SNF 2005.08 - [TITLE] Kain vs Terry

Description: Kain and Terry face off in a match for a title championship in SNF. With a somewhat reluctant introduction by everybody's favorite red-haired boxer. (Winner: Kain)

It's like deja vu, all over again. Just a week ago, Terry Bogard was standing at these very same stairs, looking across the arena at the very same person that he is /right now/. But, apparently, the match bookers seem to enjoy this combination, and here they are again.
It's 7pm sharp, and the crowd is roaring their approval at being witness to the first official Saturday Night Fight championship title bout. Foam #1 hands are waving this way and that, those capable of doing so are emitting shrill whistles while everyone elses' voices just blend into a wordless holler. The occasional bag of peanuts makes a flight across a few rows of fight-goers, and beers and hot-dogs are passed down aisles as people settle in for the main event.
With a wave of the referee's hand, the crowd starts to quiet down, but as the red-capped Southtown native starts to stroll down the stairs, there they go again, cheering on the hometown hero as he strides down the steps and to the edge of the center of the ring. The cap is raised off his head long enough to wave to everyone gathered, then the blonde turns to look to the other set of stairs.

While Kain may not have quite the record of past achievements that Terry does, he's still managed to get a sizeable number of fans of his own, so the cheering from the crowd certainly doesn't get any quieter when he enters the ring. Being handsome doesn't hurt when it comes to attracting fans, either. Kain doesn't even make a small gesture like Terry's, though, ignoring the crowd as he makes his way into the arena.
Well... maybe a little bit. A few small trails of purple flame flutter behind Kain as he walks, getting himself warmed up, so to speak, for the fight. And patronizing the fans might be useful, at some point in the future. He's more concerned with the fight ahead. Not for the title, but for a chance to go head-to-head with Terry Bogard again. Their last fight was close, and now the Southtown hero likely has a better knowledge of his moves. Of course, that works the other way, as well. Things could be interesting tonight.

Meanwhile, it would appear as though the announcer is having a bit of difficulty. Or rather, the staff are having a bit of difficulty with the announcer. There's some muffled bickering coming from that general direction, the booth-- plain as day-- housing no more than two guards and one highly agitated redhead. Who, apparently, has been asked to announce the fight in a decidedly... different... outfit. Or at least one that was handed over to her by the officials.

Probably Geese 'making a funny' again.

Of course, the fact that she's in a particularly form-fitting red dress to compliment-- or rather, highly exaggerate-- the auburn hues of her hair is detracted from the moment the guys in charge of ound decide that there's been enough silence in the ring for now.

"--is fucking -stupid-! I agreed to announce, not to be eye-candy for any dipshit who doesn't wanna watch the fight! ...No, I'm -NOT- going t--"

...deer in headlights time.

Standing up straight almost immediately as she hears the echo of her own voice rebound back on her, Vanessa peers around the arena cautiously, looking back towards one of the staffmembers as she hisses "Is this thing -on-?" ...Echo.

...

"Oh, sh--"

Hell with it.

"Ladies and gentlemen!" she calls out, -attempting- to put on a face-saving air of congeniality even though at this point it's futile, "Welcome back to the most talked-about rematch of the week!" ...Not very impressive, but she'll blame the person who gave her the cue cards. ...Oh, well. Could always adlib. "And much as I'm sure you were hoping for something a bit different than the -same- matchup two times in a row, I'm sure these guys'll do what they can to make it a little more entertaining than the -last- bout. Shake things up a little, right boys?"

Uh huh. Sure.

"So without further ado-- Southtown's own legendary wolf, Terry Bogard versus Kain Heinlein! -Fight!-"

...Or... something!

"...That works, right? Can I go now? Change out of th--"

...-dammit-.

"Will someone -please- turn this mic off?"

There's a bit of effort on the part of Terry to stifle a chuckle as he listens to the antics going on amongst the announce booth, accompanied by a mild shake of his head. "Yeah, she's definitely recovered." Bringing his gaze back down from the announce booth to the arena, he tilts his head a bit, popping his neck while cracking the knuckles of his right hand, then his left. "So. Back again already." The brim of the red baseball cap is pulled down a bit to provide a bit of shade for his eyes while a smile makes its way onto his lips. "I hope this fight is as interesting as last week's. I'd hate for you to be disappointed."
At Vanessa's cry of fight, the blonde takes a few strides further into the arena before his feet start slapping in a quick rhythm, rubber against concrete as he charges straight at Kain. While he's charging, he starts to drop his shoulder down, mimicking the opener for the Power Charge... but rather than finishing it, his knees bend and quickly push off the ground, whipping his body around and bringing his back leg around with it, aiming to drive that foot square into Kain's eats.

COMBATSYS: Kain blocks Terry's Fire Kick.

Although Kain's defensive abilities may not be the best in the world, they are quite good, and his reaction times are usually fast. When he sees the shift in Terry's approach he immediately begins moving his own body, hands rising up to catch the foot as it comes in toward his face. He still takes a blow to the chin, but it's from the back of his hands rather than Terry's foot, and so hurts considerably less.
Kain is quick to shove Terry's foot away, hopefully knocking the other fighter off balance. It doesn't need to be for long, because Kain is already swinging his own leg out, twisting his body to send his foot flying up at an angle toward Terry's chin, purple flames trailing in its wake. If that hits successfully, Kain continues his spin around, thrusting one hand out toward Terry and launching a blast of flame aimed to knock the Legendary Wolf off his feet.

Feeling his foot crashing into Kain's palms, Terry's leg is already flexing again, coiled to help push away. When that shove finally comes, he's already spinning with the momentum, and his arms are crossed in an X across his face and chest. He braces his feet down against the arena's floor, getting pushed back a few inches while he's catching the heel of Kain's boot against his forearms.
As that boot smacks against his arm, he sends his right hand down and tries to snatch Kain by the ankle. Should he be lucky enough to manage to get a grip, the ponytailed fighter gives the German a good, hard pull over. With the pull comes the same foot from before, snapping up in an attempt to plant the Chuck Taylor trademark in the sole of his shoe right into the middle of Kain's face.

COMBATSYS: Kain blocks Terry's Grasping Upper.

It seems like footwork is the name of the game, at least for the start of this fight. Kain's ankle gets grabbed, and he's pulled down, but he twists as he hits the ground, rolling with the impact. As for the incoming foot, it's deflected by a quickly raised forearm. The Heinlein heir quickly spins himself around as soon as he's out of the attack, quickly bringing himself to a crouched position.
From there, he hops backwards, getting a few feet between himself and Terry. It won't remain that way for long, though. He begins twisting around as he lands, sparks leaping from his right foot as it moves over the ground. As he completes a full circle he launches himself forward, leaping toward Terry foot first, with flames trailing behind him. If he manages to slam his foot into Terry's chest as planned, the flames then explode out from his foot to engulf Bogard.

COMBATSYS: Kain successfully hits Terry with Schwarzer Stob.

As his foot is shoved away once again, Terry brings it back down to the ground, scuffing a toe against the arena floor for a moment while watching Kain hop back. He tilts his head a bit, then grunts softly as he sharply twists his head the other way, causing his neck to pop again. He settles back down into a crouch as Kain starts to twist about, knees flexing and legs steadying as he braces his heels down against the ground. His arms cross once again as Kain's foot leads the charge, and another grunt passes his lips as said foot slams against him hard enough to drive his arms back against his chest. The flames explode upon impact, and the force is enough to send Terry flying back a good couple feet.
The blonde rolls with the impact against the floor, pitching backwards before he's back up to his feet and rushing right back towards the flame-wielding German. He raises his right fist up, and wisps of blue start to coalesce around said fist as he cocks it back, then drives it forward for the full extension. "BURN KNU..." He overthrows the punch, though, on purpose, using it as a lead-in for a quick forward somersault. As soon as his shoulder blades hit the floor, his right leg comes up, left leg following as he shoves hard off the ground. "RISING TACKLE!" Up comes the right foot, looking to drive it right into the general area of Kain's throat.

COMBATSYS: Kain dodges Terry's Rising Tackle.

Shouting out the name of your moves does tend to lead to telegraphing, something that Kain is well aware of. It does make it a bit easier to focus sometimes, though. Kiai, and all that. Kain tries not to make the mistake of relying on such cues, however, and it serves him well here. He begins pulling his arms into a blocking position, but when Terry springs forward, the German reacts quickly. The Rising Tackle shoots up, but Kain is already taking a step back, causing Terry's swiftly rising foot to brush past Kain's face, a bit too close for comfort.
The proximity has its uses, however. Because while Terry is still in the air, Kain has a chance to retaliate. He flings his arms out to his sides and takes a deep breath as his body erupts in a pillar of fire, with a roar like a furnace as the flames fill up the space immediately around him.

COMBATSYS: Kain successfully hits Terry with Schwarze Kreuz.

Not much you can do, up in the air.. while he's in the midst of righting himself for the landing, the air around him rather abruptly lights aflame, and the body of the denim-clad Bogard, for what seems like the nth time, is coated in a nice layer of painful purple fire. His arms cross over his face, and he rolls backwards a few times, making use of something every grade-schooler knows when it comes to putting out a fire. After the third roll, he hops back up to his feet, breathing just a little heavily. "I swear, I must have been kindling in a past life." A wry chuckle slips out as Terry shakes his head a bit, peering across the way.
There's no dramatic approach this time, only a furrowed brow and a slow, methodical pace forward as he closes some of the space between himself and Kain. The last few steps are used to pick up a bit of speed before he brings his right hand back and up. Rather than take the fancy approach, he attempts to snap a hand up at the last of those accelerated quick-steps, trying to latch a hand onto Kain's shirt. Shoudl he get a grip, he wheels around 180 degrees and hauls Kain right over his shoulder before slamming him into the arena floor.

COMBATSYS: Kain blocks Terry's Buster Throw.

Kain returns Terry's chuckle with a grin, but that's all he allows for now. Just because things seem to be going well is no reason to get distracted. Case in point, as Terry grabs him by the shirt, heaving him up into the air. He's fully ready for the impact, though, striking the ground with the palm of one hand as he comes down and pushing himself into a roll which takes him a short distance away from Terry, and leaves him once again in a crouching position.
Kain doesn't spring up quite as quickly this time, although he certainly doesn't dawdle. It seems he's content to switch to a more metaphysical form of combat for the moment, rather than rushing back in toward Terry. He holds his right hand out to one side, purple flame springing up from his palm. He then whips his arm toward Terry, sending a a ball of the dark fire sailing toward the other man.

COMBATSYS: Terry blocks Kain's Schwarze Flame.

Not particularly in the mood to allow Kain much in the way of breathing room, Terry's moving in right along with the other fighter, keeping the space between them short at best. His eyes are glancing between Kain's hands and his feet, waiting to see which one moves first. When the flames start to come up and around, the red-capped fighter's left arm comes up to settle itself between body and fire, catching the brunt of the flames' assault against his forearm.
With the short space he's given himself and the results so far, the flashy special effects are put aside, and Terry decides to drop back to basics. After the left arm takes the brunt of the flame, his right hand comes down and in while the left lifts, and his fist heads right for Kain's stomach.

COMBATSYS: Terry successfully hits Kain with Medium Punch.

And moving back to simpler tactics appears to be working in Terry's favor, to some degree. Kain's watching to see what Terry is doing after the other man lets the flames wash over him. He's half expecting another feint, which means he doesn't quite fully bring his guard up as the attack comes in. By the time he sees that it's a real one it's too late to stop it, so he tries to turn out of the way. Not fast enough, though, and Terry's hand buries itself in Kain's gut, bringing a grunt of pain from the German.
There's plenty of muscle there, though, to keep the attack from being too devestating. Still, Kain leaps back again, trying to maintain his distance. As he lands he begins pulling his hands back to one side, greenish fire springing up between his palms. "Himmlische..." And then Kain thrusts his hands forward, and the flames expand outwards, forming a massive greenish-blue sphere of roiling chi energy and liquid fire, like a miniature sun.
After a moment, though, the shape begins to wave and twist, a point forming as the energy takes on a more aerodynamic form, becoming a fiery lance. And then, with a cry of "Seele!" the chi-spear blasts out towards Terry, focusing its destructive power toward Bogard's chest.

COMBATSYS: Kain successfully hits Terry with Himmlische Seele.
