inch stilettos yet carrying the force of a tank. He reaches out, seeking to take Kain by the throat and waist with his bloodied paws. If he snags him, then Kain's spine will meet Brian's knee as he is lifted into the air and slammed forcibly into it repeatedly. Brian likes repeating things.

After Brian's time with Kain is through... or at least a few seconds after Kain escapes the upcoming pummeling, a shot is heard from the direction of the ambulance. Brian staggers, hand reaching up to the tranquilizer dart embedded in his neck before his vision once again flows red. And then... blackness. And a lot of freaking snoring.

COMBATSYS: Brian can no longer fight.

When Jayden reaches for him Kain hops back... and right into Brian's hands. That's quite bad, as Heinlein finds himself being lifted up off the ground, but he wasn't completely unprepared for it. Brian manages to slam Kain down into his knee once, but the blond man twists with the blow and shoves back hard against Brian, breaking free and falling away to land in a crouch from which he swiftly rises. And that is apparently just the opportunity Roland was looking for, coming in at Kain from behind for a shot between the legs.
But it'll take more than that to get one over on Kain. Heinlein throws himself backwards at Roland, causing the foot to miss the mark and allowing Kain to use his legs to largely block Roland's leg on the upswing. Of course, this means that Kain isn't facing Roland, so how is he going to go on the offensive? Well, nobody ever said that chi blasts /have/ to come from the hands. An explosion of golden light erupts from Kain's back, probably appearing to Roland as a very brief spark of light followed by sensory overload. And also being sent flying backwards at high speed from the force of the blast.

Well, Roland's theory of non-invincible genitals might have merit... he forgot the fact that he has to actually succeed in hitting, however. Eyes widen when he bounces off those shapely steeled thighs instead! Sent flying backwards, leaving the wall of chi flame smoldering and blackened, he lands on his shoulder and rolls around, shrieking in pain. Yes, shrieking. That's not a masculine sound. "OH GOD! ASS CHI!!" He quickly finds out he's not actually on fire -- it just FEELS like he is. So much for not being annihilated. But he manages to get to his feet, coughing up a cloud of black dust. "JEWELS." He states this in a sharp tone, rising full. "Let us show him... the way of TODOH." He then slides his feet backwards. "I will give you an opening. You are to use it!! Do not FAIL ME LIKE YOU ALWAYS DO, YOU WORTHLESS BASTARD!" Once more, green fire ripples across Roland's form, saturating him, And then he surges forward, leaving behind silhouettes. The speed might actually be notable; that personal bolstering technique of his can be useful sometimes. Snapping out both his blades, rippling with chi, he tries to stab them into Kain's stomach, then brutally kick him in the groin. He will have his crotch hit, one way or another... But the main intent, is to get all of his attention!! "NOW, JEWELS, NOW!!"

Tch, again. Roland leaps forward, shouting for... Jewels? "Th' hell is wrong wit' you two? Actin' like a gay version o' Tango an' Cash..." He shakes his head. These guys... buncha freakin' idiots. Jayden's gonna have no part of that. However, after seeing Roland get smashed in the face, Jayden doesn't want to get closer to Kain anymore. That is just not kosher.

So, he does what seems best--he gathers his energy. Of course, he's more active than reactive in this fight--so he doesn't just sit around gathering the power. It takes little time for the power to come to him, and he concentrates it in his hands again, crossing them over his body... and then sweeping them not just out, but out, then in again, releasing anothe scything projectile--but a much -larger- one, spinning towards Kain once more, practically cutting through the air.

Just a second, Roland, just a second. Daniel's still feeling that buzz. Keeping steady on his feet, the detective blinks several times. "WHOA! Great Gallup on the whole nine yards, Roland, was that booze street legal? I think I just lost my sight." For a brief moment, Daniel was gone. Brian's fall didn't snap him out. Not even the flash of Kain Back-Chi could rose him out of that buzz. There was only one thing, and one thing alone that could stop a good old fashion booze smchooze.

The WAY of TODOH.

Daniel shakes it off, eyes latched on Roland as he PERFORMED the MOVES. The GROOVES. With the expert skills of a true master, Roland was going right for Kain's crotch. With Kain occupied by the furious charging of the loins, the detective was bounding through the air. Leaping through the air in a super-arch, his entire body was wound up to a single point: His hand. Curling his body backwards, he prepared a single karate chop. At this moment, he could have said many things. With the hand chop falling down right for Kain's skull, he could have cheered Roland on. He could have cried out something epic. Instead, he chose to make one thing clear.

"WEEEEEEEEeeeee Are not LIKE THAT!"

Although Kain is looking quite worn down he's still moving pretty smoothly. When the whirling energy from Jayden comes flying toward him he quickly steps out of the way, and- oh no! The gazebo! Bits of white wood go everywhere as the structure collapses. But Kain doesn't have time to observe the carnage, as Roland and Daniel come racing toward him. One arm snaps out behind him to block Daniel's chop, while the other grabs one of Roland's stabbing arms. At the same time he twists into Roland's attack, the other blade just grazing him and Roland's leg slamming into Kain's hip. "You know, with all the people watching... after those two attempts of yours, they've got to be pretty disappointed."
And then Kain shoves back at Daniel, takes a half step backwards, and then lashes out with a flaming foot right toward Roland's groin. Gotta give the audience what they want!

The audience wants to see Roland's jimmies burst like popcorn? ... yeah, okay, it's possible. Jayden doesn't get too put out by Kain flinging himself out of the way of the projectile. He crushed the gazebo, saves some time for the construction crews. Kain is quite the fighter--and he knew this, going into the fight. "Right, then," he murmurs, "can't be much left now..."

Once again he finds himself dashing forward---almost against his will--aiming to close in, against his better judgement. He acts fearlessly, as he rushes in, feinting a left jab, for Kain's chin, and then coming around with a sharp right hook, aiming to tag the blond man right in the temple.

"Guess we ain't so hot compared to you, eh, chere? But... 'still three on one..."

This is it, Roland. This is it. He widens his eyes, cursing, seemingly more annoyed then fearful in the breath of time his wrist is grasped. "...!!" Kain wouldn't--he's supposed to be high class! Once more, that feeble burst of chi rushes through him, and he jumps upwards and backwards. But to no avail. He's impacted, and there's a fiery explosion. A couple seconds later, Roland lands on the ground in front of Kain, quivering and grasping his abused groin. "Ayame... will be pissed..." he squeaks out. But he's a tenacious little bastard, and in point blank range, grasps upon the fleeing essence of energy running from his eunich form. Pushing up, he makes a quickdraw stance, and starts throwing an onslaught of chi-imbued projectiles; darts, knives, upskirt panty shots, all which explode in little PAFFPAFFPAFFS. When it ceases, the burned, scorched, and manhandled Roland teeters, before holding up his hands. "...I'm out." he manages. Before falling backwards, out of the fight!

COMBATSYS: Roland can no longer fight.

Upskirt panty shots? That's SO Choi.

"Two! Two on one, scuzzy!" Daniel snaps from his gritted teeth as he nearly breaks his hand on Kain's block. Dropping to the ground, he takes a few short steps backwards as he glances to the surviving remains of the gazebo. He hoped that his level was low enough to get exp from that. Stepping back, he notices that his rival just got, well, aced. Badly. Daniel Jack would have flinched, but hey. There was a reason why he was Jewels and not Roland.

As Jayden follows through with his attack, and Woody goes crazy go nuts, Daniel Jack decides to handle this fully Jacked. The detective picks up speed, and leaps into a flying tackle. Arms out, he attempts to embrace Kain after the storm of projectiles and Jayden's mean hook. If he makes contact, Daniel will just twist himself down, allowing Kain to break his fall.

FULL STOP.

Kain ducks quickly under Jayden's strike to the temple, and just keeps on moving from that motion because the air is suddenly filled with all sorts of stuff as Roland throws out everything he's got. Finally it looks like Roland is running out of stuff to fling and Kain starts to slow down, but doesn't stop completely. A good thing, as he needs that momentum when Daniel suddenly comes flying at him. Another quick burst forward lets him evade the detective's grasp, although the end of his coat does briefly slip out of Daniel's hand.
And then Kain stops and turns around to face Daniel and Jayden, looking at them warily. One has to look carefully, but it seems he's favoring one leg, although he still seems steady enough. If he pushes himself, he might just be able to beat these two. On the other hand...
Kain holds up his right arm. "Stop, that's enough. All four of you have fought quite well, and I think you've more than earned the larger prize set aside for tonight's charitable donation. And I still intend to match it. A total of $500,000 for the people of Southtown. I'm sure they'll be quite thankful. So congratulations!" And then he smiles, apparently managing to have somehow cleaned off at least most of the blood that had gotten on his teeth.

Roland sizzles on the ground.

A cease fire. Or at least a surrender. Daniel Jack lands on the ground in a tumble. As Kain staggers back with that unearthly grace, the detective rises, eyes burning and clothing stained. Keeping besides Jayden, he watches as Kain... gives up. The detective stares for a minute, then drops his guard. With a quiet shrug, he states loudly his thoughts on the whole match.

"Well, at least Woody got it in the bojangles."
