SNF 2005.09 - Megumi vs Shingo Turbo EX Plus

Description: The two Taiyo friends are paired up once again for another battle in SNF. Epic! Almost. (Winner: Megumi)

Often people other than Pacific students will come up to use one of the fields of the highschool's athletics area. This statement couldn't be even more true than today. Where the grassy area and part of the running track have been seized for usage by the coordinating event staff of Saturday Night Fights. Cameras have been set up for recording purposes and the crowd has been acceptably seperated from where the fighters will be engaging in...MORTAL KOMBAT. Except without the 'mortal' part and 'kombat' being spelled as 'combat'.

Like always, Shingo is already here and on time finishing up his warm-up. Part of which included jogging around the track once. Which is really nothing to him with so much energy. His face rivals the brightness of the sun and he waves to his adoring fans as well as the rest of the crowd as he waits for Megumi.

Megumi isn't long in coming. She took a cab, paid, got out, and eventually found the field. Compared to her last two fights, she looks pretty normal this time; no unusual outfits, just her usual stuff, aside from the modification of wearing two wristbands. Shingo's given a quick "Yo" as she shows up, but then her next order of business is going over to the crowd, and picking someone out to give one wristband to. Some young kid'll do fine for that.

With the 'crowd service' done though, she lingers for only a few moments, then walks over towards Shingo. "Alright, ready when you are, I suppose." It's more lively than she has been in some matches in the past, anyway. More casual and expressive.

COMBATSYS: Shingo has started a fight here.

The 'Yo' is answered in kind by Shingo giving Megumi one of his friendly smiles and waving to her, "Hey Megumi, how's it going? Ready for Round 2?" He chuckles as he refers back to the last time they had a SNF match together in which they were each other's opponents. Turns out that they were evenly matched then. Let's see how it turns out this time. Shingo tugs at the blue gloves on his hands. The black Kusanagi ones are home in the wash. That and he figured he'd wear the gloves Sakura made him for this friendly match-up.

He parts his legs into a fighting stance and nods to the pink-haired psion, "O-kay! Here I come! SHINGO KIIIIICKU!" It's his official technique to start off any battle. It'd be like disappointing the crowd and those watching at home if he didn't begin with the signature enzuigiri-like wannabe R.E.D. Kick of his. The boy's shin and leg aimed for more or less the area around Megumi's shoulder. Not only is she a girl, but also his friend. That means there will be no hitting to the face.

COMBATSYS: Shingo successfully hits Megumi with Shingo Kick.

That's fast. Megumi hesitates for a split-second, thinking about how to deal with this. She decides to get out of the way...right as Shingo's already upon her. It's a smashing kick that sends her spinning away due to hitting the shoulder, and one hand goes up to it. It did sting. Not much for verbal replies right now, she instead does another spin, this one intentional. As she goes, her fist is wrapped in red energy and she tries to slam it into Shingo's chest, where the energy will 'explode' outwards if it hits.

COMBATSYS: Shingo blocks Megumi's Crimson Blast.

Megumi           0/-------/---====|===----\-------\0           Shingo

It's not as though Megumi moves with tar on her shoes, either. Shingo almost doesn't have time to react when Megumi is already on him with her hands of glowy glowingness ready to slam it into his pectoral region. There's no way he'd be able to get out of the way quick enough. He knows that much for sure. The male fighter brings his arms up in an 'X' pattern across his chest. Literally a moment before Megumi's 'power' fist makes contact. The explosion of psychic energy that follows causes him to slide back on the grass with a grunt. But at least he didn't get hit by full power.

Shingo lunges forward with a hop. He's no way as fast as Megumi can be, but there's always the chance he can catch her by surprise. A right hand is held back and the boy shouts out, "Body ga..." The fist flies out at Megumi's shoulder area again, looking as though it's about to hit the specific region where the arm meets body, "Amaize!" If she's quick enough to duck it, he continues spinning around and she might be able to catch him while his back is turned.

COMBATSYS: Megumi dodges Shingo's Aragami Mikansei.

Megumi           0/-------/---====|===----\-------\0           Shingo

Megumi makes a wide, sideways jump away from Shingo's fist; going in the direction it's going, but going faster and further. It's enough to get out of the way. Then she starts getting fancy, jumping at Shingo and trying to go over him while inverting in mid-air. The idea here is to get her hands on his collarbone area, and use her momentum to drive him down onto the grass. If it works, she'll swing her legs downward onto his chest to land, and backflip away. Fancy attempts, yes. It all hinges on an 'if', however.

COMBATSYS: Shingo fails to counter Flood Reversal from Megumi with Tsuki Hiji.

Megumi           0/-------/--=====|=====--\-------\0           Shingo

The 'if' it hinging on is -if- Shingo is fast enough to interrupt Megumi's fanciness. Because...he's not. Obviously psychic aikidoka flashiness is superior to good ol' fashioned strength and momentum. Both of which Shingo clearly has. Just maybe not on his technique of reaching up to grab Megumi by her hand and jerk her out of the air into an awaiting elbow drop. The reason it doesn't work might be because that it's kind of hard to hit someone with an elbow drop if they're at a higher elevation than you are, dummy. Live and learn, Shingo. That's all. He is kind of glad she landed on his chest and not his gut. Or else he would be gasping for some air to refill his lungs instead of getting back into his fighting stance.

Megumi springs away from Shingo easily, and while it may seem a little ruthless, she's pressing her advantage. Her right palm thrusts forward, creating a small red ball. It flies out towards Shingo, and once it's pretty close her hand clenches into a fist, making it explode. Trying to catch him before he can get too mobile, it seems.

COMBATSYS: Shingo blocks Megumi's Burst Orb.

Megumi           0/-------/-======|======-\-------\0           Shingo

The orb of ruby psycho power flies towards Shingo just as he slips back into his stance. Unfortunately for Megumi's plan, she wasn't quite as speedy with her follow-up as she would've liked. The advantage is quickly loss when Shingo tucks in his head and holds up his fists in that 'X' shape to shield his body again from the detonation. This one isn't as forceful and he doesn't even move back with a slide. A chuckle comes from him and when he lowers his hands one can see a grin on his face.

"Heheh. Good one. Definitely almost had me. Almost." Shingo holds his position and doesn't make any threatening movements towards his pink-haired schoolmate. Instead he holds out a hand and makes a beckoning gesture towards her. She should know him well enough that it's all in good-natured fun. And while she's thinking on what to do, he directs all his attention on her.

COMBATSYS: Shingo focuses on his next action.

Megumi           0/-------/-======|======-\-------\0           Shingo

Megumi is content to keep her distance for the moment, even as Shingo begins to try and convince her to move in. "I'm getting better than I was before, y'know." It's a casual reply, rather than some sort of loud insistence or 'defense.' And yet...after a short bout of consideration, she takes the offer up, and flings herself towards Shingo headfirst.

Her body twirls through the air, one energy-wrapped fist extended as she sails towards him, aiming to strike at the stomach. Her other hand is prepared to slap down to the ground and let her cartwheel sideways, should she hit successfully in some fashion.

COMBATSYS: Shingo endures Megumi's Crimson Spiral Knuckle.

Megumi           1/-------/=======|=======\=------\1           Shingo

The brown-haired Taiyo student watches Megumi intently as she corckscrews with her palm of pure Psycho Power promising to pound poor Shingo prominently in his abdominal region. Which is exactly what he was waiting for. How can people watching from the crowd tell? The little easily missed detail that he doesn't move could be a clue. It's exactly what he planned even as he grunts through the pain. For Megumi! You have activated Shingo's trap card!

With Focus+Endure in play it means that his next attack is that much harder to avoid, block, or interrupt! He doesn't even give her a half-second to recover from the almost but not quite Psycho Crusher. Before she can cartwheel away to safety Shingo grabs her and pulls her hard into his body. Specifically, his shoulder that he has angled in towards her, "Uriyaaaaa!"

[OOC] Shingo says, "I am easily amused by the fact that in order to use that move, I typed: attack megumi=hat"

COMBATSYS: Shingo successfully hits Megumi with Hatsugane.

Megumi           1/----===/=======|=======\====---\1           Shingo

Megumi kind of expected Shingo to be driven back. When he's not, her cartwheel is interrupted by being grabbed. "Uh?" The sound of surprise. Then there's a loud yell to indicate the sound of 'ouch' quite well. She rolls backwards from being launched away by the shoulder, though it takes a second for her to fully recover. After that however, Megumi's hands come together in front of her, then start to spread out from one another. A sparkling red ball, roughly head-sized, forms. Her hands draw back, then push into it to launch it at Shingo.

COMBATSYS: Megumi successfully hits Shingo with Crimson Comet.

Megumi           1/--=====/=======|=======\=======\1           Shingo

If Megumi was expecting Shingo to go flying back, then she got it. The bowling ball shaped energy projectile accelerates from her body and straight at Shingo's. Inside his head he remembers this one scene from an episode of an anime that was playing this one time when he went into the comic book shop to see if they had any new model figures in stock and almost hears Megumi shout out 'Masenko!' when she fires her Crimson Blast and it blows him away after breaking through his block. This is what happens when he doesn't have Rock around to throw through it again.

Ok. It's getting close to that time. Time to up the game to the next level. Shingo wobbles as he gets back to his feet and grins at his friend, "Ouch. You still hit as hard as always. I like that." Masochist? Maybe. "This also reminds me of last time. Remember?" If she does. Then she'll know what comes next. Shingo breaks into a dash. Running as fast as he can at Megumi. Looking like he's about to literally run her over, "Burning...". If he didn't suddenly leap as high as he possibly could into the air above her. What's he going to do? Well, for starters. He's going to twist his body sharply in the direction of the other fighter, sending it into a super fast spin. His shirt-jacket fluttering in the air. "SHINGOOOOOO!" It seems that he's going to use gravity and rotational force. Shingo rapidly descends at Megumi. Is he going to do some kind of grand body slam? "KIIIIIICKU!" Nope. A leg shoots out from nowhere and comes crashing down towards the girl's shoulder. Hit or miss Shingo lands with the attacking leg stretched out to the side and supporting himself with his other leg bent, toes the only part on the ground, and both hands flat palms down. Dramatic pose. Then he looks in Megumi's direction to see the outcome.

COMBATSYS: Megumi counters Burning Shingo from Shingo with Tornado Slam.

Megumi looks confused as Shingo talks. "Like last time? ...No, I really don't remember." She looks rather apologetic about that, and sounds it, too. Then Shingo's running in. She brings her hands up, returning to a picture-perfect Aikido pose; it's a stance she rarely stays in once the actual fight begins. But she's in it now, expecting a shoulder-ram or wide punch.

Megumi gets neither, but does get a sudden flash of insight the split-second before Shingo leaps. "...There!" His kick is caught at the ankle, and Megumi cleanly, immediately starts spinning. After a few seconds of this, she jumps, flipping over in midair while still holding Shingo's leg, and /plows/ him into the ground of the athletic field, kicking up a bit of grass and dirt. She lingers for a second, then begins to back off...Shingo /should/ be done fighting due to that defensive blow, she thinks. Time to see if she's right...

Done? Does he look like some sort of slab of meat that's served on a plate medium-rare? Oh no. Far from it. Just because getting hammered into a grassy field after being plucked out of the air when using a variation on his ultimate technique would be all that certain people can take, it's not enough for someone like the Shingonaut. There's a couple of seconds of pause before he stirs and pulls himself up. SHINGO STILL FUNCTION. Barely. He's breathing really hard, "Uh...OW. That was really super awesome, Megumi. But...it's not over yet!" Shingo points at her and then clenches his fists and steadies himself. He's ready to continue.

Really. He is. Please ignore the fact that he abruptly stops smiling and looks almost shocked. Right before he wobbles again and falls over doing his best cow impression. Face full of grass. A muffled voice is heard. But only Megumi would hear it. "...Ok. So maybe it is. Great match." A lone hand raises into the air to give her a thumbs-up.

COMBATSYS: Shingo takes no action.

Megumi tenses up, expecting Shingo to attack a little more once he's actually standing. She's about to try a pre-emptive strike when he goes back down again and stays down long enough for her to get the win. Only then does she ease up, and runs over to Shingo, kneeling down beside him. "Oi. You alright? I guess I didn't hit you too hard, but still..."

The thumbs-up is dropped and Shingo pushes up to roll himself over, laughing. "Yeah, I'm fine. That was really cool though. Totally wasn't expecting that to happen. Awesome job." Another quick thumbs-up before he then sits up on the grass rubbing his head and neck. "And nah, it wasn't too hard. Just made me a little dizzy. Or else I would've totally given you a run for your money. Heheheheh." Shingo flashes a grin and sees the crowd cheering and medics starting to move onto the field. "But yeah, you totally earned that win. We should do that again sometime."

"Yeah...you know, I've never had someone grab me while I was upside down," Megumi admits. "Felt kinda weird, but now I know people'll do it." Shingo looks like he wants a few minutes on the ground, so she gets up to let him have that. As far as crowd service goes, she does reach down to grab at one of Shingo's hands. That, she plans to raise up high while thrusting her own fist into the air.

COMBATSYS: Megumi has ended the fight here.
