Description: Shadow detective Daniel and drunken boxer Vin share drinks at an open bar on the open seas, before fighting before a judgemental crowd.
That is truly the only word that comes to mind when one wanders the decks of this massive cruise liner. Four large pools adorn the main deck of the ship, as the cruise-goers party, enjoying the beautiful moonlight above them. There's an atmosphere of sheer jubilance as the ship itself seems to hold something for anyone. Of course, the real draw resides on the top deck. While during the day the top deck may be home to the buffett, during the night it's an utterly different story. Long rows of lights have been strung up, illuminating the deck in a multitude of colors as the passengers sway to the music that the ships musicians have decided to put on. It's obvious that this is intended to be an adult's dream as no children are really present, giving their parents and the other passengers a real chance to cut loose, and not act like the upright and responsible adults they really are. Just don't mess with the guys walking around with free drinks. Loads of free drinks. The customers love them.
And apparently, so do the fighters.
"Nothing!" States the dark-skinned man in the bright orange zoot suit, sitting at the open bar next to the deck. In his hand was a tall glass, delicately layered with a rainbow of liquors with a carefully arranged floral piece on top. It was about half empty, or perhaps, half full. Daniel himself is surrounded by several of the same glasses, and a broad-brimmed hat with a great big peacock feather jutting out of it. He was wearing his good suit for the fight tonight. And yet, in his pre-battle advantage of the match, the shade was sulking over the fact that the booze was doing -nothing-. No buzz, no fun. Just... numb. It was awful. And after about 20 drinks, what was he gonna show for it? I mean, he wasn't just here for the free drinks. Aranha had made his challenge, and now, in open water?
He would be answering it.
Daniel looks back to the impatient looking crew, all ready for the Neo-League fight. Daniel nudges the man next to him. "Hey, buddy, I think they are starting to wonder if we are gonna fight or not." The detective squints his yellow eyes at his barside partner. "You, uh, you sure if you are gonna be okay to fight? I mean, I know I heard, uh, I heard things." Daniel glances back to the bar, and back to the other guy. "But I don't want people to think I'm being dishonest here, with the whole 'oh sure invitation to drink' deal."
Daniel was in fact being dishonest with his whole invitation to drink deal.
The detective's drinking partner doesn't really... take the seeming show of concern into much account. Considering the half-chinese, half-american man in a floral shirt left unbuttoned around his toned figure is... currently pouring the contents of a dreadfully tall glass of some incredibly strong-smelling liqour down his throat. Surrounded by an equally impressive amount of emptied glasses as Daniel, the difference with Vin, however, would be that they *are* in fact having an effect on him.
"Eeeeeeeh?" The man sounds out after dropping the emptied glass onto the counter, turning a lopsided grin to the detective while running his other hand through messy black hair. "'Course I am, 'Course I aaaaaaam." Voice slurring obviously, cheeks flushed red from the alcohol coursing through his blood and warming his body. Oh boy.
"We only just got a taste so far though too, didn't we? Haha! Come oooonn, buddy~!" A hand reached out to give a clap on Daniel's shoulder in a manner much more friendly than should perhaps be warranted. "We're just having fun~. Hey, bartend--!"
Vin's eyes blink rapidly at the man tending them with drinks, confusion meeting the surprisingly stern expression. "...Wassat now?"
"Come on, don't do this. You were supposed to get started twenty minutes ago. No more drinks."
"Hey, hey, hey, listen, I get you, but if I can just get one m--"
"No! They're waiting!"
"Ah geez fiiiine!"
With a huff, the drunkard spins around on his stool, and drops himself down off of it onto flip-flop -clad feet on the floor. ... And the instant he does, he already takes a little stumble forward, wobbling in his steps.
Somewhere, an event manager is burying his face in his hands.
Daniel was fixing his hat on his head, when Vin stumbles.
%"Take it easy, scuzzy, take it easy!" Daniel blurts out, as he reaches to catch Vin just to make sure he doesn't hit the deck preemptively. "Lets get you out on the floor, and we'll be all fine. Yeah, we're cool, we're cool!" Daniel flashes a fanged smile at the bartender, who doesn't seem to quite get along. As Daniel escorts Vin, he waves to the crowd next. "Don't worry folks, he's a- he's at his prime right now! I'm in real trouble folks!"
He gives a quick wink, as the duo reaches the deck.
Promptly, Daniel releases him, easing back on his side of the deck. "Now I know we didn't have proper introductions, so here's who I am, scuzzy. I'm Daniel Jack, ace detective, and master of Todoh-Ryuu Kobojutsu!" The shade declares, as he eases into the defensive stance of Todoh-Ryuu. An awfully aikido stance, as he spreads his legs out, bringing both palms up as he steadies himself. "A real dapper dresser too. And don't worry about rumors, scuzzy." He gives a wink, as the audience gets a little aura of concern.
"I'm definitely not a soul-devouring monster!"
"Pffft yeah we're fine," Vin declares with a good-natured laugh even while his arm drapes over one of Daniel's shoulders to steady him up from the stumble. He does seperate after a second... but even after that, every step is an unsteady one, criss-crossing past each one and wobbling from side to side.
The audience doesn't seem entirely convinced.
On the cleared section of the deck proper, Vin ends up turning himself around twice over before he finally settles to properly facing Daniel. And he stares at the man. Eyes narrowed, brows furrowing. "Daniel Jack? Wait a minute... where have I..." He rumbles, suddenly sounding surprisingly lucid and serious in comparison to previous drunken slurring. There's a near accusatory tone in his stare, until--
"Oh, I got it!" He declares cheerfully, with a snap of his fingers and a pointing hand. "Like the bourbon!"
Notably, he's not even adopting any stance there, in opposition of the detective. He just stands there, idly swaying like a common drunkard.
Does he recognize Daniel?
But Daniel absolutely lights up when Vin makes the comment. The bell rings, indicating the start of the fight. And Daniel just burst out loud. "Finally!" Daniel shakes his palms as he walks towards Vin steadily. There isn't a lot of ground speed on this guy so far, it seems, as he continues on. "Finally, somebody gets it. My god, for years! Years! Nobody has gone out and said 'oh like the bourbon!'" The shade actually reaches Vin as he continues to rattle off. "See, this is why I -like- you, you're somebody who actually understands what I am getting at. Man, I wish there were a dozen more of you in the world, you dig?" Daniel opens up with a palm strike with the left, jutting it in deeply with a thrust, before promptly chaining into a hand chop with the right. A classic opener from the detective, for those in the know.
But a dangerous telegraph of what would be coming next.

"Yeah!" Vin laughs out with cheerful agreement, dropping the pointing hand down when the bell rings. "That's just--"
He doesn't have the time to follow through on those words before Daneil's already setting into the assault. The open palm of the detective comes in and poor Vin, though he sees it coming, he doesn't have time to move himself out of the way in any way or form. Daniel's hand collides directly with his face with a loud *CRUNCH*. His head gets sent rearing back from the impact, a squirt of blood from his nose leaving a long trail of red behind as his body tumbles over backwards. Falling back ungracefully, with eyes rolled up. Did he... did he just knock the man out in one blow?
But no. Before Vin's back can actaully hit the deck, his back suddenly arches and his own hands plant onto the floor -- his feet suddenly launching further up to guide one foot - suddenly lacking a flip-flop - towards Daniel's chin before he settles into a handstand.

Did he knock him out in one blow?
Daniel might have had 20 drinks in him, but he was keeping those yellow eyes trained on Vin as the drunk goes down. He was an old salt on these things. While he was smiling, he wasn't letting his guard down just yet. He knew what would down a guy in one hit. And that wasn't it. Sure enough, Vin flips back up to give a staggering wakeup kick right for the detective's chin. Vin is greeted with a palm, which guides the kick towards Daniel's shoulder. Daniel side-steps, rotating around with delicate footwork as he allows Vin to finish into his hand stand.
Before moving in for the counter attack.
Stepping back in towards Vin, he lashes both of his hands out towards the man's wrist- ankles? Todoh-Ryuu didn't have a lot about grappling handstanding opponents, it was true. But memories of training with Master Todoh and Mistress Todoh, with them standing on their heads, rush back to him. Resolutely, he aims to seize two hands on a single ankle, and should he get a grip, he would go for the pivot, and slam the drunk to the ground.
"Where did you learn that trick, by the by?" Daniel idles as he begins the attack.

"Oh, you know!" Vin offers in answer even with blood dripping down along his face from the very-much-broken nose. "Just picked it u-waaaH!"
The one thing Vin can say for certain is that most people don't usually react to an inexplicable handstand employed by their opponent by grabbing onto the legs. Certainly most of the people Vin has fought haven't had the kind of speed that would prevent him from making use of the sweeping swings of his legs from that position. And grabbing onto his ankles? Good lord, that stops it entirely!
And oooofff to the side and down the man goes, his hands slipping away from underneath him, his whole body sent spinning around before he lands down onto the deck with a violent *THUD*. Landing face-first, his body slightly bent over itself in a most undignified position.
Daniel winces as he drops Vin down.
The detective was in it to win it, and he was probing the defenses of Vin. The problem was, while he -did- figure that encouraging the guy to get drunk was going to improve his odds, there was a kind of image issue he was struggling with. There was a reason he was called the Lady Killer before he became a monster, after that incident in the apartment with all those liquor bottles, and the super cute Hitomi that was like, almost half his age. Daniel circles a bit, tongue in cheek, as he draws his arms back. Orange chi swirls around him, as he charges with power.
And giving Vin a moment to pull himself together.
"See, I warned you about the Zombie! I warned you! A cocktail that's just mixed liquors and a juice is going to be nothing but trouble! It's just a legal roofie!" Daniel may not notice it, but the so called 'Lady Killer' talking about 'legal roofies' was causing HR headaches well beyond the scope of the Neo-League. Reaching the apex, as orange energy floods around his arms, the detective finally slams his arms down. A shockwave of chi roars across the deck in a hemisphere shape, the tsunami of energy cascading out from the detective. All while he roars out the name of the Todoh-Ryuu signature.

Vin's... efforts at getting himself back into a much more reasonable position begin with helpless waving of his feet overhead, before he finally rolls himself over to flopping onto his back before stumbling up onto his feet. Bent over slightly, arms swaying slightly from side to side. "But you know whaaat? It was *delicious*!"
The energy blasting towards him doesn't seem like something he's prepared for, either. But in a sudden burst of motion, he sways himself over forward, flipping over and off of his feet -- spinning through the air and over the assault. The continued motion brings him slamming down onto his knees onto the floor, sliding across the deck and towards his opponent.
"Sheesh the floor's dangeroooouuuus!" He chimes out through the motion as he slides right past Daniel -- with one hand stuck out to grab into the detective's shin and sweep his leg out from under him.

Well that woke him up fast.
The audience roars as Daniel's tidal wave of energy rips across the deck. And sailing over it? The drunken fighter, who suddenly was flinging himself over the mess. Daniel quickly centers himself again as the man hits the deck, sliding straight towards the detective's legs. Daniel takes the hit, the shade falling off his feet into his own roll. Tumbling across the deck, he slips away, before rising back up into a stand, giving a moment to rub his shoulder.
Same one that got hit earlier, in fact.
"The delicious ones are the ones you gotta watch out for, scuzzy!" Daniel interjects, scolding his opponent slash drinking partner curtly. With a little bit of space, he was mulling his approach, before finally settling on it. Orange energy still flashing over him, he steps towards Vin, keeping a brisk pace, before unleashing a palm strike with the left, and a hand chop with the right. A repeat of the attack earlier? But as the energy floods over him, he gives quick elbow jab with the right, before dipping in with a low kick of his own, sweeping with his left leg before rising up with a palm. A nasty five hit combination, blazing with chi energy. "It's the Zoot Suit Riot!" Daniel exclaims.
As the audience, in turn, throws back their bottles of beer.

After the slide across the deck has come to it's end, Vin's quickly bumping himself back up to his feet and spinning around on a bare foot back to Daniel.
Whatever retort he was going to have, he doesn't have time for under the detective's chi-empowered approach. His focus - such as it is - is entirely in going to the defense on it. His naturally-swaying body slips past the first palm strike, a seemingly-impossible turn snapping himself out of the wya of the chopping hand. THe elbow finds purchase, however, drawing a surprised "Bwargh?!" from the man and sending him stumbling back. But that motion, too, serves a purpose, in backing him out of the way of the kick, before, finally -- his arms rise up in a motion much more controlled than anything else he has displayed byefore to smack the final palm-strike out of the way.
"Sheesh, real worked up, ain'tcha?" Mumbles Vin, bouncing backwards slowly on one bare foot. Nearly on a collision course with one of the drink-carrying servers, only to spin around quickly and sweep his hand across the tray he's carrying. "I'mma borrow that~."
And... of all things. Of all possible things, Vin pops open the bottle of hard liqour the waiter was carrying, and tips it up to pour a good, hearty swig of it down his throat.
Except, wait. He's not swallowing. And a flick of a wrist has brought a zippo lighter to his other hand. Still without swallowing, he pops the bottle away from his lips and gives a bit of a wild look towards Daniel as he leans in, holding the lit zippo to his lips, and--
Spits out a wide gout of flames to the zoot suit -clad detective, an extended spray of fire licking towards him!

"I'm in it to win it, scuzzy!"
Daniel finishes his assault by stamping a foot back, getting his footing back again. Daniel was keeping his defenses tight, not letting any obvious opening reveal themselves. It was a boring technique in a few ways. But dangerously practical. Meanwhile, when Vin gets a bottle, Daniel glances around at the sidelines. Was this a respite, a heal, and opening? Daniel almost considers nabbing a nip himself, just for the good spirits and character of-
Then the zippo comes out, and Daniel realizes what's happening.
"Oh Sh-" He begins as he bumps into a waiter. Daniel grabs his -own- tray, as the bottles come tumbling to the ground. All that beer, all that fine wine, all that hard liquor. Like tears in the rain, or sand in the desert. Wasted upon the deck. Flipping the tray around, the detective blocks the blast of flames with the tray. Bracing against it, the metal tray begins to get hotter and hotter, until it glows bright red. Hissing in pain at the burns on his hands, Daniel swiftly spins and flings the tray straight back at Vin, aiming to nail him squarely in the gut. And then, taking a moment to shake his hands cold.
"Sorry about the booze, scuzzy!"

Once the ridicilously-improvised flamethrower finally ceases with the spewing of flames, Vin *is* forced to letting out a series of violent coughs. He might be practiced in that particular party trick but it still does some hell on the throat!
And then he notices all the booze spilled on the floor. "Aw, come on! That was all perfectly goo-"
His complaint is cut short when he stumbles slightly to the side with a "Whoop!" and a violent sway off to the side. Wether that was an entirely accidental motion, or a calculated method of swinging out of the way of the tray turned into a frisbee is... well, it might clear enough for Daniel by now, but the audience might be left guessing still.
That stumble continues forward-- right up to his bare foot slipping into some of the spilled liqour from Daniel's hurried defensive effort, sending him sliding across the floor again. BUt this time, the slide's carrying him towards the detective upright, even as he spins around several times over -- a motion that ends up guiding one foot up and towards Daniel's side in a seemingly-uncontrolled spinning kick.

Daniel curses aloud, as the nimble drunkard is stumbling around his tray. Not because it misses per say. But because of the roar of boos and hisses as it -nails- a waitress in the head. A particularly -short- waitress. Daniel is wincing by the time Vin is stumbling over. As he begins to slide, the detective's attention shifts over, and those yellow eyes track on the charging drunk. He brings those palms back around, just as the kick comes. Only one makes it, as the spinning kick connects wide and hard across the man's flanks. He groans in pain, as a good portion of the force goes down through his knees. But Vin was in close now.
Well, close now, for now.
Daniel didn't want the wily drunk to get away again. The other palm was still coming, trying to chase after the leg. He wasn't going to try and let Vin escape. Reaching in with his palm, he was trying to snap upon him. "Sorry!" He calls out. Maybe to Vin? Maybe to the poor woman with the broken nose. The goal? To seize him by his knee, and then, promptly twist and pin him squarely upon the ground by the crook of his leg, face down. He wouldn't pin him -too- long though, even if he got that far. Because by then?
Daniel would realize too late that a pin in the -broken glass- too.

The drunkard can feel a hand grasping at his leg. It slows and halts his spin, and he all but yelps in surprise from it! "Hey! Bad touch!" He protests, kicking at the floor with his other foot to launch himself up off the floor -- and wrench himself out of that grip.
...Unfortunately, part of the damage is already done. The twisting grab helps turn Vin's escape maneuver into another flip through the air -- and though he does end up flying over where most of the glass has been spread, he *does* land onto the groudn with a pretty weighty *THUD* regardless. "Ooof! Ow, ow, ow..."
Still, he continues into a roll -- but this one's towards Daniel rather than away from him. He doesn't bother getting up, before his legs are extending out over and trying to tangle into the detective's limbs with the intent to pivot his weight down onto the floor.

This was not looking great for Daniel.
"I'm sorry about the glass!" Daniel adds hastily. One of the audience members, tending to the crying, bloodied waitress can't help but shout out after him. "Oh, and not the bad touch!?" The detective gets a toothy grimace, which only gets worse when Vin comes rolling back. Daniel goes with the tangled takedown, hitting the deck on a roll himself. Right into the glass. Tearing himself as he had torn up Vin, the pair roll across the deck, only breaking away-
Right by the waitress.
Judgemental eyes come down not on Vin, but on the Darkstalker himself as he rises. Daniel gives a weak, sheepish chuckle, before looking back at Vin. "You're real slick, slick!" Daniel states, as he surges with chi. He wasn't gonna let Vin get up so easily, especially without the glass around. Raising his arms up, he swipes them down without the huge charge beforehand. A smaller, single wave of chi comes cascading down, attempting to wash over Vin as Daniel calls out.

"... Hey don't worry about it buddy," Vin chimes from down on the floor. After the seperation of tangled legs, he's left laying on his side, head propped up slightly while he peers at detective and... well. The mess behind him. "You can probably make do with some reeeaaally expensive whiskey. ... And I guess with money to cover medical bills, something like that."
The drunkard doesn't really have a whole lot in the way of good advice.
But what he does have is the inexplicable ability to slide and roll himself along the floor all over again -- deliberately pushing himself to bouncing once, twice along the floor with his legs tucked in, briefly folding himself into a ball-like posture before springing up onto his feet.
Or one foot, anyway. THe other one's sent swinging up with his rise to send sweeping for Daniel's knee. "You tryin' to burn me?"
...Nevermind that he tried that just a few seconds earlier.

"A good whiskey, and some medical bills. But Neo-League covers that part!" The detective could at least find some respect from the drunk. That's a lot more than what he usually had to deal with. As the nimble drunk slips out of his Kasane Ate, the detective steadies himself out. Vin was running circle around him. When he could catch him, he could really catch him. But if, he could catch him. So when Vin comes hurling in with a kick?
Daniel just takes it.
The shade shifts hard when he is hit, the firm stance causing his whole body to shudder into shadow for a moment. But only a moment. For once that happened, the detective -lunges- down at the drunk. One arm back, he slams down with a nearly perfect hand chop, aimed right at the collar. Only nearly perfect, of course, because Todoh-Ryuu Kobojutsu had the ultimate World Greatest Hand Chop. This was only the 1% of the power of the true hand chop.
Todoh forgive him if he had to bring out the other 99%.

"...H-huh?" Even drunk, Vin can't help but notice how that shade shifts along Daniel as a result of the kick he leveraged into the man. Or the fact that Daniel more or less *allowed* the kick to go through. After all this time of being carefree even through all the hits he's taken himself, the drunkard actually looks *concerned*.
His eyes track the incoming hand chop, and--
"WAH--!" The constant, drunken swaying serves it's purpose still. One foot slides to the left and his entire body drops down low and to the side. A wild flinging of one leg guiding his body swpinning around along it's vertical axis. Daniel can perhaps feel his hand skinning right against the fabric of Vin's loose shirt, so close does that chop sweep past him before he slides further off to the side, around the man, and--
Latches one arm along the man's chest and opposing shoulder, before his own spin continues and sends him flipping over, intending to use the momentum to pivot both himself and the detective around in the air and drop him head-first onto the ground.

The mixup chain wasn't ending.
Daniel's relentless offense was struggling to keep up with Vin's evasive game. The drunken swagger making it nearly impossible for the detective to snatch him up. As the chop comes roaring in, it connects with the deck. The yellow-eyed shade bares his teeth, as the drunk slips his own grip across the Darkstalker's chest. The zoot suit rustles, as orange energy flashes over him. The duo goes up in the air.
But Daniel reverses the close-quarters grapple.
Bringing his own arms around, he clasps both hands around Vin, and -rips- him off his body. Raising him high over his head, he lands horribly on both legs. Wrenching Vin downwards, the detective -spikes- him down with a wave of energy, snarling out hoarsely a roar as he drives Vin headfirst into the deck with a blast of energy.
Vin was so certain that his charge right into the man would bring him down. He was so certain!
But he's slowly starting to realize that the contestants in this Neo League are a different breed from the scumbags he's beaten up for easy money in smaller rings across the world. The feeling was there when he fought against Hayley. And the feeling is all the more strong now, when he's hoisted up from his intended grapple by his target.
"... Oh fuck me..."
The declaration is the only thing that comes before he goes down from above Daniel's head with such force that when he's smashed into the deck, the deck itself damn near *breaks* underneath him.
The impact makes the drunkard's eyes roll. Legs left pointing directly up to the sky comically for a few seconds before his body slumps the rest of the way down. And he's perfectly motionless there, save for a little twitching in one leg.
"......... I think... I need a nap....."

Daniel delivers the executing slam. Keeping steady on his feet, he hangs over Vin, palms up, waiting. And gradually, as Vin goes limp, the detective gets his own guard down too. Tipping his hat with one hat, he sticks his other hand in his pocket as looks down on the drunkard. Clicking his tongue, he shakes his head. "Sleeping it off, scuzzy, you'll need the hair of the dog in the morning." He turns back to the onlookers, a grin on his face as he is ready for their cheers-
"Are you done yet, monster?"
The words come from one of the nurses helping the poor waitress he struck. The smile on Daniel's face fades. He didn't do it on purpose. Glancing back over to Vin, he grimaces. "Well, dicks. I guess I got a long way still." He gives one last nod to Vin... before suddenly melting away into a shadowy puddle, to the gasp and hisses of the crowd.
Clearing the way for the medical team to help Vin.
