SNF 2005.01 - Geese vs Kensou and Kula

Description: Saturday Night Fight in Howard Arena -- Kula and Kensou team up against He Who Run Southtown. (Winner: Geese)

Geese has little reason to bother with a flashy entrance. He's already in the arena proper, going through token exercises while he waits. The announcer's deprived of his chance to announce Geese, but that still leaves the other side.

Once the announcer has the signal that the other two fighters are ready, he calls them out, and fans should recognize both of them; Kensou's been in his share of matches, and even Kula has, earning crowd attention for her ice-skating. "Entering now as a team, one part of the Psycho Soldiers...Sie Kensou! And his partner, certain to put on a very 'cool' show, Kula Diamond!"

Cue cheering. The fans have usually gotten a good show out of these two before, and while Kula may be quiet, she has her own supporters for this match. Youth and energy has its fans.

Yes, that's our Kensou! He shows up all over the place. Having forgone participation in the tournament in Strolheim for a variety of reasons, the Chinese kenpo user and former KOF participant arrives in the arena as his name is called, grinning broadly and waving to the crowd with his usual earnestness. Kensou can't say as he knows much about his interim partner, but as for their /opponent/... Finally, the shorts-clad Psycho Soldier hops onto the main stage, landing lightly, and adding another grin towards the already-present Geese. "It's an honour t' get t' meetcha, Mr. Howard," the psion says, at least /sounding/ genuine. He's good at hiding latent panic.

When it's time for Kensou and Kula to make their entrance, the "Cool Cat" herself walks out with her arms clasped behind her back as she seems to sort of bashfully kick at the floor with each step, approaching much slower than Kensou with all his hopping. And then when she finally arrives alongside him, she just gives the veritable owner of Southtown a polite nod before looking aside at Kensou. She doesn't say anything to him, she just looks, and then she seems to look down at the floor just before closing her eyes, letting her blonde hair freeze over to a very distinct ice blue as several wisps of cold air start to form around her.

Geese stops his exercises as Kensou steps in, folding his arms with a smug look. "At least you know respect, that's better than some people I've seen." But it would seem Kula isn't wasting much time, since all she does is nod to him and then begin forming chilled air.

Geese has seen enough videos of her fights to know what that probably means. He aims to cut it off at the source, making windmilling, underhand pitching motions with both of his hands. "Double Reppuken!" What starts as one blue wave of chi grows into a larger one as Geese creates two of them and merges them, sending the larger creation racing down the arena floor at Kula. Its path is easily traced, as it's actually gouging out a straight line a few inches deep into the arena floor, marking its path.

Well, really, what's Kensou SUPPOSED to say? 'Hey Geese! I blew your son /right up/ in this very arena once! Good times!' No sir, he was raised to be nice and polite. By a drunken old man, yes. The Psycho Soldier barely has time to crack his knuckles when that distinctive chi wave comes barreling towards his teammate, though he's only ever seen it in /purple/ before. "Whoa, look out!" Obviously, she can see it... But Kula seems a little on the passive side. This is of course, no time for Sie to stand around doing nothing, so he takes to a quick sprint, running towards one corner of the arena, and on the way, his hands come up and fling out a blue-white sphere of energy, coherent Psycho Power hurtling towards Geese. "Haa-! Choukyuudan!"

COMBATSYS: Kula fails to reflect Double Reppuken from Geese with Counter Shell.

As Kula stands there and tries to concentrate, she quickly takes note that Geese doesn't seem to want to allow her the time. That's an awfully large energy attack he's sending her way. At least, it's bigger than most she's had to deal with. She decides it's best to try and stop it rather than ruin her concentration trying to dodge, and though she's quick to bring her arms around from behind her back and try to throw out a reflective wall of sparkling ice crystals, the shell they form doesn't exactly do it's job. She squeaks as she's blown backward, slammed into by the heavy chi and sent skidding back, but she at the least doesn't let her knock her down.

COMBATSYS: Kensou successfully hits Geese with Choukyuu Dan.

"Ha!" Geese is very content as his Double Reppuken just plows right through Kula's defense, though this moment of ego-gratification comes at a price: he's not paying much attention to Kensou. It's not until the Choukyuudan is nearly upon him that Geese tries to jump over it, and all he gets to show for it is taking the blast in the legs. He lands cleanly anyway despite the hit, but takes a moment to shake a foot. "Like a less annoying version of her...", he decides.

Well, Kensou's decided to run off to another part of the arena to shoot at Geese from afar. Geese decides to give chase, making one more underhand-pitching motion, "Reppuken!" A smaller chi wave forms, also zipping along the floor. This one's going for Kensou, while Geese starts running to close the distance between them. He knows a 'fireball war' does not favor him quite as well as other courses of action may.

COMBATSYS: Kensou dodges Geese's Reppuken.

Skidding to a halt in the corner, Kensou sees that Reppuken coming his way, all right. "Man... I really /hate/ those things," the Chinese fighter mutters under his breath, one sneakered heel scraping lightly against the arena floor, his body tensing for just a moment before he launches right off the ground, handily circumventing the incoming Reppuken. "KULA!! Back me up!" Does he want to go toe to toe with Geese by himself? No sir, he does not. Anyway, at the apex of his jump, Kensou's momentum goes through an abrupt change, turning into a straight, diagonal line rather than an arc downwards... He shoots down towards Geese, his right foot extended, riding a blue streak of Psycho Power as he attempts to strike the dangerous fighter. "Yaaaaa-!"

Skidding as she did reminded Kula just a little of that familiar feeling she gets when ice-skating, and so the first thing she does after coming to a complete stop is form a pair of frozen blades on the soles of her shoes, making herself look a good couple of inches taller. She immediately puts them to use too, and when the Psycho Soldier asks for backup, she moves swiftly maneuver around behind Mr. Howard to try and stab him in the back! That's an awfully thin blade she forms in her hand, but it's made of the sharpest ice she can muster up with the kind of quickness she thinks is needed for either a distraction for Kensou or a good hit of her own.

How nice. Geese gets what he wants, as Kensou's descending right for him. Geese considers trying to counter the attack outright, but feels something is amiss; Kula's coming in from behind. Geese quickly sends a swinging outward block to stop Kensou's attack cold with one hand, at the same time he twists an arm behind him to stop the ice from stabbing right through him. It cuts into his forearm some, but that's a far, far better situation to be in than outright backstabbed. Caught on two sides, he decides to focus most of his effort on breaking the blitz...by hopefully breaking one of the participants.

Stepping up to Kensou, Geese balls his fist back, then sends a straight punch right at his nose. Fluid, but very plain; good ol' fashioned shot to the schnoz, as they might say.

His attack getting pretty much nothing, Kensou is at least glad to see Kula getting some contact. "Tch..." Then things get worse, because there's a fist coming right at his face. Rather than attempting to dodge, or even to soak up some of the impact somehow, the psion stands his ground... Unfortunately, he'd underestimated how badly it was going to /hurt/. The energetic fighter's head snaps back rather sharply, and you can just hear the 'OHHHHH!' from the crowd, Kensou diverted from his original attention to sneak a hit in in the lull right after Geese attacked. Which isn't to say he's not attacking... It's just delated. "I ain't out yet!" he cries, as he throws his whole weight - yes, all one hundred and thirty-four pounds of Chinese fury - behind an overhand punch... Following it with a quick flurry of more punches, his intention to end off with a double axehandle to the underside of Geese's chin, leaping off the ground to manage it...

Kula's frozen blade snaps in two soon after it cuts into Geese's tensed forearm, and she quickly discards the part she's left holding onto. "Err... well that's no good." she mutters to herself. And then she's startled slightly by the sound of Geese's hand striking Kensou right in the face. "Wah..!" Should they regroup, or shouldn't they? Since that doesn't exactly seem to send Kensou scrambling away, Kula decides to stick around too in the end, and tries to slide around to the Hakyosaken master's side to go for a nice hard kidney punch. She's just all about the dirty tactics today isn't she? She leans in as she puts her fist out, supporting it by locking her elbow against her own hip sort of like one would set a rifle against their shoulder, and then when her clenched fist is one inch away, a truckload of force rolls off of it.

Geese doesn't block these attacks like he did the last. Still caught on two sides, Geese is left to sort of 'weave between' each of Kensou's strikes, while also trying to get out of the way of Kula's point-blank punch. She's going for the kidney, but won't /quite/ get it: Geese manages a 'half dodge' that makes her otherwise excellent attack end up as more of a glancing blow. One that still makes him wince, though. It coincides with Kensou's axehandle, which Geese does a long backwards step away from.

"I'd be disappointed if you were out already, Kensou. The bookers thought you two would be a good even match against me, and it's been a while..." Geese's ego is still quite apparent, but not as strong as when this started; he is having to work hard at this. "So please, do make this as hard as possible." Then he reaches out to try and grab Kensou, then invert him and slam him to the arena floor.

Fists... Hitting nothing but air. Not good. And it only gets worse when Kensou is grabbed, turned upside down, and slammed right into the arena floor, a pained noise escaping the Psycho Soldier. "Geez... You hit like a girl, Mr. Howard," he says, despite the fact that his voice is strained, the wind having been knocked right out of him. Getting his feet beneath him, Kensou scrambles away to get out of Geese's reach, producing - seemingly from nowhere - a piping-hot meatbun. Is this /really/ the time to be eating? "Don't worry, though... I'm just gettin' started!" And yes, he pops that bun, whole, into his mouth, whereupon he chews.

Kula looks to be both awed and a little frustrated at the same time when Geese manages to both diffuse the force of her one inch punch to a point where the results are less than stellar, /and/ weave away from Kensou's attack. Her mouth is dropped open at first, and her jaw works like she wants to say something but she's too vexed to say it. And then Kensou goes and gets himself picked up and turned on his head before getting slammed into the ground. She knew this was going to be difficult, but GAWD. When Kensou goes scurrying off after that, she doesn't blame him, in fact, she's right behind him yelling, "Bail!" But not without one parting shot as she goes skating by Geese with her fist out, aiming this time for his cheek with one of her icy-hot yellow gloves.

Geese has managed to crack open this offense by making Kensou back off, and meets Kula's skating punch with another sweeping block to bat her strike away. "Run? Ha! Your time's just about up anyway!"

Then Kensou's taunt registers. "Hit like a girl...? Your friend here's been more effective than you, despite her little handicap. Maybe you should take lessons from her once you wake up." Then he's sailing across the air towards Kensou, snapping a deep right-legged kick at his head just before landing. He doesn't want to just take Kensou down, he wants to knock him plum out.

There is a nice, satisfying WHAM as Kensou gets hit /right in the damn head/ by Geese's kick, and the lithe boy looks like he's going to go right over... Except for two things that happen simultaneously: One, his stance widens, stopping himself from falling, and two, his arm on that side comes up to hook on Geese's leg, attempting to trap him there for what comes next. "There's something I want to show you," he says quietly, his eyes shadowed, as his free hand shoots towards Geese's chest, open-palmed. "...EAT THIS!!" Suddenly, there's a massive explosion of Psycho Power, ideally centered on Geese himself, a main explosion and dozenz of secondary ones, a massive, barely-controlled output of power intended to rock and buffet the elder Howard... Right up until Kensou loses control of it, which will likely send the pair of them flying in opposite directions. "HAAAAAAAAAAAA-!"

So it's come to taunts and insults, has it? Kensou's calling Geese a sissy, Geese is calling Kula handicap-- Hey, wait a minute. "And just what's that supposed to mean?" Having whiffed her attempt to catch Geese with her fist as she started to retreat when he smacked her hand aside, Kula's trajectory is thrown off a little, but at least she isn't slowed down any. She skates to a stop some several yards away, and makes to try and throw in a little something of her own to help Kensou out when she sees him start throwing out all of that psycho power from his palm. Her hand comes up like she's about to beckon, but seeing as Geese is about to be rather busy, that wouldn't exactly make much sense. It soon becomes apparent what she's really doing when she puckers her lips up and starts to blow a strong blast of air over her cold cold palm, one that sends blue and white chi rolling through the air toward the owner of this very arena.

Geese's leg is caught, but he's not completely open. At first he assumes Kensou is just going for a palm-thrust. He is, just not in the way Geese was figuring. Just before the blast goes out, Geese figures out what Kensou is planning, forcefully yanks his leg free, and starts to jump away.

It's the right idea, and done in time to get some distance from Kensou's blast. It's possible he would've gotten away scot-free, but for Kula's ice striking him in the back and taking some momentum away from his leap. Very nice teamwork. Kensou's own shot overcomes him in that instant, and along with the jump, it sends Geese flying back. But he can be dangerous while in the air, and despite the pain searing through him right now, he brings a hand back, then thrusts it forward. "Shippuken!"

That will cause a blue chi projectile to go out of that hand, descending at a shallow angle towards Kensou. Geese himself lands on the ground unceremoniously, but rolls out of it quickly. "I meant...well, I'll show you in a minute what I meant by handicap."

Skidding backwards on one heel as the Senki Hakkei breaks down, Kensou's one palm smokes as that hand twitches slightly... He did put an awfully high volume of energy through that hand. "Keh..." And then... That's probably not good. The incoming projectile speeds at Kensou with frightening speed, and the Psycho Soldier's attempt to dodge is basically fruitless; he gets hit squarely, knocking him right on his ass. "Huuh..." By this point, he's bruised and battered, dried blood on his lower face from when his nose was hit - though, that particular injury has mysteriously healed! - and his breathing is ragged... But Kensou? He's not so great at giving up. He doesn't even seem to get up to his feet, but the Chinese fighter is rather suddenly in a dead run, low to the ground, as he charges back at Geese, by this point only half-conscious; Kensou is running on pure willpower, now. "RAAAAAAAAAAAAH-!" He brings out both hands, this time, trying to get a hold of Geese a second time, to repeat his previous attack... But between the lingering pain of the Shippuken, and the fact that he's not /really/ conscious, will it even be effective?

Kula turns and gives Kensou a little grin and a thumbs-up, rather unsuspecting in the moment that Geese stays in the air just a little longer than one would expect. One that hadn't fought him before, in any case. Suddenly what looks to her like a reppuken from the air rains down on Kensou and she can't help but wince and cover her eyes for a moment, peeking between her fingers at least a little bit of course. "Ooo.. " She kind of thinks that it for her partner there, but he somehow keeps on going in spite of his obvious fatigue. Not wanting to rob him of any glory this time before he ends up inevitably going down, and also rather morbidly curious to see just what Geese means when he says he'll show her in what he was talking about in a minute, she leans forward and puts her hands on her knees, bending just slightly and narrowing her eyes to regard Mr. Howard critically while Kensou tries to go for him one more time.

No. It will not be effective. Geese takes single, slow steps toward Kensou as he runs in to try that blast again. Where Geese had only some small recourse against it earlier, this time he's unhindered by being held or attacked on two sides. He simply shuffles off to the side, letting the energy shoot by. But he does not make any witty remark. No, he changes targets in the same motion that he evades. Kula's clearly analyzing her options, and Geese decides to distract her. Arms windmill in underhand pitching motions. First one, "Double Reppuken!" A blue chi wave forms. The second motion completes, making the wave larger and sending it racing along the ground to hopefully collide with Kula.

With nothing to strike, the Senki Hakkei fizzles, and so it seems does Kensou... Except once again when he's halfway to the ground he catches himself, straightening up. "Hey... Where you goin'?" the Psycho Soldier wonders suddenly, launching another sphere of Psycho Power at Geese's back, since the arena owner is focusing instead on Kula at the moment. "Choukyuudan!" he cries, hoping Kula can take care of herself...

This time when Geese sends that attack ripping across the arena floor toward her, Kula isn't busy at all. She's merely studying the Hakyosaken master, and watching the wave of chi that's coming right for her until she slides out of the way at just the right moment. She whistles as she does so, and then watches the reinforced reppuken go rolling past her to dissapate before she breaks the blades right off of her skates and goes running for the elder Howard, intent on getting in close, and then spinning up with an uppercut meant to catch him under the jaw and carry him up into the air with her, blue chi flaring up all around her almost more like cold flame than anything as crystalline as usual.

Geese laughs as his Double Reppuken is evaded, actually...pleased by that? Yes. "Haha! Good! Even with your handicap, you're not too bad. Maybe in a few years you could work for me." Then he has Kula coming in on him with an icy uppercut, and Kensou's manifestations of Psycho Power. Solution: Jump. Jump over them. Kula's uppercut comes just short of cutting him as he 'flies' right over both it and Kensou's technique, heading towards the latter. "Time to go to the sidelines, kid." Kula just sort of... raises her eyebrow at that. She still can't figure out what in the world he means by handicap, unless, y'know, he's being subtle in saying 'Clones can't be real people.' or something. Not like she hasn't heard that one a million times before. And when he mentions the prospect of working for him in a couple years, that thin blue eyebrow goes /even higher/. She's not the type to stand there and get all dramatic and shout something like 'Never!' once she lands from her missed uppercut. No, regardless of whether she would actually consider it or not at this juncture, she's going to just take it as a compliment, and promptly run in and try to kick Rock's old man in the shin! Geese is caught between two foes once again, though he seems to handle this sort of situation quite well. Geese moves his leg towards Kula's kick to meet it part way, stop it before it can get its full momentum. At the same time, he grabs Kensou's hand and uses it to toss him a few feet upward, bringing his hands together to wait for Kensou's descent and form a close-range chi blast much like the palm-blasts Kensou has done. This sends Kensou back, and he's...fairly sure Kensou will stay down this time, and thus looks to Kula. "I'll leave him alone once he's dealt with, honey."

Poor Kensou. He'd just gotten his bearings again... And Geese has to go and open up another can of whoop-ass on him. He's smashed into the ground, he's blasted, he's definitely just about done, but he has one last thing up his sleeve. "Not yet... I'm not gonna... Like this... YAAA-!" He puts everything he's got left - which admittedly isn't much - into a final attack as he hurls himself at Geese, one elbow and knee extended. Should they land, then the Psycho Soldier launches into a flurry of kicks, with all the last of his strength behind them, culminating in two last spinning, uppercutting kicks... If he hits. Either way, he's going to hit the ground thereafter, whether as the first strike misses, or after the second uppercut...

COMBATSYS: Kensou can no longer fight.

Chen has arrived.

When Kula's kick is stopped abruptly by Geese's bigger and more powerful leg, she doesn't quite give it up. Her leg just stays there where it impacted with his leg, and rather than try and attack Geese again while he's busy tossing Kensou and then blasting him away with all that forceful chi, she puts her effort into calling up a decent-sized little blizzard of chi between her hands and then throwing it down at her feeth. Although it never quite gets there. Her foot comes up lightning quick at a very high angle, one that would strain some people or even tear a muscle, and her foot kicks right through all of that ice and frost to throw it up in an arc for Mr. Howard's head, her heel trailing snowflakes and scattering sparkling facets of ice shards everywhere. "Eeyah!"

It's rather incredible. As the fight drags on, Geese's masterful grasp of the battle slips a little at a time. And this time it really slipped! Kensou's combo strikes completely and utterly, knocking him backwards, though Geese lashes out with one more kick to make sure Kensou stays down. Then Kula sprays ice fragments while kicking him, and that too lands. Geese falls to one knee, clenching a fist...and he's angry.

"Hon', you better hope you can pull that off again." Geese rises, and tries to snatch Kula up and fling her towards the ceiling. If that happens, he'll be waiting for her descent, and thrust his palms forward to smash her away.

This time, Kensou does indeed stay down, Geese's last kick sending the now-unconscious Psycho Soldier rolling /off/ of the stage. There are many things one might or might not say about Sie Kensou, but nobody can deny the little bastard is tenacious; now, though, he's definitely down for the count, not even aware that his last attack struck Geese so surely.

You know, that's actually the second time Kula has been slammed into the wall of Howard Arena. The last time was at a Saturday Night Fight too. She gives a nervous laugh gives a nervous laugh to the angered Geese as he makes that statement, getting to his feet and reaching for her so quickly. She tries to slide back, but, oh yeah, she ditched the skates for more traction a little earlier. It's too late to do anything else by the time she notices this, as she's already being flung high into the air, and then she comes plummeting back and gets sent away by those fierce thrusting palms. She's practically a screaming bullet as she goes flying through the air then, soon to smack up against the wall and then bounce off of it to land in a heap a good foot or two from it. "Nnnngh... so- so just tell me, what's this handicap you've been hinting at?" She rolls over onto her back and starts to push herself up, and then she goes and steals one of Geese's old chesnuts by crossing her arms and beckoning to him like some kind of martial arts master, which everyone knows she is totally not. Is she joking around, or is she just more of a copycat than everyone thought?

COMBATSYS: Kula focuses on her next action.

"It's a physical handicap. But don't worry about it too much, not any real way to fix it." Geese takes Kula up on her offer to come closer, running at her and raising his hands up high, crossing them above his head. "Because you were /born/ with it! Raging..." He's close now, and figures he's close enough to catch Kula... "...Storm!" The hands smash down into the ground, causing a circular 'cage' of blue, curving chi to shoot up like a bomb just went off. Kula may well be in the radius, and that's the plan Geese is hoping will become reality.

COMBATSYS: Kula endures Geese's Raging Storm.

Kula doesn't have any snappy comeback to offer, nor does she make any outright denial of Geese's claim. He's /still/ being cryptic about it, and Kula thinks from a man like him, it could mean a number of things. It could be the fact that she's a clone, which she already guessed, but then when he puts it /that/ way, it could also mean he just doesn't think a girl like her can achieve any sort of penultimate level. And while he could be right, being that he's more than experienced enough to be a reliable judge of other fighters, she doesn't let it get her down. "Oh yeah?! Well I can do that too! ...sort of!" At first, her arms come up to cross over her face like she's going to try and weather the storm, albeit without the help of her normal self-made blast-shields, but then she throws her arms out to her sides and starts to lift off the ground, sending out a fiersome cold-snap that flash-freezes everything it touches. Well, except for Geese's already-blue cage of roaring chi. It has quite a bit of trouble getting through that, but it sure tries. All throughout the battle between her artificially-gained chi and his own natural brand, Kula is still hit hard by the Storm, and regardless of what happens to her chi, she soon loses hold on whatever was allowing her to float that little bit and she collapses onto the floor with a gasp.

COMBATSYS: Kula can no longer fight.

Natural chi versus ice that is a nearly 'natural' part of its wielder. They battle for a few moments, then Geese's Raging Storm punches through, blasting Kula back and leaving Geese standing. He's tired, about out of fight, but he is still up. "...Ha! I thought as much." He never really did explain what he was going on about, and doesn't bother with it now either. "Someone get those two cleaned up, I'm going back to my office." He pats at his side, the one that Kula tried to kidney-strike earlier. That still hurt, even if it wasn't a complete hit...

But the match is definitely over, and Geese is leaving.

COMBATSYS: Geese has ended the fight here.
