SNF 2005.08 - Kula vs Haggar

Description: Kula fights Haggar! A mighty epic! Which ends with Goliath on top and David badly broken. (Winner: Haggar)

Saturday! Night! FIIIIIIIIGHT!
Normally, it's near impossible to get a nice, clear space in Chinatown, what with all the busy roads and sidewalks. Today was no exception, and as such there's a bit of a compromise for today's SNF matchup. The roads are blocked off, but the sidewalks remain, with low blocks of concrete placed so that flying fighters won't sail into the still-busy crowds all that often.
The Mayor of Metro City is standing on one end of the blocked road, clutching a paper plate in one hand and chopsticks in the other. He quickly downs his little pre-fight snack - looks like fried pork - balling the plate and chopsticks together and hurling them straight into a nearby garbage can. In the ultimate move of corniness, he thumbs some sauce from his moustache and points toward the camera: "Winners don't litter. Keep your streets clean!" And then he turns toward his opponent.

COMBATSYS: Haggar has started a fight here.

So far, Kula Diamonds fights have been mixed. A speedy/power fight against Rolento that beat her, a pure speed battle against Cammy that beat her, and now tonight's theme seems to be 'David and Goliath'. Tiny girl, HUGE man. Kula's eyes were just wide like dinner plates when she first spotted Haggar. And the teen, showing how influenced she is by news over actual knowlege, was heard asking if she was fighting a baseball player. No way can anybody be that big without taking steroids. ...at least, in her mind, anyway.
The girl adjusts her gloves, her hair already blue and shimmering with ice crystals as she steps into place for the fight, and takes a defensive stance. Before the fight begins, she says softly, pushing away any fear and emotion, "Good luck, sir."

COMBATSYS: Kula has joined the fight here.

I'll have you know that Haggar's manly physique is all-natural! Nobody knows quite how he does it, but theories range from 'pact with dark powers,' 'ten hours a day of working out,' and even 'actually a 4'0" man with muscle chi.' One of these is more likely to be true than the others, but you're not getting any hints. The wrestler faces Kula, wheeling his shoulder. She's small, yes, but Haggar remembers seeing one of her fights... definitely can't judge her on her adorable appearance alone. Still, some chivalry must prevail, and he makes no move toward beginning the fight. "Same to you."
Haggar drops into his stance, feet planted apart, both arms set as if he's about to give someone a warm, though meaty hug.

Chivalry, hm? Kula will have to research this concept. NESTS staff aren't really known for being chivalrous towards female employees. That is, unless said female employees can beat them up without breaking a sweat. The girl shifts her stance some, and as Haggar assumes his fighting position...she waits. ...a minute goes by, and when there's still no charge forward, Kula starts to realize exactly what's going on. The first step has been passed to her, then, and she's happy to take advantage of it.
The girl skates forward, watching Haggar carefully, before suddenly jumping up at him, spinning as one foot extends out, her arms going over her head. The extended leg has a shield of ice form over it from the knee down, encasing her foot. She intends to have the foot connect against Haggar, and then when she lands, the ice shatters and flies up to do some extra damage against him. He's big, so she's not going to start lightly.

Projectiles. Damn it. Haggar pulls his arms up as Kula comes at him, catching the foot quite neatly against all that meat - however, the ice does manage to blast past those arms into him, causing him to stagger backward, almost off-balance. Inwardly groaning with annoyance (and a little jealousy) Mike Haggar drops a bit, one hand on the ground to steady himself, and launches at Kula. He's not going to play around either, and he dives at her in a sort of tackle, though his momentum is leaning upward. Should he manage to grab her, he's going to keep going up, do a flip in the air, and come out of the whole thing in a powerbomb.

COMBATSYS: Haggar successfully hits Kula with Strong Throw.

Kula isn't much of a physical, hand to hand fighter. And people who do fight that way always make her wary. Which is why the girl is off-guard enough to be grabbed and lifted up off the ground. She's expecting something like a slam or a throw, but it's the fact she keeps /rising/ that makes her pause. Unprepared, she's slammed back down, and once the dust clears, the girl is rolling back, coughing a bit and flinching. "...ow." She pushes herself back up, hoping he at least got cold hands from that as she brings one hand up to her mouth. Her new primary objective: Keep him back. She blows, sending a spray of ice at Haggar, trying to keep him off-balance and (more importantly) away from her.

What the hell, his hands got cold from that one. After the slam, Mike Haggar rolls back and away from Kula, but failed to anticipate how quickly she would get back up: Right as he's rising, Kula is now breathing ice at him, causing him to roll back further - this time involuntarily. He comes up, frost forming on his arms and shoulders, a little wobbly, but still in the fight.
Haggar wastes no time - he has to keep this fight in close, dashing at Kula and seeking to grab her again. If he does, he'll go up, leaping far higher than most people would be capable of. And spinning, oh god he's spinning. As he rises (hypothetically), he'll turn Kula around so that when he lands, Kula's upper body will be taking the brunt of the landing. This one might actually make some of the busy people on the sidewalks look to see what's happening.

As if child abuse would look good on the mayor's reputation. Or on the headlines and news channels that evening. Fortunately, Kula isn't completely unprepared this time. As Haggar grabs her, she gives up trying to struggle out of the grip, and instead curls her arms up over her head. She's flipped and spun, but ignores that as she focuses on something else. Making ice. The girl coats herself, head and arms locked in it as she lands, causing shards to go flying in every direction, and the girl seems to slide and roll out of it, reaching to lightly rub a shoulder. She'll have a bruise from it, but it's not too serious. The girl pushes up, and immediately charges forward again to repeat her first attack, jumping up and spinning with an ice-covered foot extended out before landing to send some shards flying up again. It's harder than she's had to work her ice abilities lately, but hopefully that legend is true. The bigger they are...

It's not child abuse when the child is abusing back. Haggar extricates himself from his piledriver's landing swiftly, practically bouncing back out of the way of any of the shards that could have hurt him. He's really going to have to look into this whole... chi thing. That sliding around trick looks useful. When Kula comes at him again, now, he's ready for it. Instead of trying to take the blow - letting some ice get through - he ducks and rolls a bit forward. Kula's kick goes right over him, and he comes up in a spin, both arms extended rigidly, feet pumping to propel him at a dizzying rate.

Kula lands, shards flying up at where Haggar should have been, and twists around, just in time to get a face-full of fist. Ouch. The girl seems to lift off the ground some, and falls back, leaving a nice ice trail behind her as she comes to a stop. Blood trickles down her face, and one eye seems swollen, but the girl gets back up onto her knees, taking some deep breaths. She stays there, hands and knees on the ground, and then suddenly her back arches as she stares fixedly at Haggar. Immediately, a sheet of ice starts flowing out from her, huge spiked columns of ice emerging from the ground, pointed in random directions as it heads towards Haggar. Figuratively speaking, the kid gloves are off.

COMBATSYS: Haggar blocks Kula's Diamond Edge.

Haggar winds down from the spin immediately after hitting. He knows that had to have hurt - his two most famous attacks, one right after the other, she'll probably be down for a while after thOH GOD. He takes a few steps away from the oncoming ice, then crouches, crossing both arms in front of him, and bounding forward to put his own force against the ice. There's a great shattering sound as he crashes through, shards slicing into him here and there and opening a few wounds, especially on his arms, but he comes half-staggering, half-charging out of the cloud of frozen dust at Kula. Frost drifts off of his body in a cloud as he comes at her, with something in his hand - a chunk of ice in steel pipe-like proportions. Blood rushing into his right arm, he aims this right for Kula's side.

COMBATSYS: Kula dodges Haggar's Random Weapon.

Kula takes a few more deep breaths, energy spent as she tries to open her eye bit further. That's going to swell up something awful later, she just knows. She reaches up to touch it, creating a little ice when she does so to help, and then blinks as Haggar comes charging out like a bull armed with a bat. The girl pushes quickly with one foot, sliding herself sideways out of harm's way and spinning some before she stops herself with her hands on the ground again. She twists to extend an arms out towards Haggar as he charges past (mind the ice slick), and a shard of ice forms on her hands, and then extends out like a frozen beam from her hands, aimed at his back.

COMBATSYS: Haggar interrupts Critical Ice from Kula with Quick Double Lariat.

The failed weapon is quickly discarded, and Haggar turns to follow the maneuvering Kula. His boots offer excellent traction on the fast-freezing road, and he darts toward Kula as she wheels around toward his back. Both of his mighty fists come together, and as Kula comes at him with the spike, he presses forward, moving a little to the left and bringing both forearms across Kula's chest. The ice scrapes across his side, though, opening a harsh cut. He wobbles a bit after his strike, though staying on his feet.

Kula is getting rather tired of being smacked around by people. And while people tell her that her emotions only get in the way, it seems anger works pretty well for her. And now the girl is angry. ...she's also having some trouble breathing, but that's a different matter. Something in her chest is poking around the wrong way, but she can't focus attention on that for now. Instead, a bit of ice starts to cover her chest, to keep the pain down as she presses her hands down to the ground again. She grits her teeth, trying to keep her thoughts clear as she once again unleashes columns of ice directed at Haggar. She's tapping reserves she didn't know she had in this fight, but she desperately wants to make her 'family' proud. ...be chivalrous, Haggar, just fall down already.

Chivalry is only important in the beginning of the fight. All those codes, decorum, and the like all focus on the pre- and post-fight. In the fight, when you're a fighter, you give it everything, whether you're sparring with a friend or fighting to save the planet from Rugal. Again.
Haggar is caught off-guard by the return of the columns, and instead of barreling through them manfully, he's caught amongst them, being battered and cut. He really should go down at this point, but he still has something, a scrap to cling to. And he does. Once the columns stop their advance and shatter, Haggar is still standing, pants once again a bit shredded, blood dripping off of the angles of his frame. He doesn't look angry like usual - just determined. He steps forward, seems to fall to a knee, but like before he turns it into a three-point charge. A flare of red light bursts from his right hand as he nears Kula, slamming out at her forehead.

COMBATSYS: Kula dodges Haggar's Giant Swing.

A few more breaths come from Kula as she tries to calm herself down. And she focuses, paying attention to everything around her. The cat yowling down in an alley, the people who have certainly had their attention drawn by now to the fight going on in the street (torn up concrete from ice columns does that), and each step Haggar takes towards her, like a freight train. She can even feel the energy coming off of the fist as it comes towards her. Her eyes blink open, and she jumps, leaping higher in the air than most people would expect the girl to be able to do, landing behind Haggar on her feet, one hand back at her chest as she tries to breathe. She twists around again, sliding backwards away from him as she raises a hand again and blows another flurry of ice shards at him.

After the knockdown blow misses, there's nothing that the big man can do. Haggar is overbalanced, teetering on the edge of conciousness, and not even looking at where the attack is coming from. The ice blast catches him right in the back, frost instantly climbing around his form, blood on his skin painfully freezing from the sharp temperature drop. He flies forward, the frost effect making him look almost like an ice statue. Haggar stops when he hits one of those concrete blocks, cracking it and causing the ice to float off from him in a misty cloud. But still he stirs, barely pushing himself back to his feet. Goosebumps cover his flesh, his lips are a bit blue, but he's still coming. With a bellow, he crosses the distance between himself and Kula in about three long strides, reaching for Kula's arm. Should he grab it, he'll make a quick 360 turn, hurl Kula away from him toward the roadblocks, and then slide uncontrollably on the ice she was just making to crash into the opposite roadblock.

COMBATSYS: Haggar has reached second wind!

Honestly, Kula expected that to work. She's out of breath by the time it ends, and she has to take several deep breaths. By all rights, Haggar should be falling over now. ...any second now. C'mon, fall ov-...oh, crap. Kula tries to get out of the way, but instead finds herself spinning madly out of control as her arm is grabbed, and she's launched into the roadblocks, a rather nasty 'crunch' sound coming from her back as she impacts against the immovable barrier. It takes a second before she manages to roll onto her stomach and peer across the street at Haggar. Okay, vision is going black, that's not good. The girl can only really think of one thing to do. She weakly raises her hand up again, and with one long breath she blows shards up into the air, larger this time to rain down at Haggar's body on the other side. Once she's out of breath, she wobbles and then collapses completely onto the ground, eyes closing.

COMBATSYS: Kula can no longer fight.

As Haggar crashes into the roadblocks, one of those hidden reserves (extra lives maybe) opens up within him, and he manages to turn himself around in time to see oh God more ice. He grunts, pushing back to his feet and half ducking half rolling to keep the majority of the ice shards from slicing him up yet again. After that, he clambers back to his feet, most of the small wounds having closed up, still bleeding here and there, though, and breathing heavily. He barely took this one. Soon it settles in that he's won, and Haggar thrusts one finger into the air. "Yeah!"
