SNF 2005.08 - Megumi/Shingo vs Karin/Sakura

Description: An interesting match-up for this week's SNF. Friends face-off against each other for entertainment! Oh yeah, Karin is in the mix too. (Winners: Megumi and Shingo)

The school of Taiyoville. More commonly known as Taiyo High to those who attend and frankly, everyone else who's not some sort of dumb idiot. Cause seriously, who in their right mind would call a highschool 'Taiyoville'? That's some dumb crap right there. What's -not- dumb though is this promising spectacular match between friends. And Karin. The SNF officials have seen it fit to team up Shingo and his good friend Megumi against the former's girlfriend and her stalker/rival. Four fighters enter the roof of the school. Only one will emerge victorious. Huh? What? It's a team fight? Fine. Only two will emerge victorious.

And speaking of victorious...SNF winner for the past four weeks straight, Shingo Yabuki is already up here. He was up for a good while now and couldn't help but being a little early for this mid-afternoon match-up. Warming up was taken care of beforehand and he's done signing autographs on pictures, shirts, and other objects. Now he's content to waiting for his opponents to show up. His teammate being on time is always a plus too. Good thing Megumi is not like that slacker, Dong Hwan. Like always, Howard Arena officials have everything set up for this fight.

Megumi wasn't already up here, but does show up pretty well on time. She walks up the stairs, stopping once on the rooftop to remove her wristband and, as she has in the last few matches, pick someone out at random in the audience to give it to. Then she moves to stand beside Shingo. Megumi does not look...particularly energetic. Tired, really. Not even saying anything to greet him.

It IS a fine day here at Taiyo High School. Overhead there's only a few picturesque puffy white clouds, a nice sunshine for warmth, and a little breeze to keep it from being overbearingly hot. Many in the crowd are lounging out windows in other parts of the building, passing around snacks, etc. Yes, the breezy afternoon is pleasant for everyone.
And then the breezy afternoon is a slightly breezier afternoon, and as the 'breeze' intensifies so does the ear-splitting, rib-rumbling growl of helicopter blades. Yes, that's right: descending out of the sky to the Taiyo rooftop is an unmarked black helicopter, with two figures standing in the open cargo doors, their hair and clothing blown about by the intense wind.
Barely audible even to Sakura standing next to her, Karin shouts: "I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU WERE ACTUALLY GOING TO WALK HERE. YOU ARE SO DEPRESSINGLY PEDESTRIAN, SAKURA!" She even laughs a little at her own pun! Haha!

It's even less audible to Sakura, since the girl has her hands clamped over her ears from the noise. One elbow is wrapped around the safety strap at the side of the cargo door, but she seems a little less enthused than Karin to be on the helicopter. Maybe it has to do with the way her green-skirt keeps fluttering around from the wind, and the fact that their opponents, the audience, and the cameras are -below-. Eyes narrowed from the rushing winds, she glances over to Karin, nodding back to her companion with a half-committed smile. She only does -that- much because it appears Karin said something that requires a response -- and Sakura'd found out by now that she should at least -try- to appease the blonde warrior every once in a while.
She does spare a hand to wave down at the crowd afterwards, realizing that... well, zoom lenses could probably focus on her anxiety. "WE'LL BE DOWN IN A MINUTE! -- I THINK..."

That's a new one. Arriving by chopper. Nice. When the sounds of the rotors spinning reached his ears he doesn't even have to guess who's aboard. Though the second fighter on the flight he wouldn't even have guessed to be beside Karin as the aircraft descends towards the rooftop. His attention is not the only one that gets drawn upward. After all, it's not every day a helicopter shows up at a match. Unless it involves Rolento. Or so he hears.

Shingo gives a wave over to the tired looking Megumi. Sure it's mid-afternoon, but she's tired already? What has she been up to? He knows she's the type of girl to get herself into all sorts of mischief without constant supervision. So to speak. "Yo Megumi. You look tired. Up all night?" A cheerful demeanour just leaks out of him. Then he comments with a motion to the helicopter, "An interesting start to an interesting match, right?"

"...You're exactly right, Shingo. Up all night." Megumi confirms Shingo's suspicion. She doesn't add much more detail than that, as she's looking at how Karin and Sakura are arriving. That's certainly different. Well, she gets over her surprise after a few moments, staying back with Shingo. "Guess we need to get this done though, right?" She points over at Karin, "You know much about her?"

The noise has just become absolutely ridiculous as the chopper nears the rooftop; about five feet up it comes to a stop, hovering. Karin looks back at the pilot and gives him some sort of complex sign, then turns to Sakura. "IT LOOKS LIKE WE'RE JUST IN TIME," she bellows, then, without any hesitation, takes a step onto the landing strut, and then jumps right off, landing on her feet and immediately pulling herself standing, a hand flipping her ringlets into position like she was one of Charlie's Angels.
Turning, she looks back up at the helicopter and at Sakura, cupping her hands to her mouth. "HE CAN'T LAND THAT THING HERE SO YOU MIGHT AS WELL JUMP!" Lord, does she have lungs on her.

Shingo probably knows enough about Karin that he can safely put her on the 'People I don't completely trust my life's savings to' list. That's a very short list, indeed, but considering he'd probably trust his life's savings to anyone else, maybe it's not so good.
And... well, Karin's jumped down and she's shouting for Sakura to follow. "AWW, DO WE =HAVE= TO?" she mock-complains, finally relinquishing her hold on the safety strap and follows Karin's lead. Dropping to one knee on the ground below, she rises as well, cracking her knuckles as she looks back at Megumi and Shingo. "Totally not my choice, by the way!" she announces, with a slight smirk to Karin. "But it's not something I get to do all that often!" she explains. "You two ready, then?" she asks, checking the fit on her red handguards.

"Yeah. Everything I've heard is mostly from Sakura though. She's tough. Pretty good when it comes to counter-attacks. I really haven't had a chance to face her. She's Sakura's rival, as it were. I think you should take her on. And I'll go with Sakura. I mean, I just figure you don't want to fight Sakura again for a second week straight. Up to you though." Shingo shrugs. It really is up to Megumi on this one. He's laid out his opinions.

After the other two girls land, Shingo grins over to his girlfriend and Karin, "We sure are! You two just better be ready for us!" He glances to Megumi and nods to her that their initial plan is solid. Or maybe even seeking confirmation that they're solid. Shingo then looks back to his two opponents, "All right everyone! Let's have some fun!" Of course, when it comes to this group...fun means punching the other person till they fall down. Which is a splendid idea now that he thinks about it. With a smirk he lunges at his girlfriend, "Hey Sakura? You're wide open~!" The way he says it isn't like he usually does. Must be some sort of inside joke between the two of them. Or he really is in a playful mood. Either way. Sakura has a hook punch from Shingo's right hand coming her way.

Megumi listens to Shingo's advice willingly enough. "She does that...? Hmm. Okay." Seems she's willing to go with Shingo's plan, splitting off into seperate fights. As Shingo runs off, Megumi instead hangs back and puts her hands together. A sparkling red ball forms in front of them, and hovers. Then her hands pull back, and with a yell they shove the almost head-sized sphere, sending it flying towards Karin.

COMBATSYS: Megumi successfully hits Karin with Crimson Comet.

Putting a hand to the side of her face, Karin lets off her famous laugh. "Ooohohoho! How fortunate you both are to be able to face the great Karin Kanzuki and her sidekick!" she taunts, grinning. "Of course, you could save yourselves some trouble and simply surrender noof." The last bit, of course, is the sound of Megumi's projectile hitting home right in her side, as the blonde was not in any way paying actual attention to her. "...ow."

However, the distraction (and embarrassment) are short indeed. "My, my..." Karin asks, bemused (and getting in a quick 'ow!' from the side of her mouth). "Is that all young girls know how to do these days, throw shiny colored spheres?" Karin dashes in toward Megumi and, hopping up in a short jump, aims a leaping kick at the other girl's chest. "Allow me to show you some of the more traditional methods of combat."

COMBATSYS: Sakura blocks Shingo's Aragami Mikansei.

Eyeing her boyfriend's ten-second analysis of the situation, Sakura scratches her temple. It's not that she can't hear -any- of it, after all -- the helicopter had pulled away after dropping Sakura off, so it's only a light whuppa-whuppa-whuppa in the distance now.
"Sidekick?" bristles Sakura as she's introduced -- but she has something a bit more important to focus on. In other words: her boyfriend's fist, sweeping in from her side. Sakura's fought him enough to know what's coming when he says that, and she steps forward, snapping her forearm to the side to defend against it. "Huh, is that a fact?" But rather than just remain in place, she continues dashing forward, hoping to wrap her arm around Shingo's neck for a headlock. If she gets the chance to, she'll lock her other arm around her elbow and pull tight for a stranglehold. "I think it's =yours= that's wide open!"

COMBATSYS: Shingo blocks Sakura's Sakura Strangle.

Let Karin think what she wants is what Shingo would say if anyone asked his opinion. She's like the Duck Dodgers of the two. If you get what he means. If not. Oh well. Go watch Duck Dodgers on Cartoon Network. Fridays at 12:30am EST. Then you'll understand. But fortunately or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it, no one asked the boy's thoughts on the matter. Good thing too. He has his girlfriend to keep him occupied.

Sakura's retort is met with a defensive measure. That is to say that she's quick enough to get her arm around Shingo's neck and nearly manage to complete the lock. However Shingo is able to get his other hand in between his neck and Sakura's strangle. Using his greater strength, he breaks the hold rather easily. So easily that he decides to turn the tables on her. In a manner of speaking. By turn the tables he means turn her around onto her back and to the floor of the roof with an overhead shoulder throw, "Guess again!" He's enjoying this.

COMBATSYS: Karin successfully hits Megumi with Light Kick.

Megumi says nothing back to Karin at first. She's heard this taunt a lot, and it remains annoying, but...nothing to reply with. As Karin moves in, Megumi's not quite expecting it; she thinks the kick is going a bit lower, and instead is struck chest-height, staggering back hard. Apparently that was quite the blow. But as she regains balance, Megumi vaults at Karin, energy forming this time around her right fist. As she dives in, her body's spinning through the air, her fist aiming to ram into Karin's own torso in retaliation.

COMBATSYS: Karin blocks Megumi's Crimson Spiral Knuckle.

Karin lands from her kick just in time to turn around and see Megumi on the offensive, noting with what might even be an expression of approval that the other girl lost no time in getting into the rhythm of the fight. However, Karin's previous lapse in attention isn't repeated; crossing her arms in front of her, she takes the energy-imbued fist right on both armguards, pushed back a bit but still standing and mostly unharmed. She grins as she comes out of the block. "Ah, good... victories are rather meaningless unless they're of someone with appreciable strength, don't you agree?" She then returns the favor by thrusting a shotei blow straight at Megumi's stomach.

COMBATSYS: Sakura fails to interrupt Issetsu Seoi Nage Fukanzen from Shingo with Small Hadouken.

Well, foo, that didn't work too well. Even as she's staggering back from her broken grasp on Shingo, she can watch Megumi and Karin clashing - and they both seem to be doing okay! "Keep it up, Karin!" Of course, her boyfriend's also making a grab for one of her arms at the moment. She realizes she hadn't been paying attention, and he's able to grab her wrist and pull her closer. Panicking, she tries one last-ditch effort to knock herself out of Shingo's grip -- a brilliant blue sphere of energy she fully intendes to shove right into his torso! What a loving couple! "Hadooo--"
Unfortunately, the speed with which Yabuki jerks her out of the way is enough to throw her hand out to the side, sending that half-formed azure bloom careening off to some random place, bouncing once off the roof before disintegrating into worthless motes of light. No audience casualties yet!
As for Sakura herself, she's slung to the ground, but she gets right back to her feet. Dusting herself off, she can't help but smile back at Shingo. "Gettin' a bit rusty, I think..."

"Nah. We just haven't done this in like forever," Shingo answers back smiling after tossing her like some sort of ragdoll. "I'm sure you'll get back into it soon enough!" Shingo is already moving again so as not to be a sitting duck. "Here! Maybe this'll help!" How exactly is attaking her supposed to help is what some members of the crowd may be thinking. But obviously Shingo has a plan. "SHINGO KIIIIICKU!" And apparently that plan is to kick the ever-loving stuffing out of the smaller schoolgirl with his best technique he has ever invented. Yes, he invented it. The fact that it looks just like a certain other fighter's Rainbow Energy Dynamite Kick is mere coincidence. Don't believe the lies others tell you.

COMBATSYS: Megumi counters Hou Shou from Karin with Flood Reversal.

Megumi does have something to say this time, as she lands on her hands and cartwheels sideways to get back up. "Yeah, probably." It's a general agreement with Karin, and then there's the incoming strike at her gut. Megumi does not want that. She puts her hands out to catch Karin's arm at the wrist and just below the elbow, then makes a flip above and past Karin while holding the limb, raising it up. When she lands, Megumi twirls around, then twists the arm to toss Karin away. Fancy, but apparently effective.

Well... that hurt. Her eyes widening just a bit, Karin goes sailing through the air and lands in a rather ungainly fashion on the roof, but to her credit she turns the momentum of her fall into a quick kippup that puts her back on her feet in good order, wobbling her way into a fighting stance.
"Ah, what is wrong with me today..." she laments, fixing her gaze on Megumi. "It was that Korean fool a few nights back. I've gotten overconfident... should such a thing even be possible." And then, with absolutely no preamble, she launches herself at Megumi, delivering two successive quick punches, and a reprise of that vicious forward open-palm punch!

COMBATSYS: Shingo successfully hits Sakura with Shingo Kick.

That blasted ... kick... thingie! Sakura -has- a good defense against that attack, but its range would mean she'd have to get up close to deliver the payload. And that's something she doesn't wanna do right now, considering her last slam to the ground.
However... that doesn't necessarily mean she's going to be able to get out of the way of it any time soon. No, even though she tries diving to the side, the kick catches her full in the abdomen, sending her flying back, and tumbling sideways along the roof. She gets all that roofing kibble lodged in her too, y'know, and that's just totally grubby. "Pfft..." she spits, brushing the rocks off her as she pushes back to her feet. "Something like that!"
But enough playing around -- it's time to show Shingo she's getting serious! And there's a distinct need to do so, before she runs out of -too- much steam. "Haaa...." she starts, curling her hands by her side. Something else she hasn't done recently -- fireballed the poor boy! Thrusting her palms forward, she unloads a two-meter-wide comet of concussive force screaming across the Taiyo rooftop at Shingo. "Hadoooooouken!"

COMBATSYS: Shingo blocks Sakura's Large Hadouken.

Eeeeeek! Hadouken! Whatever shall Shingo do when faced with the six foot plus wide ball of pulsating pulverising power proceeding to pummel him persistantly with not-so-extreme prejudice? For starters. He's going to put his arms up like so. That is to say in the usual manner of blocking most people do. The boy having to stop his movement for a moment to put up an effective guard. As always, he doesn't typically like the blue orbs of energy that Ansatsuken students tend to throw out. But he has to deal. Ok. So she is getting serious.

"Ok. Felt that one. You've been practicing those a lot more, huh?" Shingo asks in the form of a compliment. Somewhat. Or so he hopes. So she wants to keep her distance from him? Shingo can't have that happening. Not if he intends to go for his fifth straight SNF win. Maybe he'll get a bonus this week. If he wins. Which seems plausible given the circumstances. However, Shingo is going to give his best. Time to try something new. "Fistdouken?" Yes. Very bad joke. He knows it. But that doesn't stop him from laughing. Or throwing out his fist after getting close with a quick dash in at Sakura.

Incoming fists. Megumi shifts her body left to avoid the first, bridges backward to get away from the second, and rolls along the ground to evade the palm strike. As she comes out of her roll, Megumi thrusts a palm out towards Karin...but there's too much space between them for it to hit. Instead, a roughly hand-sized sphere forms, flying off her hand, and past Karin. A miss?

Possibly. As it goes by, Megumi clenches her hand into a fist to make the ball explode from behind, spraying itself in a small area near Karin. Tricky, but not impossible to evade or defend against by any means.

Fast... faster than Karin, that much is obvious to anybody who's watching, as Megumi nimbly wanders right by the Guren Ken like someone on an afternoon stroll and counters with a rather nasty-looking attack of her own. Swallowing her surprise, Karin twists her body at just the right time to throw her arms up in front of the attack, minimizing the damage.
Retreating a few steps, Karin falls into a ready stance, then eases up a little, taking a long breath and exhaling; clearly, on the defensive. "Excellent. Truly a worthy opponent... and disciplined technique, too, unlike a *certain someone* I know."

Fistdouken. =Fistdouken=. They've been fighting for over a year and the best he can think of is 'Fistdouken.' "Oh, c'mon, that was lamer than lame, Shingo!" Rolling her eyes, Sakura ducks underneath the blow, but before Shingo can follow it up, Sakura's springing up up and away to safety! Or ... maybe not. Because on the way up, she happens to be grabbing for the lapels of his jacket, aiming to catch hold of them. She knows the jacket can take a gentle tug or two, but really, she'll let go in a minute. The main purpose of such an attack, though, is to plant both her feet on the boy's chest, and then suddenly spring up /again/, hopefully knocking him to the ground in the process. "Yut-ttaaa!"

AH-HAH! Sakura fell right into his devious trap! He purposedly made the really horrible joke to get a rise out of her. Actually, he was hoping that it was so bad that she'd recoil from the terribleness of it all and get distracted enough to make a slight error in judgement. The minute she goes down low, Shingo shouts out, "An opening!" And brings his elbow down hard on Sakura before she can get a good enough grip on his lapelle. He does take care to smack her around the upperback/trapezius area instead of hurting her head. Dropping her to the ground he hops back from the downed girl and rubs his head sheepishly, "My bad. But I knew you wouldn't let me get away with it. I'll make it up to you after, okay?" He beams.

Megumi is surprised to find Karin is not pressing the attack. ...Instead, Karin is gathering herself, and even more surprising, praising Megumi. "Ah...thanks. You're hitting pretty hard, too." Try to praise back. "It looks like...I've seen that sort of style before, but where?" And then she's forming another, larger red sphere, and with a two-handed push sends it zooming at Karin.

COMBATSYS: Karin interrupts Crimson Comet from Megumi with Mujin Kyaku.

Karin grins at Megumi. "I am honored by your praise," she says simply, not responding for the time being on the question of style. She hadn't pressed her attack mainly in an effort to see what Megumi was going to do, and was rewarded by having her suspicions confirmed: another red ball of energy. However, Karin was also prepared for such an eventually and is *instantly* inside Megumi's personal space as she forms the sphere.
Planting her right foot, Karin launches into a pair of two upward-sweeping kicks, one with both feet... and while they connect solidly, it's too late to stop Megumi's attack, which impacts on Karin's side just as the kicks are delivered. The blonde retreats back, spinning with the momentum of the Crimson Comet's hit, gritting her teeth. "This could be going better," she mumbles.

Oof. Yeah, good goin', Shingo... Sakura ends up slammed back to the ground, rather than trying her super-cool attacks and stuff. Poor Sakura!
Hey, she's a champ, she can take the abuse. Builds character! Springing backwards to a safe distance, Sakura shakes her head. "I'll hold you to that!" she shouts back at Shingo, eyes flickering over to see how Megumi and Karin are doing. Aaand considering that Karin would likely never forgive her for interfering with her match against Megumi, Sakura's gaze flits back to her boyfriend. Her -hands-, though, snap to her side, fingers curling around a swirling mass of energy. Heatwaves rise from her hands and electricity crackles as the orb spins faster and faster, growing in size. "Shinkuuuu...." Winking back at Shingo, it should be a foregone conclusion that the boy knows what's coming next.
Knowing what's coming, though, doesn't mean he'll be able to do anything about it, though. "HADOOOOOOOUKEN!" she shouts, unleashing the four-foot-wide meteor of crackling blue flames upon her loving boyfriend. Maybe this will be the make-up he'd spoke of?

COMBATSYS: Shingo dodges Sakura's Shinkuu Hadouken.

Now that's where the Taiyo schoolgirl is mistaken. It's -because- he knows what's coming is exactly why he's able to do something. Something spectacular. Some would even say...dramatic. The horrendously huge gathering of chi at her fingertips is something Shingo knows well enough hurts like the dickens when he gets it. Even if it is nowhere as painful as her sensei's. Ironically though. He does what most would think the impossible for him. The same exact they probably thought of him when he was facing off against Mr. Ansatsuken himself. That's right. Shingo Yabuki. Dodges. A Shinkuu Hadouken. Now where's his damn cookie?

"I'll have it no other way!" Shingo grins back to her as he uncharacteristically evades the projectile streaking in on him with the nimbleness of a fleet-footed safe. Who knew he had it in him? Dropping down to the ground on one hand sliding out of the way, Shingo pushes to his feet to instantly spring forth at Sakura in a flash. "Know what? I don't think I've avoided that before. So I didn't notice. But...your body is wide open!" Shingo comes in with another hook punch. Just that. He's still a little ways off from being within arm's reach? What's the deal? "Just kidding! SHINGO KIIIIIICKU!" He throws the punch but only uses the momentum to launch his entire body at Sakura with the enzuigiri to her body. Don't want to damage that pretty face of hers.

Megumi is surprised to see Karin charging right in. Karin was waiting for that, clearly. The kicks drive Megumi back, leaving her to give a very off-center shove to her energy-ball. It still hits Karin, just not as well as it could have. But clearly Karin wants to fight up close, and Megumi's willing to do this. She leaps towards Karin, body inverting in mid-air to thrust her hands down at the collarbone area. If she gets it, her descent should carry her down...where she'll drive Karin into the rooftop surface, and swing her legs down to land safely. That's the ideal 'as planned' version, anyway.

COMBATSYS: Karin endures Megumi's Flood Reversal.

Oh, she's hurting. So. Much. But Karin has already had one loss lately and she looks highly determined not to take another one. Setting both her feet, she holds up both arms and, in an improbable bit of strategy, *jumps up to meet Megumi* midway. The Aikido fighter's hands do connect, but not on the collarbone; with pinpoint precision Karin actually thrusts her hip into the attack with a mid-air twist, absorbing most of the blow... which still hurts, but nowhere near as bad as a tumble to the ground would.
"If you're going to fight like Sakura," Karin says sharply, turning herself around with the momentum of the hit, "then prepare for some anti-Sakura tactics! Kanzuki-ryuu..." And then Karin is a *blur* of moving arms, a series of blisteringly fast, scything hits aimed to simply pummel Megumi into submission. "Kou'ou Ken!"

COMBATSYS: Sakura fails to interrupt Shingo Kick from Shingo with Large Hadouken EX.

Sakura shakes her head lightly. The Shingo Kick -- the one move that's consistently her nemesis in fights against Shingo -- is flying straight at her. Her urge is to dodge -- but that didn't work last time. Instead, she tries flicking her wrists to the side, conjuring up a storm of blue chi -- but it's much too slow to be able to contact Shingo before that kick crashes into her sternum, sending her flying back across the roof. The energy, sensing itself no longer needed, spirals out of control and dissipates into nothingness. Sakura, meanwhile, finds out that the rooftop is roughly equivalent to -23 grit sandpaper, thanks to all the bumps and scratches she picks up along the way. Yum!

As much as he'd rather prefer to hug and cuddle with his girlfriend over smacking her around with his fists and feet, Shingo has to grit through it all. It's a fight. Well, match. They both knew what to expect when they decided to show up to participate in tonight's SNF. Pain, pain, and more pain. Unfortunately, it seems that Sakura is the main receiver on all three points. He's on some sort of roll tonight. Like he's possessed by the flames of Kusanagi-ryuu itself. If you watch carefully, he may spout flame any second now!

"Teya!" Or not. Dangit Shingo. Should've thrown another punch. That's the way Kyo does it to create fire. He throws a punch. Fire springs forth. So why'd the boy fire off a spinning kick at Sakura's torso? Does he really not want to shoot flame? Whatever the reason he did it. A single hop forward with the spin and the kick comes right for Sakura...

COMBATSYS: Megumi blocks Karin's Kanzuki-ryu Kou'ou Ken.

Megumi continues to be surprised. She didn't quite expect Karin to deal with the takedown in quite so aggressive a fashion, and to come out of it so well. When she gets to her feet, Karin's already there, already sending out strikes one after another. Megumi brings her arms up in front of her to stop the first few blows, spins away from the next few, and tries to jump clear of final ones. Nice idea, but Karin's strikes are pretty quick, and those last few do connect, knocking her away.

Could've been worse. But Megumi gets up, rubbing at her side a bit. "Ehh...now I remember. Some of your moves are open-palm, but they're...similar to Feilong. That's neat." It doesn't sound patronizing, really. Karin's ego may interpret it poorly, but it was spoken in good faith. And then Megumi rushes in, reaching to wrap her arms around Karin's lower body. If she gets it, she'll spin behind Karin, then leap and bridge backwards, twirling through the air as she hopefully takes Karin up and back with her, planning to drive her head and upper back into the rooftop surface.

COMBATSYS: Karin fails to counter Tornado Slam from Megumi with Yasha Gaeshi.

Ow. Ow ow ow. Gritting her teeth in frustration, Karin lands slightly before Megumi, and is about to say something when Megumi is simply... there. Fortunately for Megumi, everything goes exactly as planned: she and Karin go for a magical mystery tour of Oz via tornado shortly before Karin's gorgeous blonde hair is introduced rather nastily to the Taiyo rooftop. The Kanzuki heir crumples after that, and doesn't get back up.

COMBATSYS: Shingo successfully hits Sakura with Oboroguruma Mikansei.

The spin kick is not by itself. No! Shingo doesn't know how much umph Sakura has got left in her. She's got a pesky habit of surprising you when you least expect it. The spinkick would be enough to knock her off balance. Enough for a second spinkick from the boy's foot that will launch her into the air, "Doriya!" On landing he chases after her in the air with a flip kick that will knock her back to the ground. And soon Shingo came tumbling after, "Yow!" He doesn't use that technique too often so messes up on the last part and crashes face first next to Sakura.

As one can probably guess from the series of outcomes through this fight, Sakura gets hit. Bad. What might -not- be predictable though, is Sakura running straight -into- Shingo's fist, and the kick that follows it. And everything else, actually. She probably had some kinda plan there... but she hadn't planned on Shingo kicking her around quite so badly as he does. In fact, when that last kick hits, Sakura's knocked completely unconscious. Out, kaput, finito. Gonna be hurting like heck when she wakes up, that's for sure.

COMBATSYS: Sakura takes no action.

In an instant Shingo's back on his feet. The fight is still on and...and... Blink. "..." And both opponents are down for the count. Wow. That was...quick. Even for a match at this level. Shingo maintains his defensive posture right through and up until the officials give the ten count to Sakura. Seems that Megumi handled Karin well enough. He knew he chose that strategy for a reason and it all worked out just like he planned. The ten count is reached and it's certain that the Ansatsuken prodigy won't be getting up to continue. He stands and smiles over to Megumi while rubbing his nose, "We did it." A look over to Karin and Sakura as the medics start to move out to tend to them. This is a match of firsts. First time he dodges Shinkuu Hadouken from the girl and the first time he gets out of a SNF virtually unscathed.

Well, that about settles that, with both seifuku-wearing fighters out for the count. The crowd of students at the roof doors is suddenly parted as a tall, stately-looking man and a portly guy dressed as a butler come barrelling through with an EMT team right behind them.
"Excuse us, please... coming through... yes, sorry about your foot, sir..." apologizes Shibazaki, until he and the other arrive at the scene and start taking control of the medical situation, bustling off the show staff and loading Karin and Sakura onto stretchers for delivery to a Kanzuki-owned hospital.

Megumi disengages herself from Karin after her successful twirling takedown, just in time to watch Sakura also go down. She was about to go say something to Karin, when...some odd crew shows up to take them away? Wait, she's heard about these guys, a few months back...okay.

Megumi looks over to Shingo, shaking her head a few times. "Seems we did. I'm...going to go home. I'm tired. See you later, okay?" And with that, she's going for the stairs.
