Description: Mai and Jacob come together for a SNF on the beach, in which Jacob somehow manages to resist the awesome power of Mai in a bikini. (Winner: Jacob)
A decent sized crowd is gathered down by the beach to see tonight's fight. For the sake of some variety a series of ropes have been set up to section off a square area on the beach itself, but set back a fair distance from the water. Lights have been set up to illuminate the fight, and there are a few speakers nearby for the announcer to work with.
Jacob strolls down off the boardwalk, looking even more out of place than usual in his business attire. He hadn't really been expecting to be fighting on sand, but there's not much he can about that now besides slipping off his shoes as he steps into the 'ring', and setting them down in a spot where they hopefully won't be snatched by some fan. He doesn't know much about his opponent, but that only makes things more interesting. While he waits for the fight to start he performs a few stretches, limbering himself up and helping him to get his footing on the sand.
One girl pushes her way through the crowd, coming to a stop at the edge of the ring. She looks to be appropriately dressed for the beach, even if the weather isn't exactly what you'd call 'warm' -- a bright red string bikini doesn't exactly offer that much protection from the cold. She jabs her umbrella into the sand, leaving it sitting there upright, and takes off her sunglasses, setting aside as well.
"Oh! I thought I was going to have to change to go to my fight. I guess I just lucked out!"
Mai leaps over the ropes, gaining an impressive amount of height, performing a somersault mid-air before landing, now suddenly holding two fans, one tucked under her arm, and the other held firmly in her right hand, tapping her hip. She smiles, "You're my opponent, right? Otherwise you might want to get out of the way!"
Jacob blinks twice as Mai leaps into the ring, and he takes a moment to examine his opponent. Well, he wasn't expecting to be fighting a cute girl in a bikini, but it's a credit to his self-control that he doesn't let his surprise show on his face. He's had to fight plenty of female opponents before, and he's not going to hold back just because this one happens to be wearing less. A lot less. He gives his head a brief shake, then replies to Mai, returning her smile. "Yes, I'm your opponent for tonight."
Just then it seems that the announcer notices that both fighters are in place, and he picks up his microphone. "Okay, ladies and gentlemen! For your entertainment tonight, we present Mai Shiranui and Jacob Reaves! I'm sure we're in for a great fight here!"
"Okay, well, get ready then! It's getting kind of chilly out here."
Mai unfolds her fans suddenly, thousands of water droplets flinging off them to create a dazzling display in the setting sun. But should Jacob be fixated on the pretty sight -- either the droplets or Mai, as many people have the unfortune of staring, which may or may not be Mai's plan -- he won't notice that the kunoichi has nimbly leapt onto one of the four posts now dug into the sand.
Rebounding off the post, she executes another flip, and then somehow her momentum changes in mid-air, leaving the Shiranui ninja hurtling in a downwards diagonal path right towards, Jacob, with her razor-sharp fans leading the charge!

Jacob does have an eye for beauty, but he doesn't let it interfere with his desire to avoid taking a beating. He watches as Mai hops up onto one of the posts, then follows her trajectory through the air. Her change in direction is sudden, but Jacob is fast enough to simply hop out of the way as she comes down, letting the fans pass harmlessly through the air. He immediately moves back in though, reaching for Mai before she even hits the ground. He comes in from the side, grabbing for her as he brings his knee up in an attempt to ram it into her stomach. If he can do that succesfully he'll then use his grip on her to swing her around, tossing her back toward the post she just leapt off of.

Somehow, this attack ends up with Mai precariously crouched on Jacob's knee. She springs off of it before her opponent can grab at her, landing lightly on the ground behind him. She's not going to let things go bad for her this early without a fight!
Hopping a small distance into the air, the kunoichi spins around, a sudden crescent of flame bursting into existence at her waist! The chi explodes, the likeness to real fire so amazing that these very well might be similar to the famed flames of the Kusanagi or Yagami.

Not being familiar with your opponent can make for interesting fights, but it can also be an invitation for pain. Jacob certainly wasn't expecting the firey explosion which engulfs him, sending him crashing down to the sand. He scrambles back to his feet quickly, a bit of smoke drifting from several singed spots on his suit. It's a shame, but he has plenty of spares. He quickly lunges forward, bringing out his right fist for a blow aimed at Mai's face, but purposely falling a bit short. He then uses his momentum to keep going forward, switching to an attempt to drive his elbow into the ninja's face.

With a crack, Mai's head snaps backwards, staggering her a few feet. She recovers quickly, dancing out of the way and rubbing her nose. Luckily she doesn't look too hurt, "Ow! No more hits to the face, please?"
Again, distraction might take it's toll, as a single fan comes whistling out of the air behind Jacob, maybe smacking /him/ in the back of the head! Stupid ninja tricks.

Well, it probably wouldn't be too much of an inconvenience for Jacob to avoid hitting Mai in the face... While he's thinking about that, though, a fan comes up behind him and crashes into the back of his head, sending him stagger forward a few steps. He gives Mai a rather cool look, then quickly glances around to make sure there's nothing else coming at him. He doesn't intend to get caught off guard again.

Well, he's going to have to deal with a whole lot more than just one fan. Mai waits for a response for Jacob for a split-second, sees that he's preparing an attack, and decides to go on the offensive! She lashes her left hand into the sky, throwing /three/ fans. Wait, how was she holding three fans in one hand, and one in the other...? And how come even as the three fans spiral into the sky, the ninja is still holding a fan in each hand?
Questions like these may never be answered, because the pressing matter is the three fans curving around in graceful arcs, each coming to hit Jacob from a different direction!

Well, standing still and letting the fans hit him doesn't seem like a very good strategic move, so Jacob is quickly on the move toward Mai. As the fans start to come on him his hand darts out, snagging one of them out of the air. He then kicks off of the sand, performing an impressive turn in the air as he uses the one fan to knock away the other two, then lands without breaking his stride as he rushes toward Mai. He tosses the fan aside as he gets close, ducking slightly and leading with his arm as he attempts to drive his elbow into the kunoichi's sternum.

Mai frowns. This move has gone bad, so it's time to get serious and liven things up. She dashes /towards/ Jacob, noticing his intent to strike but not really caring. When his elbow sinks dangerously deep into her sternum, knocking the wind out of her, she keeps on /going./
Her foot suddenly bursting with fiery chi, the kunoichi backflips away from Jacob, carving a huge flaming arc that should terminate right under Jacob's chin. It's a reverse of her usual technique, but who said Mai couldn't improvise?

The flare of light from near the ground gives Jacob just enough warning to lean back as Mai begins her backflip. The flaming chi on her foot comes dangerously close as it swings up past his body, but doesn't actually connect. When the kick gets up to about chest height Jacob reaches out, grabbing Mai by the leg, then swinging his body around to hurl her to one side. He stumbles slightly as he releases her, his foot slipping in the sand, but quickly regains his balance.
"Guh..." Mai half-coughs, half-almost-throws-up, having hit the post stomach first. She mutters something inaudible, getting to her feet shakily. She spreads her fans wide, flashing another smile, "Well, at least you're not being beaten completely!"
Then, dashing forward, the Shiranui ninja raises her fans and spins around, executing a complicated dance that features, among various graceful twirls, two razor-sharp metal fans whirling about like a bladed tornado.

Jacob returns Mai's smile with a grin, but that fades as he sees the whirling blades closing in on him. He tries to leap out of the way, but the shifting sand doesn't seem to be favoring him tonight, and he can only backpedal frantically as the fans whip across him, slicing up his suit and leaving numerous cuts across his body, several of them deep enough to draw blood. Finally Jacob manages to get solid footing for a moment, and he takes the opportunity to try stopping Mai's assault, lashing out with a kick aimed for her side. With the sharp fans and the fact that Jacob isn't wearing shoes this isn't the safest of moves, and he can only hope his timing is good.

But she's not done! Mai stands perfectly still, her arms pointing straight up, ribbons of flame whirling around her. She doesn't bother trying to avoid Jacob, unwilling to forfeit the fact that she's right up in his face. A mosiac of flame explodes behind her, and then collapses inward, covering the kunoichi in flame!
Though the pain is building from Jacob's repeated attacks, Mai forces herself into action, falling forward into a roll that carries her into melee range, springing up to deliver a vicious flaming elbow to her opponent's face!
"Chou Hissatsu Shinobi Bachi!"

Jacob quickly withdraws his leg as Mai bursts into flame, and immediately tries to back away. Her roll is too fast for him to escape however, leaving him with no room to dodge as she springs up toward him. Rather than let her follow through with her attack, though, he lashes out with one hand, ignoring the pain from the flaming chi surrounding her as he pushes her elbow to one side. He follows through by lifting up his leg and then snapping out with a kick, slamming his foot into Mai's chin, then using the force of the blow to push himself back from her, clutching at his singed hand.
Mai crumples into the sand, but scrambles to her feet, hunched over and panting. She can't afford to take another hit. In the interest of saving her hide, she lets her fans do the talking, half-heartedly making a throwing motion. Though her enthusiasm isn't behind it, the fan splits into three, a shotgun blast of blades.

Jacob clenches his fist a few times. He winces, but it looks like his hand is still in working shape for the fight. He reaches this conclusion just a bit too late to get out of the way of the three flying fans. There are a few brief splashes of blood as two fans cut into his arms, while the third scores a gash along his ribs. As soon as he recovers he lunges forward toward Mai, intending to grab the ninja around the torso, then use his weight and height advantage to haul her up into the air before slamming her back down. On her back, rather than her head, out of deference to her earlier request.

After the counters, Mai's wary of getting close to this guy. She leaps backwards, dancing nimbly out of the way, keeping her fans at the ready. Dashing forward, the ninja throws one fan and leaps into the air, curling into a somersault while tossing a second fan, and landing some distance away to throw a third.
"I hope you don't mind, but I don't think I want you touching me again!"

Trying to follow Mai's path through the air, Jacob dodges and weaves as the fans fly out toward him, letting them thud into the sand as he moves to keep up with the kunoichi. "Well, I'm afraid that that would make this fight pretty tough for me!" Not that it hasn't been, judging by the singes and cuts all over his body. Mai does land a fair distance away from, but he's still moving and covers the ground quickly. He leads toward her with a kick aimed at her stomach, but he doesn't stop if it hits. Instead he continues forward, pulling his leg up and grabbing for the kunoichi's shoulders, intending to use his weight to carry her down to the ground, then landing on top of her, knee first.

Mai falls backwards into a roll, somersaulting away and springing back up onto her feet. This fight was going to close, but maybe luck would be on her side. Leaping forwards once more, the kunoichi attempts to fly right past Jacob.
She's spinning as she hurtles through the air, which means what? Another arc of exploding flame!

Jacob's expecting something when Mai comes flying right in, so when he sees the chi flaring up he leaps to one side in time to avoid the firey explosion. He doesn't just stand there though, instead rushing toward where it looks like Mai is going to land, grabbing for her as the explosion fades away. She's already headed back to the ground, but he hopes to make her landing an unpleasant one, trying to grab for one of her legs so that she'll tumble and hit the ground hard.

Though Jacob gets a shakey hold on one of Mai's legs, the kunoichi maintains her balancing, wreching her limb free and taking a big step backwards. She could still do this!
Stomping her foot hard enough for it to sink into the fine sand, Mai offers a sly grin before making a kicking motion with said foot at Jacob. They're far enough apart that not even the sand can touch him, but what /can/ touch him is the silvery metal weight that she kicked.
How'd that get there?
Damn ninjas.

Well, Jacob certainly wasn't expecting that. He'd question where Mai keeps all this stuff, but that's too distracting a line of thought to follow in combat. He tries to dodge the incoming weight, but doesn't quite manage to get out of the way in time. It hits his shoulder, knocking him back slightly, but he recovers quickly. He charges toward Mai again, hoping she won't prove quite as slippery this time. He grabs for her arm with his left hand, and ducks down with his right shoulder, trying to swing her up and over his shoulders and send her crashing into the ground behind him.

With a squeal, Mai is flipped over, hitting her head on the ground hard with an audible /crunch./ While she remains motionless from the impact, there's the matter of an unresolved rift of flame that started when she was first thrown over Jacob's shoulder.

Jacob starts to turn around as soon as he releases Mai into the ground, wanting to be able to see if she manages to pull off escape or some other trick. This turns out to be a good idea, as it allows him to see the explosion threatening to engulf him. He leaps backward with a brief spray of sand, managing to avoid the burst of chi.
There is a short pause while everyone waits to see if Mai is going to continue the fight, but it eventually becomes clear that she's no longer capable of continuing. The announcer then earns his keep, calling into the microphone, "And the winner is, Jacob Reaves!" The audience applauds, some of it the energetic cheering of Jacob's small fanbase, but mostly just the applause of people who were happy to see any fight.
After a few brief waves to the audience Jacob walks over to his fallen opponent, then gets down on one knee next to her. "Hey, you okay?" Now that the fight is over it seems rather awkward to actually touch her anywhere, so he instead sticks to an attempt to verbally appraise her condition.
Since Mai's unconscious, there's not much of a reply. Luckily fights usually have medical people. Hopefully.
Jacob shrugs, standing back up. He doesn't like to end fights on a bad note; at least, while he's not engaged in his real profession. Still, when the opponent is knocked out there's not much he can do. Yes, it looks like some medical examiners are on there way, so it seems Jacob's work here is done. Standing back up he brushes some sand off his pants, then walks over to collect his shoes before wandering back to the boardwalk and vanishing into the crowd.
