Description: Fresh off of the plane from Korea, the two Tae Kwan Do students face off in a explosive battle in a Japanese park for the Saturday Night Fights! (Winner: Jae Hoon)
Over-eager and over-zealous. That's probably how most people would have described Kim Jae Hoon's decision to sign up for Saturday Night Fight the moment he set foot on Japanese soil. He stepped off the plane, and immediately wanted to make a phone call. Why? The answers are numerous. The first and foremost being that Kim Dong Hwan probably also signed up. The second reason? Well, if he was going to make his debut on the Japanese fighting circuit, he was going to make his debut. The catch? He wasn't the only Korean import, today, nor the only late sign-up. So, in some awful twist of fate, Jae Hoon and May Lee, teammates who may well have been on the same plane to Southtown, are going toe to toe in a Tae Kwon Do showdown.
"Once again, I'm -really- -really- sorry this worked out this way." Dropping his green duffelbag on the ground just outside the fighter's circle. The media and spectatorship has already gathered. "I mean, look on the bright side! We get to show Japan what our Tae Kwon Do is really made of, right? And it's no different than when we spar at home. ... except that now it's for real. ... and the whole world is watching..." Jae Hoon's face distorts in a certain way that suggestions a mixture of guilt and terror. "I'm really sorry."
Cough. One may call that -two- overeager, and overzealous types. Lee Jin Ju, the girl commonly known as May Lee, had done the exact same thing, calling in her entry at the last minute, so... it wasn't -too- much of a shock that the two Koreans were paired against each other, was it? In any event, the match for today was taking place in a wonderful little park, the same park, May Lee taking the time to brush her gloved fingertips against the petals of a nearby sakura tree, the girl wheeling her little cart, with three suitcases seated atop, to the edge of the fighters circle.
Casting a wide smile across the way towards Jae Hoon, she steps into her side of the circle. "Don't worry! It'll just be like the spars back at home!" she assures the other, falling down into a Tae Kwan Do stance. Although... glancing out of the corner of her eye towards the cameras, her smile turns into a bit of a grin as her gaze returns to Jae Hoon, the girl falling into one of her poses. Torso slightly twisted, left elbow crooked with fist held over her belly, her outstretched right hand held at a angle in front of herself, her voice deepening. It's best to put on a show in your debut, mmm?
"You'd best not go easy on me! For -I- am May Lee! The fist of -JUSTICE-!" she cries, curling the outstretched hand into a fist as she withdraws it, ignoring the fact that the announcer had cried "FIGHT!" already. "I will battle you with the very last ounces of my strength, so you'd best do the same!" she cries, leaning back a bit as she gets a self-confident smile upon her lips. Perhaps a bit... much of her, but...new place, cameras rolling... she did feel a bit guilty going through the routine with Jae Hoon, though.

Jae Hoon doesn't react badly to the emergence of May Lee's slightly more confident persona. Quite the contrary. When May Lee the Hero makes her Japan debut, Jae Hoon's penitent scowl turns itself upside down, and the younger son of Kim Kaph Wan cracks a broad, ready smile. "Right. I'll give it one hundread and ten percent. Teammates deserve better than anything less!" For a moment, in the glow of the camera, his teeth even gleam. Just a little bit. Not as much as the elder Kim, but give it time. Jae Hoon doesn't even take a moment to step into his Tae Kwon Do stance. Instead, he rushes straight towards May Lee, taking the offensive to contrast with her preparedness. But Jae Hoon's run is careful, practiced. It's more like a repetition of quick, balanced forward dashes than a sprint. Whatever the case, Jae Hoon closes range almost immediately, sweeping his foot low across his opponent's knees before launching himself straight up into the air and then towards his opponent, kicking downwards in a wide arc. An arc that is peppered with the power of Jae Hoon's specialty: Flames, massive flames, igniting and engulfing his entire leg. He really isn't pulling any punches. Why would he? He knows May Lee's abilities better than anybody. And she is not an opponent to be taken lightly. "Ryuusei Raku!"

May Lee had seen this move before, quite a number of times. Hopping over the low sweep kick with a little hop that brings her legs up beneath herself, she brings her crossed forearms in front of herself to defend against the second portion of the strike... and it hits her, flames and all, knocking the girl down unto her knees, her legs already folded beneath herself, the body of the woman skidding away from Jae Hoon with the force of the blow.
One thing she -had- looked over in the rush of the moment, was just how much that -hurt-.
Nonetheless, May Lee rises to her feet again, her gloves looking a bit scorched, but still usable. "Good blow! But are you ready for mine!?" she calls in her deepened voice, before taking a few steps forward, and launching herself like a bullet towards Jae Hoon, her body nearly level with the ground as she flies through the air, one fist forward, and crackling with energy. "AA-TAAAA!"

"Yeah," says Jae Hoon, just in time to stop the majority of May Lee's darting kick with a quick crouching block. His shins and his elbows do most of the work, here, stopping as much of her assault as he can before pushing her back just a few inches. After that, Jae Hoon's green eyes lift up and over his quickly-erected shield. "You're still faster than me, May Lee, but it isn't always speed that's the most important thing!" As though to illustrate his point, Jae Hoon immediately takes advantage of the momentary gap in fighting to flip forward, dropping another fiery kick charged with a wealth of his own chi right towards May Lee. The Tae Kwon Do prodigy lands in a split, one leg forward and one leg back with both hands balancing him against the pavement as his flames dissipate.

Gabriel has connected.
Gabriel heads OOC.
Big huge gouts of flame were important, too. Eyes widening as she sees the incoming attack, May Lee takes a step back, her feet moving from where they were in her self-confident stance, to a more traditional Tae Kwan Do stance, as she tries to dodge out of the way... to no avail. The flaming foot strikes her, knocking her back a few steps as she pats at the sleeves of her shirt for a moment, dousing the smoulders that threatened to erupt into flame themselves, before they could get the chance.
"Point taken!" May Lee answers, before flipping forward at Jae Hoon. One of her feet seeks to plant itself on his chest, as her other goes to the ground to steady herself.

With that, May Lee indraws a quick breath, before releasing a shout, and dropping her leg from Jae Hoon's chest, to plant her other foot in the spot her foot once was, delivering a incredibly powerful kick towards Jae Hoon's chest, hopefully knocking her opponent backwards and away from herself. Her Beast God Leg manuever. "HAAAAAA!"
Jae Hoon's blue eyes snap wide open as he realizes what May Lee is doing. His thoughts are practically as evident as though he had spoken them directly: That technique? Already? No way! There's no time for Jae Hoon to react or protect himself. He's been outpaced on this one, and May Lee scores a serious hit on her opponent. Jae Hoon slides backwards on his feet, lowering his entire body in a crouch to maintain balance in the face of a devastating kick. He'll feel that in the morning. Once he starts to recover his senses (which he does before he stops sliding, which is less a testament to his cool head and more a testament to how far he's been kicked), the Korean youth leaps straight up, heading for what looks to be empty space. Well, it is. But it's also the top point of a triangle, and at the other end of the triangle is May Lee's shoulder, which is precisely where Jae Hoon's foot is headed as he shoots out of the sky like a lightning bolt. It's his own version of his old man's favorite bicycle kick, with one twist: After a few blows from the feet, Jae Hoon seems to freeze in mid-air, turning once before launching /right/ at May Lee, his leg engulfed in orange flame. "Here's /my/ Hero Kick!"

May Lee couldn't help but cringe a bit when she felt her kick connect like it did. One hundred and ten percent or no, she really -didn't- want to hurt Jae Hoon badly. But thankfully, her teammate was already back on his feet, May Lee dropping her foot back to the ground as she begins to lightly bounce away from Jae Hoon.
Biting her lower lip at his taunt, when he streaks out of the sky... May Lee dodges expertly to one side, opening her mouth to shoot a taunt at him... until she realizes her scarf was on fire. A surprised sort of squeak leaves her as she slaps a hand against the scorching material, and it was when her hand strikes her shoulder where the scarf was, that she realizes that the scarf wasn't the only thing burnt. The flesh beneath her clothes was a bit tender from the attack, as well.
"Not quite fast enough!" she calls out nonetheless, then taking a quick step to cover the distance between herself and her opponent, before bending her knees to hop up into the air, snapping out a foot to strike Jae Hoon in the face then. And yes... she was smiling all the while. Not because she was striking Jae Hoon, but... the thrill of this whole exhibition.

"This is what it's like!" Jae Hoon says, even as May Lee strikes him with her upwards kick. "Fighting on Saturday Night Fight!" Recoiling a few paces and wiping some blood from his lip (nothing, compared to some of the scrapes and bruises he and his brother have put on each other in their own spars), Jae Hoon, too, is clearly as charged up as he can be for this fight. "No wonder Dong Hwan traveled to Japan so soon. This is worth the trip!" Jae Hoon shoots back into the fray, spinning his body to deliver a single rapid kick to May Lee's thigh, an attempt to steal a little bit of her momentum. There's no hostility and only a touch of rivalry in Jae Hoon's voice or actions. When you get down to it, he's just having fun.

And May Lee's response to those words was a dazzling smile in Jae Hoon's direction, one that loses a bit of it's steam when his foot collides with his leg, the woman's body tilting in that direction as the leg stops supporting her weight so easily. But nonetheless, May Lee manages to limp a few paces away from Jae Hoon, settling herself into a traditional Tae Kwan Do stance... with the exception that the stance had her injured leg in the air, the girl giving it a sharp shake to hopefully take care of some of the pain. It didn't quite help much, but it did make the pant leg of her jeans flap about a bit.
"Well, you haven't got any weaker." May Lee says lightly, resettling her leg back on the ground as she watches Jae Hoon then... she doesn't make a offensive move, just... watches him, her body tensing as if she could lunge in any direction possible.

Jae Hoon's foot rises, knee tensing against his chest as he lifts his weight onto one foot, holding himself in a 'ready' position. "You only get weaker when you lose confidence or stop working. And you know me, May Lee." Exhaling sharply, Jae Hoon pauses only for a moment in this stance, still addressing his teammate-turned-temporary-opponent. "With enough hard work, anything is possible." And Jae Hoon seems to want to prove himself right -- which he probably why his entire mass launches forward in one go, delivering a battering assault of kicks to every point on May Lee's torso one after the other. One of Jae Hoon's techniques that isn't inspired by his father. "Shakka Shuu!"

Indeed he does prove himself right. When May Lee sees him coming in, she releases the breath she didn't realize she was holding, bringing her knee up as she brings her elbow down, looking almost like she was cringing... but in reality, she was building momentum for...
Her opponent came in far faster than she was expecting. With a short scream that was more out of surprise, then the pain of the manuever... although the pain did help. In any case, each kick out of the flurry of kicks strikes home, the rest of May Lee's breath escaping her as she staggers backwards, and falls to one knee, lifting up a hand to clutch briefly at her ribcage as she winces in pain. She was hurt, but would she give up?
The answer to that question comes as a determined look settles upon May Lee's face, a bit of a smile quirking up the corners of her lips as she rises again to her feet, and sets herself into a ready posture, her eyes staring directly at Jae Hoon's face.
Jae Hoon exhales again, his flurry complete, and, apparently, in the driver's seat. So to speak, at least. Jae Hoon levels his eyes on May Lee, watching her after their exchange of blows with a mixture of curiousity and, perhaps, concern. Not for her safety or health, though he's probably worried if she's been hurt. No, he's concerned for himself. Heroes aren't in the business of losing, and usually the finest hour is the one that, at first, seems like it might be the last. He's not talking anymore, either. Fun and games have passed; now it's The Zone, or whatever similar cliche you might have. The first sign of his attack are his eyes. Pupils, really; they dilate for just an instant, refocusing on what they're looking at. Which is May Lee's feet, and they had to refocus because, in the space of a second, Jae Hoon got a whole lot closer to them. How else would he get close enough to deliver one straight kick right up into the bottom of May Lee's collar, an attempt to launch her straight up into the air?
Juni has arrived.

Risk big, win big. That was the mantra running through May Lee's mind as she changes her stance, leaning back a little as she gets that utterly confident grin on her lips. Likewise, her pupils begin to dilate as well as in the very instant Jae Hoon snaps the foot up at her collar, May Lee begins to throw herself backwards, preparing...
To take a short trip up into the air, the girl's mind choosing that moment to remind her how similar to her first tournament this was. And as May Lee feels the sensation of flight, her hair whipping up in her face as she stares up at the beautiful summer sky... she smiles. It was a good fight then, and this was a better fight now. It was harder to smile when her body strikes the ground again, her eyes growing a bit distant as she struggles to catch her breath... but nonetheless, she was out of the fight. "Good fight." she manages to gasp, trying to summon the strength to simply lift her hand to wave towards Jae Hoon. She gets it about a few inches off of the ground. "I yield." she adds, her entire body going slack then on the ground, the pain running through her body unable to dim the smile growing wider and wider on her lips.
Jae Hoon's leg hangs in the air for a few moments after May Lee goes down. He's really good at standing on one foot, looks like. After a moment, however, the tae kwon do fighter lowers his foot, and instead takes a few steps May Lee's way. "May Lee! Are you alright? You're not hurt, are you? That last kick looked like it might have fractured the collar bone... I shouldn't have hit you there." Crouching beside his teammate, Jae Hoon reaches out to push at her collar bone gently, making good use of first aid knowledge that he probably has a merit badge for. "I think you're okay. It was a good fight, May Lee."
Was she hurt? May Lee doesn't answer that question except with a weak little chuckle, and turning one of her hands over to give a thumbs up in Jae Hoon's general direction. Yes, as a matter of fact, she was hurt. "I'll be fine in a day or so." May Lee says, giving up on that thumbs up to just lie there, the cheers of the sparse crowd sounding through the area, as Jae Hoon is announced the winner. There wasn't too many people... not only were they a last-minute entry, but they were both almost completely unknown, except to those who followed the Tae Kwan Do circuit. May Lee hoped to change that. "It was a awesome fight, Jae Hoon. Help me up, will you? I think I'm gonna go pass out in the hospital, or something, for a few hours." May Lee says, somewhat brightly considering her condition, the girl lifting up a open hand towards Jae Hoon. The event likely had a medical tent, or something set up nearby... so she just had to make it there.
Jae Hoon throws an arm under May Lee's shoulders, helping her up as requested. "Maybe we'll see if the performance here doesn't turn a few heads... You'll see, May Lee. We're going to show everyone that tae kwon do is the ultimate martial art." He doesn't help her along for far too long, however, before a gurney and a medical team take her off his hands and carry her off to the tent -- and after that, the hospital, at least to get bandaged up and to sleep it off until she's discharged. Jae Hoon, meanwhile, is left behind -- but there may yet be time to catch one more fight, tonight, even if this one he can only watch.
"Ya." was May Lee's only response, before the gurney people come to take her away, ah ha. As the gurney people take her away, however, May Lee sits up in her seat somewhat, and calls out after Jae, pointing a finger towards the edge of the fighting ring, and her little cart with suitcases upon it. "Keep a eye on my things, will you Jae?" she says, before slumping back unto the guerney, allowing them to take her away for the bandaging, and such.
