SNF 2005.11 - Rugal/Shingo vs Kain/Heavy D!

Description: Another match against Kain and Rugal, now teamed up with Heavy D! and Shingo, respectively. Both Rugal and Heavy D! get the snot kicked out of them, leaving for a rather (anti)dramatic conclusion to the fight. (Winners: Kain & Heavy D!).

There's a full house tonight at the Howard Arena for this evening's live broadcast of Saturday Night Fight. A packed to capacity house as usual for these main events. And what a main event it is tonight. It's almost like /the/ fight of the month. Everyone in the crowd and watching at home has to agree that Geese Howard sure knows how to book a match-up of almost, if not epic proportions. The voices of all the audience members echo throughout the arena giving it a reverberating effect which, thanks to the sound technicians, sounds really really good. The lighting is working as it should and the stage is sent. Vendors are moving up and down the aisles distributing their confectionary and late-comers are hurriedly rushing to their seats. It's getting to be about that time. Then, the music starts to play. The crowd cheers. The show is about to begin.

Music is pumped through the speakers of the arena and the announcer's voice is heard loud and clear even over everything else as he announces the arrival and presence of all four fighters participating in tonight's events. Shingo, in particular, is really living it up. It's been a while since he was last featured in a main event for SNF and so is glad to be back. It shows too. The way he's smiling as bright as the spotlights on him and waving excitedly to all his fans with. The Taiyo student makes his way to his side of the arena floor and awaits for the rest of his fellow fighters to make their way arena-side as well.

So. Round two.
Technically, round three, but the initial match between Kain and Rugal was no one made publically known. And so they enter the fighting ring again, one week after their first match. It seems, perhaps, that Geese likes to see these two pound the crap out of each other. But at the very least, he added some variety into the mix. Something to spice things up a little.
"And on our left siiiiide, we have former host of the King of Fighters, Rugal Bernstein!! And joining him, Shingo Yabuki!!"
He wouldn't have really minded a rematch against Kain only. But he is stuck with the energetic youthful crimson flame-using hopeful tonight, which only means, that he will be fighting another opponent as well besides the Heinlein heir. Which should prove to make things at least a little bit interesting.
Bernstein's walk is calm as he enters the arena, one hand held slightly off to the side, the other slipped into his pocket. As he makes his way towards the high schooler, a small, entertained grin splits over his lips. Shingo Yabuki, eh? Well, hopefully he proves to be a good teammate.
"Mr. Yabuki," He begins, voice calm and controlled, "Let me show you the way to effectively end a fight. You and I will focus on the same enemy in concert. You understand?" As Rugal stops, his feet spread out shoulder-width apart. "If we win this, boy, I will give you my share of the prize money." What need has he for such a small amount of money, after all? For now, he takes a deep breath... and focuses.

COMBATSYS: Rugal focuses on his next action.

Big crowd. Bigger than what D! usually has to fight with during SNF. Then again, it's been ages since he's been in a main event. In any case, the boxer watches his opponents carefully. Rugal, he vaguely remembers. He got his first real international start thanks to him...but still, he's iffy on the guy, if only because he doesn't know much more than that about him. Shingo, meanwhile, gets a good natured wave and a friendly point and salute.

D! then gives a glance back to his opponent. He frowns a little, remembering his last meeting with Kain. One that still makes him wary of Mr. Heinlien today. "Never thought I'd be doing this," he says, shaking his head. For now though, he'll do what needs to be done. Slipping his feet apart, and bringing his fists up tight in a guard, he watches Rugal and Shingo from above his knuckles, waiting for the sound of the bell.

Kain looks over his opponents as he waits at his end of the arena. Not that Rugal is a bad match for him, but fighting the same opponent two weeks in a row? Still, Geese did spice things up a little bit with the addition of partners. Besides, this gives Kain a chance to break the tie that he and Rugal currently have. Preferably doing so in his favor, of course.
He gives a brief nod to Heavy D!, then gestures toward their opponents. No, he hasn't forgotten the boxer, but he doesn't consider their encounters to have been of enough importance for him to spend a long time dwelling on. It was enough to see that the boxer is a competent fighter. "I won't presume to tell you how to fight. Simply do that which you do best, and we'll see just which of these two teams is stronger." A grin flits across his face for a moment as turns his head back to look toward Rugal while the announcer continues. "And on our right side! The current SNF Champion, Kain Heinlein! And joining /him/ tonight is Heavy D!! We're in for a good show this week, folks!"

COMBATSYS: Kain focuses on his next action.

Shingo greets the others when they join him at the stage with his signature grin and wave in addition to personalizing each greeting for each fighter. "Hello Mister Heinlein! Mister D! Good to see you two again." This being the third time for Shingo meeting the German and he lost count how many times he has met the American boxer. The boy's partner for the match, however, he doesn't recall ever meeting before. Despite seeing him around. When Rugal addresses him and makes the offer of them fighting on Rugal's say so he'll get double the money, he simply replies, "All right, Mister Bernstein." Amazingly enough it's not about the money. Perhaps this will be a way for him to improve his skills as a fighter and become better. That is if Rugal really can show him an effective way to win a fight.

Pleasantries taken care of and the fighters all looking like they're ready and 'acquainted', a bell echoes throughout and the match begins. The television commentators begin doing their thing at about the same time that Shingo sprints forward into a jump at Heavy D with a grin and a foot extended outward to catch the man somehow and land -behind- him instead of front where Shingo then throws out a heavy uppercut into his back and finishes it with a heel kick that hits twice as he lefts his leg and then drops it down on the boxer's shoulder. But wait, didn't he say that he was going to let Rugal show him a more effective way to do this? Oh well.

Time for a tie breaker, then. Though all things considered, this will have a slightly uneven edge than a one-on-one would have. That is the only thing that upsets Mister Bernstein tonight. Other than that? He just cracks his neck from side to side, and takes his time to look at both his opponents. Better to get a general idea of how both of them move, for now, rather than to focus on one. "We meet again, Mr. Heinlein. One might thing that they're trying to get us to kill each other, eh?" It's said good naturedly, of course - a light laugh to shrug it off. As to the other man? He gives him, both of them, a deep, respectful bow. "I hope you give us a splendid fight, sir." That is why he's here, after all, for win or lose. To have /fun/.
But then Shingo rushes off. Rugal's eyes narrow faintly, and he frowns - but those lips soon spread upwards into a grin once more, as he nods to Kain. "Let's begin, then!" He follows Shingo's lead. His movements are fast, as he runs low across the ground, keeping his dual-gaze focused on Heavy D! as he sprints across the distance between them. Once close enough, he flips through the air, to deliver a vicious kick to the man's chin as he flies back and away once more.

Well, D! for his troubles managed to take the double teaming well initially. As Rugal and Shingo flip toward him, he's able to bring his arms up and stop the kick from Mr. Bernstein well enough, absorbing the strike on his forearms and letting Rugal rebound away.

Shingo's crossup, however....well, that's a whole different story. Shingo manages to tag D! just as he was recovering from Rugal's kick, and thus ends up drilling the boxer harshly, first with the back kick, then with the uppercut, and finally that double hit heel kick that sends him to the floor. "GNHhh..." Gritting his teeth as he pulls himself up from the mat, he slowly turns and focuses his attention onto Shingo. Considering just how easily Shingo smacked him, priorities shift from trying to see how good Rugal is to instead taking Shingo out of the equation. Pivoting on his knees, the boxer snaps out a hard right hand, trying to drive the fist right into the schoolboy's gut.

Well... If both Rugal and Shingo are going to concentrate on Heavy D!, that leaves Kain with a bit of an opening. He's not above sacrificing a partner if that's what is necessary to win. Of course, he doesn't do such things lightly, even in situations like this. D! seems to be taking care of himself, though, so Kain doesn't hesitate to go on the attack.
While Rugal is flipping away from the boxer after landing his kick, Kain sweeps toward him in an attempt to flank the man, getting underneath him as he moves through the air. And then Kain's foot snaps upwards at an almost painful looking angle, a wave of purple fire trailing behind it as he attempts to drive his foot into Rugal's back, followed by a massive explosion of purple fire.

COMBATSYS: Rugal fails to reflect Schwarze Lanze from Kain with Dark Barrier.

Shingo's gut no esta aqui! Well. Ok it is here since the boy is here as well. But for D's purposes of throwing a hard punch to that part of the schoolboy's anatomy it's not. In it's place is Shingo's right forearm to take one for teh team...and the stomach. Hooray right arm. The punch barely making Shingo flinch at all. Instead he grins at the older man and ducks low to step in past the boxer's guard to get as close as possible.

"Bing!" Shingo stabs his elbow straight at HeavyD's chin and swings it outward to the side to lift the man into the air. "Bang!" Next he jumps forward at the now elevated boxer and slams his shoulder hard into his opponent's gut. Payback for an earlier attempt at his own gut? Nah, this is Shingo here. He doesn't hold grudges, right? Right. "Boom!" Shingo's right arm has recovered from being used to block and swings in hard and fast with the elbow to finish off the three-hit aerial combo that sends HeavyD even higher into the air. Giving Shingo the time he needs to land after the assault. But it doesn't end there folks! Nope! Because the boy then does the first spinkick of his Oboroguruma Mikansei for a fourth and final hit! "Teya!"

Ah, good! This man is rather skillful at reacting swiftly enough, isn't he? Not swiftly enough to counter attacks on both sides though, it would seem. Still, it's commendable that he manages to block Rugal's attack, and R's leader gives a short laughter of enjoyment as he pushes off D's arms, and flips through the air once more, only to land solidly on his feet some distance away. Good, good! It seems that Shingo is busying himself with D for the moment, and so his gaze returns to take a look towards Kain--
Only to see a flame-covered foot smash into his back. He lifts a hand, to slam towards The foot, but he's far, far too slow. The force of the blow is enough to send Rugal staggering - the explosion, enough to make the man fly through the air. He is quick to recover, though, twisting himself in midair and landing in a crouch several feet away from his current attacker. He lifts again, quickly, dusting himself off and raising his hands in preparation for the coming blows. He'll keep himself focused on Kain, for now. And see what the man has in store. For now, Bernstein needs to catch his breath quickly, because that... was quite the hit.

COMBATSYS: HeavyD endures Shingo's Nie Togi.

Geez. It's not D!'s day, is it? First, he gets caught full brunt with Shingo's first combo, then his punch is so easily blocked by the schoolboy, only to be followed by yet another fierce combo driving into the boxer. First, the elbow snaps D!"s chin up, tossing his head back, along with the rest of his body. Then, the shoulder block slams into him in mid air. Then the driving elbow, finished off with the finaly spiking spin kick that drives D! into the ground rather painfully. Groaning, the boxer slams into the ground...but he's not there for long. As soon as Shingo lands from his leaping Combo, D!'s ready to dish out the pain. Leaping up as if playing possum, he starts swinging hard at Shingo, powerful hooks and body blows snapping out at the boy before he finally finish off his own combo with a crouching, driving straight right toward his opponent's chest.

Ah, the sensation of a blow landing solidly. It's always so pleasant. When Kain lands a good hit, he /knows/ it. He's not one to stand around gloating over such a thing though, especially not when the fight has just begun. No, Kain still has several more where that came from, and he intends to impress that fact upon Rugal. Shingo and Heavy D! can be left to their own devices. If one of them manages to break away to attack either Kain or Rugal? Great! But for now...?
Kain snaps his foot back to the floor after the explosion, quickly regaining his balance. He doesn't intend to give Rugal much time to recover. While Bernstein is getting up from his crouch, Kain snaps out a quick kick at the other fighter's face, intending to knock him back down. Keeping your opponent off balance is a good way to get them angry, after all. Angry, and making mistakes.

%Ung. Fast punches. Or they would seem that way until Shingo starts meeting D!'s punches with his own hands and elbows. Unlike the fists coming from the boxer, he is using his hands to deflect and generally reduce the hit effectiveness of all the body blows directed at him. From the audience's perspective it looks like he's doing it rather easily, but Shingo knows this isn't necessarily true. It takes effort on his part to avoid the full damage. Lucky him.

At the end of D's assault, Shingo grins again and comments to the man about how his attacks are still as scary as usual. Only reason he had to up his game to not get hit as he has. Apparently the boy learned from his last fight with HeavyD and doesn't want a repeat of it. Shingo grabs a hold of the American's shirt and with a powerful tug lifts the man over his shoulder as he pivots on his bag leg to throwm the black man to the floor. Hard. "Yaaaa!"

He has been thrown off. His rhythm, disturbed by Kain's surprise attack. And so when the other man moves again, Rugal can do very little about it. He's been thrown for a daze by Heinlein's powerful maneuver. So when the white-suited fighter comes rushing at him again, the kick knocks him in the face, right into the ground. His eyes widen, but he doesn't falter to anger quite yet. Frustration, certainly, but he knows - this is a fight he needs to consider carefully, and take seriously. This is no slouch. If anything, Kain has proved himself more than once to be more than skillful.
So, when Rugal falls to the ground, he lands on his hands, bracing himself as he leaps through the air, and away from Heinlein again. He needs a moment, to catch himself, to take a better look, "It seems that you're intent on breaking our tie!" Said with a laugh, though for all his joking, he remains focused. Trying to reassess Kain's movement... from a more direct perspective, this time.

Well...it just isn't D!'s day, is it? As his combo, as deceptive as he tried to make it, is caught and blocked, some frustration sets in. He beat Shingo last time...it was close, but he beat him. So why is he doing so crappily today? Who knows. But he is. And when Shingo tries to lift D! over by his arm over the boy's shoulder, the boxer's bad luck continues to haunt him. He tried to counter with a charged chi-laced punch with his free arm...but alas, it doesn't happen, and he's wrenched down into the ground with a lurch, depositing him onto his back with a hard slam.

Kain returns Rugal's laugh with a grin of his own. "Well, that certainly wouldn't be a bad outcome." This time Rugal does manage to get some distance from Kain, landing well while Kain recovers from his kick. Of course, Kain is perfectly fine with continuing combat at a distance. He holds his hands out to either side, purple fire engulfing them instantly. He then quickly thrusts both hands toward Rugal, palms outward. The flames leap out, forming two balls of fire which spiral around one another as they shoot out from Kain, zooming in toward Rugal.

What an odd match. On one hand you've got Kain doing well against Rugal, nevermind the latter has been mostly attacking HeavyD, and on the other you've got Shingo doing well against HeavyD. Odd, eh? But Shingo's not complaining. He's focused on wanting to hurry up and defeat the boxer so he can go help his partner against the blond German man that they're also up against. At least he was fortunate enough not to get caught by the Rolling Soul Diver. Yay.

To show that he's really glad about that he lets out an audible "Whew!" when D hits the ground and he lets go to hop away. "That was close." But he's not running away. Just giving himself room for... "SHINGO KIIIIICKU!" The backward hop is then switched over into a forward leap with a kick arcking down on HeavyD's head. Well, the side of his head. LAst match it didn't do much, but this time it shall be different!

Duck heads OOC.

"I'm sure--" And then he's cut off, as the flames leap towards him. His hands lift, but it's more powerful than he anticipated. The projectile SLAMS into Bernstein, sending him flying far and away from his attacker. Taking a sharp inhalation has pain overcomes him, he focuses his mind in mid-flight, and presses his feet solidly against the walls of the arena as he impacts against them. Tensing, he releases pressure once more as he goes flying towards Kain once more. Only he doesn't land quite yet. Instead, chi flares around his arms as he gets closer to the Heinlein heir, and as soon as his ascent carries him over Kain, Rugal lashes out, both arms snapping forward in a cross as a giant wave of blue-white chi is unleashed from his arms, to smash right into his opponent from above.

Well, it's a small miracle that D! wasn't completely KOed from the throw. And it's another one that, considering his luck this match, the Shingo kick didn't end up doing the job either. ONe might have expected Shingo's kick to have found one of D!"s blind spots, the one place he couldn't have hoped to guard no matter how hard he tried. As it is, it just meets his arms again, the boxer's guard absorbing the blow. While he's not done yet, D! IS wearing down something fierce. He's gotta pull out something, and NOW. That decided, the boxer charges and goes into yet another fierce barrage of punches, though this time much, much faster and a little more powerful. Will Shingo weather the storm, or will he get caught by the speedy set of punches?

Kain decides to take the direct approach in dealing with the incoming wave of chi from Rugal. Fire engulfs his hands again as he thrusts his arms up toward the descending attack. There's a flare of light as his chi clashes with Rugal's. Unfortunately for Kain, the sheer size of Rugal's attack is a bit too much for him to handle without more preparation. His flames blast a good sized hole through the Kaiser Wave, but the edges of it still crash down over him, leaving wisps of steam rising from him as the energy fades away. Lowering his arms, he nods to Rugal, offering the man another grin. "Well done... But it's going to take a bit more than that."

The correct answer is C) None of the above. Shingo is not really in the mood right now to weather the storm or get smacked around by HeavyD's fists. Unlike the other fights currently in the arena, Shingo has a third option left to him. It's called, "GECCHU!" Ok, technically it's called Tsuki Hiji but details, details. The first punch from HeavyD comes in in the perfect position to hit Shingo. So why doesn't it? Because of interference from an elbow strike the basically knocks the hand away. The 1/16 of second period that follows is quickly filled with Shingo raising his leg and springing out a strong sidethrust kick to HeavyD's less muscled area along his midsection. Shingo falling over in the process. Something he hoped would've happened to his opponent. Ah well. At least he has time to get back up.

The Kaiser Wave is slow, but Rugal made sure to put his focused chi into it. It'll break through - and it does, though much of it is dispersed by Kain's rather skillful manipulation of chi-flame. Flying through the air, Rugal lands only a few steps away from Kain, in a crouch. He's not there for long, though. In a sudden burst of movement, he begins crossing the distance between himself and Heinlein, becoming a virtual blur of motion as he rushes forward... with every intent of moving past the man, with a sudden turn that brings him right into Kain's defenses. "Noted." He's grinning as he crouches, and SPRINGS in a blur, to deliver a vicious golden-chi covered kick to Kain's chin.

Fortune seems to truely smlie down on Shingo today. WHich is unfortunate for D!, since it seems that deposited him right under Fortune's behind on a gassy day. His barrage is stopped short yet again, this time in an even more abrupt way, slamming D! into the ground. While Shingo falls over as well, it's no real consolation for D!, the boxer straining and gasping to simply pull himself up to an upright base. As battered as he is, D! finds no need to hold back, and thus goes all out, as much as he can, swift chi-laced punches blurring out with energy trails shadowing his fists as he drives them at Shingo's face.

Fortune? What is fortune? It's accumulated wealth for some. For others it's plain ol' luck. For Shingo? It's getting hit when he shouldn't have. Like he really shouldn't have. This seems to be a trend when fighting HeavyD. He has to at least get hit against all possible odds. Then again he figures it's karma coming back around for all the times the boxer got hit when he shouldn't have. This attack is definitely the most deceptive that has been used all fight. It shows when Shingo raises his elbow to counter again and gets nailed in the face. Several times. And is knocked to the floor. Got to roll to get back up and grit through the pain. His face burns. And not in the good way. "Heheh. I knew that would happen eventually."

Rugal may have gotten close to Kain, but that doesn't mean he got completely past Kain's defenses. The Heinlein heir quickly crosses his arms as he sees the foot blurring towards him, setting up a guard just in time to stop Rugal's foot in mid swing. The fact that Kain's arms actually shake from the impact testifies to the kind of force that was behind the blow.
Nevertheless, Kain is undaunted. He quickly uncrosses his arms, leaping forward in an attempt to slam both of his palms against Rugal's chest. He drives in with the heels of his palms to do some extra damage, but the force of the impact isn't really what he's going for. It's the flames surrounding his hands, which quickly spread outwards in an attempt to engulf a large part of Rugal's body, that are intended to do the real damage.

COMBATSYS: Rugal fails to interrupt Medium Punch from Kain with Genocide Cutter.

This is not Rugal's day, it seems. He's never been thrown around this harshly before, not even by Kain in their first match. The man seems to be more than a little bit off his groove, as it were, as Kain rushes toward him once more, and all he can do is attempt to counter the man - with a miserable failure of an attempt, that sends him reeling back as the flames explode around him and send him slamming into a wall.
Whatever it was he was attempting to do, didn't go through though, and he slumps to his knees, taking in deep breathes. Eventually, he drags himself up, lifts up his arms, and considers Kain once more. Well. He doesn't see this going over well for him at all, no matter what the outcome. Just let him... stop being in so much pain for a moment.

What's this? D! hit?! GLORY BE, HE HIT! Maybe the momentum is shifting. After Shingo gets caught with the shadowy punches, D! moves in to continue to exploit that opening. Pulling his arm back, he tries to drive his fist downward in a swift overhead punch, hoping to slam Shingo into the ground like the boy had done to him before.

Mercy, of course, is something that Kain has in short supply. When your opponent is down and reeling, that's the best time to keep on hitting them. That in mind, Kain advances on Rugal once more, quickly closing the distance between them. Twisting himself so that his side is facing towards Rugal, Kain gets within attacking distance and lashes out with a kick to the other man's chest, aiming to slam him back against the wall again. And again, if necessary. Rugal's not going to be getting back up during this fight, if Kain can help it.

COMBATSYS: HeavyD successfully hits Shingo with Rock Crush.

D! has renewed vigor?! It would most certainly seem that way, wouldn't it? After doing so poorly earlier in the match he has now struck Shingo not once but two times in succession against the boy's best efforts of negating the attack. The second smashing punch slamming him into the ground when he darts to the left to evade. Only he should've gone to the right and gets caught. "OOMPH!" Shingo hits the ground again but executes a perfect recovery roll forward to his feet. His hands shooting out immediately once he gets on his feet to grab D! and yank him off his feet backward with a hard grab and shove to the floor, "Teya!"

COMBATSYS: Kain successfully hits Rugal with Medium Kick.

And mercy isn't something that Rugal asks - from anyone. He is moving slowly now, sluggish due to the fact that he's been repeatedly knocked around by Kain's attacks while, at the same time, only scoring perhaps one somewhat successful blow on the man. Not that it matters. The main event it may be, but Rugal has discerned only one thing from it. He hates working with partners.
And then Kain's kick strikes his chest.
With a solid OOPH, Bernstein goes flying through the air again, smashes a wall again. But he doesn't fall to his knees. Rather, he falls solidly to the ground, on his feet, making a rushing charge towards Kain before leaping in the air with a spinning kick aimed at the man's head. Odds are, after this though? His knees will be finding the ground.

And yet another miracle happens! Despite his usual trouble with tosses like that, D! is able to shimmy back just enough to avoid Shingo's desperate grab at his ankles. With the boy as low as he is, D!'s probably into dangerous territory going after him. Still...what the hell. NOthing ventured, right? Reeling his left arm back, the boxer dips low, trying to take Shingo's head off his shoulders from above the crouched student.

COMBATSYS: Kain interrupts Strong Kick from Rugal with Medium Punch.

Kain's not just going to stand there and let himself be kicked in the face. Flames engulf his hand as Rugal comes flying in, and he twists his body as he attempts to slam his fist into Bernstein as he flies by. He's not quite quick enough to get out of the way, though, so he does get clipped in the shoulder. The sudden change to his balance simply gives him a new course of attack, though: Slamming his flaming fist into the crimelord's torso with enough force to send him crashing right back down to the arena floor.

Shingo likes his head where it is, thank you very much. He's sort of attached to it, you know. Plus, he's pretty certain that Sakura is kind of attached to it as well. At least she was last time he checked. This being the case Shingo has no other choice but to use his crouching position to quickly tuck his head in and roll out of the way past D!'s legs to come up behind the boxer. "Close one!"

Springing to his feet again the boy then just leaps forward at the boxer. And that's it. He just leaps forward. In an effort to spear HeavyD from behind with a forward tackle to drive the man into the ground and hopefully out of this match. Shingo needs this to happen if he has any chance of squeaking out a win against Kain. Hopefully Rugal can last just a bit longer against the heavy chi wielder. "Ike, Shingo!"

Kain doesn't stand for getting kicked in the face so much, but it doesn't really matter. There's something else entirely that drives Rugal beyond his own consciousness, that dulls the pain to just a dull ache as he's hit and sent crashing. It keeps him going this far at least, let's him press his hands against the ground and launch off in a flurry of motion. Not nearly as fast as he used to be, no. But he is still moving, shoving his hand into the ground to rip off a chunk of tile, before rushing towards Kain once more to attack him with a blow to the chest.

COMBATSYS: Rugal can no longer fight.

Alas, this time, it's not meant to be. D!'s luck finally runs out as the boy ends up tackling him down before he can get out of the way. Groaning, he turns back over onto his back. He knows the match is done, at least between him and Shingo...but he's not going without a fight, one big final swing snapped out at Shingo before the boxer falls forward under the weight of his own body.

Getting beaten with a large chunk of stone isn't on Kain's agenda for today. Thankfully, the time it takes to pull back and swing such a heavy weapon gives Kain time to figure out where Rugal is aiming, and he leaps to safety as the leader of R goes staggering past. When Rugal doesn't show any signs of continuing the fight, Kain turns to observe the other two combatants. ...Or one combatant. Shingo and Heavy D! didn't really interfere with his fight much, so he wasn't paying a whole lot of attention.
And now it seems that it's just Kain and Shingo. Well, Kain remembers that Shingo is capable of landing some rather nice kicks, so why give him the chance to do so? While Shingo is getting up from dealing with Heavy D!, Kain is already summoning a large orb of blue chi energy in his hands, flames swirling wildly within it. Kain wastes no time launching it once it's ready, hoping to take the boy out as quickly as possible. There are things to be learned from taking hits, sure... but sometimes it's nice to win /without/ getting beaten up in the process.

What fun is winning without getting beaten up in the process? At least that way you get the feeling that you really earned it. Victory tastes so much better when you can savour it after a great match. That said, Shingo then proceeds to duck under the last wild swing by HeavyD and turns his attention towards Kain. So we meet again...Mister Anderson. Although the roles should be reversed. Much like what happens next.

Shingo turns to challenge Kain knowing that Rugal couldn't hold him off and finds himself staring down a hugenormous ball of flaming chi energy. "...Oh crud." He knows he's got everything to gain and makes an effort to get out of the way. Of course he fails miserably. But at least he gave it a shot. No need to go into the details, but needless to say he got fscked up. Something fierce. But if there's anything that Kain should know about Shingo is that he doesn't go down without a fight.

"SHINGOOOOOOOO!" The boy bursts through the other end of the great ball of fire, his clothing ablaze (but interestingly enough, not his hair) and charging down Kain. The projectile slowed him down some. That and his body is about to give out from battle damage. To heck with that all. He's going to go all the way with a series of punches that end with a smashing shoulder smash!

COMBATSYS: Shingo can no longer fight.

Well, Shingo certainly gets points for that. Kain wasn't really expecting him to just keep going /through/ the attack. So when Shingo comes flying in, Kain is a bit slower to react than he might otherwise be. He tries to step out of the way, but once the first punch lands Shingo's got him.
The blond man gets battered by Shingo's punches, even being forced back a few steps, before the final shoulder smash drives him down to one knee. He does not fall, however, and that makes all the difference. When Shingo's energy is spent, Kain is still able to get back to his feet, and wait to see if the boy can continue. When it becomes apparent that he cannot, the call goes out. "The winners! Kain and Heavy D!!"

COMBATSYS: Kain takes no action.
