Match of the Millennium

Description: An experiment at the Kanzuki Excellence center where Maki and Munin are the test subjects. Who will come out on top? (WINNER: Maki)

Deep within the Kanzuki Excellence Center, testing is underway! We would like to remind you that all tests done in this facility are completely ethical, and in the interest of persuing the limits of scientific knowledge!

You monster!

Meanwhile, in ANOTHER room in the same facility, Munin is escourted into a laaaaaaaaaarge wide open room, the walls reinforced, and with a camera system covering every inch of the place. She squirms a bit uncomfortably, trying to get used to the devices strapped to her limbs, along with the headset with it's transparent faceplate. It's all light weight, but still is enough to throw off her sense of balance a bit.

As she stands there waiting for her opponent, Munins thoughts drift a bit (They say this is gonna drain my opponent and power me up. Both an interesting AND frightening contemplation..... this technology could potentially be abused bigtime..... at least the pay is good though...).

[MAKI]
Kanzuki Excellence Center. For those who are familiar with the Kanzuki family, they'd know that their spoiled rich daughter wants nothing short of perfection with everything. It apparently runs in the family.

Surprisingly, though, Maki isn't too uncomfortable with the current layout of things. She's been in a similar situation once before, and it kind of feels normal to her. Only this time it's a bit more than before, with more devices and stuff, but she's gotten into it like a second skin, although it does feel kinda unusual. At least she still has her trusty tonfa on hand!

You'd think Maki's anxious about knowing that her power will be drained to power up Munin, but she's not the least bit worried. In fact, as she approaches Munin, Maki's doing a few tricks with her tonfa as if passing the time. "I always enjoy a good challenge," Maki comments. "Just remember, though, even a weakened opponent can still be a formidable foe!" She slaps her tonfa against the palm of her hand to emphasize this. "Just say the word!"

A shrug and a smirk is Munins outward response "Hey, i'm just getting paid to test this. 'Challenge' or your level of threat isn't an issue". Her eyes pulse brightly, and dark smokey wisps of black and violet chi begin to drift off of her form "Say the word? oooook.....".

She abruptly flings a wave of dark chi at Maki with a shout of "WORD!", grinning the entire time. Couldn't resist!

"Payment or not, it doesn't matter," Maki says, grinning as she watches the dark chi coming at her, before avoiding it completely. "Nice of you to warm me up a little though! I appreciate it!" Her smirk is slightly sarcastic as she speaks. "Don't think you have the upper hand so easily either!"

Maki twirls her tonfa a few times before attempting to come in quickly and strike Munin with it in the side before stepping back quickly.

Munin winces slightly as the tonfa thwacks her in the side. It hurts, but little real damage done "I never claimed to have the upper hand. Try and succed, or try and fail. There is nothing in between". She suddenly splits into two Munins, one going left, one going right, which promptly start throwing punches and kicks at Maki in a duel combination, aiming for pressure points as well as gaps in her defense.

The onslaught only lasts a few seconds though, as the illusory double promptly vanishes

Two Munins are better than one, maybe. But one thing Munin probably didn't count on is the fact that Maki's got a trick up her sleeve that will make the double-teaming tactic somewhat ineffective. She drops onto the ground and pushes herself into the air on her tonfa, spinning around like a top. Both Munins do get hit, but not before one of them hits Maki, causing her to wince a little as she comes out of her whirlwind attack... and she feels somewhat more drained than usual.

"The system... it's draining me... I forgot..." Maki shakes her head in disbelief. "Then again, I did admit I wanted this challenge, so I've no one but myself to blame." She shrugs a little. "Oh well."

[MUNIN]
The illusory image vanishes when struck, and Munin is driven back with a nice bruise to her shoulder where the attack connected. Maki is clearly a fast one. Munins thoughts drift back to the technical angle.... (Makis fast.... Usual indication of weaker constitution. Stronger blows, and the hopes one gets through, seem like a better idea than trying to match her speed. Drawback: managing to keep myself up and going long enough for something to get through.....).

With that, as Maki comes out of the whirlwind, Munin moves in. She spins abruptly, coming around with a chi-infused palm strike, aiming for center of Makis mass!

This time, Maki chooses NOT to dodge or evade. Instead, as Munin spins at her, she blocks it with her tonfa and shakes her head. "A valiant effort but thwarted I'm afraid." She wipes her forehead, but it seems more like a casual thing than a sign of fatigue. "Honestly, I could keep doing this all day!" She chuckles a little. "This machinery means nothing to me! Watch!"

With a quick step forward, Maki attempts a sudden thrust kick forwards. It's got some speed, but not much power. Apparently, Maki's trying to wear her opponent down a little. Or she could still be warming up. Who knows?

*THOOM!* As Munin is halted by the block, and recovers for a moment from the momentum being expended, the kick connects with her cheek, sending her reeling for a moment. Turning to glare at her opponent, Munins eyes glooooooow steadily and brightly, as she starts analyzing the womans body for patterns, weak points, weight and balance as a way to tell her movements, and so on.....

Munin can stare at Maki all she wants, but Maki's not going to let her win that easily. She intends to prove that this experiment is nothing more than a failure. "I admire your patience, I will give you that," Maki says with a smirk. "But don't think I'm going to let you win that easily! You've got such a unique aura around you, I'll give you that, but it won't be enough to win!"

Maki's smirk turns into a scowl suddenly. "I'm not just any girl, either. I'm Maki Genryuusai, one of the heroines of Metro City, and heir to the Genryuusai style Bushin-Ryu martial arts!" She points her tonfa at Munin and says, "Many people think women aren't capable fighters, but THAT is something I'm going to disprove in more ways than one! Not only by succeeding my father as the head of the Bushin-Ryu line, but also by finishing YOU off and making this experiment seem pitiful!" She rushes in towards the focused fighter, attempting to deliver a swift over-the-shoulder throw.

COMBATSYS: Munin fails to counter Quick Throw from Maki with Shadow Strike.

Munin is still in pain from the hit to the face, as well as off balance from all the stuff strapped to her body. She moves to respond, but is just too slow, and is quickly throw onto her back, dazed from the impact. Everything hurts at the moment.....

[MAKI]
Maki shows a rare sign of compassion, even though her scowl is still there. "Looks like even though you've got the advantage in a sense, you're still losing." She hmmphs. "I enjoy a good challenge, and it looks like this isn't very challenging." She wipes her forehead again. "So I'm gonna let you have a fair shot, how does that sound?" She narrows an eye. "But I'm still watching you!"

In response, Munin merely rolls her eyes, sarcasm becoming thick "Oh, you're so kind....".

It's clear she really doesn't care or is taking this very seriously. Moving forwards again, she splits into several copies again, converging from multiple angles on Maki. All but one are fakes, do no damage, and vanish on hit or on BEING hit. The REAL Munin, meanwhile, comes in from an up and left angle, aiming for a kick to Makis face or neck

Sarcasm? That don't faze Maki too much.

Now being caught off-guard by a double-trouble attack before she can even respond? That fazes Maki. Munin's two images strike her fast, before she can even respond, knocking her backwards and leaving her staggering for a bit. "Ow ow ow..." She looks up a little, gritting her teeth in pain. "You got me good there, I'll give you that. That'll teach me to lower my defenses!"

[MUNIN]
Makis words fall on deaf ears. Even as the woman speaks, Munin is already moving in again. Her eyes blaze once more, and the shadows on the ground deepen. Makis own shadow begins to move upwards, attempting to ensnare, coat, and squeeze her in a shadowy cacoon! It disperses a moment afterwards, but by then what damage it can do is already done....

Maki should learn to be more about action and not words. Because suddenly, before she can even move, she finds herself trapped! She can barely move! Struggling, Maki attempts to break free, but just can't seem to get her entire body free. "Unngh... damn it! This is embarrassing!" She says with a fierce scowl.

Somehow, Maki manages to break free just one arm and, with an attempt at breaking the field or at least knocking Munin away in hopes it will disrupt her trap, Maki swings her tonfa swiftly.

COMBATSYS: Munin blocks Maki's Genkou.

An arm comes up, and Munin blocks the tonfa strike fluidly as she moves in a blur. A lance of dark violet chi projects from her hand, and she takes two steps around Maki, with two swipes each sent at the entangled tonfa fighter! Quick and deadly!

COMBATSYS: Munin blitzes into action and acts again!

Two swipes, huh? The first one is avoided with ease, but the second one is deflected away effortlessly. "I'm still dangerous!" Maki comments as she finally breaks free from the entanglement of that cocoon. "And now that I can dance freely again, let's continue, shall we?" Maki steps back a few steps, as if attempting to give herself some space, before suddenly launching herself at Munin with her leg outstretched.

If Munin were to look closely, she'd notice that Maki's slowing down a little. Could she really be running out of steam?

Once again an arm comes up, stopping Makis kick cold. Without missing a beat, Munin keeps it simple for the moemnt, throwing a punch at Makis temple!

With a punch coming at her with great power, Maki thinks she can attempt to leap into the air and grab her opponent while Munin is busy throwing a punch at the air. Or that's what she'd like to do. Instead, she gets decked and stumbles backwards, rubbing at her temple where she got hit. "Oww... Dammit..." Maki now starts to show a little frustration on her face. "I knew I wanted a challenge... but this is ridiculous!"

[MUNIN]
Munin doesn't slow down after this. She seems to be completely ignoring Makis words at this point, focusing entirely on keeping her tempo going.

As Maki stumbles backwards, Munin follows, kicking once at each knee, following up with a punch to the face, and then finishing with a shoulder throw!

Even in her weakened state, Maki still manages to get away... but she's still showing signs of slowing down. Nevertheless, the blonde haired ninja refuses to god own so easily. She attempts to kick out at one of Munin's legs, attempting to take her down the quick way!

COMBATSYS: Munin fails to counter Strong Kick from Maki with Blink Strike.

Unfortunately, that tempo gets Munin into trouble. So focused is she on keeping pace, also due to the glare of the lights in the headpiece she is wearing, that she doesn't see Makis leg come down. Her feet are promptly swept out from under her, and she lands badly, on her head, and is knocked silly, definately enough to be out of the fight.

[MAKI]
As soon as Munin is declared out of the fight, Maki collapses a little and begins to catch her breath. "Well, it looks like the experiment might not have been a total failure after all... not that it matters." She wipes her forehead and sighs. "At least I got my challenge." She gives a thumbs up to Munin. "Thanks, girl."
