SNF 2005.10 - Mimiru vs Alma

Description: The Towazu-Kasagi SNF Rivalry, Part Deux! Only this time the lovely Duo Lon and Ash Crimson aren't around to save Alma's bacon. Fortunately for the would-be bishonen, however, that doesn't turn out to be necessary, for Mimiru gets the short end of the stick this time, and Alma walks away with a pretty girl in his arms. Take that, Kasagi family honor! (Winner: Alma)

The turnout for this fight today is actually very impressive for such low-tier fighters. Both the casual SNF watcher and the hardcore fighting fan can find something to enjoy (or at least be amused by) in the bizarre pseudo-rivalry between Alma Towazu, famed wholesome teen idol, and Jiro Kasagi, that kid who used to have all those dogs. But add into the mix the lovable underdog Mimiru, and have her face off against her brother's rival: that's almost too much. All sorts of characters have turned out for this battle. Some are giggly girls younger than Mimiru holding a banner for Guess Who; a few older dudes are a bit creepy looking, and are looking at the young girls funny, and, uh, they probably didn't show up to look at Alma -- don't worry, they'll be kicked out shortly. At any rate, this is the Low-Level Fight... of the century!
Alma Towazu is living it up. He certainly hasn't deluded himself into thinking he's a "popular fighter" (though obviously he's popular for other reasons), but there's a certain warm feeling he gets when he brings enjoyment to other people: and though that's not the *reason* why he doesn't worry about winning or losing, he does help him maintain an upbeat attitude. Of course, upbeat, for him, is a slightly less mild smile than usual and perpetually warm eyes; it doesn't affect his expression much. Still, the tall would-be bishonen, alias Wonder Boy, steps forth into a cleared space in the midst of the Pao Pao Cafe, totally comfortable in tan cargo pants and a (*mostly* buttoned; honestly, he doesn't even think about why he doesn't button all the buttons, and you know? even if he does, they just seem to pop out) white dress shirt, reaching up to run a hand through his dashingly unkempt bangs. Life is good, man.
For, as we all know, every day is a beautiful day when you're Alma Towazu.
It does help, though, being ridiculously good-looking.

Go battle of the underdogs!

Not like Alma carries her own troop of fans, but, the irony of this fight, considering how Jiro got his butt handled pretty decently last time because of Alma, and now, the boy's younger sister comes to the rescue to avenge him. Isn't it pitiful for poor Jiro? Mimiru obviously didn't seem to match up her brother's strenght, at least when someone first glances at her. She had so much stress on her shoulder, she had to regain the Kasagi's honor at all cost! This was not a simple fight, it was a fight for honor! And everyone knows this means a lot for Japanese.

As of sort, Mimiru is already waiting for Alma when he actually comes on the scene. The girl's knelt down, one hand idly ruffling and petting her dog's head while the other seems to offer a few little doggie treat to the large Golden Retriever. That canine obviously seems more intimidating than Mimiru herself and, thankfully for Alma, this isn't her oponnent... But then again... Seems like dogs have always been an important thing in the Kasagi's family, eh? Or is it just a coincidence?

Wearing her casual outfit, Mimiru simply straightens herself up as Alma finally arrives and her lips curl into a smile, "If it isn't Wonder Boy... I was pretty surprised to hear you were still fighting after what happened the other week... That's really not nice of you, you know that?"

The audience actually quiets down to listen to what they have to say to each other. This is drama, man. Drama between attractive people who can beat the bejeezus out of each other in flashy ways. It doesn't get much better than this. Even the referee seems a bit hesitant to walk up and get things started, but he's making his way there all the same.
Alma spreads his hands slightly in a tiny shrug, not looking affected by the censure. "Ah, perhaps you're right, imouto-san. The noble thing to do might've been to call off my friends and face Jiro myself. However," he raises a finger, and his smile widens slightly, "your brother did attack me after I had expended a lot of energy maintaining my advantage in a fight, and I couldn't be expending to perform as well as usual. I suppose I could apologize for throwing him, and getting in his way..." He pauses, still basically expressionless. "...but I won't. It was appropriate."
Gosh, that can mean a whole lot of things, can't it. But his smile only widens, enough to make those eyes sparkle again. "But Mimiru, you are under no such restraints. Here I am, ready to go. I hesitate to fight you, but..." And tilting his head to the side, settling back into a relaxed but ready stance, and casting Mimiru a darkly serious yet somehow warm look that causes a few small girls to quietly squeal in the background -- a patented bishonen sideways glance always gets somebody -- "...out of respect, I cannot hold back. I have always told your brother to hold your abilities in more regard, and will make a point of that now."
The referee has finally made it up the stage, and stays some words that nobody is paying attention to. They do notice, though, when he raises the flags. Alma quietly raises his hands and takes a deep breath, centering himself. And as he lets himself being to flow, and feel the rhythm... he can't help but let himself reveal the wide grin he's been keeping in.
~ Whatever happens... this will be *fun*. ~
"Please, imouto-san. Do your best!"

Still by her side, the canine merely gets on all four when Mimiru straightens herself up. Her protector and guardian, Max remains by her side and has his own gaze fixed on Alma... His simple presence seems to be enough to give Mimiru a more intimidating factor, especially since the dog's large enough that he almost reaches up to Mimiru's shoulder with his head.

"My brother does everything for a reason," Mimiru says as she lifts her hands up a bit, getting herself in her defensive stance, preparing herself for the fight to come, "... And considering it was something he did on purpose, I'm pretty sure he had a good reason to do so. No way he'd do that randomly with the guy he's baked cookies with, that's for sure." Mimiru says with firm conviction in her voice.

Her lips then curls into a smile and she says, "I'm not here to get you to apologize for him, I'm going to finish up what he did... Or if he did you up, I'm just going to add on to it." Mimiru's smile only widens for a bit and then she adds, "A shame, it would have been fun if you tried to underestimate me... But do as you will, I'll do your best to kick your butt."

Much like Alma does, Mimiru merely narrows her eyes and she stares at Alma, watching his very movement, watching him concentrate and focus, wairy of his very muscle bulging, awaiting for him to get out of his trance and to come for her. Let's see what his best is like.

COMBATSYS: Mimiru focuses on her next action.

"All sane people do things for a reason," Alma comments with ever-so-slight wryness, even as the flags are coming down and announcing the start of the fight. "As to whether or not they are good reasons--"
"FIGHT!"
Alma is already lunging. He's definitely adapted his stance over the course of his fighting career; he's shifted away from the unique Hiten-Ryu stagger-step style, but he's incorporated it into a more relaxed, more formless, more flowing style, still sometimes moving suddenly and in surprising ways, but giving off an odd sense that even if he's moving incomprehensibly to others, he's hearing some beat in his own head where it all makes sense.
Psycho Power gathers in his hands. It has been growing somewhat paler, and though there are flecks of purple still, it is a refreshing light pink, the color of blooming cherry blossoms, at the moment. His technique is a bit different now too; instead of chopping, he saves excess movement by snapping his hand out in a casting movement. He's been actively improving on his moves recently. And to demonstrate that, he appears to have, maybe unthinkingly, changed the name a bit today...
"Soulfire WAVE!"

COMBATSYS: Mimiru parries Alma's Sacred Wave!

The first rule of jujitsu: Always stay calm. No matter the situation, never lose your concentration and do not let stress get a hold of yourself. Be the master of your body and do not let fear paralyze your movements.

Despite the fact Mimiru knows her enemy for this battle is obviously stronger than her, she will not fail. She cannot. This is for honor. She will not flinch either. She must give it her best, just like in every other sports. Even as Alma lunges at her and screams the begining of the fight, Mimiru's muscles don't bulge in the slightest. She merely stands there and she keeps her gaze focused on Alma, remaining calm and serene, aware of everything around her and perfectly certain of what is to come. In fact, it's that serenity and through quick thinking that she manages to read through her oponent. It's not the first time she sees Alma fight and somehow, perhaps due to feminine intuition, Mimiru's pretty sure of what is to come. As if she just managed to read through the first page of Alma's book and that he was going to do what he just did.

As of sort, Mimiru can just simply prepare her defense and offense all the better. She counter-dashes toward Alma! Right into the blast of psycho energy! And just at the last moment, she swiftly avoids the incoming blast, not even losing her dashing momemtum in the process. In fact, the energy barely grazed her, so much that for a second, everyone may have been fooled and believed Mimiru actually got it, but she did not.

And so, the girl rushes right on Alma, both hands attempting to grasp the man's right arm. If she suceeds to grapple him, she'll merely turn around on her heels, pulling on Alma's arm and using her legs to prevent his body from following fully... And if she suceeds, she'll merely just force Alma to swing around her and then impact against the ground rather roughly.

COMBATSYS: Alma blocks Mimiru's Uki Goshi EX.

"Hmph!"
It's a mixed sound of surprise and grunt of effort as Mimiru evades Alma's signature attack and gets ahold of his arm before he can react. He's twisted, but quickly slams his left hand onto her small arms and jams the attack, preventing her from throwing him completely. He fades back as if to attempt to break free, but it's a feint: he suddenly rushes forward, threatening to bear her down with his superior size even as he lashes out with a oddly staggered yet powerful low kick that aims to knock the girl's feet out from under her and send her to the ground.
~ To avoid my attack so completely... I haven't misjudged her at all! ~

COMBATSYS: Mimiru fails to counter Light Kick from Alma with The Phoenix's Talons.

And since Alma's on the ground, better use this opportunity to simply apply for pressure on Alma's arm, merely to force him into a disavantageous position, where Mimiru'll be able to lock him into a submission. Unfortunately, she does not seem fast enough to actually pull out her move and Alma's foot actually catches her by surprise as the low kick causes her to lose her balance and stumble down on the ground, letting go of Alma's arm.

There's no holding back now! This would be a great opportunity to hit Mimiru while she's prone, but for whatever reason -- perhaps he's just a gentleman -- he leaps back instead, giving her room...
...and then seems to hang in midair for a split second, before, with a sudden burst of flames, shooting forward at Mimiru again. Wow, forget that gentleman part, he's really going to go all out against her. It certainly fooled some of the audience, at least; they startle as his right leg ignites and he blurs forward in a flying hooking kick at his opponent's body, surging with reverse momentum that could only be inspired by Psycho Power.
"Staaaaar... Shooting!"

COMBATSYS: Alma successfully hits Mimiru with Engeki Shooter.

So much for the actual revenge. At least things don't seem to be doing too well for Mimiru. She barely has the time to get back on her feet that Alma's flying kick hits her right in the belly. The girl lets out a screech of pain and, were it in slow motion, one would even be able perhaps to see the little beads of sweat and/or saliva being knocked all over with the impact of the kick.

The little girl manages to do a good foot or two in midair before she actually gets her legs low enough to stop herself. She glides on the ground, feet hooking her down and the friction stopping the force that hurled her backward and, Mimiru barely takes a few second to clench her stomach with one arm before she leaps on Alma again. She lets a growl and with a slight shout, perhaps to empower her own attack or merely for psychological warfare, Mimiru lunges on wonder boy and she attempts to hit him back with her palm open up.

If she manages to touch him, a burst of chi energy will be unleashed at the apex of her strike, just so that it actually adds on to the power of her attack.

COMBATSYS: Mimiru successfully hits Alma with The Angel's Palm.

The reaction from the audience is mixed, but whatever the case, they're all very excited. In fact, they're surprisingly divided for such a low-tier fight: there are a lot of established Alma fans and established Mimiru fans already, and they glower at each other as they either cheer or boo Alma for his actions. But he feels nothing but the surge of the fight, and the Rightness that he meets another spirit in combat--
Oh, and he also feels a shock of pain as Mimiru's palm slaps into his chest.
His unyielding chest, perhaps I should say. His aura flickers into existence for a moment, absorbing her chi output, and for a moment, the young man just stares down at the younger girl, before quirking an eyebrow slightly. "You'll have to do better than that," he says gently, almost reproachfully, before bobbing, weaving, and unleashing a rapid series of powerful punches. The sound of their passage through the air is audible even to the audience.

COMBATSYS: Mimiru fails to counter Strong Punch from Alma with Ippon Seoi Nage.

A serie of punches. Nothing Mimiru can't take care of. The little girl actually staggers back, dancing along with Alma and avoiding the first one or two. Though when she tries to pull up her own move and stop the flurry of blows, she happens to fail to get a hold of Alma's arm, and in the process, she just also fails to actually dodge the incoming punch. And with one punch, it just makes one's attention a bit less 'there' than usual and so, Mimiru just gets to be the victim of the other punches as well. Poor little girl.

If Alma keeps up the pressure, he can win. If he lets her slip out of his grasp now, it's not too late for this to turn around completely. One lucky move on her part and...
With this in mind, Alma, so soon already, moves in for the finishing strike. Continuing his chain of punches, letting all his moves flow to become one single combination as his Hiten-Ryu instructor taught him long ago, an explosion surrounds Alma's fists with wreathes of flame, and leaving trailing images of himself behind him, he attacks with a series of fierce and blazing fast punches that give new meaning to the word "rapidfire".
His eyes glow as he attacks with the torrent of blows. He said he wouldn't hold back, and he won't.

Don't expect Mimiru to let herself be beaten like a rag doll without actually countering or doing something in some matter! After the couple of punches, even though she's obviously dizzy, she growls and she swiftly gets back in the hang of it. She avoids those series of blazing punches, ducking about and spinning around to actually rush through behind Alma. Just slippery like an eel this little girl, not allowing the powered fist to hit her even once.

Once she manages to get behind Alma, the girl attempts to wrap her hands around Alma's waist and she clings to his back tightly. And then, with a scream, she uses all the strenght she has to actually lift Alma up his feet and hurl him over her head, slamming him down to the ground behind her, suplex style.

COMBATSYS: Mimiru successfully hits Alma with German Suplex.

Alma stumbles, eyes wide, as his fastest attack fails to connect. "Tch..."
~ Where'd she-- ~
It's too late for him to get his aura sense back up, after throwing himself fully into that attack. The throw is successful, and Mimiru is actually able to toss the big guy over her head and send him crashing heavily and painfully into the ground. Rough stuff! With a hearty grunt, Alma rolls away, displaying the acrobatic grace he was unable to display while being slamming into the ground, and to the sound of cheers from the Mimiru section, he gets up and, trying to maintain what advantage he has, casts another gout of flame at her to keep her at bay. "Kuuuu... SEI-HA!"
Maybe she'll stay down this time...

After such display of strenght, Mimiru forces herself back to her feet, panting. That might have been a bit reckless of her to use all of her energy like that in such a cruicial moment, but it was a risk she took... Perhaps lack of experience in real battles like this, but in the end, she's just too exhausted to do much of anything but get hit by the incoming wave. It sounds like this is the end, consideirng how Mimiru's body doesn't seem to try to endure the blast, to resist to it and counter her loss of balance. Instead, it just lets itself be pushed by the pressure of the hit and the girl's body just crumble down to the ground. Thud. This is the end, alas.

COMBATSYS: Mimiru takes no action.

In the end, Alma's staying power has overcome Mimiru's superior speed. But Alma has some speed of his own, and he displays it here as he nearly blurs forward, so fast the eye can barely see, to catch Mimiru before she falls. The power fades from his eyes -- the fight is over -- and his gaze is revealed to be soft, caring. Almost affectionate in the gentleness of his movements, the tall fighting model lifts his rival's sister up, cradling her in his arms, and begins to walk to the medics almost before the referee has the quick thinking to call the match a victory for him.
"Imouto-san," the young man says quietly, "maybe some other day, the outcome will be different... but thanks. For fighting so hard."
He looks down at the young girl in his arms, and smiles, genuinely.
Winner: Alma Towazu! The Kasagi family... remains with honor tarnished! What will be the third episode of our tale!? You'll just have to tune in next time, folks, because this fight is finished.

COMBATSYS: Alma has ended the fight here.

Max bites Alma's ass. There. Kasagi's honor has been regained.
