Description: Put three women in a desert. Make two of them friends. Put them at each others NECKS and SEE THE BLOOD FLY. Perhaps sparks is more apt due to the nature of combat. At any rate, can the combined force of Kurenai and Roughnailt be enough to defeat Diana?! < Winner : Diana >
"It's hot!"
"Miss Raoghnailt, I need you to-"
"It's -HOT!-"
The young man sighs, rubbing his temples as the small jeep rumbles along across the African wasteland. He was told that Raoghnailt could be high maintence sometimes. The whole thing was supposed to be part of some 'angelic' scheme, to help raise money for some fighting organization for kids. But since they left the hotel room, Raoghnailt had done nothing but moan and gripe, complaining about the sweltering heat.
In her defense, the location was awful.
"Look, I told you to wear sunscree-" "Shut up! I didn't know the Kalahari Desert was supposed to be so hot!" Gingerly, Raoghnailt undoes her sweat-drenched blindfold, and wrings it out. "And don't look!" Naturally, the young make peers at the woman, catching a peek as she replaces the blindfold carefully, trying to ignore the sudden bumps.
The jeep began to slow down as it approached the camp. Several tents were done up for the SNF crew and their equipment. Many generators were whirring across the camp, powering the various cooling mechanisms for the poor people out in the heat. Fans were blowing in a sort of symphony of buzzing, the various crew people sucking down water as they stood by the fans. Past all the tents was the 'fighting arena,' a vaguely marked space stretching out several yards in the desert. The jeep comes to a halt in the heart of the camp, and the young man jabs the sunburnt, Scottish woman. "We're here, Miss-"
"WATER! I want water NOW!"
"Damn, it's hot. I mean... it's -really- hot. -Really really- hot. It's got to be at least 113.2 degrees Fahrenheit out." So hot, she can't even wear her usual outfit--instead, she's wearing a color-swapped version of it, the variation on her Seijyun outfit all in white and gold, white boots and white leather gloves.
Fortunately for the young man above, Kurenai is riding in a different van--and she's added an accessory to her belt--a canteen. A nice, cold-rimed canteen. She hasn't touched it yet, though; the pink-haired ninja is riding up atop the back of the jeep, squealing happily as it jounces and jumbles.
They arrive soon enough, with one last jounce that urenai takes advantage of, flipping out of the jeep and landing within the marked-off area. "That was pretty fun!" Is this the mien of a fighter? Apparently so--she looks around for a moment, spotting the blindfolded girl. The math whiz knows what her partner and opponent look like--and they couldn't look any different from each other...
"Miss Raoghnailt!" she shouts, cheerfully, walking across the sand towards the blind woman. "It's really hot out here, isn't it?"
It was a different kind of heat than what an Amazon may be used to, but all the same, to claim an Amazon would have trouble with heat would be simply assuming. Surely enough, Diana has arrived before hand. NESTs allows her free movement, and in this case, they had moved her quite freely. Free of all laws and legalities.
Currently sitting in the shade, a degree or two cooler, Diana has found it a rather warm but tolerable place. Hot indeed, but when you 'slave' inside near such heavy machinery that also creates quite a bit of heat at times, you live with it. That, and her outfit is heavily open. Slits and openings all about her clothing present it more like something to mostly cover the sports bra and matching undergarment from the others.
Eyes closed, Diana sits, legs crossed, head bent down a bit. The lazy sun, a lazy day.
And a loud girl with a jeep. A squeeing equally loud girl. Standing, the amazon glances over towards the fighters, raising a hand so she can see clearer, free of the sun. "So they're finally here." Tch. Kicking off the ground, Diana vanishes half way, before re-appearing standing before the fighting section, arms crossed.
"So nice of you ladies to join me today. The weather's perfect for it as well, isn't it?" Diana teases, a grin growing across her face.
Normal outfits? Yeah, see, Raoghnailt doesn't have this whole 'all-terrain' thing down. Her cohort did, everyone else did, but not Raoghnailt. Heaven knows she was going to have some strange man pick out her outfits, needless to say help her get dressed. As such, Raoghnailt went with what made her most comfortable.
"Come on, get this woman a bottle of water!" The young man rushed away from the jeep, dressed in Kakhis, a wide-brimmed hat, and a white cotton shirt. His ward? She was in a dust-covered pink muumuu, wearing brown hard-bottomed sandals. Sweat was pouring down her body, and she was adjusting her body every so often, trying to fight off the rashes. Her skin was turning bright red already from the sun exposure, and combined with the sweat and the heat, she was nothing but miserable.
Drawing out a long, white cane, she taps the outside of the jeep lightly, and then drops down. "I hate this! I hate this! I, oh, hmmm..." Scrunching up her face, she cringes more, the sting of her sunburn boiling up. The young man returns with a bottle of water. Facing towards the two girls, she reaches out at takes the bottle from the man's hand. Quickly, she begins drinking, letting the water run down her throat. About halfway through the bottle, she drains the rest over her head, letting the cool fluid roll over her. She felt only a little better, but much more prepared for the fight. "It is hot, oh, you must be Kurenai, right?" Raoghnailt states, walking across the ground. The brushy weeds scratch her muumuu and feet, hanging there as she moves forward, sweeping her cane. Her assistant mutters something in her ear. "And then you must be Diana? Okay, I hope I don't mix you up!
As the woman stopped short inside the arena, a great grumble overcame the working staff. Rapidly, they set up the cameras, trying to hurry up and beat the heat. From the cover of the tent, the judge calls out. "Look, ladies, I'll give you the count of five! Keep it clean, I don't want to get out there, okay!?" Raoghnailt yells back, turning over her shoulder. "We'll make it quick, don't worry!" Facing back forwards, Raoghnailt spoke with a tired bounce in her verse. "Oh, Kurenai? Could you come over here? I really don't want to get you mixed in the crossfire, I need to, well, I need to get a good reading on you, okay?"
With a pained grin, Raoghnailt smiles, trying hard to ignore the burns.
Kurenai turns to address Diana. "It's hot. It's -really- hot. This is seasonable weather for lizards and snakes--no, even then, they'd probably boil to death." She makes no further comment on the weather, but when Raoghnailt calls her over, needing a 'reading'...? The pink brows knit together a moment, but then she nods.
"Sure thing, miss Raoghnailt!" And then she's walking over to the G-Project girl. Ah, the things these three could talk about... but never will. Instead, she turns to face Diana, studying the woman. She's been placed in a two versus one situation--which means she must be the superior fighter in terms of skill. Something to think about.
The pink hair bobs as the girl draws her weapon, with the faint rasp of wood on leather, though she hasn't raised it yet. "Guess we're just about ready to start this thing off, aren't we?" The judge is already counting to five... Kurenai simply nods, beginning to prepare herself. But is she really ready for the onslaught that is Diana?
"Why yes, and you must be... Raoughnailt." As much as that is difficult to pronounce. Still, it is as the woman stops short inside the arena. Cameras and all are set up, and the count of five is given, as Diana stands still, arms stay crossed as the women speak between each other. As well as Kurenai complains to her.
"Oh? Why yes, it is a bit on the hot end... but I would have expected you two to be a bit more used to such a thing." She gestures forwards, waving her arm back and forth before shrugging. "After all, they like to do things like this often, don't they? In cold or warm places. Things that really test you." She states this, beginning to pace a bit. The woman moves her arm.
Diana catches it, the blade that Kurenai holds. "Oh, another stick?" Diana chides, sliding out her own blade from seemingly nowhere, drawing it forwards as it is pulled from behind her back and brandished, the butterfly handle just pointed towards the two.
"Well, you certainly have some skill, or you wouldn't be here." She once again chides, swinging the blade through the air, drawing a little pattern in the light as she ... simply seems to stay there. Watching their every move, keeping close tabs on exactly what they may be doing.
"I wouldn't want to hurt you two girls too much."

Two against one? Raoghnailt didn't quite understand that Diana would be quite dangerous as an opponent, at least as first. As she stood in the heat, she began to focus. With the water refreshing both her body and her mind, the clarity of both fighters were becoming apparent. Kurenai aura rippled through her own field, one that was strong, if not outstanding. What was more interesting was Diana. There was something strange about her aura. Something... corrupted about it. Augmented. Like American Fast Food.
That disturbed the girl deeply.
"Stop talking about the heat, both of you! It is making me sick just thinking about it!" Raoghnailt curtly snaps, taking a cue from Miss Black. "And I hope you both will impress me... as much as I will impress you! And I mean that nicely!" Raoghnailt smirked, facing off in the distance as the final time was counted off. While the slashes of both weapons were meaningless to Raoghnailt... the pattern in the air seems to garner a small flinch from the girl.
She felt that.
As the judge calls zero, a shockwave blasts over the arena, dissipating the light pattern that Diana painted. The G-Project experience begins to glow with a pale blue light, energy boiling over her. It was a bit refreshing, actually, as light wind began to buffet with the force. Raoghnailt began to walk towards the strange pillar that made Diana with little skill. With the grace of a woman in sandals, she boldly was stepping towards the woman, making no sign of defense or offense.
Totally unprofessional.
Drawing her cane over her shoulder and across her chest, the light that enveloped her began to flare up, drawing over the stick. The cane began to burn with the same energy as Raoghnailt. Still smirking, Raoghnailt simply swiped the cane with a backhand. "Aye-ha!" A long beam of energy lingers in the wake of the swing, giving some hint of where Raoghnailt's talents lay. While the impact of the cane would be little more than a simple sting, the chi would cut far deeper, tearing not just through skin and tissue...
But to the very essence of her aura.
Kurenai grins a little. "Mmmhmm. Another stick. Well, there's no reason to wield real steel in a fight like this, is there?" There -could- be reasons, of coures, but her teacher isn't letting her use live steel anyways. The very sharp rapier is eyed, and she shrugs.
"But maybe there is... who can say? We'll have to let the fight decide, right?" The girl glances over at her teammate and nods. Let the fight decide who is right and who is wrong.. she likes it. Of course, she'll do everything in her power to make sure that she and Rao come out on top, won't she? To work in concert with the blind woman.
Of course she's got her canteen, probably filled with fruit punch Gatorade, but she hasn't taken a sip yet. Instead, she brings the weapon around onto her left shoulder, slinging it over her back, gripped in her left hand.
Raoghnailt strikes with a chi infused strike... and that makes her grin a bit. Crouching, she pushes off the soft sand, leaping up and aiming to go over Raoghnailt and Diana both--throwing herself into a spinning strike. If she's timed it right, and her aim is on, then her own strike will be aimed for the back of Diana's head, infused with her chi as well, a bright white-pink in color.
"Sorry Raoghnailt! I'll try not to mention the blazing heat anymore!" ... oops.

Corrupted? No, Igniz keeps his underlings quite well under his wing, even if one could call her corrupted, Diana is certainly not corrupted. At least, not in her own belief. Still standing there, the woman looks on to the two, glancing between Rao and Kurenai, eyes following the movement of her blade. Back and forth, between the two.
"Oh, well, I guess we could always just get down to it then. If you will." She notes. Rao moves first, right after the judge calls a zero. A shockwave removing the little light pattern, merely a show of her grace, and the movement of the blade with the light above. A trick to her. It's enough to warn Diana of the girls capabilities, and then came the glow. What warning, now, would she need? The cane provides that, a simple swipe that causes Diana to kick back, the long beam causing her to vanish, appearing a bit to the side of where she initially stood. "Interesting... but really not good enough," Diana notes, "Too easy to see though..." Though Kurenai changes that. "Of course there is." Diana chides to the other girl, "This is a real fight, isn't it?" She asks, turning to face her." That's when Kurenai throws herself towards her, the back of her head so close to being struck.
There is a dull clang as the wood meets metal, even as the chi washes through, burning against Diana's skin. It is hardly the full power of the assault. "Quite skilled." The amazon notes, "But did you think I wouldn't expect an attack from the back?"
Twirling around, and pushing the blade away, Diana swings a heavy and wide strike towards Kurenai, a swing meant to push through any defense that she could manage to make in that time. "Perhaps you are better on the defensive, hmm?"
Not even a double team seems to pull it off for Raoghnailt. Her difficulty was projection. Almost anyone could see her attacks coming a mile away. Even someone not as talented as Diana could see that she was going to swipe. Pure power, no speed. Her cane sweeps the air harmlessly, cleaving through the heat with simple grace.
However, Kurenai's flanking and speed proved a bit more successful. Her white-hot energy easy to trail, and as she lands, Raoghnailt shuffles over, keeping the flanking going. "I am supposed to be more subtle, actually. It is a bit hard, though!" Diana might be expected attacks from the back, but at this point, Raoghnailt could really only bank on her power over tactics.
She releases her cane, letting it dangle on the small strap around her wrist. The girl from G-Project brings forward her free hand, reaching out forward like if she was writing on a chalkboard. A small, dense light burns in her finger tips as she draws force a glowing point hovering in the air. Like what Diana did before, she begins crafting a small symbol in the air. Shaped like a spiral, she whirls her finger inward. As she paints, her own burning light starts to die down, the energy flowing from herself into this symbol. As Diana lunges for Kurenai... Raoghnailt draws back her hand, and pushes her palm in to the symbol.
A single beam of bright, pale light erupts from the symbol, as wide around as a hand. Raoghnailt holds there, allowing the energy to flow forth, aiming straight for the center of that strange aura. Of course, as if she wasn't subtle enough, she had to go forward and warn her ally. "Watch out!"

Diana's strike does in fact crush Kurenai's attempt to defend; only a quick movement prevents her from being completely gutted, her uniform slashed, blood splashing across her uniform, across the sands. She hisses in pain, and then...
... she smiles.
"Did I think you wouldn't expect it? Why would I ever think that? Or are you looking for reasons to be indigant, like, 'I bet she's looking down on me'? I'm sure you're the one looking down on us... I can sort of feel it from you."
She brings her weapon up, gripping the weapon in both hands, up at shoulder level, presenting her left flank as she advances.
Once close enough she starts attacking--stabbing outwards, aiming for Diana's legs, making a series of careful, measured strikes, perhaps meant to see how she can make Diana move. None of the strikes are particular serious--she isn't committing herself to them fully, not even the last strike, a mid-level thrust.

Ah, subtlety. Truly a bane to warriors the world over. At times, you would find it in your favor, at others, the opponent merely reads you like a book, and then all is lost. Diana has learned to read the motions of others for this reason, and it has put her in a rather fortunate position, most of the time at least.
"I'm sure you will just have to continue it." If, really, that is what she is trying for. "As well as not declaring it to all of us." That's certainly not a way to be subtle. Kurenai, meanwhile, is in a different position. "Oh, so you're sure of yourself like that?" Diana notes, a bit humorously, as she looks to the girl. "You're probably right." She agrees. "I'm looking down on you. But you should be looking up!" Diana declares, "Otherwise you'll never see where you should be headed." Kurenai manages to slip the assault through, slamming into her legs, and causing Diana to stagger backwards a bit.
"Tch....aha!" To make the best of a bad situation, the ground, while not exactly soft, is not exactly stable either. There comes a single beam of bright, pale light. Called out before hand. She's .. struck?
The vision fades, Diana already under it before it could do such a thing, the image fading. The staggering turns into a slide, Diana moving on the loose soil from the lack of water, slipping under the beam, twisting under it before pushing off the ground, dragging the rapier, butterfly and all, up the midsection of Raoghnailt, a wide and heavy sweeping arc - that is deceptively fast.
It's not the only movement, another weeping strike added onto it, diving back and forth, but always downwards, on the girl.
"I really shouldn't just give too much attention to either of you girls. So I'll be nice."

"Nice hit, partner! An- EEP!" Raoghanilt doesn't have time to draw back her hand when Diana counters. Countering is the best word to describe it. She flawlessly dodges her attack, using the attack from Kurenai to assist her manuvaur. Raoghnailt feels the aura whip around the beam, like a palm through an open flame. She could not physically react in time to feel the... sword was it? Yes, she recalled that she had a real blade in tow. Drawing her arms up, she attempts to cover herself, but she didn't think that was enough. In truth, she didn't know how to defend against a blade this close. As such, as she felt the aura meet her aura... she began to focus.
Diana does slip in, but she might notice the air getting heavy. A dim light envelops the area around Raoghnailt, the aura coming to surface. It is like an ethereal fog, a dense field that drags down her movements. Her agility is reduced, her attacks softened, and she might even feel her aura slowly being diffused ever so slightly. Of course, that might all be moot to the woman, for only one thing is fully clear.
Raoghnailt gets skewered. "Y-you cut me! I've been cut! Kurenai! Help!" Raoghnailt exclaims to her partner, grazing her body with her hand. She felt the warm blood from the slashes, and began staggering backwards. She swipes the sword blindly around, swinging wildly as she attempts to fall back. Wild, yes. Erratic, yes. Crude? Most definitely. Not even the aura of energy graces the blows as the woman draws in, the charge being far too aggressive for the woman's tastes.
"I don't look down on people. I look forward, and up, and all around. Otherwise I -would- miss everything!" She knows she's still got the whole world to learn about. Elsewise she'd be stuck... she does get her hit in, and turns to flash a smile at Rao--a smile that fades when the girl takes the hit from Diana. She knows, first-hand, just how swift that rapier can cut--not a pleasant situation in the least.
"Don't panic!" she calls to her partner, as she draws back--then advances, trying to keep Diana sandwiched between her and the blind girl. Her bleeding's slowed some, and as she advances, weapon held in that high guard, she's considering her options... and then she glides forward, dashing towards Diana with her weapon at the ready.
The attack is simple--more thrusts of the weapon, targeted high, low, middle--on Diana they'd strike at shoulder height, bellybutton, and then right in the sternum--pink-white chi flaring around the yardstick-weapon as she goes.
"Raoghnailt--are you badly hurt? We have to keep on her or we'll lose for sure!" Of course, shouting strategy past the person you're trying to fight might not be the best way to go about things but it's pretty obvious strategy already, so Kurenai doesn't feel bad about revealing the 'strategy'. It's more of a protip than anything else, really.

Aura meets aura. Diana can feel, can sense something. She can't make it out, but the dim-light makes it more obvious - but too late to react to. She can't prevent it, and merely dives into the assault. Even then, there's only so much Raoghnailt can do to get her off. "Of course I did." Diana retorts, standing nearby her on the thirsty land. The blade pushes aside a stray bush that her dress was caught on, glancing to Rao. So she's blind.. but she can react in time.
A sight Diana is quite interesting in. Just what, exactly, is this girl? Where did she come from? She can assume they do not come naturally like this. Obvious, at least, to her. There is something more. "I expected something like that," Diana retorts, "But you're really focusing too much on what I'm saying." The blade comes forth, advancing on her. Diana watches as the weapon, and Kurenai, grow closer. A dash, a thrust, high low and middle. All over. At least, that's her attempt. Diana slides into the assault, evading the first few strikes, before lunging out of range.
Literately towards the blind swipes. The rapier is swung forwards, clattering the cane to the side, causing it to bite against her shoulder, to brush against it, before Diana thrusts, a single swipe, straight towards Raoghnailt.
The blade may not bite deep, but it would pierce her. That much is certain. Drawn outwards, Diana pulls the blade, however far it had piercing into the girl, out. "Losing your calm? ... You're still too new at this. How can you stop anything I'm doing when you don't seem to know what even you are trying. Tch." She takes a few steps back, raising the blade into the space between the two. Watching them still.
Raoghnailt doesn't look down on people either. Of course, this is no surprise, all considering. Kurenai's advice is taken to heart, yet Raoghnailt still continues to swipe blindly. Diana's expertise over both of the fighters was becoming obvious. Her ally's mobility and Diana's comments indicated that she was a swordsman too. Yet, she wasn't quite making perfect contact. Her own inexperience was more obvious, and a significant weakness to boot. She was doing exactly what Kurenai was warning about: Panicking.
And like that, she pays the price for it.
She manages to make contact with the NESTS den mother, yes. But at a significant cost. The counter-swipe stops the assault cold. Another yelp of pain follows as Raoghnailt grips her bloodstained torso. An abdomen strike this time, and quite deep. The heat rattled her body, the pain her wounds, and now to round it out was Diana's arrogant and quite truthful words. But then, her pride gave the scottish angel an opening.
Distance.
Raoghnailt's form begins to glow brighter and brighter, the once steady blue light now in a roiling fire. Flickering like a blaze, the energy seemed to pour off of the girl, chaotic. Raoghnailt holds there, slashing the air a few times more. "I... I don't defend... well... But... Kurenai... catch my flank.... I know how to stop people like you!" The light of her aura suddenly explodes into a great flash, a blinding glare that consumes the field. As the dazzling light dies down, a great pillar of raw energy stands where Raoghnailt once stood. In the depths is a shadow of the woman, moving her hand from within the furious light. A storm sits inside the pillar, as suddenly, a ripple break through the edge of the field. Another blinding flash is triggered as something erupts from the depths of the light....

... Erupting into a shower of smaller beams, scattering across where Diana stands. The beams hammer the earth and at the form of Diana, slashing through the ground with every miss. As the shower slows down, the pillar dies down, leaving Raoghnailt standing there, her form still coursing with the blazing blue light.
Grimacing.
To say things are going badly is probably a mild understatement. To Kurenai's eye, things aren't dire -yet-, but they soon will be, if the tide isn't turned somehow. She sees Raoghnailt get struck--and though she feels for the blind girl, she knows there's little she can do to assuage her pain, directly. That is, she isn't a healer. She knows just enough first aid to keep someone with moderate injuries up for a short while, especially if it's herself. But this...
SNF medics are going to be earning their keep tonight, that's for sure. Rao's body begins glowing brighter--and Kurenai rubs her eyes, because she must've missed it in the heat hsaze before, if she did in fact miss it... and then there's a flare of power. Really, she isn't going to try and get in on that--so she does as ordered, coming around on the sands, panting with the stress of heat and exhaustion, as that energy pours out, to join up with Raoghnailt.
And she waits, preparing herself for whatever onslaught Diana may visit upon them for... this battle. It's quite the thriller, at least--the people love blood and gore, and Diana is giving them plenty of both. "Hang in there, Raoghnailt... we can still do this!"

The Amazon stands tall, sweat sliding down her body as the two girls go at her. It's not exactly what she had expected. They're quite skilled, but they haven't been pushed enough. Even if, now, she seems to be on top... they could change that with a slip up or two, could they not?
Diana keeps it in mind, though the sight of Raoghnailt, gripping her torso is one that is quite a sight. She certainly doesn't take pain well... and to make matters worse, she's suddenly a pain to look at! She can't keep her eyes on the flare that surrounds the girl. "People like me?" She tries to look, but the energy flashes, and a raw pillar explodes about her. So what was she doing? Diana can't be sure, and stay on the defensive. A storm from inside the pillar ripples out, a blinding flash she can't directly see.
A shower of beams that hammer her, and while she holds her ground, the pain is noticeable. Perhaps the strongest assault she has yet to weather, despite the defensive posture she's taken. Shaking off her arm, the Amazon actually grins. "I was beginning to think you were all bark. There's more to this then than just impressive posturing."
Kurenai's words of wisdom, and belief, do draw the Amazon, though. "You certainly can!" Comes the woman's exclamation, as she suddenly is lunging towards Kurenai, kicking off the ground ... and vanishing. She re-appears, a bit delayed, infront of the girl, pulling the blade backwards before sweeping it towards Kurenai's flank, twisting her leg against the ground. The stiff wind blowing up the dirt she loosens.
To Raoghnailt, things weren't going badly.
They were just going slowly.
The angel of G-Project stands there, facing dead ahead. The attack was draining, to say the least. But it made contact. The girl's power wasn't through talent, no, not in skill. It was innate power, infused through her own genes. She was barely a fighter, in the classic sense. No, as long as she kept her distance, her true power would unfold.
"Yeah! You're right, Kurenai! Keep it up, try and outpace her! I'm going to try something!" Raoghnailt stands still, keeping stationary in active combat. Slowly, she begins to draws her hands in the air in front of her again. Like before, she was drawing another pattern in the air. This time, however, it was much larger, roughly the size of her body. With her left hand, she gave broad strokes, keeping her attention locked on the position of both her ally and their opponent. As she continued, the form of the symbol became more and more clear.
A six-point star

Battles are comprised of a series of moments--strings of beads where each bead represents a decision point, a turning point, and the time between these beads the strand.
The bead for this moment breaks, shattered as Kurenai's decision is made--and her fates cast to the winds. Diana's coming right at her--and just from feeling the power in her strikes, Kurenai knows that fighting a defensive battle is a losing proposition. She is far too powerful for that--action has to be taken.
It's with that in mind that she charges forward, intent on meeting that strike, cutting it short--instead, however, slowed by the sand, it's her that's cut short, the blade whipping like a searing lash across her chest, carving another deep line across the girl's abdomen. She tries to bite down on the cry of pain, but it comes out regardless--
A sharp, hissing cry as she stumbles backwards, off-balance...
While one stood still, the other prepared. It was a classic use of distraction, but Diana wasn't having any of it. After she sweeps in to Kurenai, it's as Kurenai reacts that she knows her fate. The butterfly rapier swoops, the charge began by Kurenai is stopped by the earth itself, along with Diana. Her way is more direct, compared to the dusty soil.
Even the Amazon is sweating now, even if her exertion has been ... lackluster. She really hasn't put much heavy effort into her swings, and it may be obvious. Another cry of pain from the woman she fights, the young girl who tries to act tough, staggering backwards away from her. She doesn't advance though.
The swish of the blade may be heard in the rather silent, save for cameras and crew, desert. "Almost had me." Diana smiles to the girl, "You're all better than I thought to begin with." Her attention is split, however. Raoghnailt is doing.. something, standing still, still Rao has something up her sleeve. Diana isn't quite sure what, however.
A pattern in the air, a larger one. A symbol drawn about her. One that would need to be dealt with immediately.
"Oh, that's certainly a sight... did you hope to get my attention?" The Amazon runs this time, across the ground, lunging towards Rao. Vanishing in a flash of blue. Behind the woman, the blade may bite before the G-Project agent would know it, an arm reaching out to pull the legs out from under her, the blade held against her back, to scrape as she falls, if all goes correctly.

'No,' They said. 'Combat Casting is a terrible feat. By the time you hit late level, those +4 to checks would be useless.' I mean, 8 ranks is all you really need. Besides, what are the odds that you will be fighting someone in melee? If that happened, the fight was as good as over.
Well, they might have that part right.
Raoghnailt shares Kurenai's luck, since she was long ways from sharing her skill. All she needed was a few seconds more, and she could have blasted Diana off the face of the map. Unfortunately, as she began to finish the seal, the fencer was diving in. The flash of blue... isn't for Raoghnailt. The movement is still astoundingly fast, but as Diana teleports, her movement through the chi is like a sonic boom. Raoghnailt visibly flinches when Diana disappears, and when she reappears, she tries to rotate around her seal, using it as a shield. It works, somewhat.
She is lifted, flipped backwards in her own symbol. While it slows down her fall significantly, the resulting explosion is less amusing. A giant beam tears across the desert, ripping a shallow rift in the waste for roughly 30 yards. The beam diffuses further than that, and way off in the horizon, a single giraffe topples. Raoghnailt herself is left helpless to the follow-up slash, and she falls prone to the ground, her muumuu now filthy in grit and blood.
Time is running out, Rao.
Frustrating. That's what this is. Frustrating. But Kurenai doesn't let it show--not even when Rao gets beaten by Diana, rather severely. "Pull it together, Takayanagi," she says, to herself, shaking her head. "Gotta get things turned around..." Her last fight, versus Hotaru... just as difficult a fighter, and yet, she did much better... but she can't dwell on that.
Kurenai shifts her stance again, the blade being laid across her back, over her left shoulder... and then she charges. Both hands grip her weapon as she moves in, shouting, hopefully buying Rao some time to recover as she brings her weapon around in a slashing, circular attack, doing so twice in fact--sweeping the wooden weapon around again.
It's a relatively slow attack, to be sure, and Kurenai well knows Diana's nimbleness by now--but there's no sense in -not- attacking. That will definitely lose them the match...

The massive eruption of energy, even if she manages to get Raoghnailt to the ground, surprises Diana. It's not every day that you see a Giraffe be taken out by such a force. "So whatever you learned that from, you're not exactly good at controlling it, are you?" She asks of Rao, nudging her with a foot as she falls prone to the ground.
"Such a waste in potential. Someone should teach you how to control it." Much like how she helps the NESTs creations learn to live, to function, and most importantly, to fight. Though, even as the girl falls to the ground, the blast was close. She could feel the power behind it. A fortunate situation that she doesn't end up eating it directly on.
Though, Kurenai comes from behind. The blade slams into her twice, swung enough to get the Amazon to stagger, and most importantly, to show wounds. Wincing, The Amazon rolls her shoulders, shaking the limb out. She was struck rather hard, and the chi certainly doesn't make it sting any less.
"Well. Now that you seem to be in fine form, let's get right to the end, shall we? You don't learn anything by just going through the same motions!" Diana pulls back the rapier, holding it straight towards Kurenai. "Let's see just how good you are with that blade."
Even if it /is/ wood.
Her feet hit the ground, a straight dash towards Kurenai, kicking up a cloud of dirt and dust behind her as she suddenly takes to the air, leaping before Kurenai. Butterfly wings sprout behind her, holding her in the air, holding her in that position.
From behind Kurenai, the ground moves. Shooting up behind her, spikes of chi. Tilling the earth. Grinding through it towards Kurenai, to catch her and drag her along the barbs of chi that shoot out, and lead her, skywards, to where Diana rests. Where she would swing to strike the girl, pushed into her assault by the chi, before being sent towards the ground, where Diana would finally land, next to her.
"I'm going to really go hard on you girls now so... Don't be too mad, okay? It's for your own good."
Kurenai does in fact buy Raoghnailt time, and in that, the girl is grateful. The woman's spirit was taking as much of a beating. Controlling the energy wasn't that hard. It was knowing what to do with it. Raoghnailt never learned the power from anyone. Where NESTS deals with cybernetics, G-Project does it's magic with the genes. As Diana lunges to tear Kurenai apart, Raoghnailt perks up. The heat was grinding her down. Her will was being sapped with it. She was tired and now significantly wounded. And yet, she saw something beautiful in the ether. Something inspiring. Strong. Enlightening.
Butterfly wings.
When Diana lands, Raoghnailt will be on top of her. Her cane will be wound back, ready for a broad swipe. It might be enough to conceal her real attack. The angel of G-Project would reach out into Diana's aura, and tap into it. Just draw it to the surface as a single, bright scar. Holding her energy in place, Raoghnailt would promptly touch it again, allowing it to rupture in how most people experience chi.
In a blast of pure energy.

Again, another moment--another bead on the string. Kurenai feels as though her senses are hyperattuned--that she can see, feel, hear, sense things at an accelerated level of understanding. Perhaps it's even true--and she understands one thing, at least. Diana is going to be incredibly hard for them to stop. Even with things moving in slow motion--even with her heightened sense--Diana's attack still almost takes her by surprise.
The spikes of chi thrust her upwards, towards the waiting Diana--but that rapier strike is deflected, directed away, sliding along the hardwood flat of the wooden blade. Of course the bite of that chi cannot be overstated; she's still smarting, pained, as she falls, directing herself away from Diana... and then landing on her feet, wobbling for just a moment.
"I'm alright with this. I still need practice... a lot of practice..." and then she lunges, blade raised to shoulder height... before leading in with her left shoulder, intending to slam it into Diana, to break her guard open--and then, regardless, she begins attacking, throwing short kicks, low and mid-level, interspersed with jabbing thrusts from her 'blade', sheathed in that pink-white life energy.
She is trying to force Diana back, stabbing and kicking, throwing a long series of attacks until she ends with a upwards stab, intent on jabbing her weapon right into Diana's sternum, unleashing a brief, large needle-blast of that chi.

It's time well spent, notably. Rao manages to come down upon Diana the moment she lands, blade deflected, which is a very fortunate time to do it. The woman is forced to resort to extreme measure. The broad cane swipe, and touch, are all not so much seen as simply avoided. The wings do not so much re-appear as they happen to stay with her, now.
They glitter, and they stay, in such a situation. She vanishes as the swing begins. In reality, she's just moving rather fast, blue clothing flapping, afro trailing after her. The camera's may pick it up. The woman is lunged at, despite her speed. The blur suddenly stops, Diana re-thinking her choice. The blade is brought to a stand-still with her own, arms beginning to weather the various assaults, short kicks, jabbing thrusts. All of it begins to wear on her, before the upwards stab, parried, released that needle blast of chi. It digs into her, sends her sliding back.
"That's it... that's perfect. If it was only used for a good cause now."
The wings flutter and she's gone again, appearing finally coming down upon Kurenai, a quick and yet heavy swing, a wide sweeping motion with which she attempts to come down upon the girl with the rapier, before drawing a quick horizontal drag of the blade across her midsection, before shooting out, and away, again.
Well, if she had not had to try before, now is the reverse.
When you are exhausted, what does a smart person do? If the answer was drain yourself further, then congratulations, you are as smart as a member of G-Project! The relentless offense is exhausting the girl further and further, and yet, she is wary about stopping. So far, Diana hasn't taken a chance to counter. and she was dead set on trailing her partner. As the rift explodes, Diana steers clear. Raoghnailt muttered to herself, the blood loss and the heat becoming a bad combination for her stamina.
Struggling, she drags herself forward, she leans on her cane, using to help keep her weight up. Diana's movements were kept well in check; she couldn't hide from Raoghnailt. She begins to pick up speed, shoving herself upwards from her cane. Swinging her whole body around, she rushes at the woman, cane held high. As the tool flashed with the ethereal white light, she swings it hard downwards, attempting to hack diagonally across the den mother's frame.
"Just go down already!"

The slashing strike isn't as successful this time as the last; still, with Diana's power and the whiplike nature of a rapier, it still finds a place to bite into Kurenai's flesh, despite her successful move to shorten the wide stroke, using her weapon. The girl hisses again--but refuses, this time, to show the pain as much, as she thrusts her weapon aside, trying to move Diana's weapon out of line--not only for Raoghnailt's strike but for her own. Is it time to 'end' this? All three are sporting injury... and the fight can still go either way.
So she won't let Raoghnailt go down alone--not out of a sense of cameraderie, though there is actually a bit of that in her thinking, but simply to maximize their chances of winning.
Drawing back a touch, she leaps into the air, aiming to pass over Diana--aiming her yardstick downwards to fire off several stabbing thrusts for Diana's torso as she passes by. A risky manuever--it leaves her open, just due to its nature--but maybe, their combined efforts...

The heat begins to even bother the Amazon, the afro splaying out a bit, hair far too dry due to the current environment, even if it is being bathed in sweat. The G-Project agent is relentless on Diana, however, pulling herself closer, moving closer and swinging her body around, rushing, flashing with the energy. A hard swing downwards.
Unfortunately, Diana is still burning what little energy she has. The strike is seen, and as the rapier comes up to slow it, she kicks upwards, blurring for a moment. Then comes Kurenai, the girl passing over her, the yardstick aimed down. Diana slides, the blur taking a lower pass, leaving Kurenai to pass over.
The opening's seen.
The blur continues, the blueish trail of the wings giving a brief warning to Kurenai as Diana travels towards her, visible moments before the strike as she whips the blade out in a quick strike against the midsection of the girl, coming around with another quick scrape from the other side.
There's not energy wasted on talking.
Diana's agility as been the bane of Raoghnailt for this entire match. Or rather, the hole in her technique. As anyone who has been hit by one of her powerful attacks has told you, a direct hit from the Scottish experiment is staggering. She couldn't back down yet, oh no, even though heat exhaustion was sinking in. The woman might need medical work done, even if she does win.
Raoghnailt still trails after Diana, still acting as white noise for the woman. Confidence, or perhaps she knows that without Kurenai, Raoghnailt would be ripe for the plucking. Raoghnailt focuses on the aura, trying to determine a point of contact. She needed to figure something, anything out. The blur was much simpler for Raoghnailt to target. But for Kurenai, well... Raoghnailt realized, she needed to do this to help her partner. And from there, Raoghanilt knew what she had to do.
Raoghnailt snaps her hand out at Diana, attempting to grip her wrist between her forefinger and her thumb. What the woman was focused on was her aura, and what she was trying to grip was not her physical form, but for the energy underneath. Should she get a grip, she would bring to surface a painful, paralyzing surge of energy. She would then continue to pinch her fingers along her arm, bringing forth more of her chi, trying to release her aura. Once she reached her shoulder, she grip it tight, along the energy to boil forth for a split-second.
And then promptly, she would hurl the woman to the ground, ripping her hand across Diana's arm, allowing the unstable chi to detonate as god intended for chi to do.

Twice-sliced--Kurenai is just about done, to be certain. The girl staggers... and while she -tries- to look peaceful, really, her face is just drawn into a rictus of pain. "I think you're probably the better fighter... for now, at least..." She hisses softly, feeling faint from blood loss and the heat. But she refuses to just go down--though she doesn't normally ilke fighting like that... she believes in putting her all into an effort, but when it 'counts'.
So, for her, this is where it counts, apparently, as she draws her weapon to her back one last time, her legs quivering... of course, Diana is likely to be able to just avoid Kurenai's attack--but she attempts it anyways, putting forth as much effort as she can...
And she slashes at Diana, three times, aiming to swipe that yardstick -through- Diana's body--or as close as she can come with the blunt weapon--her sputtering, pink-white chi flaring around the blade one last time. After the last slash, she simply collapses, wrapping her arms around her sides.

The strikes fly true, and the girl that she strikes hisses. Diana can tell from the sounds the woman makes, it is almost over. That there is not much left in this little foray into the desert. Indeed, it's as the girl strikes once more, that the slash is made with each yard stick, however, each strike is a yard farther from the target. Diana is wasting no time in moving from Kurenai, the strikes rather powerful in nature.
Powerful as they are, she stays far away from them, her own legs beginning to tire. The wings all but fade, fluttering away in a light blue haze. It tires her. Now, she must wear out the last girl. "Powerful... but to push herself in these conditions. She really should take better care of herself."
Diana shakes her head at Kurenai, even if she was quite a fighter. Hopefully this little desert romp won't cool down her hot-streak. The girl was quite skilled to her, even if she was quite above her skill. There are so many, perhaps she has fared better else.
Though, there is another. Her wounds are slowing her down, but she doesn't stop moving. Each movement cools her, wind against her frame, billowing. Yet, Raoughnailt is in motion. Hand snapping outwards, her arm nearly grasped. The woman slips from the blind girl's grasp, instead, keeping her at a distance with the length of a rapier, a few quick leaps back. "You're certainly grabby... I wonder what you keep trying." Diana stops, beginning to walk about Raoughnailt, pacing. "Something is just a bit different from it."
And then, throwing herself forwards, Diana is simply moving. No blur, no leap. The rapier is swung about, but the other arm grasp for Rao, intending to wrench the arm, to get a connection, and to twist her into the ground and slam her against it, rolling the woman onto the hard, but loose, earth.

Diana 0/-------/---====|=====--\-------\0 Raoghnailt
Kurenai's light dims, flickering into a weakened glow. Raoghnailt realized that it was almost over. Raoghnailt had never pushed herself so far into a match, and slowly, the fight was leaving her. She felt like giving up. She actually felt like giving up the match, and walking away. As her attack is once again denied, frustration and broken spirits boil to the surface again. She actually felt like she just wasn't good enough. As he arm drew back, she saw the figure of Diana move for her. She wound her arm back, ready to meet her with a single, powerful swipe. But then, something unexpected happens.
She is grabbed.
There is a crack as the woman hits the ground, the dust lingering in the air as Rao lies there. Her arm was dislocated at the elbow joint, her wounds reopened from the impact of the throw. Pain rushed back through the darkness, with only a pillar of energy standing tall above her. She takes a long, hard breath, and promptly coughs as the dust chokes her. Fighting back the pain, she figured she was down. Helpless. And defeated.
But she wasn't out.
"Nrrraaagh!" Raoghnailt rises up, a spinning pillar of light engulfing her. Great crests of bright chi engulfed it, a bluish-white force carrying her along. Her weapon held out as she whirled through the air gracefully, launching straight into the frame of Diana. If she managed to make contact, the woman would be engulfed in the whirling charge, both the energy and the cane tearing her asunder. And in any case, Raoghnailt would collapse to the ground as the force died down. Not because she was defeated, no.
Because she was too weak to stand.

Diana 0/-------/-======|=======\-------\1 Raoghnailt
Forcing the girl to the ground, dust is launched upwards. Diana closes her eyes for a moment, the crack more than enough to note how the girl took it. It's as she steps backwards that Rao cries out with such a loud voice, light, spinning about her. Crests all around. A bluish-white force causing the weapon, and her, to launch at Diana.
The den mother, and scientist, of NESTs can see all too well the attempt. Rao is tired. Weak. Diana can almost see everything about the assault. The rapier is swung around. Too fast to move away from. The blade directs the cane to the side, and from there, Diana dives forwards, letting Rao pass over, the blade tearing into her as she slides over the tip, Diana staying mostly still.
Rao would collapse for multiple reasons, after the assault, Diana standing tall, wiping the sweat off her brow as she turns to face the girl. "You've got quite a bit of spirit... really had to play keep away with you."
"But really... you're pushing yourself way to hard, hun."
Raoghnailt finds herself on her back, her body paralyzed. She had a great gash in her front. She was bleeding again, only this time badly. She couldn't move. She felt herself passing out, the numbing comfort it would bring feeling like the better choice overall. But then she is roused by Diana's... patronizing? Raoghnailt lays there, quietly. The medical team begins to move, but then, the woman stirs.
With maximum effort, Raoghnailt raises up her hand. A dim, bluish light manifests at her fingertip. Slowly, she draws force the words. A T. An H. All along, she writes a single letter in cursive: 'Thanks.' Her hand lingers for a moment upon the glowing word. And with a gentle, simple motion, she touches the word.
A great explosion of chi erupts out forth to the woman, attempting to launch her away.

As Rao falls to the ground, Diana looks on. The other still had some fight. Wouldn't Rao?
The G-Project woman certainly does. She draws a word, and Diana glances out over, to read it. The single word.
Thanks.
A powerful one at that, since Diana is too close to put distance between her and the explosion of chi that erupts over her, washing over Diana as she raises her arms, dress and hair rustling, charred by the massive explosion. Diana slides against the loose soil, slamming her back into a tree. It hurts all over, finally, and she is rather tired. It's too much to keep continuing.
No need to, however. The girl seems to be down, with the other. Walking forth, she takes a few steps towards the Medical workers. "Take care of them both, will you?" She asks, smiling, "And if you have a bed... they wore me down. I think I could use a rather long rest." She rolls her shoulders. Her body is stiff, and feels heavy.
Victory, perhaps, but not her first. She did these, more, to learn about those who are trying to change the world. "I'd really use some water too." SHe realizes, speaking to herself, as she grabs a bottle and downs it, just letting it fall where it may, holding it over her mouth and letting it fall out.
