Description: [OOC] All the bulletin board posts from the April 2005 Saturday Night Fights.
==============================================================================
SNF Results: April 2, 2005 -- Sat Apr 2 -- Geese
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The following match results were reported. For matches with multiple participants, prize money awarded to each is denoted. For matches with two participants, the loser receives a sum equal to 10% of the winner's prize. Example: If Ryu vs. Ken happens, and Ryu wins 1,000 dollars, Ken gets 100 dollars.
Match 1: Yashiro vs. Marco - Large Clearing - Winner: Double KO ($250 to both fighters)
Match 2: Makoto, Heavy D!, Shingo (3-Way FFA) - Howard Arena - Winner: Makoto ($600). 2nd: Heavy D! ($200). Loser: Shingo ($75)
Match 3: Cammy vs. Shenwoo - In front of Shrine - Winner: Cammy ($600)
Match 4: Leona vs. Gunther - Large Clearing - Winner: Leona ($500)
Match 5: Freeman, Sakura, Megumi (3-Way FFA) - Dream Amusement Park - Winner: Freeman (Special, See Notes). 2nd: Sakura ($250). Loser: Megumi ($75)
Match 6: Cody and Haggar vs. Ryu - Downtown - Winner: Cody & Haggar ($1,000 apiece)
Notes: You'll notice a few trends here; fights involving higher ratio or more famous fighters tend to earn a little more money than normal. Gunther vs. Leona isn't as likely to be a big a draw as Cammy vs. Shenwoo, for example. Also, the winner of an FFA fight usually gets a little more than they would for winning a 1v1 fight.
Freeman would have won $750, but for two things. 1: He fled after the match. 2: He is currently blacklisted from receiving prize money from Howard Enterprises due to reports of attacking SNF crew, attempts at post-match brutality in previous fights, and so on. Freeman may continue to participate in matches but is currently ineligible to get prizes; SNF is "family entertainment", after all.
Reporting Locations helps me flesh this out a bit, too. Thanks to those of you who did so. Also, for future FFA matches please report who all got KOed, and in what order.
Thanks to everyone for reporting promptly. If you all like this sort of weekly summary, please inform me and I will continue to compile them.

Addendum: Prize Money -- Sat Apr 2 -- Geese
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Several people have pointed out it makes no sense for Cody and Haggar to win just a thousand bucks apiece for taking down Ryu, Makoto to just get 600 from a 3-way bout, and so on. They cite things like the fact that real-world boxers and similar paid fighters get more per match. Combined with the fact that competitive fighting is THE big-name sport in MotM's setting, higher payments make sense. I'm too lazy to edit the previous post, so here's a notice:
All prizes in the previous post are hereby Multiplied By Seven (7). What this means is that if Cody and Haggar were to beat Ryu each week for a year, they'd earn $392,000 each -- That's not bad for 56 fights that will take anywhere from 30 seconds to 15 minutes in most cases. It's still not equivalent to the multi-million contracts sports stars make in the real world, but that's /just/ from SNF and it's still a hell of a comfortable annual income. One could increase their earnings even more by participating in tournaments and exhibition (non-SNF) matches. Tournaments'll pay out even higher than SNF does. Exhibition matches pay less than SNF would, but earning 3,500 in an SNF followed by earning 1,000 in an exhibition is still 4,500 dollars. Exhibitions would probably pay about 30-40% of SNF bouts, due to the lower audience attendance meaning there's less profit, meaning there's less prize money to take from the profits to hand out.
All future prize reportings will accurately reflect the fact that as the Fighting Elite of MotM's world, you all are Sports Superstars and would be getting paid about as well as baseball, basketball, etc. pros here in the real world do.

SNF Results: 4-09-2005 -- Sun Apr 10 -- Geese
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Match 1: Yuri vs. Heavy D! -- Sound Beach -- Winner: Double KO ($1,400 to both fighters, normal prize would've been $3,500).
Match 2: Ramon vs. Zaki -- Hangar Rooftop, Airport -- Winner: Zaki ($4,550)
Match 3: Yamazaki and Leona vs. Yashiro and Megumi -- Shrine -- Winner: Yamazaki and Leona ($5250 apiece)
Match 4: Guy vs. Shenwoo -- Chinatown -- Winner: Guy ($4,550)
Match 5: Sakura and Shingo vs. Vice and Freeman with Marco as 'Chaos Element' -- Gedo Street. Winner: Sakura and Shingo ($4,550 apiece). Marco is paid
$3,000 for his job as a 'Chaos Element', see notes. Also, Marco was reportedly KOed by a member of the audience via brick-throwing.
Final Match: Iori vs. Ryu -- Howard Arena -- Winner: Iori ($7,000)
Notes: As you can see, Double KOs do not award a full prize to either person. They didn't lose, but they didn't quite win either, so each gets roughly 40 percent of what a full prize would've been. Also, I introduced a new match type with this SNF: 'Chaos Element.' Silly name, I realize. Basically, in the Sakura/Shingo vs. Freeman/Vice match...Marco served as a neutral disruptor. His task was to attack both teams evenly; i.e. hit a member of one team, then hit a member of the other on his next turn, then back to team 1, then team 2, etc. I will probably continue to use this match type in the future. Chaos Element people are warned to act in a fair manner and not play favorites, or else as I've put it, "there will be consequences."
Further, the involvement of a crowd member in the fight results in another statement: If you interfere with a fight, I might turn out to be nearby and beat the crap out of you. Anyone who takes physical involvement with a match agrees to 'enforcement' of the rules by security, or if I'm there, I just might do the Double Reppuken to your Face thang.
And of course, the losing side in each match gets a sum equal to 10% of the winner's prize. Ryu got $700, Shenwoo got $455, etc.

SNF Results: 4-16-2005 -- Sat Apr 16 -- Geese
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Match 1: Shingo vs. Yashiro -- Southtown Park -- Winner: Double KO ($1,820 to both fighters)
Match 2: Cody vs. Freeman -- A dark alley in Downtown area -- Winner: Cody ($4,550. Freeman receives $0 rather than the usual 10% as he is Blacklisted from prizes for assaulting SNF staff on previous shows.)
Match 3: Sakura & Yun vs. Vanessa & Ramon, with Megumi as Chaos Agent -- Howard Arena -- Winner: Sakura/Yun ($5,000 Apiece). Megumi receives $3,250 for Chaos Agent duties. SEE NOTES as intervention/investigation of this match was requested.
Match 4: Vice & Leona vs. Haggar -- 2v1 Sequential Match -- River Bed -- Winner: Leona & Vice ($5,600 apiece, but Haggar receives $2,000 for outstanding performance in a handicap match, rather than the usual 10%)
Main Event: Athena vs. Ryu -- Dream Amusement Park -- Winner: Ryu ($6,650)
NOTES: As always, the losing team/fighter generally gets 10% of what the winner got, and matches with higher ratio fighters get larger prize totals to award.
Match 3 is unusual. I was asked to investigate the fairness of the Chaos Agent in that match. I will note that Chaos Agents are meant to be mostly fair and their pay is based on fairness, but are not required to be 100% even. Having read a log of the fight, I found Megumi generally behaved in a fair manner and the one action that stood out is justified due to provocation by target.
However, this incident raised several good points that I did not bring up to Marco or Megumi when I appointed them as Chaos Agents in the last two SNFs. As a result, I will be planning to post Chaos Agent 'guidelines for fairness' to this board within 3 or 4 days to clear this up. Neither Agent has violated what I believe to be the spirit of Chaos Agent duties, but I was remiss in not /specifically outlining/ what I expect of them. To note at this point however: I expect Chaos Agents to fight as if trying to score KOs. The full letter of my intent will be clarified very soon, and I apologize for not making it more apparent before this came up.

SNF Signups -- Sat Apr 16 -- Geese
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is an OOC Post. It is with distinct pleasure that I announce after speaking with Hikaru, I have been asked to handle all future SNF booking. I really like booking matches, and most of you seem to enjoy the ones I pick out. At least, I hope that's the case since I get rather excited replies on Public channel when I announce matches.
So I hope this will work out. All SNF concerns now go to me from now on. And my first action as SNF coordinator both ICly and OOCly is to announce Signups for next week's SNF.
Signups for the SNF to take place on April 24, 2005 are open as of the moment this post goes up. The deadline is 8 PM EST on Friday, April 23, 2005.
Sign up in the exact same manner as you previously have. I will get the Signup lists and book matches accordingly. USE THE SIGNUP MACHINE -- NOTHING HAS CHANGED. Repeat, everything on your side of this deal is done the exact same as before. All that's changed is that once the Deadline hits on Friday, I will begin writing up matches and announce them the next day.

SNF Results: 4-23-2005 -- Sat Apr 23 -- Geese
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Match 1: Mai vs. Heavy D! -- Boardwalk -- Winner: Mai ($3,750)
Match 2: Freeman vs. Zaki, with Vanessa as Chaos Agent -- Downstairs, Shanghai Sports Bar -- Winner: Zaki ($4,550), Vanessa receives $1 for Agent services, but see notes.
Match 3: Megumi & Rock vs. Yashiro & Shenwoo -- 2v2 Simultaneous -- Seijyun High Gymnasium -- Winners: Rock & Megumi ($5,550 apiece)
Match 4: Whip vs. Ramon -- Lobby of Geese Tower -- Winner: Whip ($3,500)
Main Event: Leona & Geese vs. Cammy & Sakura -- 2v2 Sequential Elimination -- Howard Arena -- Winners: Double KO (Leona, Cammy, and Sakura receive $3,360. Ryu also receives $3,360, see notes)
Notes: As usual, highly popular fighters get paid a little more than their Ratio would usually imply; Mai gets the extra 250 as a nod to her popularity. The upshot of this is that Heavy D receives an extra...25 dollars, $375 instead of $350.
Vanessa's officially listed pay for Match 2 is actually $3,000, but she really receives $1. This is not due to her being unfair (indeed, I saw the log and she acted generally fair, as the 'published pay' reflects), but due to very shadowy things going on. The actual pay she gets is "$1, and you get to keep living", but all official sources obviously don't say that.
As usual, matches involving multiple fighters tend to pay off notably better than 1v1s of similar talent-level would. And no, 'Ryu receives' in Main Event is not a typo. Started as Geese & Leona, but Ryu replaced me before my turn came up so he gets my share. As it was a Double KO, everyone receives 40% of what they normally would.
Also, people seem to misunderstand what Blacklisting in SNF means. A blacklisted fighter may continue to openly enter SNF. Freeman is Blacklisted, but he does not have to enter in disguise. The bookers will allow blacklisted people to enter, but you simply don't get any prizes. In fact, trying to trick SNF bookers by entering in disguise when blacklisted results in fines being assessed against you for fraud. Not that the people who tend to get blacklisted can or would pay, but SNF staff officially'chides them for their deceit, even though they know it doesn't amount to much of a real effect.
This is done mostly to keep people from having to do too much stress/organization over what should be our Weekly No-Brainer, while still having consequences for actions. I let FUGITIVES AND CRIMINALS onto the show. I let KILLERS onto the show. If murder outside the ring doesn't get you banned, then smacking a cameraman isn't going to either.

SNF Results: 4-30-2005 -- Sat Apr 30 -- Geese
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Match 1: Vanessa vs. Leona -- 1v1 Standard Rules -- Taiyo Dome -- Winner: Leona ($3,750)
Match 2: Vice, Yamazaki, Shinobu, Zaki, and Marco -- 5 Way Free For All (FFA) -- Dream Amusement Park
Places: Vice (5th, $800), Yamazaki (4th, $1,600), Shinobu (Tied For 2nd, $3,000), Marco (Tied For 2nd, $3,000), Zaki (Winner, $8,000)
Main Event: Saishu vs. Ryu -- 1v1 Standard Rules -- Howard Arena -- Winner: Ryu ($7,350)
Notes: Marco and Shinobu tied for Second as Shinobu KOed Marco with her Final Action. Normally 2nd place would have received $4,000, but Double KOs do not get the same prize as staying on your feet does, so each one of them lost $1,000 from the second-place prize. Also, FFA matches tend to earn a little more than 1v1, hence why Zaki got more than Ryu despite Ryu being the obviously much more impressive fighter in matters of pure technical skill. Why it wasn't the Main Event is a result of a moronic booker at SNF who has since been sacked for failing to realize a 'Royal Rumble' sort of fight is more notable than a 1 on 1. Corporate ineptitude at its most obvious!
Chaos Agent rules type was not used this week, as I do not plan on using it every week. I will continue to try and come up with new rules variations to keep things fresh, but I don't want to keep recycling the same gimmick time and time again.
