SNF 2005.10 - Sakura and Shingo vs Geese

Description: Sakura and Shingo get a non-life-or-death rematch against Geese Howard! (Winners: Sakura and Shingo)

Most people don't know it, but tonight's Main Event is a rematch. Geese had fought Shingo and Sakura not long ago, back at 'Geese Bridge' in Metro City. It had resulted in them being thrown off the bridge, but tonight's match looks to be far less vicious in its theme.

As the fighters are announced, as the crowd settles in, Geese is called out first. This draws a lot of boo'ing from the crowd, some of them genuinely disliking him, others having fun going along with what he's claimed is him 'playing a role' for SNF, of being a dastardly villain on TV. Fiction in this case is far kinder than reality, but at least there's lines he probably won't cross on TV...like trying to kill his opponents.

Smug, arrogant, Geese swaggers up to the arena, leaning back and folding his arms to take in the audience's reactions. As he does, Shingo and Sakura will be called out by the announcer, which will certainly draw a large amount of cheering; people like those two, and it's a very clear-cut 'nice people versus a villain' match. Simplistic, but sometimes simple is good for TV entertainment.

"Wow," comments Sakura at the crowd reaction to Geese. She always thought of him as a 'good guy'... he sure seemed that way in real life, anyway! Except for their last fight. Things were different then, and Sakura's convinced that Geese has absolutely no recollection of that event. Geese is so charismatic... why would he lie?
So this? This is just a persona, she convinces herself. She's fought alongside him, against her very own master, and there's no cause for alarm. When her name is called, she gives one last pull on Shingo's sleeve before striding out to the ring. A bright smile across her face, she throws up both hands to her adoring fans, waving excitedly. This is the first time she's been in Howard Arena for a while, after all -- it feels like home, now!
"This is just the biggest rush for me!" she exclaims, smiling back at Geese Howard. Shaking her right fist at him, she beams ecstatically. "I'll give you my best performance yet!"

What is there not to like about Shingo? Smart kid, good fighter, all-around nice and friendly guy, and also good-looking to some if not most. Yep, your typical anime hero. If this were an anime. And if he really were a hero in that sense. Though he has been heroic on several occasions. Many of which included in their little trip to Metro City. The fight between the young couple and Geese there only confirmed what Shingo had heard before from others. Geese Howard wasn't as he seemed. In fact, he was downright a bad man. There's no denying it now. But Shingo isn't going to hold it against him. He believes there's good in everyone and that everyone deserves a second chance. This is why he started attending SNF again once he got back from Metro and took a rest.

Accompanying his girlfriend down to the arena floor, Shingo does what he does best. Grin and wave. He didn't have the heart to tell Sakura that she was wrong about thinking that Geese was the good guy. Plus the whole second chance deal. If he can do it for Vice then he can do the same for Geese. Once standing alongside the girl facing off the owner of Howard Enterprises, Shingo's grin gets wider and he nods to Geese. "Good evening, Mister Howard. This is going to be a tough fight for you! We're much better now than before!" Shingo then gives the man his signature thumbs-up and smiles to Sakura.

"Ha!" Geese is laughing at Shingo. "Better, you say? Growth doesn't exist in a vacuum, kid. And besides, I'm immortal. No matter how good you get, all you can win are temporary victories...and even those will be rare. It's like she said." He's pointing at Sakura, "You'll have to give it your absolute best, or you'll just get trashed! Reppuken!"

Geese swings one arm up high in a pitching motion, sending a massive, blue crescent-wave of chi racing along the stone floor. Its target is Shingo.

... Well, that's reassuring, right? Sakura, once more, repeats to herself that it's just the persona he's putting on. Some of the crowd boos, but there's probably a sizable contingent agreeing with the big man.
But... with the fight now brought to the forefront, she can't spare the attention to think about other details. Once she sees the fireball coming straight for Shingo, Sakura shouts back to him, "I got it!" And she makes a hard dive to the side, breaking into a tumble to put herself between the Reppuken and the boyfriend! When she snaps out of her roll, her hands whip forward, blazing with white-hot intensity as the flames erupt from her extended palms with a cry of 'HADOOOOUKEN!'
A brilliant flash of light occurs, but when it clears - the Hadouken's struggling against the Reppuken, with Sakura on one knee still praying that the condition holds. Both fireballs dwindle in size as they spin against one another, but... in the end they both dwindle into puffs of steam.
And then Sakura takes a loooong, deep breath. "Whew..."

Mai has dropped a connection.

Once Sakura's call to him that she's going to handle the energy projectile thrown at him Shingo nods and replies to her as she zips in front of him, "Gotcha!" She rolls in front of him and he dashes out from behind her smaller form while her hadouken and Geese's reppuken eat each other alive. Unlike the circumstances for Geese, Shingo only has one target to contend with. The big man himself. He wouldn't have it any other way.

The boy literally throws himself at Geese in the form of a blu-garbed arc through the air over anything that may be coming on the ground. "SHINGO KIIIIIICKU!" Regardless of what happens Shingo's main goal here is to keep Geese preoccupied so that Sakura can get her free hits in. It worked very well for them last time. Why not give it another shot? Hopefully the way older fighter won't see the tactic coming. That's just wishful thinking though. Here's hoping he hits. That would be a pleasant secondary benefit of the strategy, no?

Working very well may be a subjective thing. Geese has just enough time to laugh as Sakura opposes his Reppuken...and he stops laughing as it is actually intercepted by her Hadouken. "...Perhaps you have improved."

And then there's a flying Shingo to deal with. Geese grabs Shingo's leg, swinging it upward to leave Shingo's body less protected. His palms go side by side to blast out a quick chi-ray, one that sends Shingo back. "However...your chump boyfriend here leaves a lot to be desired!"

"Chump?" Sakura bristles a bit, at that. But it's not enough to completely ruin her focus or anything. She does frown once she notices him getting utterly slammed in the side by an attack, but what can you do? Shrugging mildly, she rises back to her feet, fists at either side, her elbows at her hips. She knows she's going to need some help in this fight... and she may as well get prepared now!
"Haaaa...." she intones, as a pale blue cyclone whips around her, sending her skirt and headband into fluttering disarray. She keeps her eyes on Geese, wary of anything he might be attempting while Shingo seems to be keeping him occupied.

COMBATSYS: Sakura gathers her will.

A chump. Eh, Shingo has been called worse. Most if not all insults affect him much like rain falling on a duck's back. Rolls right off. Not to be confused with Duck. Whom is not duck-like at all. As compared to Howard the Duck. Who is in no way related to the man Shingo and Sakura are currently fighting, Geese Howard. The same man that just caught and blasted Shingo out of his signature move. What else is new? At least he wasn't blasted out of a jeep again.

Grunting, he pushes up to his feet and turns once more to face Geese. Shingo dusts himself and grins calling to the man, "Ok, Mister Howard. Let's give this another shot! SHINGO KIIIIICKU!" Second time! Go for another counter move, Geese. You know you want to. Use all your energy on the boy. Come on. Be a man.

"Chump." Geese is laughing, and he probably shouldn't be. "I called him a chump, because..." This time, he tries to brush the Shingo Kick aside instead of outright punishing Shingo for his attempt. No such luck, the hook hooks over his defense and strikes him in the jaw to make him stagger back. "Ha! Perhaps you've improved too, but...you're still a chump!" An overhead chop is swung down at Shingo's collarbone.

"Wow, you're so hard on us, Mr. Howard..." quips Sakura as she's allowed to complete her power-up procedure. Mind... not that it's going to =do= a whole heck of a lot. Sakura takes a couple loping strides towards Geese, though she's favoring her right side -- a good deal of that blue energy just hadn't strayed very far from her now-opened hands. The swirling ball of energy takes a bit more time to coalesce into a perfect sphere, due to her walking -- but once she's placed Geese at the fulcrum, with her and Shingo at either leg of a 'V' shape, she steadies her stance and whips her hands forward. A barrel-sized mass of blue flame hurtles towards Geese: once more, in case he's forgotten, it's announced: "HADOOOOOUKEN!"

At least Shingo got him to admit that he improved as well. The boy knew that second time around the Shingo Kick would succeed. There was no doubt in his mind that it wouldn't. He's going along with all his first instincts. That includes instead of defending or making an attempt to get out of the way. Both of which weren't looking too favourable for him, Shingo figures that turnabout is fair play and stops the chop with an upward block of his forearm. A small chuckle comes from him. Then a loud shout of, "GECCHU!" Like lightning he brings his leg up and shoots it straight out towards Geese's gut. It may not be enough to knock the man down but it serves its purpose of injuring him. The impact of Shingo's kick meeting the veteran fighter's trained muscles causes the boy to fall back onto the ground. However his counter against Geese buys him enough time to get back on his feet. He smirks, "How's that for a chump, Mister Howard?"

Geese was nonetheless kicked back far enough to give Shingo time to get up. On the other hand? It also gives Geese time and distance from the Hadouken. "Not bad. If you got a little better, perhaps you could work for me...Double Reppuken!" Two more pitching gestures create another crescent-wave, this one easily as big as Sakura. It smashes right through her Hadouken, continuing on towards Sakura...

"Don't we kinda already work for you, like, since we're standing here now?" queries Sakura with an upraised finger. Maybe she shouldn't be breaking character to ask this, but hey, it seemed like a good idea at the time! It'll probably be funnier on DVD though.
As for that Double Reppuken that plows through her Hadouken, Sakura chuckles lightly. Even... grinning. Once more, her hands whip to her side -- and once more, she drops to her knee, flicking her wrists forward. The result is a bit different this time, though... when Sakura's cerulean bloom of flame rushes towards the weakened Reppuken, it's the one that continues plowing on through! ... Though... it loses a few layers in the process!

First he gets thrown off a bridge by the man now he gets offered a job position when he gets better? Crazy. Insane, even. Shingo doesn't even have to think about a response to that one. He knows exactly what he's going to say. Just allow him a moment to blink at Geese primarily and then the projectile war erupting between the man named after a water fowl and the girl named after a flower. "Sorry, Mister Howard. I think I'll pass. My mom wants me to go to university first and then become a doctor or a lawyer." With that said time to get back to distracting Geese.

And what better way to do that than with something that's bound to get his attention. "But I don't think this is the right time to talk about job offers. Here I come!" Shingo crosses the ground and gets close and personal to Geese. The boy reaches out with both hands to grab Geese before he can let out another reppuken towards the schoolgirl also in this fight. Clutching the man's clothing in his hands, Shingo yanks the bigger man off balance and into an awaiting shoulder and elbow ram to knock him the other way and into the hadouken tossed out.

Geese could keep doing a fireball war...and it's something he knows he could win. So why do it? Instead, Geese abandons the fireball war, in favor of Shingo. He's going to try a very complex stunt; stopping Shingo's attack, in perfect timing to just barely avoid the Hadouken.

Stupid idea. The Hadouken smashes Geese back surprisingly hard, made worse by his foolish choice to try and 'last second dodge' it. However, despite the pain, he does grab Shingo's arms, and hefts him up...then with a yell of "Too easy!", smashes Shingo down to the floor, and rises slowly. Slowly, but in a measured fashion. He's taking his time.

Whoops. Sakura can't help but smile once she sees her Hadouken do something... even though Shingo seems to be having his own difficulties with Geese. Okay, so that smile fades a bit, whatever. She pretty much knows that getting up close and personal with Geese is going to end up Very Very Badly(tm) for her, and rightfully keeps at a safe distance -- once more pausing to catch her breath. "Keep on him, Shingo! Don't give up!" And just to show how much she supports this particular course of action, she takes a brief moment to gather her strength, a whirlwind whipping into motion around her. She's narrowing her eyes at Geese, though that smile persists just the same. Her determination shows she's got a strategy in mind, but it remains to see whether it can play out.

Smashed to the ground never gets old or boring for Shingo. Painful, sure. But old or boring? Never. Shingo heaves out a deep breath when his back connects with the ground. Hard and how. At least his strategy of getting Geese hit by the hadouken worked. A little too well he might add. Ow. Time to recover now. Shingo rolls along the ground to the side away from Geese and gets up. His position puts Geese right in between the two of them. So they can easily pull off a pincer attack. For now though? Shingo just focuses and watches Geese waiting for when Sakura's ready so they can really get this party started.

Geese could, and should, probably go after Sakura. But he seems to be far more interested in Shingo, pacing after the young man as Shingo rolls around. "Heh heh heh..." Despite the hits he's taken so far, Geese is confident. And with a short leap, he's making a fast kick at Shingo's head, a straight one with the foot held out well ahead of his body.

Grr. Sakura -wants- to get up close and tangle with Geese, but right now... that'd be suicide. And with the way the fight's going, the question of whether she should take on Geese will probably become moot veeeeery shortly.
So she decides to stand back and wait. Gritting her teeth in preparation...
... but she can't just -stand- there! Impatience finally gets the better of her, and she cups her hands to her right side, charging towards Geese. Her footfalls are quiet -- that's why they call 'em 'sneakers!' -- so the Hakyokusaken master might not realize she's changed position until she's right behind him, flicking her wrists forward to unleash a ginormous mushroom-cloud of chi at him. "Hadoooooouken!"

Sakura charges at Geese shouting out 'Hadouken'. That would be his cue to move. Right after he does this. "Stay cool, Shingo. Stay cool." Shingo takes a deep breath as he watches Geese fly through the air at him with a boot to the head. The boy making the clear, decided choice of standing firm and taking the attack like a man. Some would argue like something else. But this is Shingo's story and he says he takes it like a man. The kick knocking him back several steps and causing him to wince. That wasn't as bad as he thought it would be. Time to pay it back in full. With interest.

"Burning..." Shingo gets out the single word low and soft. Yet it's still loud enough for Geese to hear. If it's enough to keep the attention off Sakura then all the better. The boy rears his hand back as far as he can go and then like a spring-loaded launcher, it rockets forward in a hooking motion straight at Geese's head. "SHINGOOOOOO!" Should it hit? Another punch comes in. This time from his left hand in a similar hooking motion. An uppercut to the man's jaw. Three powerful downward punches intent to hammer Geese like a nail come next. Everything finishes off with a rising diagonal up shoulder tackle to the jaw. Behold. The power of self-taught Kusanagi-ryuu kobojutsu. That'll teach your for picking on Shingo.

Geese was fully well reasonable to expect Shingo to get knocked out by his kick. ...He got something far different. Shingo was moved back, but is still up, and incredibly in a very good position to retaliate. Geese lands and is slugged around with a series of fists, and finally a shoulder-ram. However...

...However. Geese can see down at the arena from up here for a second, and sees he will be landing near Sakura as the Hadouken is formed. Right in front of it, it would seem. His wrists cross above his head, and the moment he lands, Geese shouts "Raging Storm!", plowing his hands into the ground.

A massive blue chi-cage forms around him. The most obvious effect is that it completely obliterates the Hadouken. The other effect is a potential one, it may very well reach out far enough to hit Sakura as well.

Well, Sakura didn't have too much chance to get out of the way, with Geese pulling his super jumping bean impression and all that. Terrified, she takes a step backward -- but it's too little too late as the wavefront of Geese's attack completely overwhelms her. Flailing limply as she's knocked into the air, Sakura shudders in a futile attempt to regain control. It doesn't happen, mind, and she finds herself tumbling out of control the instant her body smacks against the ground. Look, she even skipped across the concrete floor! Twice!
Shaking her head weakly as she stops rolling, Sakura pushes herself back to her feet. "Heh-heh... I'm not done yet, Mr. Howard!" Though... there's no telling how long -that- will remain true! Shingo's not mad either. He's ecstatic. He knew that if he used his ultimate technique enough times against Geese that there would be one time that he wouldn't be countered out of it. Though the man did use the attack as a sort of launching pad to make his way over to Sakura and then let loose on her a storm of wind chi that just devoured her hadouken. Should he really feel bad about that? It wasn't exactly his fault that Geese took that action. Sakura knows that, right? Of course she does.

"Neither am I!" Shingo shouts out with Sakura's to Geese. He dashes forward really fast as he can and then leaps the rest of the way there with a powerful jump. "Don't forget about me, Mister Howard!" Shingo shouts out again as he descends down to the hakama-clad fighter with an enzuigiri kick to the skull, "SHINGO KIIIIIIICKU!" "You're going to be." Geese stands from his Raging Storm. "You're going to be quite done in a few minutes..." His words do not match his composure though. Geese is feeling the hits he's taken. As Shingo flies in again, Geese readies his defense...and does so with just enough inattention to let Shingo's foot slip by and strike him in the head. Geese falls to his knees, but seconds later he's clenching a fist, shaking it at Shingo (angrily, unlike the Mighty Dan, of course)...and starting to rise, but it will take a second.

Hrm. Sakura's at a bit of an impasse now. She's still lightly steamed from that Raging Storm... but she can kinda tell that Geese is running out of mojo here. And while she -had- spent the time concentrating on Geese... she's at a complete loss for what to do now that she's in attack range again. Her smile fades, with that realization, but then she remembers her earlier conclusion: shop smart, shop S-Mart.
No, wait, that wasn't it. She couples her hands once more, flickering a glance over to Shingo for one brief instant, before nodding back to Geese. Her hands flood with familiar blue energy, which she then gathers into a sphere and fires off at Geese. She's playing it safe for now with a fairly tame sphere, about the size of a trashcan: "HADOOOOUKEN!"

She can play it safe all she wants. Not Shingo though. He's at the point where he definitely can't hold back on his attacks so he doesn't. He's giving it all he's got to ensure the victory for the young couple. Fortune seemingly smiling on him when his foot escapes the outreached grasp of Geese and nailing him right in the head. A nice change from the previous times the attack was used. Good. That means he can get another hit on Geese if he wants. And want he does.

Shingo lands from his attack and nods back to Sakura. He throws himself back into the fray. Making full use of his strengths. That would be close quarters combat. No kick this time, just a simple hook punch with a lunge and a shout. "Your body is wide open!" Unless the punch is countered in some way, Shingo is able to hop back after the quick punch.

That yell may very well be true; someone's body may be quite undefended. Geese barely gets back to his feet as Sakura creates...yet another Hadouken; clearly her role in this fight was 'ranged support' for Shingo. Geese is barely back up by the time it hits, knocking him off-balance...and he once again tries to defend against Shingo more directly. It doesn't happen, his hook-punch lands and knocks Geese down...

"...Ha! Teamwork. I suppose it can work once in a while...I could keep going," No he couldn't. He's conscious, but there's no way he'd get moving again before the duo could pummel him back down. "But I'm going to let you have this one. Keep it up." For someone who just lost to a pair of young adults with perhaps literally half his skill, Geese seems to be taking it well. Unusually so for someone who was angry earlier in the match.

Artillery fire, that's Sakura indeed. At least in -this- case, anyway, Shingo's much better at the brute strength. Sakura scratches her cheek as Geese goes down without too much of a fuss, loosing a light giggle as she pumps her fist into the air in victory. "Thanks for the match, Mr. Howard!" She glances over to Shingo with a broad smile, knowing full well that =tonight=, at least, they're not getting strangled or tossed off a bridge.

Indeed. The cry of 'Wide Open!' could never be more true than when once again Shingo's attack slips past Geese's defenses and strikes the man and the boy hops back waiting to see what's next. That and to get out of the way of Sakura's hadouken. Most certainly don't want to get hit by one of those in a team-up match. And what a team they've made tonight. But really, is it any surprise that boyfriend and girlfriend make a great pair of fighters as well as a couple? Shingo grins and has to agree with Sakura. "Yeah, Mister Howard. Awesome fight." The boy is satisfied. Last time victory was snatched when Geese got back up after getting hit by a Phoenix Flamer attack. Now? Now is better. With it all over the medics rush to their boss's aid if he wants it as well as to the 'kids'. As far as everyone concerned, this match is over.
